2) they do their best to make sure that their service is *actually* what you need before scheduling.
3) they get back to you when they say they're going to.
Says a lot... Bravo Andy's!

A big fan of Andy as this is my second or third time using him.  Called him up this time to take out a defunct garbage disposal we no longer wanted in our house and re-pipe the kitchen sink underneath.  Came within a day and completed the job for a more reasonable price than the other estimates.

A few of my neighbors on the block have had a bad experience with these guys never coming out after saying they would, not returning calls, or taking their money without fixing problems and then ghosting.

This parts more disturbing...

These guys are doing work on my block for a convicted pedophile who just served 10 years in prison. They are super buddy buddy with him which makes me think they've known him/ knows what he's done and are cool with it. Do not let people like this into your house especially if you have children.

Overheard some racist comments from the guys doing the work on pedophiles house while out walking my dog, despite having a diverse crew. Disgusting and unacceptable.

Andy is reliable, professional and on time. He is considerate of your time and is as flexible as can be. My air went out on a Saturday,I waited until Mon for his services, THERE is no one else that I trust. He takes his time in a methodical manner to diagnose  the problem, not guess! On the day of assessment he ordererd the part for my central air while in my home. As soon as the part came in he was back and installed the motor.I trust and value his professional  input . A1 service should be part of his name!

Nice guy. Friendly, approachable. Followed COVID-19 protocol, but no call back. NOTHING!

If someone doesn't want to perform work, that's fine. I completely understand that sometimes that happens with contractors. Sometimes you don't have the personnel or the time to take on certain projects. No issue there.

However, to leave a family hanging is not very professional. This was an emergency in our eyes and we clearly communicated that.

Andy came and left.

No call. Nothing.

Hate to see it.

Excellent fast, reliable and reasonably priced business. Andy and his crew replaced a garbage disposal, installed a magnificent kitchen faucet and adjusted my water heater. They did a fantastic job and were extremely friendly and professional. If you call them with an emergency, they will get back to you, unlike other plumbing businesses.

They did a great job unclogging my tub drain but didn't return my calls the next time I called to have someone come out to give me an estimate for a bathroom gut and redo.  Unprofessional.  Very disappointed.

I googled pluming company's and Andy's had good reviews. Sadly, I didn't see the multiple complaints about them not calling back. I set my appointment, the tech came and found where my leak was coming from. Took my number and name and said he would be calling me for an estimate later that day or the following day. We had a small conversation and he even told me about a retired coworker who took advantage of the elderly. Said he couldn't imagine going to bed at night knowing he did someone dirty. Two days had passed and I didn't get a call from them. So I followed up 3 times from Friday to Tuesday and no return call. So instead of being honest and saying he didn't want to do the job for whatever reason he faked as if he would take care of it. That's some punk sh*t and he's such a loser for being fake. Now I have to waste more time searching and making appointments with other companies to fix my problem. Maybe my job was too small for them and they are just greedy looking for money making jobs! Thanks Losers!

Absolutely amazing! Quick professional and priced right! Didn't try to sell me extra and got my heat going fast!! I will definitely be using his services again!!

If you need a plumber call Andy. I paid $1000 over six months to have a continuing leak in my bathroom repaired. On the third leak i switched fixed plumbers and called Andy. He quickly diagnosed the problem, which was simple, and fixed it for a far lower price, a more than reasonable price. I don't know Andy I only know that if I need a plumber I will only call him, I suggest you do the same. Don't waste your money the way I did! He didn't even charge to come out and evaluate the problem! Call ANDY!

I read some reviews about how they don't get back to you, but also some that were decent when they did do work so I decided to give them a try. Regretfully, the former was true for me. They did come out for an estimate, and I gave them the go ahead but they never returned to do the job even after I made two follow up calls. Annoying, but I was warned.
And now I warn you.

Andy's Plumbing and Heating is the best around town , as he came to my rescue after 3 Days of no A/C in 90 degree temperatures. Andy showed up as promised (during a very busy time and hot temperatures) quickly repaired my A/C and gave me a fair price. This man is extremely honest and I am recommending him highly. Once again another great job by Andy's. I was able to get a plumber out next-day for a non-emergency. This time John came out to install a dishwasher. He was polite and professional. He was also friendly and upbeat about the work. He cleaned up his own mess which I really appreciate. Some of the other plumbers in the neighborhood seem to think mom is going to do it!  I had a question after John left and got a call back in only a few minutes. I can't imagine it gets better unless you find a plumber who loads the dirty dishes too!

