You know that moment you realize you are officially old? For me, it was this past Christmas morning, when I opened my gifts and was elated to receive ceiling fans, light fixtures, and even a snazzy fandelier (Google it! So cute and fun!). But now I had all the fixtures of my dreams and approximately zero talent with which to install them. Though our DIY skills have improved with the pandemic, I didn't want to mess with electric, and certainly not in our 50 year old home. A friend highly recommended Aardvark, so I called to get a quote.

I presume it was the owner I talked to as he spoke of sending out his crew and man, this guy should have been in sales/public relations/some sort of public speaking job - he put me IMMEDIATELY at ease about what I was asking for, explained exactly what his crew would be doing, how long it would take, what I could expect when they were done, etc. He never once made me feel stupid about knowing zero about electric, and he was honest and straightforward in his explanation of pricing. I immediately booked them to come out a week later!

Of course Covid happens to be surging right now as they came to our home so I was delighted with how incredibly respectful the crew was in regard to distancing and mask wearing. They were polite, kind, fast, thorough, and so clean. They installed 4 ceiling fans and three light fixtures in a matter of hours and I managed to work from home the entire time without any interruption. They explained to me why they had to cut a hole in the ceiling for one of the fixtures (again, 50 year old house) but otherwise, you would never know they were here.

I'm already dreaming up new reasons for them to come back - all of the things I've been wanting to fix or change. And since they charge a flat hourly rate, I know exactly what to expect when they return. It is SO hard to find great, reliable, affordable companies like Aardvark. I'm so glad to have had them recommended to us!

6 Weeks - No Quote

My initial experience with Current Electric was good. I submitted an inquiry via their website and quickly received a call. I was able to schedule an at-home appointment for the following week in order to review the work required to provide a quote. This appointment took place on May 4th.

The technician was both professional and knowledgeable. He offered helpful suggestions and I had a good impression of their services.

This is where the experience completely deteriorated. It has now been over a month and a half since the technician came to my home.

I have called multiple times requesting an update on my quote. Each time I have been given an apology and a promise to receive a quote by a specific date. Those dates have now come and gone four different times.

As of today, nearly 7 weeks since my technician visit, I still have not received a quote.

Based on the other reviews, my experience seems to be unique; however, I have given them multiple opportunities to provide the promised quote.

At this point, I can only conclude that EV charger installations are not a priority for their company.

Excellent service. While replacing my HVAC system the tech realized my circuit breaker box had a small fire.  Some of the breakers were melted and I was facing a potentially hazardous situation. It was after 5:30 on a Monday night. I called many electricians, none would come out after hours. When I reached out to Kent he said he could come by later that evening and asked for my address. I sent him the address and a photo of the burned box. He immediately responded.  Recognizing the seriousness of the problem he said he would repair the box that evening. Kent could have easily charged me a lot of money for a late night, emergency call.  He did not. His fees were reasonable and the work was outstanding. Highly recommend this company. You will be satisfied.

These guys went above and beyond. I bought a new unit in my building and there were a few items I'd planned (fixture changes, sconces, outlet tests) and a few I didn't (2 broken breakers, and a few other complications). Jose was professional, polite, and very helpful. I knew just enough electrical to get part way on some of the projects then got stuck. He made above and beyond trips for parts on short notice and was very easy to work with, both him and his assistance for the heavy lifting. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again, and in case you need them to be insured for your homeowners association, they quickly provided this as well.

Quick service and installation of a tricky light fixture! Took two hours for a new chandelier, but that was with needing to do a little re-wiring. Professional and easy to work with!

Thank you to Lukasz and Maggie for your quick response to the problem we were having with non-working outlets in our master bedroom. Lukasz squeezed us into his day, assessed the problem quickly, and had it fixed in no time. And for a very fair price. It was very kind of you to come right out knowing that a family member is ill and housebound in that room. We will be calling to have other projects done in the near future, and recommend that others call this company if electrical work is needed.

Call Eugene cause I had partial outage at the house ,told me is was gonna be at the house the next day,sure enough he was at the house on time , fixed my problem under a hour .Eugene call the next day to make sure everything was working fine , Thank you Eugene you the best.

He replaced a light fixture in our bedroom,it was an older electrical setup,he was able to figure it out and installed a new fixture.This is the second time I've used him and will be calling him again,I highly recommend him.

I am amazed that I am the first person to review this company. Any one who owns property knows how wonderful (and difficult) it is to find a professional, reliable, funny, and super friendly electrician/plumber/contractor/handyman. Well, with Ed, I found The One. He's just fantastic in every way. I recently hired him to repair the doorbells at my two-flat and, as always, he was reasonably priced and available that day. I've used Ed before for some minor electrical work, and this time was no different. He quickly diagnoses the problem, gets it fixed, he's a pleasure to chat with (he has that dry sense of humor that I love), and his prices are very fair (I never feel jipped when he leaves...in fact, I typically think that's it?). I highly recommend Ed for all of your electrical needs. You will be extremely pleased with his services and your wallet won't be empty:-)

I needed a ceiling fan installed after a failed attempt to do so on my own. Contacted AM&L in the morning and they were able to come the same day for install. They were quick, professional and I was very impressed with their knowledge too. I'll be using them for future electrical needs

As I type this review, a crew from Alternating Currents is in the middle of a big job on my 1947-built brick ranch with plaster walls. They're updating our panel from 100 amp service to 200 (w/power surge protection), adding a dozen or so much-needed outlets throughout the house, putting ceiling lights in our living room, installing a new fancy exhaust fan with heater in a chilly basement bathroom, and creating the necessary additional circuits to distribute the power accordingly. Today is Day Three of this endeavor. The crew is taking great care to keep the cuts and dust to a minimum, but it's a messy project. The crew leaders have been listening and responding to our needs, advising us every step of the way. They're notifying us and getting approval before making any cuts into the walls and ceilings. While we've taken steps to move many belongings out to the garage, they are deftly working around our stuff. And they've been very patient with our overly-curious and somewhat protective mutt. Since the job is still in progress, I'll follow up with additional info. at later date.

Five stars to North Shore Electric for integrity and good customer service! I recently purchased a ceiling fan for my home, expecting a contractor to install the fan. Unfortunately, the member of the contractors' staff who was supposed install the fan had a family emergency so was unable to do the job. Then, I spotted a North Shore Electric truck at a neighbor's house. I asked the electrician if he could install the fan. He quickly came over and worked diligently to install the fan. Unfortunately, after several attempts -- and quite a bit of effort on electrician's part -- it became apparent that a wiring issue in my nearly 100-year-old home made it impossible for the fan to function properly. The electrician, who was hard-working, neat and courteous, and helped me identify some possible approaches to rewire the house - but didn't charge me for the failed attempt at installation. I would definitely call North Shore Electric for help on a future project and happily pay them for successful work. I recommend North Shore Electric.

Goran arrived on time, identified and addressed the issue while on site, and had the best rates of anyone we found in our service area. Two thumbs up!
