Performance Plumbing saved the day for us!

About a month ago, we were without hot water for 3 days about a month ago. During that time, we called several places to come out but no one would -- either because they were booked or said our water heater was too old. A friend recommended Performance Plumbing, I gave them a call and they were at our place within a few hours. The man who came to our house (I'm blanking on his name!) was extremely nice, patient and very knowledgeable. He fixed the problem in a few minutes at a reasonable price and educated me for several minutes on why I need to replace my water heater and the options available. Performance Plumbing is my new to go -- so happy to have found them!

This is a review for the two nice gentlemen in Performance Plumbing who both extremely kindly rescued me with jump starting my car without asking for anything in return, just pure kindness to a stranger stranding by the side of the street. This, tells a thousand words: if the two kind gentlemen from Performance Plumbing gave their helping hands to a stranger with such kindness, I can only imagine that the paid service will be absolutely beyond quality with this kindness in mind, you can just tell! Now I know who to call if I need plumbing service, I will look no further, Performance Plumbing it is!!!

I just used these wonderful people again for a third time after I threw out some spoiled Chinese food, which promptly clogged my garbage disposal. Then I came up with the brilliant idea of adding some Drano (which only made the situation worse by hardening the Chinese food inside the pipes and leaving a poisonous chemical smell all night long).

What I love about this company is that it really has its act together: from the office people who answer the phone to the plumber who shows up. They charge a very reasonable fee and offer excellent service to their customers. I never feel like I've been ripped off or have dealt with dishonest people. They are warm, friendly, and highly efficient! I cannot recommend them highly enough!!!

Dennis came by and saved us this weekend. We woke up to a clogged main and a garage full of water. We had called several plumbers we've used before but all were booked all weekend. I'm now grateful I didn't get through to my usual guys because I couldn't be happier with the service from Performance Plumbing. The service was professional and efficient and Dennis was able to navigate our old pipes in ways that have thwarted other plumbers we've had over.
The price was reasonable. I know who I'll call next time.

Mike was great. Explained everything in detail and with lots of patience.
Had my kitchen faucet and it was done super quickly and left everything clean and impeccable. Hard to believe for a plumber...

The toilet in the apartment was not fixed well. The plumber came the next day and fixed it. He also found out the water was not filling up well, and replaced the filling valve. All was done for a very reasonable price and very professional.

After having a HORRIBLE experience with another plumber recommended by my home warranty company, they referred me to Performance Plumbing. What a difference!

Not only did they show up for every appointment, they showed up in the window they provided. They also found and fixed every leak, including ones that the other plumber had missed.

I am a property manager of an apartment building and have been working with Performance Plumbing for 3 years now.

1) They offer a window of time for appointments and stick to this 99% of the time
2) They are honest and thorough with their work. Mike has spent countless hours explaining things to me and making plans for taking care of the buildings drains and pipes.
3) They are great to use for a variety of work. Sometimes I only need them to simply snake a drain or fix a garbage disposal. Other times, it is replacing a hot water heater or responding to an emergency.
4) They beat out most competitors prices and offer higher quality customer service and work.

Overall, it gives me great peace of mind to know I have a plumber I can trust and can work with successfully.

I have known Mike for more than 1/2 of my lifetime -- full disclosure. If you ever needed to trust someone with very high moral standards, expertise and care, Mike and Performance Plumbing team are your goto. Experience, quality of work, understanding of finer things about construction and how to build things so the last as long as possible is what makes a difference between an average Joe and someone like Mike and his team. If you want to have the job done right the first time, call them before having it done wrong and then having to pay again to do it correctly.

If you believe that as a customer you want to be treated with respect, understanding and honestly, and feel that being treated the way one treats own family is a good thing, do not look any further, because Mike is that kind of a human being.

Very happy with the service. Our garbage disposal blocked over the weekend and they were able to come out on Monday afternoon (the same day I called). The plumber was friendly and fixed the issue in about an hour. I found their cost to be very reasonable. I'll happily use them again in future.

this is my second review of Performance Plumbing. I've used this company a number of times over the past 10 years. They recently did a main sewer line replacement for my property in Nob Hill. They were efficient, thorough and did the work for a very reasonable price (not the cheapest quote I got, but far from the most expensive; anyways, you get the work that you pay for).
Vlad and Mike went over and beyond to get the work done in a very short period of time to minimize the inconvenience for the tenants. I highly recommend them.

