I am a realtor so using plumbers is something I do fairly often! I had some clients recently purchase a house and the bathrooms fixtures were limited on the spectrum of hot or cold water that would come out. It was either cold water that went only to lukewarm or warm water that went to scolding hot.
We thought they were going to have to replace their bathroom fixtures and the mixing valves in them to a higher quality. Instead, Anthony and Daniel came out from 1st Home and Commercial Services and identified the problem and came up with a solution that didn't cost hundreds of dollars! They were absolutely phenomenal!

They could have recommended the replacement which would have also meant tearing up the walls, but instead they took the honest and best approach!

This company is dishonest!
My kitchen sink was slowing, I have a membership with this company I paid $200 for a year, called them to come unclog it, lady over the phone told me it would be $79 instead of $99 because of the membership. Thought I really made a good deal signing with them.
Technician came a few days later, 3h late, took a look at my sink and told me the $79 are just for the dispatched fee, it's an additional $350 to unclog my sink. So you are telling me I have to pay $79 to have someone coming to my home to tell me how much it is to have my drain cleaned?! What I don't get is they had a technician checking on my plumbing a couple months earlier, when I signed for the membership. They knew my home and how is the plumbing, so when I said over the phone my kitchen sink is clogged, she should have say looking at the plumbing report for your home it would be $350 + $79 dispatched fee.
I should have been quote the $350 over the phone knowing it is the minimum to run the snake.
I refused service and invested in a snake.
Also, the best part, there was a promotion going on on their website, it's actually $99 instead of $350 but they don't tell you until you find it yourself.
Don't do business with them.

Olen & Tovar were very professional during the repair for my sewer system. I highly recommend 1st Home & Commercial Services.

They sent a plumber out last summer, Dominic, and I was very impressed with his patience in explaining his work. I like to learn and be able to do things myself and like it when tradespeople talk me through the processes and such. He gave me tips on some other stuff I could do myself around here to not have to hire a plumber, which is wonderful since he's honest and talking himself out of his own work!

I finally had my ancient water heater expire and I looked at replacing it myself or with some buddies. I decided to go the professional route in looking at it extensively, after a trip to Home Depot I went ahead and got a free quote from the company they contract to and when the fellow arrived he struck me as quite shady and not trustworthy at all. Showing me the prices and such he had written down but wouldn't let me take a photo of the page?! Arguing with me about the rebate program from the gas service here, etc. Was reticent to explain much to me also.

I skipped out on 0% financing through HD, a cheaper (-700 or so) job quoted to get Dominic back in here to do the work. While 1st Home ended up being more, I know the unit is better, the work was top notch, he and his cohort, Anthony, explained everything, quoted me that morning and started the work that day!

He allowed me to get a lot of good information which ultimately saves me a ton of money doing the simple things myself, and the job and unit and service were stellar! No regrets and I finally found a plumbing company I can recommend and keep in the old Rolodex when the next thing crops up I can't handle myself.

Great working with these folks! Front desk, on time, plumbers, gear, the install finish work, all great. I hope I don't have to call them back anytime soon but I'll be glad they're there when I need it!

Dominic came out to help with a plumbing issue and I really appreciated how he took the time to explain what was going on with the pipes.  He was very polite and took the time to answer any questions and told us what to watch out for in case of more issues.

After the totally positive experience with 1st Home last year, I didn't even go for competitive bids for the major project of replacing all the water supply pipes within my house. The job was expensive, but the team (Anthony and Andrew), knew what they were doing, and I now have great water pressure in sinks, dishwasher, washing machine - for the first time in 40 years!! Thanks! (I'm not giving a 5-star rating because they ran into a problem with the utility sink that's not yet resolved. They also didn't make clear that drywall replacement wasn't included in the estimate.)

The only company out of many that I contacted that wants to charge to provide an estimate.  They want $100 just to write up an estimate for the job to be done.

I wouldn't bother as there are many reputable companies that will provide free estimates.

We'd an issue with 2 faucets. They told me that that it would be $99 service call. I'd asked if there $99 becomes a part of the repair costs if I went with them. She said, No. Separate.  I said lemme get back to u.  5 later, while checking with other plumbers' costs and availability, I get a call from 1st Home. I talked with my manager and he said that we will include the $99. My response was, Let's do it.  Gut response was, they're gonna jack up the price.

Guy came as promised. As my gut predicted, the bid was, almost $1000 to replace two faucets. If we provided the faucets, the. About $900. We paid $99.  They will milk you.

No call no show twice. Thursday they were no call no show for an AC service.  When I called they re-scheduled for today between 9 and 9:30 am.  It's 11am and no one is here.  And no answer if or when they will show.  I understand things come up and mistakes happen, but at least call me to tell you're not coming.

UPDATE: they never called nor showed.  They left me hanging all day, twice

Excellent service and follow up. Electrical work done by Tim was perfect. I would have given them 5 stars except for their pricing structure which needs to be reviewed, plus it's a bit on the high side.

Absolute shady company who will rob you for nothing. They have poor customer service and they will make you sign contracts and send you 10 times bill and put a lein on your property. They should be out of business for this shadiness. Completely poor customer service.

After my regular plumbers got popular and were no longer ever available, I started using 1st home. They are a do everything company which had me hesitant, but their plumbing has been great.

We just had a second floor toilet leaking. Was pretty sure it was a bad wax ring that my remodeling contractor installed just a few years ago. Called 1st home and they were able to get me in the next business day.

Darius was super nice and fixed the problem which was a leaky rubber wax ring that my contractor installed. They are easier to install but arent as good as real wax rings.

1st home also fixed a leaking tub drain that I couldnt get to seal. They found that there was resizing insert in the pvc. Once they removed that, the tub sealed just fine. That has been good for about a year so far with no leaks.

Update on my previous review. 1st Home & Commercial has since helped me replace my HVAC system (was old when I purchased, and predictably did not last much longer), new system working great.

I also recently installed gas logs, and the installer noted that he suspected a gas leak in the fireplace valve. Darius and Andrew from 1st Home and Commercial responded quickly when I called them to come check it out. Similar to my previous review -- they were both very prompt, courteous, friendly, professional and responsive. Good communication on the appointments and dispatch also.

I finished renovating a rental property and the last day on the project I had a water leak in the main kitchen.  I spent 30 minutes and couldn't find where the leak came from.

I am from out of state and had a 20 hour drive the same day. I messaged several plumbing services and 1st Home quoted me the cheapest price and arrived within one hour.

The first technician was very nice and did everything he could to find the leak and non of us can figure where the puddle of water was coming from. Unfortunately I had to leave the state and prayed that the leak would fix it self.

I had a friend check in on the house and there was a puddle of water beneath the sink. We recalled 1st Home  while on. The road and they sent a different technician within an hour of the same day. He spent 30 minutes trying to find the leak and couldn't locate it. As soon he called me the to tell me he couldn't find anything the leak finally presented itself and he fixed it.

On top of that they didn't recharge me for another service call. We felt so relieved for the rest of the drive home.

So, I highly recommend them for speedy service with the cheapest service fee.

I was looking for a quote to replace my current kitchen sink and these guys want to charge me $99 to just do the quote!! No trouble shooting, no repairs, just a quote! I DONT TRUST companies that are afraid to be compared to their competitors via a bid process...I'll pass...

If anyone ever needs a plumber or pipe work call 1st Home and Commercial Services. Last night we came home to water spraying everywhere in our front yard. Our 4 year old is sick and my fiancé was all sweaty from a day at work. We called 2 other companies. One guy in our neighborhood that does plumbing, never called us back and then Clarke Kent Plumbing said they'd call us first thing this morning and they didn't. They also said they'd show up today this morning and they didn't. 1st Home and Plumbing Services was called last night. They told us if they came out last night, it would have been $700 plus but if we waited until today, then it would be half of that. We ended up paying $300 and change. Matt also showed up on time at 7am. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable and made us feel great about using his company. So God forbid you're in a bind like we were, don't waste your time with other companies in the area, that'll give you the run around and try to price gouge you on top of it. Just call 1st Home and Pumbing Service. Hugs and our waters back on.

I loved that they were able to schedule and dispatch a plumber within just a few days. Our plumber arrived on time (there was a 30-minute courtesy call beforehand), gave us an estimate in minutes, and finished the work right then. It took less than 30 minutes! If you agree to the work, they waive the $99 dispatch fee.

