Outstanding Service!! T A Roberts Plumbing (Find my 5-Star review) recommended Rooter Hero Plumbing and, as luck would have it, RHP are running a $77.00 special through the month of July 2023. For $77.00 They unclogged and Video cam'd a nasty sewage line back up that had been vexing an 83 year old Man in an Alameda, one story townhouse, for months.
Very fast response - onsite within 2 hours. Very professional. Now they are repairing a badly damaged underground (under slab), cast iron sewage pipe, cleaning up the flooded-mess inside the house (two bathrooms, hallway, bedroom), replacing a toilet (or two), and turning frowns into smiles...

Being a Licensed General Contractor, I get called by friends and friends of friends to recommend specialists and oversee these type of repair operations quite regularly. I concurred with RHP's approach, diagnosis, recommended repairs and overall approach & philosophy; not to mention NO-price-gouging!

Are they expensive? Well, in a word, yes. This business model is likely a national chain therefore needs to kick-$-upstairs a couple of times however, this does not mean they scam as other disgruntled reviewers would suggest. They cover their arse (and yours) with right/correct/modern procedures/recommendations. All plumbers working at this level and managing these type of problems are, relatively speaking, expen$ive.
Blame Liability Insurance, Workers Comp, Licensing, State Regulations, Equipment expenses, warehousing, to name only a few... However, they do provide financing if needed (who does that??), and they perform with a superior level of urgency and professionalism. And believe me, when a homeowner has a mess like this, Rooter Hero is precisely the team you want to show up and make repairs!

There are so many amazing knuckleheads in the service trades; and it's difficult to find good help/service anywhere, at any price, these days. Take a note folks, Rooter Hero Plumbing are the right guys to call... Thank you fellas for making ME look like a Hero! LOL

I don't like to be harsh but I do like to be detailed & honest and I think this company will try to SCAM you.

Before you hire them, give them your hard earned money, and trust them to work on your home, please continue to read this and previous reviews. Also, check them out on the Better Business Bureau site. There you will see they are not accredited by the BBB and received a D- score from them. They cite failure to respond to 9 complaints for the reasoning. Also, there are 64 filed complaints (65 after I file mine) in the last 3 years, 36 closed in the last year, and the neg reviews give them *1.21*out of 5 stars.

Now, my personal experience. My parents are seniors. They rent out a property which had plumbing problems two years ago. Rooter Hero told them they needed all this work done and charged $20,000. It took two weeks and was a huge job. They also left a huge mess as everything/all furniture was covered in dust, the walls throughout were also coated with a thin layer of dust. They didn't bother to cover anything with plastic or give any warning to move things out of the way before hand. What a way to inconvenience a customer who spent so much money.

Fast forward to the present. In the same house, a tub and shower are clogged upstairs- even after all the work they did previously. They can't snake it and say it's a separate line that was previously worked on for the $20,000. Which, ok, it was. They come back the next day to assess the downstairs. I'm there to let the guy in. He's in, glances at two parts of the ceiling, merely 1-2 mins to make his assessment, then he's out. Doesn't ask me any questions about the plumbing downstairs but comes to the conclusion that this needs to be fixed right away. He calls my dad, telling him what needs to be done and asking if I can sign for him. My dad wants to sign on his own, so at the drop of a hat, the guy is willing to drive 50 miles to my dad is for his signature.

About an hour and a half later, I call my dad for an update. The guy is standing right in front of him for his signature. He says they're starting today and they will be sending guys over NOW. I was confused at the rush & suspicious at why he would drive so far for a signature. It was around 3pm, they couldn't wait for the next day? I complain things need to be covered / moved beforehand and there's no time to do that.

I quickly hop on their yelp reviews and their profile on the BBB site. I read the many reviews of them quoting jobs
overpriced by thousands & thousands of dollars & and possibly preying on vulnerable seniors. I call my dad again. The Rooter Hero guy is gone by this time and my dad had signed. I ask what their quote was. He says $21,000. They also told him they would finish in two days. What $21,000 job takes two days? And my parents had already replaced so much for $20,000 so what possibly could cost that much? I warn my dad about what I read online. He puts Roto Hero on pause, and I find another company for a second opinion.

Guy came out within an hour of my call. I could tell this person did his absolute best to fix the problem as he spent 2.5 hours trying to snake the pipes, looked for the crawl space, went on the roof, and with permission - cut open the wall a little to view the pipes downstairs. And yes! he cleaned up after himself. He put in so much effort in contrast to what was done by Roter Hero on their assessment. After he did all he could, he gave an estimate for the job- $5200. It ended up being $6800 after they found another issue. But $14,200 LESS than Roter Hero. We went with them of course, and the job was complete in two days.

I think Roto Hero was willing to drive 50 miles unplanned for a signature and wanted to start asap to secure the dishonest estimate for $21,000. A SCAM and they know it. My experience matches the multiple reviews online. If you are reading this and still considering hiring them, do yourself a favor and consider another company that is honest and won't try to rob you of your hard earned money. (And leave a mess).

I want to warn the public about this company. They charged me $1750 for two hours of work and still didn't fix my problem. I'm not saying they are incompetent- they diagnosed that roots had grown into a pipe, but I still have the problem and the area flooded (again) with a minor rain. I complained to the corporation- and have received crickets. $1750? For that? I'm still in the same place! Beware.

and- they broke the drains, failed to re bolt them in- and the pictures they gave me - were of the drain. Great- like I couldn't take a picture of the drain?
Outrageous and I wish I never hired them.

This company is a complete SCAM. Look at the previous comments. I had them come out and was hesitant about their services, my tub and shower were clogged. A guy comes out and tries to snake, said he couldn't make it past a few feet (WTF?!) He then said his supervisor needs to come out with a camera, working in Inventory in plumbing I know ALL technicians have cameras if they're dealing with a plumbing issue so that was an immediate red flag.

They then stated they had to do a hydro power clean out which would cost $1,900 from my roof to flush the debris away. The average cost to hydro power clean a sewer line is $700, the lowest is $300, the highest is $1,100 if you're LUCKY. Running this by my friends at Pace Supply & Ferguson stated this company is a SCAM & that they will literally bait and switch customers, give them one quote then redact it and claim that you need everything replaced at a ridiculously marked up value.

What this company is doing isn't only unethical, but illegal. They're going to get sued sooner than later, I will fight them tooth and nail in court because the problem I was supposed to pay them to fix wasn't fixed, thus why I refused to pay from the get go and demanded to be invoiced. Their shady practice is nothing short of vile and predatory. I can't wait until a class action lawsuit bankrupts this company and those involved are charged with financial conspiracy, especially around the elderly and vulnerable.

They recommended I get a $20,000 CLEANOUT installed. A cleanout literally on average costs $650-$2000. Anything above $3,500 is strictly commercial for larger buildings, NOT single family homes. $20,000 for a cleanout is absolutely criminal, I also noticed it's a trend on so many comments under this page that they try to upswell any update for $8,500+ or $20,000 It's interesting how these people working there think that not everyone has their expertise in plumbing. I've done inventory all over California for various plumbing warehouses & know what's right and what's complete fraudulent and unethical. I know what the prices are for every plumbing product and what the average costs is for manual labor.

After finishing the half complete job, they unprofessionally hung around my house for 2 hours, chatting and talking so they could burn time on the clock. This lead my neighbors to contact me saying they felt uncomfortable with their lingering presence. The manager was literally there during all of this, WTF?! They blocked my from exiting my driveway as their car was parked barely a few feet in front of the stop sign *illegally I might add,* and refused to move as I was backing out. They literally had lunch right in front of my house after the fact too, absolutely unprofessional in every capacity. Here's a few pictures of the lackluster job they completed.

If you refuse to pay them because of their shady services that are botched they will threaten a LIEN on your property, I'm not even joking.

Avoid this place like the bubonic plague, I can't wait until they're sued into bankruptcy. This company is EVIL, PREDATORY & UNETHICAL.

Very professional company. From their call center to the actual technician ( Jeremy S.) who came to fix my slow to drain toilet, I have been impressed by their professionalism and very accurate scheduling. The appt center explained to me what the special is. They sent an actual time of when the technician will arrive. The technician actually arrived on time. When I had questions, he explained the difference in the plumbing techniques. All I really care about is he was on time, fixed my toilet and I paid the priced agreed upon when I first scheduled the appointment. Have already told some neighbors about this company. Am keeping the business card and the website handy. Not that I want to see more of you guys but I am so happy that I found you.

I want to let everyone know that the $77 coupon sticker that you might see
on newspapers is only valid for once/year. If your pipes backs up again and you need it cleared you will not be able to use the coupon which is what happened to me. My pipes clogged up again in less than a year. Little did I know the problem was more than just a clog. I had no choice but to get it pressured cleared by Rooter Hero which costs hundreds more (as I couldn't wait any longer because I couldn't flush anymore). I ultimately had to get my sewer pipes repaired with someone else because Rooter Hero's quote was not competitive.

They seem to be best at upselling. Charged a high $350 to run a camera down our sewer lateral, and then told me they were unable to complete the job without doing a hydrospray for an additional $1700!

High prices and high pressure (and not just the hydro spray!).

They are a bit expensive but they do a great job. Louise is a miracle worked. A different company left us hanging said our clog was impossible to clear. 10 minute hydro jet and clog was gone. We also had him install a new garbage disposal. Louise was very knowledgeable and professional. And kind. I would definitely recommend this company.

I had reached out to Rooter Hero to clear out my main sewer line. When the tech arrived he could not clear the clogged with his snake, so he tried to upsell me on a $1800 hydro jet service. Tech couldn't be reached for any response, was a complete flake

I called Plumbing Solutions, they came and cleaned out the line for $295 and also ran a camera through the sewer. Complete contrast in experience. If you are reading this, call Plumbing Solutions, and stay away from Rooter Hero

The main sewer line to my house backed up so I started looking for plumbers. I saw Rooter Hero's $77 offer and booked an appointment. Since my line was an easy clean out, they had to honor the special offer. The plumber fished the rooter snake down the line for a few minutes and then quit. He claimed that the clog was too bad and that I needed a hydro jet service for over $2000. I told him I'd think about it.
The next day I had a different company come out. That plumber snaked the rooter down the pipe and in 25 minutes had the line cleared and draining. That company charged their regular price (around $200) for a simple clean out.
I will never use Rooter Hero again and I do not recommend them.

Pete was amazing! We had the washer drain clogged and it backed up into the rest of the entire house. He came out at almost midnight on a Saturday and cleared the clog. Very professional. Very nice! Would definitely recommend this service to anyone who has plumbing problems.

Avoid for any type of plumbing issues

First they pushed my appointment twice for an urgent sewer block. The tech that arrived was, in my opinion, unprofessional and was not considerate of tracking dirt into the home.

The tech ran no faucets, no shower, no flushing, absolutely zero due diligence on where the block might be under the home. They immediately went to find a 2 way cleanout around the perimeter of the house. When we could not find one, they instantly tried to push the install of one (which is not a bad idea) but basically trying to instill fear into us that it was necessary.

Their quote was $6500 for a basic install. They had me on the phone with their sales person trying to sell me on the install, offered finance, saying they could do it same day. When I mentioned that this price seemed ridiculous they put me on hold to talk to his manager and was able to give me a $500 discount. Wow, what a deal!

