HISTORY

Established in 2003.
Tony Sarkinen started plumbing in 1991 for a few Clark County plumbing companies. As an apprentice and journeyman, he learned that in order to grow a business and stay in business, it takes a lot of hard work, a great support team, and a laser focus on providing exemplary service. With over 20 years of experience and a driven mindset, Tony formed Sarkinen Plumbing and has built his business much on word of mouth. Today the company is centered on honesty, trust and getting the job done the best way possible.

This company installed a sewer line at the house I bought. Their performance showed no consideration to the after-effects of their presence. They removed a 4'x11'x6 concrete slab and didn't replace it; placed the above ground clean-out pipe 4' away from the foundation (when it should be right next to it) and 12 above the new concrete layer thus creating a tripping hazard and determining where I'll now have to place my patio furniture to avoid injuries); the equipment they used, from neighbors' accounts, was far too large for the back yard space and the lawn was completely trampled, requiring re-sodding, at $1,300 (at my expense); they filled the yard debris bin with soil that the garbage people will not pick up and that I had to pay the re-sod company to remove; and they cut off 8 branches from my back yard tree (probably because the equipment they used was too large - a Bobcat would have done the job).
The seller contracted for this work as part of the sale agreement (a total cost to them of $13,000). My advice: If work needs to be done on your newly-purchased home, have the seller agree to take a price reduction and contract for it yourself, That way, the contractor will answer to you, and not someone who is leaving the property, however good their intentions may be. IF YOU BELIEVE THE WORLD IS FLAT, THEN HIRE THIS COMPANY. They do not even deserve the 1 star I have to give them.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Matthews service and care was the best. His work ethic and professionalism is not something you see much of nowadays. Honest as the day is long, went over everything with me, arrived when the company promised, and a GREAT personality to boot. Matthew could sure train some other companies on Quality Customer Service. Sarkinen Plumbing is very fortunate to have him on their team. Thank you so much for the great service and your commitment to taking care of your customers. I truly appreciate you and thank you.

Being a first time home owner, when my sewer line sprung a leak, these guys tried to take me for a ride! after snaking my shower drain (Problem not solved) they came back a second day to repair the leak (didn't flush the line, didn't scope the line, didn't do anything outside of destroying more of the line) the line is concrete and they managed to break more of the  line, then immediately told us we needed a whole new sewer line. The bid was over $8,000. They had no bases for this prognosis. To add insult to injury the charged me over $600 for the repair that didn't solve the problem and then after demanding an invoice that was itemized, they charged me for things they didn't even do. My realtor sent another plumber out who did his homework, flushed the line and got it working, then scoped it and told us the line was fine. He is handling the repair for us and saving us over $8,000. I'm so pissed at this company for the shady business practices and downright sneaky B.S. even after trying to talk to them about all this they just said I'm sorry you feel that way, there has been no attempt on their part to make it right. I'm contacting the Attorney General next, the Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. Finally, I will discuss the matter with an Attorney. This has become about principle for me, I trusted these people when I first called with a bad situation and they only cared to try to capitalize on it and my lack of knowledge about plumbing. Trust that I am Educated Now! DON'T TRUST these people and DON'T do business with them unless you have deep pockets and don't mind throwing a chunk of change away.

Had a large leak start in my water heater late one night and shut off the flow of water to it until the next morning.  Called Sarkinen and they sent out Manny, who quickly figured out the root cause and gave me a few options to fix.  We picked one and Manny had it fixed fairly quickly, and also took a moment to address one other issue I had elsewhere (with the kitchen sink) since he was already here.  Great folks, good prices, and quick work. Very happy customer.  Have since used them for another service and remain a very happy customer.

A couple hours max to fix a clogged drain, no meaningful parts, over $600. Had to come back cause it leaked afterward. Maybe a good choice if money is of no consequence and you have time for second tries. Otherwise, I'd recommend you try ANYWHERE else first. That's my plan. That's what I wished I'd done.

The work done (install a dishwasher) apparently is professionally and successfully completed.  However, beware the on-site Sarkinen plumber who shifts the basic task of installing a dishwasher to one of mysterious complexity that moved the estimated cost from $300 to over $600. I don't know if I am more disappointed with my wife who agreed to this last-minute up-charge, or to the company for having a business model that works this way. They have been inflexible about an adjustment, tho' they applied a first customer discount which, while appreciated, did not take away the hurt of paying more for installation than product cost.
Would you ask Colonel Sanders to babysit your chickens?  If so, then call Sarkinen.

First I'd like to say I do not usually give anybody five stars I believe there is always room for improvement. But Sarkinen and Ty who showed up deserves 5 stars.
Ty was on time and did a great job on installing all 4 of our faucets and repaired a J trap that I tried to put in when we bought a new vanity and sink. And they charged a very reasonable price.
I would highly recommend them to any of my friends and neighbors

We called Sarkinen's for an emergency leak under our house, we needed to have the house re-piped, fine normal housing maintenance. Unfortunately we didn't have 6 thousand dollars sitting around so asked about financing options. The one and only option we were given was to pay half now, and the other half over three equal monthly payments. I would not consider that to fit virtually every budget as the website says. Next, we get the house re-piped - this took two days, totally understandable however the quality was awful. Our shower curtain was ruined from dirty boot marks, muddy handprints were on the walls, they did not sweep between the first and second day so there was wall debris and dirt throughout our house that are dogs got everywhere. They also didn't vacuum on the second day, indicating cleaning up is not part of their final steps.

