Zed Electric is a highly reliable resource in San Diego. We recommend them to the Landlords and Home Sellers we service. Their prices tend to be a bit higher. We are fine with that. You get what you pay for.

We also use Zed to repair/upgrade our personal residences and investment properties. Personally, an electrician installed our outdoor TV. My kids use it frequently and I'm delighted to have them outside playing in the sunshine instead of sitting inside watching TV.

Zed Electric is very very expensive. Zed electric charged $240 an hour. We had plugs that didn't work in one room. For an hour the guy looked around the one room opening different plugs but couldn't find the GFI. Finally he went into the breaker and realized that there was a GFI somewhere in that room. I had to go and help him find it. Otherwise he would have charged another hour. After an hour and 15 min, at my suggestion he had no choice but look where I thought the GFI was and there it was. He told us we had to change the GFI because once they start tripping they are a goner. So it cost us $300 labor for a$25 part. Crazy expensive.

Have been using them over 20 years and am thankful to have trustworthy electricians at their company. Will be having them back to do more work as our schedule allows. Are you kidding me? I haven't reviewed Zed Electric? Shame on me.

I started working for my company as the Office Manager some 9 years ago. This means that I became responsible for all of the vendors that it takes to run a building. This included janitorial, landscaping, filtered water, office supplies, plumbing, maintenance, etc. I also became responsible for making sure the building was compliant and safe. Well, I fired and replaced all of them because they were too costly or just didn't adequately do the work.

Except Zed Electric. The company had already been working with Zed when I got here and I have found no reason to replace them. They respond quickly to my requests for quotes and even though my internal policy requires me to get two other quotes from two other companies, Zed always get the job.

When compare the price, which is not only competitive but reasonable, to the quality of the work on the many projects I have had them do over the years..... shhhhhh. I've gotten lower bids but I always choose Zed because I know it will only have to be done once. I chose the lowest bid once and, well, Zed had to fix it. Meaning I had to pay twice.

I don't even have to ask if the job they are doing is up to code. As a matter of fact, I choose Zed because I want to make sure that it is. I just don't need the headache.

Outside of the quality and safety compliance of their work, the fact that no job is too big or too small for them is priceless. I have had them to replace all of my high ceiling lighting with more economical options to putting in a dimmer switch to installing a smoke detector for my elevator. They do all jobs with the same level of professionalism. This includes looking the part. All of the electricians I have had in my buildings, yes, I have moved locations and still use Zed in my second location, have always looked professional. Not suit and tie professional, but their shirts are always clean and tucked when the get here. Not always after they leave though. Lol.

Zed Electric was professional, knowledgeable, prompt, organized and fairly priced. We wanted a 30 amp line brought through our attic for an induction cooktop. Zed was one of six companies giving us quotes. The range of prices and professionalism was astounding. Zed was a clear stand out from the rest. Their estimator and electricians anticipated issues we hadn't considered and others hadn't noticed, for example getting a 40 amp line wasn'tmuch more and allowed any cooktop to be used in the future. Before the electricians started the work, they reviewed the full plan and asked questions to be sure we were in agreement on the scope - very professional. They were on time to appointments and kept the work site clean when they left. The whole experience reassured us we made the right choice picking them.

Another great find from Yelp. We hired Zed to fix multiple electrical issues in our new house and to install outlets and some outdoor lighting (light strip over our garage) and two gate lights.

We scheduled for an estimate where Matt came over for a pandemic safe in-house estimate. Matt said he had been an electrician for over 20-30 years and now only does estimates, but his previous experience really informed him on the scope and cost of work.

We had things we had to fix and then a few wish list items, and Zed kindly broke down line by line how much each thing would cost. We did most of the items on the list, and did some of it ourselves.

Chris came over and installed everything to perfection over about 3 days (this was a bigger job).

We are so happy with the quality of service we received here and will call them up should any electrical issues arise.

ZED Electric was highly recommended to us by other industry professionals and they did not disappoint. The quality of their work and level of service was truly professional.
We had several electrical updates to conduct in our home, including installation and wiring for an EV charger. They conducted a thorough assessment and gave us a very reasonable estimate for the work. When the technicians arrived (Travis and Sean), it was clear they were subject matter experts, well trained, polite and highly professional. They completed the work on time and within the estimate we had been given (i.e. there were no surprises).

