Called them a few weeks ago as the AC was leaking in a unit I rent out in Southie. These guys are fantastic! Prompt, courteous, honest guys. They quickly fixed the cause of the issue and advised on future prevention. Will definitely use them again if anything ever comes up! Oh and to add to awesomeness, they even respond to text messages.

I was concerned about my gas heater and Quarry Hills came out the same day I called. Tim serviced my heater and gave me peace of mind that our system was ok. Great service all around. I would highly recommend them.

Updated to take them down to 1 star after the response to my previous review from Quarry Hills owner Bill Duggan that was unprofessional, even ruder than I thought possible, and simply way out of line. I'll let his response to my review, and the 2 other 1 star reviews, speak for itself. Let me summarize my situation in my best robot voice (thanks Bill):
The Quarry Hills techs took my money and left me with an A/C that was still short-cycling on and off every couple of minutes. They read the instruction manual that I found for them and said they would need to order an obscure part for my obscure system and come back to install it.
A week or two of no air conditioning later, I call and have the pleasure of speaking with Bill, who berates the equipment in my house and goes off on a rant that I can now see is his usual response to anyone who disagrees with him. He can't get the part. I can't get cold air. We exchange some (un)pleasantries and he finally quotes me $500 to install a generic part.
I called Frigidaire's tech support people and got the right part number. I then bought it myself for $50 from an A/C supply warehouse. When the weather changes and I need it again, I will have someone else install it.
It comes down to this: either do the work and guarantee it, or tell me that you can't and leave. But when I call you out on leaving me with an unresolved problem, don't tell me it's my fault and yell at me. And as for my A/C unit and the compressor being strange parts that nobody on the east coast carries? I don't care. I didn't buy them, and I didn't build the house. They're all just part of the joy of homeownership.
Oh, and a giant pool of water is collecting under my air handler unit again, a problem that I have now paid Bill's people to fix twice. So much for them doing anything right.
Bill, it's never your fault, is it?

First of all, I love that you can request service online and don't have to call during business hours (who has time for that?). And you can communicate through text messages - also a plus for busy people.
I was having an intermittent problem with my heater. These are the worst! It's always my luck that someone shows up to fix a problem and it suddenly kicks into action an hour before they arrive. Of course, this was the case when the Quarry Hills guys showed up. But, they showed me how to read the diagnostics the next time the problem happens.
Then they fixed my leaky kitchen sink, replaced a toilet part that wasn't working right, and uncovered a heating vent that the original contractors had forgotten to cut out of my kitchen peninsula and installed a vent grill.
Just as they were leaving, they noticed the heater was acting up. Perfect! They went down and fixed that too!
Super nice guys.
Terrible service. $250 show up charge after being 2 hours late. Without asking, put in a refrigerant and charged another $200. (Temporary fix - 10 days)
30 min passed the follow up appointment time, I texted to inquire whereabouts, they didn't know who it was, said service that day was impossible, that they would check their calendar later in the day to set another appointment. Never followed back up.
New appointment now set with another provider for a $30 show up fee.
Single digit wind chill during a long weekend froze a section of our plumbing. Upon defrosting, a section of the pipe started to leak. Come monday, we called every plumber around a 10 mile radius from us and most of them told us that they were fully booked with other frozen pipe issues during the weekend and only had availability Wednesday onwards. David from Quarry Hills gave me a text and said they had availability at 3 PM for the guys to come take a look. The guys (Eric & Ryan) came way earlier than expected at noon (1.5 hours after I made the call) to take a look at my leak.
I thought Eric and Ryan was just going to replace the pipe fittings that was leaking, but they went above and beyond to replace the entire copper pipe from first floor to basement with PEX. They also gave recommendations on what to do with the space to insulate it so that they wouldn't need to come again (at the detriment of their business). This was all done at the price they quoted me which I thought was incredibly reasonable.
I'd give them a look for your plumbing emergencies.
As an out of state landlord it is always the dreaded call from the tenants when they call at 9:00pm telling me the heat isn't working. I call Quarry Hills and talked to them about the various work that may be needed to get the boiler back up and running.
They performed the work and called me upon completion to let me know it was just a pilot light...the cheapest option discussed. They could have taken advantage of me and made some extra money but they were honest and got the heat back up and running.
I would use them again and would refer them to a friend.
My central ac was long over due for maintenance , and had started to make some noise which concerned me. Since I live in South Boston I called the closest ac company which went strait to the answering machine and announced that if you weren't already a customer then they would not return your phone call. The first call was to a South Boston Company, and then several Dorchester companies, all to busy to answer the phone, and obviously not looking for new customers. I finally called Quarry hills and actually had someone answer the phone and set an appoint for the next day. I was giving a window appointment (4-6) and expected to be waiting all day. however after calling to confirm my appointment (and having the phone answered again) Tim c showed up right on time. I was surprised to find out that all my unit needed was a good cleaning. Tim was knowledgeable about my system and answered all my questions about scheduled maintenance, with an emphasis on changing the filters regularly. Although I had changed the filter regularly, I had overlooked one; which Tim pointed out and explained the correct way to install both.