My home is pre-plumbed for water softener.  1st Home & Commercial Services came out and gave me an estimate for hooking up the water softener, which was very nice of them to do.  However, they wanted over $1,200.  No, that doesn't include the water softener! He said they charge $255 per hour. Sounds more like what a tax attorney would charge. Even if I was willing to pay $255/hour, it should only take a couple of hours to hook up anyway.  I bought the water softener at Lowe's, so I'm going through them.  It'll be $250 plus $40-$120 for parts.  I was only getting other estimates because I thought $250 sounded a bit high for a pre-plumbed hook up job.  If 1st Home & Commercial Services can explain why it takes 4 hours and $1200 to hook up my $400 water softener when my house is already pre-plumbed for it, I'll gladly amend this review.

This is the second time we've had 1st Home & Commercial Services come out to assist us and they have been great!  Drew came to assist us with some plumbing issues and is incredibly helpful and extremely personable. Our landlord seems to go through this company for most repairs and we are happy they do! Both technicians from this company have been proactive and genuine. We hope our landlord continues to use this company for repair issues we encounter.

My AC unit was going downhill and I decided to start shopping for a new one.  I had 13, yes 13, different AC/Heating companies come out and give me quotes for a complete AC/Heat system.  The very last bid was 1st Home and Commercial and I almost didn't call because I was tired of it by that point but I am so glad I did.  Tim Greene was the only one that was completely honest with me about the damper system I have that was not functioning properly.

His bid for the top of the line American Standard unit came in slightly cheaper than any of the others for the same unit and he also saved me money on the damper system by telling me the entire thing did not need to be replaced as several of the others had said.  Some said just to leave it broken. Well, this house was designed to have the damper system for efficiency so it didn't make sense to me to leave it broken.

I scheduled the install and they not only showed up on time, they were friendly, polite and very informative about what they were doing.  Tyler was my main installer and he was fantastic. He had injured his hand earlier in the week but still showed up to install my new system with no complaints.  All of the poeple who I have interacted with and the folks in the office have been great. They went above and beyond with communications, calls, texts about arrival times, the removal of the old unit, and installation of the new one.

They made sure to clean up after themselves and even cleaned up stuff other repairmen had left behind.  They walked me through every step telling me what they were working on, the steps they were taking, about how long each step would take and they only took a short lunch break.  They showed me how to use the new wifi thermostats, set them up and made sure I knew how to operate everything before they left. The house is nice and cool, the new unit is quieter and much more efficient than the old one.  I can't thank them enough and have already recommended them to others.

These guys are miracle workers. We had already had a diagnostic visit done by another plumber, and we had 1st Home and Commercial out to replace our tankless hot water heater. We were able to get a same day appointment. Their workers (Dominic and Zach) were prompt, courteous, and able to install the unit with minimal issues. Operators were friendly and courteous, and kept me in the loop. Pricing was reasonable for the work we had done. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Paid $550 to have them come clean my AC unit. Didn't check any airflow, showed me before/after pictures of the unit and looked at my Nest thermostat and left. Low and behold a few hours later; my house isn't being cooled to 72 degrees as it had been set, it's now slowly creeping towards the 80 degree mark.

The worst part is when I called them to explain my issue and see if they could come back out (business is literally a mile or two from my house); I was told no technicians. Ok, that's understandable, but when I asked if fees could be waived for not fixing my AC unit the first time and coming out the next morning, I was greeted with hostility. I believe it was something like, I'm sorry what? I can't do that, unbelievable., I am then put on hold for upwards of 10 minutes with no explanation....

I eventually hung up the phone and when I called back, got the same person, albeit a bit nicer saying they were calling technicians for me... Interesting, couldn't have mentioned that when you aggressively put me on hold with no explanation. Also, nothing was mentioned about any sort of fees for the upcoming visit. Definitely cancelling any sort of maintenance contract with them after that experience. And now another day wasted where I have to wait around for them to come. PASS...

UPDATE: 4 Days Later... AC has begun not cooling again. Another call to the company, can't send anyone out today of course. So after 3 visits, 1st being the initial diagnosis, the next being the 4th, they still haven't fixed the problem. Didn't know fixing AC was like playing horseshoes or bags, just throw something at it and hope it works, who cares if it takes them 4 times to fix it. My electric bill is considerably higher than it's ever been. Oh well, live and learn I suppose. And what have we learned today? Not to use 1st Home & Commercial Services....

UPDATE July 16th, 2019: Feel like it's just due diligence to update this review now. Cancelled my maintenance contract so I am only minus $400 dollars and no working AC, guess that's better than $550. So after their 4th visit to my house, they finally determined there was a giant crack in between a vent/furnace in my attic and basically all my cold air was leaking out... SO WHY DID IT TAKE 4 TIMES TO FIND THIS??? I have no idea. Again, it's cost a lot in time (mine and the companies) and energy (bills) for them to determine this. I asked if the tech could send me the pictures he took in my attic, and he said he would send a quote.

July 17th, 2019: Finally received the quote at noon, $370.00 to repair a duct with aluminum tape... Hmmm, hard pass. Even if I have to pay someone double or get up there myself, it would be worth it. That's about how I feel after a week plus of this, 4 visits, and who knows how many phone calls.

Our AC stopped working last night about 9:00 p.m. We called our installer and long time service company who claimed to have 24 hours service. They never returned our call, texts, or emails.  So I called 1st Home as they were nearby.  Ryan came out and quickly fixed the issue.  Great experience with 1st Home.

Mark came out to assess a leak that home insurance requested.  He was incredibly helpful and despite the fact that our kitchen has been demoed he was able to look at our equipment and make an assessment as to the root cause of the leak and walked us through his process of elimination.  He also taught us things that we can look for in the future to detect leaks.  He was incredibly patient and answered any questions we had.  Very clear and up-front communicator, we really appreciated working with him.

This Company is excellent. My inquires and service went smoothly from beginning to end. Serviceman Dominic L. was excellent. He assessed what I wanted done, and advised me on what needed to be done. He was very professional, knowledgeable, polite and patient. Dominic answered all of questions, and even discovered another issue if left unnoticed could have cost me more money.  I can't say enough about this Company. Dominic was very efficient, and kept me informed all along the way.  The Company is excellent and very responsive to phone calls. I would highly recommend this Company to anyone!  Dominic is simply great!!

Helped with Water Leaks during Tile Installation

1st Home was called in by my tile contractor when two of my three toilets were leaking when they were removed. They were able to come in and replace some antiquated hoses within a day, and whatever water was leaking had stopped. Since it was a rush, I paid a little more. Come to find out the hoses were only part of the problem. Another concern was the actual tank on each toilet was leaking not from the connector but the actual tank itself, meaning now i need to get new toilets.

I appreciate that they were responsive in coming over at the last minute. I'm also appreciative of the fact that they replaced my old (original) hoses, which were at least partly to blame. The tough part was that wasn't the entire problem and they didn't identify that. Plus, as stated it was costly due to the rush.

I'd like to give them another chance under better circumstances. I have a feeling they'd get a 4 or a 5 given more time to assess.

Awesome service start to finish!

Services were recommended on Next Door so I called for a non-urgent (but gross and smelly) plumbing problem: the pipe under the sink (disposal) was leaking. I was able to get an appointment for the next morning. She gave me a two hour window 8a-10a, but I kindly asked if there was anyway to shorten that window, and that I could wait a day or so if needed. She said no problems and said I'd be first on the list. She said I'd get a heads up as to when they would arrive.

Soon after I got a text confirming all the information. At 7:45 the next morning I got a note from our technician saying he was on his way. The text contained information about him (13 years experience, he likes fishing, etc.) and a photo. It made me laugh but then I also realized it was a nice security measure. It also had a gps tracker so I'd know exactly when he would arrive and the office number again should I need it. I think it's important to call out  would have felt comfortable had I been alone.

Casey was clean (and put shoe covers on before entering my home), friendly, and professional. He quickly diagnosed the issue and presented a clear quote. In the event we didn't chose to move forward immediately it would have been emailed. However, my husband was still present and signed off on the work and it was completed quickly and was reasonably priced.

Would not hesitate to use them again.

I  own three Austin properties and these guys have taken care of all our plumbing issues for 8 years.  They've tackled HUGE projects and little ones.  They are professional, punctual, fairly priced and their work is always reliable and awesome.  I just had Mr. Akers out yesterday and he again, just blew me away with his attention to detail and superior craftmanship.   Look no further!  I would never call anyone else to address my plumbing needs! I'll be a customer for life.

