I had original sewer lines under my house, which were quite old, cracking, etc. I phoned in to the office and talked to Jay, who was very kind and helpful. We got going on the project, and although it took them longer than they thought, they got the job done. The workers were conscientious, polite and hard-working.
Called on a Friday for service. Scheduler was not sure if she could get someone out that afternoon but assured me someone will be out in the morning. I waited until almost 11am on Sat before calling. Receptionist did not have the ability to check the schedule, nor could she transfer me to a scheduler. She took all my info again like I was a 1st time caller and was told someone would call me right back. One hour later I call back. Same thing all over again. I explained I have been waiting since 8am and if they can't make it out today please let me know so I can go on with my day. Message escalated to a manager.
No call.... No show...

I've worked with Z&Z a couple times now, first to replace a sewer lateral, and then more recently when my water heater went out due to basement flooding. I was fully expecting to be told that I needed a new heater and was bracing for a major financial hit. Instead they said they were pretty sure they could fix it, which they totally did. Didn't try to upsell me or anything, just got my hot water back online. Seif and his team are good, honest professionals and they get the job done.
Amazing. I called to state my issue, and Eddie and his team were out the next day to diagnose a broken water heater. I had a new heater in the morning after that. Super polite, very quick service, all around amazing. Would definitely call again for work that needs to be done!
Eddie worked hard to find out why our sink wouldn't drain. He checked our sewer lateral with a camera as something wasn't right. He eventually found the problem and put it right. He's absolutely reliable. Definitely recommend.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND Z & Z PLUMBING. They said someone would be at our home between 3:00 and 5:00. Not only did no plumber show up by 6:15(!), but after a couple of follow up calls on my part to try and get an updated ETA, nobody could give me an ETA and nobody ever bothered calling me with any update. I eventually cancelled the order, got a different plumber who showed up within less an hour after that time, just as they promised, and did an excellent job solving our problem quickly and professionally.
We liked the plumber from Z & Z Plumbing who came out to assess our sewer ejection pump problem. His assessment was clear and thorough. My wife called the office three times over 10 days - for an estimate and Z & Z said they'd send it the next day.
Never got the estimate, so the two stars are for not providing the estimate. We would've understood, if they were too busy for our project and couldn't fit it in - but 2 - 3 promises of an estimate - and then not receiving one, wastes our time and theirs.

I had an issue with my toilet contacted Z&Z plumbing (and others) via Yelp. Z&Z was quick to respond and came onsite to review the issue and quote the recommended fixes. The plumber had all that was needed to get the job done in a timely manner. My issue was resolved and they cleaned up when finished. Great Service and would definitely use their services again should the need arise.
The storm water drains beneath our house were clogged. Z&Z came the next day and took care of it quickly. This is our second very positive experience with them.
We highly recommend Eddie with Z and Z Plumbing. Our water pipes needed replacing (installed in the 1940s), and Eddie provided a helpful explanation of what would be required to replace the pipes, and gave a reasonable estimate for the project. Eddie and his team did a thorough and clean job with the replacement, and they were more than willing to talk me through their decisions for the work.

Unprofessional staff that wastes your time. I had a tech come out to diagnose why our shower wasn't heating up and he couldn't give me a clear answer. He came back out a second time and was hours late just to tell me they couldn't do anything for me.
I got a second person to come out from a different company and he told me it was wrong with it right away.
Had an issue with my toilet leaking, messaged the business and they had someone out immediately. Alex was our plumber. He was personable, polite, professional, and fast. He had all the right parts in his truck and solved our issue quickly. Highly recommend.

Polite but wrong when they came out about a clogged sewer line to the city lateral, but then they misinformed me that it was the city's responsibility. So I wasted an evening having the city come out, only to tell me that it is definitely the homeowner's responsibility. I try to get an appointment to have them come clear the line, but the earliest they can come is in three days, and they quote me $425 to video snake the line from an easily accessible clean-out (2 other plumbers were going to do it for $300).
Unwilling to wait, nor to be overcharged, I headed to the Berkeley Tools Lending Library, checked out FREE snake and (ultimately unnecessary) goggles, drove the small device back home, and did it myself in under an hour (incl. viewing an 8-min safety video about the machine to see how to do it)!
Moral of the story: if your sewer line or pipe is clogged (esp. women, whom plumbers notoriously gouge), save yourself hundreds of dollars and several days: do it yourself!
All I can say is wow. We had such a wonderful experience. Sergio was fantastic he came in examined the problem, new what we needed, which was a new water-heater. When I say he was fast and efficient, this guy knows his stuff, I asked questions and he knew the answer. He was clean when doing the job and after he finished he even cleaned up a spot that he didn't have to clean. I would recommend Z and Z in a heart beat. Sergio you are the man!! We trust Z and Z plumbing with all our plumbing needs.
Our water heater broke; Eddie came out that afternoon and repaired it in a professional and timely manner. He was also friendly and personable. We thus called them again to fix a bathtub spout leak, which Eddie again fixed in a professional and timely manner. Great service, highly recommend.
Our water main shut off line to the house needed replace. Z & Z Plumbing came and gave us a estimate less then their competitors. We accepted the estimate and within the hour Juan and Eddie was here to repair the water main line. They were finish within the hour. They were fast, courteous and efficient. We are very pleased. with their work. We will definitely use Z &Z plumbing again and refer them to our friends and family.
They did a great job repairing my sewage ejector pump. They were professional, clean, and got a dirty job done right. I would absolutely use them again.
Plain and simple. Z & Z gets the job done. The owner is extremely knowledgeable. He clearly at the level of master plumber. He and Eddie came out and assessed the job right away. They showed up on time and gave me a great price.
Eddie finished the job and even went above and beyond. They took the time to explain everything about the job.
Eddie was clean and efficient. Once done he cleaned every area.

They responded quickly to my request for a quote. They gave me a 2 hour timeframe for the visit. They arrived right at the end of the 1st hour. I had a small job - remove old frozen soap dispenser and install new one.
The work took 30 minutes. The cost was $175. I thought that was high but needed to get the job done and since it was a small job I didn't want to nickel & dime the cost. I had several responses that the job was too small.
Eddie was great. Very friendly and knowledgable. I would definite use them again but for a bigger job I might get another quotes.
I have used Z and Z Plumbers several times and I plan to always use this company whenever I have a plumbing problem.
The technicians, Eddie and Felix are highly competent, efficient and helpful.
I would happily recommend Z and Z Plumbers to anyone looking for a good, competent plumber.

Z and Z has been to our house several times and has done excellent work. Most recently, we had to dismantle old kitchen sink plumbing and a wall mounted faucet and then have new copper pipes installed. Big shout out to Eddie who was so good at problem solving an unexpected issue. He had to move and install a new drain pipe for our new sink. It involved opening up the basement ceiling. He was so thorough and explained everything. Totally trustworthy, competent, and vaccinated too! Highly recommended! Ask for Eddie!

Have had the best experience with z and z plumbing. They have been my plumbers for years. Never needed to use anyone else because these guys are very smart and know exactly what needs to be done when I call them. If you are dealing with anyone else I would stop and call z and z they got the best service and the best prices in the bay.
Big thanks to Eddie who came out so rapidly and efficiently stopped a leak under our kitchen sink. Was very worrisome and he was informed, helpful and took care of the problem so quickly. Highly recommended!!
We've needed their services twice now, once for the tub and once for the sink.
Both times they did just what we needed, offered friendly advice, and performed the work for a reasonable price.
The individual who performed the service also wore a mask the whole time, which was great.
Z and Z plumbing have been my go-to plumbers for more than 8 years and I'm never disappointed. My most recent job with them was a long awaited garbage disposal install and they were fantastic! So professional, always masked, wore shoe covers inside my home, met all of my needs and concerns. I look forward to many years using their services and would recommend them for plumbing issues both big and small.
I am so upset that I am writing this review. We have been trying to get an issue resolved with this company for almost 2 years. We had a new water heater installed. They picked the water heater and installed it. It was still taking 10 minutes to get cold water. Then they suggested that we should have had a circulator put in to help with that. Would have been nice to have been given the option. Then the new heater was making noise and they came back out and we were told that our water pressure was too high and the technician should have never installed the heater. Ok, again, would have been nice to know. Then they adjusted something and we were supposed to let them know if it was still happening. It was. Then the technician came out again and said, oh, there is a problem with this water heater - it's faulty, I am going to have to contact the manufacturer. Then we never heard back. Called about 10 times, asked to speak to the manager, etc.
FINALLY, the manager came out and said he would run some numbers that day (which was a month ago), and we have never heard back.
We have been trying to resolve this situation for almost 2 years! I don't even know what to do anymore.
And to top everything, they use an answering service so it's impossible to even get a direct line. You have to wait for someone to call you back, which never happens!!!!!!
The staff is so nice though, which is why I am sad to leave this review. But it's time.

