I previously used this company in August 2020 and had a fantastic experience. I called them again in December for a light install and was told they were on holiday break until January but Tom said he would see if he could get someone to come out on 12/29. I followed his directions and texted him pictures of my job but he never responded. Fast forward to June I call again about the same job because I have time over the summer to get it done. Tom is very nice on the phone says he can fit me in on 7/5. I once again follow directions and text him the details on 6/29. No response. I follow up with text and calls multiple times on 6/30 and get no response/sent to voicemail. At 9pm on Saturday 7/1 he texts me back and confirms Wednesday 7/5. Come Wednesday 7/5 no one shows up to my place. 15 minutes past the window he told me, I both call and text to reach out and see what's going on and get No answer or response. Nothing. Seems like this is becoming the norm for this business so I just wanted to share to hopefully save someone else from wasting their time like I did.

UPDATE: Tom reached out to me a few times Thursday 7/6 and Friday 7/7 and offered to complete the job quickly and to make it right. I was already working with a different company when I heard back from him so I did not take him up on it. Overall I did really appreciate his efforts to make the situation right and since my experience in August of 2020 was so positive I would definitely consider them again for future projects.

Instead of simply providing me with a quota, they went above and beyond by offering troubleshooting advice, which fixed my problem w/o coming! I am truly grateful for their assistance

I needed to install smart switches. I normally DIY this stuff. But this time I was dealing with a 3-way switch at a house built decades ago and the wires were all black. Hence I decided to reach out to a professional. Dinh from TD West electric was quick to respond and was able to accommodate within short notice. Andrew came out the next day and installed the switches. I highly recommend TD West for their prompt service.

We hired Dinh and his team to upgrade our subpanel, install recessed lighting (with and without attic access), add dedicated wiring for a kitchen island vent hood, and add two outlets for bidets. He offered the most competitive price**, but ultimately, you get what you pay for.

Dinh came for the initial consultation. He seemed very knowledgeable as we showed him the various projects we needed done.  We asked him when we could expect his quote. He let us know he would try to get it to us over the weekend, but might not be able to until Monday. That's fine. Monday morning,  he texts and lets us know he will send it that day. Then we don't receive the quote until Tuesday afternoon. I should have heeded this red flag, but there were many 5 star reviews, so I took a chance. The quote mentioned he wouldn't be available until the following Friday so I emailed him letting him know I wanted to move forward and Friday worked for me. Then crickets. I hear nothing all the way up to the day before, so I finally call TD West Electric to see what's up. They confirm that we are on the schedule, which yay ok, but no confirmation email? No information about what time they are coming? Luckily, we had already made arrangements so my husband could work from home that day just in case.

The electrical team is prompt,  clean, and they work diligently all day. Unfortunately, due to some miscommunication, it appears that someone drilled a hole in the wrong place through our crown molding and drywall. Darren was upfront and took full responsibility, he let us know he would contact Dinh and that they would work out a solution with us. Besides this minor mishap, we have no complaints about the electrical team. They labeled the subpanel cleanly, recessed lighting looked great, they even answered my husband's questions and gave him tips on how to install our Arlo doorbell.

After the electrical work is finished, they send the texture guy. My husband always rushes to get to the house before the usual start time at 8am. Texture guy doesn't show up until after 9am, no heads up about the later start time. He spends the entire first day putting down plastic (which we appreciate) and then heads out to buy something. Comes back 2 hours later, works a little, and calls it a day. Before he leaves, my husband checks in to ask what time he plans on coming the next day. He replies: 8am sharp. OK. Next day, comes in again after 9am. Listen, we don't care what time he comes in, but it was inconvenient to hustle over and end up waiting in an empty house with no furniture or internet for over an hour. Otherwise, he did a fine job patching the drywall and applying the texture, but after he removed the recessed lighting fixtures a few times to get the texture right, they no longer sit as flush in the ceiling, which was not ideal. Also, he textured over my sprinkler which I wasn't super happy about.

The main issue we had was the repair of the accidental damage. Dinh did not come to assess the damage himself, I had to send him a picture of it to ask about the plan. He reassured me that they would work with us on a solution until we were satisfied. It seemed like he delegated the repair to the texture guy, who patched the crown molding with wood putty and that part actually looked great. The problem is that he took a piece of the wall to paint match, but it's near impossible to match a 20-year-old paint job. He then painted a rectangle over the previously small hole (now bigger because he had to take a sample of the wall to match) and we now have a much more noticeable mismatched paint patch on our wall. On our final walk through with Dinh, I show him the paint job and he agrees that it is not a cosmetically satisfactory result. He seemed doubtful that his guy would do the paint job and almost seemed to insinuate that we had asked him to do it outside of the contract because he doesn't do paint, but ultimately tells us he will sort it out with his guy. Then we start getting panicked calls from the texture guy after 9PM to discuss solutions. I thought it was inappropriate for Dinh to punt the problem to his subcontractor when his team was the one that caused the damage in the first place. In the end, Dinh offered a reasonable solution, but the whole process was unnecessarily stressful.  

Overall, electrical work is decent, communication could use improvement, may require more handholding than you expect.

Service requested spoke with Tom and he had a plan to replace my kitchen lights. However- his customer service and communication is horrible after the initial first call. Wasted my time not responding to my text messages and follow ups. Asking him multiple times - nothing ghosted me. This is not the service I was looking for on a simple job. If he can't communicate and call / text to update a customer... just WOW!! Stay away from this joker. Unbelievable!!! Can't believe he couldn't call or text - takes 2 minutes to update and communicate to your client/customers. I would have been sympathetic and understanding to his situation - but if I have to chase you over and over the disrespect comes with facts !!! You didn't care about me and my problems- why should I care for yours !! STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!

With the Bay Area getting hotter and for longer periods of time, I needed to do something as my house gets hot! Ideally, I'd like AC but with the big cost of getting one installed along with upgrading my electrical panel, I figured 2 ceiling fans would do the trick for now.

