We have been using Summers for some years now and really appreciate how responsive and reliable they are every time something comes up. I can tell how hard their people work! Just recently we had really great service from Dustin Scheele. He was incredibly professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I especially appreciate how incredibly thorough he was about educating me on how to properly take care of our system.

Summers says to call them if you want to pay a lot, but that's a joke. When they get to your house, at which point you've been living with a difficult situation for some time, the technician tells you they charge a flat fee--it's not a small one, pressures you, and misleads you about how long it will take to do the repair. I paid something like $225 for 45 minutes of labor. False advertising! I called to complain and said if they charge a flat fee, they need to tell you when you make the appointment and specify what it is. The manager said they couldn't name a price until the tech looks at the situation. Obviously, that makes no sense if they charge a flat fee. BTW, the office staff who set up appointments are not informed of the flat fee policy because that's not their job, according to the manager. What a way to run a business!

Ridiculously expensive bordering on rip-off artists. I had a few faucets that needed some rubber gaskets. The cost was disgusting. I paid because I did not know what it should have cost and needed it fixed. I was also roped in to an expensive service fee. Buyers remorse doesn't even come close to the frustration I had when I spoke with another plumber and did some research and discovered I paid 4X what I should have.

They try to rope you into a service contract the first 5 minutes they are at your house. They offer you a discount on the service if you sign up. They try and give you bunch of exaggerated horror stories about certain things in your house breaking down any moment. I have a brand new water heater and was told that it was due for service. It's really an uncomfortable situation.

Lastly the plumber who showed up was crass and condescending. He treated me like I was stupid when I didn't sign up for the service plan. Sadly, I was stupid. I should have paid the ridiculous service fee and called another plumber. I would have saved hundreds of dollars.

My next stop is a posting to the BBB. Avoid.

Avoid this company at all costs. Total Disaster. They installed everything in our house in 2018-since then it's been nothing but problems WITH EVERYTHING, PLUMBING AND HVAC. They've been out here 14 times, and my 15th service call was just booked this morning. This time for my water heater, which has magically stopped working (again). About 10 of these 15 service calls have been in regards to our furnace which has been extremely unreliable and goes out randomly in the dead of winter. Summers always comes out with a band aid, then, sure enough the same thing happens in a month or two. I'm done with this company, they haven't heard the last from me. Do yourself a favor and choose any company BUT Summers for your plumbing and HVAC needs.

15 service calls in 3 and a half years. And NOTHING has been replaced. They installed lemons in my house and don't seem to care enough to do anything about.

I was told today I'd have to wait 48 hours to speak with a manager. Unreal.

Utterly incompetant.  Sleezeball plumber tried to tell me every single thing he looked at needed to be replaced with new stuff.  He literally said he couldn't take apart a 6 year old faucet.  If I didn't know anything about plumbing I would now be about $10,000 in the hole.  The pricing quotes he had were about three times higher than the competition.  Stay away from these lying plumbers.

When I lived in Indianapolis, I used Summers of Broad Ripple. I always had great service. So when I moved to Nobleville, I thought I'd give this franchise location a try. I live in Old Town, and the pipes are galvanized. I was looking for a quote to get my pipes updated. Had them scheduled to come out Wednesday July 6, and I was expecting a quote the next day, per the employee. Well the next day came and went. I called the office on Friday to get an update..still no luck. It's been 1.5 weeks and I have not heard anything back from them. Thankfully I had another company come out this past Wednesday and they are amazing. It's a lot of work, so maybe that's why I never heard back. But a call letting me know it is out of their scope would have been nice. Now due to this, I will be finding another company to do my annual maintenance on plumbing and HVAC.

Appt at 10, showed up at 8. Was in a hurry to get to the lake. Said we had cracks in our heat exchanger and don't use or we will have a fire. Had another consult and not the case.

Disappointing to say the least. I'm not a big fan of expensive refundable trip charges just to diagnose your problem,  but basically keeps you on the hook to use them.  If your technicians are good and your prices in line,  this wouldn't be needed.

The repair we had should have been a simple one,  but was not a standard off the shelf faucet.  Asked the receptionist to insure they would send a tech out with experience with the specific model.  They didn't.   The guy struggled,  and wouldn't look at the instruction book,  which I offered multiple times.  After his 3 attempt at installation,  he announced it complete,  and started filling out paperwork.  Luckily I went in to check to see it was not installed correctly and not working.
I basically took over at that point, read through the manual with him and help him complete the job.  Finally wrapped up after 8:30 pm.