Dennis gets my 5 stars. They gave a reasonable window of two hours and he came within the allotted time the next day after I called. (That's 2 stars right there) He then looked at an unbolted toilet seat and a leaky faucet. He was upfront with the potential work done and the cost (toilet reset). (+1 star) he was courteous (not condescending-I get condescended a lot by service people, I think it's because am an Asian female) and businesslike. (+1 star). He inspected then quickly adjusted my faucet, gave some recommendations so it won't leak again, and didn't charge extra for it. (+1 star) And....they take Amex! (+1 star) Thank you! Oh wait, I think I just gave 6 stars, oh well, he/they deserve it!

Had a great experience with these guys. Called today (Saturday) at 1pm and they were at my house by 2pm. Vlad was super helpful and explained what he was doing while he was doing it. It should have cost me $45 + $95 for both the sink and the toilet, but since he managed to knock both out in less than 30 min, he only charged me the $95. I really appreciate the honest service and not being nickeled and dimed. I will definitely be calling these guys for any future plumbing issues.

I had a problematic main sewer line (now replaced). My home warranty sent out some complete yahoo who used my own garden hose and left raw sewage in my back yard.

These were the 2nd tier guys that the insurance company sent out when I had to give the 1st guys the boot. They really know their.. uhh... sewage. Very professional, quick and on-time.

We had an kitchen sink emergency on a Saturday night at 10pm. Water was backing up and we needed help that night.
I called them up and they showed up in an hour, and then a nice tall guy showed up! Mike has good energy and got the job done well and quickly. He also explain to us what is happening to the piping. We were able to get to problem resolved and go to bed feeling much better by midnight that day. Thank you for being there!!

So, after trying unsuccessfully to unclog my own bathtub, I had to capitulate and call in the pros. After a quick Yelp perusal, I gave Performance Plumbing a call.

Since it was a little into the evening hours, I was already wincing about the costs, but it was only gonna be $95 if there wasn't anything catastrophic going on. Had I called during the day they would've charged me $65, oh well I needed the drain unclogged now. Vlad showed up between the hours quoted and got to work post haste w/the pipe snake. Wow! He had the drain unclogged faster than you can get into a girls pants at a rave while she's peaking on ecstasy!

Nuff said. If I ever have plumbing problems again I'm calling Performance Plumbing!

Wow, plumbing problems just never happen at a convenient time. When we had an issue with our main drain, our home warranty company referred us to Performance Plumbing. I was so pleased to get an appointment just a few hours later.

Bart, the plumber, arrived smack dab in the middle of the time window they quoted. He insisted on wearing shoe covers upon entering our home, from all the places I go, believe me, I should wear them.

I appreciated how he explained everything in a very detailed way.
He tended to our issue and got authorization to fix another related problem. Saved me from having to call again in the near future, I'm sure!

Great service! Highly recommended. We had moved our stove for remodeling and noticed a gas leak. I called at 6 pm and Alex came at 8 pm. He even made a second visit 2 days later to help us hook up our stove and to check for gas leaks. Fantastic!

Alex from Performance installed a ceramic apron-front kitchen sink and a Takagi Jr. tankless water heater. Both jobs were riddled with obstacles as my building was built in 1920's. Nothing standard about this building!! The sink required him to carefully punch out extra holes for the disposal switch and an air gap. And the heater had to be installed over 8 feet high.
With all the pesky problems with my building, he completed the work in a professional manner, and the end results are top notch.

He is thoughtful and takes pride in his work! Skeptics like me would find this hard to believe, I know.

Call Performance and ask for Alex when you need a plumber.

Alex came out to fix my water heater and he was terrific. He took the time to explain everything to me and why certain things needed to be done. He is a repairman who treats people well and does his job with an excellent demeanor and great skill. HIghly recommend Alex.

I called the Performance Plumbing to come early morning. They gave me a time between 10:00 and 11:30. I was really hoping they would not come at 11:30 and was very happy they came just after 10.

Replacing the system in the back of the toilet, they found that the connection to the wall was leaking and should be replaced. I said go ahead and when he was done he showed me the parts which is the small pipe he took out of the wall. It looked really old and was really happy we avoided a potential problem. Besides, he also fixed a leaky faucet.

