HISTORY

Established in 2001.
I have been in the plumbing trade since 1984, starting out in solar-heating. After many years working for others I decided to give it a try working on my own. My first day as Union Jack Plumbing was May 17th 2001

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

I am a one man business. I receive 20-60 phone requests a day, as well as 10-20 text requests. This leaves me very little time to respond to email as well. I check email once or twice a month, so text and phone are the only way to schedule that I really accept .
My business philosophy is to give customers quality service with top-grade materials at a fair price. I warranty my work for a full year. My typical toilet repair lasts 5 years before needing service again. I do not offer 24 hour or weekend service , my average workday is 10 hours, plus up to an additional 2 hours responding to work requests . For that reason , I may take over 2 days to respond to calls etc.

Nick was fantastic and on point.  We needed a new bathroom vanity faucet installed and he knocked it out quickly and efficiently.  He even corrected a few issues with the previous install and made everything right.  He's reliable, honest, and experienced.  I'd highly recommend him for any plumbing repairs/installs.  He was excellent!

I used Union Jack Plumbing to fix broken shut off valves and change a faucet.  Union Jack did both very quickly, correctly, and for a reasonable rate.  I would use Union Jack again.

I was very pleased with the service provided by this company. He installed new plumbing under my kitchen sink and moved the gas pipe which was too high to allow the new new range to be placed flush against the wall. Everything was done in a quick and efficient manner. Needless to say, Union Jack is saved to my contact list :)

Nick is going to be our future plumber, even though we haven't had him fix anything himself yet!

Our fridge went out this weekend, and I quickly found a replacement for it. As we were moving out our old fridge, the little hose thing in the wall that would hook up to the fridge's ice maker and water dispenser refused to close because the valve was stuck open. We turned off water to the house over the weekend since we couldn't get the water to stop leaking if the water main was open.

Cue three days later, we all smell bad and are frustrated over the lack of care from my home warranty company to get someone to come out to fix what I would call an emergency water issue since we don't have water (either we flood the house to get a shower in, or not have any water to the house at all). Unfortunately, our problem started on Saturday, and plumbers generally don't work weekends unless you're willing to pay $$$.

We gave up on our home warranty company and called around local plumbers to see if anyone could come out today (Monday). Unluckily for us, all plumbers we called were not free until Tuesday.

When we called Nick, he picked up right away and my boyfriend explained the situation to him and how we've tried to figure it out so far. He commended my boyfriend for getting as far he did with the problem, and further explained to him how to fix the leak ourselves with a hose bib and some plumber's putty/dope(?). He told us we didn't need him and could do it ourselves.

30 minutes later, we have water to the house and no leak at all. I highly recommend Nick even though we haven't used him (yet) due to his extreme kindness in helping us fix our own problem. We'll be going to him once my home warranty expires and we have further plumbing issues in the future.

This was just as good as I hoped it would be. First off, I had spent several days trying to fix a poor design in the plumbing that the builder had originally installed, by myself. As an official Rocket Surgeon, this was a very bad idea (I know, I know, I have seen all the shows and commercials where the lady of the house yells NO! when the gentleman of the house gets all his tools and then goes to the hardware store). This was a drainage issue. This had to be fixed or over time, there could be an incident and water get behind the sheetrock. So YELP worked out perfectly. I read a review by a fellow Yelper who had just used Union Jack. I kept reading and found a number of my Yelp friends also had good results.

Now the meat and potatoes. I called, got a voice mail which also gave the number of Nick's cell. I called and he answered immediately. We quickly discussed the situation and he said he was finishing a job nearby and could come by shortly (!). However, I had to leave, so we agreed on a time the next day. The next day comes and he arrives exactly on time. As I had sent TXT photos the previous day, he knew what to expect. He worked extremely fast and did not do the usual chit chat to extend the clock time. Also, he had all the parts in factory sealed shrink-wrap in his van and did not have to add an hour of time by going to the hardware store, which seems so common. He resolved our issue by replumbing as it should have been done originally. In short, no damage to the sheetrock or behind, everything worked perfectly and the cost was 30-40 percent less than others. Sadly, he only does light plumbing now, but his card is now on our refrigerator. Extremely satisfied and pleased to pay for a job well done!

I can't say enough good! He was so helpful in guiding me through the process of getting the correct fixtures before he came to install. If he hadn't I'd have had the wrong parts for our bath remodel. Friendly and professional. He wore a mask the entire time working which we appreciated for his safety and ours. He was on time and reasonable prices. We will use him again.

Nick is the BEST. We hired him to unclog a sink, and replace a faucet in the upstairs bath. My husband had tried Draino and Liquid Plumbr, two different snakes, plus a good old fashioned plunger with no luck. Nick had that clog cleared out in less than 10 minutes! Friendly, fast, fairly priced, and in the time of Coronavirus, I am happy to say he wore a mask to keep him and us safe.

I've never met a plumber, or any repair guy, as good as this guy.  First, he can fix frickin' ANYTHING.  Second, he does it fast, and has the parts with him.  Third, his prices are usually lower than other estimates.  He responds to service requests right away, even if he can't do it (a rarity), and he gives you a one-hour arrival window (not two, not four), and then arrives on time, every time.  The first time he came, he took less than an hour to fix the problem, but since I was paying for an hour, he spent the rest of the time going around the house fixing other little plumbing issues until his time was up.  He's polite and explains what he's doing quickly and clearly, and why you might or might not choose to do some repair.  I've never had a better plumber, I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just had the best experience with this kind man. We spent at least total 30 min on the phone he was trying to help me fix my plumbing issues without even having to come out!!! What a nice man. Unfortunately, I did need him to come install a brand new garage disposal. We was so friendly, fast, efficient and fair with his pricing. He's doing all his precautions (N-95) mask and if you've been sick recently or out of the country he won't see you at the moment (fair). Highly recommend

I just had the best shower in years thanks to Union Jack Plumbing!! My shower had been either too hot or too cold for so long that I thought I would have to have an entirely new shower installed ($$$$).  Nick worked on it for about an hour and it runs better than it did when we first had it installed!
I'm very pleased with the quality of work, promptness and reasonable cost of Union Jack Plumbing.  I feel that we have found our household plumber and I highly recommend Union Jack!

I hired Nick Green from Union Jack Plumbing to uninstall my kitchen sink prior to my countertop installation. He was then asked to come back two days later to reinstall my new sink, faucet and hot water dispenser. I want to go on record that I had a really positive experience working with Nick. When he came out the first time to uninstall my kitchen sink, he made some recommendations that really made a big difference to me. He knew I was getting a new sink so he advised me to buy a new sink assembly kit so that I would have a new stainless steel ring with my new sink. I had not thought of that. I actually did not realize how that would make a big difference in the look of my sink. He also noticed that my filter for my hot water dispenser needed replacing so I was able to order one from Amazon overnight. My installation went smoothly and I was totally pleased. Nick is very knowledgeable and experienced. He takes the time to understand what you want and not only comes prepared to accommodate you but will help you make sure that the final result will be what you want. I couldn't of been more pleased. Nick is now on my preferred home vendor list.

Needed a bathroom spout replaced, had been installed poorly by DIYer. Showed up on time, was very friendly and informative about the job, said that because the job needed some soldering it would cost a little more than usual.  Job took exactly one hour and the charge was 280$. part installed was a 35$ part. I know that plumbers are expensive but 250$ an hour seems pretty steep.

Union Jack is my first call for any indoor sink/toilet/faucet type issue. He was on time, professional, and the price was competitive. I've recommended him to my neighbors and they also have glowing things to say.
For us he has fixed a crazy running toilet and replaced a kitchen faucet.

Seriously don't look any further, you will be glad you contacted Nick at Union Jack.

I recently called and made an appointment for some items around the house that have been problematic for a while.  When I left a message, I received a callback within a short while.  Nick was very prompt and arrived on time.  He was able to fix all of the items without issue.  However, this write up would not do him justice if I didn't add a few other things.  Nick is a true craftsman and I must say that I have only encountered such a professional a few times in my life.  He knew how to fix the issue, didn't overcharge for parts that you did not need and above all - this is an honest man.  All of which is a rarity these days.

Would highly recommend Union Jack to anyone and I will be a return customer whenever the need may arise in the future.

So dis dude is da chit.

Nick is friendly, grew up in Greece on an island, went to the same international school I went too, engaging in conversation and even like my wife talks to himself as he works away.  He is a plethora of information and knowledge to boot.  I have had a shower stall that needed a new lever.  I let him know it was a Moen after we went back and forth on phone calls and texts, I called today to see if we could schedule an install.  He actually had a cancellation this afternoon and asked if he could pop by to do the job and I was available.  He called when he finished his job and made his way over and got here about 4.20pm.  The guy works a full day and this I respect.  He came in, got busy, replaced the Moen tap, gave us an option of different lever and bing bang walla wally ding dang, job done.  I frankly don't know price points, but $245 all in, with assistance in picking our a new water heater, tweaked my toilet handles seemed alright.  Second time out for Nick and if I have anything more needed, he will be my guy.. .always.

Thanks NicK!

Very responsive, quick to show up and on time, very knowledgable and communicative about what he saw and what he was doing, was able to tweak multiple aspects of a toilet replacement, had all the spare parts needed with him, checked and double checked the seals and function of the newly installed equipment, compensated for issues with the flooring not being totally level, the foundation not being real solid at the anchor points, etc.  Not the least expensive job, but apparently very well done.

We called on Nick for help with at least two plumbing issues, and he not only resolved both of those issues, but he also ended up pointing out some serious plumbing disasters waiting to happen and helping us resolve those, too.  He pointed out the roots of each problem and explained what he was doing with each job.  He took great care with each job and was a model of helpfulness.  I would absolutely call on him first for any plumbing, hoping he has some availability!!!

I read many favorable reviews for Union Jack and that's why I called him.  I should've read farther back in 2013 and asked for a quote up front. My bad.  He spent less than 2 hours at my home replacing tank bolts on 2 toilets and re-attaching a toilet to the plumbing beneath the tile floor.  He charged me $450.00 without an itemized receipt.  I was in shock, but had to get to work.  He also announced upon arrival that I don't do leaks.  Wow - really?
Plus when I got home that evening - I noticed 2 huge chips in the porcelain at the bottom of my toilet.  I don't know how he did that - but he managed.  Maybe dropped a heavy tool? Who knows - but I won't be using him ever again.  All the nice demeanor in the world won't get you far with outrageous prices and no itemized receipts.  NO THANKS.

