Love these guys. After 2 family members having their air conditioning go down within 2 weeks, we did not want to be #3. (You know this bad stuff goes in 3's) Our system is older but our home appliance insurance does cover AC, but only if you have had proper maintenance done. Tyree came out and checked and cleaned the systems (we have 2 systems), top to bottom. He explained every step as he did it. He climbed up into the attic and cleaned the units and blew out the drainage lines. Then he went out back and worked on units out there. He even changed the filters. Then he came it and measured the temp of air going into units against the air coming out of the units.Price was good and service was great. Arrived just when they said they would and didn't leave any mess. They are coming back to check the heating units when winter comes. Highly recommend this local company!

Had a heat pump system replaced.  They did exactly as indicated, were professional and on time. They followed up after the install to make sure we were satisfied. There seems to be a million hvac companies and difficult to separate the good from the bad
They were recommended to us and we are confident to share our positive experience with others as well.

We've used Norfolk Air Heating Cooling Plumbing and heating several times for our business. Each time, they were very helpful in getting our system fixed or assessed. This time, we needed an assessment of a system in a space we were taking over. Chris went through everything with me and made sure I understood where the problems were and what it would take to fix it. When we need HVAC work, we will definitely call them, again.

While doing a check on my Heating and A/C the tech noticed a problem with my hot water heater, which in in the attic.  Norfolk Heating and Air came and fixed the issue.  All of the technicians were very knowledgable, friendly and took all COVID safety measures.  I have had Norfolk Air do checks on my Heating/AC since moving in my home 5 years ago.  I would highly recommend them.  From the customer service on the phone, to the technicians in the home, everyone is pleasant to work with.

This company is the first we've ever called out to our home and they will be the last. I am on the Nextdoor app and they come highly recommended with my neighbors so I knew they would be best, plus I also googled them. The price we were quoted is competitive and reasonable, therefore we have no complaints. We definitely plan using them to fix the issue that was found.

We all know that feeling when a major system like your AC goes down... the frustration of dealing with the problem itself and then trying to find an honest and fair company, and on a Sunday to top things off. For a family with finite financial resources, like our own it can almost make you feel physically sick knowing that you are at a strangers mercy with the emergent repair. We called and within about a half hour we had a call back. We explained that we had a leak that has re-occurred over the last couple months- this time it was severe enough that our ceiling cracked and it was pretty obvious that my Husband clearing the drain, and adding bleach to the drain pipe wasn't going to cut it. Drew said he would be heading our way in about 15 minutes. Surely enough within a little over an hour on a Sunday he was at the door. He was very nice and professional- even better he had us back up and running quickly and at a very fair price for a Sunday emergency type of visit. We are extremely happy we found Drew and this company. We purchased their service plan and will have them back soon for routine maintenance. Drew was even nice enough to give maintenance tips that will keep things running smoothly in the future. Overall, very satisfied and thankful for the expediency, honesty and fair prices, thank you! As mentioned we're definitely going to be repeat customers for our home and our rental property! Give them a try- if your experience is anything like ours you'll be totally satisfied!

Bobby & Brian the owners of Norfolk Air came to our home, evaluated the unit and our situation. They went out of their way to make things right for us. Yes, there had been a communication issue, but the team owned up to the mishap, took the right steps and followed through on replacing our compressor. They even went a step further and worked on a humidifier they they thought had an issue as well. We were very impressed with their professionalism and would definitely call on Norfolk Air in the future!

Original Review..
Three visits, three different technicians, no fix. The first technician , Chris came out on 9/25/19. He tested our unit and said we likely had a water coil leak and recommended a sales person for a new unit because a repair is approximately $4k. He said they were slow at the time so we would have bargaining power. We had another contractor look at the unit on 9/26. He stated the compressor was shot. My husband called Brandon, the manager at Norfolk Air. He said he would send a different tech out. Nate came on 9/27 and concurred that the compressor was shot due to a poor installation. He asked who installed it. Norfolk Air did. He called Brandon back and said that it was a bad install. He also sent Chris a message while he was here playfully giving him a hard time for not finding the issue. Brandon agreed this was under warranty, as the install was done in November by Wade who was since fired from the company. The compressor was ordered and today, 10/1 the third tech, Jake came out to replace the compressor. He proceeded to remove the refrigerant which he said is standard practice before replacing the compressor. He said there was a small amount of water in the line, which indicates a leak. He showed me a picture of one very small water bubble. He said that indicated a water coil leak. He said to prove it to me he would cut the lower line and water would leak out. Nothing happened when he cut the line. He tried to bend it so water would come out, but said he was not strong enough to do it. He called Brandon back who said that since there is a water leak, the compressor would not be covered under warranty and there is nothing they can do.
No proving of a water leak, no repaired compressor, and the kicker is that Jake did not fix the line he cut. When I called Brandon to state this, he said it does not matter because any company who repairs it for you would have cut the line. So now I have a unit that does not work and I will have to pay another company to fix something that Norfolk Air is responsible for damaging with no regard for what they did. I am shocked there are so many positive reviews for Norfolk Air. Perhaps it is because they email everyone asking for a positive review and offer a $25 donation to the charity of your choice. Their website states they operate with integrity and trust. I find none of this to be true. I am waiting for a call back from the Owner.

We called this company to get a quote for a whole house generator.  I spoke to Sarah who was very friendly and scheduled our quote for October 18th.  On the 18th Tyler, (who arrived a little early which was great!) came to our home to look at the area where we wanted the generator, took pictures and notes.  Once again very friendly, provided some options and told us he would take the information back to the office to have the quote worked up, verified our contact information and left.  The following day I received an email from Norfolk Air thanking me for my business and that they would give me a $25.00 gift card for a positive rating on Google, or Yelp, or Facebook.  Well, with this rating I do believe I won't be getting the Gift Card!  As of this date 33 days later.....we still have yet to receive a quote!!!  No phone call, no email!  It appears to me that their front end folks, schedulers, Tyler who came out to our house, and their social media crew are on point.  However, the person/people who actually work up quotes and such completely dropped the ball.  I suppose they have too much business.