These guys are fantastic!  On two separate occasions I had two different plumbing emergencies.  Both times their response time was quick, they were open and honest about what was going on, and even keep the mood light to keep me calm.  An added bonus is that Andy's prices are very reasonable.

I would hands down call these guys again and recommend them to anyone.

You can trust Andy to do a good job at a fair price.  Honest, reliable, straight shooter. What more can you ask for? Got him on speed dial.

These guys are great! Came out to give me an estimate to replace my vanity, and were able to do the job the following week. It wasn't an emergency so that worked perfectly for me. The plumber that came out to do the work was extremely professional and very nice. He did a fantastic job, and my wife and I are very happy. I had very old plumbing and wasn't up to the task of changing it all out myself. The work did not take long and he cleaned up and took the vanity with him. I highly recommend and will use again.

10pm on a Monday flood at the house!. The trusty never touched water heater in my finished basement from 2003 finally popped, in Manayunk. 7am Tuesday onward, calls to (3) different local recommended plumbers and Home Depot's service. Andy was the only one to return my call, could be to the house in an hour, and was there on time. In minutes, had a proper recommendation, answered my random but what about... questions, and even told me skip the added warranty. I'm on the road 24/7, and Andy had my old tank out, a new larger tank installed, everything reset, and back to functioning immediately. Terrific service, always responsive, and handled. Will be back, and highly recommend. Pricing, speed, and responsiveness, all local. Thanks again!

I have used Andy's plumbing twice and they run a good honest business.   Communication goes through a messaging service and Andy get's back to you quickly.  Came out and took care of business both times.

Our AC broke, and we simply called them around 8pm and got a return call within a few minutes. Turns out they weren't able to come for 2 days, but they were able to walk us through how to fix it ourselves over the phone (turns out the fuse blew out) and saved us a bunch of time and money. We will definitely be calling these guys when we need a bigger job done!!

They came and fixed a pipe in our house in September of 2017 and took our card information for payment.  We had forgotten or assumed money was taken out of our account for the services.  APRIL 2018 (7 months later) Andy's plumbing finally charges our account for the services!  Our account overdrafted because we had just paid the mortgage!  Horrible business that should not be able to hold onto card information for as long as they did and not charge for services for as long as they did.  Horrendous! STAY AWAY!!

We have used Andys plumbing 4 or 5 times over the past 4 years or so and have always had pretty good service.
We recently needed some work done at a rental property, Andy came out to diagnose the issue, wrote us an estimate and never returned our call (even after 3 attempts to reach him) to schedule the work! Thankfully we were referred to another plumber by a friend of ours and our $1500 would have been bill turned into a $450 bill!!!
I guess I should be thankful but Andy ultimately wasted a bunch of our time waiting to hear back from him. We will not use him again.

I was having a BBQ and of course the day of my sinks became clogged and of course everything I tried didn't work...by luck there was an andys plumbing truck at a neighbors house...went over and explained the situation in in minutes another plumber was out and fixed the clog!! Fair pricing as well!!!

We called about a blocked kitchen drain at 9:00 pm. The next morning, Andy's Plumbing was at my house. Andy and his partner were very polite and thorough. They estimated that the job would take 30 minutes and it was right on time. They charged a fair price for the service, and I would recommend them to anyone. Great work, and great people!

