HISTORY

Established in 2011.
After a little over four years in business and a humble start with one person in a rented office, One Hour Rooter in the Twin Cities now believes we are near the top of our market. Justin and Ben (Owners). We went to school together, became plumbers together and eventually opened the business together. We knew the local market and both believed we had an opportunity to build a successful drain cleaning, sewer repair and inspection business. We had a plan which included jetting and TV inspection and sewer lining. When we started, we leased an office with one bay garage it wasn't much at first but we wanted to start small and build a reputable company with great service and systems in place. We now have seven trucks on the road and ten employees. We are excited to continue or growth and success with you.

These guys are a real rip off. They charged us $1500+ To water jet a sewer line. They said they would be back to demonstrate how great the line looked, but they never returned. We should've done our research. I think we could've had this job done for 1/2 to 1/3 the price.  Avoid this company.

Zero stars but Yelp wouldn't let me choose zero!  Although they did come out promptly and the person was very pleasant, he told me that he couldn't clear the clog and that I should try the bio-something which cost $250.  He did say that if it didn't work I wouldn't have to pay for it, but he really thought I needed the jet cleaning - that was really the only thing that would work.  That was $550.  I said no to both things and paid the trip charge only.  I then called Augie's Draincleaning who came out a couple days later and cleared the clog within 15 minutes for the quoted price of $99.

DO NOT USE ONE HOUR ROOTER - it's a SCAM.

A scam. That is what these guys are.

Called due to drainage issue, came out quickly - they sent Ray. Ray seemed like a guy that understood how bad of a deal I was in. Recently moved into the home, family and needed that drainage issue solved.

He started by showing me camera footage of the drain, proving to me that indeed something was plugging the main line. He blamed flushable wipes.

Next, he sits in my dining room showing me pictures and telling me how this job could be rather costly. How costly? Tens of thousands of dollars, removing and replacing the main line to the street. 16k for this job, 15k for that. I was shaking my head, how could this be so expensive?

I told him we don't have that kind of money. But Ray had a plan. Lets go with the pressure washer, get the big jets! Its only $1500.

So when you go from 15k to $1500, to take care of an issue that needs to be completed....$1500 it is. So he calls his crew and they are in route.
That is when I decided to look up some reviews, that's when I realized I am a f'ing moron and got scammed.

So I called Ray and told him about the reviews, and he told me that he could do it for $1200 and I told him no. Then $1000, I said no again. I offered $750 and he said I will do this for you but make sure you give us a good review!

So here is your good review Ray. You, your crew, your owner and your company are garbage. Because after a month and a half, guess what happened? Take a guess, Ray. Drain clogged again. You know why?

Roots. I called another company who came out and did their job for a cost of - get this Ray - $200.

They were supposed to help us replace a water heater. Gave us the runaround for a week and a half. Then showed up without ever showing me an estimate and demanded half the money down. After I called to talk to the management about this and get an estimate for exactly what it would cost they simply packed up and left. There was no customer service available and there was a lot of attitude and no one was able to give a good answer to any of my questions

A tech from One Hour Rooter came out.  My problem was a plugged main sewer line out outside the house.  The tech showed up with an undersized machine.  The machine would be used for an interior drain, and not for a sewer line.  After a minimal effort he stated the sewer was plugged, and I would need a $1500 Hydro Jetting high pressure water clean out.  I rented a larger machine, and with minimal effort I had the line cleaned out.  A very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend their services.  I would give them a zero star rating if possible.

Great and quick service.  Price was at or below most quotes I received.  The plumber, Ben, was friendly and answered all of my questions.  He cleaned out my basement drain and now it works like new.  He also was very cautious of tracking in dirt and such - he kept the area clean and I couldn't tell that he was there.

Easily the worst experience I've ever had with an in-home repair company. The job was a slow floor drain in the basement, which led to replacing the pipe it led to. Ultimately, the work got done and technicians were good. But communication with the manager I worked with, who scheduled everything, was terrible with communication. Initial diagnosis of the problem proved to be wrong. Didn't hear anything for days after being promised a call, and was then told I was already on the calendar for a date that I wouldn't even be home for. Calling the main office was of no help because they apparently don't know what the manager is up to. Having to pay up front - before work was even done - really left me in a bind after the wrong work was initially done. Manager's first response to me asking for a lower price was to extend the warranty. Eventually agreed on a price, only for me to have to ask four times to get a refund since I was initially charged more. They eventually mailed me a check for the difference. Glad I switched to communicating with him by text message only so I had everything in writing.

Bad service. They came out, cleared the clog and the water drained. The plumber broke my cleanout plug and did not replace but told me where to get one. The plumber left my house with raw, harmful sewer gasses dumping into my house. I had to go to the store and find a cap myself. 1 week later our drains backed up again. I asked if they could come back out and fix the issue, which apparently was not resolved in the first place. They wanted to charge me again to come out and do more cleaning. I argued with management on the phone and they had no interest in making the situation right.

