Fixer is a public benefit corporation and certified B-Corp, founded by some of the same people who founded GrubHub. We are all homeowners, DIYers, parents, and professionals like you. Our team consists of 50+ (and growing) men and women dedicated to making the home repair and maintenance experience simple and pleasant, while also providing real, sustainable career opportunities for men and women in the communities we serve. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Chicago, IL, Fixer is now servicing Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Seattle. We are growing fast with more cities to come!
ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
Fixer is not Mike's first foray into entrepreneurship: after he graduated from MIT with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, a quest to order pizza online led him to cofound the food delivery service GrubHub, which he led from 2002 to 2014. As GrubHub grew--and with it, the gig economy it helped create--Mike realized that even when pursued full time, gig-based jobs are kind of a dead end for those seeking long-term career growth. The gig economy is a bit of my Frankenstein's monster and Fixer is an answer to that--it's a very intentional, W-2 employee, career-oriented model. Mike details his professional evolution in a memoir, Hangry, to be published in 2023.

Had a couple small issues around the house. The fixers were able to improve things, but I just didn't feel like the final product was very professional. Maybe I expect too much.
I had a leaky faucet in the bathtub. I called a plumber who came out and wanted over $500 to repair it. Fixer replied to my request for quotes on Yelp so I hired them. I cannot be more pleased with the job they did. The faucet is working as it should and at less than half the price the plumber wanted. I will be using Fixer again!
The Fixer showed up without the necessary tools to hang the door, even though the job notes clearly explained the task. He hacked up the door to add the hinges, beat up the molding around the door and left because he needed a different drill. That was three hours ago. The company provides no option to talk with someone - only text, email and voicemail to which they are not responding. Based upon this one experience, DO NOT use this company.

Tech arrived on time.
Repaired my broken bed frame.
Did not do a very good job as my bed broke again 2 days later.
2 supporting legs just slid out from underneath the frame when I rolled over.
...and I am only 120 lbs...this is a queen size bed. Should not happen.
Service should have taken 1 hour. The tech didn't have everything he needed so he went to home depot...and they charged me for the 40 mins he was at the store.
Now they won't stop calling and harassing me because I refuse to pay more than the original amount agreed upon.
Do not work with this company.
So many better options.

Our dishwasher was crammed into the cabinet space and unable to be removed. Ken came and helped me and we had the job done in under 10 minutes. Excellent experience and would recommend highly!
We reached out to Fixer because our small corgi puppy damaged the base board of our apartment in a few places, just wanted them to come for a touch up. This unfortunately has been an underwhelming experience for us.
The pros: really nice guy, friendly, good communication, and punctual.
The cons: spilled a can of paint right in our door way upon entry. Our guy felt embarrassed and I felt bad so I stayed with him and kept assuring him that's it's alright and offered him multiple beverages (coffee, sparking water etc) to calm him down. That took about 45mins to clean up.
Then there's the color matching part. It was a service included but man was I surprised there was no actual expertise in this area from Fixer. They did not match anything correctly, not even close. Even the white paint looks too bright, not to mention the grey paint. See the pictures.
Our fixer also forgot tools, such as sand paper of the correct grit. I offered him mine but they are too fine, so took a really long time to do the work and it's not done properly because we needed something under 100 grit to sand everything flush.
Lastly, all you see in the pictures are about 90% of the scope of work. It was 5-6 touch up spots, literally. The whole job took FOUR HOURS, from 9am-1pm. The worst part with time is now that I don't completely trust the fixer due to the spilled paint, I'd have to carve out half of my day overseeing the job.
Its unacceptable, and honestly, for the quality of work and speed, it's not professional. They charge by the hour, and we are definitely looking for them to adjust the bill for us and make it right.
Fixer was incredibly helpful with the requested job. I needed to get the door lock strike plate installed and he was able to do it very quickly. He then patched a hole in my wall and was able to do 2 additional jobs within the hour. I was impressed at his professionalism and speediness.
Would 10/10 go with Fixer again.

Fixer was VERY easy to contact, schedule on line, they arrived in a timely manner and their guy was super nice and professional, very friendly and completely straight forward and zero hassle. Really everything you need for your small fixes!

