I have had some plumbing issues that required some extensive work. We have a service agreement with Mowery, and would not consider going elsewhere.
I would like to first thank all of the wonderful ladies that answer the phones. I just want you to know that I really appreciate all the appointments that were needed these past couple of weeks.

I also would like to thank Rob S.(he also had another associate with him, but I can't remember his name.) They really helped alleviate the anxiety that I had. We had a leak in the foundation and I was really freaking out. I have never been through anything like this, and they helped me a great deal by explaining the entire process.

I would like to thank plumbers Derek H, and Gary G. You guys had a tough job, but through the entire process, you guys took the time to update me, and while the job was alot of hard work, you guys were so professional and friendly.

This morning was the last part of the repairs. Our kitchen faucet stopped working during the leak. Was told probably sand in the line. We purchased a new one and had it installed by  plumber Corey W.
I was impressed again with another awesome Mowery employee. Corey finished the job quickly and he did an awesome job. He was very professional, and made sure I didn't have to lift a finger when he left. He even made sure the soap dispenser was full! Thank you Corey for being an amazing person and Mowery employee.

Lastly thank you to the owner Chip C. You have an amazing bunch of employees working for you. I am absolutely sure that it is a reflection of the owner.

Do you homework and get multiple quotes from muliple sources.    My water heater broke ....called Mowery for a quote to replace it.   They told me $2700.   The most expensive tank water heater at Home Depot is $1000...so $1700 for two hours of labor?   OJ Simpson's attourney's didnt charge that much.

Went with another plumber who came in $1200 under Mowery's quote.    Noted for future business plans.

I had Mowery install a replacement water heater 4 years ago. It was a costly replacement but I was desperate. A few days ago, the water they installed failed and was leaking water on the floor of my garage. The water heater had a 6 year warranty according to the original invoice. Mowery told me that they would not charge me for the water heater but the warranty did not cover their labor costs. Two plumbers took less than two hours to replace the water heater and they charged me $700 for labor. That's a crappy warranty.

Mowery cares, and it shows from receptionist, to service manager & technicians.  The owner cares about his customers, his employees, and his community.
I never dread having to deal w/ plumbing, heating, or cooling issues.  And, I can trust any recommendations without concerns of scam

We were a long time customer and the current owner is unethical and dishonest. I would warn anyone against using this company.

Had to change my opinion of this company. The initial visit in March of last year was great so I continued to use them but each visit after has been a nightmare! Two months later I called to have a toilet handle that kept sticking that I couldn't fix fixed and it literally took 3 visits to fix a toilet handle! In November I scheduled my yearly maintenance. I've always worked from home so I'm always here. I saw the tech pull up in the driveway, sit for a few minutes, pull out of the driveway, park in front of my neighbors house for a few minutes then drive off. About 30mins later I get a call stating a tech came to my home and I wasn't there which is a complete lie. I still have the office girl's vm.

In January my furnace went out and I didn't want to call them but since they've serviced the unit prior to them lying in Nov I called them again. Long story short, the unit had to be replaced so they replaced it. Spent 12k so it wasn't cheap. I had to call them out to make sure it was set up correctly because IPL advised that my budget billing period had expired and my settle up amount was $1000 and that my usage had increased mid Jan-Mar which of course is the time the new furnace was installed. My yearly usage with IPL is about 1500 or less. I pulled the energy report and it showed my emergency heat was being used and not my heat pump. I recently called this company out to correct the issue and it's still not working despite the tech stating he made adjustments and changed the settings which I don't know why these settings weren't in place before they left in Jan.

At this point I don't want anyone from this company back in my home. I will get another company out to verify if the unit was set up properly since service from them is so hit or miss.  If I'm told it wasn't (which more than likely I will) and they don't reimburse me for the extra expenses I had to incur due to them failing to properly install the unit, I will contact an attorney. I have to question all the positive reviews. My initial contact with them was great, which is probably apart of the plan so they can sell you a service contract.  If real customers continue to use them they will see how much skill they lack and that in the end they will cost you money. Please avoid them and only go with companies that are consistent with their service.

My new furnace went out and I woke up to 59 degrees inside my house. I called Mowery who had recently installed a new furnace for me. Chris ( I didn't get his last name) came and got my furnace running again. He was very professional and friendly. He told me why my furnace went out and what I could do to prevent it from happening again. It ended up being a simple fix that I am glad about.