Originally had appointment for 12-2, the dude was originally a no show and had to call HQ to request an ETA. He then shows up at 2:30 with no ETA.
Comes in, gives me a quote to unclog my sink, leaves to get tools, locks himself out of his car.
I spend the next hour waiting for someone to get him back into his car. A basic mistake but annoying nonetheless.
He fixed the sink just fine, but made the questionable choice of flushing the clog DOWN MY TOILET. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Seems like amateur decision making for a professional plumber.
He ended up also fixing my sink water pressure, replacing a part with a new one free of charge, which singlehandedly saves this review from going any lower.
Overall decent service, the dude was honest and nice, just not the most professional, probably new? Not a terrible experience, but would probably try another service for my next issue before coming back.
I cannot say enough good things about Z and Z Plumbing for all jobs large and small !! Every interaction has been professionally completed and included education on how to avoid the situation for next time when possible. Today it was Eddie and Felix who installed a new faucet in under an hour including the new water line in a teeny tiny space which requires one to be a yogi to fit in it!! They were on time, cleaned up after themselves and were cheerful at 8:00 in the morning. They arrived wearing masks and used social distancing so we were all protected in the new normal of COVID-19. Z and Z Plumbing has replaced a sewer line, pulled 2 toilets, installed a dishwasher and fixed 2 clogged drains at our house. ( Oh the joys of an old house :-) This review is long overdue. Thank you Z and Z!!

Seif was easily butt hurt when I asked him about his experience in the field. (standard question)
Must be why I Never got my estimate or callbacks to follow up when I phoned in many times to the office
Would not want that attitude on my jobsite!
They did a great job on fix for my leaky shower handles and new toilet install. I hope to hire them for other projects.
This update of my one-star review is to address the absolutely maddening reply the owner left to my other review. I'd tried multiple times to reach them to a voicemail that had never been set up, and when I FINALLY left a message about my dissatisfaction because an answering service finally answered, I specifically said I wanted to speak to the OWNER. The callback I got was from a condescending MANAGER who'd not been involved with the original job.
It was infuriating to learn that the OWNER was at my house for the job (rescuing the guy who had the wrong equipment on day one) and never once ID'd himself as the owner. In fact, it was the vehicle that the owner, Seif, showed up in, that reeked of weed and had dealer plates.
The other plumbers who came to my house showed up in legally registered vehicles, not expired/dealer plates, and handed my business cards that ID'd themselves. That's one difference of a pro vs. a non-pro.
Seif was faster to post a comment to my Yelp review than he was to return calls or answer the phone, and he put all his energy into talking about what a great business person he is, with zero energy addressing my grievances:
--Not IDing himself as the owner when he was there
--Overcharging me for a snake that his employee had the wrong equipment for the day before
--Overcharging me for an alleged video inspection that I wasn't invited to look at or given a video of
--The old/expired tags and dealer plates
--The ridiculous choice of caulk on a toilet
--Bringing the wrong equipment to the job
--Never answering the phone or setting up voicemail
--Telling me I'd bought so much time from the snake and I'd gotten such a good deal the boss would be upset (HE WAS THE DAMN BOSS).
The lip service of his reply (we value our customers, we're so great, blah blah) just serves to show exactly how tone deaf they are about customer relationships after all. He had the opportunity to call me per my request, and he did not. He also didn't address all the prior business I sent him. Professionals always thank you for referrals.
The response I got reminded me of so many of my female friends describing their first dates with men. I'm vegetarian. [Oh, but I know this great steakhouse you must try.] I was promoted at work last month. [Oh! That reminds me of that time I got an award at work two years ago.] I have two kids. [Oh, so do I! Here are their photos and everything about them and me me me me me.]
In case you haven't gotten the message, there was zero attempt at any resolution at all. Just...LOOK HOW GREAT I AM I AM THE BEST PLUMBER just ignore that I and my crew did a number of unprofessional and illegal things....
These guys were a no-show for my first appointment a month ago. A friend encouraged me to give them another try and they have now ignored two of my voice messages. One was left Thursday morning, one was left Monday morning. Neither call was returned.
Unreliable and rude -just what you want in a plumber.

The technician came out to give an estimate on a lot of work in our Oakland home. All he had to do was give us a bid. The timing was also of the essence because the plumbing issue also involved an insurance claim.
The technician said he would get back to us the following day. Nothing. Not only did Z and Z not return the calls, they didn't even answer the phone or return voicemails. The insurance adjuster also called with the same non-results.
Needless to say, I went with another company that was great and responsive.

Sief the owner is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. I had a major sewer line back up for about a year due to EBMUD damaging my line. They came out promptly and hydrojetted my line. It did not work so they went ahead and did a sewer line replacement in one day. They charge better prices than other companies and assist with other plumbing issues while they are there. I will always call Z and Z for all my plumbing needs
Communication with this company is non existent. Emails, text, or phone messages to either their answering service or the owner himself are not returned, and after waiting for months, and sending a required $1000 down payment to have sewer lateral compliance work done, plus another $2000 by the start date of the project, instead of the work being done we were told we needed another inspection which resulted in doubling of the price, an agreed upon plan, and sudden non- communication resulted in we going elsewhere.
Trying to find a plumber on a rainy day in the pandemic turns out to be a big ask... After reaching out to many plumbers, Z & Z actually answered their phone AND got a plumber out to my house within a couple hours. The plumber was friendly and properly masked and charged us what he quoted us. No complaints here!
A+++ service. Their response time when you request a quote is very quick - a few minutes in my case. I decided to schedule an appointment for an estimate within the next few days. My plumbing issue wasn't an emergency so it was good. My plumber arrived on time and he was truly awesome!!! I have a 90-year-old home with the original plumbing which was clogged and effecting my washing machine drainage. Eddie, my plumber, diagnosed the problem, was able to clear up the clog and within a few hours, had those old pipes clog-free and I was able to run the washing machine. The best news, though, was hearing that my old pipes could go another few years without replacing the entire plumbing system. Yayyyy! As a retiree living on a fixed income, that's great to hear.
Eddie was a very honest, really sweet and professional young man. He really knew his craft, explained what he was doing and went that extra mile. The costs were reasonable in my opinion - so glad I didn't need to spend the thousands immediately to repipe.
Really honest, speedy and professional company. I will definitely use them again for my future plumbing needs.
I had Z and Z install a new tankless and replace aging pipes a few months back. Very fast and affordable, and Seif and his crew were very friendly and helpful. They even sent out a technician for free to check out a leak issue -- the leak turned out to be a faulty faucet seal, and not from their work.
Updated to two stars: Unfortunately, I discovered some minor damage to electrical mounts and wire casing in my crawl space due to the plumbing installation, which will make it difficult to pass electrical/Plumbing inspection. My electrician will need to come out and repair the damage in order to correct the issues. I will update this review if we can find a meaningful resolution.
Edit: Updated up from two stars. They have been following up, and are waiting on my electrical contractor. I will update again when it is completely resolved. I'm impressed by a contractor like this who takes time to correct issues, and proactively communicates.

