Purtill Plumbing

This plumber came recommended, and pays to advertise in our local paper, yet will not return our calls.  His loss, my money will go to someone else!

I am converting my attic into living space, including a new bathroom. Called 10 days ago to get an estimate. Person who answered the call said someone would call me back to set up an appointment.  Nothing yet.

I don't know why they bother mailing postcards looking for work, when they don't call back someone ready to hire a plumber.

I have a rental unit that is getting a new dishwasher ... I called Purtill Plumbing to install a food disposal ... one of the owners advised against putting the disposal in and backed the decision with several thought out common sense facts.  First - Thanks Sean, for getting back to me on  a Friday night. Second - thanks for saving me money on an unnecessary project.  Third - thanks for all of the quality work you've done for me, and will do for me in the future.  These guys are as good as their word, and more!

After some phone tag, I spoke with them yesterday & was able to get a general idea of cost over the phone. I had the work done today (1 day later) & am very pleased with the results and experience.

I needed a shower valve replaced & had already purchased the replacement from Lowes. While I didn't get a firm quote on the total cost of the project, their hourly rate was reasonable (about $85/hr). Over the phone, they were able to accurately predict how long the job would take & they were spot on. Job took just under the 3hrs quoted.

I ended up paying about $80 less than what I was quoted from a competitor (T-Mark).

The plumber who did the job was very kind, professional and gracious. I also appreciate that this company is local to the Southtowns. Will keep their number handy for future work should I need it. Highly recommended.

I contacted Purtill Plumbing to have a water powered sump pump installed.  The owner, Mike, came out the next day and provided me with an estimate that was  much more reasonable from the first one.  The sump pump was installed 2 days later.  Kudos to Mike and his wonderful staff for the excellent service.  I've found myself a plumber!

Charged me way too much for sending a worker here for ten minutes to check out a banging pipe. No work was done and he was here a scant 10 minutes. I was not made aware that I would be charged for a quick evaluation of what needed to be done if anything.  
Make sure you get an estimate before having anyone come out.

Not accurate on bill. Charged me 1.5 hrs even though he was there 20 minutes. Bill is just a total of labor and parts.  Would have been nice to break out $300 part charge? I only knew I was charged $200+ for service because it was written 1.5 hrs.  He came @ 2:01 & left @ 2:19 that's not 1.5 hrs. Very nice serviceman but won't call someone who is clearly dishonest.  I have no idea what I paid $500+ for 20 minutes.

Needed some work done. We set up a time for an appointment no one showed up. I had to call and reschedule for another day. Finally they showed. Replaced one of 2 toilets the other one had a cracked bowel. Tony said he come back the next day no one showed again. I called and spoke to Jack. He said he could have someone there Monday. Needless to say I have a different company coming tomorrow.

Friendly and prompt service, but the way the bill was written lacked transparency.  

We were charged  ~170, but there was no mention of labor rate or time spent (similar to a bringing your car to a mechanic).  

Considering the job took about 20-30 minutes and no hardware was installed, the labor rate seemed rather high, but there's no way of knowing.

While house sitting for my in-laws, the kitchen sink was backed up and wouldn't drain. We called Purtill Plumbing, only to find out that everyone was booked at the moment. They would call back as soon as a worker became available.

A couple hours later, I received a call back. They let me know that a worker was on the way. He arrived and snaked out the kitchen drain. He was friendly and talkative. He explained the process while he was performing the work. This kept me at ease. Only drawback is that they only accept cash or checks.

Prompt service but overcharges for service.  No upfront costs discussed.  Look elsewhere for orchard park area
