Of course the AC breaks when my husband is not here! Mrs. Dodd was so helpful when I called. She walked me through some things on the phone just to make sure it wasn't a breaker or something simple. Mr. Dodd arrived on time, prepared and very knowledgeable. He had exactly what we needed. Very fair and accommodating on a hot Saturday. Exactly the personal service I was looking for from a small business. We will use them again and I highly recommend.

I asked on my neighborhood Facebook page for references for ac repairman. I was actually given a different guy's name and he ended up sending me Kelvin with Rivera's Home Improvement! After meeting and doing business with Kelvin, I know it was divine intervention, because he was a God send! I ended up needing a new unit outside. Which could have been stressful to even think about due to expenses, but Kelvin is as honest as they come and doing business with him was a true blessing to me and my family. I now have a new unit, 2 days later. He showed up first thing in the morning just like he promised and my home is currently cooling in the low 70's and I now have a new 10 year warranty on my unit! I will never call anyone else about ac/heating ever again! I can't praise him or his company enough! No stress involved! I highly recommend him for your ac/heating work! You'll be glad you did

Came out the same day I called to have electric outlet moved for new stove. I was not expecting that, so pleasantly surprised. Ran into a little bit of an issue once job started, but was resolved quickly and professionally. Very reasonable rates. Will use them again in the future!

The service I received was absolutely amazing. I was originally referred by my home warranty company, and the problem turned out to be something not covered. They worked hard to keep my costs down, and the work was outstanding. They explained things every step of the way to me, came on a Saturday to make sure my problem was fixed as soon as possible and stayed to test out the work. I had drainage issues with the bathroom, at the same time the washing machine was leaking, I called Richardson Plumbing and was advised to call the City of Norfolk first. If the issue is not resolved to call him back. I did and the City confirmed a stoppage in the sewer line and is handling the issue. I appreciate the advice and honesty. They could have told me that in person and charged a service fee. I will definitely be using them for future needs.

We are military and, as most know, moving and finding professional and quality help can take time and connections, which is hard when you move from place to place and have to rely on recommendations online...and I can easily recommend this company. I called Cecilia's Home Repairs at 8:30am and by 9am Anthony was at my door to help me with my issue. When I called Cecilia's my call was answered quickly and I was given an accurate quote over the phone for the work I requested. I had spilled some pop and it seeped into the area around my kitchen island and an ant family had found it. I needed my dishwasher pulled out and trim replaced (I ripped it off and I had no clue how to put it back). Anthony skillfully pulled the dishwasher out and worked on cleaning and prepping the trim for reinstallation. On the phone I told the man that I have allergies and cannot tolerate strong odors and he said I could use my own products to kill and repel the ants. Anthony patiently waited for me to spray, vacuum, and lay down a barrier for the ants behind the dishwasher. He helped me by giving me light to the area I was working in. Afterwards he placed the dishwasher back, started it for me and put the trim back to look good as new. I couldn't believe the quality of work that was done in under an hour and for such a good price! I am not someone who can DIY and I will definitely be calling and requesting Anthony to come back out when we inevitably have something else that needs fixing in our house :) Thank you, Anthony and Cecilia's!

We were in desperate need of getting our heater fixed - of course it went out the last cold weekend we had for the season! Our system is only 3 years old and still under manufacturer warranty. The technician showed up in a timely manner and was nice; told us that the problem was the ignitor. Charged us $400+ and signed us up for a recurring monthly membership. He replaced the ignitor with an after-market part, which turns out didn't fix the heater. Then he says the gas valve needs to be replaced, but it's under warranty and he doesn't have the part - so we're still without a working heater, and BTW we still have to pay for everything he did even though it was misdiagnosed. He also told us a lot of other things we were wrong with our system and we needed close to another $1000 of work done.
We never received an itemized invoice of what was done and what we were changed for. We got a second opinion which told us nothing was wrong with the ignitor (nor the rest of the system), the gas valve did need to be replaced and is readily available to do so under warranty. We called American Mechanical back for an ITEMIZED invoice, to cancel the membership and to work out what needs to be done about the service done at our place - putting back the original part as to not void the warranty.
They were not sympathetic, they brushed us off claiming doctors have different diagnoses too, etc. and will have a manager be in touch with us. It's over a week later and we do not have a reply. We have tried calling back almost daily without reply.
To put a cherry on top, they charged our card ANOTHER monthly membership fee within the same week. I'm now approaching this via our credit card company because we can't get a response. Terrible to think you can't get decent customer service from a local business. Also, as a doctor myself, having different diagnoses doesn't work like that. If you completely misdiagnose something and treat it incorrectly, you are liable for malpractice.

I really couldn't afford what they quoted (and I know I could have very well have gotten more estimates but who has the time) but since my shower fixtures and parts were outdated it was recommended to upgrade to the next best brand. I guess the local place they use for parts don't stock the less expensive stuff. So of course I got upsold but he was able to come down on the price. Ok, fine. I needed cold water and pressure to my shower desperately. I personally would have been just as happy with a repair of my unit and waited to the new year. But I must say, tonight I've had the best shower I've had in years. Expensive as HELL but great work and service nonetheless. I know now to do a bit more research but I'm so happy to have a properly working shower.
