The name says it all!!!

He came over to my house unplugged two rain drains! He was professional and timely. I will be hiring for all my unplugging needs!

Our tenants at our duplex experienced a sink backup that affected the pipes in the utility sink in the basements. This happened on a weekend so we needed someone ASAP. Called The Unplugger and they got us in their schedule next day. Came out and took care of the problem. A couple days later the basement pipes were backed up and I contacted the Unplugger only to show up next day and remedy the issue. Johnny on the spot!
Great communication and service. Work was guaranteed and great price. Highly recommend their service and we have added them to our repair contact list.

We had a leak under our sink on a Saturday night and Dave was at our house within a half hour. He was courteous, communicative, and followed proper Covid protocol. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

I searched around to find a plumber to do hydro-jetting, which is supposed to be a great way to unclog older pipes that have built-up gunk. I called David, with the Unplugger, and he said they don't do hydro-jet, but that a snake would be plenty to fix this issue. I was hesitant, but he assured me it would clean things out.

David was nice, came and snaked it, and things seemed ok until it wasn't a week later and it was gurgling again. I reiterated my concern the snake wasn't enough, but he said he would come out again. Even after the second time he snaked it - same issue. His work didn't seem to make any difference.

I asked him for a refund and he never responded.  

Update: I texted him again after this review and he finally got back to me. 3+ no show/no communications this week and he finally showed up the 4th time. The drain issue does now seem to be resolved, but still 3 stars due to communication issues.

Dave saved my bacon.  The Good Lady's, too.

Christmas afternoon I headed into the basement for something and found water on the floor.  We get flooding down there during heavy rains but not usually from a little bit of snow.  Some investigation proved this wasn't a normal flooding event.  This was a backed up drain and what we were seeing was the water from the shower I'd taken earlier.  Which meant other kinds of water would back up. Like when the toilet flushes.

That's right. Mr Hankey visited our basement.  Just a little, thankfully.  Attempts via plunger and snake were for naught and I consulted Yelp straight away.

Dave replied to my DM in 59 minutes.  FIFTY NINE MINUTES.  On *CHRISTMAS*. He was on site ready for bacon saving the next morning.  He spent more time on the old, wacky, maintained-on-the-if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it-model, addled elderly person induced clog than I did getting a hold of him.  The residential service business just doesn't work like that.  Except for Dave. Dave works like that.

Total fly by night operation. They fixed a clog that became clogged again within days. Won't return my calls or texts. Overcharged me for a toilet which I only found out when the SECOND plumber came out to fix my clog. I would not recommend their services. Communication is poor and be prepared to OVERPAY. Terrible experience.

Round two (different toilet) with Dave the Unplugger. Again, out here same day, fixed the issue within half an hour and gone. These guys are the pros and are tidy and polite. Five stars for sure

Guests staying in our home clogged up our toilet. Dave came within hours when most places I called had earliest availability weeks later. When he arrived, he got straight to work and fixed the problem completely in no time. We were so impressed with Dave's communication and BEYOND grateful for the 5 star service he provided. Seriously, call Dave. You'll be happy you did.

The Unplugger unclogged an outdoor drain on a concrete pad that had been clogged for a long time. I didn't think it could be done, and he did it with no problems. This was years ago and I STILL think about it!

Dave McNair is a friendly, competent plumber. He trouble shoots first to find the source of the problem rather than fixing parts that aren't broken. He was able to unplug the stem inside wall of bathtub/shower. He also cleaned two drains and showed me the clogged aerators in both of my sinks. He is tidy and polite. The cost of the repair was close to his estimate and he did more work than expected. I am a relieved and happy customer. Will definitely call him again if needed.

We had loose piping and spout had to be replaced due to reverse leakage. Dave took his time and even spared us having to cut through drywall to try and secure the piping behind the fiberglass shower. Dave was understanding and pleasant. The price included hardware and labor, which was also fair.

David came out within 24 hours of being contacted (on a Saturday!) to clear a backed up drain in our new house. He fixed the problem right away at the agreed to rate. Thumbs up.

The Unpluggers were meant to show up on a Saturday to hook up our plumbing after getting some countertops installed and they never called or showed up. We waited all morning and nothing. We've had no running sinks for 2 days and now I am scrambling to find another plumber to come and help us. Terrible service!