I needed a water softener removed. I was not charged for someone to come out and give a quote and the quote was reasonably priced. After receiving the quote I scheduled the work to be done 2 days later. During the initial quote, Mark did a great job explaining what they would do. When he arrived to complete the work he was on time, quick, and once he completed the work he walked me through what was done. Also he practiced safe measures during both visits to my home. I highly recommend 1st home.

I had a great experience last weekend when I needed a plumber ASAP due to a household leak and I will never take for granted the ability to get an emergency plumber!  My leak happened shortly after the Texas/OU football game and even in the best of times, plumbers are constantly busy.  Anyways, the dispatch at 1st Home & Commercial were very professional and sent Chris my way who drove in over 50 miles from Seguin to my place in West Austin!!!!

Chris showed up in a well outfitted truck and was quick to diagnosis my issue which he worked on and solved pretty quickly.  The rate was fair and waiting would've only cost me more in terms of water damage so I was grateful Chris applied his know how for my benefit.

Afterwards I had a decent amount of water damage that needed to be dealt with and Chris referred a water damage service who I had a great experience with and were dispatched immediately coming in from Bastrop.

All in all, it was great to work with Chris and I certainly suggest 1st Home and Commercial for everyday and particular short notice emergency service.

Once again 1st Home & Commercial has come to my rescue. We are opening a 2nd location of our business and had 1st Home come out to install the Micro Pure A/C just like in our first business location. While installing it, they found that rodents had chewed through a lot of the electrical wiring in the attic. That same day they brought out their electrical team to get me an estimate for that repair and were able to start on that the next day while the HVAC team continued working on the A/C project. I can't express enough how great it is using such an efficient and knowledgeable company. The plumbing, a/c, and electrical teams all work together to get the job done and I love how efficient it is to use one company for all 3 of these different services. Special thanks to Caleb, Tyler, and Brandon for getting this huge job done, and now we are one step closer to getting this 2nd location open.

Ohhh where to start with this review?  I wonder what the character limit is on Yelp?  This process began back in June, 2017, with a quote from 1st Home for a commercial plumbing job.  One of the things quote included was for complete plumbing and installation of a water heater.  Once they had delivered and installed the water heater, they informed me they'd forgotten to include power supply in the original bid......a water heater with no power supply is of no use, right?  They could do it, they said, for an additional $700+ dollars.  (incidentally, I chose to go elsewhere at that point).

Fast forward a couple months later, the City of Austin plumbing inspector does not approve the permit, due to the water heater drain access not being properly  installed.  The company owner, Stephen Harrell actually tried to say I would have to bear the expense of the correction....I quickly let him know that I'd be doing no such thing.

Well, they made an appointment and sent Dan (who by the way is very polite, punctual, and cleaned up his mess).  I had understood they'd be accessing a drain that was inside the wall.

At the end of the day when they finished the work I was SHOCKED to see the ridiculous solution they'd chosen to remedy the problem.  Upon expressing my dissatisfaction I was told this was the only way the City will approve it.  Hopefully I can post a picture to this review.  They ran a pipe through the bathroom wall leading down the wall (on the other side) and into the employee breakroom sink.  That was 10/4/2017, today is 10/9/2017 and I've yet to receive a call to schedule another inspection.  No surprise there given the void of customer service and snarky attitude of the owner.

As a courtesy, I did text the owner a picture of their finished product, to which I received no reply.  I don't like giving reviews like this but hopefully this with spare someone the aggravation and expense it's costing me.  I would NEVER hire this company again.

Had an urgent plumbing need for our new property, while we were traveling.  My wife contacted 3 companies over the weekend and 1st Home was the first one to come out Monday morning and in the rain (raining all night and day).. Chris was able to locate the problem and rectify it).
Not only that, he went the extra mile, and helped my daughter with a small car problem.
Great company, great service, timely, and Chris is great to work with. Highly recommend!

I called to have my garbage disposal looked at because it was leaking from the bottom. I already knew that it probably needed to be replaced, so it was a quick diagnosis. They were very responsive and were able to get someone (Dan) here within 2 hours. He was excellent at service.
The only reason I'm NOT giving this 5  stars is  because they are WAY overpriced on their product and installation charge. The product (Badger) only cost $99 retail and they charge me $500 to install which took all of 15 minutes. That's outrageous!! Anyway, my fault for not doing more research and getting different quotes. I later learned that I could have easily done this myself. Lesson learned!

Great business!  Came same day and really punctual. They confirmed the appointment and arrived just in the amount of time they said they would. Caleb checked my outlets flipped a switch and we were fixed. He quoted me a GFI and some new tampering free outlets for my 16 month old. The price was right so I told him to move forward. He performed the job right there and was done in half an hour. Awesomeness!

Had a drain clog problem at a bathroom sink. Also wanted a pro to handle replacing the sink's faucet, which was complicated by the presence of the A/C condensation drain joining up with the sink drain. 1st Home's friendly Brit plumber, Mark, was able to get here way before the assigned time, so we had to scramble to get ready, but I was glad to get it done sooner. Mark got the clog removed quickly and dealt with all the drain joint problems that would have driven me crazy had I tried doing it myself. Good work! Thanks.

These guys did an OK install of a water heater (only two problems, both fixable my me) so I decided to try them on some duct work.  I needed a new supply plenum and had a video chat with Ryan at the end of March.  I climbed up in the attic, took a bunch of pictures, made some measurements, explained what I wanted done and asked for a quote.  Though Ryan seemed a little distracted (not yet the busy season), I waited for a week before recontacting him.  He said,  Sorry I'll have that quote tomorrow.  Five calls and six weeks later, each time with the message Someone will call you back today, I call again.  Marcos, though the customer service agent (who never gives her name), says to tell me we will not bid on the job.  Well thanks for nothing Marcos, Marcus, or how ever you name is spelled. You should have told me that back in March, before I crawled up in the attic and did all that work and now that's its too hot for anyone to be up in attic.  No excuse for waiting 6 weeks to deliver that message.  They seem to be just another hit or miss home repair company.

Extremely expensive. See the breakdown below. I paid 45$ for the consult and was shocked at the quote so I decided to shop around. The labor to fix the control issue was $500. And quoted $2400 to replace entire heater. They say their quality is good but I am not one to comment on that. All I got was a quote from them.  I ended up doing the install myself for 33% of the cost.
Here is their breakdown compared to homedepot. You can judge for yourself.

1st plumbing-
Water heater: $1100 Rheem 40 gal short
Expansion tank: $250
Drip pan : $140
Reroute drip pan: $170
Replace supply line and valve: $220
Replace gas line and drip leg: $150
City inspection: $260

Homedepot prices for parts only-
Water heater: $419 Rheem 40 gal short
Tank: did not need replacing. If did $50
Drip pan: $20
Reroute: $10
Replace supply line: did not need replacing
Replace gas line: $20
Drip leg: replacement not needed $30
Labor (pro plumber friend): $300

The drip pan replacement was enough to cause me to write this review. $20 pan installed for $310. It is literally just an aluminum pan. I then noticed they stated they needed to replace the supply line and valve due to a leak. However the leak they pointed out was on the hot water supply. Not the water supply which he stated needed to be welded in and new valve replaced. I had a plumber friend look at it and said it is 100% good. It just needed a new gasket to stop the leak it had at the connection to the tank.

They scared me with the expectation I needed new pipes, welding, and there were gas codes which my house was not up to code on. Many specialty services a plumber would do. However there was no welding needed and a gas line was 100% to code.

Other quotes also were high from other companies. In the range of $1400-1800 but do not be fooled. Do your research. If uncomfortable with install buy all parts and hire the installation labor separately.

We really appreciated the service 1st home & commercial provide.  Plumber was punctual, efficient and found the issue of our kitchen skin backup quickly after I tried my best to figure it out for over 2 days.  My only grip is I wish the price was a little cheaper after comparison.

Awesome service! Chris got there right on time and got directly to work. We chatted while he worked and I learned a ton of interesting facts about what goes down my drain.
(Did you know that if toothpaste and mouthwash combine in your sink, they will congeal in your pipes and lead to slow draining!)
Chris even fixed things that had been broken for years, not because he had to but because he wanted to leave everything better than he found it - and after a quick wipe down, form signing, and a handshake, he did just that.
Thank you, Chris, for your exceptional service!

I just had 1st Plumbing Services come to give me an estimate on what I thought was a simple task (remove a water softener from my house's input water line). I can do this job in less than 2 hours. 1PS wanted $429.34 to do what they estimated to be a 1-1.5 hour job. YIKES! When I complained about the excessive fee, they brought it down to only $388.34. I guess times have changed, but I didn't know that plumbers (with company overhead) now go for a rate of $250-300/hour. I paid my $45 fee for the service call, and cut my losses.