At the end of the process, a piece of our refrigerator was broken off, and shoved under the dishwasher. The pipes, near the toilet to turn off the water, stuck 5 inches outside of the wall and had no cover to close secure it back to the wall, the pipes under the sink went straight down instead of back through the wall. Finally  - our master toilet was broken. When I came home from work to sign the final paper, the two men presented me with another estimate to have our toilet rebuilt or to install a new one. They broke our toilet and gave us an option of $400 or $700 for them to fix it.

We had another plumber come out, third day I've taken off work at this point, to reevaluate the work and he said the toilet piping was incorrect, the pipes under the sink were done the lazy way, anything for it to get done faster. He looked at our toilet, suggested we buy a new stopper at Ace, the toilet was fixed that night for under $5. Works perfectly fine. I call Sarkinen's to have them come back out and look, 5th day I've not been off work. A guy, decently nice, didn't once say sorry though, said he would come out and fix the work that was done but said it was done just fine.  The next week they came out to fix what was done - now my 6th day off of work.

To make this awful experience worse, we receive a bill in April, dated March; I call the next to make a payment. Let me remind you that this company knows where we live; they had been here 5 times. Last month, post marked August 17th, I get a bill dated APRIL. The bill also says, to avoid collections please make a payment today. Is this a joke - threatening to send me to collections for a bill dated April with no prior bill sent to me?

There is no way that this company is the Best of Clark County, 2016. I have talked to a large majority of the people in that office, and missed over a week of work to have this done, and not once was the service stellar or over the top. I would stay far away from Sarkinen's. When spending this amount of money, do your research and learn from my mistake.

Good plumbers are all booked for weeks. The reason they're available is because they're crooks. They charged my 80 year old mom $2200.00 for a standard water heater. I got involved and they quickly refunded $1500.

We needed help with our flooded basement and inadequate drainage system.  Ty came out on a Saturday morning on very short notice after our previous plumber flaked on us. He was available to start on or project right away.  He was super helpful in giving my husband advice and help on the outdoor drainage project that we had decided to do ourselves.   He was very professional and answered our many questions with patience.  He installed a sump pump in our basement and cleaned up after himself thoroughly.  The price matched the bid exactly.  We were very impressed and will definitely call Ty again.

They do not offer 24-hour service.

They do not offer emergency service.

If you're in need of either of those, don't waste your time contacting their dispatch service.  You'll only be prompted to try again in the morning.

These folks may be quality plumbers, but they're certainly not available after hours.

Sarkinen replaced all the faucet and shoer trim/valves in the house along with emergency shut offs.   The estimates were easy to understand and assess when we were taking bids for the work.  The plumbing team, Jake and his associate Levi, showed up on time every day. They were methodical and patient including through some challenges that arose during the hardware and piping replacements.

They just completed the projects, and all looks great.  Cleanup was thorough with minimal mess during the project.

Overall professional and focused work, on time, with great results!

The technician arrived on time for the appointment however, everything that happened after that is why I'm posting a 1-star rating.  While the tech was friendly and polite, he did not do a thorough analysis of what was to be removed and installed thus resulting in me having to purchase additional parts from Home Depot and figuring out the rest on my own.  When he arrived, he reviewed the new faucet, the old faucet, and the lines under the sink. He gave me a quote of $352.12; I agreed to that rate (even though I knew it was pricey).  In the first 20 minutes, he realized he didn't have the correct wrench and told me another tech was in the area and could bring it to him. Well that turned into 45mins later. Then as he is 3/4 of the way complete, he comes to tell me he needs a different angle stop and it would be an additional $235.00!!  At that point I told him to stop because I knew where this was going. He stopped and charged me the full amount $352.12 plus WA tax of $29.58 = $381.70. I paid it because that's what you do and then deal with a refund after. I will say, he did show me on the Home Depot app what to buy so I could finish the install. As soon as he left I called the main office and spoke with Taylor and told her that it was completely ridiculous to have me pay for an entire job when only 3/4 of it was done and now I had to do the rest. Taylor stated the job was to do a removal and install but I debated with her the install was NOT complete and I was without a working faucet. Taylor then transferred me to Sierra (her manager) where I had to explain the events again and said I would only pay 3/4 of the job completed and nothing more. Sierra started that the tech had to wait but I told her what the tech told me, plus it wasn't my fault the company didn't make sure their techs have the correct tools.  After a debacle, she agreed to my final charge of $287.00. Yes, the final rate was still pricey but it was only fair to pay for the removal and PARTIAL install. I would not recommend this company based on the tech not properly diagnosing everything from the start especially when everything was plain as day. I also felt like I was being price haggled. - Natalie T.

Total scammer, do not trust! I had a clogged drain in one of my bathrooms and called up Sarkinen for a quote. An employee came out the next morning for the estimate and proceeded to tell me that the shape of the pipes was at an angle and because of that they couldn't just snake my tub and I would need a hydraulic flush for an estimate of $895 after taxes! I was in shock and for some reason asked him to look at my toilet as well since it runs on and off- he told me I needed a bunch of things replaced for over $300 bringing the total estimate to $1,255. The next day I called another plumbing service in the area that did the whole job for $250! $1,000 less than my insulting quote from Sarkinen. Don't waste your time with them, they're awful, I cannot say enough horrible things about this place, I would leave zero stars if it was possible in a review

This is not an honest company. I was lucky and had a friend that was a plumber give me a ballpark quote so I knew if I was getting a fair deal, he estimated $200 for the job. When this company showed up they gave me two options $650 for a band aid but said I really needed the $950 fix witch involved replacing the entire shower system. I explained to the estimator that this shower is never used and the whole bathroom needs a remodel, I just need to be able to turn off the water. As soon as he left I called another company and they had it fixed in an hour and only cost $250.

