SFE Electric

After calling several companies for a quote to install a level 2 Tesla wall charger in a multidwelling unit in Alameda, I decided to go with SFE Electric because owner, Pedro, gave me the courtesy of meeting me in person and explaining the process and the possible challenges for my specific situation. It is not always the case that one is able to deal directly with the business owner, but I found Pedro straight forward, reasonably priced, and honest. In similar situations, I've had other contractors completely ghost me, this was not the case with Pedro, who would always respond within a reasonable time frame, keeping me updated through the process throughout. His employee's work was efficient and clean, and installed exactly to Tesla's specifications. SFE is fully licensed, insured and bonded. Important if getting a county rebate. Pedro personally submitted the calculations with the county and pulled permit, he arrived again on inspection day, which of course passed with flying colors. It's such a nice thing to have a reliable, communicative and honest electrician close by, thanks Pedro!

I checked out all the reviews on several different electricians and was impressed by SFE's ratings and comments. I hired them to replace old kitchen balance lights, old over the sink light and a dining area light and replace it all with recessed lighting.

I can say all the 5 star ratings were spot on and I added mine. Great work, communication, timeliness and a fair price. Pedro was efficient and responsive and very easy to work with and talk to. I will use them again! I'm so pleased with the lighting and their service. I can highly recommend SFE to anyone.

We needed two sub panels replaced in our home due to a known defect with the brand. Because we knew this would be a costly replacement, we called several electricians to look at the job. Pedro was by far the most knowledgeable and most pleasant to work with. He instantly recognized the issue with our old panels, he knew the electrical code better than others we spoke to (one electrician wanted to put our panel in the bathroom, which Pedro immediately knew would not pass inspection), and his pricing was reasonable - not the most expensive but also not suspiciously cheap.

The work itself was done quickly and cleanly. The crew patched up everything nicely - they even cleaned up holes previously left by less reputable electricians who have worked on our home. Pedro himself took the time to accurately label each circuit, which was a huge feat given the amount of stairs in our home.

All in all, we were very pleased with SFE and would recommend them to anyone.

I needed a Level 2 charger installed (got myself a Mini Cooper SE). I live in a townhouse community lol (lots of rules, strict HOA) also on the older side. Pedro delivered. He passed their requirements. He was very helpful and honest in his assessments. He even figured out a safe way to install the charger without getting the house rewired for a higher amperage panel (installing a DCC-12 unit). Or something to that effect (I forgot the electrical jargon he used lol). He took care of the paperwork, city inspection etcetera. You can tell that his company is very good because he seem to be in high demand. He is busy but he responds quickly via email and text (I don't really like phone calls who even does that anymore lol). Very friendly guy. Pedro is the owner but his associates are good too. Sorry I forgot the name of his associate. Found SFE Electric here in Yelp. Thanks Pedro. Great job!

Pedro did a fair amount of work on our house and was great through every part of the process. His prices are competitive, he knows the codes well, he has a relationship with PGE so has a good concept of what and how to get things done, does very clean work and does not mess around on pricing or costs... honest, hard working, and knows his electricity well! I wish some of our other subcontractors were this good.

We did a lot of work... Pedro moved a 100AMP Panel & all wiring from inside a closet to our garage, updated our box and breakers, replaced old & dangerous aluminum 110V wiring with copper (lot of attic and crawlspace work). Ran some new higher amp lines, moved exterior lighting boxes, installed a bunch of fixtures and motion sensors... also installed a bunch of LeGrande Adorne outlets/switches/faceplates which are not installed like regular devices. Probably some other things!

I initially contacted two other companies that had a large number of 5 star reviews. The first was crazy expensive, the second was slow to communicate with. At the time I contacted Pedro (maybe March or April of this year), he had a bunch less reviews than now (October). I was hesitant because it was much less than the previous companies, but Pedro's reviews were consistent in how reliable and good he was. I contacted him and heard back quickly and got on his schedule quickly. He has a number more reviews now!

They were very helpful and knowledgeable when it came to replacing my service main. They were able to point out some potential future issues as well (I have an old house with grandfathered electrical), and over all were pleasant to work with.