I contacted the electrician I used before (about 3 years ago) but unfortunately, on vacation for a month. Decided to use TD West Electric on a friend's recommendation as work done was seamless and reasonably priced. Sent a message via Yelp and received a response back within an hour to have 2 ceiling fan installed (one needing a new junction box), a door chime replaced (yeah old school but until i decide which smart doorbell camera i want) and switching light fixtures from one room to another.

Salvador came out to do the work and was on-time, professional, respectful, friendly and did the job quickly, cleaning up after and removing all packaging from the area. A personable guy and good conversation. :) The above job took about 2.5 hours at a fair price.  

About an hour after Salvador left I noticed one of the fans wasn't turning on. I called up TD West Electric and Tom explained (non-judging and patient) the remote and the switch.....duh! Realized for that particular room, the wall switch was off and needed to be on for the remote to work. Um yeah. thanks Tom! :)

Usually get great service. Started with no show or call to explain delay. Technician opened difficult track light box without checking for wire. Almost impossible to get back in box. Now one technician spending an hour to install one porch light. Tom was very apologetic about the situations and addressed my concerns.

I recently worked with Dinh and his team for a ceiling fan installation on my patio, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the very beginning, Dinh was incredibly responsive and helpful via email, answering all my questions about mounting the fans to my stucco ceiling. He took the time to review the photos I sent, and provided recommendations on the best approach for running the surface mount conduit outside the stucco.

The electrician who came out for the installation, Darren, was very professional. I wanted to install a NEMA 14-50 for faster charging in my garage for my Tesla. I reached out to a couple of companies to get quotes and ended up going with TD West Electric.

Dinh was very responsive, and we were able to schedule something very quickly, and they have a competitive quote. Salvador helped with the installation and was in and out in an hour. It was a pretty straightforward job since my electrical panel had space and I just needed the installation on the other side of the wall. He added the outlet, patched up the wall, and everything has been working great!

It took a lot to finally get them out. The day scheduled I couldn't get hold of anyone. Once they did come out it was fantastic. The rep was professional, knowledgeable, and tidy. The price was more than fair.

I recently bought a Generator for emergencies and needed to upgrade my old Sub-Panel with a new one with an interlock kit to accommodate this new addition. All of Dinh's employees I worked with have been professional and advised me on each step of their installation. When it was time for the City of Pleasanton inspection to approve their work, they were there on time to stand-by while the inspection was completed. I enjoyed working with Dinh, the owner, who was always available to answer any questions I may have asked. Also , I was not oversold on additional costs associated with parts not really needed. His quoted prices were also very reasonable compared to other quotes I received by other companies. I would hire this company again for any electrical needs.

Dinh and his team (Jose, Jorge, Salvador and Joseph) did an amazing job on my renovation.  They're efficient, honest, friendly, responsive, knowledgeable and reasonably priced.  Dinh provided me with an estimate before work began and advised me as to whether I needed permits and how to get them.  They made the electrical safe for the building of my new custom kitchen island.  Afterwards, they rebuilt the electrical and installed new receptacles (for the dishwasher, garbage disposal, reverse osmosis and instant hot water dispenser) as well as outlets.  His team also installed 2 bidet outlets in my bathrooms and wifi light switches and USB outlets throughout my house.  I will definitely call them again in the future.  Thank you Dinh.

I try to get how to fix my outdoor outlet issue. Was told to try resetting other GFCI in nearby area. after I reset GFCI inside restroom, it works.
Will mark here as my top choice next time.

We wanted to change our old electrical panel and rewire our electrical wiring.  We settled for the electrical panel and put a hold on the rewiring due to COViD protocol Dinh came to my house and checked what we needed.  He submitted a quote and we're satisfied with the price. Once we set up a date for the job, Dinh texted me and assured us that the job will be done And his electrician is safe and fully boosted. His electrician came and did the job in one day. He covered the place with a plastic tarp and cleaned the place once done. Dinh came over during the day and checked the work and mentioned to me that the old house don't have a ground wire from the main panel to an electrical panel. He recommended and I was obliged to add the wiring at a minimal addition to the cost.
The panel I have installed has additional circuit breakers and can add if I wanted to upgrade my electrical wiring.
The job needs a permit and Dinh made an arrangement to file. Dinh said that they will be present once the inspection is set. Dinh hasn't responded yet on when the inspection will be done. I will be awaiting this process and expecting this to be done in order.
We still have additional work to be done inside the house. Once we feel it's safe for his electrician to do work inside the house, we will proceed and complete this work.
I gave him 5 stars because I think he works professionally and follows up on his work.

I reached out to multiple business gathering quotes for a panel upgrade. TD West were one of the best prices I received so naturally my consideration for them was high.

Tom was the person that I spoke to, the level of excellence in terms of communication is flawless. He is very responsive and often checks up on progress and provides updates. His team which consist of George and one other were the same way.

In terms of duration from start to finish, I am satisfied. I do not think others understand that often times the delay is caused by PG&E. With that said, Tom handled everything in terms of obtaining permits and working with PGE.  Highly recommended from a true yelper.

I had Dinh's team to rewire my newly purchased 1950s house back in May. The main reason I chose them was the top reviews on Yelp and they proved that again. Dinh met me in person for evaluations first. He showed up on time and gave me the quote in a day. The team started working couple days later and they took care of all permit application, county communication and wiring design for me. All I had to provide was proof of my home ownership. The team lead by Edgar were very responsive, polite, knowledgeable and showed up at work almost everyday. The job was done with quality within two months. They also have good warranty and fixed minor issues for me couple months after the work. I would highly recommend it to anyone look for house rewire in Bay Area.

The person who came to our home, Andrew, was professional, quick, and had great attitude. Communication with the business was great. We are a condominium complex in Fremont.we had some problems after the rain with lights going out. I called T. D ELECTRIC  and they came out and fixed the problem in one day!!!!
We also had another electrical problem with lighting in one area that's been out for 10 +years. They ( George and Andrew) came out today and found the problem and fixed it.
Over the years we were told that we would have to dig up the street to fix it....NOT TRUE.