I hired Union Jack because of his good rating on Yelp, but my experience differs.

I live in a 17 years old house. The toilet plumbing started to leak after about 10 years. First, I replace them myself. But, later I decided to go for a professional. I found Union Jack Plumbing with good rating. So, I hired him.

He showed up, he worked fast, and each item cost me about $90. I would have been satisfied if this had lasted at least 7 to 10 years. But, no, after 1-2 years, the toilet started leaking water, not on the floor, but down the bowl. The water bill creeps up. I suspect he used the cheapest parts he could find. Now, I have to either replace them myself or hire another professional. If the builder would use parts that lasted 10 years, why wouldn't he?

Overly honest and no nonsense guy. Every time we have had issues he has been able to correctly diagnose the problem and give us an estimate on parts and labor.

He also always gives us the option to pick up the parts ourselves.

Nick, the owner of Union Jack, is bloody amazing.  One of the nicest guys you'll meet and very professional.  Nick was responsive to my initial inquiry and then on time, friendly, professional, and very good on pricing.  Plus, I'm a curious person and Nick had no problem explaining to me how a PRV (Pressure Reduction Valve) works and how many other plumbing things work.  He seemed to relish in sharing his knowledge.  Nick was also very generous with his time.  I called him out for one thing and then had him fix 3 other things that I unfairly sprung on him.  He took it all on with a smile.  Seriously, look no further.  This IS your guy!

My long-established realtor, here in Austin, gave me Union Jack Plumbing as a business contact that she trusted, for both responsiveness, quality of work, and fair pricing.  I can report, with 100% confidence and truthfulness, that Nick, owner of Union Jack, followed through in ways totally aligned with those recommendations.

I always think a specialist--in any field--should explain what he is doing, suggest ways to maintain the fix he's done for a problem, and offer to follow up, should any more questions or issues arise.  Again, Nick gets an A-plus, in his customer service, follow-through, and follow-up.

I will not hesitate to call Union Jack again, should I ever need plumbing upgrades or repair work.  I have no business or family association with Union Jack or with Nick and am very pleased to have this business on my contacts list.

Sorry it took me a few months to get around to writing this review. Let me start by saying, Nick and Union Jack were frankly the best experience I have ever had with a plumber. I built a green house with dual flush toilets before dual flush toilets were readily available in the US and ended up with a strange toilet- installed strangely. And after ten years it needed repairs. Numerous plumbers flat out refused to work on it.

Nick, however, came out and spent the time and thought to figure it out. He really is great at his job, and able to creatively think through the problem to a solution. He also was able to do it for me while I was out of town AND CHARGED A COMPLETELY FAIR PRICE.

On top of all that he is a cool guy to talk to.

I really cannot recommend him more highly. I was about ready to give up and have a whole new toilet install done- but Nick fixed it up!

Thank you again!! I would absolutely use Union Jack's services again!

best,
Geoff

The British are plumbing!
The British are plumbing!

OK, so those of you who know me automatically know that Nick had the inside track based on his sense of humor alone.

I called Nick on a Saturday after my irrigation company and I identified an issue with a valve that could be affecting the efficiency of my sprinkler system.  It wasn't an emergency, but I called and left a message for Nick on Saturday night, because it never hurts to get on any tradesman's list early.

Monday eve, whilst amid an after-hours call from a co-worker, I get this lovely call from a perfectly British Jolly Old St. Nick.  He understood my problem from my phone message, and we made a date for Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Nick promised to call after 11:30.  True to his word, he called shortly before noon to say he was on his way.  He was at my residence within 45 minutes.  To make a long story short, for a few minutes, it really was looking like a Hard Candy Christmas.

Nick took a couple of hours to work his magic with my plumbing.  If you watch him work, you'll know this is one plumber who isn't using any other kind of pipe dope.  When he's done, everything is tight, leak-free, and flows like a firehose.

Speaking of which, during the surgery, Nick had to repair a bit of the apparatus.  Now, that might make most of you squeamish, but in this case, Nick simply tidied up an incredibly inefficient job done by my builder's plumbing subcontractor.  I had always wondered why the washer took 15 minutes to fill, and why a flush of the guest loo caused my master bath shower to slow to a trickle.  Nick solved my flow problem, so now the washer fills in 3 minutes and the master bath shower head actually makes you tingle on massage.

In short:
- Nick is the ultimate professional
- Nick returns phone calls
- Nick shows up on time
- Nick is serious about his plumbing--and yours
- Nick is funny as all get out
- Nick is not out to nick you
- Nick keeps his word.

Five stars seems a plumb pittance, wouldn't you say?

Abraham Lincoln said You may fool all the people part of the time, and part of the people all the time, but not all the people all the time.

Milton Freeman said There is no FREE Lunch.

My dad always said If it seems to good to be true, then it usually IS too good to be true.

And you know what I say? Nick at Union Jack Plumbing ROCKS!!! - and you can Quote me on that!

Why? 54 ea. 5 Star reviews SAYS IT ALL...but I'll say it again;
1.) Personable customer service,
2.) Prompt and dependable,
3.) He gives thoughful explainations you can actually understand!
4.) Fair pricing with efficient work.

He replaced the following;
- 3 toilets (from cheap Vitromex 'builder brand' that are only worth the $22 he prolly spend on them) with awesome Eco-Drake 1.28 gpf model. No more back-ups for me to clean-up!
- Unclogged a 'shower insert' where we had no hot water in the guest shower. No more pissed off MIL for me...yea!!!
-  A leaky drain valve on a hot water heater - so I did not have to replace the whole hot water heater!!
And since I like nicknames...I recommended he be called Nick-the-Quick...but sadly, he declined.....something about 'other implications'...Oh, well....I tried!

After all why would you use some plumber that was your BIL's BFF from grade school?
If you have plumbing issues, give Nick a call.....quick!!

First, a tl;dr - Nick is honest, very reasonably priced, knows his stuff, and is so much fun to visit with. If you don't have time to read the rest of this, take my advice and hire him now. Also, avoid Whirlpool water heaters. They have a part that is known to routinely go out.

My water heater went out. It's not ancient, so I figured that it wouldn't be complicated to repair. Expensive, of course, but not hard to have someone in to do the repair. I was so wrong! I called 5 plumbing companies prior to calling Nick. I hadn't needed a plumber before (lucky me!), so I was just calling based on positive Yelp reviews.

Three companies couldn't see me until the end of the next week. I'm happy they are busy  and thriving, but was getting worried because I really didn't want to be so long without hot water. The two other companies I called never responded to my voicemail messages. These were smaller businesses and I suppose that they were too busy to return my call.

Nick answered my call and knew so much about my water heater that he helped me get a head start on what to do. He explained that this water heater - a Whirlpool purchased at Home Depot 6 or 7 years ago - is known for having this particular part to go out.  I don't remember the name of the part, but it keeps the pilot light on. He suggested that I call Whirlpool and have them ship the parts he would need to do the repair, and also told me that the parts may still be under warranty, something that hadn't occurred to me.

The parts ended up being covered by warranty, which saved me a few hundred dollars. I only had to pay for expedited shipping. I was unhappy that I had to pay shipping at all, knowing that Whirlpool had made the mistake by using inferior parts well after they knew that so many customers were suffering from their mistake.

I texted Nick once I had the parts, and he came over the next day. Our water heater is in the attic. The attic must have been a gazillion degrees.  Up Nick went, and replaced the damaged pieces.

There is more to the saga of the Whirlpool. It ended up having the same parts fail in a week and a half. Nick isn't doing water heater installation at this time, so I called one of the big companies with advertising everywhere to give me a quote for replacement.  I was curious what someone else would charge to replace the faulty parts I could order from Whirlpool.

I was shocked! He wanted more than twice as much as what Nick did to replace parts that I would be providing! His estimate to replace the water heater was twice as much as Nick's very rough estimate. It's almost as if some plumbers have so much work that they lob i out super high estimates.

We are on day three of having a new tankless water heater that was installed by a bigger company. I won't review them yet as there have been a couple of snags. I want to see how they see things through to the end.

If you're searching yelp for a plumber, you probably have an unpleasant situation going on. I wish you speedy and reasonably priced repair.

The first time Nick came to my house to replace all the plumbing under each bathroom and kitchen he was working for Lanier Plumbing.  His cost including parts was just under $300 dollars. I had called one of the more visible plumbing companies and they came out and gave me an estimate of $900.  It was quite a difference. This was at least 8 to 10 years ago.

A few years later I needed a new hot water heater. I called Lanier and found out he had started his own business Union Jack Plumbing.  I called him and he picked up the new water heater and installed it. I was very pleased with his work and cost.

I have used him several more times to change out toilets (etc.) and he was great.

He is a weekend biker and talks a lot about his travels, very enjoyable. He mentioned a dump hamburger place near Johnson City and how he liked the burger there.  I was headed there soon after and stopped and tried the burger and he was right it was good. I don't remember the name of the place.

I highly recommend Nick, he is honest and does an excellent job.

We had toilet, kitchen sink and shower issues at our rental property in Austin and called Union Jack. Nick responded with a price quote that was $200-$400 less than any of the four other highly rec. plumbers (4.5+ yelp stars) in the area so we chose him.

He arrived on time ready to rock and roll and he did. Worked smart and hard for a little over and hour and half (that likely would have taken 2-3 hours for some companies). Total bill including parts was right around $325 which was very fair and reasonable considering the tasks, issues,  effort and great attitude. Thanks Nick!

I love owning a home...but I hate dropping cash on maintenance. I can think of a thousand other things I'd rather spend hundreds/thousands of dollars on, but what are you gonna do?

So when something goes wrong in my home, I am already harboring unfounded animosity toward whomever I need to call to fix my problems. This time it was my hot water heater. The stupid little pilot light would not stay lit. Normally, I would just power through and relight the thing when I wanted some hot water, but with a house full of guests, that was not an option.

Cue the hunt for a plumber. After calling a few places with at least a week's lead time, I came across Nick at Union Jack Plumbing. He answered right away, and asked all sorts of questions about my heater and what was going on. And then said he just needed to pick up some parts and he'd be there in about an hour. Shut. Up. I have a feeling I just so happened to get really lucky on timing since my job was a quick fix...

Nick is a REALLY friendly guy who was awesome about keeping in touch. He texted before he got to the store, and right before he got to my house. He was explained what he was going to do, said it would take about an hour, and then he got straight to it.

