Great experience with Anton's. I have been a customer for over five years. They have replaced my AC and furnace. And I use their maintenance plan.
Last week Anton's came to our property in Soulard where they installed a furnace and AC. This was a process that had been started last summer. On a recommendation I called Anton's to come over for one last bid before we made our decision. I'm so glad we did!
The salesman that came for the bid was friendly professional and offered advice that wasn't pushy. One thing that I appreciated right away was Anton's sales. He had seen the service sticker from another company, which he so happened to had worked for in the past. Explained the differences about the two companies (which made Anton's stand out more) and never once said anything bad about the competitor. As a sales woman myself I admire and respect when people choose the high ground when it is way easier to bad mouth the competition.
Unlike the other bids I received, Anton's was the quickest to come back and the most detailed. I was given pricing for different models and also what the rebates from Ameren were.
Installation day came, and it went smoothly. The team showed up on time and was courteous and professional. They took great effort to ensure that my house was just as they found it. From the crane to the clean-up it was more than I could hope for. I am looking forward to continuing business with them in the future.
Oh and the price- they were about 3k and some change under the company we were originally going to go with!
I live in an old house that is heated by radiant heat via a boiler. The boiler requires routine maintenance so I have a particular company (I'll call them CM) come out about once a year. They were last here in October and determined our boiler was in satisfactory shape.
Then Thursday night (1/24) in the middle of the night we discovered our heat was not working, which can happen even to systems in overall satisfactory shape. I found a place called Anton's that opened earlier than CM, so I called them right at 7AM when they opened and had them come out. The technician got the boiler going but claimed a worrisome amount of carbon monoxide was coming out of the system. I pressed him for how much was spilling out, but he had no answer because he apparently didn't have the proper equipment to measure carbon monoxide levels. He recommended replacing the entire boiler for $8,867.00 without offering any other more cost effective options.
Regardless of what CM had reported in October, I would have received a 2nd or 3rd diagnosis before spending $8,867.00. I had CM come out that night to take a second look at the boiler. They brought equipment to measure the amount of carbon monoxide being omitted from the system, and their test revealed no threat. They fixed the system for $505.00 which included overtime and paying for a piltot tube that Anton's mistreated, two expenses I wouldn't have incurred if CM came out first, so the repairs would have been quite a bit less than $505.00.
I complained to Anton's quite a bit, and the owner, Craig, personally took my calls and came out to my house with another technician to look at the boiler on 1/29. They brought a carbon monoxide detector (which again revealed no threat) and made some recommendations to improve the safety of my system, which I will likely make. This does not, however, excuse the fact that just 5 days earlier one of their technicians claimed I had a carbon monoxide issue, which has been proven a couple of times now to be false. I trust that Craig and team will make the necessary changes to how they go about making claims of carbon moxide issues without it being factual.
I wish I could give Anton's 5 stars based on the service I've received since 1/24, but I won't overlook a mistaken claim of dangerous levels of carbon monoxide - something that can be deadly and should obviously taken extremely seriously.

I had been with Anton's for 9+ years. I finally cut the cord. They were knowledgeable and had good people in the office and Ronan and other technicians were good as well. The problem was this-the upselling. EVERY TIME they came out they would try to upsell and it was always for thousands in repairs and improvements to your system. The last time they were out, the new technician wanted me to let Anton's tear and reinstall a hot water heater to code (he claimed it wasn't up to code, but one call and an email to my plumber got me the verification that it was) and do treatment to my ducts because I wasn't getting enough buckets of air. The hot water heater quote was for over $2k and the duct treatments were $3500. This was NOT the only time for the upsell and it just gets old. My new company has already come out and not one hint of trying to upsell me and they did a maintenance check that caught something (debris in a hose) that Anton's had overlooked that was causing my HVAC to malfunction. This should have been checked and cleaned out during the normal maintenance visit from Anton's but it wasn't the technician was too busy trying to upsell me.
Then, I went to cancel my maintenance agreement with them (I signed up in Dec. 2019) and they refused to prorate a refund back to me claiming that I made a year long pact. I most definitely did, but was unsatisfied with the performance and should be entitled to a pro-rated portion back as I have only used 1 of 2 maintenance visits and it is Aug. 7 and the contract expires in the middle of December.