By the way, if you want a good independent plumber in Austin who works for a reasonable hourly charge, and charges minimal overhead (e.g. travel), then I recommend Gilbert at Blue Dragon Plumbing.

Our property management company set us up with 1st Home & Commercial Services when we had issues with not having hot water. I was able to set up a same-day appointment, and the lovely lady who called me was able to set a flexible appointment window that fit my work hours.
Chris Thompson arrived right on time, and he was a super charming, friendly guy right from the get go. He diagnosed our issue the first second he looked at our water heater (ruptured tank due to sediment build up; flush your hot water tanks regularly!) and was on the phone with all the right people to get us a replacement. He had to stay at our house a long (looonnggg) time waiting for the approval, delivery, and to do the installation, but we had a great conversation -- he has so much knowledge to share, not just about plumbing but also general home ownership. He seems like a guy you could kick back for a few hours with, just swapping stories and hanging out.
I turned on a sink by accident while he was working and he got splashed with water, but he laughed it off. What a great personality!
Great experience with an emergency situation. At least as a renter, I highly recommend Chris Thompson and 1st Home & Commercial services.

I called for repair of AC ducts in my attic, choosing 1st Home because they are fairly close to my house. I got an appointment for two days later, which was ok. I got a text from the tech, Jarred, shortly ahead of his arrival. He was friendly and professional, and listened to my explanation of what I expected.  He diagnosed the problem and told me it would be a two-person job, and got me on the schedule for the next morning, first thing, because I would be leaving home for an extended trip that morning.  They were right on time, and completed the job efficiently, then carefully cleaned up afterward.  Jarred sent me pictures of the attic interior before and after the job, which I also appreciated.  He was genuinely concerned with doing a good, thorough job, and I highly recommend 1st Home and Jarred in particular!

Extremely professional and fast.  I was able to get a service call in an hour.  The tech, Gregory was extremely polite and explained several options. He completed the work and to my surprise cleaned up all debris from the service call.  I was not expecting him to clean up after himself. Stellar company. Stellar professionalism. Stellar tech.  I hope I never need a plumber again though if I do, I know who I'm calling.  1st Home.  Thanks for a great job.

I thought they were prompt in coming out, but I felt like I got price gouged. I was quoted a $69 or $79 diagnostic fee on the phone and when the technician came out, he called me and told me that the charge would be $179 since it was a stackable washer and dryer. My hands were tied since this was a rental property and I desperately needed somebody to let me know what the issue was with the washer and/ or washer connection. When I requested the service in the first place, I was clear what the issue was and I was also clear that it was a stackable set in a closet. Long story short, it took him 15 minutes to tell me that I needed a new machine. It just seemed like a waste for such a easy diagnosis. He did look at the toilet for me, which was much appreciated, but I'm still not sure that warranted almost a $200 charge.

We first worked with 1st Home and Commercial when we needed our water heater replaced. Since then we had peace of mind inspections for electric and plumbing. We met David and 1st Plumbing Services at the Circle C Food Trailer night.  He came out and diagnosed and fixed our low water pressure.  He was early, professional and a knowledgeable Plumber. Will use them again.

Updated: About a year later we called 1st plumbing to help with a garbage disposal installation, and the receptionist insisted that they come out, and we pay the $45 consult, even though we know what we need. Will try somebody else.

I called this business because of the positive yelp reviews.  My experience was not positive!  In fact I feel very taken advantage of by 1st Plumbing.  I was told on phone there would be a $50 service charge applied to work done.  (Fine, no problem.) When they got here, there was also a $150 trouble shooting fee.  Told parts were under warranty but labor cost would be almost $500 and there would be another additional $150 charge to go get the parts needed.  So $800 and service charge wasn't even applied to the total!  I didn't authroize the transport of parts or the labor, but had to pay the $200 in service and trouble shooting charges.  I then called someone else.  They were here within an hour, had parts on the truck, and my entire charge was $138.  And the best part?  What 1st Plumbing said was wrong wasn't even the problem....

I contacted 1st Plumbing twice to see if they wanted to rectify the problem by refunding the $150 trouble shooting charge (and I would be fine paying the $50 service charge).  I wasn't even given the courtesy of a response. You would think their professional reputation would matter to them, but apparently not enough to discuss the incident with an unhappy customer.  I would continue to go without hot water next time rather than give them another chance.

The moment the phone call was answered I could tell that 1st Home & Commercial Services was a professionally run business. They told me who to expect for my service technician and sent me a photo of him and I was able to track his route to my home with GPS! Chris came to my home in a timely fashion and diagnosed the problem and gave me a very reasonable quote. I agreed and he and his assistant were done within an hour. The technicians even wore booties to keep my floors dry from all this rain! What a relief it is to find a company that actually does what it is in business to do. Serve the customer and do a good job! Thanks!

I'm living in my first house (recently built home), and don't know too much about maintenance. I spoke with 1st AC to ask what I should do to take care of my AC, since we're switching.

I had a very pleasant experience, speaking with Jason. He talked to me about their maintenance program, & how this will prolong the life of an AC unit, which could save me $1000's in the long run.

He also mentioned that duct cleaning is really important, not only for your health, but also for the life of the unit. He also mentioned that seeing soot near vents is a big sign for a need of cleaning/maintenance.

Because my home was recently built, he said that we probably wouldn't need anything yet, but it would be a great idea to have them come out in the spring before it gets hot to start the maintenance program & ensure we won't have any issues when we really want the AC on.

I love the fact that he was educating me, & wasn't trying to sell me something that I didn't need. I will definitely refer them to my family & friends.

The was my second time using their service.  I decided to use them for my current issues, clogged kitchen sink, due to the good service I received with my clogged toilet.  During this service tech was at my house for 20 min and said that there was not an issue with the drain.  I was surprised because all he did was run water to see if the water backed up.  He did not perform any diagnostic work outside if that.  I paid and   about an hour later the drain was clogged again.  The issues is that you will get service tech's with different skills and never the same tech.  I had to call Just in Time plumbing to fix my clogged sink.  He performed a full diagnostic, vacuumed out the drain, removed the pipe under the sink, etc.  Drain now fixed!

Chris was early (yep, you read that correctly) and walked me through options and pricing for the repair of my toilet shutoff valve. He was honest, professional and super quick. I am very disappointed with the plumbing done by 1st Plumbing Services. We had them over to fix a cracked pipe, and showed them the area in our front lawn where there was a lot of water and we assumed the crack was at. It was easily accessible about a yard from the sidewalk. The water was running over the sidewalk. They told us it would be $475 just for them to find the crack. Seeing that we thought it was kind of easy to locate I thought this was a large amount but told them to go ahead because I just wanted it done.

However, I came out awhile later after they had done some digging and they had told my husband that they were almost sure that the leak was coming from beside the house and that they needed to tear up my redwood mulch and bushes landscaping. Obviously I wasn't excited about this option but went ahead and agreed since they were so sure that was where the leak was and we needed it fixed. After hours of digging, and butchering my landscaping, and the dirt they were digging up wasn't even soaking wet like the original location we showed them. They decided it wasn't there.

3 or 4 hours later they go back to the original location we showed them, easily accessible by the sidewalk, and find the crack in the pipe is there. Now my lawn looks horrible, and they replanted the bush they dug up but it doesn't look like it has enough roots to survive. They didn't offer us any discount for the fact that it looks like a natural disaster went through our lawn. I would never use this company again. We paid $686 for them to destroy our lawn in 5 hours, for a job that an experienced plumber could have done in 1 hour. I will say they did try their best to fix the messes that they made, but unfortunately we will have to do some work.

I called 1st Home & Commercial after a long day of struggling to fix some valves on my own and within a couple hours, Nathan showed up and had all the valves in the bathroom fixed up in no time so I could turn my water back on. He was incredibly polite and cheerful, considering it was 11 pm on a Sunday. The emergency visit fee was not cheap, but I really was not looking forward to being without water for a couple days so it was worth the price.

