Called and asked a simple question: How much do you charge to disconnect gas dryer? (since landlord tells me MA law requires licensed plumber or gas fitter to disconnect)

Answer: We don't do prices over the phone.

summary: pretty much any educated person can disconnect... but the law is the law... and these guys know how to take advantage of the law.

These guys are great, they installed a stove (electric to gas conversion) and also repaired a leaky sink for us in the last six months). Pretty quick over the phone, answered all my questions. Definitely will call them for more plumbing odds and ends.

A great group of technicians.

James helped me, gave me honest opinions on what to fix and NOT to fix. I felt like his expertise was well-warranted and the visit was in my best interest.

This guy is an artist with the copper pipes. He can turn a giant mess of pipes into what looks like very organized paths on a circuit board. My wife and I bought an old house out in Medfield and knew of Craig from years back (he was studying to be a graphic designer back then) and thought we'd give him a try. He proved to be extremely knowledgable and very helpful with putting our minds at ease about our newly acquired antique colonial. We had some concerns about Carbon monoxide leaks and a poorly laid out bathroom, but he put our concerns to rest and gave us plenty of options to fix up our bathroom. Never bothered to try and sell us anything at all. That never happens, he's a rare one, so rest assured that he and his employees will take great care of you.

I'd ignore the one star rating since their review doesn't make any sense at all (Not providing quotes over the phone? Does anyone do that!?) especially when Craig clearly states that he'll drive (or have one of his workers drive) to your home or business for FREE to give you a FREE quote on site no matter what the problem... so what's with the bad review?

Sounds to me like TW just had a bad day and took it out on a small business owner... That's pretty low in my book. How did Craig take advantage of the law again? By offering a free on site quote? It's just a bizarre complaint.

Honestly, if you do give Forsythe Plumbing a try, you'll be very glad you did! You'll never bother with another plumbing service again.

My husband and I recently bought a house and needed a gas dryer and vent installed. We called Craig in the morning and he was able to start about an hour later! He reviewed the dryer manual and building code and figured out a way to safely vent our dryer across the basement without moving electrical or making it a more complicated job than it needed to be. A few hours later our dryer was up and running!

Look no further for your plumbing needs!

Seriously, the service provided and professionalism conveyed was more than I anticipated. I had a bathroom tub that was not draining for the past 2 days, and I requested same day service. Not only did they come out within an hour's notice (I reached out to a number of other places before this), they also resolved the issue quickly and helped me to understand the issue in detail.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with Forsythe's services and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Truth is, you pay for what you get.

I've done many home renovations, and home builds in the past, and I always seemed to have to chase the plumber to get the work done on time and on budget.

NOT the case with the guys at Forsythe Plumbing and Heating. The owner came out to my site within 12 hours of my call for an estimate. They showed up on time, and finished on time. I had to a pay a little bit more than other quotes, but in the long run, it saved me time and money.

I have had multiple other good dealings with the company since, and reccomend them to every other contractor and or home owner I know.

Very happy with my service from Forsythe Plumbing and Heating.  Recurring clogged drain -- finally stopped with the Drano and looked for a plumber.  I had unknowingly received a postcard ad from Forsythe years ago, so upon finding it, I called.  Within 24 hours my problem was resolved -- AND he took my $25 off coupon which was expired (included with the postcard sent years ago).  He was courteous, knowledgeable, professional.  Fair pricing.  Happy to spread the word and use him again as needed.

Our 30 year old boiler finally gave out in the middle of the night late November.  I called several plumbing companies to come take a look and give estimates.  Craig Forsythe was one of the first to get back to us and come take a look at it.  I choose Forsythe plumbing for several reasons, their prices were competitive, they could start that day, and they seemed very friendly and competent.  They started that day removing the old boiler and installed the new boiler the next day.  Jaimie and William were the main technicians and were very friendly.  Jaimie explained everything he was doing, and patiently went over all the parts of the boiler we may need to know about before he left.  We had one small problem the following day and Craig came right out to fix it.   I would definitely recommend them.

Needing a new plumber in the Newton area, I was very impressed with the time Craig Forsythe took in not only diagnosing the heating issue at my house, but also taking the time to explain things through and offering alternatives and suggestions to resolve the problem and help save money. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic experience! I had a bathroom faucet that required replacing and Craig was able to do so in the same day I called. He was knowledgable but approachable. He discussed every aspect of the install. When we hit a few hiccups in sizing and fitting he explained my options and allowed me to come to the best decision. He was very fair in his pricing and couldn't have been more upfront. I got exactly what I expected.