My advice is to STAY AWAY!!! I wish I had switched sooner as my new company is more responsive, zero upselling, and more thorough in their work.

Gosh, I wish I had read reviews before hiring them.
So, first things first, the guys they send out as well as their customer service representatives are very polite.
Having said that, this company does not seem to be in the business of maintenance, they are more of a you want to buy a new system type of company.
Their maintenance (and those are big quotes) service is cheaper than going with a certified dealer for your particular furnace/ac.
As a new homeowner I needed to have some maintenance done no my furnace as I have no idea where that thing has been, the guy that came out immediately gasped at the sight of it, turns out, the line of furnace that I have had fame for giving people carbon monoxide poisoning, I ask him about my carbon monoxide detectors and he tells me would not trust my life in a 40 dollars detector.
I start asking questions, he starts finding defects in a 60 year old house where people lived there basically their whole life with no issues. He tells me the ducts are too small, the unit is too big and basically that I need an entire overhaul of the system. He also applies some good old fearmongering when I start questioning him about the furnace and basically leaves me with the impression that the thing is a death trap but I can do with that information what I want.
Without me asking first, he starts building a quote for a new system, this was also done after only a visual inspection of the unit, no service or maintenance was done, when I setup the appointment they told me the service included a filter, he did not even replaced that (I also washed my electronic filter by myself).
So he leaves, I stand in awe. Did I actually bought a death trap?
Fortunately, there is a whole world of information out there. Turns out the furnace that I have was indeed from a line that had an active recall on them IF THEY WERE PURCHASED 5 YEARS BEFORE MINE, so he failed to mention that the death trap was actually an older model. There is also an actual service that can be performed to them, however the
I go and get some Carbon Monoxide detectors, sitting pretty at 0 blasting the heat all the way up to 80.
Final thoughts, the guy that came out, seemed to be willing to help (he even mentioned the carbon monoxide monitors instead of just an alarm), however, he lacked the complete information about the furnace that I have, neglected to replace the filters or really perform any maintenance other than a visual inspection. The feeling that I had is that he was actually been directed to try and push new systems.
Also, if you are going to replace your furnace, shop around, their maintenance plan is cheap, but their furnaces and installation services are actually outrageously high.
It's the end of July in St Louis & my air condition crashes. Makes your heart sink but Anton's response time & service made a challenging situation a lot easier. They were very professional, thorough and responsive.
I dont know how these ppl got 3.5 stars. Ive had three different ppl come out and couldnt get it working. Its the coldest winter ive ever experienced. This tech John Kody came out I swear to God within a reasonable time he got it working blowing heat. I thought i was gonna lose my turtle and some pipes in this temperature... how in the hey did these ppl get three in a half stars. Thank God for John and he did ran test upon test and i just told him stop explaining because emotionally im going through a lot...lol. Sure a friendly team of ppl even down to the woman that took my call to set up the appt. thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It really means something when you find good ppl.

I called Anton's after a furnace quit working on a house that I rent out. It was one of the coldest days of the year (6 degrees F outside). The technician, Ronan, diagnosed the problem as a faulty limit switch, and said he could replace it. It was a high price for an easy fix, but Ronan knew he had me bent over a barrel as I had to get heat back for my tenants. So I agreed to the charge. After the limit switch was replaced, the furnace still would not work. Ronan said it was because the A-coil was compacted with debris from the previous owner not using a furnace filter. Because of this, there was essentially no airflow. He said that it was so bad, and the furnace was so old (10 years) that it would be better to replace the whole thing. He was a good salesman, and was really putting the pressure on me. I asked if he could just remove the A-coil temporarily just to get the heat back - I was searching for options. No dice. Luckily, I had a friend in the neighborhood that knows his way around a furnace. He went over there, cleaned the a-coil (spent about 20 minutes on it), and got the airflow back to normal, and charged me $200. As it turns out, that was the issue - the a-coil was dirty, and needed to be cleaned. Antons was pressuring me to replace the whole system, and neglected to mention the option where the technician cleans the A-Coil and gets the heat back on in 20 minutes.
Anton's was deceptive, dishonest, and used their leverage to overcharge me and try and pressure me into buying a whole new system. If you're here looking for a reputable HVAC service company, keep looking.