Since the clog was preventing us from doing laundry/washing dishes etc. I asked how much to do a snake and was quoted $300. I paid $50 for the visit and reached out to another company.

The other company was on time, professional, wore shoe covers in the home. They did a thorough inspection to discover the block was near the kitchen and found a cleanout access point near the sink that Rooter missed.

The cleanout was $175 and they quoted me $1500 for the 2 way install and said it wasnt necessary but something to consider in the future.

Avoid Rooter Hero. Unprofessional, Insanely overpriced, and (most importantly) dishonest.

Just got bait and switched by an unethical plumbing company. Rooter Hero (should be rooter zero) gave me a coupon on my newspaper for a $77 drain clean, then came out ant told me that the quote was actually going to be $279. The plumber asked to see the coupon and then said that coupon is only for easy access and told me that my tub was not easy access. I have a standard tub with a simple drain?? so not sure why he thinks I am going to let him charge me 3x the quote. I told him no thanks and he said ok then you owe me $45 for a dispatch fee. I said good luck collecting that and ushered him out of my house. Scammers! steer clear of this company

I had Rooter Hero come out and completely replace the old sewer pipes in my home, along with the hot and cold water supply lines. A section of the walkway had to be removed to replace the lateral, and I am compelled to express how pleased I am with the repair. Ramon Ramirez, Ismael Chavez, Alvaro Sanchez, and Adan Moreira were very professional and meticulous in their workmanship. As the walkway is the only visible portion of the work done, it was very important that the flag replacement was level and as aesthetically pleasing as possible. The North East Bay Sewer crew understood this and delivered through remarkable craftsmanship and skill. Thank you for a job well done!

I am giving them 3 stars. They did a good job in fixing the Sewage back up we had in quick timely fashion. But boy they charged me double the market rate for building a clean out. I had couple of plumbers come in later that day and give quote for $3K - $3.5K for the same job, while Rooter Hero charged me more than $7.2K. I signed the contract with Rooter in a hurry without comparing quotes as the bathrooms were unusable due to sewage back up and it was middle of work day, with kids home due to summer vacations. So, my recommendations to future customers please use this company only in absolute emergency, they may solve your problem but be prepared for rip off on price.

My kitchen sink was clogged. I checked the air gap and took apart the P trap to snake it with a store bought auger. It didn't work so I found this $77 coupon and hired Rooter Hero. I showed the service agent the open P trap (under my kitchen sink) and asked him whether he'd use an auger there or in the clean-out access. He used the access and said it's okay to leave open the P trap. He said he ran the full 75 feet of auger, then without thinking twice, flushed it with water, which flooded my kitchen since the P trap was open (he said he forgot). He did not offer to clean the mess so I had to vacuum it. Since the drain clog was not removed, he said that hydrojetting would be needed. $77 coupon price would turn into $1,600+ for hydrojetting. I declined the hydrojetting and he asked for payment even though I was worse off for his service visit. What a scam! I hired a different company that unclogged it in under ten minutes the next day using an auger at the same clean-out access. After seeing my review, the company said they would look into it internally. They did not offer to reimburse me for my out of pocket or my opportunity costs.

They quoted me $2200 to unclog a shower drain. They proposed to bring in a hydrojet and put on my roof to use to unclog the drain. I found another plumber to clear the blockage for less than 1/10th price quoted by rooter hero, and they just snaked it. Beware of rooter hero's exorbitant quotes!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. TLDR: go to #5 & #6 of this review. Definitely dodged a bullet on this one and I feel violated that they had access to our crawlspace. Fully believe that they'd sabotage plumbing during inspection if they could based on the shady experience I had.
1) Upstairs toilet clogging more recently. Called for inspection. One tech came out and never went upstairs to look at the upstairs toilet. Asked to go under the house and took pictures of main sewer line and then did camera inspection of line from street cleanout. Said we had a main line problem but he needed to have his supervisor come out with a better camera.
2) Several calls and delays/days later supervisor showed up and said there is a problem with our main line and we have cast iron in the wall of the upstairs bathroom and there's a main line problem under the house and probably roots in the line from the house to the street but he needed the other tech there to get the full inspection done with the camera and he wasn't available so we'd have to reschedule.
3) Office calls and says we need to schedule a time to pull the toilet upstairs and camera that line.
4) Supervisor call back and says he didn't see the pics from the 1st tech inspection until now and there is 100% a main line problem. I ask why no one looked at the upstairs toilet and he said there was no need and said we need main line replacement under house and trenchless sewer repair from house to street. I said it seems weird that no one ever looked at upstairs toilet. i guarantee the toilet is fine, it's the main line. I said it didn't seem to be adding up and would like a second opinion and he said he 100% supports people getting second opinions that and he'd send me an estimate.
5) They spent 3+ hours inspecting, two drives to my house two counties away, multiple phone calls and when I said send me the estimate and that I was getting a 2nd opinion, there was no further communication. No attempt to recoup their sunk costs because this was clearly a scam.
6) 2nd opinion from different company. Impossible for a 2nd story toilet to back up from a clogged sewer line. Augered toilet, lots of buildup, flushes better now. Rec replacing toilet if it persists as first step, then pulling toilet and doing camera inspection. Yes, we had a belly in our sewer line, but 805 of houses in our area have that and 20% of them become a problem. Camera inspection of line from street to house and beyond unremarkable. $189, straightforward explanation from 2nd opinion company who stated that the majority of what was diagnosed was not reputable and trusting your gut is the way to go. 50% of plumbers/drain cleaners are scammers.

I am so pleased with Rooter Hero . I had a backed up toilet. They were at my home within 30 minutes and Tevris solved the problem very quickly. He was a complete professional and snaked the drain thoroughly until he was satisfied with the flow of water. I am very grateful for Rooter Hero . For two days my toilets would not work and would back up Into the shower. I tried everything, drano augers and drills to unclog the backup. Finally it was time to turn in the towel and call professionals. From a recommendation from my wife boss we called Rooter Hero Plumbing. We called and they came out on Saturday. They did investigation and our tech Andrew who by the way was one of the best people and techs we could have asked for. We live on the bottom floor of a 4 level condo complex.
Andrew after the initial inspection decided to call his Manager who came out to also inspect, we need to find out which pipes were ours which were located in the garage. When Andrew's manager showed up he also inspected. He determined our line was our own and he could pull the toilet without 3 floors of sewage coming up in my unit.Max did not want to do anything until he was sure as to not cause us more damage. He was very concideratenand it should he really cares about his work, his job and his customers. Max and Andrew were a breath of fresh air to deal with. We started to comencé with the work. And the fix was underway the equipment they had in the van was not cutting it and would get to the clog and then it would kink, They also informed us and gave us all the information before they did anything and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. They could not fix the main line blockage with the machines they had. Max let us know that if it was a real bad blockage we might end up having to do a hydro flush which would have cost us $3200. My heart sank. That was more I could afford even though they offer financing. He told us that he would come back tomorrow which was a Sunday and both Max's and Andrew's day off. They told us they would come tomorrow around 2. They would bring a shop vac to empty the toilet and a heavy duty auger to try and punch through the blockage. They called us on Sunday morning around 10 and said they were on their way. They arrived with the equipment they believed would get the job done. They removed the toilet and got to work. They literally worked their magic and in less than 30min they had broken through the main line blockage and saved our world. We were beyond thrilled that they had fixed our plumbing issue that my wife and I both game them big hugs. The best thing I can say about Andrew and Max is that they are the best Employees you have the give their clients piece of mind which in this times are priceless. Can't state enough how much I appreciate EVERYTHING that Andrew and Max did for me and my family. Since then I have told everyone I know and I had told about my plumbing issues. I also highly recommended Rooter Hero Plumbing and especially ask for Max and Andrew and I will guarantee you will be fully satisfied and enjoy your experience with them because they come durning the worst situations when your plumbing is in trouble and it is an emergency. They offer solutions and piece of mind. They both are priceless employees that all companies wish they had employees like Andrew and Max.

05/22/23: Our kitchen sink backed up, nothing I did could clear it. I called Rooter Hero, they dispatched Ethan Elliot, he called to give me an approximate arrival time frame and was actually slightly early. Ethan was personable and polite, explained everything he was going to do before he did it and was neat and clean about his actions. The clog ended up being a hardened plug that defeated the usual powered snake. Ethan ordered a high-pressure water drill device to come on site, the plug was cleared within a few minutes. Well worth the money, 5 stars all the way around.

This weekend one of the unthinkable and definitely unexpected happened at my home. Both my toilets backed up. I decided to use yelp to find a company, so it's an emergency for me so I decided to only have one company come out work on my issue. This is not my normal practice. Boy did I choose the wrong company. The technician (Chris) arrived fairly quickly and assessed the situation based on my say so and viewing the backed up toilets. I was told that the issue was with my main line he asked if the property had a cleanout port for the system. There was not one, so by this another technician arrived (Sean Salas). The the initial work was to be that he was going to snake the drain. Chris snakes the line from the vent on top of my roof by the way neither technician had a ladder. I let them use my ladder. While Chris was snaking the drain Sean was on the ground with me making the case for them to install a clean out drain. Which for my area could be greater than ten thousand dollars to repair which he happily told me they had financing options. After Chris had supposedly snaked 100 feet into my system that did not resolve the issue. So they suggested that they use the aqua jet to flush the system at a cost of $1650. After my hesitance I agreed to let them call for the aqua jetter it so happened to be available. So using this aqua jet and getting it into the system and positioned where they can then run it. Long story short it all went bad from here. They pushed hard to jam the aqua jet into my system and when they first tried to run it forced water in to the house so the tried to send it in further. They found out that the aqua jet was stuck in system. Now frantic they yanked and pulled trying to get the aqua jet out of the system all while doing incredible damage to my plumbing system. So the literally had to cut and repair my system to get the aqua jet out. They also found that they were in the wrong vent, they were not in the vent that was by the main drain. I asked what was the plan after they made the repairs they said they would run the aqua jet in the correct vent, after discussion Sean and I conversed about the $1650 fee for the aqua jet. He said don't I'm going to give a deal 50% off. Then I over heard a conversation that he and Chris were having under the house and Chris didn't feel that there should be a 50% discount. So after they finished putting all that back together Chris said I'm going home and that's exactly what he did. My shower connection was broken in the repair. I still waiting for Sean to contact me concerning having that fixed and the other work inspected. TOTALLY A BAD EXPERIENCE AND DEFINITELY NOT THE COMPANY TO USE. I SHOULD HAVE READ MORE OF THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS.

ROOTER HERO CAME BACK TO FIX WHAT THEY BROKE!!!
On August 2nd, I received a call back from Nathan one of the Executives of the company. He was gracious to hear live from me the issue that I had with his technicians. He was very apologetic and wanted to make the situation right. I appreciated how he responded to my issue, he immediately following our call dispatched two techs to get my plumbing system back to the state it was in prior to their initial arrival on Saturday, July 30th. The technician Noor did the repair and install work. Noor was a great technician and he represented the company very well in my opinion. I feel that my experience would have been much different had he been my original technician. As stated to Nathan privately I will state again Noor is a great asset of the company and Nathan handled getting this situation resolved very well without a lot of back forth between he and I. Thank you for that Nathan. For the resolution effort I am also changing my initial rating.