Less than an hour later, he was done. He took the time to explain exactly what he had done and why my tank should last another 10 years. And then said he had a one year warranty on his work. And he cleaned all the bird poop out of the tank closet. And then my animosity at paying for maintenance waned a little. A little...

Nick was friendly, prompt, a great communicator and did a great job. Should I need a plumber, I will absolutely be calling him again.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Nick with Union Jack.  He was very quick to respond to us.  Just from the description we gave him over the phone he knew what was wrong with our plumbing. He came out the next day and fixed everything and was under budget. Fast friendly and fair!

I had a clogged drain that needed to be fixed, and called Nick at the recommendation of a neighbor.  He was very responsive, and was able to squeeze me into his schedule on the same day.  He was quick, considerate, personable and even entertaining.  He was my first call when I needed a plumber and will be next time as well!

I have not used many plumbers, but once you find a good one you stick with him.   I've used Nick several times for various jobs over the years and he is always prompt, communicative, and truly cares about doing high quality work as if it was for himself.  Add to that that he is quite funny, and there is really no reason to go elsewhere.

I called Nick because I have an AC condensate drain that is clogged, and my drip pan is full.  I was hoping to find a good plumber to squeeze me into his schedule on the same day (more of a schedule emergency for me, rather than a true plumbing emergency -- due to my personal travel plans and work constraints, I needed to get this done today, or I'd have to wait for over a month, and I didn't want to leave the house vacant for that long with a shallow aquarium in my attic!).   Nick called me back within an hour, and was very polite and courteous on the call.  As it happened, just after I called Nick the first time, another plumber called me back and had had a cancellation, so I jumped on that appointment.  So I didn't need Nick's help anymore.  Nick was gracious and professional about it, and spent some time on the phone with me anyway, telling me what to expect, and how I could prevent this problem from recurring in the future.  Definitely have to give Union Jack Plumbing high marks for promptness, professionalism, courtesy, and generously educating me even though he already knew I wouldn't be using his services today.   Two thumbs up, Nick!

Nick was great.  Has been here twice-is honest, very timely, very pleasant and communicated exactly why things work the way they work in our home plumbing setup, which will help us understand a lot in the future.  Fixed toilet leak & refurbished 20 yr old toilet, cleared sink drain, & tackled water filters, all done well & professionally, cleaned up well after finishing.  Good value-thanks!   I'll call Union Jack  again.

Nick has over 100 reviews on yelp, and almost all of them are 5 stars. The ones that aren't are from people who never actually used him. That should tell you something.

Nick did an amazing job repairing some toilets in our house. He was able to come out the same day and is fast, fast, fast.

I'm very happy with the work he did and he's incredibly charming and a genuinely nice guy. Give him a call.

I called Union Jack after another plumber refused to answer my calls (after giving me a quote and describing a complicated process to change my shower arm).  I described the issue and Nick warned me this could be a difficult fix.  He then proceeded to remove my stuck in shower arm in less than 60 seconds, when the other company (that I have reviewed separately) refused to return my calls after trying unsuccessfully to remove the shower arm. Nick could not have been more pleasant to deal with.  He was professional and friendly, and obviously knowledgeable.  I have saved his number in my phone in case I ever need a plumber again.

Nick is THE BEST!  The quality and pricing cannot be beat, he called back almost immediately and arrived well within the window he'd predicted, and he's a hoot.  The conversation we had while he was repairing a hot water valve and installing a new dishwasher made the time fly by.  Union Jack Plumbing is the only plumbing service we'll use from now on.

Shortly after buying our house, on three occasions, the upstairs toilet leaked and ruined our living room ceiling. Each plumber came out, reseated the toilet assuring it was fixed only to have to tear the ceiling out again due to leaking. Finally, I called Nick, who came upstairs, looked the toilet and said Oh, you have the wrong toilet. You need a #10. (I think it was #10). He explained that the one we had couldn't be placed close enough to the wall, pulled it up and exposed a sizable gap between the toilet and the pipe it sat on. We picked up a #10 toilet, he installed it and it has never leaked again. Again, THREE other plumbers can come out and failed to know that the toilet size was wrong after working extensively to seat it. Nick just looked at it and immediately knew what to do.

BTW, he has also given me a lot of free advice on other bathroom fixers and where to buy them cheaply. He knows his stuff and does it right the first time, and that's worth the slightly higher price.

Yes, I am actually writing one of those reviews where you address the other Yelpers who have reviewed before you.

Daniel C. with your one star for not getting a call back--um, did something bad happen to you and maybe one time your girlfriend or boyfriend never called you back? You know the kind, the ones that say, I'll call you later but then they never do? Even when you got naked on the first date? Even after you named all of your future children together over pizza and three bottles of cheap wine on that fabulous-walk-of-shame-the-next-day-kind-of-evening?

Yes, sometimes people don't call you back. Sometimes you just sound like that kind of bonedog who will leave you a 3-star review even after you do an amazing job. Or, maybe, you have a high voice and no one can understand you when you leave a message. Or, maybe you bought the new 3G iPhone only to have the crappiest voice quality in the world and maybe no one will ever be able to understand you on the phone ever again.

Or MAYBE, just maybe, Daniel C., that lovely Nick at Union Jack did call you back and you just didn't know. Did you ever think about that, buddy?

THINGS HAPPEN. You can always call back unless you did that already and you're just that stalker dude who can't let go.

That all being said, I learned today that leaving a one-star review for this sweet man Nick just about broke his heart, marring his perfect (and well-earned) Yelp five star reviewing average.

There is a reason that Nick has the highest plumber rating on Yelp. It's because he's AWESOME. Even if he didn't call you back, bonedog.

And, in case you're wondering why I am actually writing this review, Nick adeptly fixed the in-ground burst pipe that attaches to our garden hose on the side of our house. While it was fun having an impromptu wet t-shirt contest trying to fix this with my boyfriend late last night in the dark, Nick was a welcomed fix to our plumbing issue!

Yelp don't lie.

Nick will be the only plumber I call as long as I live in Austin.

Honest, funny, pleasant, prompt and reasonable. He took $60 off the bill because, we were sitting around and having a chat for thirty minutes.

We're having some serious plumbing issues and while Nick can't complete the job (he doesn't have a camera to look into the pipes, nor does he tunnel under foundations) he made us feel like we were being taken care of and not being swindled.

Hey Nick, I forgot to ask...you work on cars?

Union Jack saved us from ourselves.

We have spent two years renovating our house, and most of the people we have hired were pretty terrible. Union Jack really saved us from ourselves. Water spewed from the spigots when we watered the beds and garden. It was a mess. For about $130, we were set up with vacuum sealed spigots that do not spew, sputter, spray, or splash the water (How's that for alliteration?)...not a drop. There is no noise in the house as well!  They also come with winterize sealers already installed. So come November, I will be drinking coffee while the neighbors run around to cover their faucets with towels, tourniquets, and toppers (alliteration... ahhh!).

I do not want to make my new faucets to seem though they are more than they are, but it's pretty nice to keep it all clean, green, lean (That's assonance.)

If you could ever say that an experience dealing with a major plumbing issue was pleasant, this would be the time.

Read all the reviews of this guy - they're on the level.  He's professional, funny, on time, reasonably priced, detailed and never hurried.  All service people could learn a lesson from Nick.

We had a situation very similar to that of prior reviewer Kent W.  Our water bills had shot up (over $240 last month alone!) and we found our meter box full of water.  Nick came and immediately suggested that it was a common failure located about 1 meter (an homage to the UK for Nick's sake) down the line.  He dug it up and voila - there it was.  He not only repaired the leak, he improved the situation overall by adding a shut off valve for our use (the City will fine you if they find out you shut off your own water with their shut off valve).  When finished, you'd never know he was even there, digging up a 1 m x .5 m area of your yard.

He is pleasant, funny, chatty and honest.  We talked about other issues I was concerned about, and he gave me estimates and recommendations for all.

We've found our plumber, that's for sure.

It's funny, Chewy C. mentions a reviewer who gave Nick one star b/c he never called him back.  Nick mentioned this today to me - how upset he was that someone would besmirch his workmanship without even having had him work. Make your own decision, but all five stars' from some long-time, known Yelpers sure beats a single one star' from a question mark head who complains about not getting a call back..

If you have plumbing issues (household, not personal), give Nick a call.  He's absolutely top notch, and yet another great Yelp find.  Thanks fellow Yelpers, you pointed the way.

40 reviews with an average of 5 stars? That 's pretty rare on Yelp from my experience, especially for a business like plumbing. But so well deserved. So here's one more 5 star review..

Nick is a super nice and professional guy, I am soooooo glad I called him to come over and figure out where my mystery leak was coming from (turns out I had two, and he found them both). With all these positive reviews, he is definitely in demand, so he is a busy guy and had to push our appointment back a little, but he called to let me know with plenty of notice so I wasn't wondering where he was.

And he's an honest guy - I decided I wanted to replace the kitchen faucet while he was here, even though it wasn't the source of this particular leak (though at the rate it was going would probably have been one in the near future). Nick had a new one with him, made it clear he'd marked it up a little, that I could probably find the same one a little cheaper on my own - I appreciate that kind of honesty, and was willing a pay a little more to get it done right then.

He's also full of some pretty helpful tips, so pay attention.

Isn't it funny when your one-star review mysteriously disappears for no reason? I also ran into the problem that he did not call back, even within the time frame noted on his message. That's something he needs to work on if he wants to have a perfect rating.

Since writing this I understand he has modified his voice mail to include a disclaimer that if he doesn't call back by 8 pm then he will not be able to get to you. If his business is so great then good for him, but that's not a great way to get new customers. The bottom line is that you're taking a chance if you call him, and  you'll have to decide if that's worth it. When it comes to plumbing, sometimes you just can't wait.

I can't really review Nick's work, but, I can say this. I called him after a crappy experience with American Home Sheild sending ARS who told me I needed $1725 worth of work to break up roots. I left a message for Nick, who called me back in about 5 minutes. He's too busy to come out (I'm assuming thanks to all the good reviews on here!), but referred me to another company and told me that his price for this work would be less than one tenth the price quoted for ARS (which was probably for way more work than would have been necessary anyway) and the referral he gave me should be within $50 of that.