Not really sure how much this is on the tech and more on the practices of the company in how they handle things.  But I won't use them again

I have been a customer for over 15 years.  Had a plumber out approximately 2 weeks ago to reinstall toilets (2) after the floor was replaced.  While I had problems with the pricing, ultimately they made the price reasonable.  On 12/26, I had a pipe burst and the tech was timely, friendly, proficient and reasonable on price.  He was at my house within 1 hour and all he asked for was my address.  I had an appointment for my winter service plan for Jan 5 (yes, that was the date to do preseason maintenance).  I called to change the appointment date, and they wouldn't let me do it until I confirmed information, including the address, phone, backup phone, billing address, and more.  I got upset because they wouldn't talk about why I called until they finished with the questions.  I asked for a supervisor and told none were available.  I ended the conversation and dialed back.  On call back, the person looked up, rescheduled the appointment.  I explained my previous call and she was apologetic.  Less than 5 minutes later I got a call from a customer service supervisor.  The call went bad.  She explained that this was policy to confirm information and basically talked down to me.  It has become hit or miss on the tech, the service center, but mostly customer service center.  I own a business and I'm not going to be right all the time, but I would be out of business if I paid attention to customers the way they did.

I signed up for Summers Maintenance Plan to keep my equipment in good working condition and during my heating inspection they noticed a rusted heated exchanger and instead of recommending it for replacement - they immediately turned the gas off to my heater and said that according to state law they can't turn it back on until it was replaced and tried to get me over a barrel. I called another company and when I explained the situation they asked me if I had the inspection done by Summers - I didn't even have to tell them who did it. The other company agreed to come out, offer a second opinion and turned the gas back on.

Terrible customer experience - all they care about is making the sale, not providing you with recommendations or treating you fairly.

I never thought I'd write a review for a Heating & Cooling company, but the level of quality customer service I've had with Summers has surpassed my expectations.

Shoutout to Justin, who not only sold me a new furnace last year, but was extremely helpful last night when I had a power outage and needed assistance with troubleshooting a reset on my furnace.

Big thank you to the entire Summers team.

BUYER BEWARE! PROCEED WITH CAUTION! In my effort to assist my aged parents with a 2 yr old water heater issue that Summers installed previously, it was immediately discovered how UNRESPONSIVE, UNSCRUPULOUS, and UNETHICAL this company is. Upon request, my 85 y/o father received a quick quote to replace the newer water heater for discounted rate of $760+/-, even with a purchased maintenance plan offered by Summers. However, after I interceded for further explanation and responsiveness, their reaction was slow. It took significant persistence, and a different service technician to offer a similar solution to replace the water - not repair it.
Since I knew the water heater is still under warranty, the idea of paying for a new water heater was unusual. Therefore, I requested an additional explanation. A Supervisor called me and did not offer any sound or reasonable justifications for the required fee to replace (FYI, the discussion was comical with his attempt to justify). Shortly into our conversation, he immediately offered a 50% discount (which in itself was an unusual compromise, if he felt the fee was justified). He attempted to gauge my reaction like a used car salesman and met reluctance instead because my father should pay nothing = $0.00. In conclusion, the supervisor approved the work order without fees.

Do I feel like I won? HECK NO. I feel like a dodged a bullet.
I was NOT trying to win or get something for free...only sound justification to pay fairly.

This company obviously has an unscrupulous practice to deceive when convenient or possible. If they can get a few bucks easy...the will try. If there is any push-back or reluctance from the customer then acquiesce and chalk-it-up for a good try

Homeowners, BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THIS PRACTICE. IF you feel like you're being unfairly treated...you probably are.

I had set up an appt a couple of weeks ago for today and no call or no show. This was my first time to try them since we moved here from TX. When I called they said they had called me and said I canceled the appt. But they didn't call me as they didn't have my phone number. Poor way to run an office.

Don't use summers. Charged me for services they were unable to provide. No refund. Asked several other companies in the area what they charged for the same work and every single was a fraction of the cost. They were unable to fix my ac and technician was unprofessional, tried to leave before even checking if the system worked after service. It did not. The quote they gave me for replacement was almost double every other quote I got. They also billed me again the day before credit card payment was due, causing me to pay additional interest and a late fee because of a billing error on their part. Additional Fees were also not refunded.

Tried calling their 24/7 hotline at 7:50am today as my AC is having issues. woke up to a 78-degree house with the temperature in the 90s today in my area. Talked to Tamisha who took my information and then got tripped up on if this was an emergency. I responded that, Well, I have no AC and it is 78 degrees inside my house and it is supposed to be in the 90s today, I have two young children, under 2 here in the house as well, I don't know if that counts as an emergency but I would like to someone to come look/service my AC today. She repeated, Is this an emergency sir? I politely asked, Well what do you guys consider an emergency, so I can see if my situation qualifies for it? She responded, Before 8am. What?? I asked her again, What is considered an emergency to you guys and I can tell you if it is an emergency. She kept stating, Before 8am...

What do you mean before 8am? It is 7:50am right now, in ten minutes it will be 8am, but I don't see how a measurement of time is their definition of an emergency? How does that make sense? She would not proceed with the call, just kept going 8am is what is considered an emergency. That isn't even a logical response or answer to the question, What do you consider an emergency? If you called 911 and they asked What's your emergency? Would any sane person respond with, 8am! or any unit of time?

I don't know if their call center employees are a reflection of their actual service, but they did not get my business, even though I desperately needed service, because they would not proceed. They just wanted to waste my time about what is an emergency! I would not recommend this company...