We bought a house, built in 1961 in Avon in March, and among other things we've discovered as we settle in we found out that we needed a new AC system.  I went with Mowery because I had hired them to fix a gas leak and broken spigot within our first week in the house. As a result of our positive experience with those jobs, we entered into an annual HVAC maintenance contract. When they came out to 'summerize' the AC they determined it wasn't actually cooling (provided all the measurement data, after having us observe what they were looking at).  They gave us several alternative solutions, from a few hundred dollars to thousands. They advised of pros and cons of each, and didn't pressure us one way or the other. We decided to use them to replace both the AC and the furnace with a new system. In doing so, we uncovered one problem after another with this old system...massive water damage and rusting under the furnace, collapsed ducts, disconnected ductwork, smashed ducts, bad drainage. Some of this we knew from the inspection of the house, but some simply would never have been discovered without removing the existing furnace altogether. They addressed one significant issue the first day, and moved things around at their end so they could get all the materials and technicians scheduled to get back and complete the job the next day!  In the meantime, during the morning the first day, just after we had discovered the first issue, the owner drove down to introduce himself and thank us for our business. He was advised of the issue with the rusted metal and ducting under the furnace and got on the phone to arrange materials to be available to address it that morning.  We could have patched up some leaks and added some refrigerant and saved a ton of money, but would have been losing money and energy every month conditioning the air in the crawlspace, not to mention draining water into the that space as well.  The techs are courteous and competent. They didn't flinch when they saw the work that needed to be done, and they've been extremely thorough to ensure a secure working system.  We're pretty happy we went with them for our HVAC needs!

I had Mowery out to the house for a drain clearing of my toilet. They sent the guy same day!  He was great. Since he couldn't fix it (toy stuck), he didn't charge me!  He did offer me the service plan, which I almost bought because at $14/month is a decent deal if you plan to service your AC/Furnace for tune ups in the spring and fall.

Fast forward a couple weeks - my outdoor AC unit wasn't kicking on although the system was calling for air. I did some basic troubleshooting to determine there was no pressure in the lines (it was out of Freon) and most likely had a leak. I called Mowery back (intending to purchase the plan). They pre-called he say before and morning of to let me know their arrival time. So far, so good.

Giss and Jerry arrived on time. After a few minutes they located the leak at the compressor. Giss reported there was a muffler (which threw me off since I have never heard of this and spent a couple years working in HVAC) that went bad. I asked for the part number but he couldn't supply it only stating that it was ordered by his service manager.

Now we have a problem. I was quoted $663 (labor and parts) for a part that cost $21 at the local supply house.  This was a 2 hour replacement from start to finish. There was an additional $446 to replace the 9 lbs of Freon from the unit. $50/lb of Freon!?  That's DOUBLE what the 1st company I called charges!!

Because they had a service plan option, I could save the equivalent of $100 on the $1000 bill. NEVER. Never would I purchase a contract with a company that would price gauge someone to this extent. I'm completely amazed that someone would have the gall to look me in the face and tell me that a $350 job is going to cost me $1000 then expect me want to use them for all of my future service needs. No F-ING way. I ended up paying for $85 for the service call - which provided me the insight of the bad $20 part.

Before you decide to use this company - they have coupons all the time in the money mailer and junk mail - take it from someone in the service industry. This company doesn't care about you. They just want your contract and credit card number.

What a scam!  Beware!

I was happy with Mowery for a couple of years renewing a service contract for our furnace and air conditioner.  But the last visit was the last. The service tech aggressively convinced us to switch out the factory drain on our new water heater for a ball valve type explaining all of the sediment would be drained during annual maintenance.   He charged us over $200 for a $15 valve that we later found out from the manufacturer we didn't need.  I also didn't like how he tore off the factory tag attached to the pop off valve saying it wasn't dependable.   The pop off valve was replaced unessicarily.

I've had service contracts with several different companies over the last few years. About a year ago I had a leak coming through the ceiling in my kitchen. I got in touch with Mowery through a frantic search on Home Advisor. From the leak repair, to regular tune ups, and even some additional plumbing repairs -- everyone from Mowery has been great to work with.

As a female homeowner, I have found it challenging to find companies for home repairs that are honest and not going to try the up-sell. I've never had that experience with Mowery. They come for the work, do what was requested, and explain the work that was done. I recently increased my service contract from the basic HVAC to now also include the water heater and gas fireplace. I highly recommend getting a service contract. It covers annual tune-ups, but also ensures a discount on service. It pretty much pays for itself. If you're in the Indy area, I highly suggest using Mowery for HVAC and plumbing needs.

I honestly can't say enough good things about these folks. Had an emergency call to have them come out to get a washcloth that got flushed down my toilet...don't ask. All thier techs are just so courteous and they go above and beyond to make sure your home is cleaner when they left than when they got there. When I think of Plummer's I usually don't think Gentleman but every single of of these guys fits that bill. And thier good at thier jobs. Today I found out why. Two plumbers came to the house and it was obviously a training run for the younger guy. The better was mentoring and coaching the whole time.