Did not know how to fix my furnace. Pretended like he did. Blamed the previous owner of my house for telling him how to install a system that does not work. I have spent thousands of dollars paying him to fix a system that never worked properly and am still in the same position I was before he started. I picked up parts he ordered for me they cost just over 14 dollars. shortly after I got a bill for 50. Stay away.

Prompt service on my South End condo's central air conditioning. Price was reasonable. Tim who serviced the unit was timely, pleasant and highly competent.
I had them here today to fix my HVAC system and couldn't be happier - all the reviews are true! I have a system that is only 3-4 yrs old and has had a leak from day one. I have gone through at least 6 other HVAC companies and spent over $1200 on estimates, tests and refills, including ones recommended on this site, and no one has been able to find the exact source of the leak which turned out to be something pretty common. All my estimates were for not only the wrong fix it turns out but also outrageously over-priced. Tim is their HVAC guy and he is really knowledgeable, thorough and patient and shows you everything he is working on step by step. I called after hours Friday and they were here today. He diagnosed and fixed this morning and the bill was a fraction of what the other companies were going to charge (for work I didn't even need!). He even fixed a few other things on the heater part like the noise and drainage issues no one else bothered to fix. I've already recommended them to everyone in my condo building. Don't waste your time and money calling anyone else!

Reliable, professional experts - Bill went out of his way to help me while he was on his vacation during the 4th of July weekend for an AC issue and recently performed a repair to the heating ducts.
My home setup was unfortunately done poorly by the original builder - Bill took the time to explain the issue, literally showed me the faulty part, and then performed the service promptly. I called him and he was there in less than 24 hours, working around my schedule and sending me texts around ETA which was super helpful.
I took a chance on Quarry Hills and could not be more thrilled to have them on speed dial in case of a future need or in case a friend needs a recommendation. If you want the job done right, in the most cost effective and thorough manner, give Bill a call.
I cannot even express how pleased I am with this company! Not only were they quick to respond and showed up the very next day but they were honest and great people. My air conditioner broke and unfortunetly it broke during one of the hottest weeks of the summer, I had another company come out and quoted me $3300 to completly replace my central ac unit. I thought the price was a bit too high so I decided to call Quarry Hills for a second opinion. I read their reviews on yelp, and now I understand why they are so great! They came out (Time and another guy whos name I never got) and told me that I did not have to replace the whole unit and they fixed everything for around $800. That is a huge price difference for me and now I am happy to say I am typing this review in a cool air conditioned room. :)
Bill Duggan and crew saved our new home's butt this winter- installing a new system for our downstairs and keeping our upstairs chugging along. From a burst pipe in the basement to leaky relief valves and burners that wouldn't fire- Quarry Hills took my often frantic calls in stride, gave us winning advice during emergencies, and kept our now boiler install going during the worst winter in Boston history.
Can't recommend these guys enough. Although I'm sure they don't need more work.
Background: My AC unit wasn't pumping out cold air, only blowing room temp air.
Response time - Excellent. They were at my place less than 90 minutes after calling
Work performed - Excellent. Diagnosed the issue almost immediately and replaced the capacitor in less than 15 minutes total
Cost - Mediocre. Charged $100 for the part which was fine but $245 for the service call. To me, that's just too much, especially since this wasn't specified ahead of time. Only after the work was performed so what option did I have?
Overall - Solid. They got the job done, fast. Just wish the price of the service call was more transparent.

Following up on my previous review, I spoke with Bill the manager, he came back and explained how the bill was calculated. He was very apologetic on the how things were handled with the billing and has sent a refund. It was GREAT to see there are some good business people out there that actually care about the customer. Going forward I will continue to use Quarry Hills for all my a/c work. Do not hesitate to call them for your plumbing & hvac issues!!