Disappointed, wish I had read the reviews before.  Waited 5hours for service to repair a leaking pipe....tiny pinhead leak but water everywhere. Took max 5 minutes to fix, $600 later.
The service person said I would hear from another part of the company to evaluate the water damage to eradicate in a couple hours.....never heard from them.

To date, have not received the bill or receipt of payment.  Looking at their website.....coupons mentioned but to bad for suckers like me who didn't think I had to run the gauntlet to avoid getting taken.

We discovered that our toilet was leaking. The plumbers from Sarkinen said they could fix it and said we needed to call a water restoration company that they recommended since the water had leaked under the floor. They quoted us three different prices, which started at $892 for their gold plan down to 332 for their Quick Fix plan. Not being a plumber, I wasn't quite sure what was wrong with the toilet but I agreed to the 332 price, which pretty much just turned out them replacing the wax ring. I thought that was way overpriced, and I was confused of why there would be three different prices. After they left the water restoration people showed up and the first thing they said they're going to have to do was to pull up the toilet since they wanted to put a heater on the wet area. I told them I had just paid the company money to pull the toilet off and replace the wax ring. The water restoration people said that the plumbers should have told me that they were going to have to do that and it would be a waste of money. All they needed to do was to turn the water off and tell me that it needed to be dried out first before they put a new wax ring on. I would have been happy to pay for the service call but I'm feeling very taken advantage of to pay $332. After reading other reviews it sounds like this is something that other people have complained about too. I would not recommend this company. Buyer beware of their high quotes for their gold plan that they show you on their notebooks. It adds insult to injury to also hear the receptionist answer the phone by saying, How can we make you smile?

These guys went above and beyond! They came out for an estimate yesterday and were so kind, one of the guys loves animals and he held my chihuahua mix and played with her for a short period of time. Then they came out to my house today to re- caulk our tub and fix our toilet cause we had different plumbers previously who did not know what they were doing. These guys were a breath of fresh air. I came home today to find everything looks immaculate with a note telling us to not use the shower for 12 hours. I will be using this company in the near future. Thank you Sarkinen plumbing!

Price gouging opportunists.

I was trying to deal with a water leak, blind, from across the country. Sarkinen was quick to respond (yay!) and charged me ~$350 to repair it. The next day, the hot water tank is still leaking and not functioning.

Sarkinen reponds to inspect, tell me I should replace the entire hot water tank and quote me $2,700 to replace a standard gas tank. I bock at the initial pricing, and they tell me they can knock $350 (my original bill) off the price OR they can just leave my hot water tank dumping into my house and I can go find a cheaper replacement. Feeling like I'm being held hostage, I give them the ok to proceed.

Sarkinen then charges my credit card for the entire amount despite having never invoiced me for anything besides the original $350...

This company does not give me trust and I wish I had seen the other 1 star reviews before I worked with them as my experience sounds the same as those.

Had to call at 10 at night for a water leak coming out of our bathroom wall on a Friday.  Here's the positive....they had an actual person answering the phone when we called and they were available to come out that night.  They told us flat out there was $150 emergency call out charge which we readily agreed to pay.  The plumber came out, did what he had to do and was professional.  Part of our wall had to be cut out to get to the leak but, once in there, the fix was simple.

Why only two stars?  Quite simply, we feel we got fleeced on the price.  Again, I want to be fair.  Once the plumber was here, he did give us a bid but, at that point, we already had him here, we were already out $150 and felt we had to do something to mitigate any further damage to our wall.  We were presented with three levels of pricing based on what kind of warranty we wanted.  That in itself concerned me.  In my mind, it is either fixed or it is not fixed. Your fix is only good for 3 months, 6 months or a year?  In any case, we chose the mid level service and, including the call out charge, the bill was over $800 for what was termed by the plumber himself as a basic leak and which took all of about 1/2 hour to fix from start to finish.  It's not like anybody lied to us at any point along the way, I just feel like we in a vulnerable position and ripe to be taken advantage of.

Because I don't know know much about plumbing, or associated charges, I wanted to wait to post this review until our insurance adjuster came and looked at the situation.  She pretty much agreed.  We paid way too much.  We should have just turned off the water and waited until Monday.

An expensive lesson learned.

After calling around to find a plumber to do some significant remodel work, I finally landed on Sarkinen and was pleasantly surprised to talk to some cheerful people at their office. We scheduled a walkthrough for a Friday morning to discuss the scope of work and get a bid, and the plumber showed up within the 1-hour window I was given, which was great.

The walkthrough was okay, and despite being a little combative and argumentative over certain aspects of the job, he sounded like he knew what he was doing. I asked when I'd be able to see the bid, and he stated that he writes up bids on Sunday night, so I'd have it by that next Monday or Tuesday.

