SAFE Electrical Service

If there is one thing I hate, it's finding a contractor to do some work. Well, I won't have to look for an electrician again. From the very start of this process, it was top notch. Noelle and Charles are awesome to work with. Polite, professional and great communication. I wanted a ceiling fan installed, an outlet on my patio and the electric in my garage updated. Charles came out and walked the different parts of the project and gave me 3 options after pointing out other things that needed repaired or things I didn't think of. On the day the work was to be done, Charles showed up with his crew and they were a great bunch of guys. I had guys in a bedroom, guys in the basement, in the yard and in the garage. I didn't have a care in the world. They all tended to their part of the project and were very professional. When they were done, the clean up was top notch. You couldn't even tell they were there. Charles made sure I was happy with everything they did. I even threw a couple of last minute changes at them, they made them without blinking an eye. I contacted them a while back looking to get a quote for future renovations on my home. The electrician that showed up was a bit late (he called to let me know,) but courteous, knowledgeable & walked through everything that I wanted, explaining what was feasible & his thoughts. This took maybe 15-20 minutes. He left me his card & said he will get back to me with a quote in a few days, but right before he left he made sure to make a comment questioning how I would pay for all of the work which was odd. I never heard from them again.

I figured the list of things needed some time to quote out & it was no rush so I gave them a few weeks... still no quote. I started emailing & called specifically stating that they didn't need to quote out every little detail... just give me a ballpark estimate based on their previous experience in-order to make it much easier on them...the lady over the phone I believe said they don't do ballpark estimates...ok. It was weird since it's not like an estimate is legally binding & set in stone. Weeks turned into months into years...nothing. I gave up a long time ago on getting that quote from them.

A year or so later something happened that exposed & shorted out some wiring in a wall. I sent SAFE a message letting them know the situation & if they could send someone out as soon as they could since it was a serious fire hazard...crickets. I assume they either don't like money or don't want me as a customer even though I've literally done nothing to deserve the silent treatment.

Luckily other electricians reached out & fixed my issue as well as got me some ballpark figures on the work I was looking to get done.

I had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Charles and Safe Electrical.

First off, Noelle (who took my call, scheduled my estimate, confirmed my appointment, and followed up with me throughout) was great! Friendly, prompt, and professional.

I had them out to give me an estimate on installing 3 ceiling fans (2 outdoor with no existing electrical hookup, and on inside), and install 2 outdoor cameras.  On the day of the estimate, Charles came out on time and walked my property with me while talking me through the plan. He also noticed some additional things he suggested to me could be done around the house.  He gave me 3 estimates in 3 budget ranges and I chose what was best for me.

The work was completed on time, and his team has AMAZING customer service skills.  I will not ever use another electrician, and would HIGHLY recommend Charles and his crew to anyone looking for a reliable electrician with a focus on customer service.

I originally hired Safe Electrical Service 3.5 years ago to preform an electrical inspection on  a home I was considering purchasing. Charles Ottsott was extremely professional and knowledge. When we ended up buying another house we had him preform the electrical inspection on that as well and he helped us determine that the home needed new wiring throughout and updated electrical panel. We eventually hired Safe Electrical to rewire our entire house, install all new devices and fixtures, and upgrade to 200 Amp service with new circuit breaker panel. His entire team was extremely friendly, professional, knowledgeable, clean and organized. They properly protected all surfaces and respected our time and property. I work in the home remodeling business so I deal with contractors and service providers all the time and Safe Electric is one of the best companies I have had the pleasure working with. Their work passed all city inspections. I will use  them on all future  electrical projects.

Charles and his crew were fantastic. We purchased a house that passed inspection but ended up having significant and dangerous electrical issues. The team spent a day and a half essentially rewiring the house. They were courteous, considerate, detail-oriented, professional, communicative, and most importantly, they saved us from a potentially devastating situation.

