HISTORY

Established in 1947.
Wilson Plumbing Company is a third generation family business that was started in College Station, TX by current owner Terry Wilson's grand father. Initially opened as an appliance store, C.O. Wilson quickly realized that the need to provide plumbing services to compliment the appliance sales was necessary. That is how Wilson Plumbing Company was born. Terry Wilson would spend summers as a child working with his grandfather, and learning the plumbing trade. After the passing of his grandfather, Terry Wilson became the third youngest plumber at the time to receive his Master Plumbing License in December of 1981. Wilson Plumbing Company was opened in Austin, TX by Terry Wilson while his older brother continued to run the College Station store. Currently, Wilson Plumbing Company maintains the same principles, ethics, and dedication to the ever changing world of plumbing that was embraced by his grandfather. A true American family business success story.

I have never purchased a new sink. Apartments and homes came with sinks that were just fine. In our forever-1925 home with a sink that is many many years old and rusting, it was time to make that purchase.
Terry of Wilson Plumbing provided recommendations to make purchases and talked with me on the phone while I was at the plumbing supply shop to ensure that I was purchasing what I would want and need to be satisfied with the selections. Jedidia of Wilson Plumbing installed the new sink. There were unexpected complications. Jedidia kept me informed and is clearly highly competent and even keel. The end result is perfection for our household.
Wilson Plumbing Company is an invaluable partner in purchasing the right plumbing fixtures and supplies and then for installation. The sink and set up is exactly what we had hoped to have in the kitchen. Must add that Wilson Plumbing has handled emergencies and maintenance for us for many years. Good folks to have their phone number right at hand. Photo included.

Wilson Plumbing installed a new water heater for us last month. The installation was more complicated because of the space in our old house. They did a great job and we are pleased with their work. The employees were very professional and friendly. We highly recommend them.

Always excellent service.  They've kept my 70 year old house going, working with me over time to replace parts of the plumbing system without updating the whole thing at once, unclog tree-root clogged drains, etc.

Always great, always professional.  Recent waterheater install was fantastic.

This is the best plumbing company I have ever dealt with.  Anytime we have a plumbing issue in our 80 year old home, this company always responds quickly and gets the issue resolved while minimizing the costs and not trying to sell us a bunch of stuff we don't need.  It's truly hard to find service like this nowadays and I can't thank them enough for everything.  Look no further than Wilson Plumbing for your plumbing needs!

I don't like having to post these type of reviews when I've been a long-term customer but I feel obliged because my most recent experience was very frustrating. I have two cranky bathroom faucets (BTW - never, ever buy Hansgrohe). 2-1/2 years ago I called Wilson to replace the locked up, corroded cartridges. We got all 4 controls done in 1.75 hrs (I have the invoice), albeit the plumber installed the cartridges in the wrong locations so our handles have been turning the wrong way, but we'll overlook that. Yesterday, we spent almost 2 hours and only got one set of controls done. When the plumber started to work on the second set of handles and they weren't budging either, I threw in the towel. As he's resetting them he tells me that in cases like this it's easier to just cut them off. WAIT A MINUTE! I told him at the outset that the manufacturer had sent 2 new faucets. We even used replacement parts after the first handles were useless despite his careful removal. Why am I wasting time and money to have him remove them in a laborious fashion and only getting half the job done? And, after repeatedly dropping heavy tools on the bottom of my finished cabinet I handed him the towel on the counter to protect the cabinet, which had splinters by the time he left. And, there's the matter of the faucet that got severely scratched by a screwdriver he carelessly wielded over and over again. And, am I going to be charged for the assistant who sat on the floor and watched the whole debacle for nearly 2 hours but had nothing to do (with the exception of jamming a tool box into my door trim and denting it)? The kind of episode that just makes a homeowner want to scream.

This is a business that you get what you pay for. You call them, they answer, they get a someone to your house as fast as possible (which has been the same day or sooner in my cases), then they do exemplary work. Then they mail you the bill. It might be $20 more expensive than someone else, but it's worth the extra cost.

Highly, highly recommended

The Team at Wilson saves me again!

I have used Wilson Plumbing for a number of projects and service issues now at my home. I can't tell you what a great group of people they are! From taking my call to showing up at my door, I am always amazed at the professional service I receive from all of them! Their prices are fair and they do not take advantage of a customers lack of plumbing knowledge!

I operate a Airbnb and the Wilson Team has saved me and my guest two times now on emergency calls with short notice! I trust these folks and i'm so happy to have to have found Terry, Chris, Danny and the rest of this incredible team!

