I would have welcomed the opportunity to work with Michael & Sons however their approach to pricing is indicative of an organization that's simply not prepared to be competitive. I absolutely understand that Final Pricing cannot be provided prior to an onsite assessment, but they were asked to replace an Electric Socket & Ceiling fan... That's It. We were informed that they did not possess the ability to provide an average cost for these services and must charge a Dispatch Fee in order to move forward. Again, I would have welcomed the opportunity to work with this company had they been prepared to compete.

I had an issue with my shower and I knew what was wrong. Besides showing up an hour and half after the appointment time he tried to convince me it was something else. It ended up being the diverter like I said. After all this at around 9:30pm he realized he didn't have a part and had to call around and no one else had it. I took off work two hours early for this and I am HIGHLY disappointed

My husband is a real estate investor. The technician was supposed to meet at a prospective property to provide an estimate to replace an A/C unit that had been vandalized. The technician called me the morning of our appointment to let me know that he couldn't provide an estimate because we aren't the owners of the home. If it's against their policy to provide estimates unless you own the home, they should ask if you own the home when you book an  appointment. Since when do contractors not provide estimates for house flippers anyway? HVAC function is checked BEFORE you close on a house!

Not sure of the bad reviews here.  I had a/c issue, called 5 places, Michael and Sons was not the least expensive (comparable), but had best availability.   Currie, the technician that came on site was above and beyond.  Prompt, efficient, and friendly.  I asked questions all along the way and realized my YouTube knowledge is nowhere near the caliber of a professional.  Professional, that is the best way to describe my service today.  I will be calling Michael and Sons for replacement of my heat exchanger which is on the horizon.

Had a new HVAC unit installed at my home.  Submitted a request for a quote via their internet site and received a call the same day.  Sales person scheduled a visit to my home and arrived in a timely manner. Pricing including installation was very reasonable.  I was able to schedule an install date within a week.

Installation crew called approx 30 minutes ahead and arrived on time.  Total installation time was approx 4 hours.  Job was well done, technicians were polite and professional.  I'm a little OCD so there area couple little things I'd have like to have done on the install a bit neater but overall Michael and Son provided a good experience.  I would definitely consider them again and would recommend requesting a quote for others.

Update-- Spoke with Maurice and he made it right and was awesome to work with. The install team was awesome! Calvin and Roland where very professional and very neat! Great duo together. They did a great job on the install! I would defn give them another opportunity as they have made this right.

This is a very poorly run company from what I have experienced! I went to them as they seemed to be a very reputable company for a water heater install. They sent a salesman out to my house and there prices were very high compared to other vendors in the industry. I was told when the salesman was at my house he could give me a $100 coupon to provide $100 off. I told him I would need to think about this. The salesman followed up after a few days and I let him know their prices were too high and he said he would like to see what he could do and call me back if that was okay. He then called back and said he would give another $100 off so I agreed to the purchase. When he came to sign the contract he was trying to sell me a $1900 order when it should of been $1774- $200. His excuse was I needed a 50 gallon water tank and I said no I need a 40 gallon and he said okay the price is $1700 with the discount. Well he originally quoted me $1774 and minus the $200 it should of been $1554. Well he didn't even want to discuss that he kept telling me it was $1700 and I got a great deal. I needed the water heater so I agreed and I did not have the paper where his prices written down on hand. The salesman scheduled the install for that Thursday from 12-4pm and I got a call to confirm and I took the afternoon off of work for this install and by 3:30pm no one had showed up to install the water heater. I called Michael and sons and they said I have an open ticket and installers would be coming. I then called the salesman and he said he would check on it. He never called me back. By 4:30 still no one. So I called again and I spoke to Sam the manager and he said the installers were packing and would be to my home shortly. By 5:15pm they arrived. Never did this company call me to say they were running late or anything. I had to continuous call them to find out status. I get that workers get stuck on other jobs but a simple call would of been nice. The installers were amazing and very professional! They pretty much saved the bad first impression I got of this company! They were unable to get the old water heater down and needed additional tools and scheduled me a follow up appointment for the following Tuesday from 4-8pm. Tuesday gets here and it is 8:15 and guess what....they are a no show and no call again. I sat here for 4 hours just waiting and nothing. So I called and got this nice man Isiah who was helpful and apologetic. He said he spoke to the supervisor who said the called and left a message. I let him know that was a lie and no one called me nor left a message on my phone. My biggest concern is communicate with your customers. Isiah rescheduled me for Wednesday at 4pm and I just spoke to the installer who said he is on his way. A new customer to this company and the only positive I have had is the install team.

I am extremely impressed with the techs who replaced my old gas furnace and central air with a new system.  They gave me the best estimate and a bigger better top rated system for less than the other companies that gave me quotes.  Russ,Tom, Marcale and Najen were all very professional, thorough and did a fantastic job.  I even received 36 mos. 0% financing, which was a great help.  This company installed a new system in my mother's house and did a great job two years ago.  I am glad I decided to hire them for my home..  I will definitely use them again.

I called Michael & Son for a plumbing concern.  I knew their rates were higher than some other plumbers, but I needed a second opinion.  Trevor showed up and I wend over my concerns.  He evaluated the situation and found my problem in minutes.  Needless to say, the issue was quickly resolved and I realized my first plumbing company was indeed exaggerating my needs in order to bump up the fee.  For now on, I will just call Michael & Son first.  I should have known better !!

One thing you can't do when you're driving in a van that says Michael and Sons on the side is drive recklessly and become verbally abusive. Today while driving in a school zone the lights were flashing 25mph and a M&S truck flew by all other traffic. As I approached the next intersection he was at the stoplight and I politely said the school zone light was flashing back there..  He screamed at the top of his lungs F$$K YOU!!  It would be troubling if this man was in his own personal vehicle but to act that way knowing what he was driving you'd have to be insane to invite anyone from this company into your home for any reason.

We had a serious plumbing issue that had gone on for a month.  The first two plumbers (each from different companies) weren't able to diagnose the problem, quoted us for services that didn't need to happen, and didn't follow up.  This is how I can across Michael & Sons.  We needed our plumbing issue resolved ASAP.  I called late Wed and a plumber was sent early Thursday.  Tom was awesome.  He took the time to figure out what was going on, explained what he was doing and walked me through fixing our problem.  At no point did I feel like I was being taken advantage of or over charged.  Tom was able to fix our issue before noon and at a cheaper price than what the other plumbers had quoted me.  If you are someone who doesn't know a lot about plumbing and wants someone to explain to you what they are doing and why, I highly recommend Tom!

Over charged and gouged by this company. Charged me almost $400. for $2.00 worth of material and 20 minutes worth of work. I would never call them for anything. What they fixed I could have done it myself. They should be ashamed for what they did to a senior citizen.

We had our AC start blowing hot air ,they came out claimed they fixed it the next day it started doing the same thing they came back out said they fixed it again; three weeks later it went out again called customer service to have somebody come out and they said that their work is not under warranty and we would have to pay for a whole another service call and for them to come out to repair the same thing that they supposedly did two other times. When we had our electricity go out in Virginia power came out and we ask for recommendations on electrical work they said do not trust them they have heard horrible stories from people that have dealt with them

Let me start by saying I am shopping for an electrical contractor.  I am currently seeking estimates from licensed and insured companies.  I called the 800 number was greeted by a pleasant receptionist who asked me what my needs were.  I proceeded to describe the job and then she told me that they would be happy to send out a tech for an estimate......at the cost of $60.  To be fair she did say they would wave the estimate fee if I choose to use them.  I will not be using this company, if you want my business I should not have to pay you to give me a price. Your best price should be given freely, and I should be able to choose the contractor of my choice, based on impressions and cost fairness, not because you strong armed $60 from me upfront. 2/26/19 11:23am

I had an excellent experience with Michael and Son today.  The technician, Dustin, was very polite, knowledgeable and professional.  He explained everything to me as the job was being performed.  He was punctual and neat about his work.

