HISTORY

Established in 1976.
The Water Specialist was founded 1976 by Ray Sparrow. Ray was a 3rd generation licensed plumber and had spent most of his life working for his family's plumbing contracting firm. He really took an interest in water wells, well pumps, water treatment systems and water testing. He continued to meet homeowners who were served by water wells but did not have anyone to call to service their needs in the triangle and surrounding areas. His family's contracting firm wanted to stay focused on plumbing so Ray saw an opportunity to start his own well, well pump and water treatment company. Since 1976 the firm has grown to also include a separate division that handles Septic system installation and repair and an inspection division which performs Well and Septic Inspections for Real Estate transactions. Currently the company has 25 full-time employees.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

The Water Specialist was founded in 1976 by Jim's father Ray. Ray was already a 3rd generation contractor who grew up in the business then run by his family members. Ray began his business out of their home literally from their kitchen table. Jim and his brother Caleb have spent their whole lives working in and around the contracting business in various forms and have spent the last 15 yrs directly working with The Water Specialist. Currently Jim holds licenses as a NC Well Contractor, NC Licensed Plumber, NC Electrical Contractor and NC Septic Inspector and installer and Pumper.

We had a problem with poor water quality and are so fortunate to have found Shane at The Water Specialist! After testing our water and water system thoroughly Shane solved the mystery! It was like working with CSI detectives! Shane is incredibly knowledgeable, and patiently explained all the issues and the possible solutions. Thanks to Shane and his research we found the answers to fix our issues at an affordable price. This is my third project with this business and I couldn't be more pleased with their work!

I got patiently delivered instructions for repairing my septic pump over the phone. Richard was thoroughly knowledgeable and helpful and I'm still doing a victory dance. The Water Specialists have gone completely above and beyond in helping us solve our 35-year-old-well-related problems. We bought our home in 2009, and have been dealing with unforeseen well issues since almost day one. Fantastic service! Contacted them in March during the due diligence period of our home purchase. We utilized their plumbing, well water, and septic expertise. They were back this week to complete the repairs. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Extra appreciative of Sam on the plumbing team, honorable mention to Caleb who suffered through our dumb questions and just about all the receptionists and schedulers who helped us multiple times. This company goes over and above anything I ever expected. My well pump went out and I had no water and they were the only company able to respond after hours with a knowledgeable and polite service person. The well was repaired within 24 hours. I also decided to upgrade my water softener to get rid of iron stains and hard water stains. I have never dealt with a company who is so knowledgeable and professional. They provided courteous service, arrived on time, and called often to keep me informed. Keep up the good work!