I had a clogged sewer line. I called Rooter Hero in Martinez to get it fixed. They told us we needed to use the hydro jet system. It ended up costing $1800. Originally they told me it would be a 1 year warranty. Turns out it was only for 1 month! They then told me I needed to replace 40 feet of the sewer line. This would cost over $30,000. I ended up buying my own sewer camera. The sewer line was just fine. A big bait and switch company!

A horrible experience and a horror. Totally predatory, especially as a senior.
Our broken pipe repair went from $2800.00 to $35,000.00 when an incorrect conclusion was made by the service about the problem and the fix. As we were without water and it was over 100+ degrees and the repair was not happening that day, I was demanded $3500.00 for them to install a temporary patch from the meter to the house so we'd have water for the weekend. The communications deteriorated. Then $1200.00 was demanded for their work? I had given them $280.00 as a 10% deposit for the 1st estimate and said, You have 10% for an incompleted job, Get the hell of my property!... The estimator rolled his eye derisively and made some derogatory comments as he left. He did not check to see if we even had a gallon of water to survive.

Ultimately, my tried and true plumber became available and did the entire repair for $1500.00 plus $200.00 for the temporary water patch.

I had a plumbing issue and called this company to come and fix what I thought would be simple snake job. They came and spent two hours telling me incorrect information about my pipes and the clean out valve and quoting me as much at $8,500+ to possibly resolve the issue but most likely ALL my pipes should be replaced. Using fear and pressuring an usable for a simple line clear out is unprofessional. Booked an appointment for the next day as they would not resolve anything immediately. Later canceled the appointment when my local Plummer came in the morning and unclogged the line in 30 min. The company had already charged my card for work not done and it took several days for them to rectify that. Would not recommend.

I wish I could say better things about this business, but the only good thing I can think of is, they're open on the weekends. That's why we called them.

It turns out our issue was a simple clogged drain (my wife has very long hair that had accumulated and caused the clog to slowly get worse over months). However, we're renters and so when we asked our landlord about this, he said to call someone, and if we caused the problem, we'd have to pay for the solution. If there was a bigger issue, let him know. So we appreciated that they had video camera technology to check first, but found the price of $350/drain to be surprisingly high. As a small business owner myself, I understand needing to charge money for services provided with expensive equipment, but once they're at your house and all set up with the camera, shouldn't the process in a 2nd drain cost less? In any case, instead of using the camera from our clogged drain, they ran it from outside out house to check the pipe from our house to the water main.

They found a crack caused by a tree root (not our fault) so we got our landlord involved. Rooter Hero Plumbing gave a quote of $24K, which our landlord knew was overpriced. He hired someone else to do it for $9K, and then, since our tub drain was still clogged, we called around. Someone else quoted their video technology for $50 less than Hero Plumbing (I wasn't surprised) but we didn't need that again, so we finally found someone to simply unclog the drain for under $100.

I wish we had never contacted them since they're masters of the up-sell. Convincing us to pay the highest possible rate for a video, then misdiagnosing the problem, then quoting 3X the rate to fix it. We're never calling them again.

I tried to have them come to inspect & fix my water heater. They ditched me on my first appointment w/ them. Then they said they going to give me $50 off, but turns out you can't use that $50 off on the inspection service. But That is not the problem. The problem is I feel like that they are not honest in their price. They quoted me $7,000 for replacing a regular residential 40 gallon water heater! That is crazy! Home depot quoted me $1860 for doing the same thing with 10 years warrenty! I understand everybody has a different price but charging people so much for a small job is just doesn't sound right.

At 1:00 this afternoon I called Rooter Hero. I was treated politely and was told a plumber would be at my house between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. At 6:30, I called and was told they were very sorry but I was going to be the very next job and someone would be there between 6:30 and 8. By now it's dark. I waited until 9:00 pm and then called them back and canceled. These people are flakes. Then I looked online and it seems that they are known for their bait and switch come-on. $77 to clean a drain. But then they add to it. They're not my hero. I'll find someone else who knows what they're doing and who is reliable and shows up on time. I have some physical limitations right now and they made me wait for 5 hours and didn't even show up. Stay away from Rooter Hero by all means.

I would give them -10 stars if I could. Beware of this company. They are basically out here trying to scam new home owners, older residents and more. They will reel you in for their 77 discount and then come back and try to upsell a problem in your house for upwards to 8K.

Unfortunately, they got me for 400 of shoddy work. They snaked my line, then told me I had so many issues only 8k of work could fix it. They left the snake line open so all the toilet stuff came out...but since they actually already snaked it and did the job...It didnt NEED to be.

Then they pretended to call their manager only for him to say 7200 is the lowest they could go. They never provided me a estimate as to why it would be that much.

Not only that, they were late to the appointment by an hour, with me having to call them to get an ETA. They will send one tec, he will have to come back with another tech who then tries the upsell.

Everytime I call back and ask to speak to a manager...there is not one in the office and I will get called back...which has literally never happened.

If I ever see their truck, I'm going to the house and tell them they are about to be scammed.

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! Watch out for a tech named Christian and a tech named Robert. 100% unprofessional with 0 customer service skills.

I will be 100% reporting them to BBB and reporting them to the county.

Update: Manager named Nate called me back personally to apologize for the poor experience with their service and refunded my charge back in full.

Was extremely helpful and the customer service was great. I still wouldn't use them again...but if I did/you do...ask to speak to Nate to get help.

Tech said it does not apply to a laundry drain line that has a P trap, so the cost was just shy of $300. Now I ask you, what laundry line has no P trap? P trap is needed to avoid sewer gas entering the home.

It's important to acknowledge incredible service. I am an emergency room nurse working night shift and when I woke up to go to work, my sewer clean-out was overflowing. I called Rooter Hero because they have a local branch and I am a lifelong Martinez resident, and they sent out someone in the morning as soon as I got home from work. The technician Angel was smart, professional, and very competent in his job. He cleared the line and just to make sure he called his supervisor Jonathan to visually inspect the line. Both Johnathan and Angel were honest and professional. I am a customer for life with Rooter Hero and if their is a way to request Angel as a technician again I would. I trust him. I found Rooter Hero online as my toilet was clogged. I messaged them and asked for a rough estimate of what it would cost if they needed to use the big auger to complete the work. When our plumber (Ignatio was great by the way---very professional, honest and easy to work with) arrived, he said that using the big auger would cost 3 times as much as what was quoted to me by the company. He felt bad and while he was able to cut the cost down a little bit, it was still a lot more than I thought I would pay. The work was great, but I feel I was taken advantage of.

Run, dont walk! These guys pray on our senior citizens; why else would they advertise in the CCTime???

Heres what they tried to do to my parents:

My dad insisted that I call the company he sees in the CCTimes to unclog their drain. My dad is 94YO, their house is 50YO, and it's not in perfect shape. I called Rooter Hero Plumbing and told them EXACTLY where the problem was and EXACTLY the size auger they need. Okay, I know what you are thinking, I sound like a know-it-all right? You see, I have remodeled hundreds of homes. So I went under the house to make sure there were no leaks and to see what size pipes there were. The person said, no problem, they had a guy out within 40 minutes...not bad, I was happy.

Before the young guy had a chance to see the situation he asked, If I would like him to quote for new plumbing...what??? No! I just want to unclog the damn drain. He saw my parents aging home and my older parents but, had no idea that I have flipped and restored more homes than there are stars on a few American flags. So the young guy starts working on the drain. In under 5 minutes, no joke, 5 minutes another guy walks into my parents kitchen (where my dad and I were sitting) and starts telling me the problem. I walked down to the problem area with them both and noticed the auger they were using was too big; the so-called field form men told me we cant get past the p-trap we needed to hydro blast and the soonest would be tomorrow, and that it would cost $1,300 to $1,500. Wait, what? Dude, I said, I could have one of my guys replace the P-trap for under $200. This guy stood there with his jaw hanging and said, yeah you could do that I guess. They packed up, wanted their $49 rip off fee and left.

This all happened yesterday. This morning, while my dad was with his in-home nurse; I snuck downstairs (my dad will not allow me to help around their home). I took a small hand held auger (the cheap kind from Home Depot and a Hydro blast also cheap from Home Depot) cleared out the drain and cleaned up the mess in under 15 minutes.

My goal with writing this long winded ZERO star review is to stop unethical companies like Rooter Hero from taking advantage of any age group, especially our senior citizens. Help me achieve this goal by using any other company!

My shower wasn't draining. I called Rooter Hero when I saw the $77 drain clearing promo. The technician arrived within an hour. So for so good. I explained the issue and he said he would check it out so I left him to it. After a few minutes he said he wasn't able to get the cable very far, so he wanted to check the pipes under the house. I directed him to the crawl space. Another few minutes, and he came back in to report that the pipes were leaking and corroded and everything needed to be replaced. He said if left undone, the blockage would begin to affect the toilet, and eventually the other bathroom. He explained the work would cost around $20,000. He spoke with his boss who agreed to do a 15% discount and got an estimate for me on financing. Wanting to get a second opinion before getting into debt, I called around and found another plumbing service that could send someone the next day. When I explained the situation, they knew that I had been dealing with Rooter Hero, as apparently this scammy sort of service has become the norm. The second plumber was able to quickly clear the drain and assess the other drains and toilets, and all seems to be in order. Great, except that I had to pay not only the $50 that Rooter Hero charged for snaking the drain (that charge has been refunded), but also $375 I don't happen to have lying around for the other plumber to come and do the job Rooter Hero's technician couldn't, or wouldn't, as the agenda seemed to be to get $20,000 out of me instead of simply clearing the drain for $77 as advertised. Talk about a bait and switch. I'm guessing it's one they use quite a bit on elderly clients, as the 15% off I was offered was referred to as the senior discount, and that smacks of elder abuse. They might want to rethink their business plan, as it will likely lead them straight into a lawsuit.

I hate getting scammed, but don't fall for their $77 drain clean special. The exceptions are of course not disclosed on their website or on the phone when you make an appointment. Guy shows up, takes one look at the sink (without inspecting anything), says it'll be $350 to snake it. Um. What? .. bla bla explanation how there's no drain clean outside the house behind the kitchen for his easy access. Um, again what? Where does it say I need that? SO. MAD. I will say the guy was cool and knowledgeable, and I don't blame him I blame the company. Don't use them. Scammed out of $49 for the guy to show up and leave without fixing our sink. This falls under the same category as our useless home warranty. Buyer beware.

190% a SCAM! They came in to clear a line and then manipulated the situation and convinced my 80 year mother it was a $20,000 job. Somehow were able to fix that emergency in one afternoon. TALKED...no CONVINCED her it was worth it. Left saying they would clean up but she had to spend more money to get someone to clean her New installed carpets. They had a hard time sealing the toilet. 2 weeks later the toilet was leaking. Called and no one was responsive. They said they would have someone out and they never showed up. Called and they switched the appointment to the next morning where they never showed up. So 3 days go by and we called again and again was were constantly disconnected on the phone. Asked to talked to a supervisor and they never called. She had the number to who originally came up and he showed up and tried to convince her it would be an additional $6500 and that she needed to sign a new contract by 4 so they could get the city out there...like the city is waiting for them to call. Complete scam! They were like jiffy jube employees. Key here is that they kept saying oh we will discount here and there...that is the #1 sign it's a scam. I could go on on the taking advantage of a elder woman. Thank god my husband were and I were there to stop this dishonest company from further dragging my mother into taking her money.