So yeah, talk about AWESOME service and avoidance of what could have been a freakin' meltdown on my end. If I've got plumbing needs in the future, and Nick's available? You can bet your butt I'm calling him (and referring him to friends in the future).

I recognize that I can be a fairly difficult consumer and if I feel ripped off, I will do everything I can to insure other folks hear about it in the hopes of saving them some grief.

That's the benefit of Yelp...

On the flipside...  When I come across someone who is priced fairly and displays integrity and competence in their profession, I love to share it.

These 5 star reviews are no joke people.  I've had Nick out to my house several times and if you can get him out, do it.

My water pressure has been horrible for a long time and my neighborhood plumber, who will go unnamed because he lives right next door, never got to the root of the problem.

Nick did...  And for that, I am very grateful.  I was showering with a trickle until he showed up and figured out the city needed to come out and fix a leak.  Nick wouldn't even charge me because there was nothing for him to do.  - He's great.

I've dealt with many plumbers in my time, but none were as thorough and as friendly as Nick from Union Jack plumbing.   We purchased a new kitchen and needed everything hooked up properly.  After trying this ourselves we quickly realized that we didn't have the tools or the skills we needed.

I checked online and came across these reviews and decided that to have 5 stars after this many reviews has to count for something.  We placed a call and a few days later had an appointment set up for him to come over.

When he arrived he quickly identified the work and started getting everything sorted out.  Within an hour or so it was working beautifully and he was able to test and clean the area in a matter of minutes.  Nick definitely has a good sense of humor and was a pleasure to talk to during the job.

For those wondering about the cost he installed the plumbing to my kitchen sink, retooled all of the hook ups and connected the disposal and dishwasher connections for a little over $200.   I found this reasonable and worthwhile given the skill and expertise he was able to demonstrate.

I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a good plumber and after speaking to others and reading the reviews I'm glad we chose him.

My hot water heater went out and I am not fond of cold showers even after coming in from a day in the Austin Heat. I saw the reviews for Union Jack and decided to give him a call. After taking a look he gave me an honest....YES completely honest opinion. the tank appears to be leaking and there is substantial corrosion here. Most likely you are going to have to replace the entire unit. I could spend 3-4 hours fixing it and it may still not work.

and no- he doesn't even sell water heaters so it wasn't an attempt to up-sell me but actually saving me money!

I asked if he charged a trip fee (Another plumber I called in the past charged me $45 to look at two toilets that he didn't even look at and gave me an estimate of $450- I fixed the toilets myself for $12 in parts at home depot)  but back to the point- Jack said NO- he wasn't going to charge me anything. Time is valuable- he even pulled his tools out so I appreciate the kind gesture. I will DEFINITELY call him for any future work.

I did have Nick come out to repair a drippy outdoor spigot and he did an excellent job in a short amount of time at a very fair price. My 5-star recommendation remains intact & I definitely recommend him.

Based on all the stellar reviews I went ahead and called Union  Jack. We were still traumatized over the whole AAA Auger mess and wanted to call someone with with great reviews this time around. He reviewed our issue over  the phone to see if it was a job he could take on. We appreciated this. Because we have a pier beam foundation he was able to come take a look.

Turned out  AAA Auger made more of a mess than we thought and Union Jack had to correct their mess. Nick was great at explaining every thing that what was wrong and why nothing was flowing as it should. He then explained what he was going to try to correct the problem because there was more than one approach to our situation. He explained every step of the way and fixed our pipes.

We found him to be reasonably priced and  is the only plumber we'll use. So these yelpers were correct-this is the best plumber in town!

Seriously, this guy's from England - his name is Nick Green.  On the side of his van there is a silhouette of Paul Revere with the caption, The British are plumbing!  The British are plumbing!  His prices are fair, and you'll have a bloody clog-free drain, mate.

His son, Damian Green, is a local fiddler extraordinaire.  I haven't tried it yet, but maybe if you make the request, he'll come along for an extra fee and play a jig while his dad fixes your pipes.

Nick, the owner, unclogged the tubing bringing hot water into to my kitchen faucet and adjusted the hot water regulator on my shower faucet today. He was able to complete both jobs within 24 hours of us getting in contact with one another and he charged a fair price for quality work. Nick is definitely going to be my first choice in the future when I have a plumbing problem at my house. He has a great personality too!

The problem with a lot of skilled labor contractors are that they're like flaky dates - most of them don't show up or don't even call you back (which has never happened to me, *cough*). I don't think is an Austin-only problem, but it's pretty bad here.

This is where Union Jack is different. Nick shows up (and in Austin that alone will probably get you three stars). Sure, he only did one job at my house and it didn't flood, so as far as I can tell he's not terrible. Once he called me back to tell me that he couldn't do a job, and he recommended other people instead.

One caveat is that he doesn't do big jobs, so if you want to replace all the pipes in your house and pay him with a big sack of cash, he won't do it. He's up front about this because he wants to be on call for emergencies.

So:
+1 point for a very friendly personality.
+1 point for reliability and honesty.
+1 point for a giant British flag on his van.
+1 point for The British are plumbing! The British are plumbing! meaning he's in touch with his feelings about the Revolutionary War.
+1 point for him describing how he drives through 12th and Chicon and waves back at the prostitutes on the street corner.

He's not going to call you back the first day. You know why? Because he is working on someone's sink and he doesn't want to be gabbing on the phone. But he TELLS you that on his voice mail.
Now, he's wonderful. On time. Neat.
Another plumber suggested that I might have to get a new hot water heater. He miiiight be able to make a simple fix, but probably not. Nick came in and made the simple fix - about $120 instead of $2000.
Really sweet guy. I put my two year old in overalls (which Nick calls his happy pants) so he could be like Nick. :)
Really, he's worth the wait.

ALSO: He fixed my wiggly toilet seat. I figured that out three days later when I realized that I was no longer ANNOYED everytime I sat on the toilet.

Nick came out to remove our old kitchen faucet and replace it with a new one we bought. He gave me an extremely spot-on estimate when I called, and also included a high-end estimate in case of specific scenarios. I really appreciated the range and knowing what it would cost if there were some unknowns he discovered under the kitchen sink.

He and his assistant were FAST-- he can obviously do this with his hands tied behind his back! They were also extremely decisive, tidy, and respectful. You don't always get that just because someone is fast.

Needless to say, our faucet was installed perfectly and looks awesome. I don't know anything about plumbing, but it seems like he simplified whatever was going on under my sink before. All I know is that I have more room to navigate and I no longer have a leaky old faucet. Yay!

We also had great conversations about food, dogs, and yes... faucets. He is a great conversationalist and this does NOT change the speed or attention he is paying to his work. I definitely don't want to need plumbing anytime soon, but if I do, I will not call anyone except UJP. Thanks for everything, Nick!

Nick is knowledgeable, nice and efficient.  I will only use another plumber if Nick tells me he can't/won't do something that I need done.  Here's why:

I screwed up, it was my fault.  There was a leak from the faucet of the bathtub and we thought we could fix it ourselves so we didn't call anyone.  We bought replacement parts, opened it up, quickly realized it was beyond us so we called a plumber who came out, told us we had the wrong parts.  We bought the right parts but he couldn't come out for a couple of weeks so we just left it.  We were going on vacation, so we told the plumber we'd set something up for the days right after we got back.  It was a small leak, we figured it would be fine for a week.  No.  Fail.

The day before we left I woke up to start cleaning and packing, went downstairs and saw 3 large bubbles in the ceiling which were leaking - the ceiling was bowing down.  The leak was minor from the faucet but was hellabig in the wall.

I immediately jumped on Yelp and found Nick/Union Jack Plumbing.  I left 2 frantic messages for him: one with my name and number, the second actually describing the problem and sense of urgency.  I really thought we were going to have to cancel our trip.  He called me back very quickly and initially gave me the name of someone else I could call for immediate service but we began talking and he offered to come by after 2pm.  He came to the house with replacement parts, was SUPER nice and friendly, didn't mind my dog hanging out watching him and was gracious to answer my questions (I found what he was doing kind of fascinating).  Within 2 hours the problem was solved.  He even fixed another minor problem for me at the same time.  So, house saved, water bill saved, vacation saved and I will be eternally grateful for his help.

I can't say enough nice things.  If Yelp were the Academy Awards and we yelpers the panel, Nick would have my vote for the Oscar.

I called Nick last week to fix a couple of leaks and install a new faucet.  He talked to me about options before he came out.  He then came out about a week later.

He explained everything he was doing while he was doing it.  He was very efficient and careful.  He fixed everything very swiftly.

He gave me the invoice, and I thought it was very reasonable.

I would recommend Nick to anyone in need of plumbing work.

Needed to cut roots out of sewer line and called on Nick after reading Yelp reviews. He was prompt and efficiently rid our sewer line with 4 passes of his handy cutter. He charged a reasonable $158.

Nick was the third and last plumber we called on for this problem. Two Sundays prior, water from the washer came bubbling up a toilet.  Heaven help us if it had occurred a few minutes after leaving! See my review of ARS Rescue Rooter of that fiasco! Here is what I have learned about clogged sewer lines:
1. Call the city FIRST. They will come 24/7, scope it to locate cause of clog (usually roots) and said scope will probably partially unclog the sewer. There is a meter on the probe to locate the distance from the cleanout.  If needed, obtain for free a dvd of the scope in about 10 days.
2. Call Nick to clean out all remaining roots.
3. Put Rootx in sewer line 4-6 weeks after Nick was there. This prevents root regrowth.
4. Apply Rootx every 1-2 years.
5. If sewer clogs again, begin at #1.
Nick is professional, knowledgable, reasonable and his accent is too fun!

Nick saved me a fortune.  I woke up one Thursday morning to a friendly notice from Austin utilities telling me I may have a leak.  Turns out it was a 46,000 gallon leak from my water main!

As I'm sure you've read from other reviews, Nick is incredibly busy.  I wasn't expecting to hear back until a few days later.  But Nick called me back that day and arranged to come over and take a look.

Nick found the leak and rerouted the pipe, since a tree's tap root had severed it.  He fixed it at a wonderfully reasonable rate.  There's a reason he's so busy - he fixes it right the first time without wasting time.

Thanks again Nick!

Nick with Union Jack is fantastic. Let me begin by my call - When I placed my call, I got voice message system - what was wonderful is that Nick set the expectation - saying that at the moment - he was quite busy and it may take 2 days to get back with me - unlike other services that just leave you in the dark. Sure enough on day 2 he returned my call, he knew exactly what the problems were and in fact he was able to come that day & replace the inner-workings of both of the toilets in my house. His work is top notch, his pricing fair and honest. I will use him for any future plumbing issues/up grades. Highly recommend this gentlemen.