We have been customers of Norfolk Heating and Air for several years, since moving to the Norfolk area.  Today's maintenance work was done by Justin.  He was on time, diligent and thorough. He even reminded us to change the batteries in the carriage house thermostat so the system would operate seamlessly. Although we rarely get the same technician twice, all of them have been respectful and attentive to their work. We were pleased with today's service and feel confident to be continuing with Norfolk Air as our HVAC provider. Debbie S

I had a faucet that was leaking slightly, so I called here for a plumber to fix it. The plumber that they sent, Bryan, broke the faucet completely in the process of fixing it, turning my functional but slightly leaky faucet into an entirely unusable faucet. Then, they sent me an estimate for almost $600 to replace the faucet that they broke. At least they had the common sense to not try and charge me a service fee for coming to my house and breaking my faucet. In the end, I had a friend fix the faucet for about $10 in parts. But for anyone who needs a faucet replaced, a new faucet costs $60 on Amazon, and you can even have Amazon install it for you for about $200.

I just want to RAVE about this company.
First of all, they are available 24/7. They do charge an after hours fee but if it's urgent it's worth it. I called because all the lights in my house went out. We couldn't figure out what went wrong. Wes was over in less than an hour to diagnose the problem for the low fee of $89 dollars. He gave his professional opinion and said it might take a couple hours so I said we would try to schedule in the morning. I called around ten and they were able to come over right away but unfortunately I was still at work. So they were able to come over right when I needed them. He brought 2 more guys over with him (Jason and I can't remember the other guys name) to get a second opinion before cutting into our walls. They found out it was a faulty outlet due to being an older home. It took them maybe half an hour to fix it and half the price! I'm so thankful Wes had the idea to ask someone else because he really didn't want to cut into our walls. This team was professional, friendly, punctual, and affordable. I hope to not need an electrician again, but they will be the ones I call if I do!!

Once again, Norfolk Air came through for us. Our water heater has valve pooped the bed on Friday and they were able to get to us the same day. Due to Covid/shipping delays the replacement wasn't available until today, but they were prompt and the repair was made fastidiously.

They installed both HVAC and hot water systems, as well as a replacement water line at our duplex and we will certainly keep this relationship for the long haul.

Kudos to your crews, and stay safe!

When I called the office they were able to make a same day appointment and came out that afternoon.  The technician was knowledgeable and diagnosed the problem.  He then gave me a quote that had about a  plus or minus hundred dollar spread.  He said it was based on a book rate for and not based on an hourly rate.  I ended up paying $143 for one half hour of work based on his book rate or whatever he called it.   Also had to add in the diagnostic fee of $89. So in all I paid $232 for a diagnosis and about one half hour of work.  When the technician was writing up the ticket after he was done he then gave me a quote to sign which I thought was the receipt,  I had trouble telling the difference because he gave me a tablet to sign and not written paperwork.  He made a couple of changes and then gave me the tablet to sign again.  This time though it was the actual bill.  I told him I had already signed and he then replied, No, that was a quote. This is the bill, you need to sign again.  He also presented this as a deal since he charged me the lower of the rates he gave me verbally before he started the work.  While I think the company does good work, has good customer service and good reputation, the price I paid for the work that was done seems excessive to me.  Good service but watch the pricing.

Moved last year and had the surprise of needing a new AC unit during the hottest part of the year. We got a couple quotes but decided to go with Norfolk Air due to their responsiveness even though they weren't the least expensive. They did the work in the three days and for the price quoted. The crew was respectful, hard working and left our house clean.

I purchased a home and Norfolk Heating and Cooling were contracted to replace duct work. There was some miscommunication and extenuating circumstances between the real estate agents, sellers, buyers and the company. I was given the owner's personal cell phone number. We were able to cut through the miscommunications. They went above and beyond!! I really appreciated them being patient with the process and getting the job done. I was impressed with the extra professionalism of Tyler and Brandon!! I absolutely recommend them as they took really good care of me!!!

Norfolk Air Heating & Cooling just installed a new Gas Furnace, AC unit, AccuClean whole house filtration system and air return at my home.  The owner, Bobby, came out to educate me on my different options for a new system and provide a quote.  I received a couple of other quotes which were all similar in price but I felt that Norfolk Air would do the job right.

I'm glad I went with them because the job was clean, the technicians were professional, and both levels of the house are now the same temperature even though we only have one unit.  I'm very happy with the results.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for HVAC work or a new system.

They came out to fix my ac unit.  They told me they could fix it.  When all was said and done the tech said it couldn't be fixed and we needed a new unit.  When I called another company they said that our current fine and they could see it had recently been fixed.  Norfolk heating and air are a bunch of scam artists!  Run and run fast!

Norfolk, Air, Heating & Cooling did a fantastic job replacing our old system.  The unit went out on Friday afternoon and the tech was out to us within the  hour.  We received a very fair price for replacing our system and because our new system is so much more efficient we will actually save money on our gas and electric bills. The new system is running great!  The technician and all of the employees were very  knowledgeable and worked dlilgently to fix our problem.  I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to all of my family and friends.

First of all, Lauren the wonderful patient and kind young woman who took my service call. Was pleasant and efficient. She scheduled a technician to come out and assess the situation with my fireplace.

Chris the service technician came out, looked at the fireplace. He knew exactly what part to order. When the part came in. He was scheduled to promptly install it. Now my fireplace is working again.

They will definitely get a call from me in the future when I need to have my fireplace serviced again!

An added bonus, is that they contribute $25.00 to your charity of choice. I chose St Jude's Children's Hospital.
What a great way to give back!

Called in for a slow drain issue and Chuck was the plumber sent to resolve. The whole house remodel is less than four years old so I figured something got flushed that shouldn't have. After working hard to snake out the problem, Chuck went under the house and found the plumbing contractor had made a series of installation errors, creating the slow drain issue. He conferred with his office and correctly diagnosed a heating duct was in the way when the waste line was run, causing the grade to be insufficient. He documented what was done by the other company and I'm scheduled to have the remediation done. No way was I going back to the original plumber who had to know he shortcut the job. Chuck left the job area clean and was thorough in his work and explanations. Thanks!

Have used Norfolk Air to replace our HVAC and water heater. Their service is always exceptionally professional, prompt, and thorough. Our HVAC needed to be replaced for a difficult-to-diagnose problem, that four techs from three companies looked at and could not diagnose until Norfolk Air visited. More recently, our water heater stopped working.  A plumber came out after hours, recommended immediate replacement for safety concerns, and the next day the job was complete. Technicians have been, without exception, polite, respectful, and professional. Not enough good things to say about this company!