The technician show up today late (they miss the appointment on 9/19/22) to do the estimate for the broken Faucet. After the estimate, the technician said it's going to charge me $670 to change the cartridge inside the faucet. It's a pretty expensive; and I have to think about that. However, the technician charge me $150 for the estimate instead of $49 which I was told by the dispatch. Once I contacted the dispatch, she did not know why the technician charge me that much; and she said she will ask the manager to call me back regarding the refund. So far, I did not get any call from the manager..... will not do any business will this company.

I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED YELP FIRST!!!
They wanted $1,650.00 to clean the drain. They were unable to clean the drain. He advised me to replace the pipes for an additional $400.00 cost!
I then called a real plumber, they fixed the problem for a fourth of the cost ROOTER HERO quoted us.
I had to pay $200.00 for a power wash to clean the patio area where they were working, they never even tried to clean up. Also they damaged the slide out drawer underneath the sink.
They PREY on SENIOR CITIZENS!!! COMPLETE SCAM!!!

My kitchen sink was stuck last night and this morning I called Rooter Hero Plumbing. The next available tech came promptly. David Moreno did a very good job. He cleared the clog issue in the kitchen and my bathtub. He would show me what he found. After each task, he tested and examined carefully to make sure everything works properly with no leaking. He even cleaned the area very thoroughly.
Meanwhile, he also fixed my toilet seat cover that was swinging left and right. I've been trying to tighten the screw, but failed.

I have nothing but raves for Rooter Hero who sent Josh over this morning to clean out my out my clogged bathroom sink drain. He was prompt and Rooter Hero even called an hour before he was coming to confirm his arrival and provide his name. I used a $77 coupon special from the direct mail value pack that comes to Palo Alto homes. Before coming in the house, he offered to wear a mask if I wished. He was really responsive, worked quickly, was thorough, asked good questions, and also asked me if I had any before he left. And, Josh left the bathroom spotless, maybe even cleaner than when he arrived. Thanks to Josh and his terrific service, I would not hesitate to use Rooter Hero again. Original Review: a tech quoted me one price but didn't have the part. The stores were already closed. They said I would have a tech in the morning. The next morning I get the text saying one is on the way. No shows. 6 calls later I get a tech who now wants to charge me 3 times what I was quoted. Same job. Corporate calls me and says they will honor the price and I will get a call from a tech is 20 minutes. No call. 19 calls later it's now 5:30 pm , 24 hrs after their first visit and NO one has shown up. Every call they promise me a tech will call back in twenty minutes. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I stayed home the whole day for nothing.

I would avoid using this company. I hired an inspector to come out to take a look at a serious leak in my apartment in Oakland. I paid for the inspection. After the inspection, the inspector said they will have a report on the scope of work & estimate in a few hours. They have gone silent ever since and it has been 3 days since the inspection. I have called the company 6 times and received the same answer that they will look into it and send the report in a few hours. Still received nothing and I even spoke to a manager regarding a refund and nothing.

Stay FAR away from this company. I generally never like to provide negative reviews, but this company was absolutely horrible and I view this as a public service to alert others to this scammy company. The plumbers provide excellent service and are professional, but their rate quotations are wayyyy off the mark for what would be considered fair and reasonable market value. Additionally, they charge for quotations, which they are upfront about, but the end quotation that we received was more than TRIPLE the cost other plumbers quoted from us for the same job. The other plumbers also provided a free quotation, whereas this company charged $50. It does not appear to be the fault of the plumbers, but rather the company. Apparently this company was good a few years ago, but new management came in and they're basically price gouging customers who are in emergency situations and do not know any better. Please be careful and do not be taken advantage of by this company!

GET A SECOND OPINION IF THEY RECOMMEND SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS. When called out for a routine backup, Rooter Hero told me my home needed $17,000 in plumbing repairs and could provide financing. Showed me video of purportedly leaking pipes in my crawl space. Ultimately, I got a second opinion and entire repair performed for $200 with video proof of pipes not leaking.

We are devoted users of the Diamond Certified system, who gave Rooter Hero a high rating. Much like a few of the previous reviewers, we had two toilets back up. We were initially impressed by how quickly they responded to our situation, and Rodney, as point person, was patient and helpful. After scoping the lateral line we learned that our pipes had corroded beyond repair and the cost was substantial; think what you might pay for a nice car- a darned nice car. Because of their stellar Diamond rating we made our first costly error; we should have stopped any forward progress and gotten one or 2 other bids. But when you can't use the bathrooms you can make hasty decisions.
Rooter Hero began their work, but unfortunately their shop vac broke, leaving raw sewage flooding our hallway. The serviceperson was incredibly apologetic, and was willing to cover the rug cleaning costs himself. After the lateral line was replaced we had two subsequent toilet backups, much to our dismay and surprise. Rooter Hero returned twice and found another pipe break. We were disappointed that they hadn't checked all the lines in the first place, and added expenses ensued.
Finally, upon inspection, items that had been left under the house were removed, including pipes and equipment, but only after an independent (county?) inspector told them to do so. Again, we didn't do a visual check under our home and had no idea that the entire system wasn't examined.
Bottom line: learn from our mistakes; Rooter Hero will not check all your lines by default, but will stop when they find one issue. As a customer I had no way of knowing that there had been only a partial check of our system. After spending what I feel is far too much money, we have learned a few hard lessons.

I chatted with someone around 12pm to book an appointment for same day. The dispatcher texts me to find out if 6-8pm tonight was fine and I said okay. Then tries to call me around 4-5pm to tell me the next available is tomorrow. I called the office and they told me they will find out what happened and will call me back but never called me back! Very bad customer service! I will never recommend anyone to this company! They put they are open 24/7 but yet you don't show up to the appointment? Don't need that service!

Dishonest company (or plumber or both). Plumber showed up with his iPad and charged $300 for a leaking toilet and then it still leaked within 20 minutes after he left. Then the same guy came back a different day and did something else for $300 and then it still leaked after he drove off. They then said we needed a new toilet since it's still leaking. We didn't believe them and declined. I decided to open the back of the toilet and buy a new flapper on Amazon for $10.42 and the problem went away. Then we received a thank you card for our business from them ripping us off. Avoid.

Had them out to rooter my septic line. Guy said that there was a blockage that they couldn't rooter through, but they could take care of it with a hydro jet. How much? $1600!!! They told me that they would credit the $1600 towards a replacement sewer line. I passed and called Advantage Trenchless. They came out and took care of the blockage within in an hour without having to hydrojet. What blockage? As mentioned in previous reviews, total predators.

My outdoor laundry room drain began to overflow. I called Rooter Hero repair the drain. They snaked the drain and told me it was fixed. When I tried to use the laundry room the next morning, the drain overflowed again. Two days later they returned. About one hour had passed when the Supervisor called me. The Supervisor told me a new 1 pipe needs to be installed in order to pass the drain. This pipe would be approximately 6' long. The Supervisor then told me it would cost $1,200.00. What???? $30 in parts and 20 minutes of work .... I asked them to hold off on this work as I could not afford it.

** Because I said no to this work, the crew picked up and quickly left. They did not put the planters back in place (which they moved to gain access to pipes), left their pile of garbage in the middle of the room, left all the doors wide open, etc. It was clear they were upset about not being able to gouge us.

I'm not big on writing reviews, but felt obligated to warn others about this extreme unprofessionalism. To say I'm disappointed with this company would be an understatement. Be careful.

I do not recommend you to call Rooter Hero for any plumbing service, so unpleasant experience and irresponsibility attitude.

My toilet and bathtub got clogged on 1/1/2021. I tried to fix it by myself but couldn't. I called them last Saturday, 1/2/2021 and my appointment was scheduled for 10 am on Sunday. No one called and showed up until 11 am. I called again, and the rep said I was 7th in the queue since there was only two technicians serving my area and one of them was out for sick(they didn't mention this when I called to make the appointment). So, I waited til the technician comes. Around 3 pm, technician came and did the service. I paid $325 for unclogging bathtub and $75 for main drain cleaning. It looked fine but it started backing up after 4 hours (I even didnt use any toilet paper cuz I worried about clogging the toilet again).

The issue starts from here.

I contacted Rooter hero again about the backup issue after the service, and they said they will send out a dispatch team to look at it but no one called or emailed me until now, 1/11/2021 (my question here is do they even have a dispatch team?). I called again, so many times throughout the week, asking when dispatch team will come to my house, and the all answer I could get from the reps is always the same. 'Your issue will be reported to a manager or resolution team, and they will reach you out regarding to this issue. And, the manager also was out of office for the week due to the covid test. Now, my toilet and bathtub is still clogged ,and I am upsetting about the fact that I paid $400 with cash. I could have canceled or put a hold on my transaction if I paid with my debit or credit card.

The lesson I learned from this is that never pay the plumbing guys with cash because you don't know whether they really did the job done or not

They were very responsive in coming out to replace the leaking water main into my home on Memorial Day weekend. I was told that Rooter Hero arranged for a city inspection of the work so they filled in most of the trench and left open the holes at the meter connection and at the riser to the isolation valve at the house. I placed 3 calls to Rooter Hero to find out tge statusof the inspection and when the holes would be filled in. I asked for a manager on the last call. No manager was available. I received no return calls. When I contacted the city, I was informed that no permit had been filed by Rooter Hero for this address. I'm guessing their 1 year warranty is as worthless as their customer service. I filled in the holes myself, not something I expected to do after spending a small fortune for this job.

Our 1948 home's drain plumbing system is not the greatest. We did not know how bad the drain was until Alex showed us the inside of the pipe. The original cast iron was in bad shape and Alex was kind enough to provide multiple options. This company offers financing which is great.

So 2 years later, we had the exact same problem... some flooding at the lowest indoor point of our home (laundry room) coming up through the drain, likely due to a blockage. We immediately called Rooter Heroes to save our day again, and AGAIN they did NOT disappoint and went above and beyond.

Jorge came out that day (last Friday) and took quite a bit of time assessing the problem; Since the same issue occurred two years ago, he wanted to get to the bottom of the issue and solve it once and for all. He could have just snaked the drain and been done with the job, but he spent extra time examining our somewhat hidden and hard-to-access system. His expertise was unparalleled.

That evening, he snaked the drain and resolved the issue...but we knew it would happen again, so he sent us a quote for the work that actually needed to be done. He explained the issue so succinctly and professionally, that we felt like we learned even more about our home's plumbing system-- there were roots growing into the pipe (he showed us with their cameras), which was collapsed, so only a little water was getting through the line.

After hours and hours of hard work from Jorge and one of his co-workers, the pipe was fixed, and he showed us again with the camera how much better the water flow was. We now no longer have to worry about our laundry room flooding with stinky water on an annual basis. Also, I was impressed with how well Jorge covered up the holes they had dug with the landscaping that had previously existed there (rocks, and some plants). A+++ work!!!!

This review is my opinion with best information of recalling facts and does not violate Yelp's Terms of Service.

My wife called one day before a scheduled morning appointment and asked about fees associated with repair and/or replacement of a standard garbage disposal. She was told that this depended on several factors and in many cases the unit could be repaired.

Tech arrived late morning, a kid, barely 20 years old with facemask and no gloves. He started to enter data into an iPad and asked me to confirm and enter data. I made a comment about gloves and universal precautions. None of this registered in his young mind.

I was given 2 options for replacement:
1. $500+ for replacement
2. $400+ for replacement with $500 membership fee that would total nearly $1,000 for 1/2 hour labor and $95 unit replacement.