The Fixers were great at following up with us and getting the jobs done promptly. They clearly stated their limitations and performed the jobs well. I recommend them for small repairs/installations such as we hired them for.
So glad one of my friends recommended Fixer. The app was so easy to navigate and request the service. We needed a plumber ASAP. I called three other plumbers who were all booked until next week. Fixer came the next day. They were on time, explained there process, super friendly and courteous, fixed the problem, explained how the billing would work, made sure I was happy, and cleaned up before they left. Super great service!

They were on time, thoroughly professional, patient with my questions, explained my options, and did an excellent job mounting my tv to the wall! Very very happy.
Rain arrived at our home last week to install a ceiling fan he was on time and ready to work. He need a part to finish the job which he went out and picked up. Aaron did a very professional job in a short time. We will use Fixed again. AE
Great experience, our fixer Aaron did a great job of communication and fixed our project quickly and even verified that our property was secure before departing. Would definitely use again, especially as out of town landlords.
Needed to replaced bad wood floor underneath the kitchen sink due to water leak. Technician fixed the issue. I needed to replace sides too but according to technician it may be a bigger job since cabinets involve. Overall nice job at reasonable price with timely manner.
Tried to install doors and fix wiring myself. Dumb idea. Found Fixer on yelp. Easy scheduling tool on their website. Kenny came out, was incredibly professional and personable. Knew exactly what he was doing and was prepared with all the tools he needed. Didn't interrupt me while I was working, but made sure to update me along the way. Had me walk and verify everything was to my liking before he left. Would definitely use Fixer and Kenny again.
This was a great experience. Our fixer was punctual, efficient, and got the job done. This service is well worth it if you have a few projects that need attending to. Will definitely use this service again!
Got a new Washer/Dryer and LG was delaying install so called Fixer. They scheduled me within 3 days, but I received a text on the day of service stating they could come earlier. I chose to keep the existing later time, but then received a text 5 minutes before the scheduled time stating they couldn't make it and next available time was 5 days later! I the. Received another text 15 minutes later stating they could indeed make it, just 30 minutes after the originally scheduled time. It ended well, but just be prepared they may change scheduled times around you last. Invite and cause a little anxiety.
When the Fixers did arrive they were friendly, worked quickly, went to Home Depot to get a missing part and got things done quickly at a reasonable price. Would definitely use again.
I scheduled with this company and took off from work. Nobody ever called to cancel, they just never showed up. I have no clue what type of work they do but they are definitely not reliable nor respectful of other people's time.
Had a simple circuit breaker problem at my home. Filled out all of my information, scheduled a time, and then heard back by text that we would not be the best company for this project. No real reason given. Waste of time.
I ordered a pot hanging wall rack from Wayfare that I most definitely could not have hung myself! I hopped on Google and literally just typed in handyman and fixer was the first to pop up, I'm so glad I try them... they literally came out the next day, I scheduled for 10 AM and happen to not see my phone ringing when they arrived on time, I'm so glad they were able to reschedule me for the same day within the next hour or so. Chang did such a great job hanging my shelf, it's absolutely beautiful on my wall, he gave very helpful advice and was really cool conversationally,
And very professional!
I will be using fixer again for my future needs

Pretty easy process. I went to the website, told them the problem and the fixer rep came out the next day. My undermount sink fell and needed to be reinstalled. Took an hour. Rep gave a good estimate, worked quickly. For things you can't do yourself, the hourly rate is definitely reasonable. Decent amount of time slots were available.
initially, your company moved the date of service and then moved the time again once it was scheduled. If you don't want the job, please don't respond and accept the job. There were other contractors who would have taken the job and I passed on them. Seems to me, contractors do. It want the work available.

The work done was good, but I would not use this company again. I scheduled the appointment 2 weeks prior, before I even moved to Dallas. I called and confirmed with someone a week prior. I got numerous emails and texts from them confirming again the day/time. They were supposed to arrive between 9 and 10 am; when 10am came and went, I checked the status, and it still said no one had been assigned to my appt, so I texted them. Then, they confirmed quickly that someone would be there in 45 mins. The guy arrived about an hour later - 2 hours past the original start time of 9am. Interestingly, he said that he had just been notified of my appt 30 mins prior, and it was 50 mins away for him. I have no idea why, given I scheduled it 2 weeks ago and received numerous confirmations from them. Then, while the guy was nice and polite, it took twice as long as it normally has in the past, when I've moved, to hang the same pictures, mount one TV, etc. I even had all the screws used in the past ready-to-go for each item, but it still took very long. I had another appointment to get to that I was two hours late to, because it took so long and they were late arriving. For these reasons, I would not use this company again.