Their site claims they will fix the problem and leave your houses cleaner then before. Not the case in my experience. tree roots were left, sewer gasses dumping into the house and do not let them slide the machine on your stairs. Even with the stair sliders they damage the metal edging on stairs. They do note NO warranty and this is the card they will play when there is an issue.

My Main sewer line was draining slow, so I contacted one hour rooter as I liked their up front pricing model and were cheaper than many of their competitors.

The tech arrived on time and was very friendly. (The positives of the review end here). After about an hour I heard him start to pack up, so I went down and said he didn't find anything and it appeared to be draining. I turned on my Laundry sink and few minutes later water started to back up on the floor, to which he replied hmmmmph.

He commented that he did pull out a lot of grease/build up and that my line needed to be hydrojetted, for the low low price of $1,500. While this seemed outrageous, I went ahead and scheduled, but thankfully I proceeded to call around after.

I called one of their competitors and and asked how much to hydrojet a line, they quoted me 1/3 of the price of what one hour rooter wanted to charge. They then proceed to ask me questions about why I wanted my line hydrojetted. After hearing all the details, they suspected the culprit was roots and they don't recommend hydro jetting residential lines and they wanted to cable the line first, which I agreed too.

Plumber #2 arrived, and found not one, but two different points of blockage from tree roots (Mind you, one hour rooter claimed they went all the way to the main sewer and found nothing). He also pointed out one hour rooter didn't replace the clean out cover properly.

So, One hour rooter failed to the job they said they'd do and then tried to upsell. me a product they charge far more than their competitors that I didn't need.

My review may have been a little hasty as, I admit, I did not contact the company with my complaint or give them an opportunity to make it right, which is always the best practice. However, in this case, after the owner saw my review HE contacted ME & sounded genuinely interested in the negative experience I had had. After our discussion he promised to incorporate my feedback into his training procedure we had the opportunity to clarify & remedy some misunderstandings that took place during my service call.

I have a renewed faith in this small business, their staff, practices & intentions, I would use them again & would even recommend them to to my family/friends. They are honest people who are passionate about what they do & I believe that they truly care about their customers.

I figured I needed the main drain snaked, but was told I needed $575 - $1200 worth of work. I didn't have that $, and didn't trust that just because there was a bit of rust around the rim of the drain, he could ascertain that the problem a major one.
It wasn't a major one - just a slow draining main which was easily cleared.

Had a kitchen sink clog.  Called One Hour Rooter because of the $99 per hour charge.  Had the guy here for half a hour.  He did snake the drain then said there were pipes in the basement that needed replacement.  The total charge was $389 for just snaking the one drain!  Really!  After he left had to hire another plumber to fix the leaking pipes in the basement.  Only possible reason for the leaking pipes were from the snaking that One Hour did.  I feel we were totally over charged and will never call them again or suggest them to anyone.  Stay far away.

I would give zero if possible - first individual came out and told us it would 79 for service call and nineteen fifty to unfreeze our pipes. Now I know full well that $19.50 wasn't likely to be the cost - but he PURPOSELY used the phrase nineteen fifty instead of opting to say 1 thousand nine hundred and fifty. Of course, the quote guy has to leave and allow his crew to do the work after he gets the go ahead for it. He also requires a check or charge card prior to leaving. Got a buzz from our credit card company when the charge came in at $1,950. After the work was started of course.

I know that it was not a $19 job, I also know that other companies charge right around $100/$200 for what was no more than a twenty minute job. No way was this worth this a complaint was filed with BBB today and the Attorney General will be receiving a letter too outing these scam artists. We may even choose to take them to court for this clearly duplicitous scam taking advantage of people on this the coldest day in recent history.

Paid 138 dollars for nothing. Now I will say my technician Ray was a good guy. If I could hire him on the side I would. That's where the good ends. This company makes their technicians come in and high pressure sell you on rediciulous plumbing services. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! My father in law and I fixed the issue for 125 in parts and 4 hours of labor. This company wanted me to spend north of 1000 dollars with them.

We called these guys for a frozen drain pipe as they had advertised a low 100 cleaning charge + trip charge.  The plumber came over within 2 hours so that was nice.  The trip charge ended up being 40 and then we were told that we needed to up get a 420 dollar heated pressure water service to unclog the drain.

Off course we were upset since we told them the issue specifically over the phone.  It was not the plumbers fault but we should be told up front about these things.

It was cheaper to not have their $420 service and call RotoRooter who are not inexpensive in the first place.

What a waste of our time and we had to pay $140 for it.

Scam artists!!
Before he even saw the drain he started selling  me a camera trip down  the main line. I said let's at least see it. He pulled the cover off and said this is really bad we're going to have to jet this drain. For 1350. I ca. I said let's at least try and see if the snake goes in the drain.  He ran it  for less than a minute and proclaimed Oh there's no way, gotta jet it he pushed and pushed up sales, biocleaner for 500, jet cleaning ......
Long and the short of it he wouldn't snake the drain said there was no warranty and I paid him $138 just to get the hell out of my house!
I was cheated he didn't clear the clog and wasn't willing to do the job the right way. My line is backing up the next day!
I talk with a municipal sewer man who laughed at my story and said I got scammed and none of what they said was right.