I told the tech that I wanted the unit repaired and was told that the only way to start is by choosing a package. I'm not sure this is legal and the pricing is insane.

As I started inputting data there were questions asked, if:
1. I was responsible for financial decisions
2. I needed permission from another to agree to terms

There was a laundry list of questions and I may not have the exact wording. In hindsight I should have taken photos and filed a complaint with The State with this company.

Tech asked that power be shut off in the kitchen, with I did. I again asked about repair. He clicked the reset and said repair was not possible. Duh, the power is off. I then asked him to pack up his stuff and go.

RHP sends out kids as seasoned tech that may or may not know how to do anything other than one specific task. In my case, replace disposal. I'm sure he didn't have a clue about repair and to do a reset with the power off and stating the disposal could not be repaired is beyond me.

I'm sure that the State of California Contractors Board requires a verbal quote range prior to setting an appointment. A range of +/- of $100 would have been fine.

It is hard to rate the work done by this company because they made the appointment for 3pm and by 6:30 pm had not shown up or even given us a courtesy call. We had to finally call them and cancel the service. Plumbing is a service that is not usually a flexible need. I would not recommend this company unless you have no need for a timely response.

Bait and switch. $79.00 special only covers from the street to the house. As many of you know, its important to run the roof line as well. $350 quote for that. Once they are there....they have you at their whim.

Tech was nice, wore mask etc. But as this was maintainance and not a problem. I moved on to more reasonable pastures.

We got a note from the Public Works Department of the City we live to have our lateral sewer pipes inspected prior to road paving. One of our neighbors said he contacted this company for a sewer inspection and could arrange an inspection of our sewers on the same day with this company. The company arrived and inspected my neighbor's sewer, then the technician inspected our sewer and then did our neighbor across the street (all on the same day within the same time period). Jonathan, the estimator, then told our neighbor it would cost $23,000.00 to fix his broken sewer line. Jonathan quoted me $19,000.00 minus $2000 to fix my leaking sewer pipe. Jonathan gave me a $2000.00 discount because I was a veteran. Our neighbor across the street got the same quote as me without the $2000.00 discount. I was present at each of my neighbors houses when Jonathan provided my neighborrs' his verbal quote to fix their sewers. When I asked Jonathan if I could view the inspection, he said they do not record the images. Jonathan told me that he was going to save me money because if the city comes out to fix a lateral sewer line from my house, it would cost us $37,000.00 ( I thanked Jonathan for his concern). I told Jonathan that all three of us will need to discuss the quotes and get a second bid. We (all three of us) arranged to have another company come out to inspect our sewers. The second company found NOTHING WRONG with our lateral sewer lines plus they even showed each of us what they were viewing on their camera. My neighbor who was quoted $23,000.00 by Jonathan to fix his broken sewer was told their sewer was not broken by the second company!!! My leaking sewer was not leaking nor was my neighbor across the street. I do not recommend this company for any business. They are absolute scam artists!!! I am surprised the State has not revoked their contractor's license. Jonathan uses scare tactics to get seniors to sign a contract for work that doesn't need to be performed. If you use this company, you will be sorry and thousands of dollars poorer!! Highly not recommended!!!

Rooter Hero cleared my drain, then they tried to clear my bank account.

The short story: Rooter Hero advertised a $77 drain clearing special and tried to charge me $409 when they completed the work. They then tried to convince me to pay what seemed like exorbitant prices for work that probably didn't need to be done. The cost of those options ranged from $7,500 to $35,000.

Long story: I needed someone willing to do a small job and get someone out quickly. Rooter Hero fit the bill. That was about as good as it got (I guess they did clear the drain). They advertised a $77 drain clearing special with the stipulations 1) up to 75 feet and 2) with proper access. A technician showed up on time. Before he could even get the auger set up on the second floor, a second technician showed up. I thought this was curious as it couldn't make economic sense to send two trucks and two technicians for $77. As nothing had been done yet, there was also no way for them to know if there would be an issue with the job.

I had already removed the toilet, so the technician had access to the toilet flange. This seemed like proper access to me and he didn't say anything about it not being so. He was able to insert the auger with no additional prep work and the blockage was removed pretty quickly. They then told me the auger was stuck in the drain. It took only a relatively short amount of time to extract. In retrospect, I don't believe anything they said. At that point, they told me my 15-year old cast iron plumbing was in terrible shape and needed to be replaced. They decided to scope my outdoor drain line, showing me video of what looked pretty normal but declaring it ready to fail. They showed me no images of reduced pipe diameter, tree roots, cracks or anything else obvious to a somewhat knowledgeable and fairly handy homeowner.

The second technician then went to his van and hand wrote up several options for me to consider ranging from $7,352.17 to descale the drain pipe, to $34,040.62 to descale and epoxy coat the drain plus replace 2 smallish sections of cast iron drains inside the house. To replace the drain system in one bathroom (which was accessible from the garage below) was $7,211.77. That seemed exorbitant for what looked to me like 1-2 days of work and a couple hundred dollars in materials. There was no detail whatsoever, just a sentenced followed by the very precise but somewhat random sounding price. I suspect the precision of the numbers was supposed to make them seem non-random.

Technician: What do you want to do? Me: Think about it... what do I owed for the drain clearing? Technician: $409. Me: What happened to $77? Technician: You didn't have proper access. A little back and forth followed about what would constitute proper access. Pretty quickly (and quite oddly), he reverted back to $77. I paid the $77 and he left. I called another plumber who didn't think any of the other work actually needed to be done. Rooter Hero never called back to see how I wanted to proceed.

In the background of all this was a lot of chaos at my house due to an unrelated burst water supply hose under my sink which had destroyed most of my floors (and provided easy access to the bathroom drain systems). I suspect the $409 fee and $34,000 estimate was a result of checking local property values and observing the distress we were already under. Again, they did clear the drain. Nice guys.

I woke up this morning and had a bunch of laundry I needed to get done. A few minutes after I started my load, luckily went back into the garage and realize there's water everywhere. I called these guys and responded within 30 minutes. It took the driver around 45 minutes to get to my house and got the job done super quick and efficient. He even had to leave to grab some supplies and came right back to finish the job. Chris Arteaga did an amazing job. I definitely recommend. He was very nice and respectful. They came out with a more
experienced crew after my review was posted. They opened the clean out line, scoped the pipe and found toilet paper stuck in the pipe. They pushed it down and the issue was fixed again. We discussed permanent fix options and they quoted me $7k with all the money I already spent credited towards the work.

I decided to switch toilet paper to a 2-ply since I have a feeling that the main culprit was switching to Quilted Northern 3 ply and online reviews had indicated that the specific toilet paper is difficult to breakdown. It's been 4 months and I have not had a clog since. Going back I now realized that the plumber never took time to ask the necessary questions to help get to the root cause of the problem. I'm glad that I don't have to spend the $7k they recommended and my issues is now resolved.

If I could choose ZERO STARS, I would. We bought an older house and we were doing some remodeling work on it. We were not yet living in the house. The toilet in the Master Bathroom, the farthest room from the street backed up. We called out Rooter Hero based on a google search. They ran the snake and the clog went away for a day. Then it came back. They came out again and re-snaked it. Then it came back. The third time a Manager accompanied the technician and said he needed to go under the house to see what was wrong - so he did. He came back out and said, Your sewer lines are sagging, their are broken straps and there is negative slope to the street; so you need all new piping, 100ft of it. I said, why don't we just replace the broken straps and restore the flow. He said, You can't, once the pipes have sagged the joints won't hold and besides, the negative slope to the street won't be fixed and it will never work. I asked for a bid. He sent me a written bid for.....$17,455!!!!! I said, you can leave and I will talk to my wife. What I really did is ask the remodeling contractor to have a real plumber take a look at it. They went under the house the next day, replaced the 5 broken straps and realigned the pipes. It all works perfectly and its been a month. Total cost: $400 for labor and materials.

Point being - do not trust these guys. Complete scam. None of what the manager said was true. Just looking for a quick score over someone they assumed didn't know any better.

My garbage disposal was not working in my condo and was told by a friend she used Rooter Hero and they where good on work and pricing. So I went to there office in Martinez and asked how much it would be to put in a new disposal (which I already had) they told me $250.00 it's at my rental property so I needed it put it in ASAP I said ok. They where there in about 45 minutes (which was nice) they where there for about 15 minutes and he called me to tell me, it just needed to be reset not replaced. I said great so how much do I owe you $180.00 just to push a button. That is there service call price.

I sent them a message on there website expecting to get a reply, it was a Friday so didn't expect anything till Monday but as of today Wednesday I have heard nothing from them.

i will never call them again, overpriced $180.00 for pushing a button and out of there in 15 minutes is ridiculous.

I didn't have a chance to use their service or even get a quote. After my hot water heater sprung a leak I left a message via Yelp. I received a message to call and schedule an estimate. I had someone else coming to also give me a quote and asked to move the appointment to a later time (1 hour). My other quote got done early, so I called back. It turns out they don't service San Francisco. I asked about my appointment and all they could say was sorry. No one would have bothered to call if i didn't and I would have waited all afternoon for no one to show up. Just disappointing... If you live in San Francisco, don't bother calling.

I'm changing my review from yesterday. Technician finally showed up, Cris, and Glenn in the past, are excellent at their craft. I would recommend this service. Don't know if costs are different than most other plumbing services but would use this company again. I hardly ever give 5 stars but this company is close in my experience. Only suggestion is that time of arrival be more on target. I waited most of the day...but still would use again, assuming there were confirmation and follow up re arrival time.

Chris Ortega came out and fixed a problem created by and not-detected by another plumber. Our water heater needed a new sensor, and after it was installed, we smelled a gas leak. We called the original installer out, and he said that it couldn't be anything he did, checked for a leak, and claimed he fixed it. The gas leak came back. Chris came out and found the leak -- the sensor was improperly installed -- and fixed it quickly while being polite and professional.

If I could give a minus I would.
Day one: They came to my home and for $650 did a drain cleaning. Now less than 6 weeks later my toilets are all backed up again.
Day 2 call back: I called them and reported the problem. They were to arrange someone to come to my home between 9 and 11 the next day.
Day 3: At noon I called them and they were very sorry. I was promised someone would come 12 to 2 the next day.
Day 4: 7am I received a call that they would be arriving 12 to 2.
Day 4: at 2:30 pm I called both corporate and local offices and they again were very sorry. Some one would call me back to let me know what time someone could come in next half an hour.
Day 4: 3pm no call back
I called the corporate and local offices and was told they were very sorry. This company is not only very sorry, they waste your time, and take your money and provide no service.

I called these people using the crack-and-peel ad they put on the front page of the East Bay Times. I had a clogged kitchen drain. The ad offers drain cleaning for $77. When they finally came (over 36 hours later with 3 time changes) they told me that it would be an additional $330 to take off the p-trap under the kitchen sink. It should not cost this kind of money to take the p-trap off from underneath the kitchen sink.

This company is crooked. This is false advertising.

1. Although they give you a two hour window for their arrival, they may NOT show up for hours passed that time frame.

2. They DON'T honor their own coupons. Maybe it depends on the technician, either way it's unacceptable.

3. If you think something is off, get a second opinion. You will most likely find that you were LIED to just so they could try to push additional services $$ that weren't needed.

This was my experience. My advice would be to try to find a trusted company through recommendations from people you know. Save yourself the trouble of wasting your precious time and money.