Other reviews are spot on - do not call anyone other than Nick.   Had him do some major work in my previous house and was incredibly happy with his adherence to agreed schedule, attitude and quality of work.   A really good guy all around that doesn't stick it to the little guy, unlike every other big plumbing company I've ever used.   He didn't even complain when he had to crawl around under my 100+ year old house in a really tight and nasty crawl space for an extended period of time.

Highly recommended.

Nick is the man. Professional  service at a reasonable price. I saw the great reviews and gave him a call. The call was returned promptly and he asked questions about the job. This was a simple leaky faucet. I set up an appointment  for repair.
He arrived on time in the union jack van. The van is as cool as Nick. Friendly and fast with no mess. The drip is no more. All and all a first rate plumber.

My pressure relief valve was leaking on my hot water heater.  I called several plumbers and no one could come out for several days.  I called Union Jack and Nick told me the price over the phone and was at my house in an hour and got it replaced.  Great and fast service.

Pretty much what everybody's been saying.  Prompt, competent, efficient, clean, and a genuine pleasure to work with.

Prices are comparable to other places around town, but, hey - why not give your money to the guys that obviously care about how to run a business?

Great service.

Left Nick a message in the morning, he responded that afternoon, and he came out the next day and fixed my bathtub leak. The entire process took less than 28 hours.

He was very knowledgeable and entertaining throughout the repair, and the price was reasonable. Would definitely recommend him to others.

The reason for Nick coming to our house today was to fix/repair work that another company had done so poorly that I thought there was no hope!  Boy was I wrong!

I called Nick yesterday and got a phone call back rather quickly.  He said he could come out today.  I was thrilled.  He asked a few questions about what wasn't working so he could be prepared with the right parts.

Nick called 15 minutes prior to arrival. When he came in the door he toted a lot of tools...so he wouldn't have to keep running to the truck.  Great idea.

My shower head that was so tight and also dripping was fixed within minutes.  Another large company told me there was no hope for it.  Hmmm...listen to Nick!  He won't lie!

I highly recommend Nick.  He knows what he is doing!  Will call him again if I ever need anything!

I called Nick for replacing my kitchen faucet. He was able to immediately give me a solid estimate (barring any missing parts), time required for labor, and an appointment time. He arrived promptly on time and called ahead to let me know he would be there.

The work was clean and well done and he tested the faucet functions after installing. I would gladly call him again for any plumbing needs. Highly recommended.

I had Nick come by again (it has been over a year since he'd put in a dual flush in one of my toilets and now I was ready for him to put it in my other two toilets). My wait time this go-round was a bit longer, but only because he is the best. I had to wait two days after my call for him to come by, and he did amazing and quick work. He told us what he was doing each step of the way too.

Then he gave us a discount on the dual flushers since we were buying 2 at a time. Seriously, great guy, great plumber, well worth whatever wait you must endure.

He just left 30 seconds ago and I can't wait to write an update.  :)

He hooked up the plumbing to our two sink vanity and I can't be happier.  He took care of what could have been a major headache, really looking out for us.  Upon inspection after he was done, he makes sure everything works as it should, no leaks, nothing other than perfect working order.  We really appreciate that.  He always cleans up after, and makes sure everything is done properly.  (I found out about sealing threads and such, which is info the faucet manufacturer doesn't want the consumer to know apparently)

Again, nothing but professional and a great guy, we will continue to call on Union Jack (Nick) any time we have plumbing concerns.  And next time, I wont pretend I can do a simple sink hook up 1st, THANKS NICK!

** I called him at 8:45pm, he called me back at 8:45am the next morning and set up service for the next day (My schedule limitations, not his, otherwise he would have been out the same day).  **FYI:  He's NOT an Emergency, 24/7 plumber **  But will do any plumbing outside of major renovation, and he will wisely refer you to the proper person if need be.

I can't speak about him as a plumber, because Nick suspected from our description we had a blocked sewer line which was not something he handles.  However, he returned my call the day I left him a message to make sure we knew what he suspected and to recommend Johnny Rooter as being reliable and cost efficient.  He let us know what to expect and that he had been comfortable recommending them for years.

He seemed just as concerned that we receive good care from someone else as we might from him and I really appreciated it.  We called Johnny Rooter, by the way and they were just as timely and reliable and cost efficient for the job as he'd led us to believe.  I really appreciate Nick taking the time to tell us how best to tackle our problem, even when it wasn't something he tackled himself.  That, to me, speaks volumes about a persons integrity.

So, I chose Nick and Union jack based on reviews written here on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did!

Nick was fantastic - fast, friendly, fair - he finished the job in under 10 minutes!  I will most definitely be calling him for future plumbing work - no reason to ever call another plumber again.

Thanks Nick for being the best darn plumber in Austin!

Thanks again, Yelpers! Nick is a gem.
Yesterday, he came over to the house to fix my running toilet. He explained everything he was doing and moved quickly. He also improved my flush...and I can't say that about everyone! ;-)
Even though he had other appointments after mine, he took some extra time to test my hot water heater and be fully attentive to all my questions. He was very professional and polite.
Plus, he gave me a few tips for free that I will pass along to my Yelp family:
Never flush dental floss. (It gets hung up and creates an impossibly strong rope that clogs your toilet)
Never put rice down your garbage disposal. (It turns into spackle inside your pipes)
Worth every penny!

I've called Nick 3 times to fix different problems and I've always been happy with the service.  Yesterday he was able to some the same day I called, although he's often so busy it may take longer.  Quick, efficient, leaves his work area clean, and answers all of your questions.

I know there are plenty of glowing reviews already for Union jack Plumbing, but I just had to add mine.

With so many plumbers out there, I was cautious and looked at all the reviews I could find on all the web. Union Jack was always on the top of the list. I called him on Monday evening, called me back the same day and set the appt for Wednesday. Came out and diagnosed the problem (bad heating elements in the water heater) and replaced them in (2) separate water heaters without having to drain and refill like the other plumbing companies quoted to do. That saved me 2 hrs of labor cost right there!!! Other companies wanted to charge a fee to come out, and 3-4 hours for the whole job. Jack did it in just over an hour. Jack is your man for all your plumbing needs.

Oh yeah - to Rick J. that posted he's unreachable, need I remind you that good people are in demand, and that his voicemail states it could be 48hrs before he calls you back. I'm sure that is worst case scenario but some things are worth the wait to get it done right the first time. I called on a Monday evening, left a message and expected to receive a call back in 2 days like is greeting states. He called me back in 2 hours.

When he was here working on my water heaters, his phone must have rang at least 10 times, but he didn't stop to pick it up. He was on my time and focused fixing my issue at the time. I gotta give him props on that.

When he comes out to work on your problems he's focused on you only and calls people back on his own time. That means alot when you pay a guy by the hour.

Nick is very detailed and gives great advice.  He thinks about the best long-term solution for the customer.

He installed high-quality pressure regulation and shuttoff valves within 4 hours of my call, and for a lower price than Henderson and Wilson.  Pressure regulation valves typically fail every 7-10 years, so he installed the kind that could be easily maintenanced 7-10 years from now without digging a giant hole in the yard.  What other plumbers think long term like that?

I called Union Jack Plumbing ~9am this morning and Nick called me back within the hour (they don't open until 10am on Mondays).

He scheduled an appt. for the same day, called me 15 minutes before arriving, made sure he had all the parts needed before-hand by asking for make and description of the faucet, arrived on time, fixed it in a flash and with a smile.

Great experience and wonderful person. I highly recommend.

Nick is a delight---clean, courteous, friendly, professional. Our job was simple: replace a drinking water filtration system. The existing system was too complex for our lower pressure water supply.

When I called, I did get his machine, including the warning that he may take two business days to respond. In fact, he responded later that day, and he was able to schedule me just 2 days out. You should take his warning seriously; if you have an urgent job I might recommend calling someone else. And yet, if you can wait, enjoy the pleasant surprise if he responds quickly.

He arrived when he said he would, calling ahead on his way out from his previous job. His work was quick, complete, and precise. He did some cleanup above and beyond the original job; since it was at my expense, he asked me in advance, of course, so there was no surprise. I'm glad he did it; I have more confidence in the final product. He cleaned up after himself, so the kitchen as clean as when he arrived. That is much appreciated.

And of course, he wore the trademark overalls, so no plumber's crack here.

All told, a great plumbing experience. I happily recommend him to others.

Nick, owner of Union Jack Plumbing, is highly competent, reliable, honest, easy to work with, and charges reasonable rates. It doesn't get better than that!

Nick has done a total of three jobs for us.  Each time I called him, he returned my call when he said he would, scheduled the job quickly, and gave me best case and worst case arrival times. On the scheduled day, he called 20-30 minutes before he arrived, and was well within his estimated arrival time.

Nick installed a toilet a few years ago. He installed it quickly and efficiently, and removed the old toilet. It hasn't given us a moment of trouble. Today, he fixed a leaky shower with parts he had in his truck and even took the time to polish up our moldy shower fixtures!  He also advised me that instead of installing a new shower stall, we could  simply replace the old shower fixtures with new ones at a much lower cost. Our kitchen faucet was not running at all, so I was prepared to buy either a new fixture or a major replacement part. Nick, however, looked for the simplest solution first. In no time at all, he had fixed the faucet by cleaning and replacing a small, inexpensive part and removing an unnecessary part that impeded the flow. The water flow now is stronger than it has ever been.

My experience with Nick has been uniformly good.  I highly recommend Union Jack Plumbing.

Fantastic service!! I called on a Thursday morning and got Nick on his mobile phone on the way to another job. I had started repairs on the incoming water line into our house and had run into a few complications that I wanted a professional to take a look at.

He was great! Listened to the details of what I'd done, gave me a quick rough guess estimate on what the cost would be for the additional work and said he be by as soon as he finished his current job.

He arrived exactly when he said he would, quickly assessed the situation and made the fix under budget!

It's always so refreshing to find local businesses like Union Jack Plumbing, honest, upfront and gets the job done. Highly recommended!

