Roman to the rescue! Roman has earned our loyalty in just one visit - he will be our go-to plumber as first-time homebuyers.
When I contacted several plumbers for availability and price quote to install a garbage disposal and fix a kitchen sink hose, Roman was the quickest to respond by far. He was able to reply to my message on a Saturday and come install & fix the following day (Sunday).
Roman's pricing was clear and very affordable compared to other price quotes I got. He gave us the option to purchase our own disposal and he would install.
When he arrived, Roman wore shoe covers in the house and explained what he would be completing. He worked quickly and efficiently, and once installed, showed us how the disposal works and how to maintain it properly. He improved and gave us more recommendations for our sink hose pressure.
We had made small talk and shared we were first time homebuyers: Roman went above and beyond by offering to go over plumbing basics and tips with us throughout the house at no extra cost. He had wonderful tips for our bathroom sinks and showers, kitchen sink, toilets, water line and winterizing our outdoor hoses.
THIS is the kind of professional, one-on-one service that wins me over for life! If we ever need anything, Roman will be my first call.

Cardinal Services was amazing! I had a similar experience as another reviewer. We were told by Uptown that they would never be able to clear more than 20% of the sewer line because of roots and they recommended replacing several feet of the line for $5000. I was looking for a second opinion and found Gene's Water & Sewer who recommended Cardinal Services. Cardinal Services was able to almost completely remove the roots and showed me with the camera that there is very little wrong with my sewer line. I will have to have it cleaned every couple of years but they saved me a lot of money. I highly recommend Cardinal Services.

My dehumidifier had been running non stop for a month and water was everywhere all over my basement due to our furnace leaking. Metro sent a wonderful technician out fast and he unclogged our drain hose for us. Within 24 hrs, my dehumidifier has stopped running and the basement is dry again!!
Thank you Metro Heating/Cooling. You saved my basement floors, walls and my electricity bill!!
Plus they changed my furnace filter so I didn't have to. I will use them again!

Our aging house had a floor drain backup in the basement, and I ended up calling them on a Friday afternoon. They were one of the few places willing to give an estimate over the phone (common problem, takes an hour, here's what it costs). Other places wanted to send a person out for an estimate, and one was even going to charge me for it. Np thank you.
So, we talked through things, and they said they wanted to save me some money and not ping me with the weekend surcharge. Well, we still had one bathroom that wasn't backing up the drain every time we flushed, so we were willing to tough things out until Monday to save a few bucks. Kudos to American Sewer for not rabidly jumping on the chance to gouge us for some weekend work.
Monday rolled around and the guy showed up promptly after lunch as promised. He was very courteous and respectful of our home, and he got straight to work. Diagnosis? A clog right at the main cleanout. Easy peasy. And as long as he was there and had the equipment, he asked if I wanted him to put the camera down the sewer line to check for roots or other problems. It may or may not have been entire necessary as we've never had problems, but with an older home it's something a homeowner should know.
Every single step of the way, he was very clear about what he was doing, why he was doing it, and he very clearly explained any service that would cost extra. At no point was I ever in the dark as to what the bill would be.
Sure enough, that old cast iron pipe had roots growing in. So we went ahead with the rooter to break them up, and in the process the sewer pipe partially collapsed. Like, the roots had broken through, and the only thing still holding the pipe together was the roots that had to be removed because they were obstructing the pipe. It was unfortunate but bound to happen considering the shape that the pipe was in, and I suppose it's better that it collapsed while we had the scope there to see the damage from the inside.
In the end, I was satisfied with the service. Had it not been for the pipe collapsing, it would have been a routine in and out job for a fair price. I was given not one but three references from them for replacing that pipe, and they advised that I still check around for a better deal anyway. The owner even gave a follow-up call to make sure I was satisfied with the service.
American Sewer was the right choice to make. Fair price, clear estimate over the phone, and the job was done in a timely manner. I hope to never need them again (don't ask me about cleaning up my basement floor), but I won't hesitate to calm if I need their services.