We have had such good luck with Anton's. The service reps who we have worked with have been professional and explain things to us so that we can understand what is going on with our homes heating and cooling systems. We had an evaluation done a few weeks ago to see what was working and not working and came up with some plans on how to make our home more energy efficient.
Anthony has been to our house twice now to evaluate and inspect our systems. During the last visit he had a partner with him and I cannot for the life of me remember his name, but they worked great together! They checked our vents and explained how the ducts were set up. They collected data and shared the data with us. Having the two of them inspect things was just fine and when it was time to sit down and discuss options I think we made some good decisions on how to proceed.
We will have them back in a few months to do some duct cleaning, insulation, air purifying and other things. I know we need to have things taken care of and I trust they are the company to take care of these things.

I called them mid-afternoon and they were at my house 2 hours later. Quick, simple, and right to the point. I will use them again.
Not happy with their work. Used them for twenty years or more, but last year when my ac broke they came out and fixed it, only to find out from a friend that the part they replaced was only $15 and they charged me over $400. Ok everyone needs to make money, but when you have been a customer for this long you would think you would get a break. By the way it is broken again(same part)

Super expensive parts, recommending unneccessory repairs are what I just uncovered from the latest visit for furnace call. Parts are marked up 20 to 35 folds.
Have a broken air conditioner? Just call these guys and don't bother comparing prices. I have already done the leg work for you, just trust me on this one.
These guys are awesome. There is no other way to describe them. They show up on time, they do perfect work, they are friendly, and their bid was hundreds (yes, hundreds) less than the other guys I had in my place checking out my very old broken down air conditioner. Also, it wasn't hard to get an appointment. I simply called up, and within the week my home was cool and I was less miserable. I have never had such good service from air conditioning guys.
I can't speak for their heating work directly, but seriously, if it's even remotely as quality as their air conditioning work it's top notch. I can't imagine why it would really be any different.

I hired this company for an unbiased energy audit of my house. What I got was a big sales pitch to perform thousands of dollars of HVAC service. The sales person that came out was very nice, but I could tell his intent was to sell and not to inform. I got no advice on how to save energy. Their solution was focused only on sealing the HVAC duct system and other unrelated service (whole house humidifier, air purifier). Maybe it was my fault for picking a HVAC company to do an unbiased audit. Spent $189 but not happy about it. The one positive is that I asked the sales person to bring out his infrared camera, and that gave me more info than anything else. I'm not commenting on any other portion of their service, just the unbiased energy audit felt very biased.
Anton's completely misdiagnosed our unit. Kevin, the tech, told us the entire unit had to be replaced and quoted us 5K for a new Rheem. We got a second opinion and the contactor was replaced for $250 and it was as good as new. Anton's did refund me the $125 service call when I called to complain about their unscrupulous business practice. But no explanation for why their service tech missed an easy fix. I've chatted with other neighbors via local facebook groups and apparently this has happened to many of them as well. STAY AWAY from Anton's. They will try to cheat you out of your money. I would give a zero star if I could.
The people at Anton's are friendly, knowledgeable and punctual. My air conditioner is older and went out. I was quoted for a new unit because the compressor was locked up. I was uncomfortable and called a 2nd company to test a fix for the compressor, which I would then purchase if it worked. I was not offered a test with Anton's -- it was a purchase and hope for the best -- or buy a new unit.
When the 2nd company came out, the first thing they asked was about the capacitor, which was not mentioned during service call with Anton's. The capacitor showed obvious signs of deterioration -- it was bowed on the top & bottom. When tested, the capacitor was not functioning.
A new capacitor (relatively inexpensive fix) got the air conditioning up and going. No locked compressor, no coolant leaks....
This was explained to me as being the same as if you took your car in to the dealer and told them it wouldn't start, and the dealer didn't look at it, but said you needed a new engine....I was told the capacitor should have been the FIRST thing they checked, instead of not being mentioned.
Needless to say, I was disappointed.