We had a clog that just couldn't be cleared with my snake. Jac (women's plumbing) recommended Z&Z to come out and help. Eddie arrived on time and super professional. Not only did he fix the clog, he educated me on how to care for my pipes better in the future. I love to learn about my old house! Eddie was awesome and stayed to trouble shoot a couple of other issues. Thanks, Eddie! See you all soon for the hot water heater flush!
Another contractor that was providing an estimate for insulation work pointed out what appeared to be a leak in the crawlspace that was originating from one of the bathrooms. Made a few calls, but after two other plumbers recommended Z and Z for the issue I was describing (possible source the overflow regulator in the bathtub) I decided it would be best to go with Z and Z.
Jimmy texted me indicating he was nearby in case I could see him earlier. Thankfully it worked out and Jimmy was able to identify the issue. It was not the overflow regulator as guessed, it was actually a leak in the cold water pipe at a joint that had pressure being put on it from the nearby studs and had a poor weld. After confirming the issue he gave me a quote that would include re-piping that section to ensure there would be no pressure against the pipe and performing the weld in a very tight location while atop an 8 ft. ladder with a bunch of flammable materials surrounding the weld location. Needless to say, I needed to feel confident he could do the job. Jimmy delivered here too by clearly explaining the challenges with the work. The quote was fair and I told him to go ahead with the work.
After he wrapped up, the work looked great and more importantly there doesn't appear to be any issues with the work. Highly recommend Z and Z and especially Jimmy.
We called them for an estimate on a job, and they responded quickly. Someone was out the next day, and took detailed notes on the work.
He said to expect an email quote the next day.
That was almost a month ago, and we've gotten nothing. No email, no call.
Kind of a waste of time for all.
I called Z & Z this morning around 9 am. They said someone would be out between 11 & 1. James came out at 11:15am. He was very talented & knowledgeable.
Our job was not an easy one. He lowered pipes & reconfigured all of the plumbing under our kitchen sink. He also dry walled the area with great skill. James is an awesome plumber & an all around good guy.
Highly recommended. Best estimate, best communication and best execution. They were the best to take care of our sewer latheral. Can't be happier with their service. I contacted multiple contractors and endup working with them.

Second time using Z & Z, both for water heater problems. The office scheduled the tech (Eddie) the same day I called, he changed the thermocoupling instead of trying to upsell me on a new water heater, and the job was done in 35 minutes. Not bad at all - I initially called the office around 11:30 AM, and the repair was competed by 3:30 PM the same day.

Z&Z was quick to respond and have someone come out to take a look at the issue at my property. They accessed the issue and scheduled a time the next day to come and get everything fixed.
They clearly explained what had happened, provided a good price, and took before and after photos.

These guys were great. I was able to get a next day appointment - they showed up on time and helped me figure out *why* my drain is clogging so frequently + gave me a few tips. Sal & Santana (I hope I got their names right!) were super helpful and quick.
They were also less expensive than the 3 previous companies I have used.
First and foremost, thank you. My experience was professional and timely. We were have water temperature and pressure issues. We thought and was prepared to pay for a new water heater. They (eddie) came, analyze and fixed the problem no new water heater needed. *at this time* His honesty was refreshing and appreciated. I will continue to use them for all plumbing needs.
Z & Z was the first company to respond to our call about a bathroom leak. Eddie arrived the same day in fact within an hour equipped with a face mask and shoe coverings. He quickly diagnosed the problem, which ended up not be a water leak but a shower pan leak. His honest approach and great advice was much appreciated and we would call them again in a heartbeat.
Z and Z plumbing saved me from desperation. A drain blockage from a nasty grease clog showed up in the middle of a rain storm, and water was pouring out of the p-trap. I replaced all the external hardware myself -- it took a whole day-- then the wall started leaking. I was about to cut the wall out, and realized that I better summon a professional before my amateur plumbing really backfired. After another plumber left me high and dry, Z & Z sent a technician right away. He fixed my leaky wall pipe without cutting the wall out and undid my clog too, all in under a few hours. I was expecting to pay thousands, but all my emergency repairs were under 500$. Such a relief! The plumber was affable, professional and sympathetic. From here on out, they're going to be my #1.

Still waiting on the company to finish up my water heater installation. We have failed inspection twice now. I have had to renew my permit. I still have yet to hear back on when they will be coming out to finish. I should have never paid the final payment, because it is NOT complete. Advice: avoid the company all together or at least hold out final payment until final inspection is complete.
I called and the phone was answered by the very friendly and super helpful Jay. She scheduled a plumber who came to my house - no kidding - within an hour! The plumber Eddie arrived prepared for social distancing with a face mask and shoe covers. He was terrific. They gave me a FREE estimate, explained my options and fixed the problem - a clogged toilet - within a short time. The cost was very affordable. The whole team is top notch. Thank you Team Z & Z for providing excellent, fast, and affordable service. Amazing.

I have used Z and Z plumbing twice, once for residential and once for business. Service was incredibly fast, professional, and didn't break my bank.
Jimmy saved me a ton of money not forcing me to use a gigantic commercial water heater for my business, gave me insight on why to downgrade to a smaller gallon and saved me a couple of thousand in the process.
I used Z&Z Plumbing to do my sewer lateral in Oakland and was very happy with the work and the result. Their office was responsive, the price was very competitive, the work was done well, we secured the permits, and the team was great. This company is run by all Oakland and East Bay locals and I would easily work with them again on a large or small project.
Z & Z is way more than a plumbing company. They are masters at concrete foundation work as well. Clayton was referred to me by an old Carpenter friend when we were looking to do a complete foundation excavation, digging out another couple feet to get living space down there.
We lived there through the construction process and they banged it out in a month with minimal disruption to our lives. Awesome.
While we were at it, we decided to do a re-pipe of the whole house (100 yr old plumbing), since most of the plumbing that was exposed was going to be covered up when we finished the basement. Clayton called in his partner Seif for that job.
While Z & Z wasn't the cheapest bid we got, it was competitive. My wife and I decided to go with Z & Z based on the stellar recommendation and feeling of quality.

These guys from Z and Z Plumbing are heaven sent! My water heater went cold all of a sudden although the pilot light is on. The heater is only a couple of years old. The BF consulted YouTube and was tempted to repair it himself. I told him that we should just get professional plumbers as the work requires being on your belly to deal with removing and installing the parts. I talked to a live person when I called Z and Z. They were on the dot as scheduled on the same day. They performed exactly what we have seen on YouTube. It turns out that the water heater filter needed cleaning (also according to YouTube). They got the job done efficiently. The men were courteous and friendly. They volunteered to remove their shoes and cleaned up before they left. Their price was also really reasonable. These guys are legit!
Called because our macerator sanitflow toilet was clogged. Eddie came out early the next morning, was extremely cheerful and seemed confident. He worked two hours and was able to get our toilet back up and working without having to replace the whole unit. Very happy with his work and he was so polite and nice. Highly recommend.

I sent a Yelp email asking for info about fixing my ice maker water line. They replied quickly, sent someone out within an hour, and he was able to make the fix in about an hour. Great, friendly, professional, responsive company!
Scheduled an appointment for these guys to provide an estimate to install a sink, and they were a no-show. They called the next day to apologize, claiming they had an emergency so we tried again with another time. This time Seif showed up early, did a thorough walk-through, then emailed me an estimate the following day. I wrote back saying I wanted to proceed..and nothing from their end for weeks.
Based on other Yelp reviews these guys seem great, so long as you can actually get them to show up to do the work.
AJ from Z&Z was really nice and helpful over the phone. After getting a better sense of what was causing our water damage, he sent Eddy to our house to fix the problem. Eddy did fix the problem and also helped me to find another leak that I didn't even know about because the water damage wasn't visible yet. Rates were really reasonable. I would recommend these guys to a friend.
I've had some issues with a slow leak near my water heater and hot water coming out of the cold faucets and crabby water pressure since I purchased my new house two years ago.
A good friend were referred Z and Z plumbing to me. I called them thurs am, two plumbers came out Thursday afternoon to look things over.
Both 'Jimi and the Salih. They knew their stuff! Walked me through what was happening and we scheduled them to come the very next day to take on the work.
It turned out there was a lot more issues and originally thought. These guys worked all day. And didn't leave until after 6 PM on Friday.
Seriously the attention to detail and the professionalism that both of them displayed and I want to say their perfectionism for their craft!

Friendly on the phone and easy to book an appointment. The plumber came out on time
And said he would send an estimate on Monday. This was Friday morning. I never received an email and called to follow up on the next Thursday. Once again very friendly on the phone and apologetic when I explained the situation. I was told that the owner of the company would follow up with me. This is now ten days later and still have not heard from anyone with an estimate.
Starting the whole process again with another plumber.
Professional staff and they come out to give you a quote quickly. They Ave replaced the sewer lateral on two of my homes that i own and beat out competitors prices. I most definitely recommend them for any of your plumbing needs.