I highly recommend the company.  They stand behind everything they say.

I've had two positive experiences with this company.  Both times they have a very fast response time - you can easily get someone on the phone or request a callback and I have never waited more than a few minutes.  Appointments are usually within the week of request.

Both individuals who have come to our home have put a mat at the front door, cleaned their feet and put slippers over the shoes.  Both have cleaned up if they knocked any dust onto the floors and have been very polite from start to finish.

The first issue was with one of our dual home heating/cooling elements and we called to have it looked at when we noticed our upstairs servicing unit was not working properly.  M&S sent someone over within a few days who assessed the situation and quickly was able to tell us what we needed to do - agreed upon service and repairs were scheduled for a few days out and completed without incident.  We were provided a nice folder full of information and warranty items to keep.

The second visit was this year when I simply asked for a $59 routine check and maint. of my HVAC system.  Again, the tech was prompt, friendly and very neat and tidy.  He performed the work, reported no issues, and suggested a minor elective maint. thing I could consider doing in the future for about $89.  

So far so good with M&S for me.  They're who I will continue to use for HVAC service and needs.

Dear Sir/Ma'am, I would like to take this opportunity to commend one of your Finest Sons, Plumber, Frank Casey Tulip. What a wonderful gentlemen & talented plumber. He took the time to explain what he was going to do to fix my leaking laundry room (2nd floor) and water damage investigation (1st floor) ceiling. Frank truly took away the anxiety I was having over this water leakage issue. He was very polite and respectful to my husband and family. Mr. Tulip was very knowledgeable and very experienced during his explanations and repairs. He made me feel like my water emergency was HIS EMERGENCY and soon everything would be just fine. I appreciate that type of person and commend his customer service. Mr. Frank Casey Tulip should be recognized and appreciated for his wonderful demeanor and excellent plumbing skills. Marcus and Randy are ROCK STARS!!!  Courteous, professional and hard working!!  Each day they arrived at the house in a clean uniform, ready to work AND they wore the booties in the house!

I had a complete HVAC ducting tear out and install to include the replacement of the grills in the house.  These guys worked their butts off in a hot, cramped, dusty, small, itchy, claustrophobia attack inducing attic for 6 days.  My hats off to you two!  Any work that was done in the house had a drop cloth down and an immediate clean up before moving to the next work area.  Parts of the ducting had to remain in place because the house was built around it...in these areas, Marcus made sure the ducts were clean and spotless before installing the new grills.

Marcus and Randy kept us informed of the progress each day.   Because of the cramped conditions the job took longer than estimated.  BUT, as soon as they realized the complete scope of the job, they were sure we understood that it would take longer and explained in detail the reasons why.

There was a few chilly nights without heat, but that was expected.  Before Marcus and Randy knocked-off, they made sure to cap off the ducts and put some heat into the house.  Thanks guys!!

When they left for the night they made sure the garage was clean and picked up.  You couldn't tell they were here...except for the M&S floor mat. ;)  

The attention that Marcus and Randy paid to my requests for placement of the new ducting and returns was spot on.  They even took the time to ensure my complete HVAC system was functioning properly with the new thermostat I had purchased.

Overall, Michael and Son met my expectations and I feel the price was fair (expensive...but fair).   Marcus and Randy exceeded my expectations and set a new standard for anybody else that comes into my home to make repairs.

I don't often leave reviews, and it's even rarer for me to take the time to leave a positive review, but I have had a great experience with Michael and Son. As an out-of-town landlord I appreciate that they always have prompt service, usually within 24 hours which makes my tenants happy. I once had a home warranty and it was awful. It would take 2 weeks to get someone out. I would rather just pay and have good service. I can't really speak for the price as I am more concerned with having a good job done than the cheapest price. And they do a good job.

Horrible customer service.  My wife called this past Saturday 11/9/19 because our heat was out and we wanted a quote for a whole new system with the options to buy outright or lease.  Guy on phone said a tech would arrive between 2 and 6pm the next day and we would receive a call when he was on the way.  At first we were really excited because we have been needing a new system for years.  Needless to say, 2pm-6pm on Sunday came and went.  Not a phone call that someone was busy, or they couldn't come or even an offer to reschedule.  it wasn't until she called them back at 630pm that they told her the tech couldn't make it and we could reschedule for tomorrow.  I think not.  I took off work that day to be there during their specific time slot and didn't get any kind of notice from them.  what kind of customer service is this anyway? I don't care how busy you are, you can at least pick up the phone and call. My time is just as valuable as anyone else's. You have people that not only need help but at the same time are willing to spend thousands of dollars with your company to get something new and i don't even get a phone call?  If this was any inkling of how they do business i guess i am glad it didn't work out.  I am obviously not the only person that has been affected by their poor service/no shows.  If i would have looked at yelp first i would have gone a different direction rather than waste my time.  lesson learned, thanks for nothing Michael and Son.

Save yourself the headache and find another company. This company is completely irresponsible. I paid them to install a new heating and cooling unit and it has been nothing but a nightmare. The unit(s) have been screwed up since day one. It has been consistently losing refrigerant since the day it was installed, which they don't seem to have an issue with. Also, when the unit shuts down or starts up, the outdoor unit makes a horrible screeching noise. Each tech that checks it out has a different reason why its screwed up, I've been offered by some techs to do off-the-books repairs. I've been told its because I bought one of the cheaper units. I've been told to just wait a few months. I've been told it the line-sets. I've been told there is nothing wrong with it. I have a warranty that includes labor, and they try to charge for a diagnostic fee each time they come out. I just don't have the patience to deal with them anymore and will probably have to get another company to come and service the unit.

If I could leave less than one star for this business I would.  I had a technician out last Friday to look at a few minor problems.  I had an outlet behind my washer that has not worked since I moved in. When the technician tried the outlet it worked.  This leads me to think I might have an intermittent short somewhere but this guy just shrugged his shoulders & said 'it's working'.  Next problem was the outlet where my WiFi is plugged in.  My WiFi comes and goes as it pleases.  I had a similar problem with a house I previously owned and the problem was moisture in the area.  The technician took off the electrical clover, said he didn't see any moisture & again announced it was working.  The third problem is really why I am writing this review.  The light fixture on my ceiling fan has been broken for some time.  I had called several days before my appointment to make SURE whoever came to my home would be able to repair the light.  I was assured Michael and Son repaired ceiling fans.  The technician removed the bulbs from the light, checked it with a voltage meter, put in a new bulb, checked it again, then said that Michael and Son did not repair fans.  I told him I had called to make sure I could have my fan repaired.  He said 'sorry'.  The fourth issue was a GFCI outlet in my bathroom that kept tripping.  The technician removed the electrical cover, said he moved the box over a bit and everything was working now.  Twenty minutes & $69 later I called the company to complain about not getting my ceiling fan repaired.  The woman I spoke with was also under the impression that her company repaired ceiling fans!  She was ready to refund me at that time but I suggested they send someone out to repair the light on my fan, instead.  She was very nice~   Told me she would escalate the problem to her manager & I would hear from them soon.  I did not hear from anyone so I called back Tuesday morning.  I explained my issue & within a couple of hours I got a long voice mail back, basically telling me I was not getting a refund.  When I called back to explain my problem I was told that the technician had quoted me costs of repairing all of my electrical problems.  At that time I got a pdf on all the repairs, including replacing my 3 year old Hunter fan that does not need to be replaced, it just needs to be repaired!  On the day of service I did not get an estimate on repairing anything, all I got was a receipt for the service call. I was given the customer service manager's email address.  I submitted a long email to the manager.  I have still not received a reply.  I am so disappointed in this company.  I am fairly new to this area & finding reliable repair services has been a real struggle.  I did my research before I had Michael and Sons come out.  What a disappointment!