I feel that I need to warn customers wanting/needing their drains cleared.
I called One hour Rooter and asked them to clear a drain under my laundry tub with a $99 coupon.
They sent a salesman that came for my credit card. Like a fool I gave it to him.
Later found out that they had tried to charge me $3000.
They sent several men over to my home where they showed me that the drain was already clear. They then cut into my main drain from the upstairs bathroom. I stopped them but not early enough because they had cut into my cast iron pipe. They requested that I sign something and I handed them the coupon. That was when I asked if they would clear the drain that I asked them to. They said No.
That was when I yelled at them to get out of my home.
I contacted my credit card company and it was informed at that point that I had been charged $9746.
OMG! $9746! So unreasonable!
I have been disputing this with the credit card company and they have been setting up all sorts of road blocks that I feel we have worked with them and after 7 months of accruing fees and interest the charge is on the credit card and as a disabled Veteran with a service dog and a TBI, this has been an incredible feat.
Never give them your credit card. Don't let them leave without a written bid and have someone else review the contract before signing anything and letting them into your home.
Never hire One Hour Rooter!

We just moved into our house in Minneapolis this past November and have quickly realized the previous owner was not someone that believed in home maintenance. So, when we went in the basement and realized water was backing up (not surprising) we made the call.
As other reviewers have said they were clean and respectful to our home, but that's where the positive stops. He looked in our line and it was filled with water and clearly blocked we could see tree roots and were told over and over how bad it was.Shame on us for not getting a second opinion. I was a bit weary because the price started at 1500 for the hydro jetting 600 for the pipe under our sink that we needed fixed 150 for the camera, and then by the time we agreed to doing it went down to a ton, but man were we happy for the reduction. So a bit later people came in and did what was paid for. My husband spoke with the original gentlemen and he asked if we wanted him to come back and look at the line now that it had been cleaned out....um , YES.
He came back and looked at it and basically told us that we needed the whole 80 feet of our main line repaired by an apoxy liner.Let me not bore you with details here's the cliff note version of all things that were untruthful and these were realized after we got a second opinion.
We were told our line would back up again in a week. Fact: Our line is now clean by the hydro jetting that was done and roots are no longer there to create the problem.
That the roots would grow back so quickly by feces and we would be back to square one. Fact: We were told in a second opinion that they are not even likely to grow back within 6 years..
That their liner was a lifetime warranty.Fact: It says that no where on the website or on our paperwork.
If all of this wasn't bad enough I was clearly extremely upset thinking my house was going to flood if i didn't get this 6300 service done IMMEDIATELY.. we didn't have the money and were trying to figure out if we could get a line of credit or loan to cover the costs. I was crying and was told on multiple occasions to not cry. I think he realized I was clearly going to be getting a second opinion he then proceeded to tell me if i got a second opinion to not show them his quote and that if anyone wanted to put another cable down our line we were running the risk of disturbing it enough that it could bust. Also, that if anyone told us we didn't need it replaced they were putting us at risk. Well, why would someone else tell me we didn't need it done? that wouldn't make them any money, the only way they would say that is if it was true. our second opinion did say at some point we will need 10 feet not 80 replaced but we had plenty of time.
What a joke. Get a second opinion!!!!!!

Check around for pricing. This company is an absolute scam . Quoted my wife a price of almost $1500 for a drain that was backed up. I politely asked them to leave and called another local company for 1/10 the price with a 90 day guarantee. Shop around - One hour Rooter is ridiculous.

Our sewer drain was clogged and we needed help ASAP as we had out of town guests coming a few days later. We called One Hour Rooter, knowing that we just needed the sewer drain snaked and figured it wouldn't take more than an hour. We had to sign the invoice up front, stating that the first hour was $99 and there was a $40 travel fee (joke!). Whatever, we needed help, so I signed it. The guy proceeded to snake the drain, but hit something hard so he gave us the next option: a $998 high-powered water spray!!! We said no thanks and sent him on his way with our drain still clogged. Not even 12 hours later, we couldn't flush our toilets or even turn on the faucets for a minute to brush our teeth without water flooding our utility closet. We called to tell them not only had our original problem not been fixed, but it had gotten much worse and to express our disappointment in their service and after a very unpleasant conversation with the manager, he agreed to refund our payment. Thankfully, we had that money back to call a real plumber, who unclogged our drain in less than an hour.

Our sewer was backing up into our basement via the floor drain.  I called MSP Plumbing, Heating, Air, whom I have used before for other issues.  They referred me to One Hour Rooter.

I scheduled One Hour Rooter to come out and quote a price for repairs.  They scheduled me within a day and arrived on time.  The general manager, Ray, made very quick assessment of my basement and came with two quotes. First, for $1824 they would hydro jet my main line and floor drain and warranty the work for 2 years.  Second, for approximately $7000 they would clean and install a liner in my main line.