He was gone just before 1P.M. I did not compare prices but it seemed reasonable considering he seemed to have fixed so much professionally, quickly and cleanly.

I had my second clog in 9 months since I moved into my current place. The pipes are old and even though I do what I can to prevent anything but water going down the drain, I got another clog.

Decided to try Performance Plumbing this time and called around 11am. I was able to schedule a plumber to come between 2 & 4pm the same day. Received a call around 12 that he was running early and was just around the corner, could he come now?

Not only did he arrive early, but I was charged much less than what the last company charged me! The visit took at MOST 15 minutes to snake my drain and I can once again shower without standing in a puddle. Thank you!

I have used Performance 5 times now. It is a blessing when you can find a company that is available, communicative and reliable!
Vlad and now Mike have both fixed plumbing problems for me. They were good and explained anything I wanted to know.
Yelena is very professional on the phone when scheduling and Mikhail the owner even called me back when I had a question.
I don't want them to get too busy;but, I wouldn't be spending this time telling you if I didn't really think they are good.

Five stars for responsiveness, I didn't actually need any work done. I've been plagued by a smell in the bathroom and was worried it was mold or gas or something, so I thought I'd call a plumber to at least confirm whether it's sewer gas or not. Performance Plumbing came and despite saying it did not smell like sewer gas to him, he still turned on taps and smelled drains to try to get a better clue of the smell I was perceiving. Even though it was clear he wouldn't be getting any real work from me at that point (the smell was likely a result of poor ventilation) he still stuck around to alleviate my fears and give simple suggestions. I had another plumber from another plumbing company come by earlier in the week, but he was very dismissive and didn't even try to sniff around and instead pointed out little jobs he could do, so I felt like he wasn't taking the perceived problem seriously. But now after having Performance Plumbing come by I feel comforted that it definitely isn't sewer gas (unfortunately it's still a mystery, but that's one option down). I really appreciated the effort to address what I believed was a problem and would love to use this company if I have plumbing issues in the future.

I've used these guys a couple of times for me and they always did a quick and good job. 24 hour service means really 24 hours, 2 months ago during those heavy rains I had to call them at 3 am in the morning. The water from our toilet came up and covered our whole bathroom and hallways. They came by 6am in the morning and managed to make things much better. Pleased with their responsiveness and helpful attitude, I will call them agin in case of emergency.

I was super impressed with the service. They were available to come by in less than 24 hours. Alex was on-time, very professional, and quickly cleaned our full drain pipe. My home insurance company recommended these folks. The plumber showed up 10 minutes after the window that he was supposed to show for ended. Then, he fixed the problem with my garbage disposal but in the process broke a pipe. He claimed it was because of a faulty installation and not his fault and that I needed a new garbage disposal for 300 bucks plus installation. I said, I didn't trust his judgement since it was clear that the pipe had been fine for many years before he showed up. Finally, he called his boss who told him to fix the mess he'd made. He did. Of course, because he was late I also missed an appointment. I would not recommend these folks.

Even though I called at 10:30pm on a Sunday night, Mike, the owner, came out in under an hour. He got a difficult job done in under an hour and charged us exactly what he quoted. Of course, he was professional and courteous. But what really really impressed me is that he found a severe problem with our plumbing that would have to be dealt with at a later time. Not only did he explain the problem in a way we understood but he told us we should call all his competitors and get bids for the job. They would be happy to bid but we should shop around to make sure were happy. Wow. Honestly, I'd rather have these guys do the job even if they dont have the best bid. I trust them.

This is a review for service done a few years ago. As I was having some ro work done in a skylight, I decided to replace the drain covers. After talking to the owner, I felt he had a very good understanding of plumbing concepts and was able to articulate the process and potential issues so I decided to use them. I don't think they were the cheapest, but reasonable and based on his knowledge, someone I could trust. He replaced the drain covers, and mentioned the crud that dropped into the drain and mentioned snaking it, but did not do it at the time of the cover replacement. Well, it rained shortly thereafter, and guess what...it backed up and resulted in significant water leakage into the building. It took awhile to figure out what was causing the leak. I called him, he came out and figured out the problem and finally snaked the drain. However, no apologies, and no offer to make up for the oversight. Now, I am not sure if the moisture eventually evaporated, or I have a growing mold problem! Net, I think they do quality work, not the cheapest, but I feel should have acknowledged or offered something for their oversight. A missed opportunity for a good business practice in the service industry.