My husband and I have been very pleased with our services through Michael and Sons. The customer service is excellent from the people who answer the phones to the technicians in the homes. It is easy to schedule an appointment with them and they arrive on-time with a courtesy phone call letting you know they are 30-45 minutes away. They have performed timely service for our broken heater in the winter and AC in the summer. Gary even worked overtime on a Friday to rush our order for a new heater when it was quite freezing outside and we had a newborn in the home.  The technicians have been clean (booties and doormats), courteous (polite; quite when our son was napping) and we have no issues with letting them in or outside our home to do repairs. So far, we have had work done to the electrical panel, plumbing inspection, outside faucet repair, full HVAC replacement. We also have their warranty and have been pleased with the yearly inspections of our home, including electrical (they arrived the day after we purchased the warranty/coverage), free plumbing inspections and the recent AC check.  Yes, they do make recommendations of what we need to fix, which can be seen as upselling, but they are a business and that is how things work. When we tell them, Not at this time, they do not press the issues which were are pleased about. AFter each visit we receive a personal thank you note and have even gotten a tin of cookies and other goodies after our big heater purchase.  We have been very pleased with all of our M&S services and we do recommend them to all of our friends and neighbors.

If you want a reputable company who will do the job right the first time give them a call.  They recently took care of my hvac when ac went out.  Will definitely call again in future.

Always a disappointment. I have had a few interactions with this company, none have gone well. The technicians know their job, but be wary of the upsell for $400. I called for a check up on my AC as they suggested, waited 2 weeks for them to make the appointment, was called and told the tech was a little behind but coming then after that called back and canceled on. This $400 they sell you on is a maybe to be on the list that they will cancel on you at the drop of a hat. They are not professional and appointments mean nothing. I had a salesman come out to price a replacement, he looked over my older house and would not send me a quote until I called the head salesman to get something out to me. I would stay away, unprofessional, not trustworthy. If they do the job the techs are good, but it's the getting there that is the issue. I would not use again unless I need to, which after this next call, if they come saturday morning, I hope not to need ever again. I will take my business elsewhere.

This was a very disheartening experience! There was a complete lack of full transparency. The results left Michael & Sons profitable, but provided us without any answers. Upon reaching out to them for a compromising resolution, they failed to even return my husband's phone call. Sadly, this is the type of company who appear to take advantage of people during already challenging situations.

My meter base fell off of the wall over Labor Day Weekend, so someone called Dominion Power to come take a look at it (don't ever do this-call an electrician). So they came out to have a look, and they declared it unsafe and shut our power down until we could get someone to reattach to the wall, then get a city permit AND get a city inspection. It was ridiculous. I called Michael and Son that Sunday, a gentleman named Corey came out in perfect time. Dispatch was helpful in letting me know how long to wait, Corey kept me updated on where he was. And, arrived in less than 40 mins of me calling them. I was impressed. He came down to look at the meter, he came up with a reasonable estimate, and he immediately started working on it. He didn't finish it all in the first day he needed to grab some equipment and he came back the next morning fully prepared. He finished that day, and on Tuesday, we got a permit and a city inspection, and had our power turned on that day. It was a nightmare situation, but I couldn't have done it without Corey's help. He was amazing- thank you, Michael and Son for hiring him. He deserves a raise!

I lost my hold day at home to wait for my AC to be fixed, and the work had not done right. I paid $230 to get it fixed and hope that the AC could turn right on. Then the technician still told me to wait for another day just for troubleshooting. I asked for sooner and then the response is to pay $169 for emergency. No responsibility.

Called in for an estimate 2 days after thanksgiving. Tech came out for an estimate that Saturday to work around my schedule. Their office kept up with me on the progress well. Work was completed a couple days later and exactly how I wanted it. Danny did a great job and I'll definitely use them in the future if needed!

It has been a few weeks now that we bought a new HVAC and Water heater and we are still waiting for someone to come out and fix the condensation on the new unit. The technicians have been good guys, but the office staff is terrible!! They don't return phone calls and they put me on hold for a long time, just to transfer me to numerous people to speak to a manager about all the problems I am having with them. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a company that I have spent 7,500 dollars on new equipment for my house!!!! I would not recommend any Micheal and Son's, especially if your looking for reliability and getting the job done right the first time!

I have a home service plan with MIchael & Sons that covers Electrical, Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning. They are always prompt, pleasant, and proficient whether coming for a scheduled maintenance call or responding to an emergency call. They are considerate in cleaning up after themselves and clear in explaining any problems and their recommendations.
When recommending repair solutions, they always offer good, better, and best options--what is the minimum to resolve the immediate problem, what additional work could prevent future problems, and what exceptional work would provide improvements. They have never been pushy in trying to up-sell to the better or best option; I am comfortable choosing the option that works best for my home and my wallet.

The only thing I knew about Michael & Son was that they ran many commercial. On a rainy weekday night, around 8pm, I lost power in most of my house. I looked thru the phone book & they listed that they did 24 hour emergency calls. The call was made & the technician showed up around 10 o'clock. It was pouring rain & I felt horrible for this young man who was coming in & out of the house in the horrible weather, the electrical box is outside. There were so many problems in my old house & he came four day in a row fixing everything wrong. He took pictures of burnt wires that were under my house, so that I could see some of the problems. He was the MOST professional young man I have seen in many years. I can say that Michael & Son hired an amazing electrician when they hired Dan Steele. I will call them in the future simply because of him. I don't know if the price was high or low, I have nothing to compare it with, but because of Dan Steele I will recommend this company many times over. Seeing such a hard working, dedicated employee made it a pleasure. Thank You Mr. Steele & thank you Michael & Son, ALL MY PROBLEMS are solved.

Called in on a Saturday afternoon for my rental property. It is 95* outside and the a/c stopped working. I believe it warrants the description of an emergency when there is a pregnant mother living there. I was told by the service rep they would have to fax/email me a credit card authorization form in order for them to visit a tenant on site without the landlord present. I didn't have access to a printer/fax and needed someone there ASAP. Was told it was there company policy and there was no way around it. I was willing to pay a deposit over the phone and had a credit card ready but they would not take it. I informed the rep it was a terrible policy and he informed me that they miss out on a lot of service calls because of it. I highly recommend putting an exception in there for an emergency call. I called Classic Air one hour heating and cooling and they are on site 2 hours after the call with no deposit needed. I gave them a two star because the service rep was courteous and well spoken.

I have consistently used Micheal and Son for both plumbing and electrical work and I give their name to friends who ask about plumbing and electrical.  However, last Saturday I cleared my schedule to wait for a 10-2 appointment.  No one showed up.  Today,I waited for someone to show up for an 8-10 appointment and thought I would call about a window.  They tell me my appointment has been cancelled.  I ask by whom and no one can tell me.  Another day blocked out for nothing.  I can no longer give their name to anyone else as this is total unprofessional service.

I had some electrical problems on Sunday. I called Michael and Son services Monday morning at 7am. They were able to get a technician out to me by 10:30am. The technician, Zachary Herman, was respectful, professional, and polite. The services were completed in an hour. I am very pleased with the service I received. I will definitely use this company again.

Today I had 2 Ventilation fans installed/replaced in 2 of my bathrooms..
I can't say enough about the electrician who came to provide an estimate and do the work.. Louis Pacheco is a fine example of what a representative of Michael & Son should be.. He negotiated a fine estimate the week before, scheduled today's installation time, showed up as promised and did ae expert job with the installation.. I couldn't be more pleased..
We have used Michael & Son for a very many home projects and were very pleased with all of them.. We will use Michael & Son again in the future..