They did what we needed done. They were pricey, but let's be honest, all plumbers seem to be. Did they rip me off? I have no idea, I don't know jack about plumbing. What I do know is we've called them twice. Both times they've come out the same day, been professional, and fixed our problems. I also know that the next time I have a plumbing issue I'd call then again.

A rep came out and told my wife it would cost about $550 to replace our garbage disposal.  I asked what kind of disposal he would be installing, and I found out that it is one that costs $99 at Lowes.  He said we could buy our own and the install would be $230.  So the unit and warranty combined for over $300, when you can pick one up for $99 plus a $12 warranty.

WE GUARANTEE TO MEET OR BEAT OR COMPETITORS PRICES?!

That was a 300% markup over their competitors who also, by the way, charged half the price for installation.  Unacceptable prices.

And we had to pay for the service call for the guy to come out.

They promptly called me back when I left a message. They charge $94 to give you an estimate. They say they need to see what materials they need for the job and if you accept their quote the will deduct the $94 from the quote. They are charging us to compete for our business. It's racketeering.

Absolutely pathetic. I also signed up for the maintenance plan and never once seen them for over a year. They did not contact me to set anything up. But continuously took the money out of my bank account. And then when they do show up they nitpick and try to get you to spend thousands of dollars on repairs that are not needed. Thanks for nothing. I read another post that was talking about trying to make the deal but they can't provide the services and that's exactly what I got.

Our AC was not fully working.  Happy that Summers tech came out same day.  After inspection, I was told that there was a leak in the unit and since unit was so old it would cost over $1000 to add Freon with no idea how quickly it would leak again.  I was expecting to may have to replace the unit as it was 20 years old.  The tech then went downstairs to look at furnace and came up and told me it was cracked and I needed to replace that also.  After a few minutes he worked up a quote to replace both furnace and AC for $12,995.  He also said he was upsizing the AC from 3.5 ton to 4 ton.  I paid him the $99 and thanked him for the estimate.  I then called two other HVAC companies in my area.  They also came out same day.  I then learned the following:  1- The Summers tech turned off my gas without telling me, 2- The Summers tech removed the fuse from the AC without telling me, 3- The AC unit I have is 4 ton already (not 3.5).   Both the quotes from the other companies were almost $3000 LESS (around $10,000).  These other companies would also add Freon at no charge to get me some cooling the same day until the new units could be installed.   Always get more than one quote if you do decide to call Summers.

These people are HORRENDOUS!!! They were an hour late, and when they arrived, they tried to scam us. We called for a loud noise coming from our furnace. They told us that it was our Fan Inducer Motor, and that it had to be replaced. They ran (or tried to run) this scam on us where they make up a RIDICULOUSLY high quote, then offer to take $200.00 off for signing a service agreement with them. They quoted us $850.00, and offered to be super cool and get it down to $650.00  Luckily, we are not stupid, so I told this bright orange dressed gentleman that I was going to research the cost of the part, and ease of installation, as this part is only connected with a plug, and 4 screws. He assured me that it was a LEVEL D (which is apparently way up there lol) difficulty repair, and that the part is $600.00 Long story short, he lied. The part is $125.00 brand new, and the repair takes 5 minutes to do. Just a plug, and 4 screws. I showed these guys how I caught them in their scam, and they simply opened their eyes VERY wide, and turned beet red. I must say, the best red faces looked nice against those almost neon orange shirts and hats they were sporting. I told them not to worry, they weren't the first band of idiots that I caught trying to run a scam. At that point they tried to collect their $89.00 service call fee. I presented them with a coupon for a FREE SERVICE CALL. The gentleman told me it was only free with a paid repair. Well....The coupon contained no documentation supporting his last grab at my cash. He sure did push that piece of paper right up to his beet red stupid face and try to find a way to get that money, and sure enough, after his extensive examination of said coupon, he admitted VERBATIM that we don't have a leg to stand on. Indeed Summers service call guy, indeed. Well, I hope this saves someone $475.00 like i saved myself by looking into their RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED QUOTES. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE BLACK PLAGUE.

I am appalled with the way I was treated on Monday. I am very upset and disgusted with the fact that I was charged a premium cost for someone to come out to my home on Sunday, ($275) only to 're-light' the hot water tank and told that everything was Ok. Then Monday morning I still had no hot water. I had to stay home from work ($$$) to have them come back to my home to be told THEN that I needed an entire new hot water tank. I should have at that time been reimbursed for the $275 that I paid -for nothing- not to mention a lost days wages. The flipin attitude of the technician on Sunday was terrible. Even after I asked him to make sure everything was working right, he assured me it was just that the pilot went out and I would be fine. To then find out 24 hours later that on top of the $275 I already spent, I was then having to spend $1800 more for a new tank WITHOUT ANY COMPENSATION FOR THE $275 I ALREADY PAID. I have totally lost any confidence I had in your company. I think it is a real shame that you can continue these kind of practices and get away with it. If I was told I needed a new tank on Sunday - this entire transaction would have gone differently. You have lost a customer....you have lost my recommendation....and I will be sure to express to everyone in my HOA the horrible experience I had with Summers PHC.