Here's my experience with Andy's Plumbing. It's a long story but the more i tell you, the better decision you can make and what to expect when you call. So, we've had them do small plumbing jobs for us in the past, ex...leaky or cracked pipes, kitchen sink, inspections, hot water heater, basic plumbing issues, etc...
We found, the prices are reasonable, they're fast and that they do pretty good work, WHEN YOU CAN GET THEM TO OUT! We've been calling them and calling them to come out and give us an estimate on what was once a small job, but has now become, in my eyes, an emergency. They came out about 3 months ago to survey the situation and give us an estimate. They said they'd call us back with a quote and from there we would be able to make an appointment. Cause one of the guys were on vacation or they had a graduation or something personal going on...whatever, i figured, I'd have an idea on how much the damage would cost to repair and/or replace our problem in a couple days. Well, IT'S BEEN WEEKS and we haven't heard from them. The last time we heard from them, was when they finally called us back to make an appointment. Never gave us an estimate. So, i took off from work that day because they said they would be here sometime between 1 and 3pm. Welp, they never showed. I was f'n pissed!
We keep trying to call them, we always get their voicemail hoping they call back with an estimate and a time they'd be over, but to no avail. Never called me back, never showed up.
Either they are THAT BUSY, they can't do the job or they DON'T WANT to do the job because it's more than what they can handle.
My problem was the loyalty i always had with Andy's Plumbing. That was my mistake. And because of my loyalty to Andy's services and his company putting me on the back burner, my problem has become more bigger, more expensive and more damaging. 3 months have now gone by and they STILL haven't got back to me, so we're taking our business elsewhere from now on.
I don't know how this company stays in business, to be honest!  NEVER AGAIN ANDY!

Fantastic service from John and Andy. They are very responsive after you leave a message with their phone calling center. They called me back a few minutes after I left a message at 7:00 PM to replace my gas water heater. They also took the old 40 gallon tank out from my basement with no problems and worked with the manufacturer to get a replacement tank under the warranty. Exceptional speed and customer service. Highly recommended using them if you have plumbing and/or heating issues.

I cannot comment on their service, so my 1 star rating does not apply to their actual workmanship. What happened was I came home to a wet spot in my kitchen ceiling, directly below the upstairs bathroom. I'm a first time homeowner, I have no clue about any of this stuff. After a quick Yelp search, I called Andy's. My call was routed to an answering service. I was told I'd receive a call shortly. Andy did call me within the hour and I explained what was going on, and he said he would try to squeeze me in the following afternoon. I felt that the problem would be okay until then, but I woke up this morning to a leaking ceiling and a soaked floor.  My problem has become a 100% EMERGENCY. I called Andy back, hoping to get an answer to let him know I'm free all day and hoping he could come out. No answer, so I'm like okay I'll just leave a voicemail. Well, his voicemail box is full, I can't leave a message. He tells you to call their main number, so I call it. It doesn't ring, I get a message that the number is out of service.

I had to choose another local plumber immediately (I could not wait around hoping for a miraculous call back) and half a day later my leaky problem has been addressed. Sorry we couldn't make it work, Andy's, but communication is key and if I can't get a hold of you, I can't pay you.

These guys are great. First, they have a reliable phone operator who relays accurate messages. Also when I was price shopping for a faucet installation, John could not have been nicer, or more honest. He came by, did great work at a reasonable price. Oh - that was AFTER he pointed out that perhaps buying the sink on my own may be less expensive.
Great work and great service are supposed to go hand in hand, and these guys have plenty of expertise in delivering both!

Andy's is my go-to for any plumbing issues. It's easy to schedule an appointment (calling is your best bet), and the service on site is top notch. I've had Andy come out for ridiculously minor issues as well as emergencies and he's been a huge help each time. It's such a relief to know I have someone to call if needed!

I left a message late last night at Andy's Plumbing & Heating because I noticed a wet spot on my kitchen ceiling.  Since my kitchen is directly below the bathroom, I figured that there was a leak.  

John and Freddie called me around a quarter to 9 and arrived less than 20 minutes later.  They quickly identified the toilet sealant as the culprit and resealed it in about 20 minutes.  They didn't mind me watching and asking questions while they did the job, so I could learn about these things myself.  In addition to their responsiveness, professionalism, and reasonable price, they gave me a 2 year warranty in case the toilet leaks again.  They cleaned up after themselves and were very friendly.  I paid with a check so I'm not sure if they accept credit cards.

I would use Andy's Plumbing & Heating again!

So I wake up one morning to find that it's a chilly 60 degrees in my house..turns our the heater hasn't kicked on in two days. We had never had any issues with the heater despite it being quite old, so I was unsure of where to turn. I found Andy's on Yelp and decided to give them a call.

I called and got the answering service and told them what was going on. The next day (I called on a Sunday) someone called me back and set up to come out only a short couple of hours later. They came out and took a look and called Andy to come out and look. The part we needed was obsolete but Andy managed to find it. The part came in and a couple of days later Andy came back to fix it.