For persons considering sewer repairs in general, now, please realize that a damaged main line can be a serious issue and an expensive repair.  These prices are high, approximately at the upper limit of what I was expecting.  For several reasons, I chose only to do the hydro jetting.

The cleaning crew arrived later the same afternoon and performed the service in a little over an hour.  Be advised, hydro jetting is messy and will dampen your basement.  There are some basic precautions that can be taken, and One Hour Rooter took none of them.  When they used the tool on the main line, the floor drain became a geyser of blowback.  To be fair, they did attempt to clean up afterwards.

As of this review they have been back four times to clean my main line, and will be back again this week to honor their warranty.  My sewer line has not remained clear for more than 3 weeks since the first hydro jetting.  On one occasion they cleaned it with a rooter in the morning and it was backing up again by noon.

To be clear, I have owned this home for four years with no issues whatsoever.

The problems with my sewer line are unique to me, the issues with their company and service are not.  Sewer issues can be serious and One Hour Rooter promised an expensive fix sight unseen.  I call them, the come out and clear it, it backs up within days.  They have not been able to definitively tell me why this happens.

In general, please take my situation as a cautionary tale and get at least two quotes for any sewer repair, and get a good camera viewing of what the real issue is.

Specifically though, I cannot recommend this company to anyone.  The best I can say is that they are abiding by their warranty.  I expect to see them at least once a month for the next two years.

Justin, (Owner) or (Manger)
This is a complaint against One Hour Rooter for customer no service for 4  1/2 days while this property was under warranty for which I spent $1424 to have the pipe high pressured jetted out because of tree roots.
Looking at other complaints online about this company, Justin has started off his reply back as. I'm sorry you feel this way Below is not a feeling but, the facts of this horrible customer no service situation I had to deal with. It's not about One Hours technicians, it's about the owners response and lack of communication for 4  1/2 days. I had the worst experience with their Front Desk from any company I have dealt with in decades. I would never do business with this company again. There are so many other companies in the Twin Cities that provides Customer Service, something you definitely need when you are dealing with clogged sewer pipes.
My tenant called me at 7 am Friday 12-9-16 that the main sewer drain was backing up onto the carpet in the downstairs family room. I called your office immediately and left a voice mail at 7:15 am. I called back after 8 am and spoke to Kari your employee. We went back and forth with phone calls during the day, and her final statement was, no one can get there until noon on Saturday. When no one showed up on Saturday as promised, and she did not get back to me I called again, she said she would check and pull someone out of class if needed. (Whatever that means)
Still no one showed up and after many, many, conversations with Kari we got nowhere. I requested the owner call me, and she refused to pass on this information. Kari said Justin (owner) will get the information Monday morning! When the owner manage Justin called me back Monday afternoon at 2:30 pm he said he had no idea this was taken place. I find this very unfortunate that you have no idea what takes place in your business on a critical customer issue like this. This is why you have bad customer service.
This was a health situation and One Hour Rooter has an obligation with me as a repeat customer to get there before 4 1/2 days. I had to call in a crew along with myself to clean up the backup areas on a Sunday morning. Remember I called Friday morning at 8:00 am!!!This became a health issue by this time, raw sewage. Like we spoke about on the phone Monday afternoon.  Kari knew this also, besides this was still under warranty from November 2015.  I hired your company, One hour Rooter to clean the main line, which included a camera cost and then your high pressure Jetter truck at a cost of a total cost $1424.00.
The situation went on for four in half days until Monday afternoon 12-12-2016 at 4pm before a tech was at the property. (The tech did a good job) You are at fault Justin. This is absolutely one of the worst experience's I have had with any company. This was customer no service to say the least. I checked with your competitors and other Real estate professionals and they said this type of response was absurd and

I recently had a plugged main drain and the technician who came out said that a power drain snake wouldn't work to get through the toilet paper that is blocking the main line. He Offerred to have it water jetted for $1500 then when I balked at that he said they might be able to match a competitor that does it for $1200. Then he said he could try a smaller water jet that is more appropriate for kitchen drains but there was a 50/50 shot it would work at a cost of $650. I paid the trip charge and decided to call a friend who used to be a master plumber before doing anything because something seemed fishy to me.. He thought water jetting seemed like an odd solution given what I explained to him as that is usually used for frozen pipes and he gave me the number of another company. When I talked to the owner of this company, he said there are a lot of companies out there that try to push water jetting and charge outrageous rates to rip people off when in his experience a power snake takes care of the issues 99% of the time. He said if it can go through roots it will almost always go through even the largest toilet paper clogs, which is what I had.. The plumber was nice and the woman I spoke to to complain about the experience was understanding and apologetic, but the experience made me feel like they were trying to rip me off after talking to other plumbing professionals. Another company is coming out to try to use the snake first and if that doesn't work they will water jet it for $250 per hour, but said that it usually works in the first hour of time if they have to go to the water jet. I really wished I had read the reviews before calling. My experience seems to be pretty common based on many of the reviews I'm reading after the fact about OHR. Most professionals will tell you that a snake is the right way to do the job and that there are a lot of scammers out there trying to push water jetting at outrageous prices. It's a shame because I would prefer not to have to write bad reviews and always hope I can write a good review that will help a good and honest business.  I fully expect the owner to respond to this like the other reviews I've seen and try to make some goofy excuses or talk about better training or firing the plumber in question, etc.    But I read the training bit in reviews other places that date back to 2013, so clearly that hasn't worked.