After seeing that Eddie did not put the cover back on the water heater and he took the new igniter I just bought, I've removed a star. While I don't think it was intentional, in any service industry you should always clean up after yourself, put things back together and not remove things that aren't yours from the premises. I have to say I noticed the cover wasn't replaced and the old part was left there right after, but wasn't going to change my review until I went to light my canela and cannot.
Z and Z Plumbing was referred to me by another plumbing company as they weren't available when I needed them. Z and Z recognized my urgency (toilet had to be removed and a new replacement part installed) and went out of their way to get to my home in a timely manner and repair the toilet. The plumber, Salih, was professional and really cared about customer service. They are now my favorite plumbers and I will make sure I call them first in the future!

Called Z And Z with what appeared to be a major job under my kitchen sink. They showed up on time and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. I own an old building with more work to come. I highly recommend them for small or large jobs.
Called at 9am on a Friday and by noon, they were at my house. Honest and quick, what more can you ask for from a plumber.
I recommend you use them.
I had a tenant with a broken water heater & called Z and Z plumbing based on their good reviews. They responded quickly with a quote and a plan to try trouble shooting before replacing the water heater itself. I got an appointment quickly- which my tenant appreciated. They called ahead so I could meet them there, and I can't tell you how many companies fail to do that! The service engineers were right on time. They were professional, helpful, and got the problem fixed quickly. I will definitely use them again.
I called Z and Z Plumbing because of the rave Yelp reviews. I had a toilet that was leaking (mostly due to age), and they replaced it that day with a more modern low-flow toilet as well as doing some other smallish plumbing repairs. They even came on a Saturday at no extra charge to finish one of the small repairs they hadn't been able to finish the day before.
Excellent, excellent work -- the only reason I didn't award the final star is that nowhere do they show they have a plumbing license. If they do, I think they should display it on their site.

Z and Z just replaced my sewer lateral and worked their a**es off to finish an unexpectedly hard job so we would have water that night. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I'm still reeling from how fantastic this experience was....full story below.
I bought my house in Oakland last March and because we had so much other work to do, I neglected the sewer lateral until the very last minute. I had been planning to have my regular plumber do it when he had a health problem and passed on the job.
I called Z and Z (among two others) for their stellar Yelp reviews (almost too many 5 star reviews, I was suspicious) and because they are a locally owned family business from Oakland/San Leandro area. After Clayton gave me the bid, I got more skeptical because they were the lowest bid by a significant amount, and I was worried there might be some problem....but I decided to go forward after doing some research.
The day came and their crew showed up. Things were going great until the bullet they use to bore/break up the old lateral and drag the new pipe in hit an obstacle. Turned out that at some point, solid concrete had been poured around the old lateral as footing for a retaining wall. The bullet/bore could not expand due to the concrete. It was stuck, and would have to be chipped out using a jackhammer. Four hours of jackhammering later, they had only gotten down two feet into the concrete, but the footing was still far deeper than that. When I got home from work at 5:45, they were still at it, but the going was slow - it was looking like we would have to go to a hotel. I had a houseguest, my roommate was going to a job interview the next day and needed the toilet/shower/washing mcahine...hotels cost hundreds of dollars... I was starting to regret my choice...UNTILLLLLLLLLLLL
This is when it got amazing. Half an hour later, four family members of this family business showed up with a far heavier piece of equipment. They relieved the day crew and within 45 minutes, they had gotten down to the bottom of the footings, broken through and cleared the path. Then, one guy hand drove in the new lateral using a sledgehammer through several feet of the narrow earth and concrete path that had been cleared. It was an incredible physical effort. You rarely see that kind of intense sustained exertion in our era of sophisticated equipment. It completely blew me away.
By 7:45, the new lateral was installed, plumbing was functional, and they had put up safety barricades and promised to be back the next day for inspection and to finish the job.
When the EBMUD inspector showed the next day, he knew the crew and had nothing but good things to say. The lateral passed, and Z and Z then did a phenomenal job restoring and finishing the sidewalk and patch where they installed the new cleanout in front of my house, including somehow matching decorative concrete from the 50's even though the needed stone was unavailable.
These guys have a work ethic that you just don't run into that often...I am so impressed and grateful for the extra mile they went to save us from expensive consequences of the unexpected problem. They are a wonderful business and I am truly grateful for their help.
I called Z and Z Plumbing today to address my shower and tub drainage issues. Sal gave me a call back right away, and squeezed me into their already back-to-back schedule today. I was very satisfied with the service, giving me an assessment of the issue, cost estimation and possible work needed to be done. From start to finish, Sal resolved our issue in less than an hour. Thank you! We'll definitely call you again if we have any plumbing issues.
Scheduled apt. They came (I took time off of work... took about 1.5 hours). They never sent any proposal or bid. I messaged them asking what was up. Main dude had no record of me (but said he'd check with his partner). He didn't call back. He didn't respond to two messages here.
Guess I get to start the whole process over with someone else and take more time off work. Great - Thanks

I ended up getting free help from a plumber friend of a friend, but I want to thank Z and Z for responding quickly and punctually to my flooded basement, getting the sump pump working again to drain the basement, for their astute assessment of what work needed to be done, and for providing me a very reasonable estimate. Would definitely call them again!
These guys are great! They've come out 3 times and have provided incredible customer service every time. They replaced our sewer lateral by beating the lowest bid we had and doing the work the next week! They also responded quickly and came in below the quoted price for a repair to our water main when it was leaking. We'll definitely keep using them for our plumbing!

COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! DOUBLE WINNER! Last summer my water main broke on july 3. i had no water in my house and hosting a huge 4th of july bbq the next day. 3 estimates later everyone said they'd need to do it after the holiday, z & z came out on the referral of another plumber- LOWEST ESTIMATE AND HAD IT DONE THAT DAY! then today my toilet bowl broke. we have one bathroom and three people and NEED a toilet- called z and z and eddie came out with a new toilet within a couple hours. i could not be happier with these guys!

.... after having called 3 plumbers, who all no called, no showed, I gave Z and Z plumbing a call. Sife answered the phone and was at the house within the hour and wrote me up an estimate to replace my sewage main....
A few days later his guys showed up on time!! Had my sewer line replaced in the same day !! They worked hard all day and cleaned everything up when they were done!! The city inspected their work.
Sife dropped off the paperwork off few days later as well as emailed it. (Showing that it was passed by the city).

Awesome!! Super customer service, helpful, and courteous. I work for a property manager and needed a plumber for two properties. Both needing different work. The plumbing technician, DeMarcus, got the job done after a lot of runarounds from other plumbing companies. He got them done in no time. Had another installation job come in when he called to let me know he finished the previous jobs and DeMarcus worked it right into his busy schedule and got it done!
DeMarcus went above and beyond for me and I highly recommend this company. Very friendly and professional even after I had him going back and forth a couple of times, he was very understandable, professional, and nice about it.

I am incredibly impressed with Z & Z Plumbing's employees and their work. It was easy to get an appointment for them to come inspect our sewer lateral and they were able to replace the entire old clay pipe the next week. They only had to dig two large holes to replace about 15-20' of pipe. They did an impeccable job putting everything back the way it was where they dug the holes - bricks, stepping stones, mulch, and all. Seriously, had I not seen the hole the day before, I wouldn't have known they had done the work.
Everyone I interacted with from the company, including Seif and Clayton and another worker, were very professional. They also took care of all the paperwork with EBMUD and the city, which saved us a lot of time and hassle. The cost was quite reasonable for what they had to do and their work was exceptional. I would definitely hire them again in the future.

Seif scheduled the appointment with me yesterday and showed up a few minutes earlier than the scheduled time this morning. The call was just for a clogged toilet that turned in to sewage backing up in to my bathtub and shower. After snaking the pipes with no luck they went to extra lengths to clear my pipes in my old house and it ended up being a 6 hour job requiring 3 guys. Dealing with shit is not a glamorous job but everyone was beyond pleasant and left everything very clean. They had to get under my house and on my roof to fix the problem. I was beyond pleased with their work and even happier to find out it is a family run business. I will definitely use them again.
My kitchen sink was stopped up and acting strangely. After calling 3 other places with either answer or no callback in 24 hours, I called Z&Z. They came out at the time scheduled, did a quick assessment and gave me a reasonable quote. The work was completed in less than 2 hours and I feel comfortable that it was done properly. I will be using them again!
Well, these guys helped me out of a jam again.
A couple of weeks ago our old Bosch tankless water heater conked out. Laurie and I were going down to the gym to take showers, which is a remarkable pain in the neck.
So, I called Z & Z and my old buddy DeMarcus came out and tried to fix the thing, but it was beat. He went the extra mile, tho, and called in his boss Seif, to see if it was possible to save this thing. Seif took some time and gave it a good look, tried to fix it, but it was simply beyond repair. It was an older unit and it was done.
He quoted me a price of 2 grand to replace it with a contemporary Takagi tankless and said that he could come by the next day, a Saturday, to do the job.
I then called one of his competitors, Ehret Plumbing, who sent a guy out who stood before the old Bosch, folded his arms across his chest, and proclaimed, 3,200 dollars.
He did not bother to try to fix it. In fact, he didn't even take off the cover to look inside.
It was a Friday afternoon and I asked when he could get the work done and he told me Monday.
So, I called back Z and Z and the very next day Seif showed up with one of his fellows, Juan, and they replaced my old crappy water heater with one that is working very nicely and at a price more than 1,200 dollars less than his competitor.
You have to give these guys credit. They know customer service. They know their business. Their prices are fair. They're willing to go the extra-mile and they take a no-nonsense approach to the job.