I searched for a while to find a trustworthy electrician to perform the work I needed done. When I requested a quote they asked for a copy of the inspection report that I had done for my new place and I sent it over. They sent me a quote that was much lower than what I had been quoted elsewhere. I asked if they needed to see the space in person to give a firm estimate they said no. I didn't want to get the work done right away so about 6 months later I emailed back to have them come out and they called me within minutes of sending the email. They scheduled me in right away and Carlos did an amazing job. He was very kind and knowledgeable. It ended up being a bigger job than anticipated but the quote never changed. This is not your standard electrical problem. In early June we had a sub panel lose all power. There were no blown breakers there or on the master house panel. The home was built in 1955 and is about 65 years old. The house wiring is complex, with inaccessible junction boxes. We had one electrical contractor try to locate a wire break, but they couldn't find it. They tapped out and referred us to ZED Electric. They recommended ZED as they felt there would need to be a bypass circuit created and this was beyond them. I called ZED at about 8 AM in early August and by late morning Andy showed up. He was familiar with the first contractor so did not duplicate their effort. He isolated where the opportunity was for an effective bypass from another nearby panel. He found an unused breaker of sufficient current to support the original panel. He routed new wires, got Richard his co-worker to repair two access holes for wire routing, and wrapped it all up by 4PM. It worked perfectly! The price charged was very fair for the results. ZED electric and Andy have all my future business.

They left my job broken and unfinished. after I paid off all of the bills that were about 4 times what they should have been, they continued to demand payment for bills I already paid. they only want to overbill for easy work and abandon you after you overpay and the problems aren't fixed. this is how they left me. after ripping me off for about 3 grand.

We had a switch that had stopped working, and we noticed melted plastic inside, so we were kind of freaked out about potential fire hazard.
We called Zed Electric for a second opinion. The first (not Zed) electrician said we needed to rewire the whole front of our house, at a cost of $4000. The electrician from Zed said we needed a new switch, and the reason for the problem was simply that the switch had been installed backwards. Cost? $180. Thank you, Zed Electric, for being honest, and saving us $3820.

A light fixture in a bedroom stopped working. They came out and charged $180 to 'diagnose' the problem, which, with a voltage tester would have taken them less than 10 seconds. They wanted to charge an additional $200+ to install a light fixture - not even providing the fixture. Luckily, I found out about it before they came out to do it, and had my handy-around-the-house hubby do it. Put in a $30 light fixutre in under 5 minutes, and we were done - the only tool required was a screwdriver. The whole job, even if you charged a travel fee and an hour minimum should have been less than the $180 they charged for the 'diagnosis'. I tell everyone I know to avoid them!

We have a house built in the 40's with antiquated electrical. We've needed to have an electrician out 3 times in the past 6 months. We've had three different electricians from Zed come out each time. Each one has been extremely professional and efficient. They were able to resolve the issues correctly and relatively quickly. They have been on time and diagnosed the issue correctly. David came right out with an estimate. Work was done on date we requested. Polite, careful and competent workmen. Our job required some extensive surgery into the plaster in several areas of our 1931 house. They did some patching, and when they were finished, there was very little prep for us to do before we repaint. They cleaned up a wild unsightly jumble of outdated wires near our breaker, which is now all neat and tidy.

This review is long overdue - sorry Zed Electric. We were having issues with a ghost in the house. The downstairs lights would blink on and off. We called Zed and they fit us in very quickly. When the electrician arrived, he changed out the circuit breaker for the circuit with the blinking lights. We turned on all lights and they didn't appear to be flashing. Woohoo! However, a couple of days after he left, they started blinking again. We called Zed back and they sent another electrician out. He removed some more parts from the circuit board (I apologize if I am not discovering everything correctly). It turns out the bus board had some corrosion on it at that spot. The electrician was able to move that circuit to a new spot and we haven't had a problem since. Since they guarantee their work, they didn't charge us for the second visit. Zed Electric had previously done other work around our house and I have always been impressed with the quality and professionalism.