Had TD West Electric install a new level 2 outlet for our EV car and replace the electrical panel in our house. Wonderful experience from start to finish. Price was fair and installers were beyond professional. Walked me through step by step, respected my house and followed full Covid measures. I can't recommend them more. So a little different from my usual review because, well, they don't serve food, but I'll try to keep it concise.

Task: Upgrade main panel (Federal Pacific), replace subpanel, and other small electronics.

I requested quotes from several different places in October and decided to go with TD West because I just felt I trusted them the most and they gave me a competitive price. Weren't the cheapest, but definitely very competitive.

Dinh was very communicative for the most part. Every person that come to my house was very courteous wearing booties and a mask so thumbs up on that.

Initially, the original estimate of when the project would be done was about 1-2 months, but it ended up being longer than that, but that's okay because we weren't in a huge hurry to switch over. So a slight inconvenience but didn't disrupt our day to day lives.

First 2 days, 2 guys came out and started setting a ton of things up and started switching out the old subpanel and setting things up for the new panel.

Next time, a single guy came out and finished patching and finishing up the subpanel.

Next time, city inspection. This process was a bit long because it was nearing the holidays.

The next step was to get PG&E to come and switch over to the new Main Panel. This was done with no real issues.

Last step is, we just need to get the final building inspection and we're all set to go!

Overall, very happy. I wished there was a little more communication on what time everything was going to happen. We over-shot our initial estimated time to completion by about 3 months. Luckily that didn't affect us, but that may or may not have been in part due to permitting etc. Outside of that, I really appreciate everything that they have done and how they always answered my questions I had when they were doing the install.

I would recommend them but also warn them that it may take longer than the original estimate. Even though it did take longer than expected, the original price quoted is what they are charging me so I'm very happy with that. If I have other electrical needs, will most likely be calling them again.

I almost choose him for a Tesla charger project but then he stop to response after I send him messages multiple times to confirm some details.  Not responsible vendor at all.

There are less and less businesses who are honest, trustworthy and not totally out to get you. These guys are in that shrinking minority.

Outside of scheduling (which was worth the wait), the job done was flawless. They had the next best quote, higher by $50, but it was worth it.

Arrived on time, done very quickly and overall very respectable and friendly. I know that it's shocking to give someone five stars for basic civility that everyone should have, but it is the age of social media after all.

Thank you TD West Electric and Team for being so flexible in accommodating me with the install of my EV charger. The install was painless and professional. The entire process was smooth and with no up selling. Others I have contacted wanted to have a site visit before giving me a quote. Communicated with order from the get go, sent pix of my breakers and panels, gave me the price, and we were good to go.

Highly recommended and will use again for other future needs.

Unfortunately I wish I was able to give them -5 stores because this is really not good customer services I gave them a call last week he told me he could squeeze me in next Friday on the 17th and he will come around eight or nine but when time came they did not show up plus they did not give me a phone call and people probably asked me why did I not give them a phone call what was the reason for me to call them basically they need to call me if something was changed in our appointment

They were great from start to finish. When they came in to do the estimation for our project (CAT-6 cables and extra power outlets), the guy did detailed measuring and really tried to see how the wires would go through the wall. Not only that, but he made the effort to help me understand all that the project would entail, how many holes would be made, and what the challenges would be, which I really appreciated, as it not only gave me a much better understanding of what it would entail, but it would also gave me a lot of confidence that they could get it done, which was well founded.

The actual work started, and the professionals were awesome; they were professional, kind, and really seemed to care about their work. They took precautions with laying out plastic mats everywhere to keep the mess from drilling and cutting to a minimum, and we ended up with not much to clean up afterwards. It was also a nice touch taping up the holes between the two days of work so we didn't have gaps in our walls for the night!

The end result was also great! Everything works perfectly, and the patching work is fantastic; better than I expected! They were methodical in the holes they cut and they ended up needing to cut less than expected (they said there was some luck involved with how the house was built, which is bonus integrity points as far as I'm concerned). There was great transparency and patience shown on their part.

Very happy with this company, and will definitely have them in mind next time I need any sort of wiring or electrical work in the future.

Update: they got back to us and made their error right. They ended up not charging us for the fix of the sump pump. I appreciate them considering the situation fully and rethinking the charge. In the future I hope they're more transparent about these situations.

The work itself from this company is fine. We got out entire electric redone by this company and overall it's fine. We have had some issues with workers making mistakes, putting holes through our floor unnecessarily, and breaking some of our kitchenware while doing work. Ultimately the reason for the low rating is the lack of transparency. While having the electric redone, our sump pump was disconnected and the outlet for it was removed, without our knowledge. We were never informed and during the winter rains our basement flooded multiple times. When we asked this company to fix this issue, they charged us because they claimed it was not part of the original contract. Even if this was true, it would be prudent to highlight that when discussing the work, considering the risk of flooding. Overall would not recommend this company for large scale projects.

I contacted Tom based on the reviews here, Tom was very responsive and answered all her questions we needed to install a replacement dining light over the dining table, and he was able to fit us in his schedule the same week in a few days. The person that came out to install the light was Salvador and he was a sweet person and install the light with no issues, and helped with the old light to break down and we discarded. We are happy with the installation and it was quick and easy, it was $250 for the first two hours which it took less than two hours to do. If you need an electrician I would call Tom at TD West Electric.

TD West Electric did a great job for me. I needed two kitchen lights fixed and a ceiling fan put in the bedroom. The kitchen lights needed new bulbs and possibly new ballasts after 3 years and always in disrepair, Dinh suggested getting LED light fixtures and I did find the same fixture design for the kitchen. The fan was installed in the bedroom with a remote control and works perfectly.

Great service, reliable and efficient. I needed the light fixed in the hallway. The electrician was precisely on time, and it took him less than 15 minutes to check everything.

