Mark arrived a few minutes early and after a quick chat got right to work. He kept us apprised of his findings as he ruled out possible problems. The problem was with a duel capacitor located in the outside unit. He demonstrated with an electrical device that our part was not working and promptly replaced the capacitor with one from his van. Service and parts were within range according to on-line sources; although the charge was closer to the high end. We now have cold air that was made possible by a prompt professional.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
So I foolishly asked for the $69 Tune Up. I wasn't home but my wife was to be home so they can do said tune up. Well they did the typical salesman tactic and scared my wife to thinking our AC could break any time and we needed to replace the capacitor, for a mere $282! Well the part is approximately $50 and anyone can replace it, but I was not provided that opportunity as they took advantage of my wife. Then want to say I need a safety switch on the condensate lines? Wth? It has its primary and secondary lines which work just fine because I have made sure do to previous experience with clogged lines. Then when I call to talk to a manager/supervisor, the lady who answers the phones just says she'll pass it on, but really won't or at least NO ONE will call back to make it right. Please use the small guys who you can trust and not these big companies that want to steal your money and do dishonest work.

We have been trying to reach Mr. Hobson for several months and Jennifer in his office has conveniently iindicated he was not available and would call back.  A family member had their air conditioner go out in the heat of the summer (which was only 6 years old and still under warranty by Hobson) and they came out and put in a new compressor in the amount of over $8,000.  It absolutely should have been covered and the customer should be reimbursed.  I was very surprised that with this being a family owned business they would allow this to happen to another family and not even have the common courtesy to return a call.  I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate it happening to one of their family members.  There have been no less than 8 calls make to his office as well as a RRR letter sent to his office - so we know he is aware of the situation.  They need to make this right.  Unfortunately, I think that because it was a woman the technician was speaking with - that technician took total advantage of her lack of knowledge regarding an air conditioner, which how many people are well versed on air conditioners.  That money was put aside for her daughter who was starting college and they stole that from her in my opinion.  I truly hope someone in their company is monitoring these comments and asks for Mr. Hobson to return the call.

Mark was out within two hours of calling Comfort Experts to ask for an appointment. I ran down what items I had already ruled out and he quickly diagnosed my transformer was out and replaced the part he had on hand for the job. Honest price and service and I won't hesitate to call them again.

Had a tech come out to find out why my a/c was not blowing cold air. Story short cost to do service call was $45 which was reasonable. After about a good hour of checking system, he found the problem in the compressor hard start. It was bad. To replace it, the cost was the retail price of $340 or so with service. His first quote was $114.00 to check.  My unit is 13 years old and still runs good for a Trane. The temporary fix was $345 but the trane part had to ordered from manufacturer for $550 something since they didn't carry it. The part is around $10.00. So do they make their money this way? No warranty but 3 plans to choose from.
Very slick, not sure if they could have more honest.

Same company as Comfort Experts. Not the same after their dad gave business to kids. Settled with me out of court after TDLR was about to revoke their licenses -- charged for inferior non-UL parts under manufacture warranty and for parts not installed & for labor not performed.  Technicians are not paid for visits and must invent problems to be paid a commission.

We had a unit that was working well but were informed that after the first of the year,  we would no longer be able to get the unit serviced due to Freon no longer being available for private units,  only commercial units.
Did some research,  found out that was true and decided to purchase a new unit - mid August.
BIG MISTAKE!  HUGE!!!
We were told that there was a No Frustration guarantee. We thought,  'no problem,  we've had service with this company for over 10 years. '

Within two weeks,  the unit started failing.  We had to call b/c the unit stopped cooling on a Friday night.  To their credit,  they came out that night.

The first cold snap in October,  the unit would not heat.  They came out again.  It started heating but within 30 minutes of their leaving,  it shut down again.  Someone else had to come out the next evening.  Needless to say,  we're frustrated.  We had not had the unit 8 weeks yet and already,  three service calls.  We were told that the thermostat they installed wasn't that good for the heat pump.  They offered to replace it if they had to visit again. Oh,  and btw, before you find it,  we'll go ahead and schedule someone to remove the trash in your attic before you find it b/c we know you'll be mad again when you find it. Yes,  they left trash in our attic when they installed the new unit. That's the times someone had to come out three times in one week.