This was probably the worst customer service experience I have had in a while. I woke up Thursday morning to discover my 4 year old furnace, which Anton's installed, quit working. I called and Technician #1 came out. He said theparts he needed to repair it were not available in town I would have to wait until Friday for repairs. Technician #2 came out Friday afternoon and repaired the furnace. I woke up Sunday with no heat. Technician #3 came out pretty quickly and said I had a drainage issue that he couldn't repair until the following day but he had rigged something up that would keep it going overnight. However about after an hour after he left the furnace quit working again.. It was a really cold night. They called me early on Monday and said someone would be out later that day-they couldn't give me a time estimate at all. Technician #2 back came at 4pm and said the issue was something totally different than what the Sunday technician had said. Since the warehouse closes as 4:30 he couldn't get parts until the next day. He THOUGHT he had fixed it well enough to last over night but he couldn't be sure. I was not happy that I was being told 2 totally different things by 2 different guys. I called the answering service and asked to speak to a supervisor. Technician #1 called me back and said it looked like Technician #3 was totally wrong and someone would be back to fix the problem that Technician #2 had diagnosed. Luckily the temporary repairs held and I wasn't cold that night. Again the next day they couldn't tell me a time someone would come. Technician #2 came back about 2:00 BUT HAD THE WRONG PARTS! He had to drive somewhere to pick them up and come back. I feel very uncomfortable that we were told different things by different people. I am just hoping these repairs hold. I would encourage you to find someone else to repair your furnace.
Overpriced! Don't bother! They charge triple for an r22 AC recharge, over everyone else in the area!
Bought a loft and first day have water pouring out of the bottom of the A/C blower. Called and Anton's got me scheduled within a few hours. Anthony was very upfront and honest when he told me he could not work on our unit because it was a water supplied heat pump. He was not able to provide a full function check so he could not guarantee the work. I appreciate the honesty and they did not charge me for the visit. Still looking for someone that can work on this type of system.
I've used Anton's for many years for my business. When my home unit was having problems, I didn't even think of calling anyone else. Jackie in the office got someone to my house very quickly, and Mark came out today. He quickly diagnosed the problem, and made sure I understood everything. I will definitely continue to use them for all of my HVAC needs.
Regret not reading past the first few reviews. Anton's is unfortunately an upselling machine that is way overpriced than others. It is my fault for reaching a rushed decision to replace a broken AC over a hot summer. But I do recall both times they came out for different reasons, they always suggest me replacing everything. I hope future clients are warned.
Dan was extremely knowledgeable and explained in detail the problems that were found. Was very thorough with the inspections. Have used Anton's for the past few years and don't even bother to call anyone else!
I called at 7:30 AM this morning to make an appt if possible for after 3PM today. I specifically asked how late technicians worked and was told it just depends. I also told the lady this was not routine as I was having problems with my air not working. I told her that if they are that busy to let me know so I can make other arrangements. I received a call shortly after 5 PM stating no technicians are available and they want to reschedule. Unfortunately I work 12 hours the next 4 days. Thanks for all your help Anton's!

Our faucet was leaking but the Anton plumber, who was there for another issue, told me they do not do faucet repairs. Was told our hot water valve needed replacing but it was not leaking (upsell). Signed an agreement with the understanding the plumber would replace a 450.00 Kohler faucet with a Delta faucet with a value of 300.00 or more. He left and returned with a Moen faucet which he said was comparable and heavy duty. After he left (and cashed my check) I found my faucet on the Moen website for 99.00. When I complained to the Anton Plumbing manager Ceci she sent me a pie chart of their business model to help me understand why I was charged 1,000.00 for strapping an exhaust fan pipe that had slipped and replacing a hot water valve and installing a bottom of the line faucet. Now you know. If you like being ripped off this company is for you!

I called Anton's based on the amazing reviews here. I have a furnace control valve that is leaking. The woman who answered the phone asked what that was, told her it was part of the heating unit. Her response was we don't repair those. I asked her if there was anyone who does and she said she didn't know. Most companies with great customer service will tell you where you can go to find what you need. Not impressed.
I feel like each time they came out there was such a big upsell and that the maintenance package was just a way to make us pay for more things that might break down.
First time we had them to come out and service our AC, we were told it needed a new coil. We have 2 systems and the upstairs one was the issue. We ended up agreeing to a $11,000 job. The job also included seeing why one of my vents in the bedroom didn't push air, that resulted in a hole in my ceiling to close it up but we understood the process beforehand.