We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and needed some electrical work done.  I originally contacted another highly rated company on Yelp to do the work.  I accepted their bid and did not shop it as we were under a tight deadline.  The company sent two guys to our house on 2 different days. Both times they were here for over 12 hours.  Their scope of work included installing 7 recessed lights, moving the electrical box for a new chandelier, installing 2 motion/flood lights, installing two outlets in the kitchen with a dedicated circuit, and replacing an exterior GFI outlet.  After 24 hours of work in our house, we still had a bit work we needed done, but they could not get to it in time, so I went back to Yelp and found TD West Electric.  I wish I found them to begin with!  We had a quick Zoom call with Dinh so that he could see what we needed done, he quoted us a price and scheduled the work for 3 days later. The work included two dedicated circuits, one for microwave and one for washer, and an additional recessed light.  While they were here, we decided to add an additional dedicated circuit for our range, and to install an outlet in the master bedroom.  Two very nice young men (Darren and Jose) showed up at 8am and were done and gone by 4:30. They were quick, neat and did an amazing job! The best part is they patched/textured the hole they cut in the wall to wire the dedicated circuits, and even patched/textured a hole left by the first company! Since the first company told us upfront that they would not patch the holes they cut, I just assumed that would be case with any other company I called. All I can say is WOW, what a nice surprise!
We were having some issues with lights pulsing after the first company left, and the day after TD West was done, I texted Dinh to ask what he thought it might be and told him that I was going to call the company that did the work. He offered to send Darren back out to troubleshoot the problem, which was amazing! How many companies do you know of that offer to send someone out to look at a problem that they did not create! To be honest, after seeing how impressive the TD West team was, we had little confidence in the first company.  Darren spent probably an hour or more troubleshooting the issue, but unfortunately the problem could not be found and I plan to reach back out to the first company, since they created the problem. In short - if you are looking to have electrical work done, TD West is the company you should call.  Our house is 78 years old and will need to have the wiring updated in the future - when we are ready to tackle that, TD West Electric will be the only call we make!

This review is overdue. A few months ago, I wanted to get some electrical work done in my home. After talking with more than a dozen electricians for estimates and thoughts on the work I wanted done, I decided to go with TD West. I worked with Dinh and he let me know his team could do everything I needed (other electricians said installing one of the light switches I wanted was going to be too hard to access, to run wiring). In the end, all the work was completed on time and within budget. I installed outdoor lighting, outlets (inside and outside), a fan, recessed lighting, ground wiring, and multiple switches.

Most electricians will probably end up doing the same good quality work but what set TD West apart was their really competitive price, attention to detail and communication with the installation, and most importantly, working with Dinh. He was easily accessible by text or phone, easy to talk to, and patient when it came to answering my questions.

I think the best compliment you can give to a business is by being a repeat customer and with that being said, I won't hesitate to work with Dinh and TD West on my next electrical project.

Overall, we had a great experience with TD West.

We had a few outlets stop working in a room, and the breaker for that room did not trip. It was important that we got it fixed fairly quickly given that the space is highly utilized.

We reached out for quotations, and Dinh was very fast in responding to our request alongside a few other good electricians in the Bay Area. The difference was that he also suggested a few things to quickly check before booking him to see if he could save us some money. While those quick checks did not fix anything, the quick thinking in options trying to help us was a preview of how his technical Sal worked while he was onsite.

While they got hung up on a job before coming, Sal did show up within the expected time. He walked in with his utility belt, shoe covers, and tools ready to go. There was zero waiting or extraneous discussion. He was professional and jumped right on the problem and figured out what was wrong within about 15 minutes. The entire experience was smooth, and he finished up in 45 minutes.

As a consumer, I feel it is important to make aware that the minimum labor was 2 hours, and that was what they charged me at a rate of $250. While I probably could have shopped around for cheaper, the result was what I wanted.

As for areas to improve? They are small:

-- I would suggest that their technician brings a small vacuum in the future to clean up debris from removing the wall trim for some of the outlets. He did not clean that up, which is not a big deal, but it would have been nice given the rate
-- I misunderstood that since the labor was 2 hr minimum, that Sal would be showing up to help from 10am-12pm. Instead 10am-12pm was the arrival window, which is why I was sitting around wondering where he was at 10:20am. Not a big deal, and luckily I had carved out extra time.

Like I mentioned at the start, overall, this was a great experience, and I would use them again!

Dinh is very responsive and is a very empathetic guy when it comes to his customers. He's provided suggestions/guidance for me for two projects I've had - considering our house is a bit on the older side, we really appreciate having a professional provide some guidance/tips on what can be done. We've had two projects (one done, one near completion).

- We had electrical extended to our backyard back in late 2020 / early 2021
- We are currently underway getting our main panel re-done and updated from an old school fuse box while adding an EV charging port

Every time work is done, the team is always kind, helpful, and do efficient and clean work. Can't really ask for more than that. Overall, I definitely recommend TD West Electric for any future electrical projects - they're a very dependable team and know their stuff!

I recently had 24 recessed lights installed at my house by Dihn and his crew. I had gotten quotes from several other local electricians but I felt that Dihn was not only an honest person but from his reviews, he did amazing work.

During the installation course of this project, Dinh's crew discovered that our house's old wiring system (knob-and-tube) was still running. He called me right away and explained what the circumstances were. Rather than surprising me with additional costs, he told me he'd continue to honor the quoted price. That to me spoke volume as to the type of person he is.

Great experience with this company. I needed some wiring work to be done for a new hot tub installation. They were professional, knowledgeable and gave me a great price for the work to be done. When Tom came out to do the an initial evaluation of my townhouse, he gave me suggestions as to how I could be creative to save me some money and really worked hard to provide me with options. The original quote was for the work to be completed in one day and the work took two days to complete and the original quote price was still honored. I'm super impressed with Tom and his crew and would definitely do business again with them.

Was looking to get GFCI outlets installed and a plug change for washing machine. They were on time and did the work with utmost professionalism. While working, they gave suggestions on other possible electrical issues and even fixed one which was not part of the ask.