These guys are fantastic! When our condo association decided to install high efficiency furnaces, we got quotes from several different contractors, but few even responded to our emails with questions on the products/process. Quarry Hills came out to our condo association meeting with 2 of their guys, as well as a rep from the furnace manufacturer and spent an hour and a half explaining everything & answering all our questions. That alone was pretty impressive.
The installation went great ... we even had another contractor who was installing new basement window ooh & ahh over their work! I've called them twice since the installation when we lost heat ... the first time the came right out, and showed me that it was the circuit breaker ... something I could have fixed myself, if I had bothered to go down & look. Not only did were they gracious about their time, but re-did the circuit so it would not be a problem in the future.
The 2nd time I called, they came out at then end of a long day & resolved the problem. Bill even called me the next day just to check in & make sure everything was still running smoothly.
We've done a lot of home improvements in the last year, and dealt with many different contractors ... it is refreshing to deal with a company who answers your calls & questions & gets the work done. These guys are very professional & go above & beyond your typical contractor.
Extremely gruff on the phone and in person but they were the only ones who responded and actually came to my home when the heat went out. I probably called 15 different companies and got no answer or no call back or no show, but Quarry Hills actually followed up with me and fixed our heat when no one else would. They'll be my first call next time.

So I'd really give them 4.5 stars because they ran a half-hour to hour late for the appt... but otherwise the service was great! The technician helped explain to me what the problem was with my AC and what the costs were to fix it. He answered all my questions and was able to quickly find the problem and replace the part.
This is not a service I would call for routine maintenance because of their $225 fee, but if you have an AC unit that is broken and need someone quickly, they really try to squeeze as many appts as they can in a day. Overall happy and glad to be cool in my condo again!
Quarry Hills was exceptional. If you've dealt with heating and air personnel before you know they're very busy all year. These helpful people gave their attention and time to our needs for a hot water heater and were fast and courteous. Thank you Quarry Hills Team. Highly recommend !!
If I could give this business less than one star I would. I have had numerous problems with my ac unit over the last year. They installed it and have been the only ones to come here and fix it. They came out multiple times, each time screwing something else up in the process, claiming it wasn't their fault. Getting them to even come out and fix the problem was a HUGE process, seeing as they ignored phone calls several times, said they were coming out and never showed up, etc. The most recent time trying to contact them about another mistake THEY made, the owner over the phone started yelling and was being very rude and disrespectful. Along with another time, it leaked through my ceiling causing water damage, and they were mad they had to come back to fix it. They have extremely poor customer service along with unqualified, ignorant employees. The owner wasn't much better to deal with either. I highly suggest using another business unless you want to deal with 8+ months of issues.
Wow these guys are good! Less than 24 hours after I called needing some minor service on my HVAC condenser, they've got it fixed, and at a reasonable cost as well. Super responsive, extremely friendly. They also quickly identified the source of the problem (where others had failed to recently) and offered to provide a repair estimate, but told me to check with the installer first because I might get a better deal. Are you kidding me? They show up and do excellent work and then, when they've got me right there with my wallet open ready to pay for additional work at whatever the cost, and they say hang on, check your other options just to be sure. Not a quality you find in the Hub too often. From now on, Quarry Hills is the FIRST company I call with any central air needs.
I had an emergency situation. My washer machine and ground floor bathroom started flooding. I called Quarry Hills Plumbing at 8pm and they told me they would get someone out to me at 10 am the next day. The next morning, I was given a call by the office and they confirmed the time they would be stopping by. True to their word, a worker arrived when they said they would and was able to fix the pipes. I really appreciate all their good work and that they had such good customer service. In addition, they gave me a 90 day warranty. I will definitely use them again.

Oil to gas furnace and hot water conversion. Work included all removal of old oil equipement, gas connections and installtion of new gas based hvac system. New system included duct work, gas piping, furnace, A/C and all related items. Installation went great. Bill performed all work on time and took care of any question or requests I had. He helped me with all rebate paperwork to get nice return on energy efficient equipement.

Maybe business is good. But they played the stall game with me with an email a week for more information for several weeks, until I never heard from them again. When you don't even have common courtesy customer service, this does not say much going forward. Avoid.