I have only had good experiences with this company until a couple of weeks ago. I made an appt for someone to come do our twice a year HVAC maintenance. This was our first HVAC maintenance as we just bought our home last fall. He was supposed to come between 8 and 12. He showed up around 4pm. He proceeded to check the unit (interior and exterior). He then couldn't really tell me anything and said he would take pictures for his boss to look at and his boss would call me. This whole thing was just weird. I have never had a technician not be able to tell me anything about what they see or think. I tried to pay and sign up for the twice a year maintenance and he said he couldn't sign me up or let me pay and that I would have to call the office. I forgot to mention that when I made the appt they said the technician would be the one to sign me up. Then to this day, no one from first home has called me, including his boss, I haven't paid for my visit. It's almost as if the appt didn't even happen, even though it most definitely did. Needless to say that I have an appt with a different company to come out and do our maintenance and I will be signing up for a maintenance plan with that company. Hey first home, I tried to give you business and pay (I even called the office and left a message that he didn't have me pay anything). Just a very weird and disappointing experience.

Based on a recommendation I called these guys. Am I glad I did. My a/c unit was running but couldn't keep up with heat.  It was 85 degrees in our house the day the temp was 112.  When Tim Greene showed up I was immediately impressed with his professionalism and knowledge.  There was no high pressure sales pitch. This happened on Wednesday and on the following Friday we had cooling again.  The crew (Tyler and Brandon) came when scheduled and immediately began working.  Poorly installed duct work was replaced, etc...When Tyler cut his hand and had to leave Chris and crew showed up and finished the job. I should mention that Chris answered questions and looked at a couple of plumbing problems that were unrelated to the A/C service call.
The next Tuesday Tyler and Brandon came out to install a couple of dampers that he forgot because of his accident. They adjusted them so that air flowed much more efficiently to areas of the house that needed more cooling.  They even changed the registers for air to correctly flow in each room.

These guys are first class as far as I'm concerned.  I would certainly recommend them and I will certainly call them should I need help in the future.

I needed help fast - I was having a baby shower at my home and the plumbing was backing up.  Jeremy at 1st Plumbing was there within the hour on a Saturday and was able to quickly diagnose and resolve my problem.  On top of that he was very friendly and polite, which costs nothing and in my opinion adds tons of value!

Yes, I had to pay the over-time service call of $100 because it was a Saturday and I needed help ASAP but pricing in general was reasonable and Jeremy was not a pushy sales person trying to up my bill.

I would highly recommend the company to my friends and family.

Where to begin. Today was a holiday, and first thing this morning, both toilets in our house stopped functioning entirely. 1st Home and Commercial Services was the only plumber I could reach on the phone, and Casey answered before 8am. I told him we had an emergency and he had someone at our house at 8:58am.

Another man named Casey was who showed up at our house and he immediately set to work trying to diagnose the problem. The only thing is that our plumbing turned out to be a total mess and something of a mystery.

The whole ordeal ended up being more complicated and difficult than anyone anticipated, and both Caseys ended up coming out together to get things cleared up. Overall, they collectively worked from 9am to 6pm on a holiday, managed to locate the problem and clear it, and even after all the time and effort they put in, the price was shockingly affordable. Both Caseys were extremely courteous and worked very hard to help us to be able to stay in our house tonight. We can't thank this company enough for coming through for us!

Owner seemed nice when I talked to him on the phone. I explained the situation of how my bill got run up by the plumber unnecessarily by charging me master plumber prices for a guy in training as well as them doing unauthorized work. An expensive waste of time and money.

I asked 1st Plumbing to look for water leaks inside and outside my house after I had two outrageous water bills from the city. They checked everything and said there were no leaks but they did point out some old water damage and mold under my kitchen sink.

I asked is there a leak now? Does it need to be fixed? No, you just need a carpenter to repair your cabinet.

So I hired a carpenter right away and in 2 minutes he discovered that not only was my disposal leaking, but every time I turn on the sink, it's leaking, significantly!

The plumber's very green apprentice felt around under the sink but he never tested the disposal or ran the water to see what would happen. That seems like something a plumber would know to do.

Now I have a bowl under my sink until I can take more time off work to hire another plumber to come and fix what 1st Plumbing missed. Very unhappy customer. :-(

On Aug.30, 2019, I called this company about a malfunctioning AC thermostat. I had used them in the past, and although they seemed pricy, had been happy with their work.
I called and was told a technician would be there between twelve and four. A few minute later I got a call and was told a tech. could come right over.
Chris Wyatt arrived. I had met him before. He is a very pleasant person and seems to know his business.
I told him the problem and he said he had a thermostat with him.
Before he began, I asked him how much the thermostat cost. $325 he said. I was quite surprised. I had thought they would be no more than a  hundred or so.
Anyway, he completed the installation in a few minutes (it's a simple two wire hookup), And I paid him. About $375 total.  ) I became curious the next day. I looked it up on the internet. $50-60 retail! The exact same thermostat! A 700% mark-up! I felt ripped off and like a fool.
Needless to say, I will never use this company again.
For you technicians, including you Chris Wyatt, I hope you sleep well at night knowing how you rip people off. Remember, what goes around, comes around!

Jonathan is as good as it gets. He is the complete professional -- highly competent, extremely courteous, and, based on multiple visits (for unrelated plumbing issues), is as honest as the day is long. There is absolutely nothing negative I can say about him or his performance. One of our many issues (we have a very old home) was a sewage smell which permeating the entire house. This has been going on for several years, believe it or not. We've had several professionals out to deal with it, but to no avail. Jonathan, on the other hand, diagnosed it and fixed the problem in no time flat (well under an hour). For the first time in a very long time, the only smell one is confronted with when entering our house is whatever is baking in the oven. Jonathan is a miracle worker.

Allow me to set the scene: we live in a home built in the 70's my roommate almost drowned due to water flooding into her room, our management company arranged for 1st home to come out. Randy, Casey, and Greg located the source of the leak and patched our home right up, they even located an attic we weren't aware of! All three guys were incredibly friendly and personable, we gave a small dog with chronic anxiety and they all took the time to make him feel comfortable, even the cat liked them and she's pretty judgy!

My AC went out last night and I made a call in at 7AM to their answering service and was immediately called back by the company with a service schedule.  Wes showed up before 9 and was able to quickly diagnose the issue and had the tools and parts to fix it quickly with good advice on preventive maintenance.  If something goes wrong again, they'll get my business.

I tried to fix my outside spigot and essentially ended up flooding the inside of my house. Within hours, Lance at 1st plumbing services came out and not only fixed my spigot quickly he made it better so I'll never be able to do this kind of damage again to my house. Lance was very friendly, knowledgable, and he helped me to get in contact with someone that will help with my water damage inside my house. I was lucky to happen upon 1st plumbing and even luckier to get Lance as my plumber. Thank you and I'll be using you guys for any future problems.

We had a leak under the slab in our house after a recent cold freeze.  I called 4 other plumbing outfits, getting nothing but recorded messages, before I got a real person at the phone at 1st Plumbing.

Steven and his helper arrived and calmly allayed our fears and concerns  that we might have a major (and expensive) disaster on our hands.

As it turned out, tracking down the leaking culprit pipe was more involved than Steven originally estimated (took 2 1/2 days), but they stuck with it until they finally discovered the bad pipe, buried some 2 feet down, and corrected the problem without needing to dig into the foundation.  Although it took longer than any of us expected, Steven stuck with the original estimate.

Yes, these situations can be expensive, but then responsiveness and results are worth a lot in my book!

Oh, and afterward they carefully cleaned up after themselves, including nicely restoring the dirt in the ditches they had to dig to find the pipes.

If you are experiencing an AC emergency, or if you just need something routine, these are the guys to call! Our AC completely stopped working on a Saturday afternoon when temperatures were forecast to be into triple digits. John Gumfory was our technician and promptly addressed the problem. He went out of his way to explain things not only to us every step of the way, but also to our landlord. I'd highly recommend these guys. They can be trusted!

Updated to two stars as they did, eventually (four days after the job was completed), provide an estimate. They did actually show up to look at the problem, which is more than I can say for some other companies. That said, their estimate was more than twice as much as the company that did the job.

They were very responsive and sent two very nice guys to install a water heater that had just broken over the summer. They were very expensive, charging $2400 for the new water heater and installation but given my desperation I was willing to pay. I am not giving them a bad review because of their installation and price but because of what happened afterwards. We wrote them a check the day of installation for final payment, which they somehow lost afterwards. They called about a week later and told us they had lost the check and I needed to mail another one. However, I did not immediately issue another check as I needed to find the original check number to place a stop order on it and figure out what happened. I then received a very aggressive call from their manager threatening to report me to the credit bureau for lack of payment if I did not pay over the phone. I told them them that I would not pay until there was a stop order placed. He agreed to let me place the stop order and gave me exactly one week to do so. He was aggressive and unprofessional, despite the fact that their office lost a check. They had no right to threaten me when I paid in full at the time of service. Avoid working with them unless you want to be threatened and have your check lost!

