AVS Electric

I was referred to AVS by my friend who had them do electrical for their commercial space. My job was a simple one - track lighting installation in my condo, but Andrei from AVS surpassed all expectations in terms of both execution and customer service.

My goal was to hire an electrician for the labor and buy my own track. I reached out to 2 other electricians for quotes and got back quite variance in quotes. When I reached out to Andrei, his price wasn't the lowest, but what set him apart was that he sent me the list of parts I would need to buy, including links to Amazon listings. The total cost savings here were huge - I was originally going to buy pre-assembled tracks, where the retail markup was significant. Getting the list of parts from Andrei saved me a lot, not to mention he could have tried to convince me to have him buy the tracks and mark them up (like other electricians did).

When it came to the actual installation, Andrei realized the track we purchased did not fit perfectly with the lights. With my permission, he went out to find a replacement piece and found the appropriately fitting track. When it came time to settle out costs, I asked for the cost of the track, assuming I would return my old track and pay for the new one Andrei purchased. Andrei put the new track on the house, saying that it was his mistake for not sending me the right track. Really appreciated the high quality customer service here, went above and beyond what I've seen from other contractors.

In all interactions Andrei were on time, professional and polite and I couldn't recommend him and the team more.

Andrei is fantastic.  He has worked on two of my homes, one of them was a complete remodel from the foundation up.  He did all of the electrical and did a great job.  He's easy to work with, reliable, timely and fair in his pricing.  Unlike many subs, he is conscientious, asks good questions and makes sure you get what you want.  He is also highly focused on safety.  Based on the work product, my experience working with him, his reliability and his fair pricing, he is always my first call when it comes to needing electrical work.

Andrei was great! Friendly and efficient! He followed all COVID safety protocol. Would definitely use him again. He replaced our broken doorbell in minutes. Two thumbs up!

In 2015, we spent a year renovating our San Francisco Victorian. It was a big project which required rewiring the existing footprint, new wiring for new living space, and bringing in more power from the street. Our general contractor brought in AVS Electric to do all of the electrical work. They completed the project with quality and speed. Andrei is awesome. Our general contractor hired AVS to do the electrical work on a major remodel in the Inner Sunset.  Andrei did a truly professional job having to overcome challenges posed by PG&E and the difficulties inherent in doing major rewiring in an older home.  He was always there to address issues on a timely basis and come up with safe and creative solutions.   He explains what he is doing when you ask questions and knows what the Code requires.  He was able to work with City inspectors as needed.  I recommend him for any project that people may have.

AVS Electric installed a subpanel and ran new electrical for our residential kitchen remodel. I hardly realized Andrei was here during the installation because he was so quiet and tidy, but his work was impeccable! I wouldn't hesitate to bring him in again for a project of any size.

I used AVS Electric (Andrei) to install three ceiling fans (including adding power to the location, cutting the ceiling, installing switches, and assembling the fans) and a chandelier.  He was great at communicating - quoted me quickly, showed up on time, and was good about cleaning up after the work was done.  Andrei did a very professional job and I'd highly recommend him.  The work was done efficiently, within budget, and with a minimum of stress.

I did some remodeling and Andrei and Andrei have been excellent and professional.  I needed a non-standard color for some receptacles and Andrei searched high and low to find them.  As with most construction projects, timelines and plans were a moving target but Andrei was a great communicator and was flexible with change. Highly recommended!

Andrei is amazing! We had quite a big project with a very small budget and he was able to make everything we wanted work, on time and on budget! I have also referred him to friends and they have also been very happy with his work. He's super responsive and always willing to go the extra mile. I cannot recommend him enough!

Over the past 5+ years, Andrei has done a bunch of work in my house: completely rewired my kitchen, brought power to my roof deck, added lights to my kid's room, etc., etc.

Andrei is my go-to guy:
- Always responsive. Always picks up the phone.
- Goes out his way to get to you ASAP in emergencies.
- Does excellent work quickly.
- Reasonably priced.
- Leaves the place clean and tidy

What more could you want? Well, there is actually more. On top of all this, Andrei is a really nice guy.

There is no need to look further than AVS.

I needed an electrician for a small job--just to replace my old front steps motion sensor lantern with a slick new one. I called up a couple of other electricians before I reached Andrei, and both were booked up at least through the next two weeks (one was booked up for all of February!). Then I called Andrei (at around 9:15am), and he said he had a meeting at 11 but could be there at noon. Conveniently, his meeting was right around the corner. I asked him about rates and he said he'd have to look at the job, which is fair. I told him noon was fine but I absolutely had to be out of the house by 1:30pm, and he said OK, so I gave him my address and said come on over.

