Found Sullivan plumbers on HomeAdvisor. I had a backed up drain, Ryan got it unclogged quickly. Jared came later and used camera to check and show me what had caused problem. Gave me options. Was pleased with work done. Efficient and fair price for work done. Thank you

Glenn was very thorough giving his estimate and gave several payment options. Sullivan isn't the cheapest nor the most expensive. Sullivan had a crew out two days later to replace the furnace. The guys were professional, efficient, and friendly. They showed us everything they did, explained how the humidifier works, and cleaned up before they left. I would recommend them.
I called on a Friday to see if someone could come to my house for an estimate on a new A/C unit. The very nice lady on the phone made an appointment for the following Monday evening at 7:30 pm, and I was looking forward to meeting the guy because she sounded so professional!
Guess what, nobody came.
I received a phone call 2 days later from the home sales guy, apologizing and asking if he could come the next Monday at the same time. Fair enough. People make mistakes. He came to the house and was very thorough and knowledgeable. He said He would follow up and I would be receiving an estimate.
About 2 weeks later, after not hearing from anyone, I called them because I had not received any estimate, let alone a phone call. A man called me that evening to give me a quote over the phone. I was unavailable so he left me a Vmx. I called him back and requested that I get the quote in writing, which I think is a valid request when you're about to spend a few or couple thousand on a new A/C unit, and I never heard from anyone again. And it's been about 2 weeks since I left the message.
Wow. I cannot believe the level of service from this company. I'm shocked ! You'd think that a local company, which I was happy to support, would appreciate your business, but I certainly did not feel that way at all.
We called for an estimate and they were unprofessional, and very rude. I recommend finding another plumber with a better reputation.

I purchased my boiler through Sullivan Service, only because they offered financing. I had years of good experience with them, until this year. I have an annual inspection on my boiler. This time the technician recommended I purchase a new hot water tank. I thought that was odd because I replaced my old hot water tank 8 years ago, and my current tank was not giving me any issues and still wirks as new. I then asked him to take a look at our toilet. I had been worried because it wouldn't stop running unless you vigorously jiggled the handle. If someone forgets, it could overflow. He recommended I completely replace the toilet for approximately $1,000. I decided against it. Good thing because the only actual issue was the handle needed tightened. That's right, I fixed the toilet in less than a minute, spending $0, and 7 months later... still no issues. I had been a loyal customer for years, and that is how they treated me. I have zero respect for this company. They are not loyal to repeat customers, they just want to gouge your wallets. Unless you literally want to throw money down your drain, do not use this company. Zero stars, 100% con.
We had a waterline break at our Condo and since we have used Sullivan's before I called the office and Maureen was very helpful. The break was taken care of in a timely manner everything neatly put back in place. Rory explained everything to us, everyone at Sullivan's are very professional if we have anymore problems with heating, plumbing or cooling we will always deal with Sullivan's! A family owned business!
Thanks again Maureen, Rory, Brad and Jess!
Prompt and knowledgeable. I thought my mini splits needed charged, but they didn't. Bob was able to show this to me by attaching a gage to the system. It's actually working just fine now after I shut the whole system down for a day and restarted it. I'm now thinking it is probably a matter of reprogramming the app on my phone as it is working against the hand remotes.
Terrible customer service, scheduled drain cleaning on a Friday for the next Monday (line was totally backed up but since it was a $64 special we waited), They called on Monday morning saying they don't service my area. Nice to leave customer in a bind!

I had water backing up in my basement and because I used Sullivan in the past, I called them. They assessed that I needed to replace a broken housetrap on the outside. The description called for a 'usage of a machine' for the price of $800. A machine was never brought in to dig. It was done by two 20-year olds. When I called it to the attention of the tech, he said that is for insurance purposes. OK, so you're ripping off my insurance company. The job cost $4,000. The tech said he would bring the camera and see if any more work needed to be done, which he did not bring that day. Never showed up twice after that either. Five days later I receive an estimate for a 'broken lateral' which I am now told would be an additional $20,000. So some very important information to note that I found out after the fact.......Sullivan Super Service WORKS ON COMMISSION. You know what that means. As far as I'm concerned these guys are just as bad as Gillece!

Took a chance on this company based on Angies list. A guy came , very nice but also very slick. He not only told me that he cannot do my job because it would take too much time (Install a faucet) but he also said it would cost me $600 to install it. A classic example of bait and switch. Avoid, avoid .. and don't believe all Angies list reviews..

