Had issue with our HVAC and the Horizon guy came out to check it out while my wife was here alone.  After checking things out, he recommended replacing the motor for a discounted price of $1500.

My wife called me and I told her to decline as the AC started working again.  He tried to scare her with gloom and doom, and tried to pressure her in sale.

I had DM3 Heating and Cooling come out and all we needed were the coils cleaned...$200.

Just be careful with these guys trying to take advantage of you. Get a second opinion before doing ANYTHING with these guys.

The tech sold ma policy that I already had. He said to use it for the following year. Lilly, the customer service supervisor,  goes to my voice mail without my phone ringing. She is never available when I call back.

I placed a call on Saturday to Horizon for a leaking hot water tank.  I was told someone would be at my home by 11:30 to give me an estimate.  At 11:30 Quintin  was knocking at the door. He put his shoe booties on and assessed the leaking tank. I called several others with quotes but Horizon was the only one to come over to see what was leaking before quoting a price. Their price was better than all 3 others and beating the  Le* the plumberguys by nearly $800.  I also had a special hot water tank not only is it LP gas but also has a blower to force air out to the exhaust. He called the office, its a Sunday, while Quintin was removing the old tank a delivery driver was on his way with my style tank.The professional approach and installation was very good. Quintin insisted I inspect his work and said if I find anything that I didn't like he would correct it.A company is only as good as their service and Quintin is top notch and shows his passion for his work. He also commented that Horizon was the best company he ever worked at, and it showed.

I want to update my review regarding my prior issues. I was contacted by the supervisor who did refund the money that was put out for the service they provided. She asked if I wanted to get a quote for my dryer and let them know what it would cost for it yo he repaired, however I'm just grateful that I got my money back that was initially put out. I do think instead of asking a consumer to get a quote after the mess I was caused maybe do a rough estimate and just add ti the refund. All in all I'm just grateful again that someone who was professional called me back and tried to make this right.

What a rip off. Our upstairs AC unit broke and Horizon Services came out to give us a diagnosis and potential repair. They valued an evaporator coil replacement and install at $6,300 in addition to the $114 fee to have them come to our home. Comparable repairs online showed the fee to be no more than $3500. We ended up going with another HVAC company and had the entire air handler replaced the next day for $4000 instead rather than an overpriced coil for $6300+ with greedy Horizon Services.

When we asked about the huge differential in price to other companies and their estimates, we were told by the repairman that Horizon is the Lexus of repair companies and with that comes a higher price.

We will never be working with Horizon again and advise others to go somewhere else with your business!

Called for ac service and was told we had a freon leak. We asked for an estimate on replacing the system. The quote was written up with a cost, then a 10% discount, then another 10% discount. This price manipulation makes a customer think he's getting 20% off. He isnt. The 2nd 10% is off the LOWER number, after taking the first 10%
So, 20% of a $10k cost is $2000, right? The way this company does their math, your discount ends up being $1900 - which is not 20% as they'd like you to think. This pricing tactic is deceptive and dishonest.

We had a tricky plumbing issue. The first plumber did make a repair, but it didn't resolve the problem-not his fault. He fixed what he thought the issue was. The second plumber was a complete waste of time, and he did nothing. He also said some pretty negative things about his own company. After calling for three days trying to get ahold of a manager, I finally got lucky and received great service from the plumbing manager of the Maryland office (Clifford) and the plumber he sent (Mike). They both went above and beyond for us. I can't express how appreciative we were for the great service we received from both of them. Clifford listened to every one of my complaints and dealt with them, even when I am sure he was tired of hearing from me. Mike was relentless in his pursuit to fix our issue. He explained everything he was doing and why. Honestly, if it weren't for the two of them, we would no longer be Horizon customers. They are the only reason there are any stars in the rating at all.

The customer service--especially those considered managers or supervisors in that department--is horrendous. They have no issues not returning calls, sending you from one office to another (only to either be left on hold for 20 minutes or completely ignored) or just hanging up on you (they did claim to have phone issues). A handful of customer service reps were polite and friendly, but when it comes to anything out of the ordinary, forget it. The management of the call center needs to be addressed because honestly, customer service isn't really their strength. Luckily, they have some great employees doing the actual service. I would definitely use the in home service for the technicians, but don't have high expectations for the customer service portion. If you do, you will be frustrated and disappointed.

From hearing the praises on various radio stations, I thought I was going to get great service. The short answer is, the salesperson and field people speak  two different languages. Also, a lot of detail was left out, wrong, misrepresented, or average. The project was supposed to be a day and a half. It was two long days (last day was 8pm). The first day was a 2 man crew (I was told 3-4). The second day was a 3-4 man crew. The crew undid work the first day crew completed. There we steps left out. The second day crew should have been the first day crew. The rating would have been higher. Permits, I was told Horizon would handle. After the work was complete, I'm told I have to schedule and be present for the inspections. I would think they would have the inspectors on site while here-no. The notification gave me the choice to call or email Horizon to schedule the inspections. Out of convenience, I chose email. The email told me to call them-doesn't make sense. Don't have the email option then. And, the there was a failed inspection. Customer service has been responsive and nice. They were willing to give me $175 for my troubles. I haven't seen that money or they didn't explain how long it would be until I receive it (or don't offer). I scheduled to have the failed work corrected a few days ago. This morning, I was called by Horizon to have the work scheduled. I explained I already scheduled the work. Then, I get a call back to see if I could reschedule. At this point, no. For the amount I spent, this was not what I expected. And it's not over.

Horizon came on time. The technician was pleasant. The technician was also very honest told me what my problem was, and told me the cost even gave me some tips how to save on my heating and air-conditioning costs. I will call them again and recommend them to all of my friends. Thank you Horizon.

After receiving the response and a phone call from the contact individual below, I contacted them. The person's mailbox was filled and there was no other opportunity for contact. I stand by my initial review.

DO NOT CONTACT THEM, PLEASE?!!! When I responded to a Horizon ad for complimentary service, I was very pleased. The price was lower than BGE Home and the turn-around was really fast. After the inspection, they recommended I purchased a $20,000.00 unit but instead purchased American Home Shield.