Don't believe the ads!! Every few years I have to get tree roots removed in my basement. Never an issue. This guy shows up and says I need to spend thousands. Charges me 118.00 for nothing, $79 just for inspection. Called a different plumber..$150 total, problem solved within an hour. Total bait and switch.Ha ha, just read the other reviews...was told I needed the hydro blast also.

This company is a complete nightmare.  The milked me out of $550.00 and never fixed the problem.

They came out after my sewer line backed up and opened it for $199. They told me the toilet had to come off to access line $250 more.  I was later told that it did not have to come off.  The problem persisted so they ordered a camera inspection for $100 the next morning.  after being late for the appointment, The result of the inspection was i had sludge in my line and no way to flush it.  they had no interest in the rest of the work as it would require digging up the line and putting a clean out in. They put the stool back on crooked when they left.

I had to start over and the next guy that came in showed me where the sewer line was actually broken.  so their diagnosis was wrong.  This company was the biggest ripoff I have ever experienced. I am figuring out now how to get my money back.  Stay clear as this group lack professionalism.  The main guy was one of the laziest people i have ever met in my life.

We called one hour rooter about roots in the main sewer line. They water jetted the line and tried to sleeve the pipe but ended up clogging our sewer line for 2 weeks. They ended up digging up our front yard and driveway. They never completed the job, we had to hire someone else. They waited 6 months to turn into their insurance company and we are still dealing with them now 10 months out.Do not use these people.

Liars and thieves!!!  Don't be fooled by their on-line inexpensive advertisements.  I was very clear with the dispatch on what needed to be done-- ie snake the drain in my garage with the larger snake machine.    I was told it would be $99 plus $39 service call.  Plumber came out and said it's $400 to run the snake.  I think it's all of 15 feet, and would likely take 20 minutes like last time.  Nope-- that'll be $400.   In fact, the dispatch told me the quoted fee would be for up to one hour labor.   Don't waste your time with these thieves!!!

Upselling and totally dishonest technician.  Trying to sell us an unnecessary $7000 pipe lining work to unclog and to fix the basement water backup problem.

Work done Aug, 22, 2017.

Their charge for cleaning a main line is excessive, and their equipment does not clean out the roots, which is the major cause of main line blockage.  They leave you with clean roots in your pipe.  They tell you other prices.  They did not even mention the $1500 cost for the other truck until they were writing up the bill.

One Hour Rooting advertises $99 any drain, any time.  I had called around and had selected One HR Rooting based on being a local business and the rates we were told over the phone.  Those rates were $99, $115, and $159, which was better than the $189 and $189 I had got from another rooting business.  I had described the problem that the main line was backing up, and had described it in detail.  I had asked if they had a camera as I had wanted to see what was blocking the line.  We arranged for them to come out the next day.

The green van arrived the next day and I described again how it was backing up in the main line.  The operator said that they had the wrong truck and he would have to go back for the other truck.  He said the dispatcher had not given him the right information.

He ended up calling the office for the other truck to come.  In the mean while he offered to clean the laundry room drain for $99.  I asked the home owner if she wanted that and she agreed.  He did a capable job of cleaning the laundry room drain.  During the test of the laundry room drain, I noticed that the main line was not backing up anymore.  I did mention this (three times) to the first operator.

At this time the symptoms of the main line backing up had dissappeared.  The first van operator knew of this, and had not made any mention what-so-ever that this other truck we were waiting for cost $1500.

Later that afternoon the other truck arrived, which was an identical looking green van.  It was similar equipment but a larger size, with a pump in the van.

The first van nor the second van had a camera. That was also another truck.  That meant that I would not get to see what the blockage was before the cleaning.

I was downstairs with the second operator, while the first operator was upstairs with the home owner.  There is little to describe about jetting the main line.  A hose with a cleaning head goes down the main line cleanout.

After the vans left I asked the home owner about the final bill.  This is the first that I found out about the $1500 charge for the other truck.  They had knocked off the $99 for the laundry room drain and reduced the bill to $1200 dollars.  There was also a travel charge that I had not heard about before (it is in fine print in the ad).  This was far from the $250 to $300 total cost that was expected based on information obtained from the business on the phone.

The home owner is a senior lady in her 80's.  She told me that first she heard about the $1500 cost for the other truck was when the guy was writing up the bill.   This was after that van arrived and I was downstairs with them.  Unfortunately, she just signed the bill and promised to transfer money to pay for it.