They advertise a $64.50 sewer service opening or free, it sounded great. However this really is a come on to get in the door for alot more money. I had them out, Greg and another tech , they spent two hours putting on a big show, trying to open a main line, walking around with what reminded me of a metal detector, the had walkie talkies, real big show, then they said their equipment was not working right , could not narrow down the problem, really acted like they had no clue... and then only to jump ship when they could not figure anything out, and left me with terrible back up in main sewer , They mentioned a $64.50 charge, but agreed when I reminded them it did not open and was supposed to be free as per Jamie the receptionist, then Greg said that yes it was free... after I reminded him... Later that day Sullivan Super emailed me a $4850.00 bid for an exploratory service charge with no warranty or guarantee. Basically a dig and look around, with no promise of anything. Who would do that ? They must think this was my first time I ever had a problem and was in the total dark. I would never call them for anything again. Wasted my time, zero results.... all done to sell a large $$ job. I moved on a found a professional company that solved it.
Way over priced and suboptimal quality. We had one air conditioner die within about 7 years, which Sullivan acknowledged was due to a problem with the installation which they had done. They gave only a small discount.
Recently they did $1,200 service on our 18 year old air conditioner. A month later, it wasn't working. It turned out they wired something backwards. I got an estimate to replace it. They gave us a $1,200 discount for what we had just paid, and a $1,000 discount for being a member ($42 a month to qualify for emergency service). Their bid was $7,000 for a Lenox Concord unit, made by Lenox but not under Lenox name. I got a bid from a competitor who was recommended. They gave a price of $4,100 Lennox brand unit with their full warranty. They provide full service including emergency service, with no service contract cost. I cancelled my contract with Sullivan!
The service man & phone person were very nice. Way over priced. I was quoted $4200. Got the job done for$500. Want to warn others.
The service has been fast and thorough. They do a great job and get everything done right and in a timely fashion. Highly recommended!

Jennell: Thank you for responding but my home AC unit is still working fine. As far as the Duquesne Light goes I have an insurance rider thru Duquesne light that I call ( phone number is on the bill)when I have an issue--- that company then calls a repair company to address the problem.

We found Sullivan Service on Angies List.
Wife and I just bought a house here in Pittsburgh that needed a lot of work.
We called Sullivan to give us an estimate on replacing the main stack in the house as it was leaking.
Some one came over the next day to give us an estimate and give us our options.
The estimate seemed fair and told them to go ahead.
Brandon and his crew came over and tore up the basement were the stack is and replaced it from the sewer line all the way to the first floor.
Then I decided to also have all the water lines in the entire basement replaced as most of the valves were corroded and did not shut off, Some were even leaking.
Brandon and his crew did amazing work and worked very clean.
We will be using them to replace our heating and cooling system as soon as our basement is repaired.
I highly recommend Sullivan for all your plumbing and heating and cooling needs.
Brandon and his crew did amazing work and were very professional.

I have an old house with several exterior drains that the gutters/downspouts feed into that have been clogged since I bought the place 5 years ago. I contacted them as the plumbing company that I use increased their hourly rates, and I was looking for an alternative. They came on time, and were pleasant. Unfortunately, the pipes were apparently clogged for a very long time, and had rusted inside. They were unable to clear ANY of the 7 drains, yet I was still charged almost $600 dollars for what was just under 2 hours of their time (I was at the property the entire time). In addition, they said that they would email me an estimate for installing all new drainage pipes, and if I hired them to do that, they would subtract the $592.00 that they charged me. I never received that estimate. When I called them to schedule the appointment initially, the girl on the phone was disappointed to find out that I heard about them through AngiesList. Now I think that I know why. They do not charge by the hour, but instead, by the job. I can accept that they were unable to do the job, but $600 for a job that was not successful, and for only 2 hours of work by one man is extrememly pricey to me, and the lack of follow up was unprofessional. I will never use them again.
Excellent customer service, honest pricing, and expert advice. We've been using Sullivan Super Service for years. If you want the job done right, this is the company for you. They are truly invested in doing right by their customers and aim to build a longterm relationship with you. Their sewer manager Scott is incredibly knowledgable and forthright with his estimates. It's clear that the guys on staff love working together as a team. Plus, we love that FOUR generations of Sullivans have worked for this company! Keep up the good work.
this is one of the worst pluming companies that we have ever used they did
not tell us that they want through a different contractor for
demolition it's taken two months to finish the job that still isn't done
they said they had to replace the ice dispenser hoes
for a hole that wasn't there till after demo and
charged us more money for it they said they couldn't fix
the ice dispenser when it stopped working because of what
ever they did the garbage disposal was not
hooked up for over a month and the pipe was not caped for
the garbage disposal and we started to get bugs because of it
there demolition company were not on the same page with the payments
they were saying we owed them more money when they
were payed there were things that they said they could do
and didn't fallow throw with it and our counter tops are falling
off the wall because they had to use heating fan's to get ride of
black mold and DID NOT put ANYTHING under them to holed them up after
taking the cabinets out that now need to be replaced and there customer
service sucks I WOLD NEVER EVER REFER ANYONE TO THIS COMPANY..