Great customer oriented service! I contacted Norfolk Air HVAC after being stood up by Tidewater Plumbing and Heating (I called Tidewater and they said they would call back but never did). The technician Wade called and let me know when he would be arriving which was good so I wasn't sitting around wondering when he'd be there. Once he did show up, I explained what I was experiencing with the heat pump. It was making an occasional loud honking sound that was loud enough to wake us up in the middle of the night! Coming from Hawaii, we never dealt with heating so this was new to us. He explained that it was normal and then described why it makes that sound. Very informative!
The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because what he explained to me in person could have been done over the phone which would have saved everyone time. This also cost their base service call fee of $89. But I'm sure if anything does happen and I call them up (which I would because they're so great and knowledgeable) they would work out the fee.

Used these folks for an estimate for a straight forward repair on a PVC 3 pipe....cut one out, put another in.  The service tech used a pricing book that priced the work at $610 plus the $69 service call ... another company provided a free estimate and did the work for $125.  Haven't used them for anything complex which is where master plumbers shine, but won't call them again for an estimate to do a repair.

Norfolk Air sent out Tyre to clean and service our home HVAC system this evening. He showed up on time in the pre-specified window and despite being one of his last stops after a very long day he truly delivered service with a smile. I would highly recommend Norfolk Air and ask for Tyre, he not only did a great job but went above and beyond to answer all my questions about the equipment and his process.

I've been waiting for them since 2... they gave me a time of 2 to 4... I call at 330 for a status and they said they would call me right away to give me an update and never did. I called back at 4 and they said to give them another hour. It's now another hour and no update. The recorded message says they will call and email when they are on the way. I just called again and the office said they were on their way. When the technician gets here he tells me that I have to get my heater rewired but that he can't complete the job today. I called the office and told them what was the point of making a 2 o'clock appointment if they won't be able to fix my problem. The tech told me he left the last job to come to me but that he had to go back to finish the job. They tell me the tech will stay to fix the job now he left to go get parts and it will take an hour to come back. Only reason they have good reviews is because they give you a $25 gift card IF you give a good review and email them to let them know

We contracted them to fix the HVAC system in our business which repeatedly burned up belts. After a year of return visits to replace belts,  we decided they didn't seem to be going after the root problem. We discover from the new company that the fly-wheels on our HVAC units had been replaced with incorrectly sized parts which led to the belts burning up. This is something that we expected Norfolk AirHeating and Cooling to have fixed for the $1000+ we ultimately paid out to them over the course of a year. Not good.

My AC went out last weekend, on a Saturday afternoon. I put a blast on FB about how I needed someone and if anyone had any recommendations. What I mostly got back was, Be careful! Most places charge $200 for a weekend fee. Ugh! Well, my good friend Rico PM'd me and told me about Norfolk Air Heating, Cooling and Plumbing. I trust Rico, so I gave them a call. They were very pleasant over the phone and said that they unfortunately couldn't come out that day (because my outside unit needed to defrost first), but had me turn off the AC and let the ice melt away. They said they would call me back the next day (yeah right-companies always say that and never follow through) to schedule an appointment.
I did what I was told and waited for the call the next day. They called me at around 9-9:30 the next day and I was pleasantly surprised! We made an appointment for the tech to come out between 12-3 and he called before she showed up at 2pm. He was very professional looking, wore those little slippers inside my house, and just seemed cleaned. He explained what he was going to do, and all of the charges to me up front before he did anything.

Once he found out my unit needed Freon, we added that. (And there was no weekend charge! Yay!) There was a bit more to the story about what was wrong with my unit but I wont go into those details because its not pertinent with the review. What I loved about this tech was that he was 100% honest and upfront about everything. He told me my options and didn't just come out and say, Oh! looks like you need a whole new unit. or anything sleazy like that. We started small, trying to figure out more cost effective solutions first. He genuinely wanted to help and cared about me as a customer.

This company also offers payment plans for if you needed a new unit. AND what I thought was cool was that when I went to pay for my Freon and diagnostic fee I didn't have to write a check. I was able to pay with a credit card right there which was convenient.
Also, you get an e-mailed receipt with a description of what was done and what you and the tech had discussed that day. I thought that was very helpful because I always forget what people tell me in regards in the upkeep of things.

All in all I feel very safe, comfortable, and happy with this company and I will definitely use them for my HVAC needs! Thank you!

I was having an A/C issue...Chris arrived on time and was respectful. He tested the capacitor and  quoted me $200 ($89 to come out + $110 for capacitor) to change capacitor which was already overpriced. But I said okay.

He changed the capacitor pretty fast. Then he said that he would check for other issues. After 30 mins of me watching him on the security camera of him smoking and talking on the cellphone. He call me back outside and said more work needed to be done. And then quoted me over $1800 in order for me to have cool air before he left. I said no thanks because that is outrageous and I'll get someone else out here. He said okay and $200 will be charged to my card.

He said he would email me a receipt and left before confirming if I received the receipt. The only reason I know that i was charged incorrectly at $295 is because it is currently pending on my card.

After he left, I went outside and notice the fan on the A/C unit was not moving even though it had a new capacitor. I then looked in the breaker box and noticed he intentionally put the fuse in the disconnect upside down to make it seem like the A/C unit was not working. After inserted the fuse correctly into the disconnect, the fan started up and guess what...cold air magically began to blow inside my house.

I tried to call the company a couple of times to speak to a manager or someone in charge but it went to voicemail.

I don't know if this is a Norfolk Heating Cooling Plumbing issue or just a shady technician issue. But I cannot recommend this company and I recommend going elsewhere. Thank God for security cameras!!

Hopefully, Norfolk Heating Cooling Plumbing sees this review and speak with their tech.

$90 wasted to just get a tech out to come give a look and the tech was claiming many things were broken that simply weren't, then he went to his truck when we pointed out his mistakes so he could think about it and came back with different answers. He was charging like 10x the market rate for r-22 Freon, and we didn't ever even get that estimate we asked for, though we did get an email promising a gift card in exchange for a review. I have no idea how this is the same company that gets the highest score on Yelp.

Our AC broke decided to break on a Sunday night on Father's Day in a 100+ degree weather.  I didn't expect a prompt response due to timing but to my surprise, one of the owners, Brian, showed up at our house and got right on it.  He was very helpful and patient explaining to my husband what happened and how to avoid it in the future.  He fixed the problem in less than an hour.  We were very grateful to have him there since our little ones were sweating profusely due to the heat.  He taking time away from his family on Father's Day to tend to our emergency speaks volume about his integrity and I would not hesitate  to utilize this business again.... But hopefully not in the near future.