Service was on time, professional, courteous, and did a great job. However, $480+ to set two toilets that took the service person 45 minutes to install is price gouging.

First, the work was completed in a timely fashion.

The problem I have is from the up-sale of the maintenance plan.  Which prevented me from using my free service visit coupon a $89 savings.  Instead I got 20 % off which amounted to $40 savings.   Does not leave a good feeling knowing the maintenance contract cost me more than not having one.  First time customer by the way.

Now we are canceling the maintenance plan over refusal of honoring coupon.  We would of kept the plan so this makes a bad business decision not to mention customer service on Summers end.

Updated 11-20-14 to add my final experience with Summers:  I scheduled a service call for today and burned a vacation day from work to be home for my appointment.  I was given an arrival time between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.  At 1:50 pm I received a call from a Summers customer service rep telling me that they would have to reschedule my appointment because they had too many emergencies today.   I told the representative that I had taken a vacation day today for my service call and asked if someone could come after finishing with the emergencies?  She said I have no one to send but I can reschedule your appointment for two weeks from now.  Seriously, two weeks is their next available appointment?? AFTER they cancelled my appointment, last minute, causing me to waste a vacation day?  Paying $150 per year to join their Priority Club means nothing when it comes to scheduling.

Done. With. Summers.

I have given them way too many opportunities in the past several years simply because I like their service techs but I can no longer deal with their serious lack of consideration for customers and impossible scheduling.

End of update

I have no complaints with their service employees but the customer service isn't very helpful or friendly.  It is difficult to make an appointment, unless  you plan to take a day off work several weeks in advance.  It seems no matter how far in advance I try to schedule the date/time I need is not available.

The customer service reps seem to take great pains to ensure that their service techs aren't inconvenienced.  They call a week ahead of time to confirm your appointment, and then they won't send their service people until they receive a verbal confirmation over the phone on the day of the appointment, even though you have already confirmed the appontment.  And it doesn't matter if you work a mile from your home, they won't allow a service tech to head to your home unless you are there waiting.

On my last service call (which was just an annual cleaning) Summers called to confirm my appointment a week ahead of time.  I know from prior experience that the tech usually arrives at the end or after the two hour appointment arrival window that is given.  So I have to leave work and wait at home for up to two hours, often much longer, while I wait for the tech to arrive AFTER I give a verbal verification that I am home, waiting.

I will point out that I have NEVER missed an appointment or made the tech wait for me so Summers has no reason to believe that I won't be there when the tech arrives.

When the customer service rep called me to say that the service tech was ready to head to my house I asked how long it would be so that I didn't have to leave work if I was going to be waiting two hours or more.  The rep told me, I don't have that information, only that he will head your way as soon as you are home to give verbal conrfirmation.

I asked, Head from where?  She told me again that he would simply head my way as soon as I was home to give a verbal confirmation.  I explained that I worked very close to home and didn't want to leave two hours before he showed up.  I explained that if I knew where he would head from it would help.  She again stated, less patiently this time, that all she could say was that he would head my way only AFTER I was home to give a verbal confirmation.  So was he going to head from  Carmel?  Greenwood?  Terre Haute?

So I gave up and went home so that I could give my verbal confirmation, and of course I waited the usual two hours for him to show up.  I always end up thinking, Who is the customer here??  Everything is done for the convenience of Summers, rather than their customers.

One time I had an appointment that I had made weeks before, and Summers had called to confirm one week before.  I had taken the day off work to get my furnace serviced but no one from Summers called to tell me that they had cancelled my appointment that day.  And when I told the rep that I had taken the whole day off work because of that appointment, which they had confirmed the previous week, all she said was, When would you like to reschedule?  And then their next available appointment was weeks away, even though Summers had neglected to call me to even let me know that they were cancelling my appointment!

I have been a Summers customer for several years and although I like the service techs I am about done with Summers.  It is too difficult to schedule an appointment and I don't care for their lack of customer service.

I have paid to join their priority service club every year but it seems to make little difference.  I still can't get a convenient or timely appointment.

After three visits out to our new home in the last five months, we highly recommend Summers Plumbing. They've helped us with everything from water line hook up to the fridge, back up sump pump issues, to most recently, replacing a water heater and water softener on a Saturday. We have the protection plan so when we called at 3 p.m. on a Saturday, we didn't receive an extra service charge for the weekend and Dustin arrived within an hour. Dustin has been out to our house twice, and he has been absolutely excellent - extremely professional, explained things well, and we in no way felt that Summers was trying to take advantage of us or get us to spend more money than necessary. Dustin spent over 8 hours at our home on a Saturday to replace the water heater and water softener (with help from Mike), and we couldn't be more pleased with their service. Thanks, Summers!