I called 1st Plumbing based on my proximity and decent reviews.

I explained my needs to Shane over the phone and told him that I was going to need a hydrojet service and wanted to know what the cost would be.  He replied that he did not know what the cost would be and he would need to send over a plumber to make an estimate AND the service call would cost $45, however, he did assure me that they did have a hydrojet service.

A few hours later the plumber arrives and tells me the hydrojet service is going to cost at least $600.  So I say wow that's a lot,  pay him $45 and send him on his way.

This is not a very honest business model.
Thanks for wasting my time.

Awful company that has no integrity or want to do right by their customers. I just spent $5,000 on a new HVAC SYSTEM 2 months ago. TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH!!! We discussed that I keep my home at 68-70 degrees and they recommended a certain unit. The unit never cooled my home sufficiently. I had to call them out 5 times and every time I got a different explanation for why it wasn't working then they switched out my thermostat to a thermostat that they can run tests on.... still no follow up or a reasonable explanation for why my house would never cool to 70 degrees.... I can't even get it below 75 degrees until 2:00 am when outside has cooled down. This has been going on for 2 months now and they finally told me that there is nothing they can do about it and that it acceptable for the unit not to be able to cool to 70.... they said their guidelines is that as long as the HVAC cools the home down to within 25 degrees outside then it is working properly. And then they basically told me that if I wanted to cool my home down to 70 degrees that I'd have to pay for them to install a bigger unit that would cost $2k more on top of the $5k I already paid. Then they didn't even have the decency to come out and take their test thermostat back and put my nest thermostat back on the wall..... the test thermostat is still on my wall! These people do not care about their clients and they gave me the run around for 2 min ya before basically telling me f*** off. Now I am going to have to speak to the manufacturer of my unit to try to get help. I am contacting the better business bureau. And if nothing helps I will be contacting my lawyer. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!!!!

David from 1st Plumbing Services came out to our house in Cibolo. We knew what needed to be done and had already turned away another plumber after they arrived 5 hours late and wanted to charge almost $100 more than 1st Plumbing to snake and unclog our bathroom sink drain. David was friendly and professional AND went above and beyond what was needed without charging extra. He even gave us some great maintenance tips on how to prevent this kind of clog from happening again.

I recently moved to South Austin and was in need of a plumber to install a new kitchen sink faucet, new garbage disposal and to seal the new sink.
I was charged an upfront $45 fee for a quote. Understandable since it would be applied towards the invoice for the work to be done.

For this nominal amount of install, I was quoted $963.
I wholeheartedly agree that a plumber is worth $150-$200 an hour for labor but $963 for a 2 hour install is predatory pricing in my opinion.
I declined to have them do the work and had Clarke Kent Plumbing handle it instead.
I found them to be fairly priced and was satisfied with the work.

1st Plumbing is amazing! We had previously asked another company to come out here and unclog the drains and replace a handle in our shower. Not only did that company not finish replacing the handle, but they turned on a burner in our stove when the plumber bumped into one of the stove knobs. He burned the burner covers and did not even apologize.

ENTER 1st Plumbing.....

They came in the day after we called them (on time), took a look at the shower, left to get a quick part, and fixed the handle. All of this was done within one hour. The person that fixed our shower was EXTREMELY courteous. I will definitely call them again for any future repairs.

Jeremy came out and was very friendly and did a perfect job.  He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.  He came for a toilet issue and after he fixed that he showed me how to take off my tub stopper (I promise it is a tricky one) and cleaned out the drain full of hair at no extra charge.  He went above and beyond and he was so nice and professional.  I would highly recommend them.  Their prices are extremely reasonable especially for the level of customer service they provided.

This morning my toilet started leaking pretty badly. I called 1st (on a Sunday) to ask for an estimate for price and time. There was a $100 fee for them just to show up during overtime and I accepted as this amount was on the lower end of the quotes I had received from other companies. Shawn from 1st was at my house within an hour of me setting up the appointment. He was very professional and fixed my toilet quickly. I had to pay the overtime fee plus the parts and labor. Overall I think it was a reasonable price and I appreciated Shawn arriving so quickly.

Not satisfied with 1st Home & Commercial Services! They came out to do a simple job of replacing our shower faucets. We had been having problems with the handles not turning and knew they needed replacing. Due to time constraints(us leaving the next day on sabbatical) we had to have them replaced that day. The technician went to Home Depot to get the $50-$60 kits and had the job completed start to finish in an hour. We were charged $1200 for the job. Crazy that it could even cost that much. Basically $1000 for an hour of labor. Then we had to have him come back because he did not apply a seal. While we were away I had emailed them( no cell service for a month) about a problem with the installation and never heard back from them. We have moved on to a company we really like and can rely on with honest pricing and quality work.

WOW!!  What a great company.  Called them after another plumber left us hanging with no water for several days.  W/in 90 minutes of my call they were here, ordered the parts needed and installed them the next day.  Plus they were less expensive than the quote the other plumber (that left us hanging) had quoted.  Professional and caring - qualities other professionals are lacking.  I won't hesitate to refer them for any plumbing, electrical or HVAC work anyone needs.  THANK YOU and keep up the great work!

I've used these guys 3 or 4 times over the last 6 years or so for plumbing issues. I've had a different plumber each time, and each time they were courteous and knowledgeable. While plumbers aren't cheap, I felt their costs were reasonable, and in light of the fact they fixed my problems with no issues, their costs were a very good deal. Ripped off. Sean and assistant installed a new hot water heater about 2 years ago. It was a late Saturday afternoon and I had a feeling they weren't being entirely above board but I went ahead with it since I was leaving town the next day. My new neighbor is a master plumber so when the heater recently started making strange noises, I asked him to take a look at it. It was minor and he fixed it in 5 minutes. However, he asked me who installed the heater and the reason he was asking was that while the work was ok, they used about $400 in unnecessary parts.

I came home from work on a Thursday afternoon to find water bubbling up from the yard in what I assumed to be a sprinkler leak. Unfortunately, it turned out to be broken water main. This was likely caused by root movement from a nearby tree due to the recent rainfall. Obviously I had to shut off the water at the main valve.

You would think it would be easy to get a plumber out for a borderline emergency like this. I started calling plumbers about 7 am the next morning. I probably called ten places. Even the overflow plumbers referred by other places couldn't come out. Do these folks really think we're waiting out the weekend with no water? The only companies that could come out on Friday were 1st Plumbing and ARS.

I asked 1st Plumbing to come out for several reasons. First, they answer the phone. And not through some automated phone tree nightmare where they take 40 pieces of personal info before telling you they can't come out at a reasonable time. 1st Plumbing not only answered the phone, they let me talk to a plumber immediately. Second, it's clear they're used to doing a lot of emergency work. Check their hours of operation versus almost anyone else. Finally, they have more solid reviews of their service than ARS which, to be honest, doesn't have a great reputation.

Their guys came out when they said they would, actually a little early. They immediately diagnosed the problem and told me exactly how long it would take to fix. They finished the job sooner than they said. They were very professional. I'd love to say they were a bargain but that would be going too far. Based on the internet reference sites I visited, they charged, more or less, about the average rate for this particular repair. It's not cheap to have a broken water main repaired. Still, I have no qualms about the quality of their service. I would absolutely call them again if I had a plumbing emergency.

1st Plumbing just left my house. And while the service man and receptionist were very nice and polite, I had specifically called out that I would need a camera to scope out the issue in my drain. They mentioned that wouldn't be an issue. So after his diagnosis, he decided he needed a camera but didn't have it. Had I known that the camera would not be available for 2 days, then I would not have requested a visit by this company. $45 bucks for 10 minutes to tell me something I already knew.... not happy.

I had a drain clog that I first tried to fix myself. In doing so, I managed to backflow a bunch of nasty water out two other drains that I wasn't having problems with before, so I decided to call in a pro. I called after hours twice, and got a call back the second time. They were willing to dispatch emergency service but I didn't feel strongly enough about my problem to pay the $200 after-hours charge. Instead, I called the next morning to set up a service call. I got a same-day appointment and the dispatcher said a tech would arrive between noon-2pm. At 1:30pm the dispatcher called back and said there was a guy on the way, and just a little before 2pm Dan pulled into my driveway. Dan was super nice and got my drain cleared out and flowing better than ever. He was in and out in an hour. I'll call again should I ever get in over my head.