Holy price gouge!  My AC went out on Saturday.  On Sunday these people showed up to do the work.  $646 for a $3.00 part.  My property manager could not get anyone out until Monday so we called these people.  They made sure we paid for bothering them on a Sunday.  Now my property manager is trying to get them to reduce the charge and they are not budging.  Her AC guy that couldn't make it out is saying that any reputable company would have only charged $200.  THIEVES!!!  Avoid at all cost!!!

I have had nothing but good experiences with Michael & Son. Today was no exception. I called because I had a leaking faucet in my guest bathroom (the previous plumber improperly installed the seat). I called at 8 am and they customer service representative said they had no appointments left for the day but they should be able to get someone over. By 3 pm Mathew Delmage had called and said he was on his way. He was courteous, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Not only did he fix the problem, but he showed me how to fix it myself in the future. Furthermore, he explained a good place to pick up reasonably priced tools so I would have the capability to do it myself. I have had limited interaction with any sort of contractor, plumber, electrician etc. so I just don't know if it is worthy of a 5 star rating, but I was satisfied with all aspects of the work.

This company has won its way back into my good graces.  As previously reviewed, I had issues with them last spring when it came to customer service.  Their technicians showed up late and nobody really cared.  After some back and forth, the management reached out to me and offered a one year home care agreement ($389 value) for free as a gesture of good will.

As it turned out, one of my A/C units died this spring and needed replacing.  My home care agreement provided me $800 off the sale price and I was still allowed to use the $500 coupon in the yellow pages for a total savings of $1300 on my unit.  Not to mention a 0% financing deal on a top tier unit.

I wasn't happy about having to replace my unit but that is not the fault of Michael and Sons.  It was old and these things have a shelf life.

I am just glad they fought so hard to win back my business.  They ended up saving me a lot of money in the process and my new A/C unit is kicking Mr. Summertime's ass.

Believe it or not, the Mike Tyson commercial amused us so much we called Michael & Son soon after seeing it to schedule a quote for an upgraded electrical panel.  We assumed by the age and looks of the old panel that this would be no small or easy job.  From the first moment the electrician, Homer, came into our home he was exceptionally professional, courteous, and obviously knowledgeable.  He confirmed our assumption that ours would not be a simple job, but the most important thing for us is that he repeatedly reassured us that the job was completely doable.  On the day of the scheduled job Homer called and let us know he and another electrician, Dan, were on their way. Homer and Dan were not only courteous, professional, and incredibly thorough for the duration of the job, they were also down to earth and friendly which made the entire process stress free and even enjoyable!  They even took the time and effort to send us before and after pictures. We will absolutely turn to Michael & Son Services for future needs.

I was very disappointed in this company. My AC unit was not shutting  off when the inside unit cut off . They wanted to charge me over 700.00 to replace the wiring in the unit. Two of their  service men came over on separate times  and give the same quote. My husband said there was no way that replacing wiring would be that much. We ended up getting another company come over the same day for another  quote, come to find out the wiring did not needed to be replace it was the thermostats that needed to be replace. I saved over 500.00 with the other company. My advice, don't let this company do any work on your property unless you get a second opinion..

$169 for a dispatch fee on a late Friday night, which I felt is reasonable (it was near midnight).   So, how does M&S really make their money?  PARTS!   550% markup!

Excluding cheaper parts options online, buying in bulk and also wholesale, using this example, this represents a 550% markup!  

The tech that arrived was Thomas and he was fantastic!   He knew his stuff and fixed it promptly.  Also, came back 15 minutes later when the same problem broke (but I don't think it was his fault, at all).  

So, if you can't, they can... but bring your wallet to this game!  It's going to cost ya.

Cameron came out to my residence today to repair a leak in my shower.  I've never encountered a more thorough plumber ever.  He found the problem and fixed it immediately.  He also provided suggestions and made sure that I was informed of every step.

Waste of time and money..  I contacted them for a problem and they sent a young kid - and he sold me a bill of goods.  Did not inspect anything, just made an assumption and it was a total waste.  I recommend calling an actual plumber if you have any type of plumbing problem - not these guys.  Never again!!

We bought our AC from michael&son and stopped working but still in warranty. Called them and their earliest emergency service!! That they can provide is one week away! Since they can't provide emergency repair service, like advertised, inquired whether they're willing to contract out. They declined that option too.
Apparently their 7/24 , same day response is only to install the new hvac $$$, not the repair under warranty!
If you're considering buying a new hvac from them, be informed their warranty repair protocol is to delay as long as possible hoping you call for help somewhere else! (Suggestion of their concierge lady)

Company said the workers would arrive between the timeframe of 0800 to 1200. They did not arrive in that timefram. No notice a out an estimated arrival time, delay on schedule was given until I contacted the company several times.

The workers, who finally arrived at 1300, provided a ridiculously estimated price to install a garage disposal.

I wish I could go lower than 1 star.

I took out a connection on my outdoor AC unit with the weed eater. Techs came in on time and reconnected the wires. They also went in my attic to look at the indoor unit (because our fan would still blow neutral air when off). They told me I needed a new circuit board which would cost me $520.00 for the part, alone. A universal part at that. I found the manufacturer's part online for about $100.00.   Before I even decided to order it, I found that the fuse was just blown on the original circuit board. I spent $3.00 and changed the fuse. PROBLEM SOLVED. The uncontrollable fan was just on because of an unseen thermostat setting. How they didn't catch the blown fuse and the thermostat setting is beyond me. 1 star for punctuality and fixing original problem. Negative 4 stars for suggesting a $520.00 part which I fixed, myself, for $3.00. WHO IS THE PROFESSIONAL HERE? I even got a spiel from the tech about their honesty and integrity, how they are all screened, and that I should just trust them on that circuit board being the problem after he told me the price of that circuit board. How awkward. Again, $3.00 for a basic fuse vs. a$520.00 generic circuit board?? BYE!

DON'T CALL THIS CONTRACTOR, scamming people with $59 special, isn't a complete diagnostic and cleaning service call. Phone reps are not very knowlegdable and continue to say we can only provide $59 price any other fees the technician will discuss with you. Was not able to provide any quote. Customer is left with no expectation on service call costs, just a surprise once technician gives figures. Phone reps need additional Customer Service Training!  They should never tell a customer, they shouldn't believe everything they see online, keep those thoughts to themselves! UPDATE, ROYALLY LIVID, Today I took off work to meet with the TECH that was scheduled to arrive between the hours of 12 pm to 4 pm. Based on what the last TECH troubleshooting results were is that the motherboard needs to be replaced. I relayed this information to the Operations Manager to make sure the TECH had this part. The TECH that was scheduled for 12 pm to 4 pm to was suppose to bring a replacement. After the TECH did not show during the prescribed time, I called Michael and Son call center at 5:30 pm to confirm that the TECH was still in route. This is when I was informed that the TECH canceled the appointment because the part needs to be ordered a part that should have been ordered as on or about 18 June.  I did not receive a call or a voice mail about this cancellation or that the part needs to be ordered. So a no call no show today unprofessional to say the least. After further discussion with the call center, I was told that the part could take up to three days to be delivered. Then the parts department would call with an update and schedule a TECH to come and install the part. It is a good thing that I went spent over 1,000 dollars on Sunday on two window A/C making sure that they can provide heat, because god forbid that something like this happens during the winter months.
    Over all I am happy with the YORK Affinity 5 ton 18 SEER unit this is the only major problem. We spent over 12,000 dollars over 3 years ago on the unit. What I am not happy with is being sold. I was sold on that Michael and Son had a close relationship with York. That even if it was close to closing time for the York parts warehouse would stay open so that Michael and Son could get the part and get an HVAC unit up and running. This was the scene of security that I was sold and I truly believed at the time, because I do travel and I have a disabled wife and now a two year old. Now I was told by the call center that Michael and Son primarily sale Carrier units. I feel that now the unit is installed and paid off that my family was placed on the back burner.
    Finely I was planning to update some electrical in order to add a whole home generator, some solar panels and a few other pluming projects. I am not sure that Michael and Son is the right company for me.