I reached out for a quote via yelp to unclog our basement laundry room floor drain and Dave responded quickly with a reasonable quote and an offer to come out ASAP! He came over promptly and fixed the problem quickly and neatly. I appreciated the timely texts and his friendly service. Will definitely use him again! His magnet is now on our fridge :)

Dave Sr. Was on time, fast, clean, affordable, and efficient! He not only got the item that was stuck in my toilet out he went above and beyond doing some tinkering for me! I also asked him last minute too unclog the other toilet in the house for me and he did as well as replace something that was broken for me! I definitely recommend them, they were able to come out the next day as well and made the process very easy and stress free. I know who to call if I ever need a plumber again!

Very happy with the services we received. Communication to schedule was quick and easy. David arrived when he said he would, was able to un-clog the drains, and also pointed out some leaking pipes and other issues at the same time. Will definitely call again when we need this kind of help.

We saw the high ratings so we hired them to help unclog our drain in the kitchen. They were professional and were good communicating fees and status.

They seemed to fix the issue but it returned a few days later. They guarantee their work, and honored that. Even going above and beyond with some extra attention in the garbage disposal drains.

They also didn't treat us as a non-priority with the warranty work, even though the repair was free because of the warranty. They made us feel like a priority.

Dave did a great job correcting a super slow kitchen drain at our new home, he also corrected the plumbing under the sink. He was the best price in town and also went above and beyond to check out my dishwasher as well. Super nice guy, I'll be calling him again.

He was great and came within 30 mins of my call (when everyone else was scheduling me out 5 days later) and he did a fantastic job. Not only did he fix the drain, but he fixed the water pressure at no extra charge!

Dave went out of his way to help me.  Same day service for a clogged sewer line.  After waiting for a plumber who never showed up, I communicated with Dave.  He asked specific questions to assess problem and guaranteed he would come that evening.  He did and even showed up early!!!!  Problem solved and life moves in!!  Thank you Dave!!!!!!

Dave was awesome. He did a fantastic and thorough job, including clean up. The only downside is that it was a bit challenging to get on his calendar (the guy is super busy), but it's worth the wait. He really is skillful and takes his work seriously.

Dave came in and fixed a leak on a bathroom sink that had not been properly installed. He is very responsive, reliable and did a great job, but be warned - his calendar fills up quickly!

Dave also came back and did additional work, helping with an entire bathroom refresh. He installed a new floor, lighting fixture, cabinet and added a tile back splash for the sink. Really outstanding work that greatly improved the look and utility of the bathroom.

Amazing Service! This gentleman worked in the dark and cold until the stubborn clog was gone. He was here until late at night still working, hours after his normal service time. He also came back in and changed a wax ring that had gone bad. You could tell he just could not leave knowing everything was not perfect. Can not ask for more.

5 star reviews, same day service, prompt arrival, and good communication seems like it is too good to be true? It is true! Our contractor did not plan for valve work and we needed a plumber to replace our shower valve to keep the shower install moving forward. After calling a dozen companies, Dave was able to come and replace our valve within couple hours of our phone call (which was preferred by our contractor). He is reliable, courteous, and we highly recommend Dave for your plumbing needs!

Whenever something goes wrong with anything to do with plumbing , panic strikes and you worry who can I call, can I trust them to do the job that REALLY needs to be done and how much is it going to cost. A few years ago that happened and I called around and researched all the review sites.
I had had a slow draining bathtub for a long time and it had started to get worse. I was afraid to call a plumber because the last time I did, a high pressured salesman came out and tried to talk me into some kind of package  He told me that he had a state of the art cleaning high powered something or other and if something were to break, he would be glad to take care of the problem for a charge. I said no thanks and continued to live with the problem. Eventually I had to act. I called around and spoke with several diff companies. They wanted to charge me by the hour for using some scope . . .   and then I spoke to Dave (the Unplugger).  He was no nonsense and no  sales pressure just a straightforward manner that made me relax.  Right away I  began to breathe a sign of relief and  felt confident I could trust him.  I was right. He quoted a flat rate no matter how long it would take him and then he came out and fixed the problem for a very reasonable price. Now ......years later I had a different problem. THis time my kitchen faucet was leaking under the sink. I immediately thought of Dave and gave him a call. ONce again he quoted a flat rate and I didnt think twice. He came out, fixed my sink and I couldn't be happier.   I don't worry anymore about plumbing problems. I trust Dave and hope he never retires!