On Wednesday, having not heard anything, I called the office, spoke to another friendly voice on the phone, but was told they'd have to look into it. I got a call from the plumber the next day with a half-hearted apology, an excuse that they've been really busy, and a promise that he'd write up the bid over the weekend for sure. I reinforced that we were waiting on this to move forward with other parts of the remodel, so time was of the essence.

That happened to be Memorial Day weekend, and I just got the bid on the Wednesday afternoon following. What's more, it didn't include one of the options we'd discussed.

Interestingly enough, in the meantime, I was able to schedule another plumber to come by. He arrived early, was nice to talk to, offered some great ideas and cost-saving alternatives, and delivered the bid (including all permit costs), within two hours of leaving the job site. I think I know who I'm hiring.

THE WORST EVER!  My daughter's house had a leak under it. It is a manufactured house. They came and gave us an estimate for the repair. Said it had butelyne pipes and permanent fix was to redo all pipes in house for $10,000 or temporary fix was $1,350 to redo pipes under the kitchen sink. Seemed like a lot. Called another plumber who came out and found out the leak was caused by a dishwasher drain hose that a rodent had eaten through. He fixed the hose and problem. The kicker was he only took cash or check and since I thought we were just doing an estimate, had neither with me. I told him I could go get money quickly and he said, it's FREE! WOW! They might be good for some stuff, but what they would have done for that price would not have even fixed the problem! The estimator did not even find the leak and just tried to make a bunch of money. Get a second estimate with this company! I am in Vancouver WA.

We had water with sludge coming up thru the floor drain in our basement laundry room (what a mess) and of course it was a Friday. After calling several plumbing companies all were booked up for a least a week. We found Sarkinen Plumbing available, 45 minutes later out came Robert, professional and polite. He found our problem and suggested a couple of options to try and remedy the situation. The next day right on schedule came Manny, professional and polite. He ran a high power pressure water hose that was not able to clear the pipe in question and recommended replacing a section of old pipe. Well the next day Manny was enthusiastically back with a concrete saw and went to work. It was fast and affordable. Sarkinen has hired excellent personnel in the field and office We highly recommend Sarkinen Plumbing Company. Thank you!

It was almost a week from when I called them until they arrived to fix my problem. Then techs wore masks and were friendly and helpful. They diagnosed and fixed my problem quickly. I was unpleasantly surprised at how expensive it was. Then I was shocked that on top of that they charge an addtional 3% to pay with a credit card. I would not use them again or recommend them to friends.

I called Sarkinen Plumbing to request an estimate on replacing my 30-year-old standard AO Smith hot water heater. Dylan arrived during the prescribed time but did not project a sense of customer service or professionalism. He got upset when I requested to see some sort of company ID. He had little knowledge of the tier system when it came to rating hot water heaters and was mildly disrespectful, to say the least. I know customer service and this was not it. I will not recommend this company to anyone.

Had an emergency after returning home from vacation.  Found my water pipe to the pump house frozen.  Called Sarkinon and they were professional and responded quickly.  The thing is, I had no water to the house and they knew this.  Gave me a quote of $300.00 over the phone.  When the technician arrived, he began right away and was able to replace about 6' of pipe and heat the lines to get the water running again.  They were on site for 55 minutes and I was good to go...then I got the bill!  $600.00!!  Twice what I was quoted.  Although I appreciated their quick response, it really is disappointing to be in a situation and have someone exploit that and completely gouge you!

On a Friday afternoon I discover a water leak in the area of my Clark County PUD meter. The PUD tech came out, confirmed the leak, shut off my water and informed me the leak was on my side of meter, thus, my responsibility to repair.
Sarkinen Plumbing was able to respond soon after my urgent call for service and make repairs.  But, that is the only good news about this review. The Sarkinen tech arrived and informed me he could start digging at $175 per hour.  10 minutes later he said the PRV Valve needed to be replaced at a cost of $516.  Total cost of repair $749.04 for a less than 1-hour job.
A few days later a PUD tech informed me only the coupling on the PRV needed to be replaced and he provided a replacement coupling kit.  I contacted the PRV manufacturer to confirm the info.  The Mfg. mailed me a replacement coupling kit free under warranty.
So, $175 for 10 minutes digging; $516 for a PRV that retails under $100 and did not need to be replaced; total job $749.04.   It is clear I was taken advantage of; a good part was unnecessarily replaced and I was overcharged for parts and services. Sound like a fair and honest job to you??

Overpriced and misleading.  I was charged $550 for a half an hour of work to unclog a blockage.  I was told it was minimum $175 then $175 per hour.  Once they dug up my septic and said it was a blockage then they brought up the $550 up to $1200 (with warranties) range. I didn't really have much of a choice since it was late afternoon on a Friday and I needed my toilet to work.  All of this was after I had called Thursday at 7am for an emergency situation and told they would be out after 2:30. They never showed up, I called twice and dispatch said they would reach out to the guys in the field....nothing.  Friday morning I called and the lady called me back hours later stating that she had scheduled my (emergency) appt. for Friday afternoon not Thursday.  Very disheartening, I feel taken advantage of.

Wished we had read reviews prior to calling Sarkinen Plumbing.  Yes, it's true.  They come out on quick notice, for $150 fee to say we can't fix it today, but we can order parts and come back and fix for another $800.  And the first $150 you paid doesn't apply.  Apparently it's their standard practice, which is fine as long as you know going in.
Suggest looking around past Sarkinen.  We were very disappointed.