No game playing by the first point of contact, person on phone who gives you a quote. I've had to deal with It's 3X for the job, now let's negotiate to 2X fair pricing.

Appointment Time:
Responsive, can tell you how long the plumber is from your house. Great at setting expectations. Only 2 hour window too.

Work:
Very professional, quick, knowledge, thorough. I thought they had cleared the drain but Alex told me he didn't think so. More work and finished right on time (as I had another appointment following this one).

Amazing teamwork, they deserve your business. Why can't other plumbing companies model themselves like this one? Clearly the benchmark to beat. Excellent (and full disclosure I am not a fan trades people who jerk consumers around)

I know they're good at fixing leaks and clogs, but let me tell you that we had a two-week job, and their performance was outstanding. This was replacement of outdated exterior plumbing in a lightwell in a six-unit condo in San Francisco. Fortunately, it didn't have to be done right away, so we waited until rainy season was over (they fixed any leaks while we waited). They got the permit and the parking permit, did the work with a minimum of noise and irritation to the residents, and in less time than they had estimated, and the work passed the inspection the first time. We paid what we had contracted, with no change orders or complaints about unexpected problems, and they even fixed a plastic plumbing with no permit problem at no additional charge so it would pass the inspection.

And with a one-year warranty, we don't expect to see them again for a while, though we'll certainly call them for unrelated leaks and clogs that may occur in the future.

Alex worked late to get our hydrojet cleaning done and I really appreciated his diligence. On the recommendation of another plumber, we contacted Performance Plumbing specifically to hydrojet our kitchen drain line. Having seen pics of the inside of our 60 year old kitchen pipes, I was disgusted and about to get the whole thing replaced when I learned about the hydrojet process. So far, so good!

I am a property manager and have worked with Performance Plumbing for 3 years on many jobs in many different locations and situations. The greatest thing is the techs (who complete the job) are always available to follow up on the phone, explain the options, suggest best course of action. They have the owner's best interests in mind. Also great backup in the office, they are small enough still so the office knows where the techs are and everything is accounted for. Highly recommend, one of my go to vendors.

We moved into an apartment with an expensive, unique french shower (Herbeau) that wasn't putting out hot water. Based on yelp reviews we called Performance. The plumber came on time, and admitted he had never seen our type of exposed thermostatic shower before. He claimed his assistant would research it and he would call us in a week. No call, so we called Performance. Promised again to get back to us - still researching. Yet another week went by and no follow up. Finally called the US Herbeau distributor myself (took 2 minutes online to find it), and was given a local supply firm for the needed part. I get my shower is unique, but if you can't fix it just tell me. Don't string me along.

I have used performance plumbing a bunch of times, anything from small jobs to large plumbing installation, interior and exterior work. The professionalism, promptness and amount of flexibility is unbeatable by one in this profession. The quality is superb and prices are very fair even a shady looking character who goes by the name of Vlad does incredible work. I would recommend performance plumbing 10 out of 10 times. anyone who gave this company less then 4 stars must have called the wrong guys.

The other business that performed the work was very fast, friendly, and it was done to code. I notice Performance didn't defend its price-gauging in its response. Watch out for this one. You need three basics from a plumber: (1) they come when they say they will; (2) they fix the problem, and (3) the price is reasonable. Doing those three gets you 4 stars in my book. The extra star because Vlad is a very pleasant and articulate guy who explains things so that you can do the simple stuff yourself and not have to call him out every time. I had a clogged kitchen sink, and after trying several bottles of liquid plumber, decided I needed to call a real one. I saw that Performance Plumbing had favorable Yelp reviews and comparatively reasonable prices, and decided to give them a shot. I called and they scheduled an appointment for that afternoon. One of the plumbers had time free up earlier, and they called back to tell me he could come earlier than scheduled, which was great. The plumber--Vlad--showed up, opened the pipe, got rid of the clog, and also found and repaired a leak while he was at it. He also took time to investigate and advise us about a sewer gas smell in our bathroom -- all for the reasonable, quoted price of $65.