First time customer today, and I'm so pleased. I took advantage of their call board in case they had an earlier appointment for me, and sure enough, they got me in sooner than my appointment. Kevin came by today to handle a dropped neutral connected to the garbage disposal, and two recessed lighting cans where the socket had become loose. He was fast, friendly and came in under the estimate. Being a resident of OB, I was looking for someone local, and they didn't disappoint. Definitely my first call next time I've got some electrical work to do.

My *only* complaint is that although they accept credit cards, they don't use Square or any mobile payment solution, so the tech ends up writing your credit card number on the receipt for later processing. That seems weird in 2017, and if that info gets misplaced, could be problematic - but next time I'll just have cash available.

I've used Zed Electric numerous times and have always been impressed. Years ago, I needed power ran to a new hot tub. I researched a bunch of companies and selected Zed Electric. The technicians were on-time, courteous, and did great work.
About a month ago, we purchased a new home and needed a variety of electrical work done that was noted in our home inspection. I reached out to Zed Electric once again. I spoke with Dave, the owner, and explained what work was needed. He asked for a copy of the inspection report so they would know exactly what they were looking at when they came to do their estimate. Matt arrived on time to perform a more comprehensive inspection. He noted a few additional items, which the general inspection hadn't caught. About a week later, I was able to get an appointment set and the work completed.
In the midst of all of this, I was having some repair work done to my existing home to get it ready to sell. One of the contractors tripped a couple of circuits and they wouldn't reset. As luck would have it, one of them was the circuit my internet connected to, and since I'm currently working from home, I needed it fixed ASAP. I called Zed Electric and explained the situation. Dave was able to dispatch a technician immediately and within the hour I was back up and working.
I realize many reviews are written based solely on a single experience, either good or bad. But, I have now had four great experiences with Zed Electric. So look no further, Zed Electric will not let you down.

This past time, a bit of an emergency on the weekend and I received a call from the owner, we got things sorted out and I was taken care of ASAP. We have always been impressed with the excellent work that Zed Electric has performed on our home in Bay Ho and condominium in Point Loma. We moved to our home in October 2016 and John did an amazing job of completing all our electrical up-dates and needs. In August of this year the electrician who put our 220 line in was awesome. We just can't remember his name. He had the difficult task of going into our attic. Our 1950's home has a very tight crawl space. When it was completed it looked perfect. This September, Mark was here to set-up the 220 line to our swim/spa. He did a great job. He as well as the others were total professionals and they all demonstrated expertise in their field.
Special thanks for Dave Zedaker for coming out to check on the workmanship. That type of management and leadership is not always seen in large corporations. This showed us that you care about the workmanship as well as taking care of your staff

I called Zed Electric on a recommendation, and I'm glad I did. I have a rental property with a washer/dryer unit and the electrical outlet was no longer working and pulling out of the wall (tripped the circuit breaker).

I called another recommended electrician and told it would be two weeks.

Then I called Zed and they had a distant appointment as well, but offered an alternative whereby my tenant would let Zed know his work schedule and if time opened up, they'd call and come take a look.

They came the following day (Dave) and he replaced it for a total of $175 ($145 hourly rate, minimum 1 hour, and parts at cost).

They don't charge for travel time either.

Given the other positive reviews, I'd strongly consider having Zed do electrical upgrades in my own home.

Very professional scheduler who took down all my info. Always great when I don't have to be present during repairs on a rental property. Big time saver.

Good electrical work, bad pricing compared to alternatives. I used them previously a couple years ago for a new outlet on one side of vanity as well as a small wiring job. The electrician they sent was professional and competent. He had to wire through the attic but did so with minimal dry wall damage which was appreciated. At the time, it was about $300 to get the outlet installed (I do think I charged an extra half hour or so because of a break the electrician took.)

Regardless, I was happy with the service so when we needed similar work done in our new home along with a couple dimmer switches installed, we decided to contact them again. What a huge waste of time. First, we had to make an appt to have someone come give an estimate and then wait several days for an estimate to come back. When we got the estimate back, it was almost $700!! This seemed pretty unreasonable for a new outlet (regardless of how complicated the wiring be) and a couple dimmer switches so I contacted several other places for estimates. I was provided estimates/responses immediately and HALF the price. And all had availability within the week for the job - no coming for an estimate and then sending estimate later, all to have to reschedule an appt for them to come back to do the actual. Sorry, but nobody has time for that - if you have a real job. But maybe the people that can actually afford the work at ZED don't have to work...