Once I finally inspected their work - seven months later - I discovered they had sabotaged my units and set me up for for a massive failure! The technician DID NOT insert a filter in my unit!!! I'm now dealing with a flood in my basement and a clog in my inside filter area. Avoid all contact!!!! The clog was due to the Horizon technician's work. No wonder he spent such a long time in my basement.

Overall very unhappy with the service.  If you need 410 Freon look elsewhere.  They have a flat rate, under 3 pounds is $300 something and over 3 pounds is $725.  I needed 3 pounds 12 ounces.  So i was charged about $400 for 12 ounces of Freon. Then I was convinced to sign up for a plan so it saved 15% on the Freon but the plan was $100 bucks so I ended up spending $750 for 3 pounds 12 oz of Freon.  Asked around and for roughly 4 pounds the rate should be about $225 to $275.  I feel robbed and upset about it.

My furnace stopped working on a cold, November, Friday evening. After I contacted Horizon, their technician arrived early Saturday morning, quickly diagnosed the problem, and explained my options. Since my furnace was 20 years old, I opted for a new system. The tech was able to get the furnace working for the short term. The sales person came Sunday morning, and provided a thorough explanation of available systems.  The installation team came early Monday morning, with the new system completely in and immaculate clean up provided by noon. Every person I dealt with from Horizon was extremely professional with excellent communication skills. I highly recommend Horizon for any HVAC needs.

Had a AC installed earlier this year. Installed next day. This is where they get you.  Have been having issues since the install. Service tech are scheduled days after you call. Haven't been able to fix the unit in almost 8 months. Their managers will give you a story that they are going to make it right. No follow up and will won't honor their guarantee. Their online chat and online scheduling never get a call back need to call for everything.  Will never use this company again for any services all talk no service.

Our Central Air unit stopped blowing cool air so we setup an appointment with horizon via online. A tech came the next day and proceeded to do a shady diagnostic on my central air unit. Afterwards he claims our compressor had gone bad and said the fix would be 4000$!!! WTH my wife said under her mask and explained that since the unit was under warranty there's no way that price is legal. He said that's because of the labor! My wife asked how much they charge an hour and the tech proceeds to make up numbers. After my wife lets him out the door he sits in his truck for 10 mins then comes back and says his boss allowed him to lower the price to 2900. Haha! My wife says goodbye and tells him to be on his way. Afterwards we call my mom in law who know someone who owns his own hvac company. He stops by a few hours later does a legit round of test and says the whole unit is working fine all you need is a new capacitor. Charges us 200$ and everything is working fine. Sets up our new nest thermostat too free of charge. So the sum up everything, horizon services tried to charge us 4000$ for a 200$ job. When we declined they still charged us 89$ for a bogus diagnostic which was a dam lie! Nobody should use this company EVER because they are shady they lie they price gouge and do very dishonest practices to maximize their profits. They will be reported to the BBB and probably the local news until someone is held accountable for this nonsense. Please avoid this company at all cost.

Consumer beware! Do not use Horizon Services for your plumbing or HVAC. I have been nickeled and dimed by them.

First they installed a new furnace, which seemed great but then come to find out the AC condensation line was not installed properly. I only found this out 5 months after the fact, when the AC was being used. Horizon came out to install a a new pump but I had to pay for it?? It was their installation error in the first place. Talked them down to $500 from $700, only to find out this part is $35. And it took about an hour for the service to be completed. I was not provided with an itemized invoice, but know it should not have been this expensive.

Then about a month later, I needed a drain cleaning so I called Horizon. They were unable to clear the clog after having them out twice, but again, I was still charged for the service that they could not provide? The technician that came out did not have the tools he needed to even get the job done. I had to ask a neighbor to borrow the tool. And all they wanted from me was to have them replace my pipes, to turn a $150 job into a $2k job. From past history with this company, we said no to pipes being replaced and to just clear the clog. But the technician's boss would not allow him to do that so he left without clearing the clog. So, after three days of not having working plumbing (Four days of ongoing issues where I couldn't even stay in my own home), I had another plumber come out in hopes of clearing the clog. He was able to do what two Horizon technicians could not do in a matter of minutes, stating if they had just tried a little harder they would have fixed it. Horizon charged me for a service they couldn't even provide. And left me with an improperly sealed toiled after not putting it back correctly.

Overall, do not use Horizon unless you want services to be done poorly, to be overcharged, and have to call them out to complete more of the same work.

This was our first time using Horizon, on a Sunday with our AC down and humidity returning.  We were hopeful it wasn't an expensive visit, and our tech Danny was professional, knowledgeable, and fair.  Arrived early in the morning, repair completed in an hour!  And explained thoroughly.  We used another local service prior to this, but they were closed on Sunday! Who does that in a service business?  Thanks, Horizon and Danny for putting a smile back on our face, and knowing we made the right decision calling you (and will become regular customers from now on!).

We hired Horizon to install a new sink!  The plumber was great. It took him longer then expected but we were glad we were quoted by the job and not by the hour.  The workmanship was excellent. He was clean and neat and made sure all the mess was gone before he left!  I will definitely use this service again and highly recommend them.

After calling BGE and being told that their first appointment was Oct 6, I then calling Roto Rooter and being told that it would cost $750 to clear my clogged kitchen sink drain, I called Horizon at 9:30 PM and they scheduled their technician for $149 for the next day. The tech, Jada Patterson, arrived on time, in uniform, worked for almost 2 hours but was unable to clear the drain due to tree roots blocking the drain pipe. He said that since he was unable to clear the drain, there would be no charge. I was very impressed with my total experience with Jada and the office personnel. I will gladly use them as well as highly recommending their services

I contacted Horizon for an A/C tuneup.  They responded very quickly.  Once my information was taken, I was transferred to another staff member to schedule an appointment.  Once the employee discovered that I live in the part of the zip code that is in Baltimore City and not Baltimore County,  she told me that she could not schedule me.

She was not rude but stated they don't do work in the city.  She was not able to provide a readon why.

