Best Plumbing Services in Alaska
I cannot say enough how pleased I was with the services! Shawn is professional and skilled. He goes above and beyond to help his customers. I have already given glowing reviews about this company to my neighbors and will continue to do so. Great work. Decent prices. Dedication to customer service. You don't find that often enough these days but this company does it!

Very nice folks, efficient service and tidy. They were able to come same day I called to clear my kitchen drain, which we really appreciate.

I put in my own Septic ...and
I put in my own water Well ( dug with a backhoe 16 ft down)
For a remote property.
Who are they:
They sell water, sewer and drain products
Cast iron , abs, hdpe, copper, aluminum.
Why would a home owner need them.
If you are a do it yourselfer! That's why!
Paying a contractor, an engineer, etc to put in a septic could cost 15-25,000 in anchorage.
F()k that!
I was off the grid.
But wanted a legit septic.
Core and main sells schedule 40 plumbing pipe.
French drainpipe. Manhole covers...
I picked up 10' pipe
90-45 degree fittings
Splices , valves, t's, caps and glue.
Geo textile fabric to keep dirt from my French drain to keep my property dry
The best part.
I wanted a 20' section of hdpe for a well.
Holy Moses. This stuff is like gold in
Alaska.
It's a thousand dollars plus...and is sold like hot cakes.
Road construction sucks it up.
I wanted 36 or 48
Hard to acquire sizes.
Ferguson..... special order.
Another place..... special order.
I'm not totally sure who the main customers are here .
Subdivision creators?
The state?
Cities?
They were so accommodating to this small ( not to me) customer.
Helped me load, smiled , asked questions.
Answered questions.
I was incredibly surprised this low overhead, outdoor lot , construction focused , PROFESSIONAL, outfit.
Held me by the hand and
Sold me what I needed...,NOT what I asked for !
My review scratches the surface.
They sell
From what I can tell.
Anything for your business.
Where the utility stops.
From hospital to home built cabin in the woods
With 10 star customer service.

I reviewed this company incorrectly based on a similar name to a business located in Wasilla, that we have a negative experience with. I gave them 5 stars, because I cannot find how to delete my review, only edit it.

Alpine has been our septic service provider for many years. They are always prompt and professional. They were especially helpful this past winter when water was backing up into our laundry room. The tech Larry did a great job .
Arlene, the office manager is always very helpful and goes above and beyond to help us out. Highly recommend!

I have dealt with multiple other plumbing and heating companies in Anchorage and Eagle River over many years. I recommend Mountain Mechanical over all others, without reservation. They are extremely knowledgeable, honest, friendly, and caring.

My water heater broke on a day they were booked, and they managed to get me an emergency appointment the same day! Turns out my gas valve had broken, luckily he had a replacement part in his truck.
Great service, fast and reliable! He walked me through what was wrong and what he was doing to fix it. Very friendly and professional. Will 100% call them if anything else breaks!

I would recommend anyone who has heating issue at home I called them last minute when my heater wasn't working and they responded within minutes! Very helpful people and they were able to get to my house the same day and fixed the issue. They have good communication and very knowledgeable! 10/10 would refer and hire them again if I were to have issue again!

I just got charged the equivalent of $700 an hour !!!!! (there were no parts, special costs, etc.)
Yes, that is true. I'll now avoid Alkota Plumbing & Heating (they lost a returning customer). On April 15, 2015, I requested a service call to help install a simple bathroom faucet. I already purchased the faucet, and I had the old faucet half-way uninstalled. Part way in doing the work, I thought it was best to have the installation finished by a skilled worker. It was a simple task with no additional parts needed. The entire call lasted a half-hour. For that I was billed $350 !!! That is exorbitant even considering a basic service call fee on top of an labor charge.
In the past I had used Alkota for a kitchen faucet call, bathroom toilet call, and a furnace call. I was satisfied in the past, so I called the company for this service. Well, apparently their policies changed. For my kitchen faucet installation three years earlier, Alkota charged me $186.24 ($160.00 of which was for labor and the service call, so excluding parts it turned out to be the equivalent of $128 an hour). That call involved a few special parts (I supplied the faucet) and turned out to be a little complicated due to my kitchen setup, so for the 1 hour 15 minute call I thought the rate was quite fair. And that plumber (someone different) at the time was very professional. But how did the rate go up 273% in just three years?
Another thing irks me. On the day of service when paying by credit card a yellow invoice is given. Of course, none of the bill is listed for parts. But weeks later I received an invoice by the mail with a credit card receipt. But that second receipt shows materials for $16. The total amount is the same, but where did the idea come from that there were extra parts involved? I supplied the entire faucet that came with all the parts.

They did extra work that was not requested and got charged for it. After they left, whatever they did caused a leak to happen the same day and it took an act of congress for them to come back and fix the leak. DONT RECOMMEND!

We had our heating and fireplace inspected by extreme heating and air before closing on our purchased home. They reported some minor things that needed to be fix and fixed them. When we move in our furnace had an active leak and rust, called to ask if they can come back to check it out. It's hard to miss so I don't understand why that wasn't in the inspection report and fixed earlier. They came to fix it and made sure to charge us for it when it should have been handled initially. My opinion is they don't do thorough inspections and will charge you again if they missed things initially.

Agree with Kelly...my husband called to have them come out and do a quote and they were very rude and said they would also charge us travel time from the last job the tech was at to when they got to our home? Very unprofessional. On a lighter note, there are some great ones in town to deal with that are super professional.