I was looking to replace my old sub panel, install a Tesla wall connector and run a new 50 amp line to the back of my range since I was replacing my gas range with an electric range. I found this company on Yelp and it had a lot of good reviews which is why I went with them. The whole process started back in Jan 2021 when I spoke with the owner Dinh. Appointment was set for 4/7/21 and I didn't get any confirmation the day before so I sent him a text confirming for the next day. He said he'll be there with a few of his employees in the morning to show them what needs to be done. The day of he says one of his guys isn't able to come so he needs to reschedule it to 4/8 and then also tells me he's not going to be there because he's going to be in SoCal. 2 of his guys show up and seems like they don't know what to do, so I basically had to tell them. They started the work on the Tesla wall charger and they assumed they were installing an outlet and not a Tesla Wall Connector (again no instructions were given to them). Dinh didn't even ask me what type of EV charger and just assumed it was an outlet. After the guys finished at the house, one of guys used the hose to spray down his car and left paint all over the handle of the hose. Then they asked for the payment. Dinh never told me that payment was due after they were done because the contract also included permits so the entire scope of the work wasn't complete. He said he forgot to tell me that 70% is due. At this point he was telling me to just pay and I told him I'll pay when I have the permits. After a lot of back and forth he said I could pay after the permits are done. So time passes and still no updates. I texted him on 5/10 and he tells me there's a min 2 week for the city to look at the application. It's 6/10 and our microwave started tripping. I messaged Dinh and he said he would come and take a look. 7/13 he comes and on his way over he texts me to prepare him a check for the 70% of the service that we ALREADY agreed I would pay when the permits were done which they still were NOT. When he arrives he sees that one of the breakers was installed incorrectly which was causing the microwave to trip. So he replaces it and then continues to pressure me to pay him. I started getting really mad because he was going back on his word about being ok with paying after the permits. Then went on to tell me that a lot of his other customers pay in full and that his company makes a lot so my payment isn't going to impact his business, but why was he being so pushy about it when his entire work wasn't even done? He finally said ok AGAIN that he would let me pay after the permits. On 8/20 he said he finally got a hold of someone from the city and that they told him his business name and address didn't match the system... he said he normally does work Alameda county and the city is so easy and was complaining about Santa Clara county.. maybe you shouldn't do business in SC county then? You should be more professional about that if you plan to do business outside of Alameda County.. just saying..

Finally they schedule the city inspector to come on 9/21 from 8-5pm. The inspector comes for maybe 5-10 minutes, signs the permits then leaves. I gave the payment to Tom (the other owner) and he says he'll email me a copy of the permit. When I get the permit only 2 of the 3 items were listed on there.. another mistake.. so I message Tom and he's not even aware the 3rd item was suppose to be included.. so here we are again waiting for them to schedule another appointment for the city inspector to come out. 9/21 the inspector shows up to inspect the 50 amp line installed from my garage to the back of the oven in the house and he asks how's he suppose to inspect it if the walls are already patched up? He says the walls need to be re-opened and there needs to be fire caulk along the line.. Unbelievable right? Shouldn't the company know to keep the walls open for the inspector? So now the inspector has to come back a 3rd time after they open up the walls and add the fire caulk which they didn't even do in the first place... fire hazard right?

So now they schedule another one of their employees to come open up the walls again and add the fire caulk on 10/28. Inspector comes 11/1 and finally approves the work. 8 months later.. I would expect that a verified license electrician would know the bare minimum processes like submitting permits, inspector requirements, not to patch up the wall the inspector is going to inspect.. granted after all of this they gave me a discount for ALL the inconveniences, however that doesn't solve the dreadful experience I had. If Dinh was professional, communicated better and didn't DEMAND the payment when the entire scope of the work wasn't done, I MAYBE would've had a different experience. It makes you question the honesty of the stars/ratings they actually have.

I needed a 20-ft circuit run for a heat pump water heater in my garage and decided to get quotes over Yelp. TD West had good reviews and after asking me for a few extra photos, quoted me a fixed price. A few days later, they sent a technician Edgar who brought the special breaker I needed for my old panel, installed the circuit without much trouble and tidied up when he was done. Along the way, there were a few decisions where Edgar asked for my input, which I appreciated. All in all, a good experience. I would definitely use TD West Electric again.

We'd had a few recessed lights that had gone out out, where a wiring issue needed repair.  Dinh was very responsive and sent an electrician to us in a couple of days.  The electrician immediately saw and understood what the problem was and completed repairing the lights in a timely manner.  He was very skilled and was conscious in cleaning the work areas after the repairs were done.  The invoice was sent promptly, so we didn't hesitate in paying for the service.  Great communication and professionalism - I highly, highly recommend them!

TD West was amazing! I contacted them for a quote to have some ethernet jacks run and a 220v outlet put in the garage for the EV. Dinh called me via Facetime so I could perform a walk through and show him the locations for each of the network jacks and 220v outlet.

He was great at working with me to schedule the date/time that worked with my schedule. I was blown away that the 220V outlet was run in the wall in the garage where I fully expected it to be done via conduit. Price-wise it was absolutely outstanding, so much so that I didn't hesitate to agree to have the work done.

What impressed me most is their focus on customer service and excellence, taking time to lay plastic down on the carpet and taking great care to clean up the drywall dust and any mess they made, but also take the time to patch and plaster the couple of holes they had to cut to run wires easier. For those who are concerned, they did indeed follow safe distancing, wore masks the whole time, and were very respectful of both our home and us.