Horizon Services is our plumbing, heating, and a/c service of choice. They helped us when there was a blockage from our kitchen sink beyond our utility sink in our basement. H.S. had serviced our old heathing and a/c unit faithfully for years, providing suggestions to help extend its lifespan. When it came time to replace our old heating & a/c units, H.S. was the only company that we called. They listened to our wants and needs in the new unit, laid out a variety of units and cost and helped us to choose the one that best met our needs.

H.S. goes out of their way to explain the process, regardless of the size of the job. Plus, they contact you when it is time to have your a/c & heating service. H.S. has wonderful staff regardless of the time that you call. We had a issue occur  at 1 a.m., so we called H.S. to have a technician come out. The employee answered the phone Its a great day at Horizon Services. How can I help you? It was 1 a.m. and he was so friendly and understanding.

This company knows how to listen to customers. It appears to me that they believe in the 80/20 rule. Listen 80% and talk 20%. We will be their customers for life. We have recommended H.S. to our family and friends.

We hired Horizon for a low water pressure issue in our Owings Mills Home.   The plumber (Quintin) was outstanding.  He did a great job analyzing the problem and offering options.  The final solution work great and his work was imaculate.  The problem is the Horizon backoffice customer service was awful.  After several calls and email i never got my written estmate nor my final invoice for the completed work.  They have tranaitioned to a new system but 5 days later after a great job by the plumber i still dont have either document.  Very poorr repsonse for work I already paid for and just want my receipt.  Too bad, because the plumber was great, but I will not use Horizon again.

Questionable business practices.  I called for an estimate explaining I would need bathroom fixtures removed and then subsequently replaced after a tiling replacement project.  Do you provide that service, yes, we will dispatch a technician to review and estimate your work.

The technician arrives and I explain the simple details of disconnect, install new/change shut off valves and reconnect as a separate service.   Ohhh, we don't do that but let me talk to you about this $499 a year service plan that gets you discounts on our services.  Cause the things you are talking about might break and we can save you money.

No thanks but here is the $49 fee you want for entirely wasting my time.  

Fancy trucks with logos are just window dressing.  Don't fall for it.  Find a real professional service company.

Buyer beware!  They lure you in with a $59 service fee and jack that up if they don't get the final sale.  I paid $109 for the service call to get an over inflated cost to remove kitchen sink/faucet and install already purchased new sink and faucet.  Quoted cost was $2100 but the tech was doing me a favor because it should be $2700.  What a complete waste of time and rip off.  It is a 3 hour job.  $700 an hour?  Stay away!  Horizon should be ashamed that this is their business model.

Leak under kitchen sink was discovered on Monday.  Horizon plumbing tech came on Tuesday and identified the problem:  the kitchen sink faucet needed a part replaced.  
When checking status with Horizon dispatcher, was told that the part was ordered and a service call would be scheduled after it arrived.
Meanwhile, no water available for cooking or cleaning!
Called to follow up on Thursday.... No progress.
Called to follow up on Friday.... Was told that the part was shipped to the Delaware warehouse (residence is in Maryland), and it would not be available until Monday!
Five days of delay, because Horizon couldn't manage their process.  (And apparently is unaware of FedEx overnight delivery service. )
STILL waiting for an appointment!

When companies send out these useless coupons with tiny print that generally dupes the reader, I throw them in the circular file. Horizon is just one of many companies that do this to lure homeowners. But if your service is good and prices are competitive, why the need for a gimmick or paper spiel? Additionally do not come in my house trying to sell me anything. We're adults here and  don't/won't be sold.
There are better more professional companies out there. I'm on the hunt to find them!

I have the best heating system you can buy for your home actually two systems for my house I never had one problem with them till I hired Horizon to do some maintenance more or less get them ready for winter cuz they had a special within one month both units broke then conveniently they had to come back and fix them I haven't had one problem since I'm just saying

Horizon Services comes in for a prepaid inspection of my working gas furnace on 10/13/17.  Both inspectors (they have someone follow-up) try to scare me into not turning the furnace on or they say you can but be careful.  I have CO2 alarms that are less than 2 years old.  they have not gone off. So now My wife, my 10 year old, my 8 year old, my 7 year old and my 2 year (and I) have a to figure out how to sleep warm in a cold home.  I should've waited until I was physically well. My mind wasn't sharp because of this sinus infection I've been battling. Thanks again Horizon services. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice . . . Now yes I'm stupid for letting this entity come back into my home, but do these individuals think that I'm that slow? My furnace was working, now it's not and they think I'm now going to go to them to service it?  Do me a favor, remove my information from your data base and never contact me again via phone, email, regular mail. Don't stop by my residence, just do not contact me again.  I'll contact you to cancel all services.  Why do I keep forgetting my rule, if he don't shake your hand and can't look you in the eye.  Do not let them in your home.  I wish I could do negative stars.  Thanks for doing your part to make America Great again.

A few weeks ago the heat in my home stopped working. My Gas Boiler is covered under my home warranty but when I called to submit a claim I was told it could take several days before someone could come out to look. I have a 10month old baby in the house as well as two other small children so I setup the claim and started looking around for recommendations for HVAC companies to come out sooner. One popular recommendation on Nextdoor was for your company, Horizon. We called several other companies but Horizon was the only one that had same day availability. Even though Horizon was the ONLY company that required a charge for their estimate we decided to hire them in case the fix was quick in order to get the heat back on in our home. Our thought was that if we had to play a little out of pocket to get it fixed sooner then we were certainly willing to do that.