I called Summers for an A/C issue a few weeks back.  The tech told me the compressor was bad on my Trane unit.  I was told about $2900 to repair it and I was quoted between $5800 - $8800 to replace it.  I paid for the Service call and decided to get a second opinion from someone I trust.  I guy I have used on my rental properties for the past 5 years.  So
Hosanna property services came out.  Brett the owner replace the capacitor and checked the loads........ go to go.  Service call, part and labor -$165.00 WOW.
If you need service.... Call Brett at Hosanna property maintenance - his number is #317-654-4126.  Call Brett for an honest opinion and save yourself some $.
In short........ do not waste your time calling SUMMERS Heating and Cooling.  I called the general manager there and left a message.  She never even returned my call!

I had them come out to check air conditioner and of course it needed a pound of freon and I signed a service contract with them.  I had them come out to check out a noise in my furnace and they said it was the fan motor shaft.  It only took 6 trips to get the motor replaced and quiet.  They just left from my fall plumbing check.  What a waste of time,  they checked to see if my faucets leaked,  hell they weren't leaking since I replace the seals myself,  I expected them to check the water heater, check the elements, thermostats and flush the water heater.  Nope, just took the model number and said all was well.  I had already checked the elements and thermostats but wanted to see what they said.  So I cancelled my contract with them.

Stay away from this company! Airtron is so much better!
I have maintenance agreement! Scheduled for regular tune up in the beginning of spring 2018, they rescheduled 3 times for emergency calls still didn't show up. In July 2018 my AC not working. The service guy came out with no ladders and went home! Next day, different guy told me the coil dirty need to be cleaned. Charged me $500 to clean and Still not working! The third day another guy came and told me low on Freon, he charges the unit for free! Still not working! He told me unit 14 years old! About time to replace! Gave me a Quote for $9000! Should have told me in the first place my ac should be replaced instead of tried to fixed it! And I called someone else gave me a quote for $5500! Then I called Summer Heating and cooling to give me refunds for maintenance because they didn't do tuneup at all! Couple ladies in the office refused to refund money! Thirty minutes later called me back, they changed their mind to give me the $159 back for my maintenance agreement contract!

Very disappointed in this company and the Watco water softer it sells. Summers sold and installed a new $1,600 sofer unit for me called Watco. Summers sold me on the fact they feel Watco is the best in the industry. Nonetheless, 10 days after install, the head and failed and I had a pool of water in my utility room. Serviceman informed me he could see where the unit was overtighten at the factory and damaged. After replacing the head, the serviceman left. The unit continued to have a leak. A second serviceman arrived and fix the install by properly using plumbing tape and adhesive. Nonetheless, my confidence is quite shaken about the water softener product Watco and the install by Summers.

Horrible, horrible, horrible scamming company. Kokomo Summer's Heating Technician Austin McQuiston came to my home on January 21, 2019. I already knew the inducer motor was bad, but did not have the time to fix. So I called Summer's to fix. I walked Austin to the basement and pointed right at the inducer and explained what I needed done. He concurred and we walked back upstairs and sat at the dining room table to discuss the repair. He immediately tried to sell myself a $150 maintenance plan. I told him I was absolutely NOT interested in that. He continued and said I would save money on the repair if I signed up. I asked him how much the repair was and he quoted $850 on a preprinted paper and showed me $819 if I took the maintenance plan. I told him he was way over priced and that number was ridiculous. I still had to pay $89 for this scamming company for their show up fee. I asked him why they could not quote the price over the phone, when I knew exactly what it was. He stated the girls just set up appointments (connect me to someone whom can answer a question). I ended up taking a day off and doing the repair myself. It took myself an hour and the part was $120 through King's Heating and Cooling. Austin why does your company charge $730 for less then 1 hours worth of work??? It was 8 screws and a couple of wires!!! Do you guys do this to elderly people, as well. The answer is yes, if you look at all of Summer's bad reviews. STAY AWAY FROM SUMMER'S!!!

i had a maintenance agreement with them for HVAC and plumbing.  made an appt for my AC maintenance a month in advance and was on schedule for friday morning 6/1, only to get a call that morning telling me they're cancelling my appt for some lame reason and they wanted to push me a month out on a reschedule.  why?????  i had a set appt and i also have an agreement we signed that they promised to keep up my equipment.  the lady on the phone was rude and when i told her this is not right she said ok i'll put you on the cancellation list and hung up on me. tried to call main office and left message for manager and no one called me!!  i did not do anything wrong and they just felt they wanted to be rude and unprofessional and cancel my service appt.   so i guess i will be cancelling my service and will never refer them or use them again!

I had requested an estimate for a plumbing issue. They came out and gave me a quote of over $300 the outside spicket replacement. I thought that was high as this was very much accessable from the basement area. I said I wanted to get a second opinion and was then charged $90 for the estimate. Shame on me for not asking up front if this estimate was free! What a rip off. Wow! By the way I got the item replaced for $150 by another plumber.