We had Z&Z come out to install washer water hookups and a refrigerator water supply. They recommended that we reconfigure our existing pipes to add a proper washer drain. They showed up when they said they would, got the work done quickly and did it right. They actually ended up saving us a bunch of money on our sewer lateral replacement because of their recommendations. To top it all off, I got a call a few hours after the work was completed to let me know that they had accidentally overcharged me due to an internal miscommunication about the original estimate. I had been happy to pay what they had asked, and they could have easily taken the extra money and said nothing. Instead, they had the integrity to be honest with me and return the extra money. I will absolutely be returning to them for any future plumbing needs.

This is by far the easiest and most efficient company I've ever used to help fix plumbing issues around my house. They answered the phone after the first ring and even did their best to accommodate me that very day although I called 15 minutes before closing. My plumber Sal was there right at 8:30am the next morning however, and soon had my stopped up tub working again. He did a very quick and professional job, and I would certainly hire him again in the future.

I've owned this house for 25+ yrs. Lived in one for at least 10+ more yrs. in various parts of USA so have had extensive plumber experience....
This one is superior to any I've been around. My drain is better than it was before the clogging because he did such a thorough snakeout.

Tried three plumbers who didn't even return my call. Another was booked for two weeks. Z and Z answered right away and I got an appointment for two days later. The plumber showed up exactly as scheduled-- no four hour window BS. Quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Thanks, James. Highly recommend.
Contacted Z&Z and 3 other plumbers for an estimate on a not insignificant project. First, the technician did not show up during the two hour window to scope the project. (I do not live at the property.) I also received no call to let me know. After complaining, I was contacted and rescheduled based on an express promise to provide a competitive estimate. The technician was the least interested or engaged, let alone knowledgeable, plumber I have ever dealt with. I walked him through the project, explaining relevant aspects previously analyzed with other plumbers. He made no notes and took no measurements. After spending 40 minutes to drive to and from the site to meet with this person, he summarized the project as installing a toilet and connecting it to the sewer lateral. No SH*T. I'd already told Z&Z that twice -- in writing and by phone. Complete waste of time. Two days later, I've still received no estimate or response despite following up.

Great experience with Z & Z. Asif and his crew helped install plumbing in our house addition project in the Lower Oakland Hills. They helped with the new construction master bath and a half bath. Very flexible in timing with inspectors and other vendors. Hard working and extremely knowledgeable. Super happy with my experience working with Z & Z!

Z & Z plumbing has helped me twice and both times have done a fantastic job! The most recent experience was with a clog in my kitchen sink and I'm so grateful for their help. The gentleman who came by and fixed the problem within minutes and gave proper insight on how to prevent clogs and properly clean pipes. Answered all my questions and gave honest feedback. I was very pleased with the service and would recommend!
Just like that we had no hot water (and it happened during the middle of the work week). I sent a message to three nearby plumbers and Z and Z was the only one that responded that day, emailing me that night to assure me they could come the next morning. When Jimmy arrived, he quickly determined our water heater needed replacing. I imagined it would take several days to arrange the work but he got it done within a few hours. I appreciated his urgency and the quality of the work, even replacing several of the hoses with new copper ones. These guys do great work but most important they make the customer the priority.

Called about a clogged kitchen sink line and left a message. Got a call back and an appointment the next day. Showed up on time. Very courteous. Snaked the line, re-installed some piping, done in a few minutes. Didn't charge me extra despite using a credit card (plus $15 off as a first-time customer!).
Unfortunately, that evening, line was clogged again. Called again, left a message, got a call back that night with appointment first thing next morning. Seif called me to inform me he'd be about 10 min late. Again very courteous, apologetic. This time pipe got thorough treatment using hydro-jet. After several runs, Seif used a camera scope to inspect the pipe. This time it was clean. Charged me cost of hydro-jetting minus what was spent the previous day.
Highly recommend.
Just had Jimmy from Z&Z come out again to fix a shower leak and I'm definitely never going to another plumber again. First of all, Z&Z responded SUPER fast to my yelp inquiry and then came out to check out the issue the same day! The knobs turned out to be a little tricky so Jimmy had to grab a special tool, but everything was still completed extremely quickly and for a suuper cheap rate-- I couldn't believe how little it cost considering Jimmy had to go grab a special part. Not good. After multiple calls and moving my schedule around to be home for a water heater install, the technician never showed up for the morning window... rescheduled for an afternoon slot (given I was home) and he again no showed. Don't waste your trying to coordinate with this company. The receptionists are nice but there's a different one every time you call and the technician never responds to their requests... ended up being a huge waste of time.
Do not even bother with this company. We called 4 times, and no one even had the courtesy to call back. We contacted another co. Star plumbing and they said they would be here in one hour.

Look no further, Z and Z Plumbing are the best plumbers I have worked with in my life. They are fast, efficient, intelligent, fair, and kind. I called them due to a mysteriously slow-draining tub and they were thorough in their diagnosis; snaking through the tub's drain, climbing on our roof to snake through the roof vent, and eventually jackhammering up some cement outside and sending a digital scope to assess. As soon as they diagnosed the problem, they handled it day-of. Every person I worked with in their company (it took 5 people to solve our plumbing catastrophe), was courteous and responsive. It's clear they take great pride in their work. This will sound crazy, but I almost wish I had more plumbing needs so I could work with them again.
We've used z and z plumbing three times now. Both times they were very polite and professional. They fixed a pretty complex plumbing issue the first time they were out and were great to work with. Most recently they installed a tankless hot water heater for us. They did a great job.
Capable, clean, and quick! Sal showed up at the appointment time and was done in 35 minuets. Snaked plumbing from roof vent and made sure drain was flowing.

Sal is the absolute best!! Sal and his team came out and spent essentially the whole day working on various repairs in my apartment on Friday. On Saturday we ran into a separate issue with our kitchen sink. Sal drove over on his day off with incredibly short notice and helped us with the issue. As a realtor I had them perform the Sewer Lateral replacement for my client who was selling her home. They came out the day I called, reviewed the task, confirmed the prior bid they had given, and said they would be back the following week. They were and it took them 2 days to install the replacement pipe, schedule the test, provide the certificate and return the area to its prior condition. Well done !!

I had a busted water pipe in my backyard so I called ZZ Plumbing. The woman ok the phone was very friendly and professional. After scheduling an appointment with her, Sal called me an hour later and said he can be here in 30 minutes. After Sal arrived, he gave me a quote, he went to get the parts, came back with couple more guys and the job was done. Him and his crew were very friendly and efficient. He accepted credit card so that made payment easy. The whole process from beginning to end was smooth and swift. I would definitely call them for any future repairs. Thank you Sal and Pablo!
I was referred here by another well-reviewed company, when the latter plumber was sick and couldn't handle my emergency leak issue at 10 PM last night. Z and Z wasn't open then (plumber number one told me on the phone how to shut off my water in the meantime), but when I called Z and Z this morning I got not one but two callbacks, one from the office and one from Sal, the plumber. Sal worked around my own work schedule to squeeze me in as an add-on today, did a very thorough assessment of the problem, an interim fix, and scheduled (and me gave a reasonable-sounding estimate for) a definitive repair tomorrow. I hope I'm as happy with the final job as I was with the visit today! (BTW I had also called several plumbers who advertise 24/7 emergency service, and haven't heard back from them even yet..)