We remodeled a bathroom several years ago and as never before we have smelled sewer gas.  After several attempts to get it fixed, I called Wilson Plumbing. I told Terry Wilson about the problem and he sent out Jedadiah who lowered a camera down through the venting pipe and saw that a joint had not been sealed. Today, Jedadiah returned and did excellent work in making the repair. We will remember service we got over the phone and in our house and will call Wilson Plumbing when we need help again.

I can't say enough good things about Wilson Plumbing! Have you ever called a plumber for a repair and they just tell you how to fix it yourself over the phone? Wilson does and that is why I will use them and recommend them for years to come. It was an easy fix, but come on, they didn't try to make a quick buck off of me and I appreciate that. (They have done work on my home in the past and the work, cost, and professionalism also was superb!)

Review update: they made it right! We called and discussed our inability to get a rebate, plus the amount of time spent, and Mr. Wilson heard us out, talked to the plumber who did the work, and discounted the cost of the job with the exorbitant bill. Add it to the list of pros: these people are indeed professional. I will call them again for major plumbing work.

I thought I was a pessimist, but even *I* was able to seriously underestimate the exorbitant cost of some recent gas work I had done by Wilson Plumbing. I have had similar work done in the past - running a gas line in a home from floor to attic- and it did not take 6 hours or cost nearly as much. Upon opening the bill: ouch.

First, the pros: whoever picks up the phone does his best to get a handle on your needs and understand the situation. I also used these guys for a repair on a rental property and for understanding my billing needs and tenant contact info, bravo. And the work is done well - you're paying for a licensed plumber. It ain't cheap.

Cons: I was told the installation of a gas line for my dryer would take about 2-3 hours. I guesstimated that would be about $500 in labor. We added on another small repair when we made the appointment. The whole ordeal took 6 hours, mostly because of the inability to poke through attic insulation. My husband ended up having to hand them a golf club from the garage to get it done. Shortly after they departed, we discovered a gas leak in the laundry room, caused by a cracked fitting on the dryer, which necessitated another visit the following morning. (Fixed at no charge.)

Mega cons: 6 weeks later we got a bill that's about the house payment, billed for 6 hours of labor. $140/hour to poke holes in insulation. What's more annoying, I then found out Texas Gas Service offers a $300 rebate for dryer gas valve installation, but our install won't qualify because the plumber did not get a permit. Again, ouch.

After someone in the household (not me!) tried to dispose of pulled pork down the disposal, the subsequent clog and vibrations from the disposal led to much of the pipes under our sink coming loose.

Wilson Plumbing was on the spot and came out the next day. Their plumber was polite and responsive. He cleared the clog, replaced all the plumbing, and did it all the right way. He took the time to explain to me how the previous install was done incorrectly and how that was contributing to the problem. I'm confident now that the piping was done correctly and in alignment with best practices.

I would call them again in a heartbeat.

I had Wilson Plumbing out to fix my shower faucet. They really went above and beyond dealing with my condo's property manager to get the water shut off! And the technician who came out for the repair was fantastic. Right on time, very honest and efficient. It was a pleasure working with Wilson Plumbing, and I will definitely call on them again the next time I need anything.

They are very courteous and saved me a large headache. i had low water pressure downstairs but no issue upstairs and it happened during the freeze weather. all plumbers assumed perhaps it was something to do with the weather or something else. Chris suggested i clean out the aerators on my bathroom and kitchen faucets- even though these were new - he said sometimes sediments can get trapped and sure enough it was. I did this on my own.

i also have another place that needed valve replacement and they came out and did this while i was not at home- this was a new place so it was empty but did the job without any hassle and promptly.

would recommend to anyone and will use in the future.

Let's see. Three bathrooms, three visits from Wilson Plumbing.  No complaints from me, either.

They've come out to fix 2 toilets and one sink. I think every time I've called,  they've told me something along the lines of I've got one customer before you, but I can be there at ____ time. And I think every time, they've been close to that time.  They are usually able to come out within a day or two of the phone call, too.

They have all the stuff in the truck. Very helpful, very quick. Now, I don't know much about toilets or plumbing except to say that the toilet is running non-stop, but I think the price is reasonable.

I spoke to Chris at Wilson Plumbing. I'm writing this review because he was so helpful over the phone.

After a recent hard freeze in Austin, all the plumbers I called were super busy up with emergency burst pipe situations. But only Chris took the time to ask what my issue was and gave me some great advice during our call.

After many more phone calls I finally found another plumber who had an availability, but I'll definitely be calling Wilson Plumbing for any future issues.