I had them come out and they did a leak test . I had a coupon for a free service call but then after the service was preformed I was told that the coupon didn't apply because that is a diagnostic test not a service.   WTF .! So that added another $89 to my bill .That's just messed up if you ask me .Won't be using them again.

Disappointing customer service and processes.   There are many companies vying for business in this area, my strong recommendation is to go with a company outside of Summers.  I was on a maintenance plan, scheduled an appointment two months previous and needed to take 1/2 day off work to ensure I was here during the call.  I was contacted two hours before they were to arrive indicating 'other customers emergencies' took priority and they would need to cancel.  When I called the company, three individuals each provided reasons as to why the way they handled and that it reasonable.   Not comfortable with this answer I asked to talk with the owner, I was told they couldn't commit I would hear back from him and that he didn't get involved in operational matters.  Perhaps this is part of the problem as I noticed ratings for this company are low.  No concessions were made to come out at another time after hours or to solve the issue in any way.  I cancelled my maintenance plan, got a refund and will use another company moving forward.  Thought this experience may be helpful as others decide which company to support as I'm sure others out there would do a good job.

Too many instances where the original work had to be redone. They installed a new furnace a couple years ago and when it was used the first time, condensation backed up all over the floor thru the drain pipe. The on-call person said the drain installation was incomplete, similar to a j pipe under your sink, and he finished the install. While he was doing this he stated that the coil should have been replaced and other negative things about the install.
Two years ago we had them install a water heater. I noticed the relief valve was flush against the drywall and inquired if it would still function properly. The technician told me it would function, relieve pressure, if it had to. Three months ago I called them to do routine maintenance on the WH and that technician saw the relief valve and said that's not good. If you have to release pressure, you couldn't. I asked him about our banging water pipes and he said an expansion tank would fix the problem and should have been discussed at time of original install. I spoke to Dan at Summers PHC and he agreed it should have been recommended at time of install because of the check valves on our city water main. I pulled the invoice and nothing was noted on it. All Dan could say about both instances was sorry, should of, would of, could of. He offered no incentives to me when I said I was done hiring them.
I just had Kent H&C reinstall the water heater, a shorter pipe was all it needed, and install an expansion tank.
We also had Summers replace two outside spigots. When they came to do the job, the plumber couldn't fit in our crawl space so the salesman did the install while receiving instructions from the plumber. I wish I could tell you  about the alleged damage that may have happened because of that install.
I'm done with them.

I had Summers come out and do a seasonal check up on my HVAC.  While there, their tech (more like a high pressure salesman) told me I needed to replace my furnace (which was 6 years old at the time) and my water softener (which was 2 years old). They tried to get me to finance $8000 of product and service and did it very convincingly.  I decided to get a second opinion to be safe.  I'm glad I did.  For $150 the other company got my system running better and saved me $8000 on stuff I didn't need.

I also responded to an offer of a precision tune-up and professional cleaning for $54.  They came to my house on Feb. 15.  I was shown a picture on an iPhone of possible mold growing in my furnace, and I was given three options of things that needed to be done to my furnace ranging from $742 to $2212.  Although my furnace was working fine before they came, the next day my furnace was not working properly.  The temperature was 60 degrees even though it was set at 66 degrees.  I had my regular heating company come out to check on it.  There were wires pulled off of the blower capacitor.  This caused the control board and the main limit switch to short out.  Long story short, I had to replace the control board, which cost me an additional $445, for a total of $499 when there wasn't anything wrong with my furnace to begin with.  By the way, the mold turned out to be a little rust which isn't hurting anything.

If you receive one of these advertisements with a good price for a check-up or a tune-up, I recommend that you throw it away.  I don't know if the wires were left off of the back of my furnace intentionally or through negligence, but either way I would not recommend Summers Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning of Franklin to anyone.

I've used these guys for several years.  I like keeping business local.  The last preventative maintenance they did on my furnace cost me over $800 and an extra day from work.  To be honest, after having another heating company look at the same thing and finding nothing, I feel scammed by Summers.  Two of their service technicians said I had a crack in each chamber of my heat exchanger, when, in fact there were NONE!  What a scam they have going.  What gets me is I rely on them to be the experts and they take advantage of a customer.  I heard they caught caught scamming customers recently and it appears they are still doing it!  Run as fast as you can from this company!

Im still a little upset about the run around the lady gave me but they ended up coming out to the appt that i had supposedly cancelled. The lady i spoke with this time was very nice unlike the 1st lady. I told her what happened and also the ladys name i had a complaint about. The technician that came out was very nice. I did pay 60 dollars for some filters they had to order and they said they would call me in a couple days when they came in.. Its been at least 2 weeks now so I'm going to have to call them i guess and ask where my filters are. So i will give them a higher rating when i see what the situation is with my filters that i paid for in advance and haven't received yet.