Nick knows his stuff and goes above and beyond! He solved our problem over the phone and didn't charge us a penny!
For months we were having an intermittent, yet persistent problem with a terrible sewer gas smell in one of our stores. We tried everything we could think of and everything that was recommended (including climbing onto the roof of the commercial building and extending one of the pipes.
After reading the rave reviews we gave Union Jack Plumbing a call. Nick called back and told me that he no longer does commercial plumbing and gave me the name and number of a commercial plumbing company, but he didn't stop there! He asked me several questions, explained the potential causes, and associated solutions. He gave me instructions on how to test some things and the solutions we could do ourselves if we found the problem and explained what the plumber would do if the problem turned out to be more than we could fix.
We followed Nick's instructions, found the problem, and implemented the SIMPLE, FREE solution. The problem is gone! Nick is awesome! He didn't have to take the time to troubleshoot our problem and explain solutions, but he did.
I HIGHLY recommend Union Jack Plumbing. That's who I'm calling next time we have a residential plumbing need.

Nick is quick and quite a pleasant Jack.  He imaginatively used PEX to do a minor job with aplomb.  I liked his style and he seemed happy to explain things.  I'd use him again.  No, he's not the cheapest, but he was thorough and left me with the comforting sense that the job was done right.

I can not recommend them.  They tried to be clever and improvise on a hose stating the one we had was hard to find as it is a Grohe.  Rather than even making one phone call, he started welding & gluing to come up with a solution.

Not only did the solution not work (but we were charged for over $365 for his visit (1 hr of that was productive, the other 2 hours wasted) .  Now we have to spend $300 to replace TWO fixtures (as there is a matching on in the bathroom) AND pay for a different plumber to do  that installation.  We will definitely NOT be using Union Jack for that installation (although he absolutely should have volunteered to do that for free as we wouldn't have to replace the fixtures at all if his hacking job hadn't actually destroyed the existing connectors.

I'm totally cool with the fact that he tried to improvise, but not at the cost of actually turning a replacement hose job into a complete fixture replacement  x 2 -- and saying oh well as he presented us with a $365 bill.

Union Jack Plumbing consists of Nick (the owner) and he is excellent.  He recently came to my house to fix a leaking shower and to look at a poorly installed kitchen faucet.  Upon completion my shower is no longer leaking and I have the best water pressure in my kitchen that I have ever had!

Nick showed up on time with a cheerful attitude.  He is a very nice and happy person.  He will talk to you while he works giving you updates on what he is doing, as well as letting you in on his wealth of expertise.  He kept me well informed of what he was doing / going to do and I felt reassured throughout the whole process.  This was very helpful after a bad experience with the plumbers who came out to fix my kitchen sink originally (who threw up their hands and said the pressure was as good as it was going to get).  Nick was not daunted and methodically went through the faucet piece by piece cleaning it all out and eventually getting it to perfect condition.

I don't know what else to say, but he is highly recommended.  He is busy due to his popularity, but he is well worth the wait!

After having god-knows how many plumbers out to my house, and trying several that received high ratings here, I eventually ended up on Nick.  (For example, while I got quite good service from DAS plumbing for two or three visits, one of David's partners left his business and, as a result, I haven't been able to get him to respond to any phone requests.  When you leave two messages over the course of the week and never get back to me, you get crossed off my list.  Sorry, David!)

I chose Nick because from the comments it seemed like he did good work, *and* he was polite, respectful, and responsive to people's complaints here on Yelp, even the more profane ones.

Nick responded to my message within a reasonable amount of time, made an appointment to come by within a reasonable amount of time, and worked with me on what needed to be done, what the price would be, how long I could expect it to take, and every other aspect of the job.  He was polite, personable, friendly, reasonable, and in short very easy to work with.  He fixed our problems tout suite, and charged what I consider a very reasonable price.

I do not hesitate to recommend Nick for any job.  The only reason I don't give him 5 stars is because after one visit, I don't feel I have enough data to give such a review.  But Nick is one of the good ones; you are very safe in hiring him.

While he wasn't interested in working with me when I wanted to pay half when he completed the work and half when I inspected the work, the work was ultimately done to my satisfaction.  In spite of my weariness, I paid him in full before I laid eyes on the work myself.  Thankfully I paid with a credit card where I could have disputed the charge if the work was not up to my expectations.

Haven't even met Nick.  However, I have to say, I have the utmost respect for the man.

I called yesterday afternoon and left a message that I needed a water heater replaced and some other work done.  He called back a few hours later and told me that he doesn't do water heater replacements anymore as he had found a company that could do it for half the price and he gave me their name and number.  Yes - he could have done it for double the price of the other company, but he had such integrity that he gave me another companies phone number.

Where do you find that these days?  To say I am impressed and will call Nick each and EVERY time I need a plumber is a complete understatement!

We CANNOT thank Nick enough for the tremendous help he was in fixing our kitchen sink. He was a Godsend.

We have (soon to be HAD) a home warranty that only had two plumbers in our area. So we called in a service request for one and waited ALL DAY. No response. So we called the warranty company, and they called the other guy. Same story. Nothing.

Desperate, we scour Yelp and find Union Jack Plumbing. The reviews sound stellar, so we give him a call on a Friday evening at 5 pm, doubting we'll hear back very soon. 7:30 pm rolls around and Nick gives us a call, a decent estimate for the job and says he'll be there at 9 in the morning on Tuesday. Wonderful!

Tuesday morning. 9 am. Nick arrives right on time and gets to work. Within minutes he tells us exactly what's wrong and knows just how to fix it. We have a working-like-new kitchen sink before the morning is over. The price was even under his estimate. He was friendly and knowledgable. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

Long story short: Fast response, great service at very reasonable price. We will definitely be using Union Jack Plumbing again.

Like many others, I found Nick on Yelp and the reviews were all right on!  I had him replace an old water heater in the house we just moved to and his prices were significantly lower than quotes from other big-name Austin plumbing companies.  He didn't cut any corners when it came to the work being done - he's just an honest plumber, which is just what we all need.  With a slogan like,  The British are plumbing!  The British are plumbing! - is there any way you can go wrong?  Will be the only person I call for all my future plumbing needs.

Nick Green was just here.  He did a wonderful job!  He went above my expectations!  He replaced my exterior hose connector, put on a handmade, customized, weather proof, winterized, low-temperature protector and fixed my guest bathroom leaky toilet.  He was in the neighborhood so he was here in just minutes, wow!  Barely had enough time to get off of the phone.  Nick is now MY plumber.

Because of yelp, I called Nick.  And along with the other yelp reviewers, I'm now a fan. It took a little over a week to schedule time with him (because he's so awesome), but it's absolutely worth the wait. He came to fix a kitchen sink leak, and completed it professionally, efficiently, and even taught me a few things. His process, from start to finish is second to none. Nick certainly took care of me.

I had 3 faucets that were having issues so after putting it off for too long I found Nick thru Yelp and had him come out.

I had to leave a message on his phone to get a hold of him but he called me back that night and got everything scheduled.   He was on time and got the job done quickly and economically.

He is a one man show so you know who are getting everytime as opposed to some larger companies that might have 10 guys.  In an emergency plumbing situation he might not be the best because of capacity though.

Had a great experience with Nick.  First of all, he returned my call the same day, unlike the 2 other plumbers I called.  He came the next day (this was not an emergency situation) and arrived at the time promised.  He confirmed my suspicions and to our delight, was able to rebuild a crucial part, saving us about half the cost of putting in a new one.  Nick is now my go-to plumber!

I hired a real plumber when we busted the toilet to pieces tightening it.  I picked Nick Green at Union Jack plumbing based on his Yelp reviews.  He returned my call very quickly, a surprise since many reviews mention how busy he is. We discussed toilets and toilet research (fascinating),  he set an appointment, and he had me email him some pictures of a non-draining basin he also agreed to look at.

Nick and his helper called ahead as agreed, arrived right on time and got right to work.  He installed the Toto Eco Drake I bought from him, and installed a slow-close seat he'd brought along as well.  In the process he taught us how to install a toilet properly, which we clearly had needed to learn.  Then he tackled the non-draining vessel lav basin.  He advised us that the problem was much simpler than the original diagnosis, and that we could probably fix it ourselves.  Before he left, Nick cleaned up and left the bathroom spotless.

Nick's advice on the drain was spot-on -- the lav drained completely when we did what he said.  Very happy there.  But the toilet.  Who knew that a new toilet could make such a difference?  The Toto toilet is unbelievable.  Of all of the new stuff in the renovated bathroom (glass tile, a cool motion-detector led light in the basin) it's the toilet that gets all the attention.  It's not a fancy toilet (no washlet, though that would be cool). It just works.  It uses a tiny amount of water but flushes better than any toilet anyone has ever used.  And the slow-close seat, which we accidentally got, is a huge improvement to life in general.  Not once since the Toto was installed has a guy left the seat up.  Seems they like to  see it slowly close.  Totos are going in every bathroom from now on.

Nick's not cheap, and he's worth every penny.  I grew up in a tradesman-free zone: everything was DIY and everyone was expected to maintain the tradition.  Not me.  I'm calling Nick.

This lived up to the Yelp reviews.  I was hoping that Nick would call me back.  He's so busy that his VM says that if he doesn't call you back by 8 p.m., then he won't be able to get to you.  I was lucky - he got to me.

I have used four different plumbers since I moved into my house a couple years ago.  Nothing against the other guys.  But Nick seemed to know a lot more than the other plumbers did. He seemed to be light years ahead of the others.   And it was nice that he had all of the equipment and products on his truck.

So this is a great guy to use as a plumber.  Just as happy with him as I am with the A/C repair guy I found on Yelp.

Thanks, Yelp!

Its Saturday and we woke up to water flooding from the kitchen celing. We called Nick, who we had used once before. He was out to our house with an hour. Identified the problem, fixed it, cleaned up afterwards and explained everything as he was going along. And to make it even better his rates are very reasonable even for coming out on a Saturday.

We would highly recommend Union Jack Plumbing if you are looking for a great quality work in Austin.

Thank you for wearing overalls! Professional, quick and fairly priced. Union Jack came to my house toe replace a sink and unclog a bathtub drain. Gave good advice and talked me through all the steps in the repair process. THANKS!

Grumpy Cat could totally learn a thing or two from this guy. I am always impressed with people who are in such a good mood so early in the morning. He has always arrived on time and worked fast and efficiently. This last time he came out he not only gave me a Union Jack flashlight/pen (which is quite awesome) but also fixed a bolt on our toilet seat that I didn't even ask him to do. He is great and definitely our go to guy for all our plumbing woes.