There should be a 0 star option. I had an issue with the customer service and billing. They were unwilling to do work with me. There owner called me to yell at me about his high level of professionalism. This company and its owner are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I ordered my part online and had it installed by a professional at a 1/3 Norfolk air and heating's price. Check around, don't believe the reviews they have posted about themselves!!!

Every year friendly, timely, thorough, and knowledgeable service for our A/C.

We get a reminder call, and a call when the tech is on the way.

We get the service scheduled on the days that work best for us.

We have had no issues with our unit.

At the recommendation of a neighbor I switched my HVAC service contract on both my primary residence and my rental property to Norfolk Air.  After having made the switch themselves two years ago my neighbor had nothing but good things to say about Norfolk Air.  I had my first check up today and was impressed by the service technician's thoroughness and explanations of all the tasks and system checks performed.  I did not get this same level of attention and detailed explanations from my previous provider.

Fast friendly service. Everyone from the receptionist to the technicians were courteous and nice. My furnace was fixed within 48 hours of my initial call. Would have been faster but it was raining and I preferred they not work on my outside unit in the rain. Highly recommend them.

I rent an apartment in Norfolk and my AC stopped working so my landlord called Norfolk Air to fix it. They were extremely easy to communicate with, setting up a time that worked was quick and did not require the usually scheduling problems that come with maintenance. The representative made sure to call to tell me when he was on the way so I didn't have to sit around and wait for him. He was very professional and friendly, very easy to talk to and work with. He quickly diagnosed the problem and made the call to get the correct part. I am very pleased with their service and would definitely recommend this company for your AC needs!

They were late for the two hour appointment window, but the office had the courtesy to call me an tell me they were running late and when I should expect them. The technicians seemed very knowledgeable and were very friendly. They worked quickly to resolve my heating issue and the pricing seemed more than fair to me. I would use this company again or recommend them to a friend.

Quick service on AC that was down. Technician was professional and prompt in diagnosing the problem. I just wish I would have know the fix as it would have saved me money however now we also have a maintenance plan that we had failed to set up for the past several years. Better efficiency is on the way...Nice work.

I was expecting family in town for the memorial day weekend and of course, the air goes out in the house.  I called on Friday morning and they were able to send a technician out by the afternoon.  He even called and came earlier than scheduled.  He was able to diagnose and fix the problem on the spot.  He was up front about his work, the costs, and that I was choosing a temporary fix vs a long term fix.  Additionally he set me up with an appointment to receive an estimate to consider replacing my old system.  I will continue to give my business to Norfolk Air.

We have used Norfolk Air Heating and Cooling before a few years ago. So when our Electric bill was through the roof I called them to come out and see if my AC was working properly. They came out the same day, did an inspection and found dirty coils, clogged filters, leaky duct work, and a plugged drain line. Drew was very helpful and explained everything that he was doing and what effect it had on our system. Drew was very fast and clean as well. And when he was done he didn't try and push any services on me or sign us up for something we didn't need.

Great experience, there's a reason they are the best in town.

We found a pool of water forming in our garage from the wall near the water heater.  I called this company and within an hour we had a technician at our home working on the problem.  The technician they sent was extremely friendly and polite.  He impressively and quickly identified where the leak was coming from, asked permission to cut into the wall.  He showed the pipe that had an active leak coming out of it, and quickly fixed the problem, then completely cleaned the work area.
I called the next day about water found in a nearby room, that we rarely go in, from where the leak was, and was again greeted by a friendly polite call taker who listened to my problem and told me she would call the technician who came out that day.  I was quickly called back and she gave me his opinion and her advice.  I felt relief from both the technician and the call takers' advice and opinion.
Its good to know that I now have a go-to company for these issues that is good to me and that I can trust.

The good: This company is large and comprehensive enough that they can take care of a range of home maintenance issues and get you an appointment quickly. They were professional, kept me updated on how long I needed to wait and the workers contacted me and showed up during their estimated window. They worked quickly and knowledgeably. The company has fixed our air conditioning units and heaters without a hitch, and just recently cleared a clogged pipe.

The bad: My landlady got this company mixed up with Norfolk Plumbing, which came out the penultimate time I had plumbing issues. I knocked off a star because Norfolk Air committed highway robbery, charging me more than double for a simpler and less severe clog. $370 to snake my cleanout for 10-15 minutes is exorbitant!

The ugly: The reason I didn't rate it lower is because the man who came out to do the plumbing told me (and showed me) roots were growing in the pipe. Sometimes plumbers let that stuff go so they can continue to collect money when the clogs inevitably happen again. So thank you, plumber guy, for your honesty!

Called them for a simple static test which led to the tech destroying our main return.   Refused to come back out to fix it unless I paid another $85 for a service call.  Even though the manager and owner admitted the tech screwed up they refused to refund any money.  There are so many better HVAC companies in the area, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
Also the tech never wore a mask or offered to put one on.

Bottomline upfront - Overpriced, questionable integrity but courteous staff.  Don't just accept their quote - look up parts and repair info online and do your research.  Expect the quote to include parts cost and labor rate.

I have no issues with the professionalism and responsiveness of this HVAC company that has serviced our home for the past year or two.  My main beef is with the ridiculously expensive quote to replace our Carrier HVAC motor which blew a month after the warranty expired. Had we registered the new system 5 years ago, the warranty would have been 10 years :(

The technician explained Carrier parts are very expensive, double other brands, but that's what he has to install.  The quote I received just had the total of $974 with no break down of parts cost or labor rate.  This is in addition to the $89 I already paid for the diagnosis visit which took all of 5 minutes or less to figure out what was wrong with the unit.  I'd be less angry if they offered to apply the $89 as a credit to the whole repair, but no such luck.

I asked the main office staff for a break down and was told the $974 is split equally between labor and material and they pay flat rate for the part.  The motor replacement takes no more than an hour - two if complicated, but that still comes out to $480 for labor which is insane and $480 for the part.  I learned thru my own research that there are aftermarket parts available online and thru suppliers (even Carrier supply shop sells the generic aftermarket parts) for half the price.  At most this job should be $400-500 total for part and labor.  When I contacted Norfolk Air to better understand their quote, the staff explained they are not supposed to break down parts and labor in giving quotes - just use a flat rate guide per company policy.