Shout out to Caleb and Shelton Weeks for working around our schedule, getting the job done and just generally being awesome. Excellent customer service and great guys, an asset to Michael & Son's.

We had issues with our AC and needed new ducting; long story short, it was cooler under the house than inside! Anyhow, they came out a Monday and left by Friday lunchtime. It was quite a big job, so we appreciate them working around us so that someone could be in the house to let them in etc.

We had a few problems at the start getting the repairs going, but this is only because we had asbestos left under the house that wasn't removed by a completely different company - an absolute health hazard for them and us! But once we got that rectified and called them back out, they got started, confirmed all asbestos had been removed and it was full steam ahead.

What more can I say!? Punctual, hardworking, they kept us in the loop with the status of the repairs the whole time. And Raul was great too, can't leave him out! Would recommend these three to anyone for any HVAC repairs.

Thank you guys - hope we don't have issues again, but if we do, we want Caleb back on the job!

Called Michael and Sons after hours Friday evening. I got a fairly quick response. The bathroom was clogged and unusable.The initial charge was $89.00.  I was told that the pipe collapsed and roots were growing thru them and they would have to be replaced. An immediate repair would cost over $2000.00 but could not be guaranteed. To correct the problem and be able to guarantee it, it would cost over $6000.00. They would be able to start on it early Sat. am.They even offered to help with financing by giving me 10% discount and allowing me to pay it in 2 payments. Not having that kind of money, I called RotoRooter out. They were able to snake my pipes, get things going again and guarantee it for 30 days and charged less that $300. When Michael and Sons called about financing on Sat and I told them what happened, the tech said he was pleased I had my problem resolved and to call if they could help me again. Yea right! I DON'T THINK SO. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Overall, great experience. I understand that unexpected things happen. The part that was needed was not on the truck. I was told that they would come the next day to install it. The next day they weren't able to come out. The following day they set up another technician to come. Morgan went above and beyond to locate the part and was able to fix our HVAC system. He did a great job explaining how things work and had great recommendations.

I recently had a technician come out to change out a filter. The technician was professional and provided great service. However, I was charged a diagnostic fee when I should not have been because nothing was diagnosed. I was told I would receive a refund for this fee. Two months later and I still have not received a refund. I have contacted Michael and Son several times and have been told every time that the refund is being processed. Yet I have received nothing. I use these guys all the time and have never had any issues.   A little expensive, but when my security light was still not working after the tech thought he had fixed the issue, he came back and replaced the sensor for free.  They have always made the time windows they specified for me.

This review is provided to Andrew G not the company Michael and Son. The first impression Andrew gave me was friendly and professional. He came in gave his expert opinion(which I already knew lol) and then proceeded to the fun part. I was devastated to hear my single shower diverter was gonna cost me $350 to replace. After calling customer service and receiving nothing but insults from the representative I broke down literally. I was stuck between paying $69 for a diagnostic that I already knew and a $350 10 minute job. Long story short, Andrew was my hero and came through wearing his Superman cape lol. He calmed me down and assured me he would do all he could to satisfy me. Even though I still overpaid a lil bit for the job, it was worth it  because Andrew was awesome. He even showed me where my shut off valve was that I couldn't find for the life of me. My daughter and I are back with water and she has her working shower back. Thanks Drew and keep up your great customer service and positive attitude because it really makes the difference.

MONEY HUNGRY!! It's not about the price of the job at all!!! It's all about making money and that's it! I had a tripped breaker and they came out and priced me at 29.00 for a dispatch fee and almost 400 for a trouble shooting fee plus the cost of repairs.... I called Conyers Electrical and they came to fix it immediately and did NOT price gouge me at all! Sad....... I know. Make sure you look around before you pay... Big companies like these are not always better!! Be smart, go small! The smaller companies actually have a heart!

Straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak: I provided a critical comment on one of their FB posts, and within 10 mins it was deleted and my comment ability removed.

I purchased a heat pump and air handler for the upstairs - no problems.  It had several issues early on, but the replacement Michael and Sons provided has not had any issues.

I also replaced my water heater in the attic in 2015.  After about 4 years of use, it was leaking and needed to be replaced.  Rather than opt for another 50-gallon water heater that would also have the potential to leak in my attic (which Michael and Sons would have had to do for free - warranty), May 2019 I negotiated for a tankless system.  No discounts provided and the sales rep promised a 15-year warranty, which was amended by the installer to 10 years (unknown to him the sales rep lied to me).  The installation was haphazard and wasn't fully correctly installed until about four days into the installation.  I should have received a substantial discount for opting to go with another system rather than forcing them to replace for free; I was on sea duty and didn't have the luxury of haggling as I didn't want my wife to worry about 50 gallons of water busting in the attic.

Fast forward to Jan 2020...I'm now off of sea duty (CDR USN) and I asked my wife if anyone had contacted her about the service agreements?  When she told me no, I contacted Michael and Sons immediately.  They scheduled to have all three services completed in a short time, so they could say they honored the agreements.  Each visit turned into a sales pitch for one thing or another...electrical check turned into a sales pitch for smoke detectors and a new AC/Heat composite system downstairs.  They also tried to sell me a new AC/Heat composite system telling me that the system was going to fail in 2014 - doom and gloom gonna fail now so hurry and replace pressure.  I didn't replace that system, using another company of course, until last month.

I left messages for management to contact me, asked each rep that visits my house to contact management (who all said they will let management know), I filled out two online surveys (with no contact from the company), and I posted a critical comment in FB, that they promptly deleted.  To date, I have not received any assistance from management.

Reason for 3 stars: Simply because I really feel like they upsell way too much. Like talking to a car salesman. I really couldn't afford what they quoted (and I know I could have very well have gotten more estimates but who has the time) but since my shower fixtures and parts were outdated it was recommended to upgrade to the next best brand. I guess the local place they use for parts don't stock the less expensive stuff. So of course I got upsold but he was able to come down on the price. Ok, fine. I needed cold water and pressure to my shower desperately. I personally would have been just as happy with a repair of my unit and waited to the new year. But I must say, tonight I've had the best shower I've had in years. Expensive as HELL but great work and service nonetheless. I know now to do a bit more research but I'm so happy to have a properly working shower.

The quote alone to clear our disposal was $532.00.  The service charge for just coming out to tell us that information was $70.00.  The service person was delightful, however, I will never call this company again; I told them where the water had been drained from the sink and this was a once a year grease problem we have, and it's usually around the first of the year like clockwork.

Let me start by saying that I am a gold member with Michael & Sons.... So, I had a main line clog/ drainage problem and Michael & Sons were scheduled to come out to fix my problem.  Michael and Sons plumber came out on Thursday  13 June 2019 and they did absolutely no diagnostic checks or test to my plumbing. He only ran water and flushed my toilet - and spent alot of time on his telephone. With no plausible explanation, he told me I had a cracked pipe and said it would cost me at least $6700 to fix.... and haggled a price with me while he spoke with a supervisor on the telephone.

Also note-- Before the price haggling, I told the plumber that I had the same problem two (2) years ago and that plumber used this machine to brake up the clog in the line.

Michel and Sons plumber then told me I had to go the entire weekend with no water drainage... and was absolutely heartless with this information. He then said that the earliest they could come and dig up my yard... to remove my cracked pipe was 17 June 2019 (Monday).

Yes, the plumber they (Michael & Sons) sent to me was a plumber whisperer.... able to diagnose without assessing or checking anything plumbing related (e.g, no checking of the pipes... no drain checks, etc.) .