Disappointed the second time. Called them in to bid on a bigger job. They came. Took a look. Said they'd come back with the boss but never did. I talked to the first estimator many times but after 3 or 4 attempts. I gave up. I guess they have more residential work than they need. Wish they had told me that up front so I wouldn't have wasted my time.

So I'll never use this company again. They came out twice for the same problem and it progressively got worse and more expensive each time. Recently we asked them to come out after they fixed our leak because water was leaking at an alarming rate and even though it was in our tub, it was hot water and was going to amount to an enormous water bill if we waited until Monday. They said nah. So we called Roto Rooter.

I wanted to take a moment to write a review for Z and Z. My mom referred them to me several months ago. A couple weeks ago I had occasion to use them for a tree root problem. Z and Z was excellent. From arriving on time to explaining everything, and recommending both short and long term solutions. As a homeowner of an older home, you like to have options in managing costs. Z and Z is on my short list. I will not hesitate to contact them again. I also found their fees to be at market rate, but their efficiency and knowledge was worth it. And they didn't play around. They got right to it and were in and out in about an hour. Now I know why Mom recommended them! If you're looking for a good, reliable plumber, give them a call.
I don't know what has happened, but this business has disappointed me one too many times. I had used them a year ago and they were reliable, but recently they sent out a guy who literally didn't know what he was doing. There was no way he was a plumber. Then I had them come out to give me a quote on replacing a shower pan. I called THREE times to ask about getting the quote. I NEVER received a call back. Completely disappointing and frustrating. Why are you in business if you're out sending out qualified people and never return a phone call.

I called Z and Z Plumbing when my water heater needed repair. Within 20 minutes of calling the office, two repair men were at my home and quickly gave me an estimate. After giving permission to precede with the work, they completed the job within 20-30 minutes. They were quick and professional and I would definitely use them again in the future.
This is a large family owned business, I point out the large part because it's helpful to call a company with more than a few truck if you need something done asap. We had an emergency fix for a pipe that burst, the sewer lateral, that the city was going to fine us for if we didn't get it fixed asap, Z & Z plumbing came out and diagnosed the problem and then called in another truck that had the gear needed to fix it. I've hired them for a smaller job since then and not only did they stick to the estimate but also fixed another leak in the same room free of charge.

I called because we had a drainage backup at our house The washer was overflowing through the spill out and water was coming out of the clean out on the side of the house as well. It was slow draining out of the bath tub and making a loud Thunk Thunk noise after a bath with a very slow drain. The water also started coming up through the tub when the washing machine was draining and that was when I knew it was bad.
I called over the weekend leaving messages and with Superbowl Sunday they were probably swamped. I called again Monday morning and they answered.
They responded that the technician would be here around noon same day Monday.
They called back again to inform me the technician was finished early with another job and could come sooner.
He showed up. Ran the industrial sized snake. That didn't do the trick. Told me they could schedule a camera visit but it was most likely sludge build up and that a water jet would be the best step. He had to go back to get the trailer with the water jet. When he returned he did the water jet and done. Drainage problem solved.
They did a great job, were honest about the prices and it was reasonable and fair.
I didn't catch the guy's name or just forgot but he was about my age and a Raiders Fan. He was polite and personable. He made it a good experience. 5 stars and I'll call them again.
I'm a Salesperson myself and very hard to please so take note these guys are solid.
We called them on a Sunday afternoon, and we received service in less than 1hr. It was a simple and quick fix, and great service.
Unfortunately, no one showed up at the scheduled day and time, nor did I receive a phone call to say they wouldn't be there.

Z and Z Plumbing just finished a mandated sewer-lateral replacement for all mid-rise buildings like ours. They were very professional, very knowledgeable, courteous, easy to work with, and charged a very reasonable price compared to other bids I got. By 2021, all mid-rise buildings in the East Bay area have to have this work done. I recommend Z and Z without reserve.
I would highly recommend using Z & Z plumbing for your sewer issues. My shower was backing up. The smell indicated it was the sewer line. I called Z & Z Plumbing. They scheduled a visit, showed up on time, noted that I didn't have the ideal clean-out access, showed me a camera view of the roots causing the stoppage, snaked the line, and gave me an estimate for replacing the original clay tile lateral sewer line using the trenchless system. When the shower backed up again, I agreed to have the lateral sewer replaced and proper clean-out installed. While waiting for a break in the rainy weather to schedule the job, they snaked the line again at no charge. The work was done efficiently and neatly, all with proper permit. The pavers and broken cement were replaced. All dealings with Seif in the field were professional. He took the extra time and effort to crawl under the house looking for a proper pipe clean-out. All administrative dealings with Jay in the office were professional.
(The only minor suggestion for improvement I have would be to let me know ahead of time when the work was scheduled to be done. Of course, this is much better than having to call multiple times to beg for the work to be done.)

The first time I used them, they were a referral from my normal plumber. They were great. They were fast, on time and clean. When I had a recent problem, I decided to use them. They called to tell me that they were running late. After they arrived, they told me that I need to replace the appliance. They said that the dispatcher would reschedule me for a couple of days later. I agreed to buy the appliance. When I did not hear from the dispatcher on the day of the appointment, I called. The dispatcher said that I would be scheduled between 2-4. When they did not arrive after 4:00 pm, I called the dispatcher. She said that she would elevate it an emergency and the plumber would call. The plumber did not call and I called the dispatcher again at 5:45. She said that the plumber would call. It is now two days later and I still haven't gotten a call.

Frustrated after calling around to a couple places for a fix I needed same day, Z & Z came to the rescue. I had a leak that continued after shutoff valve was closed, and was relieved when the friendly receptionist told me I could get same day service. I was called back by a plumber quickly and he fixed the problem quickly and reasonably. I'll definitely call back for future plumbing needs.
As a long distance landlord, I rely (or used to rely on Yelp) to base my referrals on.
I recently had a tenant complain about low water pressure in the shower. I called Z and Z Plumbing, and their rates are quite competitive and happened to be available at the earliest appointment date. I decided to switch out the shower head with a rain shower head as a desirable upgrade.
I was quoted that the diverter needed to be replaced.
Two days later, the tenant noticed water seeping out through under the carpet and into the common corridor. The diverter was obviously leaking and the culprit I suspect was Z and Z Plumbing and their sub par workmanship.
I have hired other plumbers as a long distance landlord, granted they might be more expensive, but have not experienced such a negative response. Although they fixed the leak free of charge, the water and moisture remediation, including removing and patching and repair portions of the drywall exceeded about 4k dollars! all for replacing a shower head and diverter.
I will not be calling Z and Z Plumbing ever again due to this negative experience.
Saif and his team are great. A family run business that understands the importance of service and good communication. Z&Z did my sewer lateral that was definitely not your normal job and involved a backhoe and excavating a good 15' straight down to the main sewer line, the job was done in 2 days as promised. Other miscellaneous plumbing work involving running water lines in the garden and fixing a few issues inside the house was handled in a timely manner and with the utmost professionalism. From the courtesy and politeness of the office team (Jay) to Saif, his family and his crew, these guys are top notch and price their work very fairly and competitively. I would recommend Z&Z without any hesitation.
I hired them to replace a sewer lateral in Oakland and it failed the first inspection, but passed the re-inspection. How I don't know because the building inspector for the whole rehab project came out four months later and said that the whole sewer lateral needed to be re-done due to negative slope. They had to do additional work which I paid for but they didn't invoice me correctly. After four separate conversations with their book keeper, I never got the corrected invoice for tax purposes. This company lost me time and money, two things I don't have.

These guys are my saviors. I had just been through another plumber who ripped me off, then went MIA. Sife and Clayton gave me a competitive quote to finish the job and repair the other plumber's leaky work and were able to start earlier than most of the other plumbers I spoke with.
Sife is one of the bosses there but he was on site personally every day making sure things were being done properly and doing quite a bit of the work himself. When I was concerned about something he was on site within 24 hours.
When all was said and done they didn't turn around and try to charge me a single extra dime over what was quoted, even though I know there were a few unexpected things they had to do along the way to get the job done right.
These guys are reliable and quality, and their prices are very, very fair.