Had 13x 6 canless recessed lights installed in 2 bedrooms and the living room of a 2nd floor condo in a 3 floor building. Clean cuts in the sheetrock and they also installed 4 dimmable switches for me. Some sheetrock dust leftover but that's to be expected with this kind of job. Overall great work

3 light switches and the outlet for my living room TV mysteriously stopped working in my home on a Monday, with nothing obviously wrong with the breaker. I found TD West via their good reviews and reached out asking for someone to come figure out what was wrong. Dinh responded quickly and offered to come out the next day. When he got here he was friendly and got along great with my pets, and quickly went about trying to figure out what was going on. He explained everything he was checking for and we also discussed electrical work I had planned for the future and what he'd recommend.
In all he spent about an hour here opening up outlets and switches, checking wiring, and testing grounding. Eventually he found the solution, a loose wire, and he easily fixed it.
He even tried to not charge me because he had not told me that him coming out could result in a bill, which I thought was very thoughful and considerate of him but after I insisted his bill was incredibly reasonable for an hour's worth of exploratory work. Needed a 220 for the new Tesla.  After sending photos, got a reasonable quote over Yelp messages.  Technician arrived on time and completed the work quickly and efficiently.  This should all just be expected service from someone you hire, but needless to say I was pleasantly surprised.  Pricing was very reasonable as well.  I feel other places give you a zip code surcharge...

Dinh and his team did a fantastic job on installing 3 GFI outlets.   I had contacted Dinh via Yelp and within a day, he came to my house to review what I needed.   We discussed the project, the location of the 3 GFI outlets and the possible work needed.   He contacted me a day later with his proposed schedule, less than a week later which worked for me.

He had Sal come out and install the 3 outlets, one in a upstairs bathroom, one in a downstairs bathroom and one outside.   Edgar came the next day to finish up the work and did a fantastic job.   Both Sal and Edgar wore their masks as well as respected social distancing.  

Dinh and his team are focused on giving you the best work, quick to schedule as well as making sure that you're happy with the work and performance.   I will definitely contact them again if I need any additional electrical work in my home.

I called TD West because electricity  went out in our living room outlets. We checked our electric panel in our garage. The breaks are all fine. Tom took the call, and actually troubleshot the problem with me over the phone. It turns out we have two electric panel. And we only looked the one inside, not the one outside. And the circuit break controls the living rooms are outside. After flip it, everything back to normal.

Tom established that he was trustworthy early on. I messaged him and a few other electricians about an issue with an outlet in my bathroom. While the others started detailing their minimum rates to come take a look, he diagnosed it with a simple fix.

Next I asked if he could install a pendant light about 18 ft. high. His team member Brandon came the next day at 8am, and sized up what ladder would be needed.

He is very thorough in his work and took time to show and explain the outdated wiring and fix them to make sure it was up to code and safe.

We just recently went through the ordeal of having our electric dryer break with a need to replace it.  For background, we have an older (~50 yr old single story house).

To keep a long story short, we went through a couple of replacement dryers.  The first one was delivered, but when we went to use it, it didn't have any heat to dry (it did the spin cycle fine).  A second unit (same model, brand new replacement) was sent, this was installed, but this one also didn't produce any heat.

At this point, we figured we needed to do a little more investigating, so I used Yelp to do a quote inquiry with 4 total companies to try and help us.  I sent out my quote request in the morning.  TD West Electric was one of the three that responded in total, and they were actually the first one that we made contact with.  Tom gave me an initial quote where they would come out to do a diagnosis, which could then be credited to any work that would need to be accomplished.  I was actually able to schedule Din to come to our house that same day after I got off work, so that he could use his volt meter to see what was going on.

He was methodical about figuring out our issue, which at first required him to switch off our 30A breaker at the main box to then remove the dryer outlet and to probe at the wires directly in the back of the outlet.  From there, he got a solid measurement on one leg (the expected 120V, while the other leg was only reading ~20V).  With our older house, we have aluminum wire, and it was pretty apparent the condition of this high current wire was reaching its end of life.

From there, he isolated the bad wires with the twist wire crimp connectors, to make things safe.  He gave me an estimate for the repair, and two methods that they would try to employ.  Luckily, he was able to pull new copper wire through the conduit that was already in the wall.  We got a new breaker in the box as well, since the original was in bad shape.  We have a crawl space under the house, so running the wire down through there to the electric box was the other option they would have used.

Overall I had a great experience with them, with our unfortunate circumstance of needing electrical work done.

Tom replied to my fan installation job request within two hours of the job being posted  on yelp with a quote, and was available to schedule out the job within the next two days!
His technician Erik arrived on time, with a mask and booties was very professional, kind, knowledgeable and flexible to work with. He worked tirelessly to install 5 ceiling fans and control switches. He kept me updated on his progress, made sure the work met my expectations, and made sure the work area was clear of debris when the job was completed.
I would DEFINITELY recommend TD West Electric and will not hesitate to  use them for any electrical needs we may encounter!

After that first time, I've since used them two more times and they were much more accommodating with their service.  I will keep using them for my electrical needs and wouldn't have any doubts to refer them to others.

Tom is one of the nicest people, so genuine and helpful. He came to our house multiple times to troubleshoot the problem in the most cost effective way, though he could have just suggested the most expensive option as the first option. He explained what he was doing every step of the way and made sure we understood. He also waited for PG&E, so they could inspect his work. Highly recommended, don't hesitate to give them a call.

I called Tom to request a quote to get 16 recessed lights, 4 each in each room and 3 ceiling fans, and mount a tv for my new place. He gave me a quote and availability right away and we decided on a date for the work.
On the day of work, Eric and Edgar showed up at the house right on time and got on with the work soon after. They were very professional and about 6-7 hours later, they were done. Everything we asked for was done to perfection and they cleaned up everything in the rooms and even left it cleaner than how it was before.

Really glad I found a reliable and professional electrician in TD West.  They were very prompt on my inquiries to install a 220V line in my garage for my EV charger.  Dinh came by for a site visit and gave me a competitive bid. Great service! I had some issues with my power going out intermittently in a couple rooms. Came out early Monday morning and checked my panel and swapped two of the breakers. So far so good. We also discussed upgrading the entire panel in the future. These electricians are beyond great.  Last  night pg&e turned my areas electricity off.  When it came back on only-`part of my house was electrified. Although it was labor day they returned my call within a few minutes and asked me to send pictures of the electrical boxes.  They immediately diagnosed the problem over the phone.  The switch that turns the generator /pg&e was in the wrong position and on resetting it as directed everything worked fine.