Nick is just as good as it gets as far as service is concerned. He is propmpt, up front about the procedure and cost. If he can't fix it he will refer you to someone who can. Note that you do have to leave a brief message on his cell to schedule an appointment, he typically calls back within the hour. I've used him twice, once for a leak, once for a new garbage disposal. I recommend him to ANYONE in need of a plumber.

Found Union Jack Plumbing through Yelp and I couldn't agree more with the positive reviews.

Nick fixed our issue that another plumber said he couldn't fix.  The price was fair, he was clean and friendly and timely.  Not sure what more you could ask for.

Nick is indeed awesome.  Believe everything everyone is saying about him - he is a pleasure to work with.  We wanted to get a tankless water heater, but Nick talked us out of it - telling us that we'd have to get it cleaned every year for build-up, nullifying any savings we would have hoped for.  Having experienced the hard water build up already, we knew his advice was spot on.  We let Nick pick out our water heater.  This month's gas bill? $19!

Nick was on-time and professional, called prior to the appointment time to let me know he was on his way over.  Fixed two leaky showers in under an hour, kept the work area tidy and left the area clean on his way out.  Union Jack will be my go-to plumber in Austin from here on out.

Had to chime in on all the stellar reviews. Nick's exactly as promised...as the English say, he's brilliant. I'm a marketing guy, so was equally impressed by his tagline, The British are Plumbing, The British are Plumbing! as I was by the quality of his work. He found things that needed to be fixed, which I think is the trademark of a great service provider. Very fair pricing, would not go back to my old plumber.

Called Nick last Wednesday morning.  I left him a message regarding a PVR valve that needed to be replaced.  He contacted me later on in the afternoon the same day.  He provided me with a quote and we set a date for him to come out.  On the day that Nick was to arrive he called to let me know he was en route.  Nick arrived and quickly went to work, he is very detail oriented and does an excellent job.  He is incredibly thorough, after completing the work he tested the house and adjusted the pressure for us.  To install the PRV valve a small area in the yard had to be dug up, when he finished the job he took great care in making sure that the area looked like it did before he started digging.  When the job was complete Nick handed me the invoice that was exactly as quoted over the phone.  I would highly recommend Union Jack Plumbing.

More of the same here.  Nick was professional, informative, and honest.  His voicemail clearly warns you that he is heavily booked and that you might get a delay before you hear back, but I got a call back right away and he was able to squeeze me in before his first scheduled appointment.

I had a leak in the water line coming into our house, and he correctly figured out where the problem would be without digging up half the yard.  He showed me where someone else had fixed it before and why the shifting pipes caused the problems.  He installed a PEX replacement line and got us hooked back up and off to work.

I know I probably won't be lucky enough to get same day service next time, but I can assure you that I'll definitely be willing to wait to get Nick to work on my next job.

I agree with all of the other 5-star reviews here. Nick returned my call immediately. He was able to diagnose the problem with my shower over the phone. He set up an appointment that worked with my schedule. He showed up right when he said he would. He fixed the problem quickly and explained what he was doing and why it was broken. And he charged me a very reasonable amount for the repair. These seem like such simple things, but added together they are unfortunately rare when dealing with in-home repairs.

Nick is great.  Like you read, he does take a day or so to get back to you, but he's worth it.  He came and fixed an exterior leak on my main water line into my home and in record time.  He actually repaired an old repair done by another plumbing company and charged me about half of what they did.  Glad I found him, and definitely will be recommended to all of my friends and clients.

Nick came out and did a really good job on replacing our outside faucet.  It took awhile to get here (I think he's getting too much business from all the great Yelp reviews, which is keeping him super busy!) but when he got here, he came, got the outside faucet replaced, took a look at one of our indoor toilet.  There wasn't much he could do on the indoor toilet (was actually an install problem from the person who installed it and would require a new toilet) but he did show us a way to get around an issue we had w/that toilet.  It took awhile to get a hold of him but it was worth the wait.

They don't make 'em like Nick anymore. I had a low-pressure issue in my master bedroom shower. Nick asked lots of questions on the phone, so that by the time he came to the house, he already had a very logical game plan. He explained exactly what he thought the problem was, what he was going to do to fix it, and plans B and C in case his first plan didn't work. 20 minutes later, problem solved. Had the best shower in a long time this morning. :) Nick is the man!

We have used Nick at Union Jack Plumbing for a number of household jobs over the years.  Most recently, he installed our fireplace gas log set and we are delighted with the results.  He takes pride in his craft and does a fantastic job at a fair price.  In addition to being very good at his trade he is friendly, punctual and has excellent communication which really matters when you have plumbing emergencies.  We wouldn't think of using anyone other than Union Jack Plumbing and highly recommend him.

Excellent service!  Nick is an awesome guy and did great work at my house for a very fair price!  I had like 4 different things I needed fixed and he fixed them all and even gave me tips and advice on how to fix it myself in the future.  Great personality and fun to bs with.  On top of that he went out of his way and came back to my house a few hours later to deliver me a part I needed for my bathroom.  I didnt even ask him to do that. I was just going to order one but he went out of his way.  Overall, I would highly recommend Nick for any plumbing needs you might have.  Very professional and very personable.  Highly recommend

Top notch work.  I called him about a problem with a toilet in the bathroom in the addition.  First, he got some details right over the phone so he could be prepared when he got here.  Once he was here, we found out that the problem wasn't just the toilet, it was a severe root problem in the drain pipe (he pulled out a root as long as my arm, it was crazy!).  Not only did he step up once we realized this was way more than just a toilet install, he cleared out a massive amount of roots, installed a new clean-out to make this problem easier to deal with in the future, and, oh yeah, he installed that toilet too :D

The only problem?  When my girlfriend got home, she liked the new toilet so much that she wants him to come out and replace the main one as well!  A quality job by a great guy.  I would recommend him in a second to anyone needing a plumber.  He did a great job of keeping me informed every step of the way, and his eye for detail was greatly appreciated.

It's probably a loss to humanity that Nick isn't a doctor or scientist. But it's your gain if you're an Austinite in need of plumbing repair.

Trust yelp on this one: the guy really is the best plumber (or tradesman for that matter) that I've ever known. Just a few days ago, Nick replaced our leaky bathtub faucet and put in a new main valve for the house. In a little more than a couple hours. At _half_ the cost of the nearest estimate. Artful craftsmanship, very tidy, and a great conversation to boot.

Seriously, trust these reviews -- you will not be disappointed. He's a tradesman who truly cares about his trade AND his customers, and well, he's just plain awesome.

Excellent service. I left a non-emergency message on Friday afternoon and had a call and visit Monday morning. We needed shower knobs and switch replaced. Nice guy with an interesting life story.

Nick continues to impress me with his workmanship, his diligence and just the ease with which you can trust him.
I leave the door open for him or leave a key out when I won't be there at his scheduled arrival time (this is absolutely NOT something i would do for any other person coming to my house .. in fact I have friends I wouldn't trust with my key!!).
Good to have someone left in the trade with ethics and diligence and most importantly who puts the customer first.

Thanks for nothing Yelp because now everyone knows about the best kept plumbing secret in Austin.

The first time I talked to Nick was in the produce section at the HEB in Oak Hill were he was sweet enough to answer some general plumbing problem questions. It only got better when he came to my house and did some of the most beautiful plumbing work I have ever seen...that could be taken wrong. He fixed my pipes inside and out...hmm that can be taken wrong too. Anyway, he is the only plumber I will call and have waited for, so far, 2 weeks, with the water at the sinks turned off, for him to be able to come and take a look at a couple leaks.

Why wait so long where there is a whole town of other plumbers, including one in my own neighborhood? Because he is honest, can be trusted and is well worth the wait.

I joined this site to simply write a review about Nick and Union Jack Plumbing!
I have called Nick on two occasions now and he has not failed to impress me. Even when he is down off of slaughter rd somewhere he still manages to make it (through rush hour traffic) to cedar park to give me a hand.
He showed me the mistakes made by the previous owner / 'handyman' and fixed me right up.
The second time I called him up to fix a very leaky faucet outside. After he was done he told me I must have another leak somewhere because he could see the meter moving slightly. We walked around and found another faucet with a small leak. I know he was on a tight schedule but he still took the time to do an unscheduled install (and then reinstall - due to faulty faucet).
Couldn't be happier with the service and conversation.

Nick saved me over $200 with his expert help. My water heater decided to give us a bad week on the coldest week ever. I called him on Sunday out of desperation and on Monday he gave me the best instructions to solve the problem by myself- he explained how it could be that I did not need his service this time around. It was more like a friend helping a friend. I would give him 6 stars if I could. I will surely call him if I need a repair friend at home. Nick, you rock!

Outstanding work, great prices, and wonderful conversation.

We've had our house for over twenty years and this was the first time that we've had any plumbing work. Had several plumbing concerns and one kitchen faucet with bad shutoff valves that we wanted replaced. Did an excellent job on the faucet and replacement of the shutoff valves. Also found a problem with line to dishwasher and replaced it as well. Replaced hose to ice maker because it was showing signs of stress.  On the other questions, gave us good advice on much less expensive alternative in one case and gave us good advice and better longer term solution in another case. All of that for less than I expected.

We are extremely pleased.

Nick is absolutely awesome!  My wife and I recently bought a house with possibly the worst toilets ever, low water pressure to the house, and a shower in the master bathroom that had the flow rate of my dogs dribbling water.  Nick first made recommendations on replacement toilets, and he replaced all of them as promised and on budget.  AWESOME WORK!!!

Nick then replaced the pressure reducing valve to the house, and now we great water pressure in the house.  He then spent the time to remove the scale in the piping to the master shower, and now we enjoy a vigorous shower.

I would have no problem recommending Nick to anyone who has plumbing problems!!!

Nick helped during an extremely busy time in his schedule.  He made sure all my guests coming over for the holidays wouldn't have an issue with the toilet that my youngest stuck something large and unflushable down in.

Over the phone before his housecall he gave me Plans A and B.  Plan A was the cheaper quicker option.  I went to Home Depot beforehand to get the new Plan B toilet just in case.  Nick showed up and took care of everything according to Plan A.  He did the job for a very reasonable price and identified our toilet as not being the one that had a manufacturing flaw.

Nick is punctual, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional.  He explains everything upfront; you'll find no surprises in your final cost.  I've tried other plumbers in Austin only to be terribly disappointed.  Union Jack Plumbing is a class act that stands above the rest.