The technician came out to our home to diagnose the issue. Within minutes he turned the heat on. I was very excited to hear the unit turn on so I asked him what he did! He snapped back at me that he was not going to tell me because it was not a fix but a work around and I could sue him if it broke again and I did not pay him to fix it, only diagnose an issue. I explained that if what he did wasn't safe I would never use it but if it was something that just got stuck or a setting that was misconfigured I would appreciate him telling me what happened. The technician again, refused to share any information with me. He continued looking around my unit and fussing about this and that. He finally stopped and said I needed a new aqua stat, pipe with damper, and expansion tank assembly. He said the prices would be around $800, $1500, and $300 respectively. I must have looked shocked at the prices because he got very agitated and said something along the lines of if you're not going to pay to fix it then why am I even here? You're wasting my time! I explained that I HIRED him to come out to hopefully fix the unit to get my heat back on and I was more than willing to pay if it was a reasonable cost. I told him I am still digesting the numbers you said but I have not decided either way. I asked him how long it would take to do the work and he began to explain that it would take HIM about 2 hours but if I hired other industry scabs it would take them 8+ hours. I then got a dissertation from the tech about how he's a master something or other and that he has 25+ years of experience. He then changed his opinion on fixing the unit and said I should just replace the entire system. I asked how much a new boiler costs and he said his company starts at $10,000 and up. At this point I felt as if I had heard enough and needed to either get another contractor or buy space heaters and wait for the warranty company. He asked me if I wanted to proceed with the repair or replacement and I explained that I would need to talk things over with my wife and get back to him. At that point he really got aggressive and started huffing and then got one his phone. He told me he was texting his supervisor that I completely wasted his time and he should have never come out. He told him he hates coming out to estimates because it's the same story every time. He then told me if I call him back later he is definitely going to charge me MUCH more because he's not working on a unit after other scabs have touched it.

I work in the customer service field and I felt disgusted with this interaction. My stomach turned to think how audacious this technician was when talking to me, a customer, IN MY HOME. This is what I paid $90 for? Really? This tech should NEVER be allowed to interact with customers....ever! He may be very good ...hell he may be the best at what he does but if he were on my team he would be fired in a heartbeat! There is NO excuse for this type of blatant disrespect and lack of customer service. He is a representative of your organization and I'm sure this is not the type of representation you want to have. Needless to say I finally had to ask him to leave and commented how belligerent he was in our conversation. He ended by telling me he wasn't a complete asshole (his words) but if I called back it would cost me.

Since then I had both a Sears electrician and Smith and Sons plumber come out to fix the gas boiler. Combine, they spent less than 2 hours for the repairs. The total cost of parts (covered by warranty) was under $400. That is certainly far less than the almost $3000 your tech initially quoted me. Not bad for so called scabs and their customer service and good humor were incredible! I received a letter in the mail from Horizon which was supposed to be a repair quote but was nothing more than a typed note on how the tech wasted his time and I was unwilling to proceed with his repair at the time he came out. Nothing about the cost of individual parts or labor.

Great service.  Was reminded of appointment through email and phone call.  On the day of appointment I received a call regarding the exact time technician would arrive.  Service was great.  Technician was very knowledgeable and informed me of what service he did.  Communication was great all the way around.  I bought a service contract that was reasonably priced.  Appointments for spring and fall appointment dates are already set.  Good company that does an excellent job!

In need of toilet repair. Made an on line appointment on a Wednesday for Thursday 8-12.... Company called and confirmed appointment. Company sent email with appointment confirmation. Company called the day of the appointment at 9:30am and stated they have another customer that has no hot water and wanted to reschedule to Monday!!! Seriously???

I was told that we would work just as hard for you if you didn't have hot water.... WHATEVER!

I took a 1/2 day off work and got a call someone with no hot water, but I don't have a toilet.

They claim same day service, I think NOT.

Called another company and they are coming out within an hour!

Don't waste your time with these folks.

Worst experience ever and will be contacting the BBB.  Our heat stopped working and we had an evaluation we were quoted $4800 for a band aid fix , yes you heard me right a fix and they would have a sales person come the same day to talk to us about a whole new unit to compare the difference.  We got a second opinion we only needed a new fan motor a $300 fix.  The most dishonest company I have ever encountered I would not recommend.  If I could rate zero stars I would do that.

This is such a great company! I wasn't sure at first because of the slightly (and I mean slightly after haggling) high price but this company went above and beyond my expectations. They installed a new A/C and furnace for me. They also put in a return into my back room. Whomever did my a/c 30 years ago didn't know what they were doing so they walked into a nightmare of a situation. Even though it was tough and took 2 days instead of the quoted 1 day, they made sure I was completely satisfied with everything they did. Just so you know they only install Lennox units. According to my dad who was in the HVAC field for years it's a great unit. They gave me a 10 year transferable warranty on parts, compressor, AND labor! Everyone else I talked to (BGE, Michael and son, and A.G. Mathews) had 2 year labor with option to buy 5 or 10 years. I would highly suggest this company to everyone. Install people were very helpful and explained everything they did. They also gladly answered the many questions I had.  In conclusion, take a chance on this company, you'll be happy you did!

Horizon Plumbing does not honor there own Contracts written for their Customers with their Customers.  

Horizon Plumbing called me to remind me that I have an HVAC check up with their Company that was written up in my Contract with them last year, 2021. This service is free and no under no obligation for a paid service. So I set a date with them to come out and perform the service. Prior to my scheduled date, they called me to ask if I would reschedule my date because they are getting a lot of emergency calls for A/C outages. I of course agreed because my A/C was working just fine...knock on wood. So we set another day. Well, they sent someone out but the wrong Technician was sent. They sent out a Plummer to do an HVAC job. That didn't go well. So we set up another date, but not before the scheduling person told me the mix up was not her fault, that it was mine. Anyway, she felt that she needed to address the matter with her Supervisor, which I felt was a great idea. Then Supervisor called me explained that she didn't know how the confusion was made, but if she could set up another day for me with the right Technician. I agreed. We set up yet another date, and prior to that was called by that same Supervisor if I would reschedule my date because of the many emergency calls of A/C outages. This time I refused. This company called me to remind me of their obligation to me by contract and in the end refused to honor that contract because they were not making any money off of my services.

I probably should give 3 stars because the work was good quality and the plumber was only 30 min later than I was told.
So, that said, over $700 to get a toilet serviced. That's all the works, new supply line,  wax ring etc. To replace the entire toilet was over $1000. If you need this kind of service,  do yourself a favor and YouTube it and DIY. You'll save HUNDREDS.

Tried Horizon Services after reading some good reviews online and was very satisfied with the experience.  They did not use that hourly rate pricing system and was very trustworthy and professional. The worker was courteous and professional with no gimmicks. I had some maintenance work done on my heating furnace. Definitely will use them again.