Nothing but good things to say about this place and Tom the electrician. I had several kitchen plugs go out last week and couldn't figured out myself on the cause. I called around all local electricians and got the run around with pricing. No one would give me a straight answer on what it would cost me.

Tom from TD was different. First it was Tom himself who called me back and not a receptionist. Second, Tom told me his minimum charge and said it would likely not go beyond that. This was great for me because at least I have a baseline on the cost.

The day that Tom came out, he was on time and he was extremely friendly. Tom found the problem within 15 mins and fixed the problem under an hour. Tom also addressed a plug that wasn't installed to perfection and he corrected it without addition charge....he definitely went beyond what I called him for.

We also discussed other jobs I had in mind and Tom gave me an exact dollar amount on what labor would be. This was important to me because I hate going into a job and not knowing exactly on the cost.

Just an update about my previous one star rating on the company. The owner reached out and explained why he thought his technician had solved the problem of the mysterious short on the jacuzzi outlet when it was not quite the case. He felt that since his technician did not properly diagnose the problem,  he has wavied the charge. I felt that was the fair outcome since they have missed the mark. I give the company credit for admitting the mistake and tried to make it right.

My husband and I just moved into our new house and I needed an electrician to come out on super short notice to add power outlets to the middle of my wall so I could mount my TVs and have no wires and cords showing.  

I called many electricians and I don't know what it is but they are all so rude and impatient!!  When I finally called Tom,  he was so incredibly patient and thoroughly explain everything he would need to do to my wall and electrical wiring in order to achieve the cordless TV mount look I wanted.  Tom is very knowledgeable with all things electric, and he really wanted me to understand the process.  

He also knew I needed this done ASAP before my TV was delivered and mounted,  so he fit me into his schedule by coming out suuuper early (before sunrise lol) and he also gave me a very competitive price!

So happy we found our new go-to electrician, and we'll definitely be using him when we install light fixtures and our home security system soon. Yay!

My experience with TD electric went smooth. They arrived right on time and wore masks.  I had them install recessed lighting in my office. They were in and out in 2 hours.  I would definitely call them again for any future electrical needs.

In all honesty, I lost faith in the hopes of finding a good reliable contractor for anything building related. Over the past few years, the work that I've been doing on my house and my parents house, everyone that I've hired has fallen short of expectations. Most haven't been anything major, but the minor details have always been promised but ended up lacking. This is not true TD West Electric.

Short version..

Beginning to end everything was great.  I have found my new go to electrical company.  The only negative I have to say about them is that they don't landscaping or bathroom remodels.  But we all know that life just isn't that easy.

Long version..

I reached out to quite a few companies on yelp as I always do since a few don't respond and others tell me they are booked or I'm outside of their area. TD West was one of the later companies I contacted but the first to respond. Tom responded and we spoke on the phone. He was concerned with what was going on with my electrical system and said he would need to do a diagnostics of what is going on so he can give a proper solution. Only company to suggest that without me insisting. His brother Dinh came out for the inspection (mask, gloves and shoe covers on) and broke everything down for me and after inspecting my system, voiced his concerns with what was going on and came up with a solution, which saved me a ton of money. Which was instead of rewriting my house, just run dedicated wires to the areas of need. Together we decided on the scope of work and he gave me his price. He told me about his experience and his team and how he runs his business and operates.

I had another electric company come in the next day to give me pricing. They were cheaper, and I probably would have hired them if it wasn't for the extra step Dinh took to diagnose my system and give the recommendation to save me probably 75% I'm costs, but costed him that much in potential profits..can't give enough respect for that. But what really won me over was the way he spoke of his team. I did have my guard up, since I've heard it oh so many times before, but this time he really seemed genuine. So I hired TD West. They even moved a bunch of things around in their schedule so that they can accommodate an earlier date for me since I was in such a need.

The day of the job, Brandon shows up, we do a quick walk and he maps out the project. Brandon, was the star of the show.  I changed the scope of work quite a bit from the walk through that Dinh and I did,  but it did not phase their team one bit.  They even called in Tom and Sal for reinforcements to make sure it was complete in one day.  An added plus (would have been the 6th star), they ran a wire from the main panel to the inside of my house so that I would still have at least some power while they worked.  No spoiled food in my fridge, and manager off my back about productivity.  

Tom switched out my panel, and he did a great job doing so.  He didn't have much room to work with but still was able to build a fire box around the new panel and run all the wires. After it was all said and done, Tom stuck around and walked me through all the work that was done, and left me with a recommendation on replacing the sub feed cables, and a future project for replacing the main panel.

We had several outlets in our kitchen which had stopped working some time ago.  We had an electrician in to look at them several years ago and were told that it was very complicated and could not be fixed.  I figured I would try again with TD West.   There was a small snafu with scheduling, but Sal did arrive within my window and was very quickly able to identify the problem and fix it.  TD is now my go-to Electrician!

Tom was very professional and did a wonderful job fixing both of our chandeliers. Highly recommended. Will gladly call them again for any of our electrical work.

They did a great job of installing a new sub panel in our home and replacing some outlets. Only took one day and a very fair price for the work done. Very responsive crew and professional.

We recently used TD West to rewrite our newly purchased home and upgrade our panel before move in. Dinh and his team were extremely friendly and helpful. Dinh offered several great suggestions which we really appreciated (like an outdoor outlet under our eave that has a switch inside for Christmas lights). They also did a PERFECT job on aligning the recessed lighting. Covid slowed some of the inspections down, but Dinh kept us in the loop on all updates. His team always showed up wearing masks which we also appreciated. Overall 10/10 would recommend TD West to anyone in need of an electrician.

This business has good reviews but they told me they don't know how to wire a coax cable from the outdoor electrical box into a coax outlet in my living room. I think they just don't want to handle this simple project.