If you're considering using Sarkinen for your plumbing needs, please stop now and don't waste your resources with them.  This is a dishonest company.  Sarkinen came to our home two weeks ago and addressed a running toilet for us.   They told us we needed to replace a fill valve to stop the running and it would cost $287.  We agreed to the work and they completed the job.  Flash forward two weeks, the toilet continues to run. We called them to let them know we were still having issues with the toilet running and they sent someone back out.  We assumed this work would be covered under the 30-day warranty but if it wasn't, we were told the technician would let us know at the time of the visit prior to completing any work.  AFTER the work was completed, I was informed that the flapper should have also been replaced at the time of initial work but it wasn't.  Then I was told it would cost an additional $233 (after the coupon they were providing) for the work they just completed.  Once again, this was AFTER the work had been done on the follow-up visit.  Since the flapper was a different part than the fill tank, it wasn't covered under the initial 30-day warranty.  We should have been told prior to the work being completed they would be charging us for an additional Quick Fix.  At this point, the plumber had me sign the authorization to complete the work.  I was very clear that I should have had the chance to agree and sign the document PRIOR to the work being completed.  We would not have had them complete work that cost additional money ($520 to stop a running toilet).  He apologized but stated there was nothing he could do at this point.  I'm very frustrated and feel completely taken advantage of.  I understand how important plumbing is and the fact that it can be very expensive due to expertise required but to be mislead by a deceitful company is discouraging.  We contacted two other plumbing companies in the Vancouver area to ask if this was standard cost and procedure, they both said no and they would have handled the situation much differently.  Please seek elsewhere for your plumbing needs and save yourself the disappointment.

I am VERY VERY IMPRESSED from the initial trip out to do a quote on a main water line repair. This was a huge job and he was able to give me a price right away. The quote was fair and reasonable compared to others. The work was done well and everyone in the company knew their stuff. I highly recommend this honest company. They are my new permanent plumbing people!

I had a very disappointing experience with Sarkinen Plumbing. I called them to unclog my kitchen sink, but they did not solve the issue. I paid $324 for a cleaned pipe, but when I poured a gallon of water into the sink after they left, it flowed through the leak at the sink strainer and none of it flowed down the supposedly cleaned pipe.

I was forced to go to the basement and open the clean out myself, which resulted in a lot of black gunk covering the adjacent wall. While the workers were friendly and provided some information about the proper size sink strainer, the service did not produce any results.

I am very disappointed with the work that was done, and the price I paid for nothing was too much. I will not be using Sarkinen Plumbing again in the future.

All three toilets at our house are flushing slowly.  I am away from the area on business, so I help my wife out by calling Sarkinen and scheduled an appointment the next day.  The person showed up 3 hours late, and all he did was tell my wife that we need three new toilets installed for a cost of $1700.  Apparently he told my wife that since the house is 25 years old, we need all new toilets.  There was no talk of a drain clog?  What a crock!
I thought they would at least check/snake the sewer lines for this issue, since they are a plumbing company.  But no, the guy wanted to fleece my wife, and me.
I don't know if they subcontract out or what, but the company is using idiots at best, or deceptive business practices at worst.
Before you use this company, you better already know what the problem is.  Stay away!!!!!

I got a leak from the valve to the toilet. I was going to replace it myself, but after shutting off the main water and the leak didn't stop, I started calling around. After calling over 15 people, I got Sarkinen who was able to come in an hour. I was so afraid the leak was major. Mike was awesome. It was late on Friday before a long holiday, but he went to get parts twice and finally got the issues fixed. Thanks for hard working!

Zero stars. My elderly widowed neighbor had a leak in pvc compression connector in her pump house and about 4 inches of water on the floor. The water was creeping through an abandoned pipe and dripping in her basement. An estimator came out and told her she had three leaks, including a broken pvc pipe in the wall, in the pump house plumbing and he would fix it for $3000 or upgrade it to PEX and brass fittings for $4500. Being a neighbor that looks out for others, I asked him to show me the leaks. He said he couldn't because of the 4 inches of water and he didn't have any rubber boots. He left and sent another plumber with a pump and a helper. After pumping most but not all of the water from the small pump house floor I asked the new plumber if he could show me the three leaks. He said no, still too much water on the floor. I convinced her he neighbor that these guys were trying to scam her. I told her the leaks were only in the yard irrigation plumbing and to have the plumber turn the house water on and advised her to get more estimates.  At that point the plumber charged her $2387 for pumping a few inches of water out of the pump house and left. $2387 for pumping out a few inches of water.. an elderly widow had to pay.  By now my neighbor was in full panic mode. I grabbed my wet vac and removed the remainder of the water and turned the main irrigation valve on. I found one compression connector leaking and one threaded fitting that fed an abandoned drip system slightly seeping a very small amount water. I tightened up the compression connector and the threaded fitting and all leaks stopped. I have since replaced all of the old irrigation plumbing, deleted the compression connectors and old drip system and added a new back flow device for around $100 in parts. I will also removed the abandoned pipe that was carrying water to her basement, add a sump pump and reroute some electrical lines. I would not recommend Harkinen plumbing, they prey on the elderly. If $2387 for pumping a few inches of water is not predatory, what is?