This company offered a really good deal on annual air conditioning tuneup last year so I decided to give them a try.  I bought their 3-visit package:  (plumbing check, tuneup, AC check, furnace check).  Two of the techs were really friendly (the AC and furnace ones); the third (plumbing check) less so.  He pulled out a camera (kind of like the dentist does) and showed me the inside of my furnace, which had some rust spots.  This didn't mean much to me but he insisted that because of these  the furnace needs to be replaced.  Of course I was alarmed, so called my regular local appliance company for a second opinion and they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the furnace.  Plumbing guy said my water heater was such a poor model that the company doesn't make them any more.  I called the company and that said that they are making that model to this day.

Because of this shady advice, and because I had similar scheduling issues as the other customers, I gave their special offer a pass this year.  It's too bad, because other than the sales pitches, the techs really were friendly.  But I am a single woman living alone and depending on repairmen to be honest about repairs.  I just don't feel I can fully trust them.

I got lured by their furnace tuneup discounted offer. But I had a feeling that it was just to get them in. The tuneup was nothing but cleaning the condensed water pipe. Of course they want to get you somewhere. Although my furnace was running fine, yet the tech recommended to replace the capacitor and he quoted the price of $98. I okayed to replace the capacitor. It took him literally 1 minute to put one in. When he was doing the paper work, I decided to check the price of the capacitor online. To my shock it was a $2 part, for which he charged $98 for a one minute work. I tried to tell him how he was ripping of people. But these are experienced robbers and he wouldn't budge on the price. What a money making scam they have.

Summer has always been very friendly and courteous with me. I know they have had scheduling issues in the past, but they have increased their workforce and have been very attentive to my needs and schedule. The other day after working on my water heater, I called to let them know I was still having some issues. They came out that same day and didn't charge me anything additional because they admitted they should have noticed it during the previous visit. The service employees are very friendly and aren't pushy on parts and service. They make helpful suggestions and offer tips on various home improvements.

Well, I am done with this company.  After being satisfied with their technicians initially, they are an unreliable and disingenuous service company.  My frustrations specically deal with their service plans and scheduling team.  On numerous occassions, I scheduled time away from work only to receive calls that they need to reschedule because they had other jobs go longer.  When dealing with their customer service team, I repeatedly recieved false updates and the run-around about why they could not make their commitment.  Matter of fact, today I had a plumbing service call scheduled for the morning and the HVAC scheduled for the afternoon and neither showed!

Simply put, they do not value customers and will put anything they can ahead of the people of purchased equipment from them and pay for their service plans.

I encourage you to look elsewhere to get reliable service.

I am giving two stars only because I have no problem with the technicians. They are friendly and seem very qualified. I initially called Summer's for a furnace tune-up from a flyer I received. After the tune-up was complete, I was offered a --3 visit a year package deal-- that I was told would make me a priority customer. The first two appointments were performed on time. Since then, I have been anything but a priority customer, as far as appointment are concerned.

The water inspection appointment was scheduled 4 times. The third time, was from 2-4:00. At 4:45 I called and was told I was not on the schedule. So I made a forth appointment. I was promised that they would be at my house first thing at 8:00 am. Being skeptical, I called at 7:30 that morning and was told I was.... NOT ON THE SCHEDULE....Are you kidding me?....After much spewing to the woman on the phone, they arrived at my house at 8:15 am.

I did not get an appointment for a furnace tune-up until January 20 this year. (2014) Since the winter weather arrived in the fall last winter, I was well into the winter getting a tune-up on my furnace.

The A/C tune-up was scheduled for May 6th. (2014) I got a call to confirm a month prior to that date. I got a call to confirm a week prior to that date. I got a call to confirm the day before. (May 5th).......Then I got a call at 4:00pm to tell me a repair had to be done at the time of my appointment and.... We need to reschedule.
I said I would have to call back later. I was so angry.I don't believe I will be rescheduling yet agian. I take time off work in order to be here. It is very costly to me to do that.
But you know what?
It is not this woman's fault on the phone that there are not enough technicians to get the work done. If you do not have enough technicians to cover repairs without cancelling tune-up appointment,,,, hire more.

I don't think I am the only customer who has this problem and I don't think I am the only one who will decide to CancelYou.

Avoid using this company!  They put a quick fix on my plumbing issue and it had to be redone in 3 months.  This cost me additional money to have a ceiling repaired twice because the plumbing was not fixed correctly the first time.  Thank goodness I did not sign up on their package deal!  They need to hire experienced plumbers!

I've had the pleasure of working with Summers 3 times on a home I recently purchased and I'm blown away every time with their professionalism and promptness. My first encounter was a bad valve for the main water line coming into the house. Dustin Scheele was on time, diagnosed it right away and with their upfront pricing schedule, showed me the charge for the repair and had the job completed in no time. Brandon Gillespie came out for my cooling checkup and thoroughly went through my system and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. He's definitely an asset to the company and while I hope to never see him again, it's nice to know that if an emergency pops up, I'll be treated kindly and fairly. I had a plumbing checkup and the field supervisor Jon Taylor came out and again, was very professional and didn't try to up sell me things I didn't need. It's no surprise to me that the supervisors are just as courteous as the technicians. Every phone call, email and visit from Summers has been a pleasant experience and I'm very happy they're close by in case I need them in the future.