Michael & Sons plumber then  left my home... feeling good about doing absolutely nothing to help me (their GOLD member) with my plumbing emergency.  So, the next day I called around for a second opinion. I called Drain Wizard who came out immediately... and did the same thing that was done 2 years ago~~~and eureka..... plumbing problem fixed!!! FOR UNDER $200.

This was the second disturbing plumbing experience I have had with Michael & Sons (I also had a problem with one of their electricians over charging me on work). Their technicians are more like used car sales persons. One poster pointed out how they speak with someone on the phone in haggling (negotiating) prices... just like used car sales persons.

I have been talking with plumbing supervisors and HCA (Home Care Agreement- I am a GOLD member) persons about my problems, but it's all about excuses. Right now, I have lost ALL trust and respect for Michael & Sons...

If you do use them, ALWAYS get a second opinion. You have been warned.....

They are just like used car salesmen, the tech that came out was nothing but a shark looking for new prey. I wanted to see if they were reliable and honest before I had them do any work. I knew I needed a 3.00 gasket to fix a faucet leak, he told me it would $350.00 and no guarantee at all, then he told me I should get a new faucet $800.00. I was with him alone at the house he asked what my husband did for a living,I informed him I own a business and what does that have to do with anything. He said well then you should be able to afford it. I showed him to the door. They charged me $69 for a service call even after I complained to the company what happened. This is a sleazy company, beware.

STAND-BY GENERATOR INSTALLATION - PERFECT!

I contacted multiple companies in the area to obtain quotes for a stand-by generator installation at our property.

Jeremy Link from Michael & Son came out to provide an estimate for the job.

Jeremy was very thorough in his inspection (the only one who actually opened the breaker box panel) and provided an estimate right there from the driveway in about 15 minutes.  I received in via email after reviewing the estimate with Jeremy.  Awesome!

Upon receipt and review of the bids received - I informed Jeremy that their quote was out of range based on the bids received for the same services.  I also did this with the other companies that provided quotes.

Jeremy contacted me the same day and  stated he was reviewing with his manager to see what they could do.  I told him the gap and let him get to work.  

Later that afternoon - I received the updated quote from Jeremy as promised.

Upon final review of bids received (all for same installation, service, maintenance, etc) we selected Michael and Son to do the work.  They were not the lowest bid - but were 'best value' based on criteria, reviews, and how Jeremy presented himself, the work, and the quote.  

I notified Jeremy on Friday afternoon they were selected for the generator installation.  He made arrangements to meet with me Saturday to walk-thru the job again, collect the deposit, and present the timeline - awesome!

Michael and Son took care of all permits, etc so I didn't have to do a thing.  They got everything done in record time to start the job on time!!  Jessie Camacho gets it done!!

As promised, they showed up on Tuesday morning with the generator and got to work.  The team was Jeremy Link (project lead), Mike Delaney (electrician perfectionist).  

There was a small hiccup with the gas line installation - however, plumbing manager Don Richards and Gas Plumbing Specialist Joe Creasey showed up at 5pm on Friday afternoon and fixed the issues.  That was beyond my expectation - they cared about the job and got the issue fixed to get the project back on track.  

Monday afternoon - I'm doing the final walk-through with Jeremy and testing the generator operation, etc.  Flawless execution during the test - the generator kicked in and provided full power to the house 18 seconds after Jeremy killed the main power to the house.  Phenomenal!!

We ran everything in the house - Both AC unit zones, all lights, etc. The generator took the load without any issues.  I'm confident we'll have full power when Dominion goes off line.

Overall, I was impressed the by professionalism of Jeremy when he first showed up to do the bid, he clearly knows what he's doing and is clearly focused on quality of work and customer service.  The entire team from Michael and Son:

Everyone I dealt with was wonderful. Technician was helpful and explained what was doing.  He made a good effort to keep from making a mess. I would give 5 stars except for two things:
1. When I was told they would get to me today there was no indication that the arrival time could be after 9 p.m. Since I called at 7:30 a.m. by the time 7 o'clock p.m. rolled around I was fretting and worried that they weren't going to come it would have been helpful if the dispatcher had told me that they work up to 24 hours and was there a time that was too late. I was extremely glad that I did not take the day off work because I would have sat around all day for nothing.
2. After attempting several things, and telling me what the problem was, the issue was none of those things it seems is a clog in our drainage pipes that was causing the safety to trip in order to prevent a flood.  The technician attempted to find the pipe and look at it, but it was after midnight by this time and we were not able to locate it and we asked him to let us deal with it in the morning.  He promises to come back within a week to ensure that we are not having any problems, but a $300.00 charge (he put in 2lbs of freon) and the problem was not properly fixed is a bit frustrating.  Not only that but it turns out that we could have potentially fixed the problem ourselves for free. I understand that diagnosing these things is not an exact science but none the less it was frustrating. And perhaps next time we should just start with making sure that the drains are clear.

Called a few weeks ago for the $59 HVAC tune-up special - while the techs who were sent to my home were professional, courteous, and did their jobs well, a few hiccups with timing and customer service made for a very long and trying day.

I am pleased with the resolution, I look forward to future service calls, and feel I can recommend them to friends and family once more. Set an appointment to have my a/c serviced.  I was given 8-12 as my window for my appointment.  I received a call shortly after 8:00 am from Cody Campbell letting me know he was 15 minutes out.  Cody was friendly, courteous.  He introduced himself.  Placed a mat down in front of our door to clean his shoes and put booties on before he came into the house.  He verified the work he was scheduled to do.  He explained what he was doing throughout his inspection.  He provided pictures, dicussed recommendations and options.  He provided a packet with all services listed that Michael & Son provides.  He was very detailed in his explanations.  Cody made sure we understood everything he covered with us before he departed.  I found him to be efficient.  Would recommend his services to anyone requiring HVAC work.

It took me a month to get around to doing this- sorry guys! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the service they give. They listen and are compassionate and will go above and beyond for you to get what you need within your budget. The guys that came were fast, clean and courteous and were just a great couple of human beings. If I need anything again they will be my first call; whether its plumbing, hvac, electrical, etc- if they do it I will be contacting them without a doubt.
Our A/C burst and flooded our attic in spots and they sent an electrician for free without me having to ask to make sure there was no electrical issues before the work began, this was just a courtesy you don't get with other companies these days ( this was a Sunday too btw).
The sales staff that come out are great- no pressure type. The customer service follow up department are so sweet and make you really feel appreciated as a customer. Thank you Michael & Sons for being here for us when we really needed help!

Horrible customer services. Managers don't return calls. If they do call they don't leave message. Been waiting for $170 dollar refund for close to month.  Plumber came to install new water heater.  Took out old one and was going to put in new one but wouldn't fit through door way.  Said going to have to take apart door way and broke it said if breaks I have to pay for it.  I couldn't say no because then I would be left with no water heater.  Talked to manager said send him pictures and he would take care of it.  Never heard from him again.    Save your self time and money stay far from this company.

Received a call from Vance Shepard at Michael and son customer service today about my check in and it was a pleasure to speak with him just like it was a pleasure to have M&S plumbing service at my house Don Richards was very knowledgeable and honest he was clean and use drop cover on my kitchen floor. My new faucet works wonderful and I would recommend M&S service and check out the door mat they put down in front of your door I think is awesome I look forward to using there air conditioning service after reading Stephen a review I'll update my review after I receive my precision tune up.

We had our kitchen rewired, installed a new panel box and added some outlets to a home we recently purchased.  Ryan Cullum was the electrician.  He is very professional and very knowledgeable.  We love that he took time to tell us about the panel and about the electrical needs for our home.  We did not have to wait weeks to get the work done because he came the next day and did awesome work.  Pricing was a bit more than others but the service that Ryan provided was definitely better than others that we had in the past.  You should definitely call them and request Ryan if you need any electrical work done.  He was assisted by Michael and he did a great job also in the kitchen with the stove and outlets.