We had a different company come out a week ago and back up cane back. So we called Rooter Hero's and we are so happy with the service. They were here within two hours. No overtime fees or after hour fees they're ready to help 24/7!! We had the pleasure of having Basilio at our house. He was prompt, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and educational. He explained everything thoroughly and I felt very comfortable with his ability. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! He also set up to stop back by and check under the house free of charge. Rooter Hero, not sure which branch the crew was from, came to my Martinez Residence to diagnose a water leak in my kitchen area that I had called for In August 2021. My laminate floor was warped, buckling on the seams, and water was seeping out between the panel strips. They performed a very thorough plumbing assessment: in the kitchen, crawl space, and between the walls of my garage. A clogged flexible hose from behind the dishwasher was found to be the source. They removed the part and showed me the occlusion inside the hose that caused the leak. The parts that needed replacement; the repair of the wall in my garage; ensuring that the dishwasher would function with no leaks; and fixing the plumbing took 2 days.
Glenn and Dillon, the plumbers, worked in a synchronized manner. They explained and demonstrated as they went along. Additionally, they provided satisfactory explanations to my multiple questions. It was not hard to recognize that these two worked as a team, managed their time effectively, and were knowledgeable about the trade.
This was my first business with Rooter Hero, and needless to say, I was very happy with their work and the charges were reasonable. I would not hesitate to request for these two plumbers again. Thank you Rooter Hero.

I would not use this company called in morning around 12 :35 they confirmed my appointment for 3 :00 p.m. they text me at 2:59 I texted them back @ 3:02 their message said they had a plumber comming to my house. When the plumber didn't come,I was told since I didn't reply rapidly (I took 3 minutes to reply ) they said 4:00p.m no plumber
Then they said they would be at my house between 5 30p.m
To 7:30 pm!!!! I wasted the whole day with a outside leaking pipe..I finally contacted a handy man a referral from a friend, he was here at his appointed time and fixed the problem. So if you want to wait all day while this company does a bait and switch with their customers good luck

Great service, reasonable pricing. We were able to use a $77 promotional deal for drain cleaning. The people were nice on the phone when we called, and someone was able to come out pretty quickly. This was on a weekend, so I would expect service to be slower, but they were able to accommodate us just fine. The service worker was friendly, did the work, and explained everything. He also told us that our particular problem was actually with the cities drain system in the sewer, and that we could call the city instead of him; he told us this before he did the work, but when we tried to call the city we couldn't get through, so we had him go ahead. I was impressed that he told us this and would not have charged us. Overall, I was very happy with this place and would definitely call them again if I had a problem.

Not a good day when the kitchen sink starts backing up. Tried using the snake to clear clog but only managed about 8-10 feet. Not an easy task. Luckily we were able to get in touch with Rooter Hero on weekend. No extra charge or fees for weekends. That was a good start! The dispatch gave us a call couple times to check time and advise of us when their representative will be arriving. Victor arrived on time, Ofcos mask on, and with a very friendly attitude. He was there to do the job but he made sure it was done correctly. Also he gave us a few pointers to help keep the drains clean. Friendly service on top of friendly staff. They are definitely our go to guys or you can say our Hero's!!!

Totally happy! I haven't needed a plumber for a long time (knock on wood). I had a clogged/really slow draining bathroom sink drain. Rooter Hero had a $77 ValPak coupon for drain cleaning. Diamora from Rooter Hero responded to my after midnight request (!) (via Yelp) to schedule appointment the next day (10/2/19). At my request for afternoon, she scheduled between 3-5 PM. I got a phone call at about 2:30 to say they'd be here between 3:30 - 4:00.

CARLOS ROBLES arrived at about 3:40. Perfect! The quick scheduling response and arrival would earn 4 stars alone. But CARLOS? Terrific! Very friendly, polite introduction. He put on booties before coming inside. Put down plastic on the floor and under sink. Explained everything he was doing. And because he only had to clean out the P-trap (gross), I was only charged $54 instead of the $77 drain cleaning coupon. WOW! Bless you Rooter Hero!

I saw some Yelp reviews complaining about Rooter Hero not honoring coupons for free camera inspection or other extras. But my coupon very clearly said that the camera inspection was valid with a standard drain cleaning, which I took to mean NOT with the $77 special. And the other discounts (e.g. 15% senior discount) clearly said not to be combined with any other offer. So people need to read the coupons before expecting something that isn't offered.

Thank you Rooter Hero - I now have a plumber in my phone book that I can count on and refer to my neighbors.

Rooter Hero is NOT an honest reliable service provider. Although they appear nice they are not thorough in their work and I may say even dishonest in the appraisal and diagnosis of our clogged up kitchen sink and toilet bowl. They installed a new sink disposer which I bought and left the installation loose which caused more problems and leakage. They ran a snake through the plumbing but were too lazy to go underneath the house and thoroughly drain the pipe opening drain outside. Very unreliable and use deceptive practices to increase the cost of the repair.

December 30. My faucet broke in the spare bathroom. Water was shooting up in the air. Thankfully security came out and turned off the water. Then I called several plumbers. Couldn't find anyone that could help me.Then I found Rooter Hero and they came over and turned on my water. And they came out in 2 days and replaced the faucet.Very nice technicians and efficient. The check the new faucet for leaking. I will call Rooter Hero Plumbing again if I have a plumbing problem. I recommend Rooter Hero Plumbing

Called Rooter Hero last night be fix a clogged kitchen sink. We were lucky to have Chris A. come out to fix the problem. He was very polite and courteous especially since he had to communicate with my 90 yr old mother. He quickly and efficiently unclogged the pipes outside then took apart the pipes under the sinks and unclogged them as well. After he made sure to clean the floors and cabinet under the since and did leave a mess at all. He even gave my mom a terrific senior discount and explained patiently the problem and what he did to solve. We were very fortunate to have someone like Chris come to help us today. My husband Jerry Douglas and I had a terrible water leaking from our toilet right in the middle of the Corona Virus pandemic. We called Rooter Hero late on Saturday and bright and early Sunday morning our plumber Daniel arrived with a huge smile, a warm personality and his tool box with rubber gloves on a mask and brand new shoe covers. Daniel was beyond professional and courteous. He immediately went to work found the problem, went and bought the part installed and then gave us a free full home plumbing inspection. I can not recommend this company highly enough. They are terrific and we will be using them from now on for all our plumbing needs.

Summary:
In my 35 years in the Berkeley Hills, I've never had a better experience with a plumber. They came within the two hour window, did the job as quoted and did not push any upsells (as others have done).

Work details:
Main sewer lateral (70 year old terra cotta) clogged with tree roots required EXTRA work performed diligently by Julio. His supervisor? (Sal) arrived a FULL hour into the job - they consulted and offered (at no additional cost) to use the camera to VERIFY that ALL the roots were removed. I gained a new appreciation that snaking a drain is a SKILLED job - Julio and Sal are experts.

Customer Service:
I tried to push Lilly into an earlier appointment - she was courteous, professional but held fast. As it was Julio arrived within 30 minutes on the EARLY side of the window. It's good when a dispatcher does not overpromise!

Overall:
My house was built in 1946 with galvanized steel pipes, cast iron drains, inefficient furnaces, no insulation, wooden shingle roofing, fuse boxes, etc....
I've modernized all the systems and as a result have engaged a number of the trades. Rooter Hero was in the top 10%, start to finish.

The company reached out to me and credited the amount I paid the company I hired to give me a second opinion.

Stay away from this company. If I could rate them a negative 5 stars I would. Earlier this week I called them to take care of a drainage clog using their $77 coupon with a complimentary camera inspection. They falsely claimed my problem was that my main sewage line was broken and needed to be repaired or replaced. After the shock of the quotes they gave me a called another company for a second inspection, it turns out they lied and the problem was a customary clog. Rooter Hero tried to charge me over $15,000 for s job that cost under $200. I have video that the second company provided that shows clearly that there was nothing wrong with the main line. This company is dishonest and i encourage anyone, especially women considering to hire their services stay away. I plan on submitting a formal complain to the BBB ad I've called to speak with a manager to get a refund on the money i payed and to date I haven't heard back. Attached are the quotes they provided which were the first indication there was something shady with this company. I requested an email copy on company letterhead of these quotes and never got them, I wonder why.

Completely unreliable. Called them on Thursday with a clogged drain issue. They scheduled for Friday 8-10 am. At 9 :15 am they called and said they had some problem won't get to me until noon. I had to go to work, decided to reschedule. Rescheduled to Sunday, 10 to noon. Called them at 11:30, they said they were running late, will be between noon and 1. Called them at 1 pm, they said they are still running t late, but I am the next on the list for their technician. Called them again at 2:30 pm - told me their technician in our area called in sick and didn't come to work that day (!!!). Rescheduled to Monday 8-10 am. Called them at 9:15, they said a dispatcher would call me back. Never heard from them, nobody ever came.

I am NEVER using this company again and strongly recommend anyone not to use them. They should stop doing business like that.

UPD: After i posted the review, a technician showed up at my house within 1 hour. i was not home, so he agreed to come the following day and came at the time that we agreed upon. He unclogged the drain and gave some advice for future. i am disappointed that i had to write my review and give only one star, but i appreciate the work, so my rating went up to three stars.

Scam alert. Simple clog in kitchen needed fixing. They suggested changing all pipes un home for $10000 and did not fix the clog. Called regular plumbing company and they fixed in 5 minutes for minimum service fee. I read a lot of similar reviews. Owner does great ads on radio and seemed very honest...not!

I really wanted to support a locally owned business, but they just didn't come through for me. I called on a Saturday to have my clogged sewer line cleaned out and got an appointment for the next day between 10AM and 12PM.

On Sunday, I got a call at 11:30AM to let me know that their dispatcher would call again when someone was available. By 1PM, I hadn't received a second call, so I decided to cancel the appointment.

From the other reviews, it sounds like they perform a good service when they show up. However, I never got to experience that service because they couldn't get out of the starting blocks.

I won't make any subjective comments. I'll just say what happened, draw your own conclusions.

I described the problem over the phone: My garbage disposal wouldn't turn on, it just hummed. They said something was probably stuck in there. They'd have to disassemble and clear it. Probably about $100

They sent somebody out. He inspected it, went out to his van for 20 minutes and came back with a $230 estimate.

I said no and called another plumber. He spent 15 minutes fixing it and charged me $95.

I highly recommend Rooter Hero. They are fairly priced. They charge you for the service only, not hourly, like Rotor rooster charges $100 just to come take a look at your problem. There was no set charge just to come assess my problem. I had a plugged up tub. Julio came out and fixed the problem, he was able to fix it, very clean and courteous. He left my tub looking better than before. Only charged me $77 to come snake my tub after hours.

We had a plumbing emergency Thu Dec 17th. My husband called Rotonda Hero. They scheduled an appointment for Fri Dec 18th at 1pm to 5pm. My husband had to have open heart surgery that day but I still made certain I was back at our house for the appointment. Roto Hero never called and never showed up. I called and they said they were trying to get a time from the technician. After 5pm. I rescheduled to Sat. They gave me an appointment at 10am. Again they no showed, and didn't call. All the while we have no kitchen sink. I rescheduled for Sunday between 10am to 12n. They were to call 30 mins out. I called at 930am to make certain things were still on track, and they said yes. They had not shown up by 1130am, and no call, so I called again. They had no idea when the technician would be here. I cancelled and will never, ever call them again. They are the worst I have ever encountered

We made an appointment and were told that someone would be here between 9 and 11 a.m. When 11:15 rolled around, I called and was told that the dispatcher called my husband and left a message saying that someone would be here between 11 and 1. At 12:45, I called again. The dispatcher called me and said it's now looking more like 1:30 and that we never had an appointment for 9 to 11. Seriously? If you have nothing better to do than sit around all day waiting for a plumber, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. No customer service!