Hired them to install cabinet pulls in new kitchen and 3 baths. Plus change a door knob. On time and the job was done well (one pull was not in the right place but he fixed it (with the clock running at our expense). It ended up costing over $700 - which was WAY over the estimate. We provided an accurate number of the amount of cabinet pulls so did not expect to pay so much. We will try another company the next time we need a handyman

Brandon with Fixer was amazing. He installed three very difficult pendant lights. He went to the hardware store to make sure he got the right equipment needed and he made sure the length was to my liking. I will definitely be using Fixer again whenever I need work done.

Fixer provided service that is still not fully complete, (they are scheduled to come back for warranty work, since the fans that they fixed are not working), but they keep inundating me with reminders to review their service. So, this review is for the work that they did to date and the fact that they are willing to come back to fix something that they were supposed to fix the first time. The Fixer business model is good and the price was at the top end of the current market price ($ 2 per each minute on the clock). The tech that they sent was calm and professional and the accounting of time was accurate. They took half an hour to assess the work and provided a wide margin in their estimate. The assessment time and the final documentation was done on the clock, but that's also acceptable. What I didn't like read that the tech they sent did not ever see it fix vent fan in all their years of experience (although that was the first item on the list of tasks that I'd requested). So i helped educate them. The end result was that they cleaned the fan of accumulated dust, but really did not do anything to fix either bathroom vent fan. Within a day of their visit, one fan stopped working and the other sounds like a jet engine. When the tech was here, I even offered to go buy replacement fans, if they recommended it - but no, they said they'd just clean, use WD-40 and that the fans should work. To their credit, Fixer responded promptly to schedule a warranty visit Now we're waiting to see what happens.
The Fixer tech was very knowledgeable and was very patient with me and my list of to do's. Went over each item one by one. Very pleased with level of knowledge and had great suggestions to guide me on next steps. Will definitely be using them again!

We recently encountered a running toilet in our bathroom and knew to come straight to Fixer to have it repaired. We have used them in the past twice and have wonderful experiences. The tech arrived on time, was respectful of our home, and was both knowledgeable and had amazing customer service skills. Our Fixer tech quickly diagnosed the problem and even went and purchased the part to repair it. our toilet was up and running in less than 60 minutes. I highly recommend!
Jose was wonderfully patient as I was running a little late. My main concern was my front door which Jose fixed lickedy-split! He shared his expertise regarding several issues I'm concerned with. He was so knowledgeable and personable! I'm glad I found FIXER! I will be calling them often! Highly recommend!
Helped me replace my broken garbage disposal with a new unit and fixed a broken ornamental fountain in the garden. On time, polite and skilled tradesman.

Contacted me in advance and showed up on time (which was only 3 hours after I first went to their website). Showed up in mask, assessed my issue and took care of it. Even had a few minutes left of my 1 hour, so volunteered to help with anything else I needed done. Quick, efficient, safe and professional.
We needed a small renovation done in our guest bathroom and Fixer was able to accomplish everything on the list. We replaced our vanity, replaced two toilets and added a light. Our technician, Aaron, was great and polite. He tackled every project with a great attitude and even redid the floors under the vanity to accommodate the new one. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for quality handyman services.

I had a great first Fixer experience. Scheduling online was a breeze and they had lots of options, even same day availability. My Fixer was on time and communicated well about his anticipated arrival time. He worked quickly and efficiently to put my bed together. He did a good job of cleaning up after himself as well. I will definitely use Fixer again.
They were very responsive and prompt. I had all doors around the house not closing smoothly and had to change out the lights on the ceiling that were too high and called them, but after comparing the prices with different companies, they finished it very fast and at such a good rate.
Service was great, wonderful communication and was prompt. Lighting fixed correct and no issues. Thanks you.
