I had a simple project.  Replacing a water jet sump pump backup.  Plumber arrived at time scheduled.  Provided service above.  Hourly rate was $94 per hour.  I ordered the pump so no supply cost.  They were here about 80 minutes as first pump had wouldnt turn off and used second pump I ordered just in case this could happen.  (NOTE: ALWAYS order 2 items in case 1 does not function as it should as long as you can return it; nothing like paying a service fee and item doesnt work!!).  They were tidy (no mess when they left).  They were pleasant.  And they charged $94 total when honestly could have charged the extra 20 minutes.

I will use again.

Worst company of liars I've ever dealt with, they came to my house for a Tankless water heater they installed 5 years prior, the service guy from jack woods, had to call someone from the manufacture.  I heard the manufacture say that product is worthless a new valve ( $5.00 ) should make it work.
The service guy came up stairs and said : all you need is a new Valve, which cost $95.00.
He was at my house 15 minutes, they charged me $228.00, for the service call.  If this review offered negative stars I would mark that

After discovering water leaking onto our living room floor, I emailed ten friends asking for a plumber recommendation. The three friends that replied, independently, recommended Jack L. Woods Plumbing, and so I called them. I now heartily recommend Jack L. Woods Plumbing to anyone needing a plumbing repair.

Jack L. Woods Plumbing first sent out Barry (who arrived a day early) to look over the situation. He quickly diagnosed the problem; an old cast-iron waste pipe running from the second floor through a plumbing chase in our living room was leaking. He then looked beyond the obvious leak and found another section about to fail as well. I'm glad he was this thorough, as I wanted the problem fixed completely the first time. How many times do you want to open up a wall and then patch it? Once!

When Dave and Drew arrived, already having all of the parts they needed, they walked into a situation that was far from ideal. The tight quarters they needed to work within was, to say the least, severely limiting. They quickly devised a plan and set to work on the old house (built in the late eighteen hundreds). Dave and Drew did an incredible job of replacing the cast-iron pipes. They also took great care not to damage the ceiling, leaving only the wall to be patched.

They worked efficiently and completed the onerous task in short order. Plus, they were very pleasant and cleaned up quickly. There is absolutely nothing they could have done better. During my thirty-five years of owning houses and calling on the various trades to make repairs, Jack L. Woods Plumbing is by far the best I've hired!

A pipe on my water heater had a slow leak, the tech was able to fix it quickly and walked me through every step of his repair. He also gave me a brief overview of the various parts and pieces of my water heater which I really appreciated. I've used Jack Woods in the past and the techs are always on time, reliable, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Called Jack Woods because I was referred to him. He referred me to someone else because he was scheduling a week out and due to the issue we are having he would've referred us on anyway. I value honesty and this man was honest. Thank you Jack Woods.

We received an estimate to replace three toilets; the old ones would run water unexpectedly. Ave was our plumber... he installed three toilets, fixed a shower diverter, open three slow drains. On the same-day, our garbage disposal stopped working. He gave me a fair estimate and then replaced my garbage disposal on the spot. He cleaned up after himself, kept me updated on his progress, showed me a few kept tips about my faucet in the powder room. I am over-the-moon with his service. And I'm happy with everything! Thanks Ave!

Received service from Jack Woods Plumbing to get both outdoor spouts fixed for our hoses. The service agent arrived 30 mins late because he said his knee was acting up so he came into work late, which I understand since she was an older gentleman but it was still bothersome.

When he got to the house he stated that he did not feel comfortable working on one of the spouts because he did not think he could complete the job because there was a small area to work with and it would be hard. I accepted this because it is in a cramped spot, but it still took him 20 mins or so taking a look at it to see of he could make it work, all.of this time I was paying him for laborz

The other spout he fixed in about 5 mins as and we came to find yesterday that his fix now leaks behind the drywall in my basement when the spout it turned on.

I spoke to a manager about my transgressions about the service and they said they would as refund part of the labor due to the service agent arriving late and not being able to complete the full job requested.