Don't believe the hype! The $77 for drain cleaning service is bunk. I called this service based upon the sticky advertisement on the Sunday paper. The guy came over to assess the backed up drain in my kitchen. After less than 5 minutes of examining the pipes, he says, this is more than just a backed up drain. It'll cost about $225 dollars to fix...! With that, I said forget it! He left quickly as though he knew he was trying to pull a fast one on me. I did get my backed up drain fixed for half the price Rooter Hero plumbing tried to charge me.

I was able to get an appointment on a Sunday afternoon for a FREE estimate (another company wanted to charge me $189 just to have someone come out, since it was the weekend), the dispatcher called to give us accurate updates on when the plumber would arrive and when he did arrive (right on time), Basilio was knowledgeable, friendly, thorough and willing to explain what he was doing every step of the way. We had an awful odor coming from our kitchen sink and couldn't find the reason or solution ourselves. Julio arrived to troubleshoot the issue. accurately narrowed it down and resolved the issue during the same appointment.

He replaced the plumbing under our sink which definitely needed to be done. From that day onward our home was back to normal. I called them on Saturday and they came out within a couple hours. Honest and fair pricing. I definitely recommend them and will be hiring them soon for future projects.

My original appointment was for the 9-11 am slot, which was postponed to 11-1, 2-4, 4-6, and eventually rescheduled for the following Wednesday. Rooter Hero has colors which imitate a national-brand plumbing company. Their technician showed up when I had an appointment, and so I trusted him. He started by changing pipes, showing me a rusted pipe (which turned out not to be any pipe here) - and then a pipe with holes in it (also not one of our pipes), as if these were reasons to be putting on new pipes. Is this ethical?, a ran a snake 4 times. When my son got home and took him to the farther access to run a line, the technician packed up his truck and took off! The office stated the Technician's decision was to not do that service! We called another plumbing company, who ran a bigger bore from the far access and cleared the line. How are these guys allowed to be in business?

We had a clogged toilet and requested an appointment via online scheduler. Got a call back within the hour and the service technician came in another 2 hours.

Service technician, Julio Septien, was super polite and competent. Wore shoe guards whenever he was in the house and put wheel guards on his equipment to protect my carpet. He didn't try to charge me extra fees for unnecessary services and he was true to what he quoted me regardless of how long it took to fix my problem. He even had to call a specialist with a camera to come do further investigation and there were no additional charges for that. I recommend Rooter Hero and ask for Julio Septien if he's available.

We have been waiting all day for a plumber to show up to unclog our tub. One excuse after the other from these people. First Cole's truck breaks down and then there is a glitch in their communication tablet. The reason we even called them in the first place is they had a coupon we wanted to use. We just cancelled the whole thing and will use a different company to do the job. But we will have to wait till tomorrow because we don't want to pay overtime charges for an evening visit. This really sucks because this is a rental and our tenants have no way to shower until it is unclogged. But that can't happen till a plumber actually shows up.

Called them Monday afternoon, they said someone would be out within the hour, they couldn't quote me over the phone. Ronnie came out within 45 min and was very nice and polite. He said the snake was normally 300 something (oh crap I thought!), but they could do it on special for 77.00. So he did, also told me approximately where the clog might be and confirmed that it is probably in an area that the city is responsible for. So I can give them a try next time.

So like everyone else I was looking for an affordable plumber. I got a coupon in the mail and figured I would go for the lowest price. The job was to fix a plugged up bathtub drain in the home my Wife and I just purchased. Things are a bit hectic for us as we just purchased our first home 4 months after having our first kid.

Anyways, I booked an appointment thru the call center working for Rooter Hero for yesterday from 12:00-2:00. At about 11:45 I received a call from the call center dispatcher to confirm my appointment window of 12:30-2:30. As you can tell the appointment window moved a bit but I told them I could wait here longer for them. (We don't live here yet, so I am just sitting in an empty house with our 4 month old with the babysitter at home). At about 3:45 I called Rotter Hero's only available number and was directed to a call center where I was informed that they could not get to my appointment until 9:30 PM. YES - 9:30PM. As an alternative to waiting until 9:30 PM in an empty house, I chose to move my appointment to 9:00AM - 11:00AM the next day (today). I was told by the call center that a note would be added to my account so the dispatcher would prioritize my appointment the next morning. Long story short, I just got a call from the call center confirming my appointment for a day later then we scheduled the night before (so tomorrow not today). I asked them to try and get someone out to me like they originally promised the day before but apparently they are short staffed and could not keep the appointment they committed to.

I have now left my 4 month old Son at home with a baby sitter two days in a row only to have this company reschedule or miss appointment windows.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They have 0 customer service, and outsource everything to cheap call centers.

So frustrating. If someone could recommend other plumbing companies on this thread I'm sure everyone would appreciate an alternative to this very poorly run company.

This is a company we have used several times. Our home is 46 years old. Last evening at 530p our faucet in the backyard wouldn't shut off. We turned off the main water switch hoping someone would be able to help us this evening. It took one call to Rooter Hero and their technician Omar Mendoza was here within 90 minutes. This is not a review of services, but of very poor communication skills and inability to properly schedule. Rooter Hero, a true hero!! I want to preface this by saying I have never left a Yelp review and had to make a new account just to post this. But, I had to share how amazing this company is!

Our toilets & showers started to leak sewage at 10pm on Halloween. We didn't know what to do -- with extended family staying at our house and a funeral the next day (yes this was truly a nightmare). We called about 10 different plumbers frantically from 10pm onwards trying to find someone who could come that night.

We got ahold of Rooter Hero at 11pm and could not have been more pleased! Misi answered the phone and got us a technician in THIRTY MINUTES. Enters Julio, arriving at 11:30pm ON HALLOWEEN. He was our savior. He snaked our line and when our pipes proved a little too difficult for the equipment he had on him, he cleared as much as he could and promised to return first thing in the morning. He arrived at 8:00am the following morning with more supplies and promptly repaired our pipes in all of one hour. He then proceeded to clean up the bathroom. Truly an A+++++ plumber and experience. We will be using their services again! Thank you, Rooter Hero!!!

This is one of the most unprofessional, dishonest companies I've ever tried to work with. They don't deserve even one star but the app requires one to post a review. I contacted Rooter Hero based on a flier I received in the mail from them which listed a local number to me (650-458-0151). Initially I was told they would dispatch my call to a local technician and they would call me. I should've been suspicious because the return call was from an out of state number.
About 30 minutes later I received a call that our request for service was being dispatched and it could be a 2-4 hour wait. I received two more calls over the next four hours. Both times I was told they were just waiting for a technician to call back and would be dispatched. After 5 hours I got another call that they were still waiting for a technician and did I want to schedule an appointment for the next day or wait. I opted to wait. One and half hours later I received a call explaining there was a mistake made. Although they showed I was scheduled for service, my city (South San Francisco) was out of their service area. I asked how could that be when they sent me a flier with a local number. The person I was speaking with (not one of the earlier callers) couldn't explain he said it was a.mistake. I asked why I wasn't told this when I first called 8 hours earlier. There was no explanation. Just I told you. We made a mistake.

They even sent me an email confirming my appointment and yet I was still told we were out of the area.

I would recommend no one ever contact this shady, disreputable organization.

Toilet drain was blocked and i called them coz I saw a coupon. The guy comes, checks and says my sewage pipe is broken and that i need to get it fixed the same day or else, it will backup again. He tried hard to push me to get the work done with his ridiculous prices. I didn't buy into that. He quoted me from 4k to 20k with 1 yr to 3 yr warranties. 2 days back I got a local plumber recommended by my neighbor, who checked and said there was NO broken pipe, he cleared the drain, installed a clean out - all for less than 1k with 5 hr warranty. He even offered to come 2 days later to check if his clean up is still working.
NEVER fall for those coupons and don't go for these people.

Was dissatisfied with the service this time, called to check tub spout because it was leaking. He put silicone putty, didn't fix the leak. My husband showed a problem with the other toilet, he replaced the emergency shut off valve, removed and replaced fill valve. The fill valve never worked. He came at 6 and didn't finish till after 10. Before he left he checked the tub spout, water was still leaking all over the place, this happened on a Friday. He came back Monday, he said he could fix the tub spout again by putting more sealant product. Still leaked. He didn't charge us for leaky spout, charged us for the work on the toilet. Fill valve never worked. Nothing was fixed. Unsatisfied customer.

Both John Alex and Julio worked all day and got the issue resolved and fixed, always explaining what they were doing. Very professional, knowledgeable and honest. Made an appointment for plumber to come out at 9 am by sending them a picture of the pipe that was leaking and required replacement. I had to contact them at 10:30 to find out if anyone was still coming out. They said they will send someone out immediately. Well, no one showed up until noon. The tech saw the pipe and said he wasn't the plumber and someone else will come out to give me a quote. I have many questions about the whole episode, but I'll just leave it at a one star review and contact a local REAL plumber.

One of our worst experiences. Shower in one of our bathrooms started to spill water from low speed to full speed. Scary experience to be in. We asked for help. My wife and I looked for reviews and tried to find a company who whould offer 24/7 service. Rooter Hero Plumbing was one of them. We called them at 7 PM PST Friday night. We were told someone will be dispatched at 9 PM. Then they said it will be a delay. Our shower was going to full speed in a building with many units with us being at the 2nd floor. We kept calling but we were told they are busy and short of people and someone can help us at 11 PM....We were waiting more with house looking like a sauna just to find out that nobody is availbable till next day. They told us we are on the priority list after 7 AM Saturday next day. We had a nightmare night hoping the water won't go over the 2 inches border so it won't start flooding. It did not! Next day Saturday around 10 AM we had someone coming to help - That was 15 hours after our 1st call? Is this 7/24 service or 2nd day service after 9 AM? They gave us 2 options and we have chosen the least expansive one...873 $ (wow) to replace the cartdridge for the shower. The guy told us is a 50/50 chance. Well we tried it. It didn't work. Then we had a 2nd option 4200$ to have the shower fixed. Or let it running because they didn't have a fix...after 19 hours since we called them for a company who adevertise is 24/7 with satisfaction guarantee ...Huge amount for an average family. A guy named John well mannered overall agreed to give us a discount so we pay only 3600 only. Our luck was a neighbors. She called another plumbing company. She said they may do the work cheaper. I talked to their manager and he gave me the hourly rate - 185$. I asked if it is possible to stop the shower running instead of paying 3600.
He said yes and it will be 1 hour work. He sent a plumber to my house and the work was done in 15 minutes ...Water running was stopped. I paid 250 $ overall bill instead of 3600 to the Rooter Heroes.

I'm sure they are a fine company, just not if you are trusting them to treat your elderly mother fairly or with competence. They were called out to replace a faulty disposal, but then decided to check the crawl space and found standing water. Their written proposal was to replace 20 feet of sewer pipe with an estimated cost over $5k. One problem - there was no sewage smell. They showed up shovel in hand ready to dig up a little old ladies crawlspace for no good reason.