I had 2 different technicians at my house over the last 3 weeks.
We will be remodeling and need a temp fix for air conditioning.
The 1st tech was professional and told me that the unit needed charged  cause it was froze up.
Very well,
he charged unit up and got me to get a yearly service agreement.
Got that.
A week and a half later on a Saturday the unit froze up again. We apparently have a leak. Technician arrived and he moved right to a replace conversation and tried to bypass any inspection on leak detection or to replace. He stated that I could be wasting alot of money on detection to maybe not be able to fix.
So I had him charge it up again.
I had salesman come to house and look at drawings of our remodel and as he was looking over system he had apparently took a competitors magnet off my dryer and replaced it with 2 mowery magnets. He then approached and stated he collected magnets. But after confronting company it is a way for them to take the other competitors magnets.

You don't have to take my magnet then ask for it.
Not trusting.
It is unprofessional.

We were paying for the Annual Service Plan. Last Oct they called to schedule the furnace check before winter. I called Mowery in June to see when they would be doing the AC check. I was told I'd be given a call when they started scheduling. Never heard from them. Last week (Aug) our AC went out. We were charged over $1100 to fix it and they sent a salesman out to try to sell us a new Lennox AC starting at $10,000. My husband is a Director if Facilities and knows HVAC systems. There are other systems (Bryant, Carrier, Trane) which are all just as good and significantly cheaper. But we didn't need a new unit, 2 lines rubbed together and the refrigerant leaked. If they would've done the yearly check it all could've been avoided. I spoke with a manager named Jeremy who acted like my concerns and irritation with their service was invalid. They obviously do not care about their customers and we're only concerned about the profit. I will NEVER use Mowery again. Very unprofessional to try to sell us something we didn't even need. Guess they thought they were dealing with people that didn't have HVAC knowledge.

As a follow up to an earler review my blower was out on my air. After having someone else install a new unit i had the company test the blower off the old unit ( this is the main reason I replaced the unit) and it is now an expensive fan in my garage because it works fine.

My air conditioning went out late on a Saturday night. Mowery came over on a Sunday to fix it, and didn't charge as much as another company that I called. Turns out I needed a new a/c unit, and Mowery came out the next day to go over all options with me. I worked with Jay, who was extremely polite, professional, and took the time to explain what was wrong, and how they could fix it. I never felt pressured, and Jay was honest and suggested a lower-priced option that would better suit my needs. The unit was installed a few days later, and the entire process was efficient and as pleasant as it could be. Mowery has tons of experience, a great staff, and an A grade on Angie's List. I will definitely call them in the future for their services.

We have had a service contract Mowery for our company's HVAC, since 2012.  We will be looking to switch, as the service has gone downhill.  I was recently contacted about scheduling our tune up service, so I called the person back to review the two dates that were provided.  I was directed to a mailbox, completely different than the person I asked for.  A second call was made, and the rude person in the office acted like I made the dates up, as they were booked, and the next available dates were a month out.  After offering two other dates, both Saturday's I asked for her to figure it out and call me back.  She didn't, and a follow up email was required to secure a date, but the rude response was unnecessary.  We'll be using someone else once our contact ends in January.

My sewer pipe was clogged with tree roots. A guy came and cleared the line that night and another man was scheduled to come with a camera the following day. The next day the water was again not draining and instead pouring through my outside clean out. I called and was told the guy would come with the camera. He came and said he couldn't get the camera in more than two feet. Then he tells me that I need to replace the entire pipe all the way to the main sewer line. He quotes me $14K and quickly tries to get me to finance a loan. I cannot afford $14K let alone the payments that would come with a loan for that amount!
I called another company and they came out jetted the line then the next day ran a camera to pin point where the roots were. They used a special cutting tool and cut out the roots and made sure the line was clear. They told me to use copper sulfate in the pipes a couple times a year to kill any roots that might get back in. Total charge $500
I cannot help myself but think Mowery was trying to get me to spend the most money possible for something that didn't have to be done right away. I can't imagine how many people have been taken advantage.
When in doubt, get a second opinion

Had plumber come to give an estimate for a bathroom upgrade.  Estimate was 3x higher than other estimates given, plumber was not very professional, spent half his time trying to up-sell me on unneeded services, and then charged me an $85 service call for the estimate.  No mention of a service call charge was made when I made the appointment.  Will definitely not use them for this or future jobs.