This work was done months ago and I have not seen a check or credit from the company. So this was a complete bust on their side.

Tl;dr? You should go elsewhere for your service unless you want service that won't last more than a few months.

I've used Jack L Woods Plumbing for a number of service calls over the past 10-15 years and was most always pleased with their plumbing services - their plumbing service and expertise was good.  However, the last few times we used them we found the plumber to be very gruff and not very personable.  Working in the construction/renovation field, I'm used to dealing with a variety of trades and the lack of personality is generally not an issue for me.  However, my wife was usually the one at home dealing with the plumber and she found the gruffness and lack of personality to be a detriment.

SO - if you just need a good plumber and don't care about their sink-side manner Jack Woods would be fine.  If you want someone who can explain what's wrong and how best to fix it - you might want to try someone else.

PROS:
* They've done a couple difficult jobs for me that turned out OK.
* Price was reasonable.

CONS:
* They don't have designated estimators assigned to come and review a job and present a proposal.  They just use their in-field plumbers, which means you get a 5 hour window as to when they will show up- whenever they have time between jobs- and maybe not the cleanest looking.  Plus, who wants to wait around for half the day?
* Work can be somewhat sloppy at times, depending on the plumber, meaning it may not the prettiest looking plumbing when done.

I have used Jack Woods Plumbing for years. They are competent, but overbearing. They disconnected my whole-house water filter without asking me because the plumber thought the filter was bad for water heaters. I am changing plumbers now. The last straw was, my basement recently flooded & the drain-cleaning company said the water heater would need to be moved to access the sewer pipe. I had 8-10 inches of water in my basement & called Jack Woods at 4:50 pm in a panic. They called me back at 6:00 pm & berated me for calling so late. Really? Don't have an after hours number if you're going to ridicule people for using it when their basement is full of water.

Well, I wish I had read all these reviews before I wasted my money calling this company. I shouldn't taken my friend's word for it that this was a good company. For over a year we hadn't used the shower in the master bathroom because it leaked into the downstairs kitchen. We had access to another shower but finally we decided to bite the bullet and fix the problem once and for all. A plumber from the company came out, couldn't find access to the pipes under the shower so convinced us to allow him to saw a 1 x 1' hole in the soffit in the kitchen to discover where the pipes actually were. He then told us we needed a new assembly- whatever that means. I explained that rather than spend the money on a new assembly, we would prefer to replace the entire shower as well as any plumbing parts required, to prevent further leaking. The guy was in capable of giving us any idea of how much a new shower surround and base would cost. The man left, & I expected to hear back from someone. I thought at the very least they should have given us a written estimate of what the project would cost. Instead, we received a bill a few days later for $100. I called, asked what the charges were for, especially since we now had a gaping hole in the ceiling of our kitchen, and was told that $100.00 was what they were charging us for the service call. After making several more calls to get an explanation for why I was being charged anything, considering that they hadn't fixed anything but had put a hole in the ceiling, I received no more information.
What I find perplexing is that I hear people recommending Jack Woods plumbing all the time. Some of the people who recommend them are contractors. This makes me wonder whether Jack Woods is relying on years of accolades about their company. They certainly don't seem to be doing very well now.I feel like if they had had an experienced, well informed plumber visit our house, we might have gotten a quote and decent service. Nobody who works there seems to care about the reputation of this company.

We have used Jack Woods plumbing for 20 plus years--they used to be our gold standard for plumbing. With that being said, we have seen a drastic decline in their communication over the past year. They do not return phone calls. We called on a Tuesday and were told someone would be able to service a hot water heater that Friday. After checking in on Wednesday, we were informed that they would not be able to come until the following week at the earliest.

Oh well. Atlas Butler it is!