I called Sarkinen plumbing just after 12 a.m. for leak coming from my ceiling in my condo. I was told it would be an additional emergency charge to get immediate service, and I would get a call back from the dispatcher in 15 minutes with an ETA. Great, awesome! However ,an hour went by while I waited by the phone with no response. I call back to find out they had forgotten about me and it would be 8 a.m. Before anyone can come out. I then waited again  until 9:45 and yet again, no response. Meanwhile, the ceiling continues to drip, and damage is being done inside the walls. I call back to be told the first dispatcher never told us and we have no openings until Tuesday at 4 p.m.. Really!? Because I was told twice someone was on their way, now to be told I have to wait a day and a half while water drips all over my kitchen? Ridiculous. Great customer service to forget that I called TWICE. You were on our list as the preferred provider for our whole condo association. After today, I'm told you're being taken off- and rightly so in my mind.

Replaced a hose bib in July of 2020 for $235. Less than one year later, It no longer works. Had them out to take a look. They said it's stripped and it would cost us $350 for the exact same thing... definitely not paying $125 more for the exact same faulty item and/or shoddy repair work. Go somewhere else!

They take advantage of people that doesn't know what they're doing. We called for someone to come look at our water heater to find the piece that needs to be replaced. We asked that they found the part before doing any service so we know how much it would cost and go from there.
He showed up took advantage of our father that doesn't speak well English. Did a basic service without asking us first while only our father was home then when finished told him he owes him $600. For a service he didn't have our permission to do. We then asked for the invoice of the part and service and he left before giving it to us.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Easy to make an appointment and they come out for a free in person estimate but their pricing is sort of ridiculous. Had them out last week for a simple kitchen sink drain assembly replacement because our new garbage disposal didn't fit. Wish I would have just been told their prices were a flat rate because it was a waste of time. The tech looked under the sink and then showed me a binder with their prices ranging from over $500 for their Band Aid quick fix to over $1,600 for their Platinum work. We went with another company who completed the job in 30 minutes and charged us half the cost of their band-aid price.

Our sprinkler system flooded our front yard in the middle of the night and we didn't know what to do. The emergency shut off valve was completely flooded and water was spraying out of all the sprinkler heads in the front yard even though the system was off. I called about 3 or 4 emergency 24/7 lines who did not answer the phone. So I was very grateful when Sarkinen picked up and said they could send someone out right away. Their on call employee arrived in about 10/15 minutes and was able to help us. He was very nice even though we woke him up at 2AM. I would use their services again.

Sarkinen was very helpful and prompt with their service.  They met our needs and would recommend using them.  If you can do the work yourself for cheap then go ahead!  If you need someone else to come in and provide a professional solution to a daunting job - gotta pay for it!
Ideally you have time get two estimates and can make these folks one of them.

I contacted Sarkinen Plumbing on the recommendation of my brother.  I wanted an estimate to have a water softener installed in our new home.  I called on a Wednesday and setup an appointment for the following Tuesday morning at 9:00am.  At 9:30 today we hadn't still hadn't seen a plumber.   I called Sarkinen to see what was up.  Kendra told me the plumber didn't finished a job the previous day and was back on that job this morning and their dispatcher would call me when the plumber was available to give us the bid.  It was all very casual, as if this should be expected.  I told her I had other appointments throughout the day and couldn't wait around for an unknown arrival time.

1. I find it rude that they knew the previous day they wouldn't be on time to my appointment.   Yet no one bothered to give us a courtesy call.  I guess my time isn't as important as theirs.
2.  If they are not interested in showing up on time to an appointment to give a bid for new business, they certainly are going to be on time to keep my business during or after the installation of a water softener system.

I'll go elsewhere to find a plumber that values my time.

If you are wanting work done, I would look elsewhere. I had a job to move a gas line, mind you it was a 20 minute job. I was told they would charge for the job to be done. Not by the hour. They wanted $800 to do it. There is paying for the expertise and then there is highway robbery. Find a more reputable company to help you with your needs.

We had a broken outside faucet bib due to the very cold winter and tried to fix it on our own.  Pipe inside wall was not braced so fell into wall and couldn't get to it.  Hubby didn't want to put a hole in the wall, so we called a plumber.  Tried a different company first, told them what the situation was and that we had no water (turned off due to break).  Their first appt. was one week away!!  No options given.  Tried Sarkinen and had Mike out in about an hour.  Fixed the problem in about an hour and charged a very reasonable fee.  Very happy with his pleasant demeanor and professionalism.

These guys first came out last summer when we found our water pressure in our backyard hose was low.   At first they told us it was small pipes and quoted us thousands of dollars to put in new ones.  I said I would think about it and then asked them to change the hose gasket while they were there since it was old.  Upon doing that, they discovered it had blown out, which ended up being the sole cause of the low pressure.  We were relieved and kind of forgot about the initial mis-diagnosis.  Cut to not even a year later, the gasket they installed stopped working.   It was winter so we let it go for a while but finally called them back out this week.  The guy told me it was stripped and it would be $350 to install a new one.  I'm sorry, what?  There are lots of plumbers in this city, look elsewhere.

Was in a pinch a few months ago for a replacement hot water heater in a short amount of time.  I opted to go through my home warranty company who dispatched a different plumbing company; the other company was awful, didn't check anything out, didn't really explain anything, and added on services that were unnecessary.

We called Sarkinen the same day and they advised an employee would be out the next morning.  After reviewing our hot water heater, they advised it needed replaced and they could do it same day should we prefer.

The hot water heater was installed in less than two hours, the plumbers explained everything to us, hauled ours away, flushed our lines, replaced our connections, etc.  The plumbers were personable and knowledgeable.