Initial thoughts: Got a quote from Pedro a few months ago and we were finally able to get started on the project due to delays on my part not his. He was very patient and explained things thoroughly. Although the quote was priced higher later due to inflation it was not terrible like others. He's very reasonably priced. When he comes over, he typically wears a mask and has shoe covers on him. He's been nice to our barking dog. I love how he gives us options and he's by the books to ensure you pass inspection. So far we're part way through with the electrical project and he has been very transparent. You can see the passion in his work. He's also been very receptive of feedback. I highly recommend this business. I can't wait to paint our house after this is complete. Will update with pics after it's done.

Pedro came and did the EV charger installation in my house. I lived in a condo complex so I would have needed to upgrade my panel in order to install a level 2 charger. Pedro was able to propose a way more practical alternative and now I am happily charging my EV at home. Straightforward pricing is a major plus as well!

Pedro saved the day! We'd been waiting for months to turn on our solar panel system but per PG&E, the main panel was not up to code and so Pedro and SFE Electric was recommended to us by the roofing company. We're glad we went with Pedro.  
He came by, knew all the codes immediately and what needed to be done. He walked through the house, examined all the panels, gave us an estimate of how much it would cost. We compared his estimate with two other electricians and it was comparable. Given the good word of mouth from the roofers, we went with Pedro.
He handled the permitting process. When it comes to working on the main panel, PG&E will disconnect the electricity to the house on an assigned day. He and his team finished all the work which included moving the main panel unit, re-housing another sub panel from inside the closet to the main panel, and doing a hard wire install for an EV charger in our garage all in one day.
He then came back to meet the inspectors when it was inspection time.  
Top notch service all around!
He did not go over his estimate either.
I plan on using SFE Electric for future electrical work.

Pedro installed 2 pendants above my island for me today in about 3 hours. I've been putting this project off for nearly a year because every electrician I spoke with made it seem like a huge undertaking to get power up to the ceiling that would require opening up the entire ceiling and multiple days of work.

I reached out on a Monday and he got me a quote the same day based off a photo. He was responsive via text and told me he could come on Friday between 10:30 and 11am. Pedro and his crew arrived on time and got to work. They covered my entire kitchen in plastic sheeting and drop cloths to keep everything clean. They hit a few issues with power to the switch but were well equipped to handle it without delay. To say we're  impressed is an understatement. Thank you!

We needed a vanity light installed so we requested quotes from highly rated licensed electricians on Yelp. Pedro was quick to respond, had the most reasonable rate, and scheduled our project right away. He was also able to easily accommodate when we added a floodlight replacement to the job. We sent him questions before our appointment and he was always quick, helpful, and friendly in his responses. Pedro and team showed up  on time, wore booties to protect our carpets and masks to protect our health. They were friendly and quickly installed our light fixtures. We are very happy with his work and would love to work with him again on future projects. Highly recommended!

Pedro knows what he's doing. He knew exactly what we needed before we even mentioned it just by looking at our main. We needed to bring our ADU and main house panels up to code and Pedro did an awesome job with our electrical work. He ran the lines under the house and in a trench to our ADU and was able to fix a few other issues along the way. He also installed a Level 2 Charger for EV. He dealt with PGE and the city to get us the final permits we needed. Pedro did a great job fixing some problems we had in our old electrical house at a very reasonable price. He was also able to come out within a few days after I contacted him, while I had some other electricians tell me they weren't even touching jobs this small. I would definitely hire him for larger jobs too.