I brought up the no frustration guarantee.  I was informed that my frustrations did not rise to the proper level of no frustration b/c we had not been without the use if the unit for more than 24 hrs.
So,  I haven't had the unit 8 weeks and I've had to make 3 servings calls and your guys left trash in my attic,  but none if that meets the no frustration guarantee.  But we can offer two years of no payment if the monthly membership fee.  I asked for that in writing.

A few more mild weeks go by and we don't really have to use the unit for a few weeks.  Mid December,  the outside unit causes the breaker to flip thereby causing the fan in the inside unit to run all night - and it's blowing cold air.

So again,  we have a service call.  Oh,  and btw, we're we're charged two more monthly fees and I don't have that promise of no fees in writing.  Could you take care of that?  We'll contact accounting and send you your letter,  so sorry!

The thermostat is replaced as is the breaker in the breaker panel inside the house.

First week of January,  the unit is blowing cold air for over an hour. I have to go flip the new breaker,  that isn't popped,  to reset the unit and get some warm air so the fan will stop.
I still don't have my letter promising a two year period with no monthly membership fee.

I would rate this company a zero but one in the lowest they allow a person to go.

Company also does business as Comfort Experts and AC Genius.

Don't get caught in the $49 air-conditioning tuneup special, either. It is probable that you'll spend a lot more than $49 for the visit from the technician I had.

I paid a monthly service fee to be prioritized for service and for discounted service. When I needed them, they couldn't get to me for days and want to charge me $80 just for coming out. I called Douglass Air and they came out same day, did the repair, and charged me $80. What the hell am I paying a month fee for? Last time their repairman came out, he was rude and didn't really appear like he knew what he was doing. When I tried to cancel my agreement, they came me grief about it. Would NEVER recommend them to anyone!

3 year history with this company: 1. Company came by and did diagnostic on very old ac unit. Recommended completely new unit and I agreed bc it was 16 years old. Company sent crew in to do work and though supervisor was very harsh and demanding (I'm military and didn't mind but relevant) did a good job. Within the first year on a NEW unit we needed repairs. They honored the 1 (weak) year warranty and fixed it. This unit still has problems and every time they came out it was 75/200 in parts and labor. ON A NEW UNIT. The last time they came out they tried selling me a capacitor that WASNT BAD bc i got a second opinion. It's worked just fine since (several months now, maybe 3/4).

2. I have a 10 year old unit to which they came out and did repairs but the problems continue to persist. Long story short they recommended a complete removal and change to a new unit for this one as well. I called the people with Company that gave me the second opinion on the new unit and they fixed the 10-year-old unit for $215 and it's worked just fine ever since.

* bottom line...Nice folks that make money on selling parts but I wouldn't recommend to anyone that isn't wealthy. Lastly, I paid for their $15 remote service which is a good deal if they weren't trying to sell you parked every time they came out and I tried to stop the service and they said they have 30 days to stop the service so not only will you get charged but will get charged for the next 30 days as well. That's a rip off and I'm disputing it on my credit card.

We are running away from Hobson Air/Comfort Experts... Called them last week to let them know my unit quit working so they say that'll be $69 when I say doesn't it have a tuneup on it she says yes it does, tech comes out says capacitor is our charges us 300 for $65 part. Tech then says that's not all seems you have other issues an he can fix it for $900 + an no he couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't go out in a couple of months that it would be a bandaid fix an we could look at replacing this unit @ $6000+. Husband said no do not pay them the $900, we will get another opinion . Still don't have ac after one week an we are both seeing red after all the money (29 a month for 2 yrs) we've paid them only to go thru bs when temps are in the 90s. We are done!