I will never recommend anyone to deal with this company.  They charged me for a job that is still not done. My bathroom is leaking ans it leaks all the way downstairs to the ceiling into my dining room table. They came and claimed have fixed the problem and the same say they left we took a shower. More water came down,  even more than before. I called the company and spoke to the Manager Rex who sent another technician to see what the problem was.  The second technician came and inspected only to realize that nothing was fixed on my problem and informed us that the 1st technician who came was never supposed to give us the quote since it's a drywall problem and not a plumber issue. Therefore they charged is on a job they didn't do. The water is still leaking. We called the company again ans John Rehark and Rex have been giving us a run around and eventually Rex the Manager hanged up the phone on my husband and never attempted to call and resolve this issue. I do not recommend this company to anyone unless you want to be taken advantage of. This is not right and I barely post but this i had to do.

Avoid at all costs! This is actually my first negative review, so I don't make a habit of this. But, my experience with Jack L Woods was so horrible, I really do feel like I need to warn people. I am also posting this in my neighborhood Facebook group so that I can hopefully save someone the same trouble we have experienced. The plumbing was OK, but they actually completely damaged both new tub/showers I had done one week prior. I was very, very clear with the plumber that both tubs were new and needed a bit of babying. However, he put a huge gouge in one tub bottom and dripped molten metal (which, of course, adhered permanently) on the bottom of the other shower. The worst part is that when I called to talk to them about the damage, they were completely unresponsive. I have pictures of the damage that I sent to the (great!) folks who installed the bathtub/shower - and he said it looks like unbelievable carelessness. Simply putting a soft cloth down would have prevented both issues. Jack L Woods does not return phone calls when they say they will and is not doing anything about this damage. We need to get it repaired right away since there is a gouge out of the tub and I do not want water gathering there. Yet, it's been a week and they will still not get back with us about how it will be addressed. So, if you do use Jack L Woods do not be surprised if they are careless with your property, damage it, then refuse to take responsibility and have it corrected. I can honestly say I've never experienced such awful service in my life. Please - buyer beware!!

On 9//7/2017 I called the plumbing company Jack L Woods re our leaking water heater. The person who answered the phone was courteous and asked key questions about make and model and where the leak was coming from. A plumber came out the same day equipped with a new water heater and he (Barry) quickly and very efficiently installed the water heater along with replacing pipes and fittings where necessary.  He explained everything that he did and cleaned up and took the old water heater away. We have used this company for over twenty years and we have always had wonderful service from them.

I recently remodeled my 1/2 bath and called to make an appointment to have the new vanity and toilet connections / install done by Jack Woods. They have done work in my home previously including installation of  a deduct water meter and remote; and new frost proof hose bibs.
As usual, they called before coming and were on time, were very clean and protected my flooring, listened to exactly what I needed done and did very professional work that I am very happy with. In fact, the quality of their work has exceeded my expectations each time and future buyers one day, if interested in plumbing, will see that the work has been done extremely well - better than original construction on my home. I highly recommend them.

My mother in law is 80 years old and needed her water heater either repaired or replaced. They could not come out for over a week, leaving her without hot water. When they did come out she was in the hospital with pelvic fractures. A neighbor let them in, they tried repairing it, and left. Within the hour the heater was not working again. They of course could not come back right away.... They ended up replacing the hot water heater and sent the bill. We were under the impression they were to give not only a discount for senior citizens, but that the bill would be around $600. The bill was over $1100.00. When called, they came up with all kinds of things that needed replaced that we were unaware of and they charged for coming out the first time with the heater breaking down in less than an hour!  An estimate was never presented to us or her or her neighbor. You hire professionals to fix your issue, not take advantage of the elderly and or vulnerable.

Not a company I would ever hire again or recommend!

Great experience both times I have used them.  Called ahead, arrived as scheduled, price was reasonable.  Very accommodating when I had to change our appointment date at the last minute.  John was very professional and his workmanship was excellent.  Would recommend to anyone needing plumbing services.

Wuth a few geeat referrals, we called Jack Woods Plumbing after our hot water heater wasn't working and resetting didn't help. Within moments of telling the worker the brand, year and model of the heater he had a very good idea of the problem. He showed up with the suspected part needed and sure enough, it just needed a new flame igniter as he thought. Jack Woods Plumbing was quick, efficient and very friendly. I would definitely recommend anyone needing a plumber to call them!