We also got the vent sealed with some glue. But the issue was that they came out to my house 3 times for the same job. One time the machine stopped. Another time they had to find out what was causing the leak. Third time was to finish the job. But in light of all that they also used our new Shop Vac to clean up the mess. They did end up replacing it, but apparently the tech told them we gave them permission to use it, which we didn't.
So, next thing to happen a few months later was an accumulation of water in the new unit that shut it off mid summer due to the fact that the unit shouldn't have water that close to wires. They came out and addressed the issue and it was fixed.
Fast forward to the winter for the maintenance, they said we had some sensors that may go out soon that we should replace. Of course we are like, ok so are we ever going to have a visit where we don't have to spend money? We ended up agreeing to it, along with a FloTech system and pairs another $2000 for it all.
Fast forward we find out from another plumber that the FloTech is going to cause more harm than good on an old water heater with tons of calcification on the pipes and we were feeling pretty duped that they didn't tell us that the calcification break up would cause leaked because it's like a band aid over a cut. We now see that they push sales, and maybe they are more of a jack of all trades type place that shouldn't be selling things that can cause more plumbing issues without knowing plumbing inside and out.
Overall, I have an extra star because the last reps that came out were very helpful and because customer service replaced the Shop Vac. Even though this last visit ended up being two visits because something was done wrong, again... the guys were helpful and nice and helped us with something with our dryer vent just to be helpful.
I would recommend that you don't have the reps push something each visit, and to be sure the job is done right the first time. I didn't like having them come back over and over again for one issue.
After using this company for many years, I realized they were no longer the firm I started with. After Mr. Anton retired, they seem to be in the business of selling upgrades. I had a maintenance agreement with them. In recent years, they never left without writing up a proposal of several thousand dollars worth of equipment or accessories they felt was necessary. When my son saw what they were trying to sell me, he encouraged me to find another HVAC company. Which I did.
Anton's has now replaced three major appliances in our home and we couldn't be happier with the products, services and team members. Most recently we had a seasonal check on our new furnace and Dan pointed out that our water heater was over 25 years old. We decided to replace our 25 year old water heater and the process was so easy. I didn't have to make one phone call, Dan and the staff made all the arrangements for us and within three days Dan was back to install our brand new water heater. Dan was very polite and super friendly to our dog, who is super needy, answered any and all questions we had, and worked so quickly. Our new water heater has been a game changer. Not only do we have excellent hot water, as we upgraded to a bigger option, but our water pressure has improved drastically. We have been so satisfied with the customer service of Anton's and will continue to turn to them for our in home needs.
Prompt, courteous and honest. Came out in less than 24 hours during a heat wave to check out my broken AC. The technician called ahead to let us know he was on the way. He explained all options and recommended the least expensive option for us. I will use Anton's again.
I've been utilizing Anton's for my personal and investment property and have always been satisfied with their operation and quality of service.
I recently engaged Anton's for a service call at a duplex and it was carried out quickly and for a reasonable diagnostic fee. The specific technician, Mark A, was both professional and courteous.
It'll Cost You
Anton's lost a costumer this week. They are way overpriced and should not be called a HVAC repair company but more of a HVAC salesmen and installers company. This company takes advantage of people who trust that their repair quotes are competitive and do not shop around.
Let's start with the good. I have used them for 2 years and every time I called, a repairman was out to my house the same day. The repairmen appear to be competent and know how to correctly fix a HVAC problem.
Now for the bad. I called and asked them to come out, when I was talking to the dispatcher, I said that I would like to use the free service visit if a repair was performed coupon; however, the technician left the fee on the bill when it was time to pay. I had to remind the technician to remove the charge. During my entire interaction with the technician and prior repairs to my 2nd unit, I kept getting the feeling that they really wanted to sell me a new system, instead of fixing my old system. Also, Anton's continuously tried to push me into their membership program.
For this repair, I had to have a new capacitor installed to even be able to test the system, Anton's charged me $400+ dollars to do the work (I later found out that a different company would have only charge ~$200). The technician discovered that my freon was low and that there must be a leak. They wanted to charge me $1,100+ to check my system for a leak and that it would cost $300+ per pound of freon. Luckily for me, they didn't have the dye to do the test and would have to do it another day.