I highly recommend Sarkinen!

Had a tech and his helper come out to service my waterheater and without even touching the waterheater said it needed a new part that is extremely difficult to get and that I needed to essentially replace the whole waterheater. He then provided 4 levels of waterheater replacement pricing that ranged from the basic shotty job to the super service and warranty job that varied from $1350 up to over $3000 (All pricing for the same branded waterheater unit, which is even more questionable). While they were here I asked if it could be the thermocouple that needs repair, since some folks suggested this based on symptoms. He said that certainly wasn't the case without taking the 2 minutes to open the front and LOOK at the part with his own eyes. They likely have no idea how to actually FIX waterheaters - only replace them - and have shady pricing tactics to go along with it.
After I had Stan the Hot Water Man come out and he had the universal part on hand, (The THERMOCOUPLE as suspected) fixed my waterheater and was an absolute pleasure to work with.

A few years ago I had used their service and was treated fairly and a reasonable cost. Come this Aug. and I had them over to do some minor work. My fault that I agreed to use them.
I had three minor repairs. One was to make the flush handle so it was not so hard to make the toilet flush, and to fix the stoppers in two sinks. One sink the Popup drain rod assembly needed replaced and the second sink just needed the rod assembly pin put into the stopper.
The charge for  the assembly put into the stopper was $148.00
This should not have taken on a bad day more than 20 minutes.
The same job on the second sink was the same price.
To change out the valve handle $163. This is how it makes it easy not to ever use this company again. Wish I had read the comments prior to using them

If you want to get RIPPED OFF and pay 2x or even 10x more than you should, then by all means hire Sarkinen Plumbing!  I'm actually surprised they're not in jail or at least being charged with fraud.

We had a water main leak and they came over to inspect it and the price started at about $500 and the scam was just getting started. They kept finding new problems that weren't there and because I worked as a plumbing assistant many years ago, I knew something wasn't right. The price quote kept creeping higher and higher finally landing on a $3,000 cost because they said they needed to do some serious snaking work to fix it.

The snaking work was the key word to observe that exposed the fact they are actually snakes trying to ripoff unsuspecting customers. Long story short I called another plumber that also started with an S and turned out they were totally honest and fair. The other S company came over and did the job for $350 including tax and was the exact opposite of Sarkinen. In the end, I avoided the snaking (8.5X overcharging) from Sarkinen Plumbing and avoided a $2,650.00 loss. I wonder how many people this company has ripped off and how much money was scammed from them, but it has to be a lot looking at the other reviews. Avoid getting ripped off from this dishonest company and DO NOT HIRE THEM!

We had a leak in our upstairs bathroom so we asked some of our neighbors who they would recommend. These guys came out right away but they immediately gave us a highball estimate, $800. I told him not to fix the toilet and to just charge us the service call. He talked my wife into a $300 basic fix. As I am reading other reviews it looks like this is a business model that starts with management. Short term profit instead of fair return for a job that is well done. I will never use these guys again.

Never ever trust a company that won't separate parts and labor for you on an estimate.
Do not hire Sarkinen!
We complained about this but they refused to change it and tried to say they are a full service operation - DON'T fall for it.

They just jargon instead of actually telling you what and how much needs to be replaced and what the condition is.
Unfortunately we went with them because we were in a time crunch and no one else could come out - but never EVER again.

They put in fixtures we didn't approve of, and who knows what we paid for them because they refused to separate parts and labor.

I'm so glad we paired down our list to only the emergency fixes and no upgrades we wanted to make.

It just amazes me that people wouldn't run their company in a way they can be proud of - being vague about your pricing and not giving the homeowner options on fixtures they didn't even tell you they were going to need to replace during the estimate. Shameful.

i am sad to say this company is a rip off. i called and spoke to the receptionist who would not give me a quote. i was told when the plumbers arrived they would give me the estimate. they arrived. i explained the old disposal had already been removed by my son and my son had purchased the new disposal. the work needed was to install the new one. i was told it would take a half hour to install. i was never given the service call price. the plumber quoted me a price of $354.00 + tax. i was floored! i kindly said no thank you. (free estimate) the cost was to high. i contacted another professional plumber who came and installed the disposal for nearly half the price. i would not recommend this company to anyone. prices are outrageous. i will say they were prompt in arriving.

We called Sarkinen after discovering there was a leak in the plumbing behind the shower wall. They were quick to come to assess, but all the rest was a major headache. The plumber sent out (who was training another plumber) was happy to fix the problem and left with $350. When the tiler finally came to replace that wall, I wondered if the leak had actually been fixed/tested, due to something I saw near the repair.  They reluctantly sent out another plumber who reluctantly agreed to cap off the pipe at my request and let the water through, and the leak was still there!!!! We would have replaced the shower wall without the leak fixed if I hadn't insisted on testing it. Then they proceeded to give me another bid on getting the leak fixed!!!!!! Apparently talking with the business owner/supervisor isn't an option, so it took much complaining to get them to return to fix what I had asked them to fix. I never got an apology.  Their phone greeting how can we make you smile today? Is paper thin. What a disaster!

Hubby called these guys because when it's 40 degrees in the 'Tron (aka Beaverton) and your hot water is gone and it's after hours... well, you get the picture.  On-call person arrived well before he said he would, was very pleasant, answered all of our questions, gave us a quick demo of what the problem was and fixed it for a nominal fee within a short period of time.  Had hot water in no time at all.  Worth the after hours service charge to not have to sit around and wait for another company to call you back or take time off of work to meet someone at the house the next day (or whenever they could fit you in).  Would definitely call this service again!  Great customer service!