Anyway, in short, believe their electrical work is solid but could definitely improve customer service, availability and pricing.

He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the fixes and scheduled a time to come out for a free estimate. We bought a home built in the late 70's that had no ceiling lighting, didn't have a cable outlet on the wall where our TV needed to go, and needed some electrical work in the garage upgraded from a DIY solution to an up-to-code permanent solution. David from Zed came and took notes on my extensive wish-list of upgrades and fixes throughout the house. I had a detailed quote the next day that reflected the walk-through we did together.

ZED sent out Niall to do the work for our house. Niall was friendly and already had a good understanding of the project when he arrived. Our project was a week's worth of work for Niall. He got our house wired up right while we were off at work. Felt totally comfortable leaving our home in his care while we were gone. I had a few last minute changes (adding a few dimmer switches, installing a fan on a really tall ceiling) and Niall rolled with it all. He was incredibly helpful and helped us to understand the ins and outs of how everything worked.

I know we'll have more electric work to do in the years to come and I'm looking forward to using ZED again. Can't recommend them highly enough!

Zed Electric has done several jobs at our home over the last few years, from replacing all the kitchen under counter lights to installing new wall sconces to new fuses for a kitchen upgrade and landscape lighting repair. Zed electric is amazing!! we had a huge job that was needed on our 1963 house. rewiring the entire house, panel upgrade, exterior lights installed. new switches through out our home. Not only are the team at Zed professional, they are timely, friendly and fulfilled everything they had promised and beyond. Even after the job was done I had called them on many occasions with questions. They AWAYS took my calls and answered all my questions. They are reasonably priced and just sooooo good!! If you need an electrician, look no further. Give them a call, you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Thank you Zed Electric for your excellent service! I had a short in the wire servicing the dishwasher and disposal just before a house full of guests were arriving for Thanksgiving. They put me on the call board and an electrician was able to come the next day to fix the problem. They also alerted me to a code violation that they later corrected. Zed Electric is very thorough and cares about their customers. We won't use anyone else.

Left a message on the owners phone Sunday of Labor Day weekend, with little hope of a call back. Maybe five minutes later the owner called me personally. The issue was basic, but my electrical knowledge was even more basic. He walked me through the solution on the phone and charged me nothing. He probably knew from my message he wasn't going to get paid, but called anyway and kinda saved my weekend. What a guy! My first and only stop for electrical work from now on!

Recently my very old cooktop died. Unfortunately for me it was wired 30 amp and all of the new electric ones are 50 amp.

So the question I needed to answer was whether it was cheaper/better to convert to gas or upgrade to 50 amp.

Everyone I talked to gave me a default answer of it is always cheaper to convert to gas. I didn't really believe them and they all refused to come and give me an actual quote.

In my case the breaker box was near the kitchen and I was able to buy an electric cooktop much cheaper than a gas one.

David came out. Told me I was lucky and it would not be much to run a 50 amp connection to the cooktop location. They were able to schedule me for a week later.

Julian came out to do the actual work. He worked very fast and even patched the small holes he needed to make.

Over all I'm very happy and I would hire Zed Electric again.

My dining room light fixture was not working along with my two outdoor lights. I called ZED Electric in the morning on Friday, 1/2/14 and she said it would probably be Monday or Tuesday before someone could come out, which was fine with me. She took down my number and said she'd call me as soon as there was availability.

She called that afternoon around 2 and I was home. She sent over the electrician, who was super cool. I told him I wanted to fix the fixtures, as opposed to replacing.

The dining room - he took the fixture off and noticed the wires were taped up. He removed the tape and put wire nuts on the ends and my light worked! Woo hoo!

The first outdoor light - He took the fixture off and noticed right away that the wiring was jacked up. He fiddled with the wiring and got it to work.

The second outdoor light - The fixture was old and he said it had a halogen bulb that was energy inefficient. He had an extra outdoor light that was really basic and he installed that for me. It was only $5.

So, to fix all 3 lights was exactly 1 hour which was $135 plus the outside light fixture, which was $5.

Overall, I highly recommend Zed Electric. Very professional, efficient service.