I also looked up the part number listed in the quote I received and called the Carrier parts dealer in Chesapeake Va to find out if they carry Carrier brand parts as well as aftermarket generic brands.  I find it interesting that they immediately want to know who they are speaking with - they clearly don't want to share info with homeowners in order to protect HVAC companies' ability to overcharge.  What I don't know is if the intent was to install a cheaper aftermarket part in my unit but charge the higher price of a Carrier part?  I certainly hope not, but the reality is, since my warranty had expired, the need for a Carrier part was moot.  The tech should have explained that to me to save me at least $200 if not more.  I understand he's limited to his bosses' policy in what he can and can't share, but in light of my experience and what I've learned,  I would not recommend  company or continue using its services.
I was able to find another local smaller HVAC firm who waived any diagnosis fee and was able to make a timely repair with an after market part.  Total bill was half the Norfolk Air's quote.

This is a squared-away outfit. In December the starter capacitor on my ac/furnace blower died in the middle of the night. Called Norfolk Air first thing in the AM and they had a service tech at my door in about 35 minutes. Very professional guy, replaced the capacitor, inspected the unit, made some recommendations for future service and suggested an annual maintenance plan. Took just a few minutes and I had heat again. I signed up for a maintenance plan and they came back today to do my annual check and also clean the blower motor and fan (I paid for the motor/fan cleaning). Service tech arrived promptly as scheduled and again he did a pro job. Haven't yet used them for plumbing work but I probably will in the future, based on their heating & cooling service.

This company came highly recommended by a friend. I called them and was looking forward to working with them, what I encountered was one problem after another. I had to call other contractors out to fix the problems they caused.  As far as the HVAC was concerned they did an excellent job however every other part of the company just caused one problem after another.  I tried to call the owner to express my concerns and he basically called me an idiot! Bottom line....I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I can't say enough good things about these folks.  Right when Bobby showed up to quote replacing our HVAC system, we had a catastrophic plumbing failure begin flooding our house.  Bobby got on the phone and had one of his plumbers to our house before my husband even arrived.  They fixed our plumbing issues and replaced our HVAC system all at a very fair price with prompt and trustworthy service.  I particularly like their e-mail updates that let you know when a tech is enroute.  Hands down the best HVAC and plumbing company I've ever dealt with.

Beware of their service agreement. This company is decent enough for punctuality and professionalism, but they are over priced (we've gotten several quotes from other companies to test this, including an HVAC replacement that was 4000 less, and they did a fantastic job). Their $52 dollar service agreement is definitely a read the fine print contract. When you realize they are overpriced, they make you pay them back any discounts before you are able to cancel their services. (And when you get a $180 estimate to replace a toilet flapper, the discount doesn't help you sleep better) Therefore, you are stuck with them whether you like it or not.
Overall, I'll be careful not to accrue anymore discounts, keep paying the $52 until our year runs out, and look elsewhere for services

We've used them twice and will never use them again. The first time was to fix our boiler which they came out and didn't actually fix, came back and zip tied something together so now instead of not turning on our heat wouldn't turn off. They did come back to actually make the repair so that was fine in the end. The second time was to clean roots from a pipe on a Saturday. One hour of work for $765. Other plumbers have removed roots from the same pipe for about $150 so this was a huge surprise bill at the end. When I called to find out why we were charged so much I was informed they accidentally charged the evaluation twice so we'd get $90 back and it was really $675 which is still ridiculous. They charge $90 to come out plus the repairs (more than twice their competitor) plus 30% for after hours despite listing themselves as open. They claim they told us about the 30% ahead of time, but they absolutely did not tell us that or that they charge 2x the normal rate until after the repair was done. We called them because they were listed as open, but we will not make that mistake again. There are plenty of other companies that charge normal and reasonable rates. Don't wast your time and money with this one.

Had complete HVAC system installed by Norfolk Air just over 10 years ago, including ripping out original 25 year old refrigerant line and installing 35 feet of new line for the R 410 coolant on the 2 1/2 ton American Standard heat pump.  Negotiated the price with one of the owners of the company. Got a very good price, with first rate workmanship on the installation of the new system. We have just had the hottest few days of the summer and the cooling stops working. Trouble shot the problem, and my guess it's an electrical fault for the compressor in the heat pump.  Called in Monday and got an appointment for the end of the same day. The repairmen was friendly, professional and effective, and immediately determined that the capacitor needed replacing. That done, system worked like new. He then checked the R 410 refrigerant pressure in the lines, and it was 100% up to spec even after 10 years. Great repair visit, efficiently done. The bill for the new capacitor and labor came to $310, which I consider to be a bit steep.

This place is AWFUL to deal with!! Hidden prices!!!The only reason this business gets one star from me is because the tech was actually knowledgeable, although he wasn't prepared for the job and ended up making more than one store run. During the estimate, they include a membership that you don't sign up for (which requires a monthly payment they also don't discuss). Supposedly it provides a discount, but if you don't want the membership they send you a bill for the difference in price they included in the estimate assuming that you wanted the membership. Addressing this issue with the office staff was cumbersome and non-productive as they require you either sign up for a MONTHLY membership or pay the difference of the estimate they gave you with an included membership. Will never use this company again!

We had someone come out and had our thermostat replaced downstairs. The price was $500 and we agreed to get it done but after some research, The part that was used to replace the thermostat runs $58; the service fee was $90, so the hour of labor was worth $350?!! This seems so much more than it should have been: we have used your services in the past and never felt so taken advantage of. This cost was almost double what our neighbor paid for the same service with a different company.

There was a clog in the pipe to drain our washing machine, unknown to us, until it backed up into our whole kitchen. My husband called Norfolk Air the following day and they responded and sent a tech out who arrived promptly as scheduled. He fixed the problem and was very courteous. After my husband talked to him about a few other problems he noted them and took them back to the shop. The next day they called us about the other issues and sent techs out again both for plumbing and HVAC. So within two days all our problems have been resolved by very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We just wish we wouldn't have waited until there was a major problem to call them. We will be using Norfolk Air for all of our needs from here out. Fair prices and great work.