If they have a slogan, I don't know it. You don't need to know much more than this, they really work hard to get the job done right. I'll try to spare you from reading the entire review so I'll hit the high points. They cost less than pretty much everyone else. They bring a bunch of cool high tech equipment that must cost a fortune (they can make a high definition video of the inside of your pipes so you can see what's going on for yourself). They bring a good attitude and friendly demeanor. And they really do want to make your drains run as good as new.
The job I called them out for was a last minute oh-boy-I-need-an-inspection-now kind of situation. Jake came right out and was happy to let me watch what he was doing and explained what was going on. By the way, my house is OLD! Jake had to break a clog in a pipe that was like cement. After much effort he couldn't wash out the scale that was produced. He told me I could leave it that way, it may run out in time, but that I should really have the pipes hydro-jetted. I had been watching the images from the camera in the pipe so I knew he wasn't trying to sell me something I didn't need. There was a lot of scale in there!
Alex came out 2 days later for the jetting. He worked for a long time trying to get everything out of the lines but was having trouble with our unique sewer setup. In the end, he had to come back. Together with the boss, they got the job done. They also were able to give me a lot of information about my sewer lines. Information that was not all good, but it is better to know ahead of time so I can plan for the future. Remember, this is an old house with nearly 80 year old pipes.
In the end these guys did an excellent job dealing with a far more complicated system than they expected. I was around to see a lot of the work they did and to hear them discuss a lot of the situation. It is apparent that they truly cared about how well they got the job done at my house and they have an honest culture of interest in knowing what is going on under every house in which they work.
One last thing, no amount of chemical drain cleaner will do what these guys can do with a real drain snake and a hydro jet. When I think about how much I use the drains in my house and how important it is for them to work correctly, it's a no brainer to call them out when things aren't going down the way they should.

As a new homeowner, I wanted a professional to inspect our sewer lines so we didn't have any nasty surprises. John's Sewer came highly recommended from several people and they were absolute pros. They were quick and clean! I would definitely use them again for any future issues or just for regular maintenance.

They completed plumbing for a bathroom remodel. Always on time, fair prices, excellent work. I would recommend them to anyone.

Had an appointment for 9:30 to 11:30 today. Didn't show up, didn't return my call until after 3pm. Called another plumber. Very disappointed. My time is just as important as others.
820 Main St, Baldwin, WI 54002
I contracted Home Depot, who contracted Champion Plumbing to install a new hot water heater. The plumber gave a window of noon to 6:00 and still arrived late. He offered solutions to installing the hot water heater which included now venting to bring it to code or install a power vent. Neither of which he had. The original cost was going to be $1000 and his estimate shot up to $1900 for one way and $3000 for the power vent. I in turn did the job myself for $700. I would have paid the $1000 very happily. They went from a $1000 sale to $0.
Not happy.

I spoke with Jermiah. I also spoke with Keith. The person that came to my house was named Luke. I explained the problem and he wanted to try the motorized snake. It didn't work. The clog was too deep. Luke was in over his head, he called Keith a few times while he was at my place. He wanted to see were my home connected to the main sewer line (we live in a mobile home) It is underneath and I showed him. He very obviously balked at what needed to be done. I asked if their company had a jetter. He called Keith again (or at least pretended to) And then told me Keith would be out with a jetter later that night. He also told me I would have to pay more he said ridiculously expensive. I told him I don't care how much it costs this has to get done now. So again he tells me Keith will be out but it might be very late. I asked for Keith's number and he told me it was against company policy for him to give me the number (even though I already had the number because Keith had called me a couple times earlier in the week.) He then wanted to settle up with me and I said I would pay when the job was finished. He said something about having 2 invoices because it will be 2 jobs. He only charged me $115 for the service call. He did not charge me for the snaking or his time. 2 hours after he left I called Keith and asked him if he was coming with a jetter. Keith said -I don't know what you're talking about, I don't have a jetter, our jetter is in the shop, I got 2 more jobs tonight and I'm going home.- The bottom line is, I paid somebody $115 to rip my toilet off, he didn't even re-install it. Then they abandoned the job.

$550 to install a kitchen faucet that I supplied! And according to Tom the smooth talking plumbing manager that was the heavily discounted price. I would warn against anyone considering using Muska. For any of their services.

