This electrician co. in the past 9 years provided us high-quality service. Today they may be using contract workers due to high demand. This led to a near-amateur bathroom fan replacement job.
A good job is 1. measure space 2. determine correct fixture 3. make second visit with correct fixture & install it in 1-2 hours.
Bad job: 1. tell the owner "I got one on the truck" 2. spend two+ hours trying to make the wrong fixture fit, 3. charge another hour to get one that fits, 4. charge the owner for the wasted hours.
and wow, Burtner allowed $200 off their bill of, guess again, $907 (the fan cost $260)

Burtner used to be a 1st Class and highly responsive organization. Not anymore.

A Burtner employee (licensed electrician??) ) is the only service provider of any type who has ever used the "F-bomb" with me and on my own property. Thankfully, we had several security cameras operating at the time. You might not be as fortunate.

Neither David Burtner nor anyone on his team has followed-up to learn more about this crazy incident or to apologize.

Buyer beware.

I used them in the past and the work was sloppy. The crew argued with each other. I had to call them out to fix issues and they were not happy. I have since used other electricians and had excellent experiences.

Burtner Electric has been my go-to company for our electrical needs since 2004.  Unfortunately, that is no longer true.  I recently had them in for two minor changes, which turned into major efforts. Instead of an hour long job costing a couple hundred dollars, their electrician spent 4.5 hours at my home and left me with drywall damage so excessive I am horrified.  I spoke with the owner about the issue, and she seemed apologetic and assured me they would come up with a "fair" bill.  However, I received a bill for over $700 and the threat of collection if I didn't pay.  Burtner indicated that I had agreed to the drywall damage.  Who would do that?  Wow.  Never again will I use Burtner, and you shouldn't either.

I left two voice mail messages for them to schedule service and never heard back from them. I ended up calling Ashbaugh Electric in Westfield & got right through. They were able to take care of my service needs within 3 days and did great work.

I'm the owner of a commercial building and my salon client needed new electrical and lighting...  Owner /Electrician and staff did not communicate clearly, as a result  A complete month has gone by and now we start over with a new company.
Our experience was extremely poor !

This is not a dependable company and I question competence.  I'll be a little detailed so you don't make the same mistake I made.  Besides from being a lawyer, I've been a licensed general contractor in my past life.  One thing I don't mess with is electric.  I only know enough to burn my house down.  The owner of Burtner seems to be a likable fellow and he bids each project.  I hired Burtner because he was the electrician used by the builder when I bought my current house in Carmel.  Last year I hired him to put a light over my pool table.  I specifically told Burtner that I would not move the table and they would have to use scaffolding.  He said it would not be a problem.  A few months later his employee showed up and appeared not to know what he was supposed to do (Yes their appointments are months out). I told him and he said he knew nothing about scaffolding and he would have to speak with his boss.  I told him not to stand on my pool table. I come down an hour later and this 300 lb man is standing on my pool table and actually says to me "your table is creaking." I told him to get off the table. I called the company informed them what the guy had done and that he just needed some simple scaffolding maybe using a ladder.  It's only then did he do that.  Why would he stand on a pool table? Why didn't he know how to use scaffolding?

I'm not sure why but I hired Burtner again to put in electric for a mini split for a room I was finishing.  Again-I had to wait 3 months for an appointment.  Even after project was bid- employees came out and asked me what they were supposed to be doing.  I couldn't imagine showing up for a job not knowing exactly what I was supposed to do.  Is there no communication or preparation in this company? I had been hanging drywall all morning and stopped what I was doing to explain and they looked at me as if I was from outer space. If you claim to have been in the business for 20 years, how come they don't know how to put electric in for a mini spIit?  It's northern Indiana for God's sake.  I called the heating guy and had them speak with him and they still didn't know how to put at 240 v 30 amp line in.  People on the google reviews have stated that he maybe hiring non electricians. I don't know whether that's true or not or maybe these were journeymen.  They booked without doing a thing and I then rescheduled the appointment and they re- bid the job because apparently prices went up by 50% over the last 5 months.   The owner specially asked the heating guy to be present when they did the job and he agreed.  Do you know how hard it is to schedule two different companies to show up the same time? The day before the appointment I called Burtner and confirmed the appointment.  Later that afternoon Burtner cancelled because it was too cold (it was over 32 degrees and they were doing little or no outside work). When I told my heating guy, who would have been doing most of the work outside, why the appointment was cancelled, he couldn't stop laughing about "this generation."  We set another appointment and i again confirmed the day before.  30 minutes before start time Burtner again cancelled due to a snow storm expected later that evening.   This is a 3 hour job at most and was scheduled to begin at 830 am, there is still no snow on the ground at 5 pm.  I don't think this company really gives a hoot.  It's time is more important than yours.  When companies like this eventually fail, they start blaming the Chinese or Mexicans without taking an introspective look at their own behavior. Another day, another sucker (like me). Go with another company even if it costs you a little more. You will save time and headache.

They are a scammers.  They left my home with damage I had to have another real electrician fix.  
They changed 118 an hour for a non licensed electrician to leave my house in horrible condition.  Then they changed me AGAIN to come back..

Avoid these folks if you valve honesty and your wallet

Came to fix underground wire. Said it was fixed & two hours later it didn't work. Called immediately. Took two months to come back out. Said they had fixed it, became rude, and left. Still not fixed.

I had a table lamp that didn't work correctly any longer. I found out about Burtner Electric and called and the lady who answered was very nice and customer service-oriented to me. (This was during Coronavirus shutdown.) They had a system whereby I could call them when I was in their parking lot. I dropped off the lamp and they had it fixed in a reasonable time and for a very reasonable cost. They were really great to work with! I would definitely do business with them again.

My wife owns a pottery business and sells at local art fairs in & around Indianapolis & Burtner Electric does the electrical setup for these events.  They are great to work with, people are friendly, responsive and do great work on these large commercial jobs as well as residential.  Would highly recommend Dave and the Burtner Electric team for any electrical work you need done.  Jeff Bell

I have used Burtner Electric numerous times and continue to do so as they are affordable, knowledgeable and efficient.   I have recommended them to neighbors and friends  numerous times.   I recently purchased a new home and needed four ceiling fans installed, outlets put into my garage and a disposal installed.   THree weeks later and everything is working great!   MY technician was polite and cleaned up and disposed of all the boxes from the fans.   I love supporting small and local businesses in my community.

Not licensed electricians. They can't ever seem to pass inspections.    Never use this place.  According to the State of Indiana there is no record of the them being licensed, Angie's list said the same.  Many people don't ask but get proof before use them