I trusted Sarkinen Plumbing to update my elderly mother's bathroom and improve usability. I was the paying customer.

Unfortunately I could not personally oversee project. I initially met with The plumber (Chris). He was to  install all new plumbing guts, new shower, and hand held shower. Fancy.

But new rain shower head was installed far too low at 5 feet and not standard 74-80. It's at eye level for a short person and at the same height as the new hand held shower.

Why? Because he said he asked my 92 year old mother where she wanted it.

I don't think she could understand what he was talking about. She was most likely already stressed to have a stranger in the house and was confused.

I only found out about AFTER the bathroom was finished and tiled. I demanded from Chris why didn't he call me?????? I was paying for it! I'm the client! Yes the work was in my mother's house but I was to the lead and in charge of the project.

To fix the shower head and relocate it higher to standard height would require a rip out of the special ordered tile. I cannot afford it.

The shower space unusable. I am out thousand of dollars and.... my mother said she won't use it.

When the plumber would not return my phone calls, I called the company and talked with Tony, the owner. I demanded a partial refund for work that wasn't what I paid for and that THEY SHOULD HAVE CALLED ME with project changes. That I was paying for it.

I was told to send a photo of the bathroom. But since my mother refuses to have any more workers in her house and I'm broke - there's no point. I give up. I just about cried, still feel sick to my stomach and have lost sleep over this ordeal..

There used to be an old saying the customer is always right. Not so with Sarkinen Plumbing.

I needed a kitchen faucet installed.  The old one removed and the new one (that I had purchased) installed.  Ron had a 4 hour window to arrive (9-1) and arrived at 2:30.  Came to the door with no mask on and no tools in hand. He tried to tell me the Kohler faucet I had bought was no good. Actually told me Kohler was no good.  He gave me a price (from his iPad) of 490.00 to INSTALL the faucet.  I asked how long it would take and he said not long. I asked - do you really get 490.00/ hour labor?  He said - no.  I asked him to break down the cost and he told me it's all labor.  I asked him to leave, called the company and relayed my experience.  I don't know if this is how they do business all the time, or if he just tried to take advantage of an elderly man.  I would not hire this company to do anything for me.  Ever.

The best service one could hope for when you are suffering from a loss.  Our kitchen and bathrooms were out of commission.  The guys were there from morning to night digging, filling, landscaping, replacing pipes, taking photos for our adjusters.  Everyone was professional and worked their tales off.  There was no standing around, mindset to get it handled and get our customers back to their lives.  I was beyond impressed with the whole aspect of this nightmare.  . . I just called them over the phone and the woman was super rude. The first technician that came out charged me $200 and didn't even actually address the problem. A month later we had to call them again and they charged us another $600. The technicians were really nice and sweet, but the operator was definitely rude over the phone or at least could have spoken to us in a better tone. After the shower was fixed for the 2nd time, our sink was clogged and we had to call them again. I asked if they would see if it had to do with the shower that they installed since it literally clogged right after the technician left, but the operator was super rude about it. I never leave Yelp comments but in this case I felt like I really need to say something.

I recently had a mold problem in our house caused by the prior owner puncturing 2-nails into our hot and cold water lines.  After Sarkinen Plumbing replaced the 2-water lines, they then sent their master plumber, Seth and his assistant, Logan, to re-attach the carpet, add new baseboard, fix the drywall, texture the walls, and paint the walls.  These 2-guys did such a fantastic job and they did all of this in time before my out of town visitors came for the Easter weekend!  Sarkinen Plumbing is lucky to have employees like Seth and Logan!  Because of employees like them, I would highly recommend Sarkinen Plumbing to anyone needing any type of plumbing work as well as repairing your walls that are damaged due to plumbing problems.

In addition, I have to highly commend Amber at Sarkinen Plumbing because after noticing that my bathroom tub had been accidentally partially damaged by one of their plumbers she recently sent Miracle Restoration to repair our tub.  Sarkinen Plumbing took photos of the damage, got me an estimate in less than a week and agreed to split the cost to repair the damage.  In just 2-days I have a tub that looks brand new!  Again, I cannot say enough good things about Sarkinen Plumbing!  They have proven to me that this company and all of their employees really go the extra mile to help their customers and to always to the right thing!

Everyone at Sarkinen Plumbing is conscientious, prompt, and really nice to deal with!

First, I was extremely happy that they were one of the only plumbers in the area to actually answer the phone immediately with a real live person who was extremely warm and friendly. They had Ryan come out to give me a bid on a project within a day. When I called back to schedule the work to be done, they were available to come out the very next day. They even were accommodating to our budget constraints. John and Mike came out and did our work (roughing in for a sink in a wet bar) in a little under 2 hours. They were quick, cleaned everything up, and patiently explained everything they were doing from start to finish. Mike and John even answered additional questions I had about plumbing and explained things very well. They left some extra parts for me to finish up part of the hook up which was unable to be completed because our cabinets weren't installed yet. I thought this was extremely accommodating considering they could just as easily said they must come back and do it themselves for an extra fee. If I decide to have them come back out, they gave me a discounted bid to complete the work. I would highly recommend Sarkinen to anyone in the Vancouver area.