I had Wilson Plumbing over to help find the source of a mysterious water leak.  After discussing the issue over the phone, I scheduled an appointment and ultimately a 2 man crew came to help find the source of the leak.  I spent a good amount of time to discuss the issue including showing pictures of the water leaking and the water damage.  They spent approximately 4 hours testing various faucets and also cutting into wall and tile to help find the leak.  As they weren't able to find the source, they felt it likely was a faucet cartridge, and by process of elimination, they felt it was a shower faucet that must have somehow leaked.  They came back on a second trip and spent 2 hours (just 1 person this time) to do some additional testing and did a small repair (about 30 mins) worth of work.  Overall, I felt that while they listened and attempted to find the leak, the cost was much higher than I was expecting and apparently higher than other plumbing companies with similar abilities.  I especially believe that the 2nd person in the crew from the first visit was someone in training or a journeyman - not someone who contributed much other than going to the truck to get a part.  I contacted them to discuss my disappointment and they ultimately said the nature of the mysterious leak was the reason for the extremely high cost and they wouldn't be able to assist or adjust the cost as a courtesy.  They may be good for simple jobs, but I would use a different company for larger or more comprehensive work.

These guys were amazing.  We had a water meter reader tell us about a leak at the main valve (street side).  I called Wilson and within an hour they were at my house to fix the problem.  Plumbing is tricky to estimate over the phone and I was preparing myself for an expensive fix and possible yard destruction.  It ended up just being a loose bolt and they fixed it within a minute.  We will definitely use them again!

I'm very pleased with the professionalism of these guys. First of all they told me about the City of Austin rebates I qualify for, ($200 per toilet!  Whoohoo!) for water conservation, and gave me the exact model number, and where I could buy it myself at a discount on the east side, and then were very easy to schedule to come in and install.

I've got several other plumbing projects, and I'll definitely used Wilson Plumbing again.

We've used Wilson Plumbing in the past. I called them early before opening and left a message. We had a leaking line below our kitchen faucet. They were already booked for the day, but managed to squeeze me in, twice! The first crew came between jobs to stop the leak and diagnose the issue. Then, two hours later another plumber showed up to install a new faucet I bought between visits. Highly recommend Wilson Plumbing.

We have been using Wilson Plumbing for over 12 years now.  We have NEVER been disappointed by them.  They are always professional, friendly, and competent.  They helped us with getting rebates from the city (nice!), have been able to save us money on fixtures, and they've always done an incredible job.
PS: You should actually do business with a company first before you trash it with a bad rating, Matt Q.  All you know about them is the price you say they quoted.

Wilson Plumbing has been taking care of us for years. Always quick, clean, and courteous. Today, Danny came out to snake our washing machine drain pipe. Ours is an older house, but with his years of experience, Danny knew just what to do. He took care to ask questions about the clog/leak; asked if other drains were backing up, too; made sure to locate our clean-out; got square before starting his work. This, plus the time to do the work, plus his cleanup time was maybe thirty minutes, and he left our laundry room spotless. Excellent experience!

Wow... they bill at $128.50 per hour and told me to expect about 5 hours of work to swap out my old dishwasher and gas stove for the news ones I just purchased.

That $600+ for a job that other plumbers are telling me will cost about $200.

Too rich for my blood.

I've lived in Austin for over 20 years and have used many a plumber, but Wilson Plumbing tops them all. Great customer service, and in my case, they came out the same day I called. I had to have the outdoor faucet replaced and the plumber did an excellent job. I'll use them again and refer them to friends without hesitation.

I'm doing this review after thinking long and hard about whether or not to do it. I decided I needed to do it so that other people get multiple quotes before choosing Wilson. Six years ago we bought a 1950's home knowing we needed to replace the cast iron plumbing. We decided to use Wilson based on the recommendation that, although they were expensive, we would be getting the job done exceptionally well. We didn't get any other quotes because we felt comfortable that this company was solid. We rolled the job into our mortgage, waited the weeks while the plumbers did their work tunneling under and behind our home, and then moved in. Within 6 months we noticed the areas where tunnels were dug were starting to sink in. We convinced ourselves it was no big deal (I guess paying $20,000 for a plumbing job made us feel inappropriately secure) and just added dirt to level the ground. Fast forward 5 years and our toilet stops flushing. We assume we have a basic clog but instead find out the pipes under our guest bathroom have sunk half a foot and our toilet is trying to flush uphill. The pipe is separated from the clean-out so there's actually dirt falling into the pipe. Today we found out the pipe broke at one of the joints because it was under so much strain. We've had multiple plumbing companies come by and they have indicated that it doesn't look like the pipes were properly secured during the original job. There is also consensus that they shouldn't have attempted to route our plumbing behind our house and should have recommended going forward. We have no legal recourse as soil shift is not covered under their warranty. No matter that we suspect there was never adequate backfilling to begin with. We've learned our lesson and will 1) get multiple bids 2) never assume spending a lot of money means you are getting it done well. Unfortunately, this is an expensive lesson and we are looking at putting another $10,000-40,000 to get our plumbing fixed the right way.

