Claflin Plumbing & Gas Piping Service

I'm a very happy customer and will definitely recommend Clafin's Plumbing to anyone.  Small family owned business with an unmatched level of customer and professional service.  Calfin's is the only gas company that I felt provided an honest and fair price estimate.  If you need gas or plumbing work do yourself a favor and get an estimate from Steve Clafin.  Steve was the only person/company that explained the scope of work in detail.  They even provided an explanation of the permit and city inspection process as well as current gas standards and codes compliance.  This was the only company that did this!!!  Everyone else just simply provided an estimate after a quick 5 minute assessment.  One company was even as high as $1580.  

About the job...I wanted to convert my electric range to gas so I purchased a GE Cafe double oven range from HD.  Later to find out HD and Lowes does not provided contract service for this type of work.  My house has gas service to two furnaces and my water heater so I thought it would be a inexpensive job.  I obtained estimates from a few different companies and Clafin's price ranged $600-700 less than the others.  My job required about 30-35' of copper line, various fittings, required regulators, flex tubing, and shut off valve.

Steve and Steve Sr have 40+ years of gas/plumbing experience so they know there stuff and were able to get my job done extremely quick!  Donna handles all the administrative and financial stuff and is extremely nice and professional.

If you get a cheaper estimate from another company be sure to inquire if the job includes filing for a work permit and inspection with the city.  The permit and inspection is only $61 so beware of any company that tells you it's not needed.  I know we all want to save money but it's not worth risking the safety of your family or property to save a few dollars.

Bottomline...talk to Clafin's before having any gas or plumbing work done.  If they aren't the cheapest price I'm sure they'll be happy to explain to you why

Super attention and excellent work done without letting go any detail ensuring a great quality of work. Very professional and helpful staff I recommend they are excellent!

I called to get an estimate on repairing pipes.  They told me that it was too small a job to warrant an in-person estimate but that a plumber would call me back and discuss it with me on the phone.  Nobody ever called me back.  I guess they only take jobs that cost a lot of money.

Mr. Clafin is very professional, however his wife who runs the office end of the business is unprofessional and rude.  Our initial call was prompted by a foul smell in the plumbing of our downstairs bathroom. The service call ended with the changing of the studor vent in the kitchen.  The bathroom smell returned a few weeks later and they came back and charged us a second service call for the same problem.  The studor vent was changed in the bathroom and we received a bill for a second trip service call.  When we called to discuss the bill and highlighted the fact that if both vents were changed during the first visit a second visit would not have been required, we were met with a very curt and incredulous conversation with Mrs. Clafin who said no way would they waive or reduce the second service call.  Finally, after a second call, she waived 25$.  Sadly, I will never call them again, solely because of the wife's bad attitude.

Put a sink in my kitchen and they were quicker and cheaper than other quoates and did an awesome installation.Would recommend them any time.

They showed up on time and installed plumbing under the sink and a garbage disposal. One of the lines installed leaked, but we fixed it with some plumbers tape. Water pressure was low to hot water and we discovered it was connected to the wrong outlet. Not their fault since the correct line was hidden about 1/2 below the cabinet--so we installed it ourself. They were unable to install the reverse osmosis filter as it was incompatible with our faucet. I returned the filter to the store already.

Overall, they did a beautiful job on the plumbing under the sink. I lowered a star because there were some communication issues during the installation and the leak.

It's a great family business with low overhead. Highly recommend them for your plumbing needs.