A second opinion (backed up by an on-site insurance adjustor) revealed the actual cause was a damaged external source pipe to a garden faucet, with a cost estimated at well under $1k. Do we all make mistakes? Sure. But when that mistake was about to cost a little old lady on a fixed income $5k in worthless fixes, maybe they need to re-evaluate their business practices.

From awful to awesome!

After a disappointing encounter with the call center, botched appointments and contradicting quotes, the Rooter Hero management team of Alex John Gonzalez and Julio Septien made it right! After camera inspection and analysis, clean-out of decades-old tree and shrub root-bound crumbling terra-cotta sewer line, installation of brand new polyethylene pipe, permits and inspections, and a significant pinch to our budget (ouch...but this IS plumbing so we were prepared to have to dig deep) we are thankful for the professional and outstanding service that our team performed...clean, efficient, thoughtful, and thorough.

Had a guest clog the drain to the street by flushing flushable wipes. Which I learned are not flushable so don't make that mistake. I am a firm believer that if a company does a great job, you got to tell everyone about it! Sean Jones did a masterful job working on the pipes and shower and bath fixtures in my master bathroom.
I had a plumbing emergency, Water was leaking through the pipes in the shower walls. I turned off the water main, called Rooter Hero and they were at my home within 1hr. Mind you this was 6:30pm. I called 4 other plumbers and they couldn't schedule me in until the following day. Sean Jones capped my lines off, returned the following day and fixed the issue. This company only cares about making you think they are trying to help you. They fail to clear your simple blockage and claim you have a serious problem that they will have to have someone else look at. This will of course cost a lot more money! I know how to properly snake and clear a line. If I had not stood over there shoulder and called them out on there Con Job Tactics they would never have even used the proper snake to make an attempt at resolving my problem. They are not to be trusted or believed!

We had a water pipe in the backyard break and had to turn off the water main to keep the yard from flooding. Since we had no water to the house it was important to us to have the repair done that same day. Let me say that this happened at about 4:00 p.m. on a week-day. Not week-end or the middle of the night. I figured it wouldn't be too hard to get someone out to fix it. That said, I called 5...FIVE!..different 24 hour emergency plumbers only to be told they couldn't come out until the next day. Rooter Hero was the ONLY one that said they could help us and they were here within 1/2 hour. Isaac was the technician who came to the house and I can't say enough good things about him. He was professional, polite and did a great job. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for someone better. I would not hesitate to recommend Rooter Hero to anyone. A+ in our opinion!

Extremely poor scheduling and customer service. My appointment was from 9-11 this morning for a vacant rental property. So I drove up (I live about an hour away). At 10:30, I get a message that my appointment has been bumped because of an emergency to 2-4. Okay, shit happens, no big deal. I don't want to drive two hours just to come back, so I wait at the house, grab some lunch, generally kill time.
2:00 rolls around, nobody here. 3:00, nobody here. 4:00 rolls around, no body here. My assistant calls and asks for an update, they say the jobs are running long, they'll call back within 20 minutes with an update and an ETA. 4:30 rolls around, nothing. 5:00 rolls around, nothing. 5:30, I give them a call and at first they can't find the appointment at all, then they give me the same line as before that they don't know anything, but they'll call back in 20 minutes. I say that's no good, because you promised that an hour and a half ago. She keeps repeating herself until I say that I want some kind of guarantee that I won't be waiting for another eight hours. All of a sudden I get transferred to another guy who has no idea who I am and I don't know who he is. He's just another guy in the department. He gives me the same line until I make it clear that I'm not waiting another 8 hours and not giving up without a guaranteed arrival time. He says another hour, 6:30, How much do you want to bet the guy won't show up on time?

Update: Just got a call, he's going to be here at 6:45 instead.

Definitely one star only to be able to post the review. Don't waste your time and money by hiring Rooter Hero. Nothing good about their service. At the beginning they didn't finish our project and left it hanging for two months. When they came back to finalize what they supposed to finalize after two months delay, they said they had the last inspection. We checked at the city with the inspectors, and our case still open and no final inspection was scheduled as Rooter Hero claimed. They are super expensive with zero quality and horrible customer service. Their technicians are rude, the whole team never answer a phone call or even call back. They will give you so many promises if you complain to the management, and screw your project up when they receive the money by credit card. If you want quality and respect don't hire them. Management gives fake promises and disappear when you request a refund.

So I had one of those awful emergency plumbing situations, where all the water from my toilet tank emptied onto my wood floor. Even though I shut off the water and the tank was completely drained, water continued to seep out of the toilet tank and its base. Called Rooter Hero, and the reception staff was extremely accommodating. Anthony came out the same day and was able to repair the issue in roughly 10 minutes. I was extremely pleased with the level of service (customer service and timeliness of the repair). Highly recommend these guys! I also used the $50 off coupon that I found on their site. Fabulous.

These guys are GREAT! Our toilets stopped flushing so we first called Roto-Router who said they would come out within 2 hours. After waiting around for 2 hours, Roto-Router called and said it would be at least another 2 hours, probably longer!!! We called around and got Rooter Hero who said they would send a technician out within 1.5 hours and continued thereafter to give us regular text updates on their time of arrival which WAS within 1.5 hours. The technician was polite, knowledgeable, and thorough. Very helpful. Very clean. Gave us lots of information and answered all our questions. The cost reasonable. The toilets now flush. I will use them again.

Well it was one of those days. I had a plugged sink and I had a feeling it would be hard to do. I tried for two days to try and fix it with no luck. I got two other bids by other companies and they were all pretty close. As soon as Greg arrived I could tell he was more experienced then the others. He was 1 on time 2 friendly and well mannered and 3 most important was honest. The total came up less than the other bids even though he had to come back with a commercial pressure hose. I honestly.do not write reviews but this time I had too. If I had a 10 star as a choice he would get it.. This company rocks and ask for Greg to get it done perfect. way to go.

PLEASE READ UPDATE BELOW!
This was the original one star review that has since been updated. Made an appointment for my clogged drain on Monday for a two hour window between 4-6 p.m on Tuesday. Left work early to be home on time for the window. As I'm pulling into my driveway at 4:02, I get a call that they no longer service Pleasanton as of this week, and won't be able to come. Excuse me? I made the appointment the day before and they wait to call me until the time scheduled for the appointment? The only thing the person who called had to say when I complained for the delayed notice was that it wasn't my fault because I am not responsible for it. So I lost an hour of work, and my drain remained clogged for another day because of this very unprofessional behavior.

UPDATE: biggest service surprise EVER. Within minutes of posting this yelp review, the service manager of this company called me to apologize and offered to send out someone immediately to fix the clog on them, along with a one year warranty. Indeed Andreas came out within an hour and had everything resolved. I'm really impressed with the incredible effort at resolution. Rare in today's world. Thank you!

A very nice young man, Dimetrius, came and in a very professional manner explained to me that the problem had nothing to do with the drain but with the toilet itself. He took care of the problem. Rooter Hero came to our rescue when our 2.5 year old 75 gallon water heater was destroyed by faulty plumbing installation performed by a different plumbing company. Ben was an amazing technician who worked from noon to 8 PM between diagnosing the problem, driving to San Leandro from Livermore to pick up a new water heater and installing the heater. He got his manager to help him even though it was a Friday night before Christmas. There was a problem with the new water heater but Ben fixed that problem and gave us a two year warranty on his installation work in addition to the warranty that comes with the water heater. I will definately call Rooter Hero for any plumbing jobs in the future.

When the sump pump that Rooter Hero installed went kapoot within 2 years, they immediately came out to replace the pump. Jesus R. was the lead and he was incredible. He came out in a very timely manner, was professional and courteous, and was very sympathetic to my situation (possible flooded basement!). Not only did they do the work quickly, but Jesus knew that I needed a different type of sump pump that would work more efficiently. All the work was under warranty and everything went very smoothly. Rooter Hero was successful. They unclogged the kitchen line where another rooter company had been unsuccessful. The techs on the job, David and Taurus were excellent. They were efficient, thorough and courteous. Right from Ashley on reception/scheduling and Clark with his notice of arrival time of the technicians to David and Taurus, a first class operation at a fair price. We called because a old u pipe had a hole and was leaking in the bathroom. They were able to fix it. Also helped get the old faucets off and replaced. After moving into my new house I realized that both the kitchen and bathtub drains were clogged. The first plumber I called couldn't unclog them because there was no clean-out valve. I looked online and found Rooter Hero. This was Friday afternoon before Memorial Day. Greg Gunderson came out and confirmed that the lack of a clean-out valve made it difficult but said they could do it for me. As work proceeded, the news got worse and worse. They had to get into the sewer pipes from inside the house and everything they touched seemed to crumble. I don't remember all the names of the workers who were here for the pleasure, but Taurus was the lead on clearing the clogs. By then it was apparent that both the sewer pipes and water pipes were in terrible condition, so I chose to have them replaced and to have a proper clean-out valve installed. They also installed new bathtub and kitchen faucets for me. It sounds pretty simple describing it now, but nothing was easy. The configuration of the pipes was odd, making it difficult to replace them without opening up the walls. Carlos took over the lead for this part of the job. At times I was frustrated because we sometimes didn't get started until mid-morning, but it was worth the wait. Every step of the way the work crew took care of me, making sure I had running water at the end of each day and always cleaning up after themselves. Oh, I forgot to mention that periodically during the job I was babysitting for my 3-month-old twin grand babies and the workers were were literally tiptoeing in and out of the house to avoid waking them. Every employee I came in contact with during the job was professional, thorough and considerate. I am glad its over and am grateful to all of them, especially Greg, Taurus and Carlos for their help. Nice to have clean pipes.

Overall we are extremely satisfied with the thorough work that was done in our home. We had a washing machine back up and after a few attempts to unclog the line, Alex, our Technician , took a look under the house to see if there was more to the problem. He found that there was a small leak in our pipes, caused by corrosion and the accumulation of build up in the pipe through the years, that it needed to be replaced. Long story short, we went through a line replacement - Greg was able to work with us on the price and warranty. In our world, if they are able to provide us with an extended warranty, they are confident in their product and work so that alone was huge for us. We have not had any back up problems since. My only comment would be that a follow up inspection should be done. This leak was in the crawlspace of our home. Just a simple reassurance that the work stuck and nothing further is going on. If a leak were to continue down there, this would affect our foundation which is major $$$$. I should have asked that to be included in our contract.

Found these guys online and honestly I wasn't too picky since I have this known recurring problem that just needed a snake every now and then. But what I ended up with was probably the most ideal service call I think I've ever had.
Marcus showed up on time as was pre-confirmed by phone earlier that morning, was the picture perfect model for professionalism and friendliness, did the job like it was his own house and confirmed with a few high-stress sink drains to verify that the problem was indeed fixed. What more could you possibly ask for?
Other details worth mentioning are he automatically put on shoe covers before entering in even though I stretched my own level of dirt tolerance by walking straight in with sandals. He laid out a very nice floor shield from the door to the access port that allowed him to leave essentially without a trace. He made recommendations on things to watch out for (e.g., corroded sewage line under the house) but made no hard-sell. And to top it off, he gave me the lower-priced deal going on for $77 despite my original find which was just a coupon for $25 off the regular price.
I'd definitely have them out again when needed and recommend them to friends.