These operators had plenty of opportunity to mention the $1500 cost of the other truck.  We had talked at least 5 times about the other truck while we were waiting for it.

The second operator brought the camera around the next day.  We looked down the drain and saw alot of tree roots.  The jetting of the main line had only cleaned the dirt off the roots.
I did not get to see the condition of the line before the jetting,  because they did not have the camera.  I have no reason to believe there was anything else in the line that might need cleaning out besides the tree roots.

For the $1200, we got some clean tree roots and instructions about pouring salt down the drain to get rid of the roots.  Some tree root killer at the hardware store costs $20.

Judging by the other reviews I find now, this business has had many complaints about this $1500 jetting of the main line.  They must know that their equipment does not remove tree roots, unlike the equipment of some other rooter businesses. I have every reason to believe that they knew what would be the outcome of this jetting and chose to keep quiet about its faults and especially the cost.

Called One Hour Rooter in a hurry to fix my main drain, because it was backed up before I was going on vacation and they seemed to be the cheapest.  I now know why, tech showed up looked at the main, snaked it with one pointed tip and FIXED the problem, when all he really did was poke a hole in a root that was in the line.  I know this, because when I came home from vacation it was backed up again and I rented an electronic snake and fixed the problem myself.  I was able to pull up two larger pieces of roots and fixed the problem.  I was able to do this a novice and for half the price.  Contacted One Hour Rooter to see if they would refund part of the visit, since they didn't do anything but cover up the real problem.  No response.  I would not recommend using them for any serious issues.

One Hour Rooter are scammers at best. Called them to snake out drain in a pinch as my regular, reliable, gent was booked for the day. I assumed it would be a simple clean-out.  I had already isolated that the issue was in the drain below the house and not necessarily the section out to the street. I was at work and gave them access. Received a call from service guys stating that they scoped the line and that there was a slight drop between where the house and line out to the street connected and that if I didn't put a liner in, my basement was going to be full of sewage. Only options offered were to power jet the line for $1,000 or to put the liner in for $1,500. It was waaaay to hard of a sales job and I told the guys to just leave and I would need a second opinion. They ended the call by stating I was making a huge mistake. I was able to jury-rig a passage so that the water would drain using a section of old pex tubing in the interim...in the section under the house.

Geno's Sewer (Geno) came out the following day. Snaked it out and there was a significant blockage where I told One Hour Rooter where I thought it was (they didn't even frickin' scope the section under my house - had they it would have actually drained the line slowly and/or they would have seen the massive blockage that Geno cleaned out). Geno then scoped it for me and showed me the entire line out to the street. Sure, there are some settlement issue with some of the clay tile out to the street from the house, but nothing that shouldn't work for a long time coming (still original tile from 100 year ago....).

Geno is great. Straight forward and was very clear with me that the liner system works, but definitely has its limitations and if there are any slight ups-and-downs in the line, the liner isn't going to fix the long-term problem (mine has some slight ups and downs and one day I may need to replace it out to the street, but would still need to do that if they installed the liner system as well.

I really felt like they were trying to take advantage of me and the situation and honestly (after learning a lot more from Geno) believe they had little to no idea what they were talking about. So...either they were trying scam me or weren't competent. It was a $150 lesson learned for me and hope others don't fall victim to the same issues with these guys or others....

Very disappointed with Ray at One-Hour Rooter. Due to a sag in my main drain, they weren't able to complete a liner job. But it took one month before they refunded my money. Then they didn't refund the full amount. I've been calling at least weekly for several weeks, and they say they'll take care of it, but they don't. Now they don't return my calls either. Plus they damaged my garage with their truck. Not good to work with them.

Had a clogged mainline with sewer flooding everywhere. Decided to call One Hour Rooter and they stated I need a seamless liner installed. I got it stalled within a few weeks and I my mainline is working like brand new. Everyone from the manager to the office people were super helpful and efficient! Definitely recommend.

I'm just going to echo what has pretty much already been said here on Yelp - I should have checked these damn reviews first.  Expected to pay only $99 as quoted, but surprise surprise the bill was $139 when all said and done b/c they charge $40.00 to drive a mile out of Minneapolis - I would have just picked you up instead for the damn $4.00 of gas that would have cost.  My plumber was all friendly and outgoing until I declined the offer to do a $200 and $550 option, and then he got an attitude.  What a f**king prick.  No more awkward of a feeling than having a total jackass in your most sacred of personal places (referring to your house, not the bathroom or something).  Like, who the f**k are you bro?  Not in my dojo. . I thought this was the company I used last time but clearly I was mistaken.  Crossed off my list forever, making a point to remember the people with the green vans are the ones to avoid.  You can save yourself the time and energy of trying to change my opinion about this company - like the crap in my drain, it's solidified.

Main drain backed up as it dies about every two or three years. They caught me with their $99.00 rate. tech came out ran camera in line and say there was  a dip in the line and it needed to be hydrojeted. Offered me the discounted rate of $1200.00. Paid him his $39.00 travel time and called the company I used several times in the past, out the door for $169.00. I feel there $99.00 rate is nothing less than a bait and switch, that's my opinion. I would let my basement flood to the top of the stairs rather than call these people again.