They cancelled my appt a couple hours prior to the appointed time (illness of tech.)  I had made this appt. weeks ago, travel most of the time and this was a short window in which I would be home.  Requested they service my AC on Monday - told they were booked, requested they try to reschedule an appt. made for Mon/Tue so they could accommodate me.  Told I understand, but we can't do that  -- They would have had 3 days advance notice for a  reschedule, made with the client themselves.  As we all know, there are many people who are home most of the time and are flexible.    Apparently it is way too much work to attempt to see what could be done and rearrange a schedule.  (I am certainly open to services calling me to see if I can reschedule to help out, or to call if a cancellation has occurred so that I could be covered sooner).  Both phone and chat services were neither understanding, or willing to try to accommodate.  Best offer was 2 weeks out.  As I am on the road for business, have no idea what I will be scheduled to do at that time - that is why I made this appt. so far in advance.

Apparently they have grown so big that loosing a client, with bad feeling, is not a big deal to them.  Somehow, I suspect there is a local company in Columbus that will be more than happy to gain a new client and provide service.

I would give zero stars if it would allow me. Called for emergency service on Sunday, May 8, 2016 was told someone would call me within 30 minutes. That was around 3:57p. Never heard from anyone. Ended up fixing it myself, called them back at 7:59p to provide feedback and cancel my service was only told she would put in a second request to the plumber on call. The operator was professional enough but did not seem bothered in the least about my problems. Would not recommend using this service even in an emergency.

Last July my AC quit working.  I made an appointment with Summers.  They arrived at the scheduled time.  The tech was very personable, neat and professional.  He diagnosed a bad motor run capacitor.  After it was replaced the system tripped due to high pressure. After letting it run manually the pressure checked in range.  The unit has run properly since servicing.  The service cost $206.  The part online costs $10-30.  Considering a 20% mark up on the part the service call cost $166.  Roughly $80 an hour.    Not much different than taking your car to a dealership.

My husband and I will never use Summers again. From the get go in this company you will see frustration. From the receptionists taking the calls to the over the road employees who service your homes. Our issue started 10 days ago with a tennant who had no heat when he turned the furnace on in his home. We, having paid into the priority club called summers. We were told that we needed a new part for the furnace and that it would take about 7-10 days for shipping. We left heaters with our tennant to try to keep him comfortable. We waited, and our tennant waited as well. Day 8 the tennant requested if we knew when the furnace would be fixed. We called summers three times and twice we were told they would call us back after the found where the shipment was. I think I have given this company my cellular number a thousand times and you would think they could get it right, but time after time I have to call back to get the information from them about this part. Day 10 and our tennant is understandably upset and I call three times again and twice again I am told I would receive a call back and never did. When I reached them the third time they told me the part had come in and that they would be sending a tech out as soon as one was available. I informed them that the tennant would be home all day and that they could call him when they headed out. Then I told them that for payment they would have to call my cell phone for payment. The tech was there for five hours to install the part. Then when it was all done, the tech called my husbands cell number not mine as I had requested. My husband owns his own business and was very busy when the call came in so he asked the tech to hold. Summers Tech Chris hung up and called my husband back and was irate demanding payment and cussing my husband out. Very unprofessional. My husband hung up on him and this tech proceeds to call my cell number, where I was unaware of how he had treated my husband, and I paid him. Had I known how rude and disrespectful this tech had been to my husband I would have demanded to talk to his supervisor. I will be trying to get ahold of a much higher ranking PROFESSIONAL within Summers to let them know how their employees are doing. Running a company is not easy on us, but I know for a fact that if my husband's employees ever talked to our clients this way, they would find themselves in the unemployment line faster than you can blink an eye. RESPECT still does exist. Shame on you Chris  I had put up with all of the phone mistakes and wrong findings on Summers behalf, but this will not be tolerated by myself or my husband. Maybe a better filing system would do Summers a lot of good. Too many mistakes to count. Sadly we will no longer be using Summers for our heating and cooling needs. We would never refer a friend or family member to them, or even an acquaintance.

Next day problem still persisted and I called Dial One Hour and WOW, They were able to find the problem which had nothing to do with the furnace itself, but a pipe in the attic had been disconnected. 2 Gallons of water emptied from the furnace later, and the furnace appears to be up and going again. Hour One Heating and Cooling, Friendly, Honest, Quick, Reliable, Easier on your wallet. In the Phone book but if you are frustrated with SUMMERS, Give them a call @ 317-682-1713. Chances are they can correct Summers mistakes. Thank You ONE HOUR!!

Tried to scare my mother into buying a $4,000+ furnace. Her furnace was 7 years old and under warranty. It would have cost us less than $500 in labor to make the repairs. We found out from another service company that nothing was even wrong with her furnace. To top that off, the field supervisor offered a guarantee to give my mother a new furnace if it was determined that nothing was broken. The manager would not make good on this promise. I strongly recommend finding a service company that does not take advantage of the elderly and is true to their word.