Z & Z Plumbing has now done 3 separate jobs at my house & I would use them again. Every time I've called they've been able to come to the house and give me an estimate quickly, and even do the job the same day. Their prices are reasonable and the work is high quality. They replaced my old galvanized pipe to my main line on the street, did a drain clearing for my toilet and took out my old garbage disposal in the kitchen. Sal and Seif were professional, friendly and extremely competent. I would recommend them to anyone.
After 2 hours searching online and breaking a small part of the bathroom sink faucet when I tried to fix it myself, Laurel ACE finally told me that we should get a plumber.
Called and Seif showed up the next day. He was very patient and tried to make sure he understands the entire situation before doing any works. The faucet is running smoothly after half an hour! Estimate was reasonable and the final cost did not go over it.
I would not hesitate to recommend Z&Z to my neighbor and friends and it is always great to support local business. 5 stars!

I recently had a toilet ring that failed in my main bathroom, so since I dealt with Z and Z Plumbing in the past, I went ahead and called them to come out and fix this issue. They came out the next day and fixed the ring in the toilet, no more leaks...
However, that night, we had a major issue with the sewer line which caused the sinks, tub, and toilets to backup. I called Z and Z Plumbing again and they came back the next day. They snaked the sewer system, but didn't find anything that could have caused the issue. So he left to get the jetter system to blow high-speed water down the sewer line to flush it out! The jetter system completely cleaned out my system all the way to the main sewer line running under the city street. How did I know, Seis used the video camera to show me the sewer line all the way out to the street (85 feet)!
After all this work, I can say the cost was 1/2 what others would have charged me! I highly recommend Z and Z to solve any/all your sewer problems.

very disappointed with Z and Z plumbing. they came out yesterday to give me to give me an estimate on replacing my water heater for my small 4-unit apartment complex. the guy said he would call me with the estimate once he got back to his office so he could price some water heaters I never heard back from him. never again will I call Z and Z Plumbing. I will stick with using mr. fix it right plumbing services.

Plumbing work is expensive but this outfit charges at an astronomical rate. This was my first experience with them and I will be looking elsewhere for future plumbing work. They get two stars for punctuality (they arrived within the allotted two hour window) and for fixing the problem, which was a corroded fitting that prevented the flow of cold water into the bathroom faucet. The original diagnosis (which drove the price) seemed dire and involved a return visit to cut into the wall to get at the blockage. Two technicians showed up subsequently, replacing the nipple (without touching the wall) and flushing the line which--altogether with a visit to the hardware store for the part--took less than forty-five minutes. The cost for swapping the part and unblocking the line was a mind-boggling 450 dollars of which 400 dollars was itemized as labor, 50 dollars for parts.
We called those guys in emergency today as we had a flood in the bathrooms of our company. They came in less than 45 minutes, were courteous, treated us like we were their best customer even though it was a first time and fixed our problem in two hours for a very very affordable price. Thank you again, you are now the first on our list to call if we have another problem. I recommend them to every one.

My call was answered promptly. My non-emergency was scheduled for less than 24 hours later. The plumber arrived at the beginning of the window. Jamie was great - courteous, answered all of my questions, and fixed my under-the-kitchen-sink leak quickly. I would definitely use again or recommend to others.
I've called them on multiple occasions and like always Demarcus comes through. From leaking sink, low pressure in the shower to rebuilding a water heater. He always calls and completes the job fast. I recommended them 100%. Keep up the good work.
The plumber that I normally use doesn't respond in a timely fashion so I was forced to look for a new plumber recently. Had a sewer lateral line that needed to be updated from clay to plastic. Jimmy from Z and Z was the lead salesmen who traveled out to my home to inspect the horrendous work that was done by a previous contractor. Jimmy stated on a Monday that he could send a crew out to perform the work by Wednesday or Thursday. Usually when a company says this it's almost automatic that they will be there later than sooner. Not in this case. Jimmy and his crew arrived at 8 AM sharp on Wednesday, performed the work as stated in the contract and completed the work in 1 day. Their employees were polite and explained the process to us, cleaned up the work area and the other contractor's mess, and sprayed down our walkway and sidewalk to clean off the mud. House is looking WAY better. Words can't describe how happy and relieved we are!!! EBMUD compliance certificate was pulled by Jimmy and sent to me in 2 days. I highly recommend Z and Z definitely deal with Jimmy if possible.
I had an awful week trying to find someone to come out and fix our rentals' bathroom sink! Between the renters work schedule and all the busy plumbers I called, we could not get it to work! We had what we feared might be a major leak in the crawl space beneath our house. Z & Z Plumbing sent someone out the same day that we called. He quickly diagnosed the problem (thankfully, a relatively minor issue) and let us know how we could fix it ourselves, if we preferred to go that route. Major points for being upfront and honest about the extent of the issue, as well as for providing detailed instructions on self-repair! I know my strengths, and plumbing repair is not one of them, so we opted to have them repair the damaged fridge water line. The technician fixed the line and moved it to avoid potential future damage. He was fast, friendly, honest, and on time. I would highly recommend Z & Z Plumbing!

I am a landlord for a house in Oakland and my tenants complained of a smell coming from the bathroom. I called my regular plumber and he came out and said it was nothing or I could do a very expensive smoke test to see what they could find. Pretty much left me hanging. So my tenants called Z and Z to come take a look. Well just let me tell you, Seif and his crew came out quickly investigated the situation. we went step by step and found the leaking pipe that was in a wall.
They immediately fixed the leaky pipe and are coming back to sheetrock. This is what I call customer service. By not leaving me hanging like the other plumber did, Z and Z plumbing will be getting all my work in the future. They not only do a job great but at the best prices in town. You would doing yourself a disservice if you didn't give them a try. This is one happy customer.

Called Z&Z and arranged to have a plumber out to my house to complete three jobs. I was told I could actually get the work done the day the plumber was scheduled to come. I took a day off work to be home and someone showed up, said he wasn't the plumber (took a lot of pictures), but the plumber would come today. No plumber came and I never heard back...even after I reached back out to him. Z&Z wasted my time and now I have to go through the process again.
Jimmy came out right away to help with a hot water heater issue. Free consult and good advice. Will call again in the future. Thanks for good service.
Kitchen sink was leaking. Called, spoke to receptionist who was very nice, she had Jimmy call me in 10 mins. 40 mins later he's at my house fixing the sink. Very responsive, quick and quality work, clean, and great service by Jimmy and the receptionist. No doubt I would use ZandZ again.

We had Z&Z plumbing to my house to plumb a wall mounted faucet in our kitchen and realign the sink plumping. Zeif and his crew were great. Respectful Friendly Professional and easy to work with. They even took off their shoes before entering (although I didn't ask!). I had a question and they came right out to check their work. I highly recommend Z&Z Plumbing.
Z & Z helped me! Specifically, Sal did. Main line clog backed up two bathrooms on Sunday. They came out at 3pm on Monday (I had to go to the office in the a.m.) and were able to get at / remove the troublesome roots after going at them from two angles. Sal thoroughly explained current issue and likelihood of future problems - along with possible solutions. Very professional. And clean up was more of the same - very nicely done. I don't recall the second fellows' name - he was just as hard working. I will give these guys a call for future plumbing needs.

Tried to have a hot shower and only cool water came out. Checked the water heater and realized she was dead. Tried calling 10 or so plumbers on a Saturday morning
and only got recordings. Finally Z and Z Plumbing responded, gave me a quote and
DeMarkus showed up one hour later with a new water heater. It only took an hour to replace the old one. DeMarkus charged me a fair price and didn't pad any for being
a weekend. The rest of the day, I got calls from the other plumbers who told me they were glad I was helped but they couldn' t have come anyway.

Someone called me at 8 this morning asking me to retract my review. I don't remember getting a name but he stated I should retract because they came out for my sister to complete the service the following week. She went through the same process of calling but she actually got an appointment and they didn't drop the ball. They did not complete the service, the first plumber came out did nothing and referred her to contact Chan who never came. My review reflects my experience with the company. I was not present during her 1 appointment, she ended up going with another company who actually did the service. She's fine with the service SHE received from the company that completed the service (it wasn't ZZ because Chan never contacted her back after she called him). I didn't get the same level of service she received, I didn't get a quote or an appointment. He said I was offered additional services because they asked for pictures. I think the picture idea was great because he can see the items but it didn't result in a quote or appointment.