A/C man showed up and was courteous.  That`s the good.  The bad and ugly is he told me we need a either a new compressor (approx. $4500.), or if I wanted a new A/C unit it would be from $6000. To $9000. Huh?)  Called  different company next morning and  was told  the unit was fine.  He drained excess water, cleaned filters, and charged $250.00. That was about 1 1/2 months ago and unit works perfectly.   I called Horizon and complained and was refunded $79.95 charged for the visit.

My AC was making a shrieking noise. The original appointment was next day in the morning, but customer service did arrange a technician to come in the same day. Super good!

The technician was very nice and professional. He fixed the issue quickly by replacing the capacitor. But $495 price was so expensive that I felt being taken advantage of, which doesn't include dispatch fee and fuel surcharge. If they provided a branded unit, I might feel a little bit better.

On the first day of the latest heat wave that the National Weather Service declared was of emergency proportions, our A.C. went out. I immediately called Horizon Services as they were the ones that installed our unit a couple of years ago, the response was unbelievable! I was told that Horizon did not consider this issue to be an emergency and they could make it out in a couple of weeks because our unit was in an attic and it was too hot for the workers! What! It's not too hot for the customer but too hot for the workers even though when this unit was replaced by them, it was the middle of August! As I am a repeat customer, I was completely appalled by this behavior! We are now experiencing temperatures of the high 80's and humidity in our home that  is extremely uncomfortable. I called a local AC company that fit me into their schedule and I can say for sure, I will never use or recommend Horizon ever again.

A few years ago, I got a special offer from Horizon Services. The technician who came out to inspect, said both the heating and air conditioning systems, consisting of furnace, AC, and a heat pump, were all in good condition and didn't need any service. So, I contacted them for service the next year. This time, a different technician told me that both the outside AC unit and the heat pump were very low on Freon. The prices he quoted for adding the Freon were extremely high compared to a previous time when we had it added. So we declined. Concerned that the equipment might really be low on coolant, I had another company come out to check. The service technician measured the amount of Freon and determined that in both units it was slightly high! So the Horizon technician was dishonest. I would never engage them again.

Just got home to learn that we were charged over $450 for a simple 30 minute kitchen faucet replacement (using a faucet we supplied).  I will check with them tomorrow but there is no way that should cost that much. Wasn't a rush job or anything- we called Friday and the earliest they said they could come out was Wednesday(today)  Work seems okay but $900 an hour?? Yikes!! .I'm hoping they just made an invoicing mistake that can be cleared up with a phone call.
UPDATE: Customer relations did call me back and explain their pricing policy and were kind enough to refund some of the money we paid.  They were very nice and I now have a better understanding of their unique pricing structure.  (Non-emergency calls priced the same as emergency calls)  Will keep that in mind in the future.

I used Blue dot in the past, but Horizon blew them out of the water. Horizon is so professional, clean and they take their time to explain everything, John was awesome, and although my Golden puppy kept bothering him for attention, he was really great with him. I would give him 10 stars if I could. With Horizon you don't feel like they are trying to sell you everything, and the prices are fair.

I had an AC and furnace installed by Phillips Air in Concord, NC at the end of this April. I wanted them to install another AC and Furnace for the downstairs. I called and found out Horizon bought them out. I asked if pricing has changed and was told they need to come out to my house to give me pricing. I asked to do me a favor before I have you come out. Please re-price what I bought from Phillips Air this past April to see how much the price has changed. I am fine with paying more due to inflation but if the price doubles, it is a waste of your time and my time to plan a visit at my home. I was told that if they can't come out that I should find another vendor to sell me an AC and furnace. Needless to say, I can't believe that this is the outcome Horizon wanted from buying an existing company with existing customers. I will be an ex-customer unfortunately.

I don't recommend this place at all.  HVAC wasn't working, and decided to call them.  The service tech couldn't figure out what was wrong with it exactly, but gave me verbal quote $900 to fix it.  So if you don't know what's wrong with it, how did you come up with that estimate? So I called his office and requested an itemized hard copy quote that broke down the estimate.   They refused to provide me my information requested despite paying the $90 diagnostic fee.

Apparently they are only interested in getting you to buy a new unit. Charged me $200 to come out and within 5 minutes tell me I needed a new unit. Left telling me they couldn't fix it and that it was on its last leg. Called another company and they had it running in less than an hour. They did get a good laugh when I told them what Horizon told me about a unit that's 7 years old. Still not sure why they charged me $200 and couldn't fix a low voltage short.

I did the Horizon maintenance plan to keep our HVAC serviced.  There was nothing wrong with it.  They came in and did the annual service and replaced a couple parts on the furnace that they said were getting old.  Three days after they did the annual service, the furnace did not work.  Obviously, there repairs broke the furnace, and I had to call another company to fix it.  I strongly recommend never using this company.  Also, it was way overpriced when they.  The Horizon technician replaced the igniter during the annual service and it took him two minutes.  He charged $600 to fix it.

Just finished reading some of the negative reviews on this site. I'm completely thrown off. I had the COMPLETE opposite experience.
In a nutshell, boiler shutdown by a company I did not trust. I called Horizon for a second opinion. Eric S. came out assessed the same unfortunately, however he showed pictures of my boiler and there was no question it was on last legs. This was 2 days before Christmas and FREEZING temps were on the way. Horizon had someone within the hour at my home to measure and give estimates, and could have it installed THE NEXT DAY! Todd gave us many options on pricing and finance. the next day the 2 man crew came in and showed 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. EVERY Horizon employee was professional and courteous. They made sure they kept my home clean while working and left the basement looking better than when they got there, lol. They made us feel that our business and our needs were the only things that mattered. I AM A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE! Thanks again for making sure the family that was coming for dinner on Christmas day was nice and warm.

They are quick to respond when you need an appointment, but if you have questions or problems about/with the job they did, good luck getting past the girl that answers the phone. I have been calling with a request for a receipt for 8 days now. I paid $1200 and can't get a receipt immediately? In addition, they misdiagnosed the problem and sold me an expensive product I didn't need. Which resulted in higher costs for me because I had subsequent damage due to their misdiagnosis. I have been trying to discuss this issue with them, and can't get past the gatekeeper who answers the phone. Maybe someone there will see this review and contact me.