I had an appointment scheduled between 12p-6p. At 5p, I called to verify they were still coming. The lady I talked to said I wasn't on their call log for the service for that day. I explained that I called two days prior and scheduled the appointment. I explained that this was in regards to selling my house and I was needing it done that day. She apologized and said she would be able to send someone out that same day even though it was late. Literally 3 minutes later she called back and said that she found me on their call list for today and I was called twice earlier in the day to let me know they had technicians available. I told her that I didnt receive any phone calls. I further explained that sometimes my phone goes straight to voicemail and that could have been the problem. She then stated that they didnt have anyone available to come out. My guess is that since it was deemed my fault, even though it was  a technology issue, the technician then had available suddenly became unavailable. Poor customer service. Will no longer use them for my service needs.

We used them to replace our main sewer line.
Reasons we chose them:
1) Local business
2) Timely estimate
3) Competitive Estimate
4) They gave us a decent timeline
5) Professional presence when on site before job started.

Reasons we will NEVER use them again:
1) Didn't get started on time and then ran weeks over schedule.
2) Ran into an unforeseen issue (the shed was there the whole time, not sure how it surprised them) that caused them to almost double the estimate (or they could have just filled it in and left it disconnected).
3) Left a sink hole in my back yard and pulled an old gas line out of my foundation wall that caused significant basement flooding. It took them weeks to get back out to address both issues.
4) Before I even had a final signed invoice in-hand, they were hounding me to push financing through.
5) The crew ran over my garden and destroyed multiple small trees while leaving ruts all over my yard. They also shattered glass panes for my raised beds and dragged glass shards all over my yard. When I asked them what they were going to do about it, they told me there's nothing that they can do.

Save yourself some frustration and go with some real pros anywhere else.

They will do unnecassary repairs or tell you your system needs replaced.  They are highly unethical in thier business practices.  I was a faithful customer for 12 years (9 years of which was before the current owner bought it) but the owner for the roughly 10 years has made it a a truly fraudulent company.  They did a repair i felt was overprice and i checked with Chip the owner and another company and they both said while the part was cheap it took several man hours to properly install it,  This was due to re balancing the air flow in the system.  Ok I now understand the 6 to 8 hours of labor they are saying as it requires 2 guys 3 to 4 hours to complete.  Day of install 1 guy shows up slaps on the part in and out in less than 30 Minutes.  No air balancing or anything I called and ask what happened and was told he must have gotten it done fast.  I then requested a refund for the extra labor charge and was told they could not do that as its based on an average time to install.  My point is it was not installed properly as per what I was told By Chip the owner and another company.  I would be very worried if you have them out.  If they tell you you need a new system as the told my neighbor I would get a second opinion.  They called for a second opinion from a competitor and a $175 repair later their system is still working great 3 years later.  Sure beat the $6,000 quote from Mowey.  I hear more and more horror stories and feel people should know and be advised.

We used them because the previous owners of the house had a prepaid service check up scheduled. The call should have been free, but the tech managed to con my wife out of $50 for a new filter on the AC. Two days later, my AC goes out...how convenient for them. My wife calls them, since they were just there and they should know if something looked wrong with the unit at the time, they came out within the hour. Tech was nice, and seemed knowledgeable. He proceeded to find a bad capacitor, which had melted down in the 2 days since the last tech was there. He replaced the capacitor and charged me $249.79...but he was nice enough to knock off the service charge!!! I looked up what a capacitor would cost if I bought it myself...around $50-$70 for the exact part! Unreal, I know you have to pay for the service and convenience, but come on, really, almost $200 over? I was tricked into using them once, but never again. I have a call into the general manager to complain, we'll see if he ever does. I will update this post if he happens to.  The whole experience seemed very shady. Highly unrecommended.

Was a loyal customer for 18 years but the new owner does not care about the customers or his business.  He does not return phone calls, way over charges for services and does not stand behind any of the work he does.  It is sad this WAS a good company.

I really wouldn't go with these guys and I'm a little late with this review.  My furnace went out last year in January and we had an emergency situation.  The guy that showed up was nice and went down and poked around for around fifteen minutes and then comes up and proceeds to tell me that my gas valve is faulty and needs to be replaced and my heat ex-changer (I do believe is what he said) is cracked and needs to be replaced.  Well over a thousand dollars is what was quoted and I was advised to just seek out a whole new unit and that someone would call me with that information.  I told him I wanted a second opinion and that I would get back with him.  The other company that I had called never showed up so I went and got a few infared heaters and I had a few heaters and went with that for several weeks.  My ex husband, who does heating and air among other things for his job, got some time to come by and look at the furnace and it ended up being one part that needed to be changed out and guess what?  It was less than a $100 fix.  I don't like repair companies that know that people have their backs against the wall and need a fix at the time and they lie about what is really wrong to get more money out of the call.  Either this guy didn't know what he was doing or he was trying to make more money for himself or the company, either way it was obviously a misleading assessment and I would get a second and third opinion before going with this company.