I just purchased my second home on 11/2018 as my primary house.  I do 2 yearly inspections under my crawl space.  It is something I hate doing but understand that this is the responsibility of the home owner.  While under the dark, damp, muggy crawl space, I notice a leak from the PVC pipe to the caste iron main.  It caused me to curse everything sacred.

So, I obviously needed to get it repaired.  I did some research online and decided to use my local plumbing company.  To my amazement, they were very responsive, transparent and reasonable in price.  I signed up for their protection plan and will use them for future business.  Also, the plumber, Henry was amazing.  He will be the only one I request from Norfolk Air Heating, Cooling and Plumbing due to his transparency and honesty.

Thank you Henry.

I would not recommend using this company. I have been in construction for 35 years I was away on vacation when we got a call with a water leak. The only company available on short notice was Norfork A/C. They said it would be an $89 charge to go to the home and see what the problem was. They proceeded to go to the house and say that we had a leak washing machine valves. Due to the amount of water that leaked we decided to put in an insurance claim. They proceeded to open the wall find a leak fix it and charge us $1140 dollars. They sent a generic bill with just the price. My insurance company needed a breakdown of what they did including the initial call price and the price for opening the wall. So I called them back and asked them for a breakdown of the bill since the insurance company will not cover the price to actually fix the leak.  I was told they do not give itemized bills. I explained my situation and I was still told there was no way that they can break it down in bill form. This seemed odd and in the meantime there was still water sitting in my house waiting for approval from insurance. This happened on November 8 after numerous calls on November 14 the young lady was able to say oh I can break it down as an estimate, broke it down for me, took them a week to help me with that. So the breakdown was $89 for the initial visit which was understood.  $366 dollars to cut approximately a 2 x 3 hole in the wall. The story gets better. I submit the breakdown to my insurance company and they proceeded to tell me that they will not cover the claim If the leak was due to wear and tear. So I called back Norfork HVAC they proceeded to tell me they don't know if they can help me with that. This goes on for another couple of days until I asked to speak to the supervisor of the plumbing department. I explain to him that the original technician had told us that there was a crack in the pipe he says as he read it over it was due to wear and tear. I said see what you can do I think that it might've been more than that. He reached out to his technician came back and told me sorry can't help it was where in tear. Here's where it gets interesting.I then asked him if it was only wear and tear why didn't your plumbing technician just change the packing on the valves Instead of changing the valves and charging all that money. There is not much to a shut off valve. There was silence, then he said let me call my technician again. I got a phone call within five minutes saying yeah there was a crack in the pipe. To me very shady company. Not helpful to the customers and highly overpriced. Stay away

These are my people!

Cassidy, the service tech that came over to do our semi-annual service was very polite, professional, and knew his stuff.  I really appreciated his thoroughness, and also his diligence to keep the house as clean as possible.  I say that last point because he had to go in and out of our house like a hundred times and each time he was careful to take his shoe coverings on and off.  That kind of diligence means a lot because it shows he pays attention to detail.

At the end of the day, our house was given the assurance that everything is good to go for the winter and that's all I needed. Even more important, he wasn't trying to add more fees or unnecessary repairs to the house.

Well done!

They're so flexible.  I called before about a problem, but a friend fixed it for me (it was an easy fix), and when I cancelled, they were totally fine about it.  Then, I had to call again yesterday because my heat died in this lovely weather, and I was sick of my downstairs being 50 degrees.  I called at noon, they sent someone over by 3:30, he figured out the problem, and is coming back today to replace the part.  The tech, Andy, also made a couple of other suggestions and pointed out some things to me.

UPDATE 4_18_19
The owner of the company called me today. He was very angry on the phone. He claimed that I was a liar for calling his employees liars. I had a plumber from another company come out and look at the water heater and it is not actually leaking. Norfolk air said it was leaking. No water. No leak. I had already had it repaired 6 months ago. The owner of Norfolk Air then said that he had been looking me up online and that he knew where I worked. He then insinuated that if I didn't take down my negative reviews he would try to damage my reputation to retaliate against me for my review. I kept explaining to him that his employees lied to us about the leak then about the size of available water heaters. He refused to accept this and instead kept saying that I was a liar. He then said that I must be a really unhappy person. He insulted me repeatedly. At this point my wife took the call. He proceeded to tell my wife that I am an irrational, unhappy and dishonest person. He went on and on. So now I am being menaced by the owner of the company for telling the truth. This is unbelievable. Our terrible experience with Norfolk Air just got a lot worse. Now the owner is threatening to come after me online. Really? Good times.

I had arranged to have my water heater replaced.

It turns out that they had brought a replacement hot water heater 21 inches in diameter. My attic door is 20.5 inches. No one had bothered to measure the attic door width. Rather than get a smaller diameter water heater or offer us that option, they then decided that in order to get the water heater through the attic they would need to rip off the facing and trim around the attic door. They didn't ask me. They presented taking the trim off to my wife as the only option. He then got a knife and started cutting my trim.

He told my wife that we would have to pay someone to repair any damage he did while ripping the trim off. What? We never agreed to any of that. No one told us or asked us anything about ripping trim off and having to pay to have it repaired.

I then spoke to the guy on the phone and he told me that in 2012 manufacturers stopped producing 50 gallon water heaters that were less than 21 inches in diameter. He told me that 21 inches is the smallest that can be gotten. He presented the water heater he had as the only possible solution to replace my water heater.

On the 30 minute drive I called my friend who is a master electrician and a general contractor. I told him what Norfolk Air had told me about 21 inches being the smallest diameter 50 gallon water heater. My friend said this is not true. He said there is a 20 inch 50 gallon heater by Bradford White and they have a distributor in Richmond. He said we might have to order it and wait a few days, maybe a week, but we could easily get one.

So when I got home I told the Norfolk Air guys that I don't appreciate being lied to. He denied lying to me.

I spoke to the office manager on the phone. She wanted to argue with me about how their employees didn't lie to me. She was not helpful at all. You see according to her this is all MY fault not the employees. I'm just a bad, mean customer. Okay.

The supervisor told me the same story as the worker that 21 inches was the smallest diameter. I called him a liar too. He said he didn't lie to me. Okay. Well I think you did. Lying is a deal breaker for me. I won't do business with people who don't tell me the truth.

The supervisor came to the house after the workers had left and made sure the water was turned on and that we had hot water. My wife had had to go into work by this time upset and without a shower because after the workers left there was rusty water and air coming out all the faucets and shower. We didn't know what this was. The supervisor explained it just needed to run through.