Really appreciated the effort they took over the phone initially to arrange the right person to come out (a/c vs plumber), they even had me take pictures for them to look at before sending someone.  Consequently, the guy who came (promptly, at the front of the time window) already basically knew what he needed to do and brought the parts to fix it.  He confirmed what the job was once seeing the situation, gave me a straight forward price (that was the same as the potential quote given on the phone) and was courteous and quick.  We woke up to a leak coming from our ceiling tiles and had it fixed in only a few hours total thanks to this awesome team.

Most Expensive Solution Imaginable: I said No Thanks.
Our problem was a washer drain hose line that had backed up, causing water to spill back into our laundry room annex every time we washed a load. I called 1st plumbing and they showed up as scheduled. The young man was very polite and very nice. We went under the house and looked at the lines. I wrongly thought that something needed replacing and he suggested a whole new line with PVC replacing the galvanized with a new p-trap and getting rid of the old cast iron one. That sounded great to me, if a bit overkill. I just wanted to know how much. After he retired to the van to consult with his boss, he came back with an estimate of $970! That was parts and labor (two people at a total of $180 an hour). My calculator says that $180 x 4= 720. $970-$720=$250 for around 20 feet of PVC and a few couplings. Retail on that is around $40. Now, the labor charge of $180 per hour is stratospheric to begin with, but then to tack on a couple hundred dollars for parts. Wow.
I said thanks but not thanks, paid them $35 for the call--a bargain if you know how to use the word no, and hightailed it to Harbor Freight. There I bought a big ass pipe wrench (24 inch baby) for around $13. I came back, got the vertical drain pipe off. Then I used a hand snake I had around to get to the clog--I watched a great and disgusting YouTube video on how to use it. Well worth the 15 minutes. After seemingly breaking through some minor clog, I pulled the snake back out, cleaned the threads of the pipe and the coupling, used Teflon tape to seal the deal and joined them back together. I stuck the drain hose back in and started a load. Long story short: success! Around 90 minutes, $30 if you count the hand snake I had lying around, and that was that. My savings, $940. Now, if they had said $500, I would have gone for it. $970 was outrageous. It seemed to me that the business model here is to offer the most expensive solution possible hoping for some sucker to say yes. It's worth the $35 risk for them to do that, especially when they charge $180 for labor. This one's an easy call. Go elsewhere!

I had a weekend/holiday plumbing service performed. It was expensive as you would expect, but the on-call plumber was very friendly and gave me some things to try on the phone that could help prevent them from coming out at all. I would use 1st plumbing again, in an emergency or not.  Great service.

When we had a leak in our downstairs bathroom last month, I searched around and researched several different plumbing companies.  A friend of mine recommended 1st Plumbing, and I'm so glad that they did.  The company was affordably priced, the technician showed up on time, and they resolved my issues in under an hour.  My experience with plumbing companies in the past has been less than stellar, but I now know that I have a GREAT plumbing company that I can rely on to treat me right!  I will definitely be referring my family and friends to them!

I cannot thank the entire team at 1st Home and Commercial Services enough.  My A/C died in Austin, TX while I was traveling for work.  They were able to send a technician to my home within 24 hours.  Wyatt called me right after diagnosing that my A/C was not working and walked me through all of my options for a new unit.  We then called the office to get more information and Missy transferred us to Tim, who proceeded to explain every seer that was available for my home size and how each would work for my home.  He also explained to us that his office would fill out all of the paperwork for the rebate with Austin energy, and the warranty through the company is nothing short of amazing!!  They were able to schedule Tyler and his crew to come install my new A/C the very next day.  This whole experience was nothing short of amazing, especially as I was out of town for work.  This is my second time using this company and all I can say is they are nothing short of amazing!!  Thank you to the entire team!!

Had a toilet back up and called for service at my commercial property on 10/23/2018.  Was given the option of having a camera run through the line and have high pressure water run through to unblock the clog for a cost of $800+.  Opted to just have the line looked at with the camera for $265 and was told there was no blockage.  Was told my sewer line was sagging and about 30 feet would need to be replaced.  Was told I would receive a quote.  That was on 10/23/18.  As of today 12/21/18 I have not heard back!  Called I my November and was told there was a hold up on getting the quote due to city permitting and having power lines marked.  Again no follow up.  Thankfully I have not had any more problems with my sewer line so now I'm wondering if there was ever a problem to begin with.  Guess I'll never know because this company did not follow up.  Probably wouldn't use them at this point given the lack of attention to this matter.  On a side note I have used them twice in the past for commercial plumbing services with excellent service, not sure what happened this time?  Someone dropped the ball I guess.

Great experience with 1st Plumbing Services.  We had a late-night plumbing disaster and they talked us through how to get things under control until morning so we could avoid an after hours service call.  They had a plumber out first thing the next morning who was prompt, courteous, and competent.  He explained everything before he did it, did exactly what he said, and the final bill was what he quoted us before he began.  We'll definitely call 1st Plumbing the next time we need a plumber.  Excellent service.

David was great! We woke up this morning after two freezing cold days to no water. For some reason, we thought we needed an electrician due to some recent trips with our breaker panel. David came out and went through all the possibilities, and found nothing. Then, David went above and beyond...and then some! He told us he thought our pipes were frozen, checked our faucets, asked questions, went outside to our water meter, checked outside faucets, everything. Did I mention he's an electrician?! David called one of their master plumbers still trying to solve the issue for us, and the master plumber was able to give some pointers. Within 30 minutes of being in our home, David not only confirmed that our electrical setup is just fine (relief), but he also helped to fix our frozen pipes! Unreal. He educated us on what to look for in terms of leaks, and how to prevent this from happening again. Thank you, David for helping two clueless homeowners! We are now customers of 1st Home for life.

Lance from 1st Plumbing came out to repair an emergency puncture in our main water line late in the evening and at the last minute. He was extremely helpful, knowledgable, and professional and definitely bent over backwards late at night to get our water back to where it needed to be. He even recommended a water restoration company that came out within minutes to start the salvage process from the water leak. 1st plumbing and Lance Griffith we're great. I'd hire them again in a second.

Extremely expensive for sure!  $45 trip charge (twice) and $135/hr to re-do, rough in plumbing in half bath and install modern toilet and faucet - total cost $1400 and they scratched up my marble floor when installing the toilet

These guys are just the best. We have hired them repeatedly over the years, and each time they treat us wonderfully and do a top-notch job at a competitive price. Plus, they're just nice people to work with. We've had them replace the sewer lines at two houses, and miscellaneous other plumbing work, and each time they've done great.

I had a problem with my hot water heater.  I called First Plumbing Services at 8:00 AM.  They said they would send someone out right away.  Casey, with a helper, was at my door within 30 minutes.  Casey took a look at the water heater, told me about the charges - and with my approval started to work on what looked like a very difficult and complicated job.  He repaired the problem, re-worked some things that had been installed wrongly previously - and was finished in just under an hour.  I felt the charges were fair and reasonable.  Casey and his helper were courteous and professional.  First Plumbing Services, and Casey, will be my only call for plumbing services in the future.

I had a water heater, dead center of my house, that decided it was time to go and flooded my bedroom and bathroom. (Third  %#@*^%#  time it's happened, clearly I'm a slow learner). After several calls to other plumbers, none of whom could help me until the following week, David and Jeremy with 1st Plumbing came out and installed my new water heater. (And pan, by god. I'm getting smarter.) Disney must have trained these guys, they could not possibly have been nicer and more considerate. This blew me away - they would go out to the yard for some reason, and to keep our carpets clean they put little slipcovers on over their shoes when they came back in! All of which is nice, but none of which would matter if they didn't know what they were doing. But David knew exactly what he was doing and they knocked the job out in record time, and they came in under the estimate. 1st Plumbing is my new go-to plumber, and I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

The tech told me what was wrong & didn't even look at th hot water heater & told me it was a $260 fix.  I went downstairs to get my phone to call my husband & found the tech had opened my bedroom door and was looking in it. He hadn't heard me come back upstairs. When confronted, he admitted & said he was being nosey. He was asked 3 times to leave before finally getting him out of here. The company owner & this tech are best friends so our complaint call was met with little concern. There will be no repercussions for this man's privacy violation.  Stay clear, folks! Find another plumber, any plumber.

