On 11/10/20 I had a leaking pressure reduction valve. I contacted WAP & they said they would come & assess the problem. They arrived that afternoon stayed maybe 45 mins & assessed that I needed a pressure reduction valve & 2 gal expansion tank. Cost of parts was under $100 & my bill was $443.
After they left I began hearing all kinds of humming & squealing from my water pipes. I called the office & was initially told they could not come back until tomorrow. After I complained about concern of failure & potential water damage they agreed to return that evening.
About 6:45 Pm, John, (a supervisor), & Brandon a trainee returned. They were the same 2 here originally. They stayed until 9 Pm & thought it was fixed. John was so unprofessional & said I should have charged you more! John constantly screamed at his young trainee & was totally out of control. No masks, no removing shoes & I even had to supply towels to clean up their mess.
The next day I began hearing a high pitched whistle sound when I got a glass of water from the fridge. I figured it might be some air in the line or something unique to the fridge but then I checked the kitchen sink & laundry sink & heard the same shrill sound on 11/12/20.
11/13/20 I called WAP again because the high pitched whining was still happening. The receptionist agreed to have their techs come out between 3 & 5 Pm. I requested a different tech because of how rude & unprofessional John the Supervisor was but she said it had to be him.
John & Brandon arrived within the time frame & immediately John started with an attitude asking me what do you want now? I told him that I did not have any of these noises prior to him trying to fix my problem. John said we did what you asked & replaced the PRV & expansion tank. I told John that the obviously leaking PRV needed replaced & reminded him that both he & his office said he would assess the problem & tell me everything that needed repaired. On the initial visit John did nothing to pre-check or evaluate - he couldn't get in & out fast enough. I then asked John to listen while I turned on the water on my 2nd floor & the whining started. It was clear to hear & his helper admitted he heard it. John rushed up & began trying all the faucets etc & then claimed a dirty aerator on the 3rd floor master bath sink was causing the whining. I disagreed but said ok, let's take the aerator off & try the 2nd floor again. We did & it whined even louder than before. John claimed he didn't hear it, but again his helper admitted he heard it clearly. I asked John why he was trying to lie to me & not fix the total problem as he was responsible for? John then stomped downstairs & began taking off the expansion tank, then the PRV & went out to his van. John returned to my door with my old original parts in hand & said we're going to put these back on & we are done. I told him I had bought the parts he took off & I wanted them back & he refused saying I could stop payment on my check. The check was written 3 days prior & already cashed by WAP. I called the office & the manager called me back saying she would not return the parts I bought nor refund the money they had already stole from us.
About an hour later I was able to get Sturm Plumbing from Harrison City to respond to the mess WAP had left us in with open pipes & no water. Sturm quickly & efficiently actually ASSESSED the problem & had it repaired by 6 Pm. The solution was replacing the OBVIOUS missing PRV & expansion tank. However, the very professional Sturm tech asked why WAP had not replaced the check valve? Upon re-piping & installing the check valve & PRV he showed me a plumbing tape that was partially obscuring the line adjacent to the PRV & check valve. 2ndly, Sturm set the water pressure to 63 psi & then pressurized the new expansion tank to 51.5 psi BEFORE he installed it. I mentioned that John from WAP had got smart with me when I asked why he did not set the pressure on the expansion tank prior to install? Literally John & Brandon tried for 20-30 mins to pressurize the tank while it was connected to the system with sweat running off of them. When Sturm finished we tried everything & walah! No noise, no humming & no whining.
So now I suppose I lost $443 to WAP & after reading their reviews & BBB complaints I can't believe I hired them. As a person who has worked in Quality Control for over 30 years I can't believe the lack of knowledge John had & I feel bad that his trainee Brandon had to take his abuse & be taught inadequately.
We've asked for our money back & been told to stop payment on our check but our bank PNC says its already cleared however WAP says we have to wait 15 days? I suppose I can write many more reviews in the next 15 days. Speak to my coworkers at the Attorney Generals Office. File my small claims request with my local magistrate including the additional $783 I had to pay Sturm to clean up WAP's mess after hours. For certain a thorough BBB complaint