I had a bad leak that soaked the ceiling of the first floor.  the water was dripping down at a steady pace.  I called a couple of other plumber with no return calls.  I finally reached Wilson Plumbing and spoke to Chris.  He sent Jay over to see what was going on.  Jay took about 10 minutes to find the problem.  It was not a plumbing problem.  The AC drain on the second floor was stopped up and dripping like an open faucet.  Jay could have told me it was a plumbing problem and charged me for it and I would have never known the difference.  I just happened to have an AC guy there changing out an AC and he fixed the problem and all is well.  I just had to pay the service call.  Great Job Jay.

I just want to say that I am still SO IN LOVE WITH WILSON PLUMBING.  Today, the guy came over to fix my toilet.  In his trips in and out of the house, he had to go through my front door.  He tightened the screws on the metal under the door because it was bothering him a lot.  How sweet and wonderful is that?!  Very.

Wilson plumbing hooked me up!! These guys are interested in old houses and dealing w old house plumbing unlike previous plumber I called last week. They got popup assembly to work on antique by using bit of sandpaper to adjust drain size after previous plumber who I also paid 2 hours wasn't able to do and who said I needed new sink. I love my sink! And now it doesn't leak. Also the owner? Who does the booking was knowledgable and informative going in.

Much to our dismay---and despite my honey's best efforts--- our family was in need of a professional plumber. An old friend who does alot of home repair work himself recommended Wilson's Plumbing.

A young man named Chris arrived this morning and quickly took care of making right our broken down mess of 1925 plumbing. He offered us a couple of choices on some materials needed with recommendations and info about guarantees as well. Using an electric saw of some kind and some other massive tools, he had it all fixed up in a jiffy. Chris then proceeded to clean our line. After that he took a look at our two bathroom sinks; he showed me that they didn't really need routing and how to clean the plungers myself in the future. Very nice and personable guy. Also, their price was very reasonable, always a really big plus!

Following the advice of some other yelp reviews, i gave Wilson Plumbing a call to bid on a remodel of a utility room/laundry area. They came out right away and provided a thorough review, discussed a variety of solutions, and in the end provided a very reasonable price. Their scheduling was quick and the work crew knocked the work right out. They even managed managed to clean out a pipe that a few other companies never seemed to have been able to get right.

I am not the kind of person to write reviews - but I felt I had to make time for this. One of my bathroom sinks needed replacing, Instead of going through the big box where I bought the sink - I wished to give my business to the local guy.......from the neighborhood - we live in Allandale.  The  plumber in question broke the faucets while removing them, they where relatively new for faucets - only five years old and in good shape. He was unable to complete the work during his first visit - which was  maybe two hours worth  -  7 days later he came by for another 2 hours or so to finish up. Upon completion I was presented with a 478.00 bill - 448.00 just in labor (plus the new faucets I had to go buy) another 100 and change -more than twice the big box quote.  When I pointed out that seemed a little high too switch out a bathroom sink I was told the problem was my being  a cheap skate because the sink that I bought was cheap and that the problem lay there.  The fellas at Lowe's quoted me 225.00 for that same sinks installation. I don't know, maybe they are used to working with cheap sinks, anyways  my conclusion was that he just was not competent.  Truly - who wants to have to write one of these things,  I honestly just hoped to find a good local plumber,  sadly I did not.

I am giving this guy two stars because he was prompt, and mindful of his business. However he loses the other three because he gave me an estimate of 375 for a new water heater and the charged me 800 (after I negotiated with him) The part I find appauling was that he said he never gave me a estimate for 375,  upon futher research i found that his price was a little high but ok, but had i known it was going to be that expensive i would have called around for a few other estimates. oh yeah and when i started kicking up sand about the price he threatened to go rip out the new water heater...sweet.

After all the great reviews, I called Wilson plumbing to perform a hydrostatic test on a home I was planning to purchase.  On the phone, I was told that it would cost b/w $150 and $300.  The plumber was unable to get a seal on the line which meant that the test could not be conclusive.  I was charged $450.

Wilson Plumbing is simply the best plumbing company I have ever dealt with. Terry Wilson is both wise and entertaining. He worked with me over the course of a remodel and told me what he need me to do in terms of demolition and prep for his team to come in and re-plumb the entire house and install fixtures for two baths and a kitchen. The price was quite reasonable, the work stellar, and I learned some things along the way. I recommend them to all of my friends with no hesitation.