I have used Horizon Services to install our AC and just today a new water heater. My experience has always been great with the techs and sales teams.  My water heater broke overnight and I called this morning to schedule an appointment. Sharon in the dispatch department said someone could come the next day, but she would call if someone cancelled. She called me back shortly after and said there was a tech who could come same day. Kevin was the tech, and was pleasant to work with. Within two hours he was done.

Not the cheapest company but it's worth it for me for the timeliness alone. The ONLY request I would have is to give the best price upfront. I've had to negotiate each time, which I expect from any company, but how quickly and how much the price drops can be surprising. For the water heater, I was able to cut $1000 off the initial offer in 30 seconds.

I want to reiterate that both Sharon and Kevin were fantastic.

All in all this company is great.

Made two repairs-leaking toilet and replaced a leaking joint pipe in basement. very competent and professional. Explained the repairs.

Don't call that other 'sameday' company; very impressed with the response and professionalism.

techican told me a price and then charged more on the invoice. I was busy doing something else when my husband paid the
bill not knowing what the guy told me the price was. we are selling our house and he told me we needed refrigerant in the a/c unit, he was not asked to check the a/c, he was here for the furnace. anyway I paid to have the stuff put into the a/c because it was the right thing to do and that's what he charged me more for, over $100 more than he told me. I'm not saying the work was bad, we will have to wait and see but definitely customer service is dishonest.  

Update. If the company is really interested in making this right then they should be calling me instead of asking me to call them and go through all the prompts and 5 different People to get to the person who will finally might help me.

The Horizon technician who installed my hot water heater was a monster! I called Horizon services to check my hot water heater because it was leaking. They said they would send out a technician the next day in the afternoon. When he arrived the first thing he said is that the tank had two cracks on the outside and that is why it's leaking. The next thing that he said is this can't be fixed it has to be replaced. Now I know hot water tanks are expensive so I expected a high price but not $4000? So I asked him is this the lowest price you can offer me? So he came back with the discounts that he can put together he can get me a hot water heater tank for $2,500. Since I didn't want to lose my hot water I agreed for him to start the work. Keep in mind he wanted all the money up front and he didn't offer me any financing. He started the work and things started to get heated between him and my mother when she asked him to tell his delivery man who was bringing the new tank to not block our driveway which I knew he was only going to just drop off the tank and leave. But my mother is an elder woman who just loosed her daughter my sister five months ago. She needs to be respected inside her home so when this technician loss his temper and went crazy talking to us like we were children or we worked for him? And he threaten to call his office to send out another tech to finish the job? Really? I was ready for him to go. So after the job was completed I asked him about getting the work financed and he said that I was supposed to ask he that before starting the work. After a half an hour on the phone outside my front door. By the way, he was loud talking with his boss on speak phone putting all my personal information out to my neighbors. After 5 1/2 hours later it was all over. What a knight mare. I advise you to stay away from these crooks they will do their best to pull as much money from you as they can and this guy Calvin is an very unhappy person who needs anger management classes before going back to work for Horizon Services. And I just found out this company offers military discounts? I am retired military but he never said anything about what type of discounts his company offers their customers. My advice to you, stay far away from Horizon Services! 8/16/21 update. I received a phone call from a Horizon Services customer relations representative who heard about what happened with the technician who installed the hot water heater. She expressed her concern about the technician did and stated that Horizon does not tolerate this kind behavior from their representatives. She also said how sorry she was that this happened and that she would send me a discount for the cost of the hot water heater. I believe that Horizon Services truly cares about their customer's experiences with their company. And I appreciate the customer relations representative reaching out to me. Thank you.

Tech gave me 6 options ranging from $2200 to $800 to replace a tap! The service visit was an additional $50. After paying for the visit, I said no thanks. I ended up calling a other company that came for free and replaced the tap for $300.

Update 5/24: Manager called and explained the tech had used the wrong pricing plan. The cheapest option now was $550.They also said that they have 2 years parts and labor warranty hence the higher pricing.

We experienced an emergency incident overnight where our heating system went down in the middle of frigid conditions.  Following my research I called to schedule time for a tech visit and assessment. Everything was perfect as I explained the problem until I was asked for my address.  Upon which I was asked if I live in Baltimore City or County. When I responded that I reside in the City, the operator with a surprising yet embarrassed tone conveyed we don't work in the city, sorry and hung up.

Much to my surprise, I didn't get to share that my home is closer to their office location than we are to downtown Baltimore. In almost 2020 its disheartening to see that the stench of discrimination by where you live still exist.  This company doesn't even deserve the single star it's just been afforded.

Terrible company.  Can never get a supervisor to respond and was told they don't make service calls.   Had an appointment that was rescheduled by them.  Technician came for rescheduled appointment (4 hour window) and arrived on Thursday for maintenance service to my boiler.  Broke a part and had to order the part from the warehouse.  Came back with the new part on Friday (another 4 hour window) and broke it trying to put it on.  Was told the part would be ordered again and they would come on Saturday.  They called Saturday and said part was not in would be in on Monday.  Sent appointment for another 4 hours window to wait for technician.  Got a call on Monday, parts not in ordered too late on Friday.  No guarantee on Tuesday, waiting on parts Supervisor will call in the morning.  No call!  Called Horizon and was told part was in, but supervisor did not call because he/she was late coming in and was in a meeting.   Tech should come between 1 and 3.  it is 1:14 pm no work from anyone if tech is coming.  Once they fix what they broke I will be asking for a refund for warranty and going with another company.

Warning! I called then to unclog my disposal. They advised me that a replacement disposal install would be $1,000! Home Depot sells good disposals for 130-150. The nice technician was able to unclog my disposal and the bill was $105. A fair price., I think this business model is unethical for a National company. I won't use them again.