At 11:54, Andrei called to say he'd be there in 5 minutes. At 11:59, he showed up. Excellent--not only was he on time, but he called beforehand to confirm that he'd be on time! He took a quick look at my old lantern and the new one, gave me a reasonable price estimate, and said he'd be 15-20 minutes. 15-20 minutes later, he came in to show my the newly installed light fixture, recommended I caulk around the edges for weatherproofing, and gave a rundown on the different operation options for the new light. He was very clear in his explanation, the work looks great, and the light works perfectly! He switched the settings to what he thought would work best for my steps, and it's spot on--the light turns on as soon as I get 3 steps up (I have about 15 steps) and lights the whole area without blinding me.

I could not be happier with the work Andrei performed, and I am thankful to find an electrician who treats small jobs just the same as large ones!

Andrei made himself available to install a motion-sensor light for me on very short notice  He was wonderful to work with, from meeting with me to discuss the kind of fixture I wanted, to picking it up and then exchanging it for something better when I didn't really like the first one he got, to installing it, and then for following up to make sure it was working well.  I found his pricing reasonable and his manner terrific.  I will definitely be calling him again.

I've hired Andrei Smirnov exclusively, ever since I first hired him several years ago to replace my electrical service panel at my house in San Francisco.  When we moved to San Rafael in late 2013, Andrei was kind enough to come up to Marin to replace the old and dangerous electrical panel and sub-panel in the older home we bought, as well as to replace and rewire circuits in the kitchen and bathrooms that were far below code.  

Last month, Andrei installed recessed LED lights throughout our home, as well as two ceiling fans, dimmer switches, and electrical outlets.  He is great to work with, and offered excellent advice, while tracking down fixtures that were considerably less expensive than those proposed by the lighting designer that we had hired to create the lighting plan for the house.

I recommend AVS Electric with no hesitation whatsoever.

AVS service was prompt, polite and came with reasonable rates.

I had a pendant light and track light that needed installing so I called and scheduled an appointment - the day of Andrei called and hour before to confirm, showed up on time and had everything taken care of in no time flat.

Andreis and his team were fantastic to work with. We had to build all the electric for our space from scratch, so Andreis helped from planning through execution. It was our first project and he patiently answered all of our many questions. We're extremely pleased with the finished results. Anytime we have had any sort of electric issues since, he continues to be super responsive. We look forward to working with him on all of our electrical needs well into the future!

The contractor that worked on our kitchen messed up one section of our undercabinet lighting, and he never came back to fix it.  Enter Andrei at AVS Electric to save the day!  We got his name from Gary at KitchenSync who provided our cabinets (another great vendor!), and Andrei was professional and conscientious.  We had an appointment and he had to cancel because of jury duty, but when he was released early, he called immediately and said he was available to come to our house.  We were impressed!  He had to come twice because he needed another part to complete the job, but not only did he make the light work again, he even went above and beyond and made sure it wouldn't go out in the future.  We wish we had found AVS earlier, but now he'll definitely be someone we call for both big and small jobs!

The AVS ELECTRIC guys were on time, professional, hard working and courteous. The job was finished when and as promised. We were completely satisfied with the quality of work as well as the end results.

Over the last 3 years I've renovated a triplex in SF, and we've hired Andrei from AVS for several different jobs now. He's done everything from hanging lights to a total rewiring for a floor we gutted and completely renovated. Andrei has always been timely and professional.  He doesn't talk your ear off, but he's good at giving advice when we needed to make decisions about how the lighting should be laid out, etc. He has come in on the weekends and worked late to get something done, and any time we've called him for warranty work he has shown up immediately and without any hassle.  Standing by your work after it's done and paid for is one of the signs of true craftsmanship, if you ask me.  I've passed all of my electrical inspections without issues, and a even few compliments, and we will definitely hire him again when we need an electrician!

I recently purchased an old Victorian house in San Francisco.  When I had the inspections done, the inspector told me that I would need to upgrade the panel, wiring, and that most of the plugs are not grounded.  So getting that work done was a priority of mine when I moved in a couple of weeks ago.  I found Andrei (AVS Electric) on Yelp, and gave him a call on a Saturday (today).  He came out the same day, took a look at the panel, wiring, and tested all the plugs in my house.  He said the panel was old, but that there was no need to upgrade, and that all plugs save one were already grounded.  He quickly fixed that plug.  Professional, honest, fast...definitely will contact him first in the future for electrical projects that come up.  Thanks, Andrei!

Andrei from AVS Electric is the greatest! He did all of the electric on our remodel, and everything has worked great. He is incredibly accommodating and professional, working late hours or on weekends to get the job finished. He did an amazing job putting recessed lighting in an already existing ceiling.

Andrei was very courteous, respectful, and always kept the work area clean. He kept to his time schedule and would phone if he is running late. He had a few suggestions to make the project go smoothly but always considered what I wanted first.

Great experience with Andrei - he showed up on time, and resolved our problem (a short circuit) patiently and methodically. He explained our options, and told us what the more costly fix would be, and the cheaper fix, and didn't push us either way.