I'd give 100 stars if I could!!! If you need a skilled, affordable, honest, super nice plumber, call Dave first!!!  He will go way above and beyond to fix your problem, AND! he's super nice to boot!  

Dave just spent a huge amount of time crawling around in my gross terrible tiny crawlspace to cut and repair my sewer line.  The job ended up not at all being what he thought, took way longer, and was more complicated, but he stayed anyways well after quitting time to get it done for me. Such a nice guy, did very quality work, and very very reasonable prices.  Very respectful of my time and my home, and called and texted a lot with updates.  Dave is a gem!! I'll always call Dave from now on.

Dave came out to help us with a gutter/drain problem.  To start with he came on short notice as I was in town to help my mother with some repairs.  We did not know what was causing the problem but he methodically worked it out to be some downspout blockage and slow drainss.  He also cleaned the gutters in the process.  I feel like he did more than I expected.  One drain line was badly plugged and it looked like it might have to be dug out but after an hour on that one drain he cleared it (and still charged me the same rate). When he left, everything worked perfectly.  I highly recommend his service

Dave was wonderful.  He came on short notice on the weekend and spent much longer than he had planned as he ran into more than I thought was wrong.  He did an excellent job!  He was very kind, professional and respectful.  I would definitely recommend him.  Thanks for the great service Dave!

Dave came out to my place the day i called him to unclog a really awful kitchen sink drain, during our conversation i had mentioned that i found a Groupon but that i really didn't like using Groupon because it is so easily hacked and he said no problem I'll just give you the same deal...so that was awesome start.

Once he got to the house he clears the drain in no time and i mention that i had a mud sink downstairs that also was draining slowly, he takes a look and says the pipe is to old and the snake would bust right through but he would come out the next and work some magic. Throughout his visit i had told him a handful of horror stories that i had experienced from recently buying my first house built in 1955, as he said that he would have to come back out the next day and with a sympathetic tone he said he would cut me a deal and that he could understand the financial strain i was in.

Next day he gets to the house with the intention of doing an hour repair and unclog but there was difficulty with those old pipes i mentioned, not only did he not charge me extra for the parts but he didn't charge extra for the additional 3 hours he had to work on it...did i mention he was already very fairly priced so please don't use his kindness against him, he deserves to make the money he charges!

P.S. he is also a contractor and I will be looking forward to hiring him for additional services in the very near future

Ever wonder why some people seem to get all five-star reviews?  In Dave's case it's because he is truly outstanding!  I contacted him via Yelp's direct quote service Friday evening, and he called me a half hour later, gave me a fair price, and scheduled an early Saturday morning appointment to accommodate my schedule.  He arrived on time, and started work immediately.

My problem was a clogged rain drain.  I moved in two years ago and noticed water running over a gutter, but was told it was just a gutter filled with debris ... but cleaning the gutters didn't solve the problem.  The guys who cleaned the gutter said the drain wasn't clogged, and cleaned the gutters again.  Eventually I tested the drain myself with a hose at ground level and found the pipe clogged.  My neighbor told me that the drains ran to the street in front of our house, about 150 feet away, and that's what I told Dave.

He started work and after a couple of attempts said he thought the drain went the other way; toward the back of the house.  Even though I had misled him on the drain causing him to waste time (and he was charging me by the job, not the hour) , he remained cheerful and sent the snake the other direction where after much tribulation the end popped out half way down a slope amongst some vines.  Still smiling he climbed down a steep slope and cleared the roots away from the outlet.  He carefully checked that the drain was clear, cleaned everything up and was off ... still smiling.  

No question who to call for clogs ... call The Unclogger.

We had clogged sink and shower drains. Called the Unplugger on Friday morning and David promised to be out between noon and 2 o'clock the same day. David did a great job. He arrived at 1 o'clock and was gone by 1:45. He is very efficient, personable and professional. Will definitely use this company again.