I received an early morning call from my tenant that the lights on one side of the house were flickering and the electric panel had a crackling noise coming from it. I immediately thought of a possible fire, so went to the Next Door app to see any neighborhood recommendations for electricians. One was from a real estate professional who offered a positive review for Zed Electric.
When I called, a very helpful and friendly receptionist understood my concern, and although they were booked out for the week, assured me she would add us to a call out list for that day.
I was very pleased to receive a call about three hours later that an electrician could be at the house in 45 minutes which allowed me plenty of time to get to the house.
The electrician promptly arrived and found the melted breaker and another damaged by the heat. He also put up a new motion detector light as ours had fried in the recent rainstorm, and also offered advice that the type of light bulb we had in the dining room lamp was incorrect with a dimmer switch.
I found the cost of the repair very reasonable and the company's response to my problem was very professional. I like to have good services available so my tenants are not inconvenienced by repairs, so I am very pleased to have found a company that I would be happy to call again for my own home and the rental properties.

Since my problem was not an emergency my appointment was scheduled two weeks out; however, as soon as they had an opening they fit me in sooner. I called about 6 days ago. They promised that they would be there in the afternoon on the same DAY since it was building lights and a hazard to my tenants in the evening. Well, they didn't make it that day. I called again the next day, they said that they would stop by in the afternoon the same DAY. Well, you get the picture, day after day the same thing until I called yesterday. The lady specified that the owner, david, would call me and explain things. Well, he hasn't called me yet. We bought a house that needed quite a bit of electrical work done on it, placing ceiling lights, running cables for comms, replacing all outlets, and putting in a new panel. Dave and his guys did an awesome job. Dave Zedaker was always responsive, easy to work with, and willing to take the time to listen and explain everything. His on site guy whose name was also Dave, did an excellent job and was also very easy to work with. I had them compete the job, and there were no surprises when the bill came due.
Both Daves were always on time for the appointments, and they even closed out the work a couple of days early.
I am very happy with their work, and will definitely use them again.

27 December 2016. It's 5:31 p.m. At 3:40 p.m. half of the electric lights and plugs failed. I went out to the breaker box, and couldn't see anything amiss. My 92 year old mother in law uses an oxygen concentrator. She needs that to breath. My computer was running on batteries and I called five different electricians. All were closed for the holiday. I saw Zed Electric and called them. I explained what happened. The woman who answered the phone said they will have somebody out as soon as possible. She called me back in 20 minutes and told me an electrician would be arriving within the hour. She was understanding and sympathetic. At 5:05 Eric arrived. It took him 20 minutes to solve the issue. He showed me what had happened, ad he recommended an extra breaker to deal with the under capacity problem. Now here's the best part: I had a new remote control overhead fan that stopped working. I tried of and on for months to get it to work. I asked him if he could hard wire the fan in since the remote control receiver stopped working. He took the remote control unit and looked at it. The he pushed the on button. And the fan and light came on. I can't describe how surprised and taken aback I was. All I can say is Eric performed a miracle.

Dave and Julian completed some work on my condo last month (apparently I started my review and forgot to publish) and I couldn't be happier with the work they did. They can right in the middle of their arrival window, gave me a quick estimate, and got right to work. I wanted to have a chandelier removed and a new one installed in a slightly different location. They were able to do so without any extra holes (the hole you see in the photo is from the previous chandelier) and we're all clean up and gone with 90 minutes of arrival. The guys were friendly, personable, and knowledgeable (I asked questions about future projects because I fully plan to use Zed for all my little electrical projects. To top it all off, they completed the work under budget! Their over-the-phone bid was already lower than everyone else, so to come in even under that was a fantastic surprise. Great company at a probably the best rates in town!

I also asked them for a quick estimate on some additional projects I'd like to get done, and not only did they give me a ballpark figure while they were here, but also sent me a written estimate in the mail after the fact. It's so nice having it all written out so as I get the funds set aside, I can move along with all my little projects.

My wife and I recently purchased a home built in the 1920's. The home included lots of original details, including the knob and tube wiring. We received multiple estimates and the pricing from Zed fell right in the middle of the mix, but the scope of work seemed to be very detailed and complete. We enjoyed meeting with David and appreciated him taking the time to walk through all that needed to happen to completely rewire our home.