My wife called this company out, Knew before ever talking to the guy that a new unit was going to be pushed. Didn't argue because I figured if I buy a new one wouldn't have to worry for a while.
Guy sold me A 13k dollar  unit. said it might take a couple days might not. Wife asked if they would give us emergency ac, guy said yes if we cant install tomorrow we will bring you an ac.
We bought the gold service package. Get up one morning heat pump is clicking and not working, call them and am told will be the next day. I figure out it is the flood switch, dry it off and get my ac working again, they come out cant find a leak, and leave (The Tech I feel was really trying to find the problem) week later does it again. this time I see water leaking down the pipe, again gonna be another day. I dry out sensor and get ac working again, happens again see water is leaking from seam at coil unit, again another call another day. I get angry because I cant get my unit to start back, explain to the lady on the phone, want to know if she can have a tech call me so we are not sleeping in the heat, She tells me NO we don't do that. Now I am very angry, express that. They do get a tech out that night and he says we have never seen one do that, coils are probably bad, we are going to order new coils and if that doesn't fix it we will have a supervisor come talk to you Now my ac is freezing up my wife has to thaw it out every couple hours, she calls back only to be told You know its summer, it might take a week or so to get parts I am very aware it is summer because my house is not cool like it should be. Thing that gets me, is on my invoice for my gold service it says 24/7 when wife ask about that, she is told that just means we will answer the phone 24/7 and put you in line. These people have no clue what customer service is, when I asked to talk to a supervisor the lady on the phone tried to talk over me, I am your customer paying you a lot of money, and I want you to listen to my complaint. Unreal. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from this place. You know worst part is I knew the guys was BS'ing me about my old unit just didn't feel like messing with it anymore, and I wish I had researched this company better and read the reviews. I will not make that mistake again. I feel like with a brand new unit I should not have to be fighting, and while I know they are not manf of the unit, if they are not going to stand behind what they sell, then why are they selling it. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I just had to invest in a new unit and everything Riley H. promised with installing it all in one day, making my home cooler again was spot on.  The installers were all courteous and did a good job as they worked in 100 degree heat.  Thank you Hobson Heating and Air for your prompt service.

They are running a special for a tuneup on the air conditioning system. I called Hobson air-conditioning to take advantage of the special.

Their communication was very good. The technician was on time. They are conscious of the carpet to keep it clean. He was informative as to options for my old air conditioning system.

I learned quite a bit about variation in systems and what I might do in the near future.

Informative, punctual, good value. Recommended.

We've used Hobson/Comfort Experts for several years too.  We had to replace a poorly installed unit that rusted out in 5 years that a competitor installed.  The new unit and subsequent service agreement have been wonderful.
We always get quick service and the ladies have always gotten appointments for us when we call.  No long waits to date and the technicians are always helpful and polite.  They always suggest potential issues to address but are not pushy about replacing parts that are not bad.
They have been refreshing to deal with. We hope to use them in our new home.  Highly recommend this company for your heating and air conditioning needs.

BEWARE! This company came out to repair our AC after it stopped working. Told us the compressor was completely shot, and we needed $7-8k in repairs or a new unit. After the worker left, we noticed that he left our freon caps only halfway screwed back on and they were rapidly dripping freon. This seemed shady, so we called another company for a second opinion. They said the compressor was NOT broken and had the whole unit up and running perfectly within 2 hours for $500. Hobson tried to rip us off for thousands of dollars, lied about the diagnosis and left our freon dripping. Shame on you!

RUN, RUN away from this company. Hobson Air also doing business as Comfort Experts. They installed a different full heat pump system than what the contact stipulated and refuse to replace or discount the unit they did install! So in place of a name brand good quality unit, we have a builders grade unit that has the worst reviews. Even the installer admitted he knew he was installing the incorrect unit! They come out for a meeting to make things right and admited they should have contaced me for approval of the different unit before installing the incorrect unit. Upon demanding they install the correct unit they (Service Mgr, Parts Mgr, and Salesmen) storm out of the house because I won't sign a new contract that night without them agreeing to fix the issue.

I used to use Hobson for service and repairs to my home HVAC unit, and for what it's worth the service techs always did a good job, and were very courteous.