This guy is amazing! I called him yesterday to come snake my clogged pipe. There were some complications (my pipes we old and falling apart) and he said he'd go get the parts and we'd change out the entire grey water run that day! We started at 5pm (I helped him) and he stuck it out until past 10pm! He has such a great attitude too. He is just a super nice and honest guy. He is beyond fair in his pricing as well. This guy is a gem, he'll get you fixed up!

Had toilet that was clogged and time and service was good just the price.  188 dollars for at most 30 minutes was a little high

Really great experience working with Dave.  Would definitely call The Unplugger again.  Very professional, knowledgeable, clean, efficient, and friendly. Price is much more reasonable than competing large companies that we have used before.  5 stars for sure.

Dave responded to my message in short order and was flexible with arranging a time to come to the house. He showed up on time and went right to work. The jam proved be tougher than expected but he made short work of it. Cleaned up the mess and didn't gouge me on the price. Overall excellent experience and a good guy.

David was incredible! He fit us in quickly and unclogged a very feisty kitchen sink. He also helped us with a leaky bathroom sink and water heater free of charge. I cannot speak highly enough of his professionalism and hardworking demeanor. If a sink every decides to fight back I will be giving The Unplugger a call!

Incredibly nice and helpful. Also we all know the most important quality in a contractor is honesty and feeling confident you are not getting ripped off and Dave is grade A in that department. Called him to unclog a kitchen sink and even though it turned out to be a crazy job that took 3 hours he only charged his standard rate. Not to mention he was the only plumber in Portland working Labor Day weekend apparently. He even offered to snake out a basement drain he noticed was clogged for free. Can't recommend this guy enough. Wish all contractors were like him.

David was FANTASTIC! He'd worked all day and still squeezed us in at the end of his day (6pm!) to unclog our bathtub. He was friendly, knowledgable, and quick. My two year old daughter was there and he was friendly with her the whole time which was impressive! He even asked after he'd finished the drain if he could caulk in a faceplate for us because he'd noticed it was loose. What a great guy. I can't recommend him enough!

Prompt response to our request for a quote. Arrived early for appointment. Prompt and courteous. Charged amount quoted. However, Dave left us with leaking pipes under the sink once everything was reassembled. My husband was able to fix that problem, but not worthy of a five star review.

This guy is the best.  he is the most honest and thorough plumbing professional who has serviced our house and applicances, and we have had about four in the past three years.  One guy told us we needed over $2000. of repair and brought out a bunch of underground surveillance equippment.  We couldn't afford that.  Luckily, we found this guy, The Unplugger, on Angie's List and tried him.  He fixed our problem with a LASTING solution for $200.  We did not need to spend $2000.  This guy is accurate and honest and he does a great job.

I sent an email late at night and By morning my leak was unclogged before I even woke up!  Super impressed and will use again!

The first time we hired Dave; we were pretty impressed.  He unclogged a clog in our washing machine. He was there for hours, fixed the problem and didn't charge an arm and a leg for the service he provided. The second time we hired him, to unplug a simple clog in our kitchen sink, his son came instead and was there for 25 minutes and charged $187. I was shocked as I was expecting it to be in the neighborhood of half that, based on his website and reviews I'd read. Even our excellent plumber only charges $105 per hour. My husband demanded we stop payment on the check, which I did, with an explanatory email stating that, based on your website, and our experience with you in the past, we expected to pay this much lower amount for repair on one line and would be happy to cut another check for that sum.He said that all of the other uncloggers were charging way more than he was and were mad at him for undercharging, so he figured he would charge like prices. Needless to say, we won't be using him again.

Dave is just as epic as his business name suggests.  He was willing to come by during a time period when other plumbers were not (thank you, thank you, thank you!) and fix the mess created by another plumber.  He was inexpensive, and didn't make a mess of the house.

We had an issue with our kitchen disposal and drain that neither my husband nor I could fix. I called at 9 on the night before xmas eve (the website said call anytime!) and I spoke to the owner who promised to be there the next day. He and his son came promptly and were so friendly and quick- obviously pros.Within 20 minutes they had unclogged the drain, told us how to remedy it if it happens again and were on their way- all for less than $100, which is unheard of when it comes to plumbers. I have told everyone I know about this company and will not hesitate to call them again. They are awesome!!!!!!