These guys are awesome!  I've contacted several local electricians on Yelp for recessed lighting installation, TD West contacted me back fast.  Dinh came to my place for a quote, he fallowed all the safety measures for COVID-19, and gave me an estimate at the spot.  He found out some things were not up to code and suggested a better plan. The estimate was reasonable, and scheduling was fast as well.  I was told it would be a 2day-work, but the first day 6 guys came and started working, and ended up finishing most of the work on the first day!  They covered the whole house with plastic so I didn't have to move a single furniture.  I loved how nice and fun the crews were, and their attention to detail and great skills and good team work!  I had some last minute requests, and they were flexible and made it happen no problem!  Also they cleaned and vacuumed afterwards too! Oh also, I loved they patched all the holes they made for the electrical work, also even matched the texture of the existing wall!

Dynh did a pretty good electrical work for our newly bought house. He was skilled with dry wall electrical work and also made sure he patched the broken dry wall too. He changed entire sockets and switches, installed 11 recess lights, 2 fans and a chandelier. Definitely will contact him for any future work.

Worked with Dinh for an electrical upgrade from an old 100A panel to a new 200A panel. Communication was great. Dinh was fast and responsive. They took care of the city permit while we took care of scheduling PG&E. Their pricing was in line with most of the other local contractors.

Had a wonderful experience with Tom/TD West Electric with getting a NEMA 14-50 240v outlet installed in our garage for EV charging our Tesla Model 3.  Tom's guy came out on time (actually early) and got everything installed in a timely and professional manner.  It was also a pleasure contacting Tom as his response time to my inquiry and questions were super quick.  I am now getting 30 miles per hour charge over the 5 miles i was getting with the standard 120v outlet.  I would not hesitate to contact TD West Electric again if i needed any other electrical work done to my house.

I had a big project to install 30+ recessed lights, a new outlet and new switches in the bathrooms. Tom and his crew were very professional and courteous. Some ceilings seemed challenging as they were vaulted, however the crew were able to handle it with minor ceiling repair. And it was a plus that they did the sheetrock repair and texture. The job only took 2 days, plus about 2 hrs on the 3rd day for some easy texturing. The professionalism and communication were outstanding and the quality of the work was great. Electricians are hard to find! Tom was very professional and very patient with me our outside outlet hasn't worked for a while. Salvador came to the house figured it out, bigger job than I expected but I have a working outlet outside for our decorative hanging lights! Salvador left working area clean, stayed on site until I arrived. Salvador's customer service was awesome, he went the extra mile to make sure I was happy and satisfied. This is a late review for Tom and his team, they are just amazing! We just bought a house and there were lots of things need to be done, Tom helped us put up 2 chandeliers and 4 flush mounts and 4 recess lights, he also upgraded all the outlets in our house. There was so much work that they had to come back the next day to finish it. They are also very considerate, during those 2 days I got a few phone calls from them asking for my preference and simply just giving me updates. Tom really knows the best, you just need to tell him what style you want, and he'll make them all happen when you get back home. Definitely will recommend!

TD West Electric responded promptly to my request for service. I spoke over the phone with one of the owners, who was personable, clear, and a good listener.  Their price was very reasonable. There was a communication glitch on the day of service, where the electrician who came on site failed to communicate with me and instead went straight to my tenant's unit, but that was resolved. The electrician worked quickly, figured out the problem, and all was resolved! This was for a small problem but I will definitely return to TD West Electric when I have larger electrical needs.

Contacted TD West Electric for a quote on a job involving evaluating my kitchen remodel for GFCI protection after our last contractor failed to install any. Additionally, we wanted to add 4 recessed lights in a bedroom and already had the LED lights and switch. Dinh responded quickly to my request and we discussed the job. Dinh was obviously knowledgable and ran through the possible scenarios for me. After agreeing over the phone to his quote, Dinh confirmed availability and the job date was set. An employee other than Dinh promptly showed up on the day of the job. Masked and he removed his shoes during the job which we appreciated. He placed plastic on the floor of the bedroom where he installed the recessed lights and after evaluating the kitchen, installed several GFCI receptacles where needed. My only reason for deducting a star is with all the dust created from cutting the holes for the recessed lights, the electrician tracked drywall dust all over the kitchen and living room floors as he walked in and out of the house and worked on the kitchen. The electrical work I'm satisfied with. The mess without offering to clean up, not so much.

I am glad I found TD West Electric. Tom took care of me when I needed someone that is trustworthy, and he was also willing to negotiate on price. I had him change my electrical box and install an AC disconnect outside my home without drilling any holes on my roof and he did just that. Like most other electricians that came to see what my project needed, they were stating that holes had to be made on my roof which I did not want. I am happy with the work Tom has provided me. I will be calling Tom for all of my electrical work I need in the future.

I needed some help getting an outdoor outlet installed on my patio. Tom came by very quickly and provided a reasonable quote, along with his very friendly demeanor. A few weeks later when I was ready to get the work done, he scheduled me quickly and send a very nice electrician over who did a great job in under an hour. Tom from TD West Electric was incredible in helping us uninstall our dishwasher. We hadn't realized it was required prior to Home Depot installing a new one (because it was hard-wired) and were in a bind. Tom gave us his time over the phone in an instant and ensured we could do the job ourselves with his guidance immediately. Tom did an excellent job. I was doing a small kitchen update and ran into a problem with an electrical box and he came out immediately on a Saturday morning, gave me a quote, and the job was completed by Monday. He went above and beyond to help with electrical needs and even gave me a few pointers for the rest of the kitchen update. He is trustworthy, reliable, efficient, and I would recommend him to assist anyone with any electrical job.

Tom is very punctual, professional, reasonable and caring. I requested a quote from him a day before (Saturday) received a call within minutes. Tom came the next day (Sunday). I've never received service like that on a weekday. I would highly recommend Tom and his company to Everyone I know and hope to have him around for the future.

Tom has been easy to work with and very accommodating since day 1. He is very friendly and knowledgeable! He worked with my scope to get everything done. I had him install dual meters, a new panel inside and a new breaker box. His team also installed new wiring to get rid of some old knob and tube wiring. He did all of this at a reasonable time and was very responsive throughout the process from start to finish. I can't recommend him and TD West electric enough.