I understand that people don't like being caught telling a lie and being called out on it. But that's how I roll. These guys can justify what they told me however they like so that I am the bad guy. But the truth is there are 50 gallon water heaters that are less than 21 inches in diameter. And they told me there weren't. I'm a customer and I'm telling you that looks bad. It feels like I'm being manipulated.

If I'm the bad guy for calling that out then so be it. Seems like at this company the employees like to blame the customer.

Then the owner called me. He did not deny that they had lied to me. All   he was interested in was me not leaving a bad review online. He said they could make an arrangement if I didn't leave a bad review. I declined and suggested that they might start by telling the truth to customers.

I called Michael and Sons today and they said they can get me the right water heater that will fit through the attic no problem.

My wife and I both lost half a day of work today because of this company.

From the initial conversation with the pleasant woman who answered the phone to the arrival of Wade the service technician, I was pleased with the experience with Norfolk Air.  Wade arrived within the appointment window and let me know in advance when he was on his way  He was very meticulous in his assessment of the problem.   I received his estimate and also asked for an estimate on boiler replacement.  The sales specialist Taylor arrived within the half hour and did a very thorough appraisal of the heating needs of the house. Both men were personable and efficient. I haven't yet decided what to do to resolve my issue but Norfolk Air was a pleasure to do business with.  I found them extremely responsive, professional, and thoughtful.  I would definitely recommend them

I would definitely recommend Norfolk heating and air to anyone. Each time I've spoken with someone on the phone they've been very helpful and patient. On two different occasions they have come out to my house, one for a repair and one for a cleaning, and both guys have been professional and have taken the time to answer all my questions. I will continue to use this comoany

They were friendly and helpful over the phone. Cassidy was prompt, friendly, and professional.  However their price to repair/replace an exposed wire was over $300 on top of the service call fee - crazy!  Have called 2 other companies to get quote for same service because I thought I was just in sticker shock. Nope. They are price gouging. I still need work to be done but will not be using this company again.

After having been rescheduled several times a day and then cancelled on by voicemail 15 minutes before the end of the day that I stayed home from work by another local HVAC company, I came to yelp just wanting to get the work done and hopefully by a company that respects my time, I found Norfolk Air.  Thank goodness.  They gave me an 8-9 arrival time on a day that was convenient to me for work.  At 745, the tech called to let me know that he wouldn't be there right at 8, but that it might be 815 instead.  Night and day difference from the other place!!  The technician, Tyree, was 100% professional, wore booties over his work boots in the house, explained everything he found in detail and provided an emailed report before he left.  I have already recommended this company to a friend and the appointment was yesterday.

Quoted $189 on the phone to clean a boiler. Arrived quickly and on time. But then deemed the unit too difficult to clean for that price and quoted us a new price of $1,400. We declined.

Taylor was extremely knowledgeable and knew the system I needed to replace my 12 year old heat pump, air handler and thermostat. The installers did a great job getting my air handler into a tight space. I would highly recommend Norfolk Air.

My ac unit was out when I came home from work; temp inside was 81 degrees. I called at about 6pm and scheduled a tech for next day between 10-12. Next am the tech offered to come a little early at 9:30am. He replaced the capacitor and got the system running. We knew we had a leak but he couldn't repair it unless we specified to have a leak check performed. That was another day but at least they wouldn't charge us $89 to just come out. Be weary. This company offers a $25.00 incentive to leave a review, so you are tempted to do so. However it's only an incentive, bthey don't follow through with the offer.
NOW THAT I FOUND PRIDE MECHANICAL, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM INSTEAD. IM NOW A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF PRIDE MECHANICAL!!

We've had to call Norfolk Air on several occasions for different reasons. They're professional, responsive, timely, quick, fair and easy to work with. It has felt like they genuinely care about their clients They have always been on time, if not early; they call to sty in strong communication and to make sure early is ok. We will continue to use them for any household needs.

We had an after hours main drain clog. We had the clean out cap off and knew the clog was about 15ft from the clean out. I was told the service fee was 89$ for after hours. When the tech John showed up he took one look told us it would be  $800+ but if we bought his service plan (smallest plan was $180 for the year) the bill would go down 50% to $570+. When I asked what the costs were he said $192 was the after hours service fee ( I refused to pay the shockingly more than doubled service fee) and told me the rest was the price the company charged to snake the main drain. And that he couldn't do anything about the price because that was the company price. We asked him to leave. This tech previously worked for Roto-Rooter and did that same song and dance when we called them last year which is why we didn't call them this time. We won't be calling this company again either. When I complained, the supervisor was only concerned that we hadn't paid the service fee which was magically back to $89.

Fantastic service - fair and honest in all respects. For several years now, we have used Norfolk Air for our heating and A/C needs. Not once have we been surprised by something unexpected. Their method of coordinating service times, calling for reminders, and punctuality are something to be emulated by all in the service industry. Their performance over time has made us trust them implicitly and we will continue to use them for all our future HVAC needs. Thanks to a great team! Have a Happy New Year!

They were very helpful and fast. Our air conditioning went out at the end of June when it was 95 degrees outside. Not to mention I was 5 months pregnant! They installed window units for free until the parts came in for our new system. They got the job done in the exact time frame they quoted. They were also extremely helpful with guiding us on financial options and explaining what and why things need to be done! They were overall life savers!

Having tried a competitor (big corp in a yellow van), these guys are the best. Chris T. was prompt, accurate and did it right the first time. Others will try and sell you; Chris and Norfolk Air sell themselves!  Look no further than these guys!

Please save your money and just call your local plumber if needed. Is this company responsive? Yes. Are they friendly? Yes. Are they affordable and comparable to other companies regarding price? Absolutely not. I was charged $572 for them to unclog my washing machine drain and seal an easy to reach sink pipe with primer and glue, taking a little over one hour worth of work. Check out the picture to see yourself ‍ Their reasoning - the company has a ton of overhead. Well, at least they came up with some reason for the high bill because it couldn't have been the supplies or labor for this particular job, haha.

This is my second review for Norfolk Heating and Air. This time I needed a section of my cast iron sewer line replaced. Justin and Mike arrived on time and were friendly and eager to get to work. After the section of piper was removed , Justin showed me a picture of the inside of my main drain line . OMG! It was just about completely blocked with 30+ years of ?????. Even though this wasn't scheduled , they offered to come back and pressure clean the drain . Even though my drains were working fine , they didn't t want to leave knowing that I had an issue. These guys are first class. They cleaned up like they were never there. I give them 5 stars .

