Military Friendly!
My daughter is young, in the Navy, lives alone, and a brand new home owner. She had some blockage that prevented her from flushing toilets, using washer, etc. The rest of her family is in Florida. Scheduling and making phone calls is difficult for her on work and duty days.
I initially called another business who ranked high in google reviews. Explaining what was going on and the fact my daughter was on duty, I was trying to have someone schedule a specific appt for the next day. The person on the phone asked who the home owner was and would not assist me because my daughter was. I explained the situation again and she stated they have to get permission from the homeowner and discuss fees. I inquired about provisions for military and she offered no help so they were not for us.
I then called Tidewater. After explaining everything, Mr Martin asked if we had called the city. We know nothing about dealing with the city as we've always been on well water. He let me know that if the blockage is on the city side, they will fix it for free. If it wasn't on their side, he could help us. He even looked up the number for me to call. After it took the city two days to come out, we called Mr Martin back and set up a Friday appt.
He showed up on time with his son and another worker and resolved the issue quickly. My daughter was completely happy and comfortable with them. He took the time to tell her what to get to wrap her exterior pipes and cover her crawl space. Because they also handle A/C and heat issues, she spoke to him about some heating, water pressure and water heater issues. They never made her feel like they were in a rush to get out of there. The cost for their time was very reasonable and less than we'd imagined.
My daughter will be having them come out as soon as she can to assess some of those other issues she has. So happy to have found a trustworthy business for her to deal with since we aren't there to help her.

I asked on my neighborhood Facebook page for references for ac repairman. I was actually given a different guy's name and he ended up sending me Kelvin with Rivera's Home Improvement! After meeting and doing business with Kelvin, I know it was divine intervention, because he was a God send! I ended up needing a new unit outside. Which could have been stressful to even think about due to expenses, but Kelvin is as honest as they come and doing business with him was a true blessing to me and my family. I now have a new unit, 2 days later. He showed up first thing in the morning just like he promised and my home is currently cooling in the low 70's and I now have a new 10 year warranty on my unit! I will never call anyone else about ac/heating ever again! I can't praise him or his company enough! No stress involved! I highly recommend him for your ac/heating work! You'll be glad you did

Was not happy with the outcome of this service. No problem with the gentlemen that came to
our home. He got the heat going and he said it could last a few hours a few days, a weeks its a temporary fix. He explained to us we needed a Hi Limit switch; but he did not have one on hand . He needed to get one from the warehouse but since it was Saturday it was closed. Unfortunately it broke within eight hours. I'm not upset about that because he told us that might happen. The part I'm upset about is we called them early Monday morning 8am was told no one was in yet .Because it was early, I understood so we called back at 9:45 am explained to them what had happen. They in returned said they were having a 10:00 meeting afterwards someone would call us back. We heard nothing from them. So we called another company in Monday evening to replace the switch. Which they had to overnight it .Which was little costly on top of the 135.00 it cost us from American Mechanical. We finally got heat back on Tuesday evening. I called American Mechanical Wednesday morning at 10:00am. I spoke to a lady ,Lou, and explained to her what took place asked her why we did not hear back from her company. She then said they called Tuesday and left a message informing they had the part. I was home and did not get a call in my 58 degrees home. We were suppose to hear from them Monday; we call twice and didn't hear a word back . To me that is not Good Business or professional. I Had asked for some compensation back to off set the total cost of needing another company to restore our heat . They reply. We did nothing wrong and therefor none of the money would be funded. NICE COMPANY...

We had electrical work done last week to have outlets aligned in the kitchen awaiting new cabinets. We were told they needed to be rewired. The tech did a nice job cutting open the areas. The space was rewired and he left apparently not checking to make sure the electrical was working and all the lights. We discovered the kitchen lights not working and a few others along with a socket.
So we called Michael and Son again stating everything had been working prior with no issues. Today Sat May 14, another tech came out and after pulling some sockets out, checking circuits etc he said it was all connected to the problem but he was unable to find the wire causing the problem. He said it would be best if the original tech came back out. He told me he was going outside and would call his boss to reschedule for Tues. I asked him if he was frustrated he said yes a little bit and didn't like coming in behind someone else. (I can understand that but thats not our problem) Isn't an electrician supposed to be able to diagnose and repair.
Well I was waiting inside for about 15 mins thinking surely he wouldn't still be on the phone, and, he wasn't .....HE LEFT. Not only did he leave me hanging but left all the sockets dangling, left our ladder under the attic door failing to turn off attic light and closing the hatch. Upon leaving the property he drove through the front yard leaving about a 6 tire rut.
We called Michael and Son and was told they have no supervisors working on the weekend. I told the young lady I needed to speak to one today, not next week, and the only one they had was a call center supervisor. I sent her all the photos explained what happened and she apologized numerous times. I told her I wanted to speak with a higher up but all she could do was email someone. About an hour and a half later the tech called me and asked what's going on. I told him you left all the sockets hanging, attic light on and open and you drove through the front yard. He asked what do I want him to do (really)??
He said I left the sockets hanging to make it easier for the original tech. What kind of electrician does that?
I said you also drove through my yard he replied Oh I'm sorry.
I tried to call the corporate number but it kicks back to the local M&S with the voice prompts. I left an email saying I wanted to speak with an owner and I'm waiting till next week to see if that happens however I won't hold my breath.
Unprofessional in every way shape and form. And lack of Supervisors is mind boggling. Michael and Sons is extremely over priced to begin with so we'll see how this gets resolved. The yard WILL get fixed but that the tech didn't even let us know he drove through it is sad as well.
On a good note the tech came back and fixed the hanging sockets and he did apologize. It's not that the techs who did the work aren't polite because they are, they are very polite!
But that doesn't correct the problem. The photos show how the job was left and the damage to our yard.

Do not hire them. I think he is a scam artist! He was hired to do a small job in tore up my entire floor, which cost me $5000 out of my own pocket because he kept the rest of the insurance money saying he spent it on plumbing. I had somebody go into the house after him and a lot of the things that he said he did we're not done.