I will certainly call them again for any of my Heating/Plumbing needs. Kind and knowledgeable! Highly recommend!

John was the plumber who came to our home. He was immediately about his business, cheerful and informative. He cleared our drains quickly and gave me an estimate on further requested work. I won't be calling anyone else next time. This experience was the best.

I called Andy's Plumbing to get a quote for a new boiler. Andy responded quickly and was able to come out the same week to look at my current boiler and basement set up. He said he would call with a quote in a few days. After a week, I called to see if the quote was ready. I was told someone would call me back. I got a call from one of the plumbers from the company with a quote for the wrong customer. He said Andy would call me back the next day. I called and left a few messages, but never heard back.

I had Andy come out due to a clog in our kitchen sink. He showed up on time and even came before his normal working hours to accommodate his busy schedule. He was nothing but professional throughout the process and informed me about not only the sink but also the plumbing throughout the house. He completed the work in a timely manner, and the clog is long gone. It's hard to find honest workers in Philadelphia. I feel lucky to have come across Andy and will be a lifetime customer.

Turns out that  the plumbers while very friendly clearly did not fix the real problem, which after looking at the layout of my bathroom was quite obvious (also my bad). My husband called them to come back out and they decided not charge us for the previous work. They gave us a new estimate, which my husband called several times about to schedule. We finally just gave up and went with another company.

After reading the mixed reviews, I was a little concerned that this was the only company I could get to come out this week to fix a toilet.  However, my experience was excellent.  John came EARLY!! (after calling to see if it was ok to do so), quickly diagnosed the immediate problem and then fixed other minor issues that would've been a problem. I LOVE a service person with some common sense. He's also very nice.  Thus far, everything was very professional at a good price. My credit card has not yet been billed (other reviewers noted problems) so we'll see what happens with that! I'll update if necessary.

Recently bought a house in the area and had some items on our inspection that needed fixing in the plumbing department. Andy came out to the house and walked through everything with us, let us know which ones we could fix on our own, which needed to be done ASAP - we had a ticking timebomb of a water heater - and which we could start on our own and he could come finish up. We took all of his advice, two weeks later we brought him back, it was two other guys but they were just as friendly and helpful. Super sweet to my puppy which always wins me over. They did the job perfectly and charged us a very fair price. Very happy customers over here and will be going to them with all of our plumbing needs in the future.

I would love to give them a rating based on their actual work, but unfortunately their customer service is horrible. I left 2 messages, 2 days in a row, with their answering service and never received a phone call back to schedule my service. They must not need my business. Moving on to someone else. Oh well.

Great service!  I called Andy last minute because another company dropped the ball and he was at my house in 20 minutes on a very busy day.  Fixed my AC unit at a really good price compared to other companies.  Would definitely recommend this company and will use them again in the future.

Woke up to a blown water heater.  Called Andy, I must've liked him cause I put his magnet on my fridge. He told me to turn off the water valve. Didn't know about that.1st house. He showed up in minutes. Not only was he quick & courteous but he cleaned up  & even took the old hot water heater with him. I will definitely use him again!

Andy came out to clear my main storm drain that runs from my gutters to the sewer system.  Got the job done in under an hour and charged a fair price.  Very nice guy.

John installed a new hot water heater for us earlier this year and serviced our heating system this week. He is courteous, professional and responsive and makes the time to answer all questions thoroughly including consulting on future jobs.

Great guy, great service! Andy came out to fix a clogged drain in my kitchen. Although it turned out to be a more serious problem, Andy was able to fix it in no time at a very reasonable price. He even cleaned up afterwards! Will definitely be calling him again!

We had a great experience with Andy's plumbing. We had a leak, and they were the first to be able to come out. They first said they'd be out by around 2pm, and sooner if they could. Then they called at 11:30 saying they could come then, which worked really well for us. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to fix the leak, and it was very reasonably priced. The technician was friendly and polite, and we always like using local companies. Will definitely call them again when in need!

My partner and I had just bought a house in the city and among all the little surprises we were coming across, a PVC pipe leak had us pretty worried. Andy called us back same-day and we were able to make an appointment for him to come out. He showed up about an hour early and cleared up a blockage in no time. Would not hesitate to do business with him again.