I decided to do a price check and found out that a different company only charges $70 per pound of Freon (instead of Anton's $300+). I immediately lost any trust I had with Anton's and felt taken advantage of for a markup of 4x. I called and canceled the leak test the next day. The new company only charged $75 for a leak search of the interior unit (would have been an additional $75 to search for a leak of my compressor) and discovered a leak in my A-coil. How can Anton's charge $1,100 for a dye leak test and the second company do it for $75? I feel that this price difference is ridiculous. I ended up having my system replaced but I'm confident that if I would have still used Anton's, I would have been over-charged and pushed to go with one of Anton's preferred systems.
I would not recommend Anton's to anyone.
TL;DR Don't be like me and be lazy and not get multiple quotes for HVAC work. Anton's prices are ridiculously marked up 428% per pound of freon and 1,467% per leak search. I would not recommend anyone to use Anton's Air Conditioning and Heating.
Here is my email to them
to whom it may concern,
this is my official notice to please cancel my hvac contract with your organization for my address(es)
from the entire time of being under contract I have not received any quality service.
last year someone came out and told me we had a hole in our furnace and showed me a iphone pic to prove it and they said they had to shut us down and I told them to get out of our house. I have since had it looked at and no one can find any hole.
a few months ago I called for summer turn on our air condition. a guy came out and said the blower was bad and gave me a quote and said I should replace the whole hvac we said just do the blower, another guy came out and said the wheel was also out and should of been quoted to. when they called the next week they said they needed to send a sales guy out, who knew what needed to be done. he came out and looked and said we needed to replace whole hvac.
I called another company who did what no one from anton did, they actually took the blower and wheel out and looked at the issue. they cleaned the wheel and fixed the blower.
everyone from anton was too busy trying to sell me a hvac and not fixing the problem. they didn't do basic trouble shooting and just relied on flashlights and grainy iphone pics.
please cancel my contract, I feel you should just pay me back the whole amount of the contract paid to date as there was no service or actual quality of performance ever given to us.
thanks,
john
Our A/C stopped working on Wednesday night. I called around Thursday morning, and Anton's had the soonest availability for Friday. Other companies quoted me for the following week. Bring prompt and kind customer service, I went with this company. John Cody was the technician who came to the house. He was extremely kind, friendly, and down to earth. He was also very helpful and did a thorough job. His priority was making sure the A/C worked for our family. He fixed the problem and insured that if we needed further assistance, we would be taken care of. Because of this kind of customer service, I will highly recommend John Cody/ Anton's to others in need!!!

Anthony was here to fix my furnace within a few hours of my phone call. It needed a part that was under warranty, and they were able to wave the trip charge, which I appreciated. Anthony is very professional and seems to be knowledgeable.

Very professional appearance of technicians. Friendly and did quick work. Were honest and upfront about charges. Very satisfied.
Anton's technicians are quite good when it comes to installing and maintaining furnaces and air-conditioners. About five years ago they installed a furnace, air-conditioning system, and new duct work in my home. All went well until we tried the air-conditioner which cooled our upstairs nominally, but left the basement much, much colder. The duct worked leaked profusely because it had many gaps in it and too few sheet metal screws. The owner came to my home and claimed the duct work was done correctly and suggested a very expensive procedure to correct my problem. I felt the job should have been done without the necessity to fix the problem. I have complained about the faulty duct work repeatedly but now do not even get a response from Anton's. I'll just have to go to a different company.
First, let me be clear that I can't review their quality of work for installs or repairs, because I haven't hired them for that.
I needed to replace my AC and furnace, so I sought bids from 6 companies. The Anton's bid experience was different from the other 6, and not for good reasons.
They were the highest price of the 6 bids I got. I don't begrudge a company for asking for a high price if the product/service has the quality to match it. The internet research I did suggested that the product being quoted was actually a budget/mid-tier system, not a premium product.
I also found the bid process to be the least professional out of 6, and it wasn't even close. I made it a point to go down to the basement after each bid to make sure the outside door by my AC/furnace was locked and lights were turned off. When I went downstairs after the Anton's guy left, I found the door unlocked and a metal cover to the unit left on the floor. By contrast, the other 5 locked the door, and nobody else failed to replace the cover.
The high price made it really easy to not choose Anton's, but I feel confident that if the price was comparable to the ones I was seriously considering, I wouldn't have chosen due to the lack of professionalism shown in the bid.