The first time they came out 3 years ago, they did an excellent job.  They tarped my entire basement, cleaned up after themselves, and very friendly and respectful.

I called them again since they did a great job the last time.  Justin was willing to work a deal with me which was great!  When Ray arrived, he walked into my house with his shoes on.  He went on and on about how I should get my sewer line jetted, telling me that it would cost $1500.  I told him that I just wanted my sewer line cleared out.  He got his things set up and I asked him if was going to tarp the area.  I had to remind him on how to do his job!!!  Then when he tarped, he didn't even cover around the sewer cap!  So crap was getting on my carpet and everything.

Then he goes on about how he moved up to MN because of Match.com and how he wasn't with her anymore.  Very unprofessional!

While he was snaking my sewer line, he kept telling me how bad it was and how it should really get it jetted.  I also noticed that he only used a spear blade and not a cutting blade. I felt like he did not clean my pipes 100%.

In the end he pulled out a bunch of baby wipes so then I decided to cancel the camera appointment I had scheduled for the next day since I knew what the culprit was.  He then said that I would need to pay an extra $79 for his extra time and etc.  He basically was was arguing with me for the next 10 minutes.

I called Justin and explained the situation.  He said that it was fine to cancel the camera.  Ray was interrupting me and calling me a liar.  He did not even clean up the trash bag, left my house rudely, and I was not happy with his attitude at all.

When I tried calling Justin back once Ray had left to explain how disrespected I was, Justin did not even bother to answer his phone.

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, LITTLE CARE FOR THEIR CUSTOMER, JUST TRYING TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK OFF OF SOMEONE WHO IS GOING THROUGH A DISASTER!!!

I would give no stars if yelp allowed it. Do not call this company unless you want to be ripped off. Contacted them to have my mainline cleaned for their advertised price of $138. The day they were supposed to come out for the appointment the manager called me and said that after doing a Google search of my property, my sewer absolutely could not be snaked. My only choices were to either have it Hydro jetted for $1400 or have a sleeve put over the sewer line for $6000. No one ever physically came out to my house and inspected anything. I canceled the appointment and called out another plumber who was able to snake my main line with no issues whatsoever for $149. Stay far away!!!!

SCAMMER ALERT!!!  DO NOT CALL.

So many bad things to say, its hard to know where to begin.  Like many other reviewers, Ray came to look at a slow drain after I called, based on a 'free service call' coupon in Valu Mailer.

He had a tiny little camera and snaked it thru my drain and pipes, showing me all the cracks and 'bad joins' .  Told me  that my pipe to the street was ready to collapse and that I needed  a  hydro flush, a new drain, new connection pipe in basement and a 'liner' and ran my credit card to 'hold a spot'. The next day I received a quote and invoice for $8K. I did have the drain installed and new pvc pipe.  Guy was here for an hour and left a mess.

And: I should have checked Yelp and BBB before calling -but I did the day after Ray ran my card.  I hired an independent plumber who does not sell liners, and have a report and video showing that my line to the street is in great shape/no cracks/ certainly no immediate danger of collapse.  I called Ray to cancel and he refused to do so ($6k service) because the 'paper work' didn't permit this, and there would be a 15% 'restocking fee' based on the full invoice amount.  I put a hold on the charge via VISA and the dispute was eventually settled with me paying $1,600 for what amounted to a $500 service.

I'm not sure why this review lists me in CA as I am in S MPLS near Lake Nokomis.

I called 1 hr rooter to get some help with a clogged bath tub drain. They came with an hour or so.  However, they told me that the plumbing in my house needed to be updated since it has a barrel trap.  They tried to unclogg the drain with their snake but were not successful and they blamed it on the drain trap.  They gave me an estimate of $1,200 to replace the trap with a new pipe! That is no typo, they claimed that they had to cut away the trap and replace it with a new pipe.  I sent them away and called a local plumber who fixed the drain for less than half and was told that drain traps are common in this side of the city.  In summary I got ripped of $140 and they tied to also get me to pay $1,200 for a job that was not necessary.  Stay away from these guys, they overcharge by an order of magnitude. My local plumber said that it was not necessary to replace the piping and even if he did it would only cost $300.

Called to have a floor drain looked at that backed up when washer drained. They sent Ray out to look at it. Said i had 2 options: jet spray the pipe for $500 or replace the drain for $800. Said that the cleaning wouldnt guarantee that the backup wouldnt happen it the future so i had the floor drain replaced. 2 days later we ran the washer and it backed up just as before, no change. They sent the guy out to look at it and said that it needed a backflow vavle because the washer puts out more than the pipe can handle. Cost about $25 and 10 minutes to fix. Wasted $800 to fix a $25 problem. Rip off.