Friendly and professional. I like how they wear shoe covers in my house. They do a good job scheduling and notifying you ahead of your appointment.
They installed a new high-efficiency furnace in our house on 3/11/2010. The cost to us was $5,393.00.
**** revised review 2/26/15 ******
My original review, which resulted in a 1 rating (excepting for responsiveness and punctuality, where I gave them an 5 rating) appears below; since then Bob from the company visited me (2/25/15) and saw the defective installation; he apologized several times and took full responsibility; he made measurements and came up with a fix that they will install on 3/5/15; basically they will replace - at no charge - the outlet HVC ducting from the furnace to the house input duct with a T connector. The connector will be flexible near the furnace end, so the furnace operation does not create vibrations, which is probably the reason why the connection to the house duct opened up after 5 years (see below for comment on vibration problem). The reason I gave them an overall 3 rating is because this should never have happened in the first place; few senior citizens would be able to inspect near inaccessible areas of the ducting to find the source of the problem; also they have not offered to compensate me for the money I have been wasting over the past 5 years on my heating bills; Since they accepted responsibility I have changed my view on using them in the future; yes, I do intend to used them in the future.
**** original review posted approx. 2/21/15 ************
The installation appeared to go fine, and I felt good about it; their price was near the high end, almost twice some of the other quotes, but the product appeared to be good, and I had used them in the past for minor plumbing issues, to which they were quite responsive. The real problem appeared five years after installation. Please read on:
Over the years, while the furnace appeared to be working fine, we kept getting notices during the winter months from our utility company that we were using more power than comparable neighbors. This was in spite of the fact that we lowered the temperature to 72 when the house was occupied and to 58 when it was not occupied, or we were sleeping. This past week, during the cold spell, the furnace could barely maintain 72 degrees even though it was on continuously. While we got some flow to the first floor vents, there was very little flow at the second floor vents.
Yesterday, 2/20/15, I found on inspection of the furnace that there was a visible gap (about 2) between the furnace forced air heat outflow duct and the main house HVAC duct. I could literally feel the hot air escaping from this gap into the basement. In other words the forced-air from the furnace was escaping into the basement, even before it had a chance to heat the house. This appears to explain the problems we are experiencing with using too much power and inability to maintain a modest temperature in the winter with a high efficiency furnace, and the low flow level at the second floor vents.
Comment on vibration problem
Prior to this, about 3 months ago, I felt hot air leaking out at the ductwork connection near the furnace. I used HVAC (metallic) tape to try to stop these leaks. I did not see the big leak at that time. Also I had to use a wedge mechanism to prevent the vibration from the furnace from affecting the humidifier (the humidifier was literally being shaken loose).
I have picture and receipts to support all these statements.
Awesome as always! Samantha is always friendly and helpful over the phone. Don came out originally to check out our boiler. He explained everything clearly and showed me the numbers for the carbon monoxide leak. Then Glenn came out. He did his thing and then took the time to go over the options with me. He figured out another option when the one I originally wanted seemed out of my price range. He also was helpful with payment options.
Shaun and Caleb came today and installed our new boiler! They were prompt and efficient. As always with Sullivan Super Service, Shaun and Caleb were friendly and very professional. Just two really nice guys that are good at their jobs! They made sure that I knew what was going on and went over everything with me before they left.
I trust Sullivan Super Service and my husband and I have used them for about five years now. They have excellent service. Their work is outstanding!
We have been having plumbing issues, with money pretty tight we were looking for anyone. Sullivan for only 64$ (a weekday price) 2 guys came out, one for snaking the drain and the other for putting a camera in there. Both guys were super knowledgable and gave us the rundown of our issues. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone!