Niall handled the majority of the work and did an amazing job. His attention to detail was second to none. Not only did he do a great job with the rewire, we also had him install some under-cabinet LED lighting in the kitchen and run media cables and power above our fireplace so we could hang our TV from the wall. Niall was very meticulous with this work and left the house super clean each day, even after the drywall cutting and patching.

Called this am to see if I could get a new thermostat. Gal on the phone was NO help and had NO idea what she was takling about. I told her I have a floor heater and it is working fine, I just need a new thermostat. She said is it gas or electric? I told her it is a gas heater, she said we don't deal with gas and maybe I should call the person who put the thermostat in before. Well, I said the house was built in 1952, who do you suppose I should call. Thanks Mark Maynard for the referrel, but no thanks this is not a company I will work with nor refer. I too own a company and having someone who answeres the phone should either know what they are talking about or get somone who does. First bad review I have written in 5 years. Only 0ne star,at least she was polite.

We needed to have all of the outlets grounded in our old vintage Craftsman house before we moved in with our modern electronics. They gave us an estimate that beat other electricians we had contacted, but we were wondering if the quality of the work would suffer. Well, it didn't. The technicians they sent over were professional, knowledgeable and efficiently updated every socket, replacing wiring when needed. There was no mess left behind, either, which was a problem with another company who worked on our previous home. We will definitely call them again!

We've used Zed Electric since 2007 when we needed some small electrical work done on our condo. In 2016 we purchased an older home and Zed has been our go-to electrician for all of our electrical needs. Dave and his team are honest, reliable, and always make sure the electric is up to code. The work completed includes: grounding all of the outlets in the house, removing and adding light fixtures and outlets, updating both the sub and main electrical panels, installing bathroom and ceiling fans, installing a whole house fan, and upgrading our home from 100 to 200 amps. Every electrician we've worked with from Zed has shown up on schedule and been pleasant to work with. It is hard to find reliable professionals so having an electrical company that we can trust makes all the difference.

We recently referred Zed Electric to a buyer of a large home for a purchase inspection. ZED used the general inspection report and then was able to elaborate on the repairs and recommendations to cure as well as provide a bid that the buyer was able to use in a Request for Repairs negotiation. The seller side was able to provide a lower priced bid for the same line items and Zed was able to match it. There is a charge for an inspection which includes time to review the general inspection report, visit the property, and provide a bid.

I am always feeling a little selfish when I write a review for such a good business like this. Often times positive reviews lead to increased popularity which leads to growth which then leads to higher prices when you call them back again for another job.. Hopefully that's not the case here. :). Actually they've been in business a long time, so I'm pretty sure they have these things worked out. Anyhow, I had a difficult time getting any companies to even come out and give me a bid. Put in requests for bids on 2 major sites including that one that starts with an A. They didn't even call me back or email me. My realtor recommended Zed, and I called and they were onsite the next day writing up a bid to wire my hot tub and install a GFI panel next to the tub. It took them a couple days to get the bid to me, which I found a bit odd, but it was worth the wait as they came in at a very fair price. They were super busy, so it did take them another week to get out here. Then, just my luck it starts to rain as the guy is starting the job... So he had to come back the next day to finish... But he showed up.. on time the next day and got the job done and made me a very happy camper, hot tub hooked up just in time for Christmas! The job done was professional and clean and I am super satisfied, will use them again for sure.

I was referred to Zed by a friend who has remodeled many houses, and as a realtor has helped lots of people like me find the best contractors. So I was confident going in to the relationship with Zed. And still they surpassed my expectations. Friendly, smart, thorough. Communicated clearly with no surprises. The work: installing ceiling fans throughout the house and upgrading the main exterior electrical box and some other outdated things like all the wall outlets. More than a week of work in the house, with two people working from home and a dog who is way suspicious of strangers with big equipment and loud tools. And Niall, the main guy, and others who came and went to help with different pieces, were totally cool and made it all seem easy. Zed has our total trust and loyalty.