I should have also checked the reviews before having this company come out.  I feel they are a total rip off!  Water was backing up thru the drain and flooding the laundry room. I got sick of it, so I called. The first guy came out & told me I had 3 options...$300 to snake, $500 to snake & hydro flush or 1K+ to replace drain. Chose the $578 option. 2nd guy comes out & just can't get the snake or whatever you call it to go thru. He pulls a shiny piece of cast iron out & tells me the drain is crushed. (I truly believe it came from his pocket!) 3rd guy comes out. Andrew. What a screw up! Totally unprepared to do the work. He need to go buy a fan, buy a jackhammer, buy a drain, etc. It took 20 days to complete the work. Didn't show up when he said he'd be here, and then there was always an excuse! Broke off the pipe that was running from the furnace to the drain & didn't fix it. I still have water running over the laundry room floor! Ended up costing over $3 grand!!  They don't even deserve one star!! Not a happy camper!

Ben came over the same day I called and got right to work. He cleaned out a backed up kitchen drain in less than 30 minutes. He was incredibly friendly (not bad to look at either). And to top it all off he has the cheapest travel charge and the service cost less than 1/2 of what I was quoted by Mr. Rooter. Hopefully I wont need his services again but if I do I will be calling him.

Thanks Ben!

I cannot say this enough - STAY AWAY from One Hour Rooter.

My main line backed up into my basement at the end of May. I contacted One Hour Rooter and they said they would have a plumber out between 4 PM and 6 PM to deal with it. The plumber did not arrive at my house until 8:30, and my girlfriend - who left work early to accommodate - had to call him twice for an update on arrival time.

The plumber was nice enough, but he said that we needed to hydrojet our main line, run a camera and do a gel treatment for our main line backup. The cost of the treatment, not including the trip for the estimate and trip charge, would be over $1,500.  I was pressured to set an immediate appointment for the next day and he told me to leave my keys in a hiding spot so he could come treat the main line while I was at work - unsupervised.

I postponed the appointment for the next day and he charged me almost $300 for the visit. I got a second opinion from another plumber who snaked the main line, ran a camera and left us an enzyme treatment for under $500 - all in the same visit. This plumber showed up on time, thanked us for calling him for service, and had the work done in less than an hour.

I reached out to one hour rooter to voice my displeasure at how the plumber jumped to the most expensive treatment possible immediately and pressured us into setting an appointment and I was promised a $198.00 refund. It has been over a month and a half since I was promised a refund and I still haven't seen a single penny.

Do not, under any circumstances, use One Hour Rooter..

I typically read reviews before I call a company but the gal on the phone was very nice and the other plumber wanted a $80 trip charge just to give me an estimate.  What a $250 mistake!!!!

The three poor reviews are 100% correct!!  The same thing happened to me.  They are hucksters and won't be truthful.  There prices are why too high!!  His first quote for all the supposed wrong things was $500 to $1500 more than what I paid, because I kept refusing.  I just wanted my drain auggered and if I didn't put the green chemicals down my drain I wouldn't get a guarantee on the work.

DONT USE THEM

In my experience with this company, One Hour Rooter was extremely unprofessional and did not take ownership of their own services. They came to snake out my laundry floor drain, and charged me over $100. A few days later, it was clear that the drain was draining even more slowly and was now beginning to back up and overflow. When I called to report this, they said there was nothing they could do because I failed to purchase a warranty for an additional fee. I needed to pay extra for them to do their job? I don't think so. So, I basically ended up paying One Hour Rooter over $100 to make my laundry floor drain worse.

This is not a company you want to come out to fix your drain, etc. - any company that does not stand behind their services is not a company that you want to be hiring.

Website says they'll clean a drain for $99... guy comes out and says it's $150 just for him stopping by to tell us we need to pay $1500 to have the pipe high pressured jetted because of tree roots. Last time it cost us $79 to have our drain snaked by another company and it has been fine for 2 years. He didn't fix anything and he wants us to pay $150. No thanks.

I had roots in my main sewer line, and even though the line was still flowing I thought it a good idea to get it cleaned out. I called one-hour rooter and in a few hours the first of the charlatans showed up. He brought in the electric snake device and spent a whopping 5 minutes (possibly less) on the drain before telling me it was way too serious, that he could get his line caught and that we'd be spending a lot more money if he did. He said we needed the camera brought in. Ok, so about four hours later the second charlatan shows up and runs a camera six feet into the line and shows me a growth of roots that were 'impossible to get through'. Then he proceeded to tell me how I needed to spend over $4500 to dig up my front yard and repair the line manually. This is a lot of money; I needed a second opinion. I called another plumber and had him come the next day. less than an hour later he had cleaned the line, charged me $120 dollars and said I should do this as an annual or at least biennial maintenance just to be safe. As for his opinion about digging up my yard and spending $4500? A real plumber with real experience said, 'I don't know how some people sleep at night. Some of these companies pay their employees on commission and they are motivated to ramp up the bill anyway they can.'
My friendly advice to all consumers...Stay away from One Hour Rooter...they got my $250, at least they didn't get more and hopefully they won't get your hard earned money.
