TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EVEN WORSE KNOWLEDGE!!!!
I was referred to Helton's from my home warranty company for repair of my mini split A/C unit. The first appointment, the technician was supposed to arrive between 8am and 11am. I made it clear to the scheduler that I had an appointment that could not be rescheduled at noon. The technician finally arrived at my home at 11:30am after several phone calls. He had zero knowledge of mini split systems and was not shy about admitting that (why would they send this tech in the first place?). He gave it a brief look over (seriously just a look. no touching or taking things apart) and said it seemed to be working fine. I asked several questions regarding the general operating system of this unit, all of which he was unable to answer. He then asked for a check.
Three days later, the compressor froze and spewed ice all over my room. My home warranty company again referred me to Helton's. I spoke with the scheduler and set up an appointment for the following day between 8am and noon. At 12:00, when I still hadn't heard from a tech, I called. I was told that they tried calling my home warranty company to let them know that they don't have any technicians with knowledge of mini split systems, but were on hold for too long so gave up. NO ONE FROM HELTON'S BOTHERED TO CALL ME (the customer) and inform me that my appointment had been cancelled and they would not be sending anyone out. RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE OF OTHER PEOPLE'S TIME.

Had a Lee Company check out my parents struggling AC unit. It seemed to be underperforming. Scheduled a visit then had to ask them to change the time.
No problem. They communicated the change of schedule and showed up on time. Greg, the technician, fully checked out my parent's unit and communicated to me his findings. He was great. The response and communication of this company is spot on. Everyone I talked to did what they said they would do. Can't recommend them enough. I had an issue with my side by side refrigerator and contacted Lee Company. I am so pleased with the readiness and quality of service shown and given in such a professional and timely manner! To their credit they were punctual and communicated when they would come out, which happened to be the same day. They had a 95 dollar service fee which a lot of places have but most other places roll that into the repair if they do the work, with Hoffman that is not the case. My review is based solely on pricing as Hoffman was more than double what other plumbers quoted me. I was given a thorough estimate that explained each option to repair my water heater. The cheapest option was to replace a valve and would have cost 400 dollars plus the 95 dollar service call. I called around because the quote to replace the water heater was 2100 which to me seemed a little high because a water heater is 500-700 dollars and I can't imagine it would be 1400 dollars in labor. The second and third quotes were both under a thousand to replace the water heater. I am not sure if Hoffman does good work or not but based on the very high pricing I would not use them. They were very communicative and came out the same day which was good, but again just way too expensive.

I learned a valuable lesson today. I scheduled an estimate to have a few new outdoor receptacles put in. When booking the appointment, they make you agree to a Service Call charge - even for a quote. Assuming their quote would be in line with other quotes I was getting, I agreed.
This should have been the first warning sign.
When the tech got there, he was polite. However, his estimate was way higher than others I've received. In addition, other electricians provided different installation options which will save me a considerable amount of money than the way they wanted to do the installation.
When I commented on how high the estimate was, he magically dropped the price a bit - but not that much. He told me he has to quote a certain way and has no control over it. This might be so the techs can't charge what the service should be and instead charge what the company wants.
So it appears their business model is to charge people to come give an estimate that is way too high so they don't have to do the work and still pocket the service call fee.

OVERCHARGES CUSTOMERS! I bought to install a new garbage disposal. When their plumber arrived I asked what the hourly rate was...$160/hr was the answer. So after only 40 minutes he told me it would be $325. WHAT I BALKED??? I thought I was on your annual plan....then he dropped the charge to $290.
After a week this disposal was too loud so I bought a quieter model & had JOSLIN PLUMBING do the new install for only $150.
RESULTS- I OVERPAID BY $140 by using LEE COMPANY!!

Called to report broken AC unit on 90 degree day. Lee came same day w 2 techs. Did complete check on both zones for obvious issues...all looked fine. Went to attic it was a clogged line. Vacuumed it out and and got the air cold. Went under house to check for drainage and see about any issues. Went above and beyond and had complete confidence in them as professionals and their no nonsense approach. Will use again for sure.

Saturday afternoon after Thanksgiving (holiday weekend of course) our heat pump stopped blowing air and of course the temperature was going to the 30's Sunday morning. The technician from Griffin returned my call in 15 minutes. While I was explaining the issue the heat came on so we decided to let it run hopefully until Monday. Sunday morning it wasn't working and smelled like something was burning. He was here within 30 minutes, discovered that the fan motor was burning out and the circuit breaker was hot and ready to burn. Sunday was cold. Sunday night was cold. Monday morning a tech was here with the new parts and had the heat back on before mid day.

I used Coolray for the first time Saturday, Joseph F came to service my heat/air pump. He was on time, explained everything in detail and even changed out my vent return free of charge! He was neat and very professional, I will request him every time. Joseph is a home grown young gentleman with skill and manners! Service scheduling was not only quick (they even had same day available) but flexible. The scheduling window was narrow -- they did not make me block out a 12 hour window during which they might arrive, but booked and arrived within a 30-minute window.

HA! last year Lee Company showed me a picture of my seriously rusty HVAC unit and said it would need to be replaced soon $$$$$. Being a procrastinator, I never got to it, but the system still worked.....FF, a different company came out this morning and showed me the actual unit, NO RUST, and it works just fine! I despise liars and would give this company a -5 if I could. SHAME ON YOU lee company!!

If you have money to just throw away go see Lee company. I bought my dad a new ceiling fan, so to take it down and put up the new fan on a 8 foot ceiling using a step stool to get to cost over 310 dollars for less than an hour of work. Thinking about become an electrician if that's the money there making. That is just the labor not including the fee to come to the house. Greed at its finest.
