Well, I wish I had read all these reviews before I wasted my money calling this company. I shouldn't taken my friend's word for it that this was a good company. For over a year we hadn't used the shower in the master bathroom because it leaked into the downstairs kitchen. We had access to another shower but finally we decided to bite the bullet and fix the problem once and for all. A plumber from the company came out, couldn't find access to the pipes under the shower so convinced us to allow him to saw a 1 x 1' hole in the soffit in the kitchen to discover where the pipes actually were. He then told us we needed a new assembly- whatever that means. I explained that rather than spend the money on a new assembly, we would prefer to replace the entire shower as well as any plumbing parts required, to prevent further leaking. The guy was in capable of giving us any idea of how much a new shower surround and base would cost. The man left, & I expected to hear back from someone. I thought at the very least they should have given us a written estimate of what the project would cost. Instead, we received a bill a few days later for $100. I called, asked what the charges were for, especially since we now had a gaping hole in the ceiling of our kitchen, and was told that $100.00 was what they were charging us for the service call. After making several more calls to get an explanation for why I was being charged anything, considering that they hadn't fixed anything but had put a hole in the ceiling, I received no more information.
What I find perplexing is that I hear people recommending Jack Woods plumbing all the time. Some of the people who recommend them are contractors. This makes me wonder whether Jack Woods is relying on years of accolades about their company. They certainly don't seem to be doing very well now.I feel like if they had had an experienced, well informed plumber visit our house, we might have gotten a quote and decent service. Nobody who works there seems to care about the reputation of this company.