Having interior sewer issues and asked Sullivan to come out for a second opinion. Matt arrived on time and was incredibly helpful. He asked a lot of questions to really understand the issues and then provided quotes for a few options, including one I hadn't thought of. Very professional and definitely a good representative of the company. The quote was higher than one I've received elsewhere but the professionalism may still get them my business.
Tonight, we came home to frozen pipes in our Squirrelhill townhouse. It was, needless to say, a rather major inconvenience/problem. luckily, I gave Sullivan a call after someone at southside plumbing hung up on me, and there were some Squirrelhill plumber that wasn't able to help me. I made a call at 4:30 and spoke with Amy, at Sullivan, and she was able to schedule us this evening. Our service man/plumber arrived in the early evening and was able, with quite a bit of time, to clear to freeze in the service line. It took about 2 1/2 hours and once it was done, we were very relieved. If it wasn't going to work, we would've had to call a welding company to do it for us. We're very thankful that we got this done in short time and with very minimal inconvenience to our family. Although it was not cheap, it was done properly and I will say that Brandon was a very nice man and very diligent.

I'd rather not have to call a plumber.
If we're being honest, I don't think any of us want to call plumbers. Not just because of the potential cost (for which Sullivan was reasonably priced); rather, it means something's gone terribly wrong and we can't use our 20th Century Modern Miracles, like plumbing. (Ignoring that plumbing's actually much older; we just made sure it was really widespread last century.)
For my case, the shower in my second floor bathroom decided to stop draining. After running my own auger its complete length down the drain and not discovering any blockages, I had two options: 1. Rig up my shopvac to pump the waste water into an open drain on a lower floor or 2. Call someone.
Sullivan was my first choice because they're local, and having met some of them around town, they seem decent.
Good news! They're decent!
After arranging an appointment for the following day, I received a call the morning of (today, 12/11/13) to let me know Brad was on his way. 10 minutes later, Brad was at my door and ready to inspect.
Within moments, we had two plans of action: a heavier augering and a removal of the toilet to get at the drain stack. The price was non-cumulative, so if augering didn't work, its cost was simply rolled into the more expensive toilet removal.
Downside: I needed my toilet removed and the drain stack heavily augered.
Upside: Brad removed the toilet while waiting on a coworker, and the two of them cleared the drain of some root growth and replaced everything in the span of approximately two hours.
I'd rather not have to call anyone for any plumbing in the near future (or any future; this is the 21st Century and our Modern Miracles should Just Work), but if I have to, it'll be Sullivan.

Just moved to Pittsburgh and going through the anxiety of finding reliable contractors and repair services. I hit the jackpot with Sullivan Super Service. I've had them out twice for different issues; technicians are very knowledgeable and friendly, and work professionally and neatly. No annoying attempts to sell you services you don't need but pointed out some issues that I might want to consider addressing in the future. Also very flexible in working with my difficult schedule. Both Bob A and Brandon are great!

I have been on an annual maintenance plan with this company, and on an 'as needed basis' (my term, not theirs), and they never come when you schedule them. When you take off work, or change your schedule to when they are available and they still can't make it, who would want or pay for that inconvenience? I stopped being an annual maintenance customer because of it. Decided to give them a second chance for their advertised low-cost $79 furnace check-up. You guessed it. After a no-show at the appointed time, with no call of coming on the horizon, I had to cancel to attend to other things I could control and get accomplished. If you can't provide timely services, get out of a service economy. Please, there are many smaller, responsible family businesses that can thrive with the work this business ignores. Patronize one of them instead.
Matt was great! Very professional, courteous and personable. He inspected the furnace and let me know what condition it was in. He also looked around the basement for leaks and any other potential plumbing and heating problem and wrote up a report with recommendations. Since I have a service account with Sullivan, there was no charge for the visit. I would certainly use this company again, and have recommended them to others.

I had a great experience with Sullivan today. They gave me lots of information to help me make my decision. They have modern tools and knowledgeble service technicians who can help in diagnosing and resolving problems.
Brandon was very professional as he logically moved through resolving and fixing my problem.
You might consider their service contract, which includes an annual inspection.
Friendly and good service.
Came the day i called.
4 hour job.
Told me i could shower before the caulk was cured. Lost a star for that.
I called the next morning and they came back around noon and fixed it. So kudos on the customer service.