Nick Green is a Joy to do business with, from playing phone tag to set up an appointment until the time he arrives and completes the plumbing work, he is courteous, thorough, prompt, proactive, and he explains plumbing needs in easy-to-understand terms.  He provides a useful service with his customers needs in mind. Very refreshing.

I thought I'd get an estimate over the phone and 2 hours later I have all my problems solved! No appointment, no waiting, no fuss. I like Nick! I had a toilet that I broke when I tried to fix it and a bathroom stopper in the sink that didn't function that had been broken for a year or more. Called Nick, got an almost immediate call back, he was here an hour later and gone with an hour. About $130 base fee for the hour. I don't know if that is good or bad, I just know I liked him and liked his speed and courtesy.

Austin is my home.  I went to both HS and college in Austin, TX, and ever since college I have owned a condo.  I rent out the condo these days, as I live most of the year in Atlanta, GA (with one month in California).  The renters create plumbing problems for me about once or twice a year and Nick is the man.  I wish there was a Nick in Atlanta too.

Highly recommended.

Going to make this short and sweet. Nick is downright awesome!  My wife and I had our first plumbing issue since buying our first house and were very nervous about calling a random plumber. Yelp did us right once again by pointing us Nick's way.

We had an issue with a double vanity sink clogging up on both sides. Not only did he fix the clog issue and educate us through the process, but he also noticed our pressure was low and did some adjustments to fix it. So he left our sinks better than when we originally moved in.

We are customers for life!  Thanks again, Nick.

I often use Yelp for ideas about who to call or where to go.  I'm only now joining to post review a review because my experience was just that good.

I called Nick on a Friday about a low pressure situation at my house.  He asked a few questions, diagnosed the problem and quoted me a price within a minute or so...all over the phone.  He was out to my house on Monday and fixed the issue within the time estimate.  I was very happy with the care he took to fix my problem and improve the access points for future work.  The water pressure has gone from a trickle to drilling holes in your skin.  I had him do some additional work inside, on clogged faucets/drains, and he was just as thorough and effective there as well.  I've used a lot of service technicians and rarely do you find someone as friendly, thorough, prompt and honest as Nick.  Now if I could find his equivalent in an electrician and AC technician I would be all set!

I highly recommend Nick for any plumbing needs.  We needed a kitchen faucet replaced and a bathroom faucet repaired.  He spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with me, helping me to determine what went wrong, what type of faucet to look for and how to maintain it.  He asked for a pic of the bathroom faucet ahead of time, so he could come as prepared as possible to do the repair.  This kept him from having to leave the job on the clock to purchase necessary materials.  He is extremely knowledgeable and efficient.  I plan on calling him again for any plumbing needs that arise.

I am not sure where these other reviewers are coming from but I called Union Jack Plumbing based on the reviews.  Bottom line, get a firm price quote in writing before you agree to have him do the work.   Nick quoted me $300-500 worst case to replace my tub/shower valve but he told me that since my wall was already opened up, it should be less.  I purchased the valve and the job was straightforward.  The work was done in an open attic where the back of the wall was exposed.  Later that day, I received a bill for $750 after the work was completed!  No warning, no excuses, just a bill for double what he quoted.   I was in a hurry so I just paid him but called him back within an hour to rant and rave my disgust.  I told him that we would either need to come to some agreement over the price or I would call my cc company to dispute the charge.  He seemed surprised, said that he would refund what I thought was fair and said he doesn't want to do business with me again.   I agreed to pay him what his top quote was, which was $500.  He promptly sent me a check the next day, with a very nice apology note, which made me feel better about him but still.  He did a nice job but you can't do business by quoting a job and then not sticking by it.

Nick repaired a leak in our main waterline where it ties into our sprinkler system. Based on the evidence, an earlier unsuccessful attempt had been made to repair the broken PVC. Nick replaced the bad section of PVC with PEX, a more flexible pipe to ensure there would be no repeat of this messy leak. Nick was very professional, explaining the details of the repair before filling in the hole. He did a nice job keeping the job site clean during a very messy task. Overall great experience. Very friendly, yet very professional and serious about pleasing his customers.

Nick just saved me several thousand dollars and returned my peace of mind back to me just in time for the holidays.  I will be recommending this guy for the rest of my life.

Briefly, here's what happened:

My washing machine drain line backed up.  What I thought was a reputable large plumbing company ran a snake and couldn't get the line to open.  Then they ran a camera to pinpoint the exact location of a running trap and proceeded to tell me the only way to fix the problem would be to tunnel under the house and replace the trap.  The written estimate they submitted for doing so:  over $12,000!!  In shock, I called Nick for a second opinion.  He very efficiently and graciously asked me about 5 or 6 questions and announced confidently he thought he could help me out.  Not only that, he could be at my home in about 30 minutes.  He was exactly on time, and went right to work.  But he too ran into a dead-end with the snake.  Not to worry!  He went to his truck and came back with a simple balloon-jet device and forced some hot water throught the line under pressure and Voila! The line opened and my washing machine is back in business.

On top of his Zen-like plumbing talents, this guy is hilarious and a brilliant conversationalist.  Nick is just one of the special people you only get the privilege to meet occasionally in life.

If you having any kind of plumbing issue, don't hesitate to call him right away.

I called on Nick based on the YELP reviews.  There were other plumbers who could come right away, and I had to wait a week before Nick was available.  Yes, he was well worth it.   Made me think that all the plumbers I've hired in the past 30 years really didn't have a clue.  For sure not the kind of knowledge, professionalism & work ethic that Nick has.  He's pretty swamped because of all the good reviews, but again, he is worth the wait.

Nick was great, he answered my first call and gave me a price range for the job right then. He called about an hour before the appointment to say he was on the way. He arrived and was very cordial. They came in and worked like a well oiled machine, with a rolling tool cart and large drape to protect my floor. He instantly reaccessed the issue and fixed it. He even showed me what and how he was doing everything, and pointed out the error in the original installation. His assistant was like a well trained surgical nurse handing him the proper tool before he even asked for it. They were finished in about 30 minutes. He fixed clogged tub drain, adjusted flow to showerhead, fixed leak in showerhead and  adjusted the hot water heater. When finished they cleaned up the work area and rolled out the tools. I was stunned by how fast he got the job done! To my surprise the charges were less than estimate as while there were several issues all were an easy fix for a master plumber. I will absolutely call him again and send friends and clients his way. Nick is the epitome of a professional craftsman. You can call him and have confidence the job will be done right!

We had quite a list of items to be addressed before they erupted into bigger issues, and Nick and his assistant managed to knock everything out within five hours & operated with quite a sense of urgency. He paid much attention to detail, even tidying each space after completing a task. Considering the amount of time required, and the parts needed, the total invoice was extremely fair. Professionals with this level of integrity & skill are few and far between. I would have been remiss not to take the time to recommend his services after having had such a positive experience.

Totally exceeded our expectations! Nick was perfectly professional and an absolute joy to work with. He had no trouble with the relatively small jobs we had around the house. An excellent plumber, great communicator - punctual, courteous, honest. We're delighted to recommend Union Jack Plumbing!

Everyone is right.  I won't repeat everything of the other reviews but I will say that he was super thorough.  He had to work in an uncomfortable position due to a poor rehab and he was positive the whole time saying not to worry.  He saw that they'd configured out plumbing in a ridiculous way that would keep causing us problems and he decided to take the time to fix it.  I was really really happy with his work.  Very high quality work and very honest.

I talked to Nick and he spent a lot of time with me trying to diagnnose my problem over the phone.  He came out, very helpful and cheery.  Fixed the problem for me.

Union Jack Plumbing provides excellent service at a reasonable rate.  I needed a new sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher installed.  Nick responded to my phone call quickly and was here the next day.  He is very personable and professional.  The finished job is beautiful to behold and everything works perfectly.  Call without hesitation.  You won't be disappointed.

The phone call back from this company was all it took for me to stay away from it.  I was looking to convert my hot water heater from gas to electric.  All I got from this gentleman Nick was sarcasm, and the fact that this job was too complicated for him to do.  I went with Strand Brothers, who priced everything reasonably ( their fee was even less than the quote..!), and they were out of my house in less than 3 hours.  BOO UNION JACK PLUMBING - GO BACK TO ENGLAND!!!!

Finding a good contractor of any kind can be difficult.  With Nick we found a great one.  He may not do every plumbing job that comes his way and he's too busy to be prompt on calling people back (2 days), but when he comes out to do a job he'll give you an accurate estimate of cost BEFORE coming out and keep you in the loop on what he sees as he works.  He won't be the only plumber I'll use but he will be the first I'll call for any non-emergency work and so far is the only plumber I've encountered that I would recommend.  The British are plumbing!  The British are plumbing!

Nick exceeded my high expectations.  I chose him because of the positive Yelp reviews and wasn't disappointed.  He came out the same day and fixed my problem without trying to up-sell me or perform any unnecessary work.  He educated me throughout every step of the job and he also gave me some advice on a separate project I was working on.  I am definitely calling him again when I need work done.

I called Nick about a noise that our hot water heater was making. He called me back the same day, left a detailed message about the types of sounds typically made by water heaters and whether or not those sounds indicated replacement or repair. It turns out that our water heater was making normal sounds due to mineral buildup (common here in Austin). He explained that we could do a few things to help soften the sound, but that replacement was not necessary. I appreciate his prompt and thorough help.

Nick did a great job. No issues at all. The service was very good, Nick is knowledgeable and good at what he does and he was priced like most of the plumbers out there. I'd say for as competent as he is we probably got a better bang for the buck than most plumbers we've used.

I thought something was fishy when I saw so many 5 star reviews, but I put my faith in yelp.  My water pressure was too high (80-100psi) so I called around and got 3 different bids to install a pressure reducing valve.  I didn't need anything done right away so I had the time to compare.  Nick's bid was just a little under the other guys, but he took the time to explain what he does, and the parts that he would be using.  Being a new homeowner, I want to know as much as possible about what might have been done in the past or future problems that might arise.  He is definately a people person and wants to make sure you are happy.  He said he wishes someone would leave a bad review for him so everyone would know that he isn't leaving his own reviews, but I don't see that happening anytime soon with the way he works.  Those in Austin looking to install a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) where one wasn't present should know that there is a $100 rebate through the City of Austin, take a look at their website.