The small things make the difference between service and service excellence. Charles had to make an opening in the cabinet above our refrigerator (there was no alternative), explained it thoroughly before it was done, patched it beautifully, and even fixed the trim that our contractors hadn't properly nailed into the cabinet. They not only completely protected our floors but also cleaned up any errant salt from the snow outside. These small things really impressed me after months of renovations and wildly different experiences with other service providers.

This is a highly specialized skill and you get what you pay for. SAFE's services were worth every penny and we won't hesitate to use them again in the future.

They did a great job on a small project I had, even accepted a big change late in the game. They are total pros, definitely not on the cheaper side, but excellent quality and customer service. I'd consider using them again.

From start to finish, working with Safe Electrical was an excellent experience.  The wonderful scheduling and customer service from Noelle assured me that we were making the right choice. Danny and the crew fixed and replaced a bedroom light, installed a ring front door camera, installed two kitchen lights and raised the electrical wires coming into our house to make them up to code. Would highly recommended their services!

I have never written a bad review: I hate posting this. My recent experience was so negative I feel responsible to share: After 4 years of trusting Safe Electric to be honest & fair with pricing and work quality, I now realize that the work they did in my home was sloppy, not done to prevailing best practices, and extremely overpriced.  I was a good reliable customer and deferred to Safe's advice for years; after all, Charles took advantage of my trust and way over-estimated a large project which had to be completed by another electrician.
*** My advice: while SAFE ELECTRIC may be fine for routine things, if you are doing a larger job: get another estimate!! When I alerted the owner about my concern he just got mean, pushed back and became a bully!  I did not deserve the extra aggravation.
I have since worked with much more honest, decent, professional, creative, careful and SAFE local electricians.

Prompt response and very friendly, detailed and educational to boot! Haven't had to actually hire them yet but looking forward to future projects once this crazy pandemic year is behind us.

My parents, who are in their 70's called them to replace 3 outlets.  They also asked for them to check the power to their refrigerator.  These guys quoted them $725.  They replaced the 3 outlets, and were out the door in under 1 hour.  GFCI outlets are about $25 each.  So the remining $650 was charged for labor, for less than 1 hour.  They took advantage of senior citizens.  They literally just left my parents house 5 minutes ago.  I'm furious.

Prob the most thorough and plain speaking outfit of this sorts I've dealt with. Did the job in & out same day no troubles no worries would definitely repeat. 5stars

Professional and fast service at a great price.  The technician explained what needed to be done and came out and completed the work.  I would highly recommend Safe Electrical Service for all of your electrical needs.

I had the guys out to upgrade some fabric wiring in our new home. They came in did a great job, cleaned up afterward and addressed our needs for our first phase. They even offered to repaint where they had to get to the wiring from our freshly painted walls.

The second phase included addressing a new problem and hanging some lighting fixtures. The guys were extremely patient, mindful (removing shoes), gave me great tips, and were super helpful and thorough. They addressed all my needs and got done ahead of schedule.

They espouse the family like-locally run kind of feel and all my calls are returned promptly. I am always satisfied with the work and the guys always go above and beyond. If its piece of mind you want - then call Safe electrical.

I had a terrific experience with this company. I left a message and received a call back in less than 24 hours. I was able to schedule a convenient appointment. The serviceman showed up on time and offered a reasonable quote for the service. He was able to get the job down in a timely fashion which was very helpful due to travel plans. This company is professional, the work is of great quality and I'm already making plans to call them again for more work that I need completed.

Contacted Safe Electrical for a quote on work in my home. Seeing as they state they serve the Chicago area, like most other businesses, you would they service Northwest Indiana or would state that they don't on their website.  Left them my phone number and email for contact information. Rather than contact me that way, they went through message area of YELP to say they don't service Indiana. That information should be on the website as Northwest Indiana is considered the Chicago metro area.

Great experience working with Charles and SAFE Electrical.  The guys showed up on time, communicated what was needed clearly, and finished the job very quickly.  

I will definitely be using them for all my future electrical needs.