This company is great. After getting several other quotes we ended up choosing this company because they sent a representative that knew what he was talking about, he wasn't a sales man like the one Sears sent us. They don't subcontract work. They call and send a email with the picture of the specialist coming to do the work. They clean after the jobs is complete and are professional. They will do the job right the first time!

This was my second visit from Norfolk Air. An electrician was sent out to check my circuit breaker box and install a timer switch. Wes came out and he was fantastic. He quickly found and fixed the issue. I told him that I recently had a significant leak in my home and he checked the entire electrical system, which gave me great peace of mind. He also quickly installed a timer switch for my outdoor light.

I had been thinking about getting a service contract for my HVAC system and Wes shared that everyone with a contract gets a discount on other services. I quickly signed up, got the discount, and now have reputable HVAC service.

Overall, I had a fantastic experience. Wes was on time and consulted me  every step of the way.

I highly recommend Norfolk Air and will continue to use them for years to come.

Of course the day before Christmas Eve and when we are expecting guest to come stay at our house that night, both toilets in the house decide to stop working.  I was expecting to have to beg someone to come to my house to fix the problem. Instead I  was greeted by a pleasant employee who was able to to book a technician right away and come to my house within two hours. While we waited for the technician I was sent an email with a picture of the person who would be coming to to my house. I have never had a company do that before and loved that I knew who to expect. Chuck was our technician and he was nice, professional, and able to fix our problem in a very timely manner. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to anyone who needs a plumber.

I realized my AC wasn't working, did some research and decided on contacting Norfolk Air. I didn't think i would be able to get someone to come out that same day but I was. Brandon called before he came out and arrived in a timely manner. He discovered my ac was frozen and had me turn off the unit and let it unthaw overnight. The way their scheduling goes is you wait to be called for a follow up appointment the next day which I received early, maybe 8 o'clock. I scheduled for 12-2 and Brandon called to ask if he could come earlier which of course I said yes to. I'm happy to say my AC problems have been fixed to my satisfaction. The services were very professional, and well explained. If you need a company that knows what they're doing without trying to pinch every dollar they can this is the company to go with.

We have been under contract with Norfolk Air for a couple of years now and are very impressed with their service.  We had a little problem yesterday morning with no heat and they were out within a couple of hours.  The problem returned a couple of hours later and poor Brandon came out again last night around 7 and needed a part, which he promptly showed up with this morning.  We never have to wait for service and they are very responsive and prompt.  We even get a little e-mail prior to their arrival telling us who their service tech will be.  I like this company - they bring back that old-fashioned service

This company is amazing! In a world of sketchy contractors who never call you back, these guys are honest and easy to reach.

We've had them fix our HVAC twice, perform maintenance work, and most recently they pumped out some flooding in our basement. The dispatcher Sarah is very helpful too. They've been great about keeping to their time windows and even adjusting when things came up for me. Thank you Norfolk Air!

The first time I used Norfolk Air, they sent a guy out to clean and check our HVAC system, well after he left, I checked and the outdoor unit was not cleaned and I didn't see any difference on the attic unit neither. Ok well the first time is free so I let it go. Later when it was very hot, the AC was not blowing much air and not keeping up so had them back out and the guy said some ductwork had a leak and fixed it. Well it held up for a couple days and then the same thing happened! Being handy, I went to take a look and the whole top of the outlet duct was leaking and the guy had plastered it with white duct sealer which didn't hold! They wanted to send the guy back out but we needed AC so I fixed it myself and hasn't leaked since. I also cleaned everything up that they missed. I plan on having the whole system replaced in the spring but will not use these guys. Can't recommend them.

Norfolk, VA (Not College Park, GA)

I contacted Norfolk Air regarding two issues that I had (1) checking the gas supply line for a potential leak and (2) troubleshooting a set of gas logs to determine why the pilot light would not stay lit.  On the initial call I made certain to confirm that they had expertise in handling both issues, knowing that I would have to pay an $89 service fee.

They showed up with a bottle of soapy water and, using their cell phone flashlight (not a regular flashlight), attempted to locate the leak from the supply line to the oven.  Only one of the three guys that showed up seemed to have an idea of what to do.  As for the gas logs, they did not perform any diagnostics - in fact they said their systems did not provide any method of providing an estimate to fix.  Their only recommendation was to completely replace the entire fixture.  I'm not kidding - they didn't even try because they didn't know what to do.

I called the plumbing supervisor to make him aware of this service call and to see if he would waive, or at least adjust, the service fee (which I paid before they left the house).  He was not about to make any adjustment and said he was satisfied with the service call.

Be careful when requesting a service call with this company.  A good idea would be to require that only seasoned employees are sent to your home.  These guys were very new to the company.  I doubt they had any previous experience.

I have disputed the charge of the service fee with my credit card company and expect to have this issue resolved with the bank.  I truly believe that I was mislead by the company that they could adequately provide the service that I needed.

This company will find a way to take your money. After taking my service call $100 they told me I needed to be on a monthly plan to get the preventative maintenance completed on my system. I told them I had a home warranty and they said I didn't qualify for the subscription. I asked what the maintenance would cost and they said oh it's over $1000 without a subscription they took my money and left. No service rendered. This was just my experience. You might have better luck. Then again, why take the chance?

I have had nothing but an awesome experience with this company. After months of frustration with dealing with the sub-par servicemen from our home warranty, we decided to just pay out of pocket to have a new HVAC system installed. Norfolk Air was the second estimate we received and we immediately decided to use their services because the customer service experience was phenomenal and professional, and the quote was affordable and reasonable. We currently have an affordable payment plan and a warm home. The installation was swift, the workers were diligent and made sure to clean up behind themselves. Today we had the system check and cleaning by Tyre, and he was prompt, professional, and informative. I would highly recommend them to my friends and family.

We were in a pinch, it was Sunday afternoon and half of the electrical outlets in our house did not work.  We called all the places that stated they were open 24 hours and will come out on Sundays but Norfolk Air and Heating was the only company who would come out on Sunday.  The service person who came out was very knowledgeable, very helpful and fixed the issue in a short amount of time.  I will call them first from now on with any issues I have with my house.