As part of a Buyer's inspection associated with the sale of our downtown condo, we needed some electrical outlets repaired and brought up to code. We needed the work done by a licensed electrician and done quickly to support our closing date. Zed was booked solid for the next 10 days, but promised to let us know if something opened up sooner. Based on previous experience with other service providers, we thought we would have to wait the entire 10 days. But, the day after setting our appointment for 10 days out, we received a call from Zed saying they could fit us in that afternoon. The electrician showed up on schedule, did the work very effectively and quickly. He was very polite and knowledgeable, had all the tools and materials that he required, and minimized the amount of billed hous. We were extremely happy with the service and highly recommend ZED.

So far we have had them do two projects for us. On time, on budget is a baseline expectation, and they definitely met that. More importantly, even though we didn't have big jobs that needed to be done, the owner came out and walked the property, figured out how to get the work completed, and explained it clearly to us. This was unexpected - as was the turnaround time of the next day(!). A short window of time was given and I got a call when the electrician was on the way, and he was super polite and efficient. The GFCI outlet in the kitchen wasn't responding correctly and being nervous I called the electrician in town. He tried to trouble shoot my problem over the phone, but thankfully I insisted he come out. He explained that many times people don't understand the purpose of the GFCI and the service call is wasted, but not in my case. After poking around in a few areas, he located and corrected my issue. I would not hesitate to call this company again.

This is a real review written by a real customer. I am a small business owner starting to do business in San Diego. Zed Electric was referred to me by a property owner/client, and their performance has exceeded every expectation. David Zedaker and his staff exemplify the highest ideal in competent work, fair dealings, and customer service I have likely ever experienced in my business life. My projects are small and inconsequential likely in the overall scope of their business. Yet they treat my work as their highest priority and have further graciously accomodated a number of changes in the schedule as factors outside my control impacted the plan. Bottom line, you could not find a better qualified or more conscientious general contractor and electrician, what a stroke of luck it was for me to find these guys in the first place.

Zed and Julian came through for me on a last minute job in a condo that had extremely complicated logistics and was also quite labor intensive. I called a number of other handymen and electricians before a colleague recommended Zed. They were the quickest to both respond and actually get out to the condo in order to accurately asses the situation and figure out the right way to get the job done in the time frame I needed. What a great experience! Zed Electric took our tiny panel in a closet to an expandable panel fully up to code on a house that hasn't been upgraded since it was built in 1952. The nightmare of getting SDG&E approval and City Inspection, and SDG&E stringing a new line was handled from start to finish with professionalism. My first time doing business with Zed Electric today. They are now my go-to electrician. Although they had come highly recommended by a trusted source I tend to be skeptical especially with contractors. Eric called before arriving to let me know he was on his way and what his ETA was. David, the owner, came to the house and walked through with us, making suggestions, recommendations, and pointing out absolute need to items. He worked with our time and budget constraints. Zed Electric is the only electrician company I will use from now on. Every electrician who has worked on our various jobs (small and large) has been professional, extremely experienced and done top notch work. When we built our custom home, the contractor's high end electrician did a sloppy job. Zed Electric guys were able to decipher what the contractor's sub did and now our closets light up when the door opens, our new A/C system works perfectly and we have a beautiful Induction cooktop that replaced a shabbily installed gas cooktop. The office staff is kind and courteous and they always do their best to schedule appointment times within your availability window. There was the one very rare occasion when an appointment time was missed and the Zed Elec staff made a specific appointment time rather than set another availability window for the make up appointment. The electrician arrived spot on the appointment time and again, he was super experienced, professional and worked efficiently and did a super job. We won't trust any other electrical company but Zed Electric with our future work.

We first worked with Zed Electric in 2008 when they rewired our entire 85 yr old house. Original knob & tube, lath & plaster. Not an easy job, especially when the crawlspace flooded during a freak rainstorm. David Zedaker was easy to work with, walked me through the entire process, and provided a competitive estimate. The project was on time and new electrical box (we upgraded service of course) a marvel. His crew was pleasant, always on time, and worked clean. We had David return last month to do some electrical work for our kitchen remodel. Another great experience!

Using Zed for over five years now. They give free estimate and always have stuck to it. Never charge a penny over the amount they state. Everything they have done (install sconces / remove sconces / install chandeliers / hook up oven and rewire to upgrade voltage for new appliances) has been impeccable. LOVE these guys.