My a/c wasn't working properly so I called referral service and they directed me to these guys. Associate immediately picked up the call and offered me a same day free consultation. I asked for next day. They called before arriving and were very timely. Andres was my technician. Very nice guy and very informative about my situation. He fixed my a/c and cleaned the unit. Woke up on a Sunday morning and my nest thermostat had an error message indicating no power. I googled an HVAC service company that would respond on a Sunday. Horizon was responsive and sent a technician. The tech was very courteous and sincere but totally misdirected me. He didn't have a testing meter and didn't know how to use mine.  After two hours he concluded that I had a bad defrosting control board and bad compressor. He went on to recommend a total system replacement. He sent me a proposal to replace my 2 ton compressor with a 1.5 ton compressor ($3,782) and the defroster board ($839).  He said it would cost $10K-$15K to replace system. I then went to Home Depot and purchased large space heaters to get me through the night. The next day a tech my neighbor recommended looked at it. He found a low voltage wire that had rubbed bare and determined my thermostat was defective. He also confirmed compressor and defrost board are working properly. He said the reason my compressor was building too much pressure was because the previous tech ran the unit without the blower motor running. He also showed me that the compressor is a 2 ton not 1.5 ton. Had the Horizon tech replaced my unit with a 1.5 ton it would not have been sufficient. In the end my repair required $200 for some electrical tape and a new nest thermostat, not a new system! What should have been a $90 diagnostic visit and $200 thermostat replacement  ended up being $89 for horizon, $200+ for space heaters, $200 for thermostat and $200 for tech who knew what he was doing (he charged $100 but I tipped him an additional $100 for saving me thousands). So, I spent an extra $400 as a result of a bad diagnostic assessment by the Horizon tech. Would have spent much more had I followed through with the tech's assessment. I believe the tech was a nice guy and sincere in his assessment. I think he was poorly trained.

Very disappointed. The furnace in my house stopped working on the coldest night in January.  Although I was impressed with the customer service of dispatch and the timely response, I cannot say the same for the Technician. I am stating he was not knowledgeable about what needed to be repaired,  but I am faulting the integrity. He recommended for me to purchase an entirely new unit, $8k or more. Since the house was warm, I was able to have another company look at it. New thermostat and a $50 part and it is fully functional. I don't know if they receive commission from sales, but he lost on this one.

Please listen to my calls recordings made to your help desk calls. I requested a callback with a particular phone# and left VM with a callback number if unanswered (I was not even mad, just wanted to discuss with him and needed assurance to spend more $$$ after spending $1500 so I can have my heat back for my little kids in a home). I don't have any call or VM on my call list.
Plus, not sure if he had solutions to my HVAC problem or asking for more money to try something else!!

I waited 2 days without heat to hear from your manager before your company tech shows up. Finally, I was done with your company & told your help desk to cancel my appointment.

Price gouged. $900 to replace a single 90deg elbow in an easily accessible location for a gas supply line.

During the home selling process, an inspection uncovered a minor leak at a 90deg elbow supplying gas to my water heater. I called BGE out, they shut off gas at our meter and said call a plumber.

After calling a few plumbers, Google found me Horizon and I'm thankful they were able to come out same day. When the responding Tech arrived, I explained BGE confirmed the small leak, had shut off the gas, and pointed to the elbow.

He grabbed a step ladder from his truck and within 45 mins had replaced the 1 elbow and departed.

Got a letter in the mail for 2 check ups for one low price. Too good to be true? Probably but I set up an appointment. First tech arrived on time and started his inspection. Next thing I know he said I needed a motor starter which he gave me a price. Silly me thought that included the price of the service call. It did not. Then he found cracks in my heat exchange-er. Said I needed a whole new unit! Wanted to set up a comfort consultant. I said no. He put in the motor starter and finished up. I went to pay him, and he told me a much higher price than I agreed to. I told him to remove the motor starter, I paid him and told him to get out of my house. After he left I noticed that my system wasn't working at all. I called Horizon back and they sent someone else to fix it. He was actually pretty good. He took the time to explain that even with cracks in my exchange-er it would still work ok and that I just need to keep an eye on it. He left and I called Horizon who did call me back when they said they would. The manager refunded half my service fee. I talked to a friend of mine and he said Horizon was out to his house and was told he also had a cracked heat exchange-er.  Imagine that!

I have used Horizon Services several times now for yearly maintenance on a heating and AC unit. Making an appointment was simple. The follow up was easy. They let me know when they would be there. They confirmed the appointment and they were on time. I was able to use a coupon and get a good rate for the cleaning. It all went well. I will be calling again to do the next service for the season coming up. I have been happy with Horizon and I think the technician who has come out most times, Andre, has been very good at his job.

TL;DR - I was the customer from heck, but all 8 of the Horizon personnel I worked with were friendly, patient, and incredibly professional. They bent over backwards to earn my trust and confidence, and delivered superior results!

Our furnace stopped working the day after Thanksgiving. I called Horizon in the morning and they had a tech, Shawnte, to our house shortly after noon. Shawnte was great. Very friendly and very fast. He quickly advised us that the furnace shut off because a roll out switch had been triggered. This condition typically happens when the heat exchanger has been cracked, and it can result in very high levels of toxic gases in the flue. I watched as Shawnte checked the exhaust gases with a probe, and the readings were in the thousands of parts per million when they should have been below 50. Shawnte's boss, Carl, then came out with a camera designed to check for cracks in the heat exchanger. I sat with them as they inspected the heat exchanger and found a series of cracks exactly where they predicted they would be.

They had a sales person, Rebecca, out to me that evening. She put a very thorough system estimate in front of me, based on the options I wanted. She answered almost every question I asked, and, when she didn't know the answer, she called Carl, the service manager who had come out to my house, to walk me through the details of the system, Horizon's parts and labor guarantees, and how their installs differentiate them from other HVAC companies in the region.

Later, when I decided I couldn't foot the entire cost of the very nice system I had Rebecca spec out for me, she came all the way out to my house AGAIN (on a Sunday!!!) to help me pare down when I was seeking, sweetened the deal with discounts, and even had me speak with her sales manager, Cameron. Keep in mind that my conversation with Cameron happened at 7:30pm on a Sunday night! In the end, I agreed to a system that was still very nice, much more efficient than the system I already had in my house, but without all the bells and whistles I thought I could afford.