They gave us a reasonable quote over the phone and came soon after we called them. Upon arrival, a truly polite son and father duo got right to work. They taped and blocked off the area which had a leak, so minimal dust would get transfered elsewhere. They're also quick and good at what they do. Everything was cleaned before they left. We will definitely use them again for future plumbing needs. But hopefully we won't have anymore plumbing issues :)

Called for service in the morning and two hours later answered the door to get a minor leak repaired. The plumber was professional and efficient. The rate was $120 per hour. I gave him my credit card and he wrote down the cc# on both of our receipts. This was last week and I still don't see the charge. The service was great but don't like the feeling knowing that my credit information is somewhere in a stack of papers waiting to be processed. This is how identity theft happens. Just sayin'
I've had trouble hiring plumbers for small jobs. I tried Z&Z a few weeks ago after reading their reviews on Yelp. I had a water heater that needed some repairs and they addressed the problem really quickly, got the job done on time and for a reasonable price. Other plumbers hadn't even called me back by the time the job was done. I'd use them again and can say they are worthy of the good reviews from others.
These guys are the best: reasonably priced, on time and very responsive. They have helped me out of countless jams, mostly providing same-day service, and always stand behind their work. This seems to be the year when everything breaks, I've hired Z & Z to replace two toilets, regrade part of the sewer line to prevent back-ups, replace a valve under the sink to get ready for a new dishwasher, etc. No job too big or small for these guys. Every employee has been friendly and courteous. They actually answer their phone! Also, it is a family owned, Black-owned business and, even though it's now in San Leandro, all of the guys grew up here in the town. That means a lot to me. They treat me like family, in a good way!
I got a same day appointment with these guys for a kitchen sink leak. Said waited patiently for me for 20 minutes while I was with a client. He was not bothered at all and showed me what the problem was with the sink and what to do if I had an issue in the future. In other words, I am now able to fix the problem myself if the leak starts again. On top of everything, he didn't charge me one dime. Honesty, integrity, and professionalism go along way. I highly recommend these folks. The real deal.
I needed a broken underground water line repaired quickly and Z&Z responded in a timely manner, assessed the job, and had it fixed in a short time period. Seif and DeMarcus are both professional, personable, and easy to work with. Everything wasn't perfect the first time and they happily came back out and put in the final remedy.
This cousin-and-cousin plumbing team extraordinaire has come to our rescue three times now, and every time we have been completely satisfied with their work. They arrive on time, are perfect gentlemen, charge reasonable prices, and most importantly, get the job done effectively. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

I came downstairs to a leaking mess raining from the kitchen ceiling Friday morning. DeMarcus called back right away and got a temporary repair done quickly to give us water for the Memorial Day weekend. A few days later he returned to replace the aging galvanized pipe with a proper copper supply line. There's still a gaping hole to sheetrock, but we really lucked out on this one. Z & Z's prompt service truly saved the day.
Showed up on time, gave me an estimate, and did the work. (A previous plumber hadn't done a job correctly so I needed someone to fix it and the damage it'd caused.) When he went over the time estimated, he only upped the price about 25% of what it should have been raised!
Excellent job, and I will be a repeat customer for this winter's upcoming bathroom reno!
Demarcus is the best! He was able to diagnose and fix a problem in 15 minutes for less than the competition quoted. The job was easy, fast, and inexpensive.They are on speed dial for this old house. Thanks so much!
These guys are super responsive. I needed a new toilet installed and the old one hauled away - they came exactly when promised, made sure that everything was working, and did the job for a lot less that I had feared. I will use them for all my plumbing work from now on.

We had a perfect experience with Z&Z for sewer lateral replacement. I called and they came to property the same day to create a quote, emailed a very competitive quote same day, looked at the weather and scheduled replacement for the next day. They were here all day yesterday and worked quickly to get the replacement and compliance inspection done the same day. Every person we worked with at Z&Z was super respectful.
EJPlumbing has fixed a leak in our pipes on one occasion and cleared our sewer line on another. I am very happy with the quality and efficiency of their work.
A relative of mine referred me to Z Z Plumbing. We needed a plummer to come out to snake a pipe from inside the house. They came out on Friday. After snaking the pipe, it was established that they would have to snake the pipe from outside. So they came back on Monday with a machine to snake the outside pipe. They completed the work. They did an excellent job, cleaned up and the price was very reasonable. I would recommend Z Z Plumbing to others.
Clayton, DeMarcus and the team are great!! They completed a complicated sewer lateral for me and just recently I called them in the morning with a broken water heater and that afternoon I had a new one installed and working wonderfully. They always follow up with a call to make sure everything is working correctly. Polite, professional, on-time, fair pricing, friendly - can't ask for more. Thanks guys!

Z&Z Plumbing replaced the sewer lateral on our 1920s home. They offered more than just a competitive quote-- they were able to schedule the work promptly and completed it quickly. My contact was Clayton, who was professional and a great communicator. When a problem arose, he kept me in the loop and still finished the job in the time frame promised. First experience with this company wasn't so bad - sure they were late, went over their estimate and left a mess but the price was fairly reasonable (relatively) so I called them back to get an estimate.
I was told I'd receive the estimate by email and never did - after leaving four messages with no response (including getting a call back from a systems admin informing me their online system wasn't redirecting) I've given up on this company. Are they still in business? It's hard to tell when you can't reach them. I'm happy to revise my review if they ever resurface but I'm not holding my breath.
Z and Z Plumbing is fantastic..They've done three jobs at our house, and each time their service is quick and effective, prices are reasonable, and staff are friendly. We couldn't be more satisfied. We've been lucky to have Demarcus each time, and I'm always impressed by how knowledgeable and down to earth he is. I'm also incredibly grateful for how quickly they are able to come out on the same day. I trust them completely, and that's not something I say often! I highly recommend them.
We had our bathroom remodeled by a couple of guys who didn't know what they were doing. As a result, we had a leaky tub and only slightly water coming from the shower. I called Z and Z Plumbing based on Yelp reviews. They were able to come that same afternoon and and fixed everything that was wrong within an hour.
Dee Marcus came out this morning, on the earlier end of the one hr. window I was given, to fix our non-operating hot water faucet in the kitchen. He was pleasant, quick and thorough. I would definitely recommend them.
Amazing!! That's all I have to say. Called them for a sewer lateral estimate. They came 2 days later, started work immediately and finished as promised. They are a few thousands cheaper than my other estimates. I will definitely use them again for any plumbing needs.

I had a toilet situation that I needed handled ASAP! Called a few different plumbers, and went with Z and Z because they were able to come out that same day. Every single person I spoke with at this company was polite and professional, from the receptionist to the contractor who came to the house. Z and Z had the lower estimate, significantly lower than a very recommended local company, to rehook up pluming after kitchen counter installation. It turned out to involve more than anticipated and they were very informative, helpful, prompt, efficient and accommodating. Very friendly too. I would DEFINITELY use them again and recommend them to everyone.

Besides doing excellent work, I find them always on time, respectful and very pleasant - the neatest plumbers I've ever had - never a mess left behind. They installed a new shower head and valve - had to cut through wall. when through couldn't even see where the hole had been - matched paint perfectly. Have them do other jobs for us. Very satisfactory.
Started out 2015 needing a lateral sewer repair. Got two quotes and went with Z&Z Plumbing to do a 100' trenchless line from the front of my house to the City's sewer line. Also wanted cleanouts in a couple of places and a backflow put in, plus EBMUD inspection (good for 20 yrs.). It was really a production (2 days) as the hillside is about a 40 degree slope and they had to pull the plastic pipe from the top down to the street. The crew members were all great, friendly, helpful and did a great job putting everything back together, including a small rock wall. Clayton, the PM, was great throughout the process. Now I have a sewer line that will outlast me!

I realized I had a leak in a drain pipe and based on a referral, I called Z&Z. They responded quickly and they did clean work. The plumber was nice, professional and up front about costs. The cost was reasonable and he did not go over his quote. We were pleased with the work done and would hire them again.
Z & Z was recommended by our homeowners association website. I have been employed by a homebuilder for 34+ years and Z & Z is without a doubt one of the best contractors that I have ever experienced. Great prices, owner (Seif) answers the phone or returns your calls immediately. Just had them re-pipe including some remodeling of an entire large 1929 home including a new water heater, new sewer line and water service. He passed City inspections the first time every time with compliments from City Inspectors. Flawless. Do not use anyone else. Save yourself the headache and some major money. He's the guy for my next remodel.

Tai and Will helped repair our sewer line problem. Our problem was a bit odd, involved a wall, and wanting to hold off on a long term fix for other reasons.