His professionalism has not only given me the confidence to use his services again but more importantly to tell everyone else in the Waltham, Belmont, Watertown and Newton area!

call them and they called me back right away asking how can they help. my heat was working then all of sudden it stop working. i call Forsythe and i told them i really would like it fix today and i will be home til 2pm. They said they will call me back and let me know they will be coming at noon. They were right on time and repair guy James was very friendly and helpful. He told me what he thought was the problem and the cost to fix it . In about an hour it was fixed and i had heat again. I have no idea what a fair price would be but i needed it fix and agree to the price he quoted me.I wish it could have been cheaper but i wish everything i buy could be cheaper.

Out of all the people I saw and messaged on yelp, Craig was by far the best and fastest in responding to my message.  He was pleasant both on the phone and when I first saw him on Thursday when he came to install my water heater.  He was willing to come the same day I called him but I was not home.

When he got to my house on Thursday he looked at my water heater and gave me quote to install it.  He noticed that the valve to the water heater was old he did not want to use it; just in case it burst.  He walked through my house to find the water shut off but we couldn't find it (we now believe it is in the basement ceiling).  He then told me to call dispatch and he was extremely patient and waited until the city dispatch came to my house to turn the water off from the street (waited for an hour). Through the entire process he informed what he was doing and why he was doing it.  It gave me assurance that the man knew that he was doing (it helped that I knew some of the things he was talking about).  Since my house was old, he realized that I needed a ground wire installed, instead of waiting and coming back another day, he called his electrician who quoted me a price to get everything done.  

He was there for 5 hours and the price he originally quoted me stayed the same, even though he did some additional things and spent more time than he had probably anticipated.  He was great and he is first person I will call if I need additional plumbing to be done at my house.

Of course, our heating system didn't work when we tried to use it for the first time this fall. Luckily, the weather was still warm enough that we didn't need emergency weekend service.  Still, I called around on a Friday (or Saturday) night to see if someone could take a look.  After our regular plumber said he doesnt drive out to our area anymore and booked solid for a month, Craig responded early the next morning.  After explaining what could be the problem (broken thermocouple), he gave us a few suggestions and offered to come over in a few hours.  Knowing that our heating issue might cost us a pretty penny, we opted to wait until Tuesday and not pay the emergency weekend fee.  Craig was not pushy at all and he explained his costs upfront, including a boiler tuneup (which we needed since we are hoping to sell our condo).  Craig was prompt (even early), for the appointment and found several issues.  He replaced the necessary parts and cleaned out our apparently sludge filled system within a few hours.  He got our heating to work again and all for reasonable cost!  Amazing!  He gave us a detailed report on the work he did, which is appreciated.  Almost 2 months has passed and no issues.  Craig will be our go-to plumber and heating guy now, and our dog loved him too!

Had a big problem with a leaking valve.  Had no hot water.  Forsythe guys came and replaced the valve and one other. They were very courteous, quick and very fairly priced.  Overall a terrific job and I would recommend them highly!

May have been good in the past.  As of this writing in March 2017, did not even have the courtesy to return a phone call.  Must be too busy to need more customers.

This is the company that made me finally sign up for Yelp after 5 years using the site...that's how good the service is.

Came home last night to lukewarm water - called late at night and my call was returned first thing in the a.m. and Craig was here by 11. Over the phone he braced me for a replacement of the water heater, but when he came in he found it was a more rare but easier to fix problem with my pilot light grounding out...charged me a more than fair price and left the entire area clean as a whistle.

This is the second time I've used Forsythe, and now they're on my speed dial.  Highest recommendation.

This guy saved my butt today.  I had a spraying spigot situation that I suddenly became aware of just one day before a new washer was scheduled to be delivered, so I really had to have this fixed.  He was one of the few who actually answered his phone and was able to rush over before I had to run out to go get my kid from school.  His work was good, his advice was accurate and his price, well he is a plumber and they are not cheap if they know what they are doing.  I will say though, that I believe he took into account my budget and charged me for only one hour when I think he actually did spend more time here.  I got the sense he is honest and reliable, and the service was much appreciated.

These guys were great. I needed my water heater replaced. I was going away on a trip two days later. They were there in a couple of hours. They did a great job and the guys were great. I would recommend to anybody.

Craig was fantastic helping us diagnose the problem that caused flooding in the basement. He was very professional and knowledgable!

My hot water heater was leaking and I called Craig and he said he could be at my place ASAP. I was on my way home from work so I told him 25 minutes. He was waiting for me when I got home and rushed an order in for a new hot water heater before they closed.  Craig knew right away that the vent above the heater was not up to code so he also fixed that for me. He did all of this in just a few hours and also cleaned up the mess in the basement my leaking hot water heater had caused.

I would definitely use Craig again!  I've already recommended him and to someone in my building.

Had a clogged disposal on a Friday before a holiday weekend. The company called me back and was able to send out someone to take a look that day. Initially I was skeptical about the price to fix it, but taking a look online it was comparable to other companies; plumbing is a lucrative business I suppose. They tell you the cost beofre doing any work so there are no surprises. James (the person sent out by the company) was friendly, courteous, and did a great job. Would definitely use again.