I must take the time to give Kudo's to two technicians that came out to service our company's  AC unit which was leaking.  Carlos and I believe the second guy's name was Manny.  We had some service issues with M&S's previously.  After making a few calls, I was assured that they would send a senior level technician out to correct the problem once and for all.  When Carlos and his co-worker came out, he was very professional and knowledgeable of what the issue was.  He took the time to explain every step of the process to me and also stayed a longer than needed to assure me that the problem was fixed.  A week later, no leaking!  Carlos and Manny's level of service was outstanding and should be recognized.

Grant, a very nice plumber, came out to fix two leaky toilets. He called bright and early to say he was on his way, and he showed up right on time. Unfortunately, after he left, the toilets continued to leak. I called Michael and Son, who was initially going to charge me for an additional service call and make me wait three days. However, they reached Grant, who immediately called me, came back, and made things right. I even got a call from someone at headquarters apologizing for the mix-up. It was a very expensive repair-almost $500-but I'm happy that Grant came back out so quickly and took care of business. He also did an exceptional job of cleaning up after himself; he left no mess whatsoever.

Today was my appointment with the City Inspector to check out the work done by Michael & Son. The techs whom I had worked with from estimate all the way through completion of the install stayed in touch to make sure I knew when the inspector would be coming and made a point of being available for the inspection. Because of that and their consideration for my time, I wasn't stuck with a large window of time that he MIGHT be showing up but was instead given an exact time I should expect him.

The inspector was pretty much right on time and Jeremy from M&S was ready and waiting before even I had arrived.

The inspection of what was a pretty large job was passed with no problems.

I wanted to follow up my review from earlier to share that, not only were there no issues with the inspection, but also that even for something as simple as showing up to mediate a city inspection, Jeremy was as great as he has been during the install. Again, he placed a fresh door mat outside and put on boot covers prior to entering my home and was as pleasant and professional as they had been since day one.  Even while interacting with the city inspectors who I know can be a real pain, he was just as great with him as he had been with me.

I can't really say how their service is because they never showed up.  We originally had a Friday apt. 2-6 timeframe and nobody showed up by 6 so WE called them and they told us he would be there by 7.  Finally at 10 minutes to 10 the guy calls and says he's on his way.  We have to small children and can't have a repair technician that late. I understand, those things happen and they were highly apologetic. They offered us 10% off. So we scheduled for the following Wednesday  4-8.  The same exact thing happened.  Nobody called and said they were running late or anything.  They called  at  630 and told us everything was on schedule. 8 rolls around and nothing and we finally called at 10:15 and cancelled.  Just all around terrible customer service.

They quoted three times the amount to fix something as compared to Norfolk Plumbing. Their figure was not based on hours labor and parts, but rather a swag at what they think it should cost to fix. Also the diagnostics fee is $69, however they do not advertise this when setting up an appointment. Recommend using a different plumber.

Issue: Icing up coils, restricting airflow - causing insufficient A/C to cool house.

Pros: Short notice appointment over the weekend, technician was on time 0800 Monday.  Tech returned later in week to provide an explanation of issue while I was home.

Cons: Very High Dishonest Price quoted to my wife who was home alone at the time of service visit and insufficient explanation from supervisor.

Explanation:  My wife was home alone tech called management to discuss access to the A/C unit, then quoted her $4,396 to replace evaporator coil on my 2T packaged Trane A/C unit.  My A/C unit has a deck built around it making access tight but not impossible so I understand a few more hours of labor may be necessary and cost more but the price still seemed VERY high. After contacting the tech regarding 17 screws which were not replaced following initial visit he agreed to return to discuss initial assessment and return the screws for my panels.

Tech returns Wednesday,  I ask for an itemization justifying the $4,396.  After several re-calculations while insisting the job would be more expensive due to the deck he said it would cost $3,370 and was not able to explain to me why he offered my wife a repair quote for $1,026 more than he did to me.  The fact that the initial estimates to her had options saying we would be getting a military discount when in fact we were being severely over quoted.

I voiced my displeasure to the evening manager over what felt like dishonest price gouging and gave him a day to provide me a response regarding why my family was presented this price discrepancy.  When we spoke the next day the manager, George, said due to the condition and location of my A/C unit Michael & Sons would not conduct the repair.  (This was a first heard. I have 2 separate official quotes listing the repair price from earlier in the week).  He further explained, You were provided the repair cost to show that the overall replacement was a better option due to the high repair price. (their replacement quote was $8K-9K depending on options).  He offered no explanation for why I was over quoted by more than $1K nor why I was never told they would not do a repair until I asked about the price gouging.  

It felt like they tried to take advantage of my wife while I was away and jacked up the price of repair to encourage an expensive replacement option.  I was not comfortable with the technician or the Supervisor's response.  I recommend you look for elsewhere if you can, as I did.

An update to the review that was hidden dated 3-28-15.  I had another plumbing company come out today and complete the plumbing job the Michael and Son gave me an estimate of $1736 for was completed in a few hours by another local plumbing company for $250.
4-30-15 Update...I received a phone call from the plumbing manager of M&S who was very apologetic about my experience. He made it a point to say that this is not the way M&S does business, and made a monetary adjustment that makes me feel a lot better about M&S.

UPDATE: 10June2019
So we've had the unit this company installed for about two years now and it just stopped working. No power to it at all. No breakers popped, no visible damaged wires in our attic, nothing, just stopped working. So since it's under warranty and we called the emergency line to get it fixed since it will be 90 degrees tomorrow. But I guess our mistake was the AC breaking after midnight because the services are only sent out after 5pm and since it was 4 minutes after midnight it's considered a new day and now it's before 5pm.....REALLY???? Why do you even have anyone answering the phone then????
So we have been put on a waitlist so ***maybe*** someone will be out tomorrow ***IF*** they can fit us in. So I guess as I thought before, they got our money and now we don't matter.
They will be reported to the better business bureau tomorrow as well as the military. Guess in a military town it would really suck if their company became off limits for the military to use since they just take us for our money then blow us off when they unit doesn't work. Considering this is literally the 10th time (AT LEAST) that we've had to call them about this it's safe to say we got ripped off. Super disappointing.

So far I'm not impressed. We spent thousands on a new unit from Michael & Son. This unit runs for HOURS. It takes at minimum 3 hours to lower the temperature 1 degree, no joke. The first technician we had out told us the unit needed freon. Seriously? A brand new unit needs servicing? This unit is a month old. We had an old dinosaur of a unit that failed. However, when it worked it cooled our 1400 square foot home down in an hour, easy. Today we had an appointment for a tech to come out and check why we now have no airflow. He was supposed to be here an hour ago (at the latest). No tech and even though the unit was recently serviced our house reaches nearly 80 degrees during the day even with the unit set at 71. And of course it takes a week for an appointment but when we were buying a new unit they were here the same stinking day we called them. I guess now that they have our money we aren't all that important. I had high hopes for a smaller business since we got a lower price from them than any of the other larger businesses we out to quote. That's currently the only reason I'm giving them two stars.