We recently called them to do a simple job - update the gas shut off valves on our water heaters (for a duplex rental property). In order for him to do his job, he had to turn off the gas (main valve on the exterior of the property) going into the house. When the service plumber - Pedro Berrios - left, our water heater wasn't functioning and our gas furnace was off. We had to manually turn our water heaters on ourselves and our gas furnace is now no longer functioning (as a result of it being off for several hours). He informed me this was all a coincidence and it had nothing to do with him. Unless you want to spend more money, do not call this company - all they do is cause more problems.

McQuillan installed a water filter for us. The tall black cylinder is located in our basement laundry room and does not need to have a filter change for 10 years. Having this installed is probably the best thing I have ever done in our Mendota Heights home. The water is good and tastes better than any bottled water. No more driving to Sam Club and hauling bottled water home plus no more empty plastic bottles. And showering is better for our skin with chemicals and chlorine removed. If you are thinking about adding a water filter, do it. I wish I had done this years ago.

Absolutely terrible experience with these guys from start to finish. Dishonesty and lack of integrity riddled all parts of the process, from the initial inspection, to the sale, to the installation, and to the continued support aspects.
Inspection and sale:
We initially contacted Genz-Ryan during a heat wave towards the beginning of last summer, just as our previous AC unit was having issues. They inspected the unit and found that it was low on refrigerant. Since it was R22 refrigerant, they told us that they were legally not allowed to recharge it unless we purchased a new non-R22 unit and had an installation date set it (we spoke to a personal friend who is an HVAC professional after this case who told us that this is false). They said that they were willing to bend the rules to recharge the unit with R22, but that it would be very expensive (approaching $1000). When we asked for some time to process the decision, they told us two things: (1) that they could recharge the unit immediately for free, but ONLY if we immediately signed on to purchase a new unit, and (2) that if we didn't agree to purchase a new unit then we wouldn't be able to schedule installation for several weeks, but if we purchased it now then we could get it installed shortly. With the high heat and a non-functional AC, we felt pressured into purchasing the unit. The salesmen were slimy, but, as young and desperately warm new homeowners, we were too naive to realize it at the time. To top it off, the two salesmen tried to soften us up when they saw that we had a Bible verse sitting out, asking if we were Christians and then trying to build rapport by stating that they were also Christians and that they had just prayed before entering the house.
The sales information included very minimal details. It did not include the unit model number, the details of the warranty, or itemized expenses. It was simply a Basic/Standard/Gold package-type deal with mostly relative qualifiers (e.g. Standard is better/quieter than Basic). Prices seem to have been high. For our 1500 sq. ft. townhome unit, they convinced us to get the Standard package for $5147 for the AC and installation.
We felt gypped as soon as they left, but were still desperate to get AC with the heatwave, and they had already recharged the R22 for us, so we decided to see it through.
Installation:
The majority of the installation was fine. The installers seemed to work quickly and didn't have any major issues during the process, but we did notice after they left that they had taken and thrown away the cover for the furnace filter. This is unfortunate because we then had a significant ventilation leak into our furnace room. After calling Genz-Ryan to call them out on it, they did send the installers back to fabricate a makeshift replacement, but the replacement is sub-par and only mildly addresses the leak. It's basically a bit of scrap aluminum with two bends on either end -- not anywhere near the original cover which had all four sides tightly covered. There is still a significant leak here to this day.
Continued support:
Genz-Ryan offers a warranty which, on the surface, seems great. They claim that their can't write a check warranty will cover everything if anything goes wrong with the unit. The duration of the warranty is determined by the package that you get. Our warranty with the Standard package was for four years. However, as with all warranties, the terms of the warranty are extremely important. I have contacted Genz-Ryan more than five times asking for the terms of this warranty, and each time they have refused to provide them, saying that they have no documented terms. This makes me very uncomfortable, as I'll have nothing to protect myself with if they decide to claim that something is not covered by the warranty. I am completely at their mercy with the warranty.
My wife and I feel like we were tricked by Genz-Ryan several times throughout this process. Shame on us for not being wiser at the time. We will avoid Genz-Ryan in the future at virtually all costs.