Their plumbers had to replace a defective water shut-off valve to a toilet, a job that a couple of other plumbers I called declined. They removed the toilet and replaced it and even carried the old toilet to the garage. They were fast and completed both jobs in less than an hour, and the price was reasonable, less than Home Depot. They would have taken the toilet for a fee, but I know a place that accepts toilets for only $5.

Not sure about the services they provided to others on this forum, for me..this guy from this company came and GOD knows what they told my insurance company that they denied my insurance claim and I was in the mess of plumbing issue (with water overflowing over my new carpet) for a week. Although another plumber who we called earlier had no problem with my insurance company and my insurance company approved him to do whatever he wanted to fix it. I guess these people want to make more money on other's expense/problems. I will not recommend this company to anyone else. They gave us so much run around with our insurance company and didnot fix our problem.

I had to replace my sewer line and again hired Performance Plumbing. Alex did a great job. He arrived on time, finished the job on time, passed inspections first time. His price was much less than another bid I got for the job. He is so easy to work with.

dennis is a nice guy but overall, i would avoid performance plumbing. he came to our house twice to fix a leaky faucet in the bathtub and gave us very short-term fixes both times. (we appreciated them, but we didn't ask for a short-term fix.) when the pipe exploded soon after, someone else at performance had us drive across town to a plumbing supply store for replacement supplies, yet we were told we'd need much more information. in fact, they said the plumber should have dismantled our bathtub fixtures to provide us with this information before sending us to the supply store. when i called to complain to performance, i was told someone would be over within an hour. that person never came. when i called again to ask that someone please come over and help us the following day, my call was never returned. if you have a serious plumbing issue, you might look elsewhere.

I called the day after Christmas when I noticed a leak under the kitchen sink. My usual plumber was on vacation so I found this one on Yelp. Vlad came within hours and repaired it quickly. He had the part that had rusted through and replaced it. The price was reasonable price, he was knowledgeable and efficient. I'll definitely call Performance Plumbing again.

Was referred to these guys via a home warranty after the first plumber they sent over couldn't get the job done. The tech Performance Plumbing sent over was professional and came up with several potential solutions to our toilet issue. After getting the repair cleared by the warranty people, he came back on time and fixed the toilet perfectly. I was also very impressed with the follow up from the office staff. Great plumbers and I won't hesitate to use them again-

Great guys! Called at 8:00 AM on a Sunday morning after hot water heater broke. Alex was here (Inner Richmond) by 9:30. He diagnosed and fixed problem in less than 15 minutes. He replaced parts, explained what had happened and told me what to look out for with this water heater. Fast, knowledgeable and pleasant - can't ask for better.

What a great company! I needed to replace an old faucet and called these guys based on the positive Yelp reviews. Vlad showed up on time, was a pleasure to deal with, did the job quickly--overcoming the usual problems here and there--and surprised me by charging even less than originally quoted. Perfomance Plumbing was very good. They gave me a very reasonable bid over the phone to do what I thought was needed (replacing the water heater's thermocouple). The actual problem turned out to be different - the entire input valve assembly needed to be replaced (a considerably more expensive part). We found this out only after Alex had replaced the thermocouple as per my instructions. No problem, he went back in and fixed it. Total time: about 3 hours. Total cost, including thermocouple and input valve: $215, which is a very fair price for the parts and labor. I really appreciated the fact that when the problem proved more complex they didn't try to take advantage of the situation. I recommend them highly.

Very responsive. Diagnose my problem in minutes, which was a leak under the kitchen sink. Flexible on the time and showed up right when he said. Mike replaced a part and even checked out the water heater and faucet to identify possible calcium deposit sources. Definitely would use again.

These guys are the best. Vlad has been to our house 3 times. He is knowledeable, timely, and very well priced. Other plumbers who have come to our house through our home warranty system were horrible. They are either clueless or try to cheat you. With Performance Plumbing, you are getting true professionals. After calling a few friends for referrals and being told they were too busy or out of business I went to Yelp. It was a simple fix however there was a leak and it needed to be done as soon as possible. Came out the same day! Quoted me on the phone the same as in the house. I asked for a few more pipes to be replaced. So my decision add on. Good price. He even offered advice on where to buy products (My mistake other has told me also). Took the time to look at other work that needs to be done and gave a rough estimate. All in all I was very pleased. Price is not low. But efficient, timely and helpful. I have put the company into my phone. That means I will be using again as the need arises.