My power partially went out in our house this week and did not come back on even when I flipped the breakers.  I was afraid it was a very serious electrical problem and looked up the closest electrician to our house in Midlothian.  I called Safe Electrical and Charles answered.  

He came out same day and arrived earlier, after calling.  

It turned out it was a connection from the power line to our home that was corroded from age.  He replaced it within an hour and the price was very fair.  Charles seemed like a very friendly, honest family person and was also very professional.  We were impressed with the service and his professionalism.

I've never before called an electrician and will be sure to keep his card handy for recommendations and if electrical service is needed again.

Our family has had a wonderful experience with Safe Electrical! We've had everything done with them big and small, from re-wiring our entire house, to swapping out light fixtures and light switches. They are so professional, polite, always on time, cleanup after themselves, and do a great, trustworthy job. We will never call another electrician again - Charles and his team are the best.

Needed a brand new electrical panel in my house and Charles came out and gave me a quote. The quote wasn't too high and wasn't to cheap but if you want something done right it's always good to pay someone who knows what they are doing over someone who gives you the cheapest deal. Charles and his team came out and installed a new panel and the work so far is great. I will definitely contact Charles and his team in the near future for any other electrical work I may need.

Great experience!  My call was answered the very first time I dialed, my need was well understood, and an appointment was scheduled right away.  Charles came out, gave me a reasonable estimate and in no time, he and his colleague came out and installed my basement outlets (I needed a both a 220 and a standard 120 outlet).  Very courteous, high-quality service - I highly recommend Safe Electrical.

A for reliability--on time service as scheduled.  I got my furnace switch repaired.  That and a pull chain light reconnection cost $313 for less than an hour's work.  

Got a quote of $2300 for other work of tracing a short and miscellaneous switchout of two recently done lines from the yellow, plastic or rubber type to the encased metal lines--and the walls are open.  

That quote is more than the price for a total upgrade or other major work.

We had Safe Electrical Service out to do some upgrades recently.  We were very pleased with the service we received. We wanted several things done but were unsure about which to do first. Charles broke down the work into three proposals which made it easier for us to decide, based on our budget and needs. He also helped identify some safety issues with the current wiring and load panel, which we had him correct.  His crew are all very professional and highly skilled. They did an amazing job installing recessed LED ceiling lights as well as extra outlets, dimmers, the circuit breaker panel, and even helped troubleshoot an issue we had with our rec room wiring. Safe Electrical Service is our go-to electrician from here on out! Thank you Charles!!!

Safe Electric was a great choice. They may have saved our lives. We had an unsafe electrical box that had been recalled years ago and we did not know it. Plus they found other issues. Charles,  Alex and the other electrician were professional and courteous. I would recommend them to anyone.

Spoke to Charles and though he didn't visit, he advised that I call my supplier ComEd and have them check their service before he comes out. He mentioned that my supplier will come out free of charge to conduct a check.
He was considerate in trying to save me money. As he said, they came by an hour later and checked and discovered the problem was on their end as he predicted. The meter was displaying an error.

I found this company on Yelp, and called because of the high ratings, Charles was amazing! I told him my problem, and he suggested that I call ComEd, Bam problem fixed. His communication with me was awesome, this is, now, my go to company for electrical needs. Thanks again.

We had a new panel installed in our garage (100 amp) and had our main panel (which was over-filled) split into two panels. This involved running new wires in conduit, as well as new circuits added to the kitchen. Safe Electrical did a fantastic job. They started when they said they would and finished on time for the price they quoted. After the initial work was completed they followed up to make sure we were happy with everything. We can now run the refrigerator and the microwave at the same time and our oven no longer causes the lights to flicker. This was not an easy job as the path to the garage required a creative approach. The first contractor we contacted declined due to the difficulty, but Safe Electrical found a way to get it all done and on budget.