Horizon had a team out *the very next day* to replace my system, and the team, Adam, Tim, Sean, and Dominic were just incredible. Friendly, informative, and patient. They even stopped in the middle of their work to answer questions I had about the system they were installed, etc. They worked for 12 hours to get it all done that day, and Tim and Adam stayed late to walk me through all the ins and outs of my new system and thermostat.

Definitely recommend!!!

Tbis place sent a very unbalanced technician to my house. It was about 9 PM and I was alone with my two young boys. This man had zero emotional regulation and tried to quote me a $3000 repair. When I called my ex-husband to have him talk with this person, the man was rolling his eyes, and literally jumping up and down, and totally annoyed that another man, my question his expertise -- which was completely exploitative. Worse the company has been completely unresponsive to my calls for a refund which I believe I am due as the technician told me nothing I didn't know and was just trying to upsell me a new furnace. Awful awful place. Avoid unless you have a man around to negotiate with them.

Excellent experience from the friendly and professional salesman Eddie, to the installers/technicians.  We spoke to Eddie on the phone, he came over that evening and wrote up the job, called him later in the evening after comparing it with other offers.  He said the job could be done THE NEXT DAY!  They were very prompt (showed up at 801 for an 8-830 appointment ) efficient, clean (used shoe covers and drop cloths everywhere) and did the entire job in the time they predicted.  When they were done they gave me a complete and thorough tour and explanation of the system.   (total AC/furnace replacement) We are very pleased with the process.

We called because 7 prior plumbers never returned our call or stood us up (len the plumber) They were very responsive and up front with pricing, the plumber came and exactly what we needed done with snaking our kitchen drain. Our only complaint was it made a mess in our cabinet and the plumber never attempted to clean it up. No real biggie as I need to change filters under there anyway and it will be alright. We will definately use them again.

I received a call today from Horizon stating that I should have not had to clean up what was left from the plumber. They are refunding half of the cost, now this is customer service and we will deal with Horizon exclusively going forward. I would highly recommend their service to anyone!

I wish I could post this with ZERO STARS.........I am life time resident of Baltimore City. Retired Military and Baltimore City police officer for the last 27 years. I live approximately 6 blocks from the Baltimore Count line. When I called Horizon for service (after receiving a solicitation in my home mail) I was asked do you live in the City?. When I stated that I did, I was informed that none of our techs will come into the city. I think this is shameful. To summarily exclude ALL OF BALTIMORE CITY from your service area is recriminatory. I am glad that I don't live in the county and unknowingly supported your company. Good day.

The wires to my air conditioning were cut accidentally on the hottest day so far. I called Blue Dot first thing in the morning and got a service time for the same day between 4 and 8. Great, right?  No. They never showed and never called. I called them to find out what happened. They were supposed to have the tech call me back. two day's later I am still waiting for a call.  My elderly mother, daughter and I waiting in the sweltering heat all day for nothing. The Next Day I called Horizon and again got a service time for the same day between 4 and 8. At 4:20 they pulled up. Our service man Chris was so polite and professional.  He respected the Covid guidelines and wore a mask when he had to enter the house and when he could he walked around the town house group to get to the air conditioner.  He answered all questions with completeness and patience. He was such a pleasure, we ended up getting a service contract with Horizon. They have our business and Blue Dot will NEVER  get our business.  Thanks Horizon and Chris.  I slept well in a cool house last night!

Cool, calm, collected......and cool cool cool!!!! What heat wave???? After moving into my new house and finding out my A/C unit was 22 years old, calling Horizon Services was the best thing I have done!  They came out with 24 hours, customized a system specifically for my house, and were here the next day to install it. Their highly trained techs were amazing, kept my house clean, and installed the system incident free. Since that day, I have had absolutely zero issues, and have been living in complete comfort. They also offered great warranties and discounts, which helped in going easy on my wallet.  If you are in the market for a new HVAC system, I would definitely recommend Horizon services.

Awful customer service from Horizon Services. Had the heat pump at my home replaced in January and have been waiting since then for a Rebate check. I was told it could take up to 12 weeks to arrive and when it did not I tried calling customer service on April 17th. I was promised a phone call back on Tuesday and that never materialized. I called again on Thursday the 20th and again promised a phone call. It is now Monday the 24th and after calling again this morning and being told I would be called back I still have not heard anything. While I was satisfied by the work performed i will never recommend to anyone because of the lousy customer service since then.

**UPDATE**

After posting review and my 5th phone call in a week I received a phone call from the Customer Relations Manager. Was able to quickly and painlessly resolve my issue and had the rebate check in my hand less than a week later. Updating my rating to 3 stars but could have easily been 5 had the follow through after the install been better.

Had an appointment time frame set from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. They arrived around 4:30 pm after I had to call the company to see where they were. It took them til 1:30 am to complete an air conditioner replacement. No apologies, no discounts. Definitely could care less about your time. Will never use them or recommend them again.

They sent a coupon for a HVAC inspection at half price. The technician claimed he found a crack inside the furnace; sent a pic to his boss for a second opinion, who immediately verified the problem. He then plastered two - permanent - CONDEMNED stickers on the furnace! And sent a salesman the next day. The salesman measured the carbon monoxide output at ZERO parts per million, and said there's no problem anywhere! But we'll sell you a new one for $12K, and he spent half an hour on a hard sales pitch. I bought three monitors, now weeks later they all still measure zero. I will absolutely never talk to these people again.

Horizon Services saved the day !!!! it was raining in kitchen from a clogged pipe and they were out quickly to resolve the issue.  The technician was extremely knowledgeable and very professional.  He was able to diagnose and quickly resolve the problem.   I would highly recommend their services.  Wonderful experience !!!

Horizon knew exactly what to do and fixed my plumbing problem right away!  Price is higher than others but great service.  Discount for vets and seniors.  I only suggest to get more than one estimate to see for yourself and then decide.

I shopped around and received quotes from this company and 3 others for installation of a new HVAC for my condo. Horizon had a fair price and the customer service and installation was worth it.