Andy gets five stars because there aren't anymore stars to give. I have never dealt with such a clean, honest, nice plumber. A true professional! After you get him to your house you understand all the five star ratings on Yelp!

We had a leak in our guest bathroom. Andy started looking and found and fixed the leak in an hour. It ended up being a lack of seal in the connecting pipe to the shower head. But you could only figure it out by getting behind it. I was floored in a good way that he could resolve it so quickly.

Efficient, honest, courteous, on time, and affordable... Why would anyone in Philly in need of a plumber not call Andy?

Realized heater was broke when I woke up. Called Andy. He came by within a couple hours and had it back up and running in no time. Great guy.

They have done good work for me in the past with reasonable prices.  However, there have been multiple times when I've called and left a message and gotten no response, so had to go with someone else.

Responsive and straight forward -- he told me things I didn't really want to hear but I respect the honesty. He came and did his thing pretty quickly working around my schedule... I'd use him again. His prices seemed the going rate... u don't want to go cheap if u don't have to because we all know you get what you pay for.

The Mutt Office was in a huge jam this winter and these guys came to the rescue.  They were there in a quick time frame and assessed the situation thoroughly and got to work.  The job was complete and all went very well! I was more than pleased with the work they did and then they even returned to do more work one day and I left the key for them to get in.  I trusted them THAT much!  These guys are the best around.  I highly recommend them to you!

John was great! He installed a new sink because our old one was leaking... courteous, fast, and on time.

These guys are dynamite.  Came right away, friendly, replaced my kitchen sink in a hurry.  Never called me buddy or  said Know what I mean?  I had called another guy who was surly and said he might get around to me later in the week.  These guys clearly have a roster, so they can send people quickly.  Plumbing is almost always an emergency, isn't it?  It can't wait till later in the week, most times.

My nephew installed a new bathroom vanity for me but ran into a problem he couldn't fix. I called Andy's Plumbing based on the reviews here. John from Andy's called me back in 20 minutes and came right over. He made the one emergency repair I called about and addressed several minor nagging plumbing issues in my house. John couldn't have been nicer, the work was done quickly, neatly, and well, and the price was extremely fair. I finally have a plumber in Roxborough!

only issue was that the bill wasn't itemized, but i could have asked for that, so... Andy was very professional and nice, seems like a good guy and thoughtful about his profession and work.

Awesome!! They came to my house on short notice told me what I had to do to fix the issue and were very friendly.

I noticed my water heater was leaking on Wednesday night, right before the big snow storm.  I called Andy's Plumbing around 730pm, because thats the number and magnet I currently had on the heater.  Someone actually answered the phone and told me to expect a call shortly from one of the specialists.  Less than 5 minutes later John called me back and said he'd be to my house around noon the next day.  The next day I got a call at work around 10am and he said he'd be there earlier... Perfect.  We got to my house and within an hour I had a new  water heater installed and all.  Great service.. Great price.  I'd recommend these fellas to anyone in the surrounding area.

I called to make an appointment because the stem broke in my hot water handle of my bath tub faucet. They scheduled me between 12-3. They arrived at 12:01. They disassembled the faucet, took the piece to a local hardware store to find a replacement. Luckily for me they had one. All was completed I under an hour and for the price of $160. Far cheaper than the quote I got from another plumber.

Andy's plumbing is great! I hadwater backing up into my basement and they came out the next day. They quickly identified the problem and fixed it. They also gave me an idea of pricing for a couple future projects. Their prices were more than reasonable and i didnt feel they were trying to take advantage of me.

I also appreciate they didnt talk down to me or assume that i couldnt understand what they were explaining. However the best thing is that they were very professional and very respectful towards the house as they were working. Unfortunately i have had experiences with plumbers making a mess and even scratching things as they worked showing no respect that this is where i live. Andy's was neat and clean and since it was very cold out, they made sure to keep the doors shut when going in and out.

I have many plans to use them in the future.