I had an emergency plumbing issue related to water in my basement. Suspected the sump pump wasn't working. Called them this morning. They came out this morning. Was nice and respectful and professional over the phone. Technician came out and worked on it and said it is working now so you can choose to replace it or let it go. We chose to replace it and the cost was significantly less than we expected to spend. I had read previous reviews. Was hesitant to use. Went for it and glad I did.  I don't have any reason to go anywhere else. Thanks

I have used their service three times.  The guy who replaced my kitchen faucet and disposal was great!  The guys who did the two other repairs were in too big of a hurry and did the bare minimum without completing the job.

We have used Jack Woods periodically during the 19 years we have lived in our house. Never again. Water spots appeared in my kitchen ceiling, right where the bath tub is upstairs. I called Jack Woods. Two guys came out about an hour or 2 later to look at it. One guy stayed in the truck the whole time, eating, and the other came in. Keep in mind, this was Thursday June 2. We are leaving for vacation June 10th and I've got friends staying at the house to pet sit for the week we are going to be gone. The guy comes in. Looks at the ceiling. Looks at the tub. Does not look at the pipes - there is easy access thru a closet I'd cleared out. Tells me repeatedly the problem is not with a leaky pipe.  Regrout the tile and get a new shower door, he says. Then leaves. He was here 10, maybe 15 Minutes max. Fast forward to Tuesday June 6th. My daughter showers and those 2 spots in the ceiling both open up and start dripping into the kitchen. I call Jack Woods. The guy on the phone says no one can come out til next week. Well no, that won't work. We won't be home! I said several times that this was the whole reason why I'd called him on Thursday, to head off any potential problem before we leave on Saturday. He wouldn't say anything other than it wouldn't be til next week. Completely unacceptable.  I called another plumbing company who didn't charge extra even tho it was now past 5pm. The leak was fixed. It was in the faucet pipe so every time one of us showered or took a bath, water streamed down into the flooring under the linoleum and into the ceiling.  The guy put in new pipes, new fixtuess, grout, shower doors. A contractor is coming when we return from vacation to replace the floor and ceiling. I can't believe the lack of professionalism from Jack Woods. This would have been a nightmare if it happened while friends were here. Or if we weren't home. Do not use this company. The stress - right on top of vacation - is ridiculous.

Disappointing.  Used them several times and been happy.  Called about 4 months ago because the drain hose on my washer had been leaking.  The guy came out, looked at it, said let me run to Home Depot to buy the part I need, came back and fixed it.  One call and done.  Same issue happened again a couple of weeks ago.  The Plumber came out, said, yes, it's leaking.  I can't do anything about it.  -- I said - wait, you guys fixed it a few weeks back and that plumber from your same company could take care of it.  Why can't you?  He said, you will need to order the part (drain hose) from an appliance company and call me back when it's in to install.  (I went to home depot myself, bought the hose and installed it myself -- even though I had no time to do so).  Fast forward to last Friday.  Bill comes in the mail for his house call!  ARE YOU KIDDING?  Why would I pay that?  He didn't fix it.  When I called for an appointment I told them very clearly what the issue was and they accepted the appointment.  I feel like they were just showing up to collect a check.  Never again.

I hired Jack L Woods Plumbing to fix my hot water heater (pilot light was going off from time to time). The tech came out and replaced a part, was courteous, charged my credit card and left me an itemized receipt. The next morning the hot water wasn't working again. I called Jack L Woods and the same tech came out. This time he fooled around for about an hour, came out and said it was fixed. He left without any mention of a charge, receipt or payment. The following day I received a phone call from the company stating that I owed them another $200 for labor and parts. When I questioned the charge and explained how the tech did not communicate what he was working on or that a charge would be associated he laughed and said what you think it was going to be free?
I think this company has bad customer service practices and I will not be hiring them again. Too bad because they were my family's go-to plumber for many years.