We have been dealing with an on-going issue impacting our electric fuse box. We contacted no fewer than five different electric companies with no response before we were given the name of Safe Electrical. Charles, the owner, was wonderful in returning calls throughout this entire process. Alex was the electrician he sent out to look over our dilemma and he was very personable and professional. After getting their advice and their estimate we went ahead with the project. They communicated with us during the entire time and even contacted the City of Naperville for us when we ran into a stumbling block. Alex was on time, prepared with all the necessary materials and worked diligently to help solve our problem. We couldn't be happier. This is a company I wish other businesses used as a model when providing service. A big thank you to Alex and Charles at Safe Electrical.

They sent Alex who I caught going through some personal property in an area he had no business being. He isn't trustworthy and I would suggest that you follow him everywhere throughout your home or business. I made the mistake of leaving him alone for 5 mins and he was rummaging  through my things, and when I caught him in the act he act as though I didn't see what I just saw.

I was able to get another company out to my house (Next Level Electrical) yesterday and was able to pin point the issue within 15 minutes of looking around the house and not just at the box. Turns out it all had to do with some faulty wiring and connections near the circuit box.

Called these guys with an issue, got an immediate response and an appointment for two days later. A gentleman came out and offered a cheaper and much less time consuming fix and it's been working beautifully! They even took the time to send a thank you note for choosing them. Really stand up guys and I highly recommend calling them

YES, I would call them again. A human answered the phone  on a holiday. Tech was here the next morning. Quality diagnosis & service, quick response, personable, dog friendly, reasonably priced.

First of all,  it's nice to deal with a company that actually answers the phone,  and doesn't let everything go to voicemail. I talked Charles on Friday,  and set up an appointment for Tuesday.  Alex was pleasant and efficient.  He very quickly replaced two 50+year old wall switches,  and addressed a couple of other concerns.  He was here and gone in 15 minutes.  I wouldn't hesitate to call Safe Electrical again.

I really recommend Safe Electrical Service. They had to dig a new pipe to the garage to have a 40amp plug for the juicebox (charger) for my electrical car. They did an awesome and super professional job.

Contracted Charles based on Yelp reviews.  We needed a gas & electric fueled stove installed which required switching a hardwired setup to a plug-in.  We called on Saturday, he was out and job was completed Monday morning.  Not only did he do the wiring, he moved the gas pipe and patched the hole in the floor left by the previous unit's downdraft unit.  Friendly, professional, and trustworthy.

Before I called this company for service I reviewed all the reviews on Yelp and reviewed their webpage. There are a few reasons that I called them; they provide volunteer services to animals and children, and the positive reviews. When I vet companies for service I always make a note of how they talk to me, do they use big words related to their work or do they break it down in simple terms. I also make note on if they're douchy because they're talking to a woman, are they pushy? do they look annoyed when I ask questions? and how passive are they with their answers. I am forgetting the young gentleman's name that came to my home for an estimate but he was great at explaining the situation and solution to me. He wasn't pushy or passive when providing answers. He was respectful, calm and business like. I was satisfied with the estimate and the time it would take to do the work. I requested service on the spot! When he was onsite to do the work he was quick and cleaned up after himself. I'm giving this company 5 stars for professionalism. The company provides a warranty for their work for up to one year. I haven't had any issues and I don't expect any. Thank you! I've got larger projects I am planning for, please expect a call!

Charles provided a much needed estimate for a home that we are under contract on in the Beverly neighborhood. He was beyond thorough in his review of the home and the estimate he provided. Charles and his team did a remarkable job reconfiguring our kitchen electrical system. They also removed a few outlets, and installed some light fixtures. Very professional service, and reasonably priced.

We have had several great experiences working with Charles and Safe Electrical.  He has done considerable work inside and outside of our home and has always been prompt, honest and efficient.  He has gone out of his way to make sure we got what we were looking for in every job and was amazingly clean and neat in his execution.  He gave us competitive bids on each job but provided extra value each time, whether it was re-seeding grass that he had to dig up outside or revisiting/rescheduling when we discovered some of our lights for installation where broken from the manufacturers.  I would highly recommend them for any inside/outside job you have.