Unfortunately, after the last repair they did, I called a friend that runs an a/c business in another state and found out that the replacement parts I had just paid for were marked up a ridiculous amount. The pre-printed repair forms have pre-set prices for certain parts so the technician can just circle what is replaced and add it up, but I was charged close to $100 for a capacitor that I later found out only costs about $9 at a parts dealer across town. I ended up paying about $250 total for parts that cost about $35. Luckily I didn't have to pay the fees for the service call because I was a member of their service club, but the club charged me $16 a month. Altogether, I ended up paying Hobson about $450 in a 1 year period, and my total benefit from it all was $35 in parts, and an hour of labor.

Still wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt, I asked them to quote a new unit for my house. A salesman came out, did an analysis of the house and asked me a lot of questions about what I was looking for in terms of energy efficiency, price, financing, etc. I filled out a credit app so he could check on financing for me, and then I never heard from him again. The old unit was still working, so I forgot about replacing it. I did cancel my service membership, but a year later I was still getting at least 1 phone call a month from them trying to sell me something.

A year later, the unit broke down again (I repaired it myself this time) and I decided to finally replace it. I had Hobson and another company come out and prepare quotes, and Hobson quoted me a smaller unit (2.5 ton vs. 3 ton) from a brand with a lower quality reputation, and with a lower energy-efficiency rating, for almost 50% more, $8,500 vs. $5,600. They offered me financing again, but the financing terms had something like a 16% APR, wouldn't cover the full price of the system so I would have to pay tthe $2500 difference, and also required me to pay the first and last payment up-front. I went with the other company, and couldn't be happier.

Hobson seems to have some good, knowledgeable techs working for them, but their pricing is outrageous.

Brian S came to our house to do a general AC inspection and tune up.  He did do those things but he also repaired a joint that was leaking by application of a sealant--stating that it would not leak for at least 50 years!  Was very pleased with the professionalism and level of service provided.

I was also deceived by Hobson's, I was told that 2 lbs of freon was included with the 59.00 service call and was advised after complettion I had to have a flyer. The solicitor from their company explained the offer and did not mention a flyer or coupon was needed and why offer it over the phone if coupon was needed. After making several calls to determine if the offer would be honored I was told no flyer no freon and would have to pay over 300.00 to recharge my ac. I would not recommend this company and it apears no one else will either.

I was deceived by Hobson for the last time a few months ago, when I discovered they had actually removed refrigerant from my system on purpose in order to make me believe I had a leak!!!  I had been using them for several years, paying them monthly for a platinum membership.  Over the course of my membership, they put sub-optimal parts made in China into my system which consistently failed.  Eventually they told me they weren't going to warranty their own work, claiming my system was at the brink of failure.  However, the system itself wasn't the failure, it was Hobson.  Second and third opinions revealed the truth about Hobson, and the fact that my unit has many years of life left.  I didn't bother to file a complaint with the BBB because they have plenty of those already.  I guess it was my mistake for not checking that out beforehand.  Stay clear of Hobson.

The office personnel and technician (Trice) are polite, efficient, and--most importantly--competent and responsive. One of our AC units stopped working on Sunday evening, and the folks at Comfort Experts worked us into their busy schedule. Trice got the unit up and running again--thankfully--in record time and explained some options for us to consider for the future.

I too have been deceived by Hobson AC and do not trust them either. I have a membership that I have tried to get cancelled by calling and speaking to them twice. I have been a customer of theirs for a few years paying monthly for a year membership. This last episode revealed that the entire time that they had been coming and repairing and servicing my now 6 year Trane unit that has been under manufacturers warranty the entire time.....Even when I brought it to their attention they called and said that the warranty had expired and my charges would be for parts and labor. My unit is in fact still under warranty it has a 10 year warranty. When I called cancel they went on to tell me that any discounts I had received I could get billed for.....on something I should not have been charged for from the beginning.

They are thieves that pry on people that trust them. I've cancelled membership because they don't do nothing but try to sell you don't need and over charge for everything. They are still billing us almost a year after I cancelled membership and stopped auto pay.  DONT GO THERE.