The plumber Brandon arrived promptly and the repair was done quickly. Brandon was very courteous and explained everything l, so I knew the price and what to expect before he began. I called Tuesday afternoon and had my problem fixed by Wednesday morning. The price was also reasonable. We're glad to have our sink working again and we will use Sullivan's services in the future
I have a mixed review. Had two service visits recently. One was for a gas line installation for a dryer. That job went very well. The installation was neat and clean and the technician was professional. The other job was for drain cleaning. Not so great. Thought the $64 special offer would cover it, it didn't not even come close. Very Misleading. Anyway, the laundry drain was cleared but the technicians did not clean up a trail of cleaning chemicals/water on the basement floor and used our pail and left it dirty with chemicals.
I'm sure that this business is very competent and I have no reason to doubt that they are based on the serviceman I met last week. My issue with Sullivan is the prices! Our pump went bad on our boiler and we called Sullivan based on a friend's recommendation. The part is around $150 and the job takes less than an hour's time. Sullivan quoted us $1600 AFTER the guy was already in my basement and working on the heater. When we balked at the price, he dropped it to $600 with a lesser warranty on the part. The whole boiler costs $1,500 to replace. I thanked them for their time, paid the consultation fee and called another plumber.
Can't say enough about this company. First class all around. I have a rental unit in Forest Hills. Naturally, our furnace went out on the coldest day of the year this past winter... and I was on the other side of the country on vacation at the time. Did a quick Google search to try to find a trustworthy company and I hit the jackpot with this one. One phone call and the ball was rolling. Service agent was at the house momentarily to assess the situation. The manager was there not long after to confirm the need for a new unit (which we knew was inevitable and had expected about 5 years ago). They filled the house with space heaters to keep the pipes from freezing. Made phone calls to ask other regularly scheduled appointments if they could trade work dates to give us a higher priority given the situation. The final price included the cost of the emergency assessment and was well below what I was expecting to pay for the unit. Thankful to have them on board and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a service company.
What I thought was going to be a quick drain unclog turned into needing a new sewer line. From the first techs to arrive to the finished installation took 5 days. They worked with me on the cost which was much appreciated since this was not a cheap fix. They came out on a Saturday to finish the work before the long holiday weekend and worked 3 very long days to finish the job. Thomas was great at explaining everything to me as he worked. I asked for a bush that needed to be moved for digging to be put back. They were so respectful of that and took great care to remove the bush and they put it back in an even better spot for me. I really appreciated that as some might not have cared about a silly bush. I couldn't have had a better experience. Would highly recommend.

I was in a bad spot, and Sullivan Super Service did a great job.
They are professional, affordable, clean, and fast.
It is clear us that we made the right choice, and the best part was that the job was done right the 1st time.
We had our sewer back up, and Sullivans was there within 2 hours, the guys were very professional and genuinely wanted to help me, the price was more than fair , it's never fun when these things happen but I'm glad I called Sullivans when it did happen.
I have been very pleased with the service of Sullivan and in particular today. Glenn came to my house to do a check up on my two new furnaces and even asked how I was doing because I had shared with him the loss of my husband The fact that he remembered sends a message that the company is genuinely concerned with their customers. He is always very professional and explains in detail what the dilemma might be and how it can be fixed. More importantly for me is that he is very caring and is interested in having a trusting and professional relationship with his customers.

A complete disaster. Bathtub and toilet were draining very slowly so we figured there was clog somewhere so we called Sullivan on a Wednesday. They came right out, which was great. Unfortunately, Jordan and another guy came and wasn't able to clear the clog. Said we had a broken pipe in the yard (which we now highly suspect was not true and was just a clogged line). Paid over $5,000 to have the line dug up and clogged cleared. They were out the next day on Thursday to dig the yard. The digger Rob and his guy were great. They seem to be the only ones at Sullivan who know what they are doing. Dug up and replaced the broken pipe but didn't clear the clog.
Friday, Jordan was back out and made everything worse. After he tried clearing the clog, the tub would no longer drain at all. He left with a foot of water in the tub saying it should drain. What?!? It never did so we contacted him before lunch that same Friday. His answer...he'll send another technician...on Monday. So we had to do with not be able to use the water over the weekend. Thanks. Two other Sullivan technicians came out Monday and couldn't do a thing. That's 4 plumbers or technicians over 6 days that couldn't clear it. Then the worthless Jordan calls Tuesday and recommends calling another plumber to fix it. What did we pay you over $5000 for???
So we called A-1 Seware Cleaning Specialists - they came out the same day and cleared the clog in less than 10 minutes (and confirmed that sullivan likely completely clogged up the pipe trying to clear the slow drain). Probably didn't even have to do the digging and pipe replacement if we would have just called A1 first.....
If you have a plumbing issue, do yourself DO NOT CALL SULLIVAN. Sullivan might be good at hvac, we don't know one way or the other but we do know that they are not good with plumbing. So bad that I can't imagine they do much well. How do you finish a job that you were paid thousands for by saying, you need to call a better plumber?