Pedro has been a great help in our garage remodel. I admit I was wary of hiring a contractor with only a handful of reviews, but I couldn't be happier! Pedro and his colleague made themselves available on extremely short notice and did a TON of work all in one day. Pedro was professional, thorough, honest and knowledgeable about his trade. His pricing was fair and no corners were cut; he took the time to explain what would be up to code and what wouldn't and make recommendations to save us time, money, and headaches down the road. Most importantly, everything looks great and functions as intended. We had two chandeliers and a ceiling fan installed, among other things. Pedro and his team from SFE Electric are fantastic! Pedro is a licensed and insured electrician and was super professional from the start -- responsive and attentive. I hired SFO Electric to wire my whole condo for ceiling lighting in every room, and to install all the fixtures. This was lots of cuts and wiring work and several fixture installations. I got this all permitted by my city and also approved by my HOA, so that required him to fill out my city's paperwork and supply his business insurance info for my HOA. It also meant doing the work in two visits per inspection requirements. He did this all so promptly and professionally -- he really prioritized getting me the correct forms and info quickly, and he helped me navigate my city's permitting process since he knows how this all works and does it all the time. He and his team did a beautiful, perfect job. They were precise and meticulous w their measurements, and they put all the cut drywall pieces back in place to give the drywall guy a leg up! They very careful with my furniture etc. They contained everything and cleaned it up perfectly. They came promptly on time both days. And most of all, his prices were so reasonable and fair! He was also super nice. I feel like I scored big-time in finding them (another friend strongly recommended them to me!) so I wanted to pass on the favor! Pedro is our go to guy for emergency fixes or renovation work for our investment properties. Job is never too small for after hour emergency work or too big of renovations after our tenants moved out. He is very responsive and skilled at many trades other than electrical work. Pedro is basically my handyman for small job and general contractor for major renovations. Painting, plumbing, gardening and even a little interior design, he can do it all. Pricing is honest and fair as well.

Pedro at SFE is awesome. He handled EVERYTHING. I needed a panel upgrade and the panel had to be relocated. I expected it to cost a fortune and be a huge hassle. Pedro dealt with PG&E, worked quickly but thoroughly, and his prices were beyond reasonable. I highly recommend him. Do not waste your time or your money going elsewhere- Pedro is the best!

Pedro is an awesome electrician.  I vetted quite a few electricians since purchasing a house and he has been the most knowledgeable, affordable and most trustworthy at helping make my home safe after the previous owners installed illegal electrical work.  He is professional, hard working and shows up on time.  He installed new wiring and outlets in all of my bedrooms as well as fixed botched jobs done by previous electricians.  The work passed inspection with flying colors.  I hope to use him again soon.

We contacted Pedro this spring to ask for an estimate on some electrical work we wanted to have done. Now, at the end of the year, he has not only completely rewired our house but redone our kitchen lighting, added lighting on our deck, and done part of a kitchen renovation for us. WE LOVE WORKING WITH HIM THAT MUCH! :) Pedro is super-knowledgeable and straightforward. He got us competitive estimates quickly and stuck to them. He and his team kept the parts of the house they were working on usable for us (and cleaned up at the end of the day) and we were able to keep living in the house during each project with a minimum of disruption. Because our budget was low, he let us know which small parts of the pre- and post-project loose ends (non-electrical work like patching and painting) we could take care of ourselves to save money - and gave us tips that ended up making a big difference in how we started our next projects. We really liked working with Pedro! He showed up on time, updated some wiring issues, and did a variety of other lighting replacements (exterior and interior); and called the next day to make sure everything was OK! What we most appreciated is that he took time to explain things electrical to us novices, provided the options for us to consider, and made clear what was a safety issue needed fixing and what were optional items. Very happy with their work from start to finish.  Arrived on time, wore a mask at all times and finished the job in one day.  They installed two ceiling fans and fourteen LED recessed lights on dimmer switches.  Clean-up after the work was exceptional.  No flaws in the work anywhere.  We already have them scheduled for future work.   Consider them for your next project.

We have been working with SFE Electric Inc for almost 5 years now.  I was originally introduced to the owner, Pedro when he re-wired our 1922 home during a large remodel.  We then subsequently had him work on other various projects, lighting for the yard, repairing electrical work completed by   another contractor, hanging lights through out the house as well as adding lighting and outlets  in our yard.  Pedro has also completed updates to our bathroom  which included adding ventilation, additional lighting as well as a frameless show door, new vanity, sink and hardware and painting.  Pedro is very neat and explains the process through out. He arrives on time and is very considerate of your space and budget.  He arrives on time and when scoping a job he meets the dates given.  We will continue to work with Pedro and SFE Electric inc. as I appreciate him and his work.  When you find a company like this you add them to your files for a long term partnership.