We had electrical work done last week to have outlets aligned in the kitchen awaiting new cabinets. We were told they needed to be rewired. The tech did a nice job cutting open the areas. The space was rewired and he left apparently not checking to make sure the electrical was working and all the lights. We discovered the kitchen lights not working and a few others along with a socket.
So we called Michael and Son again stating everything had been working prior with no issues. Today Sat May 14, another tech came out and after pulling some sockets out, checking circuits etc he said it was all connected to the problem but he was unable to find the wire causing the problem. He said it would be best if the original tech came back out. He told me he was going outside and would call his boss to reschedule for Tues. I asked him if he was frustrated he said yes a little bit and didn't like coming in behind someone else. (I can understand that but thats not our problem) Isn't an electrician supposed to be able to diagnose and repair.
Well I was waiting inside for about 15 mins thinking surely he wouldn't still be on the phone, and, he wasn't .....HE LEFT. Not only did he leave me hanging but left all the sockets dangling, left our ladder under the attic door failing to turn off attic light and closing the hatch. Upon leaving the property he drove through the front yard leaving about a 6 tire rut.
We called Michael and Son and was told they have no supervisors working on the weekend. I told the young lady I needed to speak to one today, not next week, and the only one they had was a call center supervisor. I sent her all the photos explained what happened and she apologized numerous times. I told her I wanted to speak with a higher up but all she could do was email someone. About an hour and a half later the tech called me and asked what's going on. I told him you left all the sockets hanging, attic light on and open and you drove through the front yard. He asked what do I want him to do (really)??
He said I left the sockets hanging to make it easier for the original tech. What kind of electrician does that?
I said you also drove through my yard he replied Oh I'm sorry.
I tried to call the corporate number but it kicks back to the local M&S with the voice prompts. I left an email saying I wanted to speak with an owner and I'm waiting till next week to see if that happens however I won't hold my breath.
Unprofessional in every way shape and form. And lack of Supervisors is mind boggling. Michael and Sons is extremely over priced to begin with so we'll see how this gets resolved. The yard WILL get fixed but that the tech didn't even let us know he drove through it is sad as well.
On a good note the tech came back and fixed the hanging sockets and he did apologize. It's not that the techs who did the work aren't polite because they are, they are very polite!
But that doesn't correct the problem. The photos show how the job was left and the damage to our yard.

We have been with them for about three years. At the time, they had a financing option with Wells Fargo. We used it to pay for nearly $14000 in Electrical, Plumbing, and AC and Heating work. We have always purchased the Silver Home Care plan using this financing option. Upon renewal, and after they came to the house to do the inspection, I was told that they cannot accept the payment option for a $189 silver plan renewal, only if I had more expensive work done to go along with it. So I was forced to pay the $69 visit fee. If I had known this was going to be denied, I never would have had the tech come out. Expensive lesson.

We do have some follow up work that needs to be done and detailed lots of route and options. She wasnt at all pushy. They did apologize for previous failing as that is not their usual and made things right for us.

Terrible experience, the first plumber Tom Keen from M&S came to fix a pipe leak and recommended to replace the quest piping. I signed a contract to replace all the house piping. The plumber finished work on Friday evening and he said all pipes were replaced in our 2 story house. I asked the plumber where is the city inspector and he said we don't need one, than I asked him how did you replace the pipes on the second floor without working inside the house and he said he done the work from under the house. I got this crook in a big lie and fraud, he did not know that I am a mechanical engineer, I called M&S and reported the fraud. They send a different plumber who finished the job. Watch out and don't trust this company as I have signed a maintenance contract and the only thing they recommend is to try to sell you more and more services which are not necessary. The techs they send to your house work on commission and try to rip you off.

From sales Norris extremely knowledgeable,took the time to explain in great detail everything from A to Z, his persona was perfect, not pushy, friendly and again knowledgeable and treated me with great respect. Made we very confident in the company. I also replaced my duct work because of him. He followed up with me almost immediately with a couple concerns. He is a asset to your company.

Carlos and Emerson my HVAC team, Awesome as well!!!! Very timely, always called ahead. polite and friendly and I have 2 hard to handle dogs, They were awesome. I was kept informed every step of the way. They didnt waste time and always cleaned up. Extremely professional. They did a beautiful job and Im sure I will enjoy it for years to come. Our furnace had stopped working, and we found this company through google.  We were surprised to get same day diagnostics.  I stood by while their technician looked at my system.  He opened the main panel, and removed a cover for the circuit board.  Once inside he did a reading that showed no power where he said there should.  He was unable to locate the serial number for the unit, and could not start the system. I was informed that I could have the system repaired, but it would be best to replace the system.  He spent more time on the phone than he did with my system.

We decided to get a second opinion the same day.  The second company came out, explained that the spot the previous tech checked shouldn't have power while the valve was shut.  He proceeded to start my system (to my surprise), opened the top of the system, and found 2 holes in the heat exchange.  He also pulled the fan blades out to look at the other side of the system.  His repair was to replace the heat exchange, which would have safely fixed my system, or to replace it.  He shut the gas off in the end, informing me it was a health/safety issue.

Michael & Son misdiagnosed my system, didn't do a complete diagnostic, and missed something that could have cause harm to my family, or even killed them.  I called the call center to voice my concerns, they told me I would get a call in 48 hours from the technician.  After that I went to their webpage to contact them, where I was told I would receive a callback shortly.  Michael and son has still not gotten back to me, something other companies had told me would happen.

If I had taken the repairs from Michael & Son, my family would have been exposed to potential carbon monoxide poisoning.

I recommend steering clear of this company.

This is the second time I used Michael and son  for preventative service cleaning on my heat pump. The first time Five stars , This time (different service tech) One star. Will never use again. The tech lied and said he cleaned the coils on my outdoor unit.My outside spigots were never turned on for the season. The only thing he did do was install a media filter that I had purchased on Amazon. He tried to sell me an automatic shutoff for the drain pan up in the attic. I got one already.  I watched him while he was in the attic. He basically just stared at the unit. I did not how ever go with him to the outdoor unit. He told me my drain line had a clog in it. Go figure!!! He used a shop vac and cleared the supposed clog. Funny drain pan in attic was bone dry. I will never ever use these people again. I feel like I was cheated out of my hard earned money.

Paid top dollar for a new Trane system. Everything went well until my payment cleared. Since then, every time I scheduled an HVAC appointment, it was cancelled on the day they were supposed to show, and after the show time. The first cancel was right before a major storm hit. The customer service reps I have dealt with have been very unhelpful and arrogant. I called to ask about my system, and the rep told me to call the manufacturer! That is funny, but not when I forked out hundreds of dollars for an annual contract with Michael and Sons. I am giving up on them. They are okay if you need service with no contract, but I highly recommend not going with their expensive annual contract. The fact is, the first HVAC company that shows up on time is the one who should get paid. I will never go annual with anyone again. I do owe Michael and Sons thanks for teaching me that valuable lesson. Randy seems to be the only manager I have dealt with who sincerely cares, but he is no match for the Mickey Mouse customer service. Too big, too fast, so long.

We had a leak in our home due to our AC Unit. And I submitted an online request to Michael & Son and everyone was so nice. From the lady who took my info and made my appointment to the technician Matt everyone was so helpful and kind.

Matt was able to come out the same day and he was very respectful and courteous. He looked at my unit and told me exactly what I needed and was clear with me about cost and options.  And really educated me on the situation. He worked very hard to make sure the problem got solved. I am so happy with my experience I will refer everyone I know to Michael & Son! Never using another AC company!

Prompt response time, but $700+ quote to change out bath fixtures?  They have a pricelist of all the jobs and all the prices are overinflated.  They charged me over $300 for a 10-minute job to change a tub control valve using a $40 part.  Never again!

Had to have a HVAC inspection & cleaning for the cond assoc. I called on a recommendation of another Condo owner. The service tech was very friendly explained what he was doing & gave his recommendations.While he was suppose to clean the system inside & out he tried to sell me additional products for peace of mind & he tried to leave without cleaning the outside unit.He said he forgot to bring his water compressor & didn't offer to return.Since this is near the ocean I knew it needed to be hosed down minimally.I showed him where there was water access & a hose he could use & had to take him to task to complete the job. The next day I saw a different HVAC co. Cleaning an outside unit properly & wished I had used them.

Requested an estimate for an electric tankless hot water system Michael and son sent two teenagers to the house one female one male both were all tattooed up with pins through their nose and ears Who sends zombies to a house for an estimate they said they couldn't install an electric tankless system but they could install a gas tankless system for over $6000 I wasn't born yesterday their motto should be if you can't we can rip you off