We've needed the help of a plumber three times in the past year, and the guys at 1st Plumbing have rocked each time. Quick response time, really reasonable rates, pleasant and professional staff. One of our jobs was a monster -- a mystery leak somewhere in the yard or in the slab. It could have cost us thousands of dollars, but the guys at 1st Plumbing used some logic to think it through and found the leak without having to dig up our whole yard. They're our first and only call for plumbing from now on.

1st Plumbing Service was great! We have had poor experiences in the past with other plumbers. Many Austin plumbing companies won't even come out to service in Dripping Springs, or put you as a very low priority. Thankfully that was not my experience with 1st Plumbing Service. I called after hours on Thursday and talked through my emergency situation with Casey. I sent him a photo of my leaking faucet from a frozen pipe. He told me what to do in the mean time and promised someone would call me in the morning to schedule an exact service appointment . He was able to get the parts I needed based off my photo. First thing in the morning I got a call to schedule an afternoon appointment. Chris T was my plumber. He was on time, assessed the situation, discussed rates and worked quickly to fix my faucet. He stayed to verify everything was fixed and that I had adequate water pressure return from my well. He was professional and gave me some great tips to avoid future plumbing issues. I would recommend him with confidence to my friends and neighbors.

I had an extreme emergency when I came home from work Thursday.  I had nowhere to turn.  I got on the nextdoor appt to find a local plumber. 1st ac and plumbing came highly recommended, so i crossed my fingers and called.  Luckily, they had on call people  who were close by. Within 1/2 hour the plumber came, he checked everything.   It was an ac problem, so he called the ac on call guy, who came within 1/2 hour of that.  Everything was figured out, and presented to me with a fair price for the evening.  I took the night to consider how I wanted to proceed with repairs. Calls and texts were returned quickly and obscure questions answered respectfully.  I felt like they didnt give up on me and our problem, that we would be in good hands.  Ac arrived on time and worked all day until matter resolved.  Great job from John, Junior and Ryan.  I am definitely adding this company to my cell phone contacts. Thanks 1st plumbing.

I have, unfortunately, needed to call 1st Plumbing Services too many times this past year fpr both my home and my business. I have an older house and it has some problems. Every time I have an issue, whether it's something simple or something extremely complex, I feel it is handled quickly, at a fair price and with professionalism. David responds to messages in a very timely manner, under commits and over delivers. I am very confident that when I have a leaky sink or a flash flood in my hallway---it's going to be okay. I grab my phone and call 1st Plumbing Services and it's just taken care of.  I think the prices aren't the cheapest but I also know they are far from the most expensive. I am okay with paying a little extra than the lowest possible price because I know the problem is going to be handled correctly every time. Thank you David for being so helpful and making my life easier when unexpected and stressful plumbing issues arise.

Be careful of this company. When I had a leak in the water line near the water meter on Sunday, June 19, I needed a plumber quickly.  My usual go-to plumber wasn't available, so we found these guys on Google. This is a rental house, and my tenant is without water.  They told me they could get a guy out there to fix it.  In a couple of hours, they called with an estimate, but immediately told me that since the leak was under the sidewalk, they would have to get a special permit on Monday to repair things in the city right of way easement. They promised action by 8:30 Monday.  Monday at 9:30 I called to see what was going on, and they put me off, saying everyone was in a meeting.  At 10:30, they called and said they did not have the necessary permits to do the work, and referred me to another company.  So my tenant spent a day without water because they weren't honest enough to tell me straight away that they weren't qualified to do the repair.  I don't know if they will still charge me $150 for the service call.  They had better not.

My dishwasher was leaking from the front door and I called 1st plumbing to ask if they could make sure it wasn't a clogged pipe or something.  It was a Saturday and Justin came within 45 minutes.  It wasn't a clogged pipe but the gasket on the front door of the dishwasher had eroded.  He charged me the $100 for coming on a Saturday, which I had been told in advance, and even though he worked for about 30 minutes there was no additional charge.  I will be calling 1st Plumbing for all my plumbing needs in the future.  Fast, courteous, transparent with regard to fees, and a very professional person in Justin.

I overtightened the water shut-off valve under the bathroom sink, cracked the PVC pipe and needed the pipe repaired.  I had already removed the tile, so this involved cutting 1 piece of PVC pipe, adding a new section and the new valve.  Called this company and explained what was needed.  They indicated a $45 diagnostic/ trip fee that would be applied to the cost of the repair.  Okay.  Plumber arrived in the scheduled window.  Looks at the pipe, indicates it will take about 30 minutes to fix...then pulls out a binder, flips to a page and indicates that he is supposed to charge me $480 (b/c he will need to pull off 1 more 4tile), but that he will cut me a break and will charge $287.  I confirmed that we were talking about 30 minutes of work and less than $2 in parts, which he agreed.  So, the hourly rate for this plumbing company is north of $560???  He stated that everything is done on a flat rate, no matter the amount of work that is required.  They do not disclose this over the phone.  They do have a contractor rate of $135/hr, but you then have to pay an additional $45 for the trip (so $180 for the 1st hour).  In my experience, an average experienced plumber is about $75/hr.  This company charges more for labor than a surgeon.  Needless to say, I sent him on his way and fixed the problem myself for a couple of bucks.  Company gets two stars b/c the plumbing tech waived the trip fee when he saw how irritated I was.  He seemed embarrassed at the cost and should have been.

Called these guys because I needed quick service and they were located south. Stephen was in the area and came over immediately! Had me fixed up within the hour. Licensed, bonded and a one year guarantee for a fair price. I'd definitely call again for any plumbing work.

Stephen at 1st Plumbing Services did the plumbing on our bath remodel. They moved a commode across the room which involved jack hammering some of the floor, moved and installed the shower drain and valves as well as the vanity valves and drain. It was all done flawlessly and he was able to come everytime we were ready for him. He just installed a new water heater as well. I highly recommend 1st Plumbing Services!

I live in a condo community. I have an interior wall shower leak that has caused damage to my downstairs neighbor's ceiling. I called 1st Plumbing Services and they were able to schedule an appt. right away at my convenience. They were able to give me an estimate and emailed it to me the next day. Casey is the gentleman who came to assess the shower leak. He was so polite and professional. I am having them do the repair work in the next week and I will follow up on Yelp once the work is completed. Thus far, I am very pleased with this company.

I hate plumbing.. absolutely hate it... Today, David Delgado came out and fixed my sink. He was courteous, quite and quick. I started asking him how much he would charge to also fix my leaky kitchen sink and he did it right on the spot at no extra charge. He also dug out some tiny piece of something foreign that was making my garbage disposal make frightening sounds.... Again, no extra charge... I will call 1st Plumbing again.. Thank you, David... You were fantastic.

This is the second time I've used these guys, and I couldn't be happier. They do a great job explaining what needs to be done and what the challenges/benefits are, and they totally hooked us up, helping us get done what needed to get done without breaking the bank. Great service, very helpful and friendly.

So, this past Friday night, at around 7pm, we discovered water everywhere under our kitchen sink, cabinet, floor...not knowing what the hell was causing the leak, we went into panic mode, got on yelp and found 1st Plumbing Services...it got great reviews, so i decided to call since it was a 24 hour service.  The representative took down my name and number and told me a tech will call me back...i was a little skeptical, but thought, there was nothing more we could  do. I wanted to go ahead and call someone that night, in hopes someone could come out the next day (Saturday) or if not Saturday, first thing on Monday.  Well within an hour, Stephen called me back to tell me he could come to my house the next day around noon.  Great, done!  Next morning around 9am, Stephen called and told me his morning appointment called to cancel and that he could come over right away...he was there in less than 5 minutes!  It pays to live in South Austin.   He walks into the kitchen, looks at the faucet and immediately knows what was wrong, without touching anything... he tells us the nozzle on the faucet needed tightening...duh, why the hell didn't we figure that out?  I felt so embarrased to have to call a professional for something so little and stupid, that we could have fixed ourselves.  He reassured us not to feel bad, that he gets those type of calls all the time.  He explained to us how the water leaked under the cabinet and showed us how to tighten the nozzle in case it does it again in the future and what to expect.  He looked underneith the sink, in the cabinet to make sure there was nothing else wrong and then was finished.  It took all of MAYBE 5 minutes...He was so nice and I don't think he was going to charge us anything, but I told him we had to pay him something for making the trip over here...he finally said just to pay him the small service call fee (very small fee by the way)...Stephen was great, nice, accommodating and didn't make us feel like complete morons by calling for such a small problem.  I will definitely be using them next time for any plumbing issues and will be referring them to family and friends.