Being a die-hard DIYer, it pained me to have to finally throw in the towel and admit that I needed to call in a professional, as my kitchen sink had officially won the clog battle. This was my first time ever calling in a contractor, and I'm extremely happy that I was able to find a great one on my first attempt. I called Andy's to make an appointment, which was taken by what was clearly a 3rd party answering service (don't let this deter you!). I gave them my information, and within an hour I received a call back from one of Andy's plumbers, John. We scheduled a two hour window on the following day for when he would arrive, and he actually showed up 5 minutes early...what a rare, welcome pleasure. John was super-friendly, informative, and quick...he busted that clog in about a  1/2 hour. He cleaned up afterwards, and even gave me some free advice on another plumbing issue I had questions about. So, needless to say, I was more than happy with my first contractor experience - I've found a local plumber I can trust, and that I would happily use again.

Andy's Plumbing is honest and reliable. And reasonable. Polite and courteous. Prompt. What else can you ask?

These guys are the real deal.  Have had them out to the house twice, once to fix a leaky pipe, the other to fix a burst garden hose and to get a condensation line to the sewer up to code while putting an S-Trap on it.  Both times when I called, I was able to reach someone right away, they showed up when they said they would, were courteous, respectful, helpful, and did a great job.

John was great.  He was right on time.  He fixed it efficiently.  I had a couple of other questions, which he answered honestly & didn't try to fix extra things that I wasn't sure needed to be fixed to make more money.  I recommend them to anyone. They do have an answering service.  Don't let that dissuade you. They call you right back.  I will use them again & recommend them to friends.

I've never written a review on yelp before, but Andy's Plumbing was so great I can't resist! I needed a bathroom sink unclogged and had already tried fixing it myself. I called on a Monday night and received a call back the following Tuesday morning. I was able to schedule an appointment for Wednesday afternoon. On Wednesday, John arrived early and was very friendly. He got to work right away and was finished within 20 minutes. The sink is now draining perfectly. The price was very reasonable and came with a 30 day warranty. Awesome service!

I am so grateful to have found Andy's! I had a leaky faucet and called up Andy's Plumbing to fix it. I've used them from time to time and have found them dependable, prompt and priced fairly. They were flexible with their schedule and were able to meet me after work to look at my sink. Once they finished the job, we got to talking about how my neighbor had fixed my hot water heater in the basement and Andy offered to take a look at it to make sure everything was okay. When he went down there, he knew something was wrong. He took a few pieces apart and found a big problem. He saved my family and I from carbon monoxide poisoning. He went above and beyond and didn't even charge us. This will be our plumber for as long as we live in the area!

Like the previous reviewer said, don't be deterred by the 3rd party answering service.  After calling, we got a call back a few hours later.  We were given a 2 hour time window for arrival on the scheduled day, and John arrived on time in that window.  He was so friendly and polite, wiped his feet before entering the house each time (he had to go outside for a few things, and to his van for a few things).  He didn't charge for a simple washer replacement on the outdoor spiggot and was able to quickly fix our problem in our bathtub.  I am definitely keeping his business card if we ever need him again!  So glad I called.

I have used Andy's several times. Andy is totally professional and more importantly, HONEST. I was having some issues in the basement and thought I might need a new soil pipe. He took one look and told me it was fine. He even fixed my shower faucet for FREE after the general contractor's guy botched the install. Prices are reasonable and they are quick to respond. What more could you ask for?

i have experience with heaters & plumbers, as i do some my self i was in a bind to get the heater fixed and he got the service done but for a 30 minute job he charge me $400.00  it included the part which retails for 50 dollars.  If your looking to get ripped off call these guys.

This is the first review I have ever written, but after the service I have just received from Andy and his team, I feel compelled to do so. On New Year's eve, I lost heat on the second floor of my house (I have 2 zone heating), and in the morning, I called Andy's answering service. I received a call back quickly from Andy, and over the phone, he immediately diagnosed the problem, requiring not to replace my entire heat pump ($$) but only to replace the coupler inside the pump. He didn't have the part available that day (New Year's Day), so first thing the following day his colleague came out to do the repair. In 10 minutes, I had heat again upstairs. Ironically, later the same day I was having a new alarm installed, and the alarm technician cut the power line from my thermostat to my other heat pump for the ground floor (I am seriously not making this up!). I lost heat on my main floor that night. I called Andy the following day (Friday) after our first major snow of the new year, and without hesitating he fit me in to his day, went out of his way to purchase the right equipment to do the repair, and by the end of the afternoon I got the heat back on. I am impressed with Andy's depth of knowledge, honesty, professionalism and caring.
