I called Rod, who quickly responded, and came out the same day. We had several outlets and light switches that showed evidence of fire due to original aluminum wiring. He pigtailed those, and also rehabbed our breaker box. He also found other potential fire hazards that he immediately rectified.
Rod and his crew were very courteous, thorough, competent, and accommodating! We had several large dogs here, and he was immediately comfortable and good working around them.

I called Rod's Electric to come out and troubleshoot an issue I was having with a circuit breaker that kept tripping. Every time I tried to reset it it would make a buzzing sound and trip the breaker again. I tried to troubleshoot The issue myself the best I could but just could not figure out why it was tripping. Rod's electric came out and I explained the situation and showed him what was going on. He began to troubleshoot the entire system by eliminating one socket and switch at a time using his fault detector. He was able to locate the source of the problem which turned out to be a wire all the way in the back of my house in the patio covering that was arcing and shorting out the entire house on that breaker. Rod was very methodical in eliminating what it could possibly be until he is finally able to find the source of the short. Rod was very friendly and professional and did a great job. I highly recommend Rod's electric to anyone that needs any electrical work done.

Rod and Riley are awesome! I recently bought a house with a long list of electrical issues to address. A neighbor recommended Rod, and he responded immediately to my inquiry. He came out on the weekend to do a walkthrough and give me an estimate. He was knowledgable and fairly priced. I scheduled a day with him shortly thereafter, and Rod and Riley showed up on time, and tackled every issue I listed. They were super professional, a joy to chit chat with, and above all - their work was done up to code, and with extreme care. I've been meaning to do a review for Rod, as it's hard to find a really good Electrian. Rod is responsive, professional and does really neat work. He and his assistant not only did great work that was minimally invasive to our drywall, but they were very careful with our things and cleaned up so you would hardly know they had been there. EXCELLENT service. They were actually able to come out the following day of my request. Rod and his step son were amazing as a team. We had an issue with one of our switches not working and also needed a chandelier hung. Rod was patient and found the problem...fixed . His step son wired and hung the chandelier in our bathroom in no time. . They cleaned any mess that was made.

I contacted a lot of electricians and most of them didn't even respond. Rod responded quickly to my e-mail. Communicated clearly when he was available to look at the variety of small jobs (replacing problematic ceiling fan, fixing non functioning door bell and fixing sauna heater).

He just looked at the Sauna Heater and it started working (so he didn't need to fix that). :-)

Both the ceiling fan and door bells required us to replace the units and Rod was able to quickly diagnose this and was able to return within a few days when we'd purchased another new fan (based upon his recommendation of where to get reliable fans). I will definitely be calling Ron in the future.

Had a bathroom electrical problem that was beyond my capabilities, so I called Rod. He and an assistant showed up fairly quickly and not only fixed the problem, but he was creative in his solution. He also advised me of an opportunity to upgrade the lighting in the master bath (it had always been poor). I jumped at it and he did a great job. I told him what else I had planned to do for improving the electrical setup in that room and he gave me some pointers to make sure that I was on the right track. He could have done it much faster and better that I could, of course, but I can be a bit cheap and like to do some of my own work. I gave him a nice tip, not only because he did excellent work but because he gave me great advice for doing some additional work myself.

We have a new company we were setting up in Huntington Beach during the recent COVID situation. Our company was also recently asked to help build some PPE equipment for local first responders and were designated as an emergency essential supplier. Our fridge kept going out when we'd turn the oven on to bake. Our landlord called Rod and he showed up, checked everything out. Turns out GFCI was 15 amp when it shouldve been 20. He also rewired the outlet so the fridge was on it's own and not sharing with the oven. Thank you Rod for showing up the same day this problem started!! No food was wasted or had to be thrown out since you fixed it asap.

I needed help with an emergency. We thought a tv installer nicked a wire in the wall. I called an electrician who was too busy to help. Next on the list was Rod. He scheduled me for the very next morning. He also took a great deal of time to figure out the problem so he'd might avoid opening the wall. He finally figured out hat the vibration of the installer shook two wires in a junction box and forced them to touch. He separated the wires and buttoned it up and was very reasonable. This man is not only good at his profession but also quick to respond and thoughtful and intelligent about how he approaches the situations.

I phoned Rod over two weeks about a tripped breaker that wasn't resetting and numerous outlets in one room that stopped working. He answered my phone call immediately, and asked if I would be available later on that day for him to stop by. I texted him my address and 4 hours later he texted me that he was on his way. Showed up shortly afterwards. I left him alone in my house cause I had to quickly drop off my daughter for dance class. Came back 20 minutes later and he was still working. He did a great job diagnosing the problem. It was not a bad breaker after all. There was a short from all the crazy rain we had outside on one of the outlets that was connected on the same circuit as my other outlets. He fixed the problem in under one hour. I found him to be polite, honest, and reasonably priced.

Just wanted to say Rod came over to help us troubleshoot a couple electrical mysteries with our new house (no power to attic lights, outside GFI outlet didn't work). We initially called an Electrician on a flyer we found on our door step. After calling I looked up there company on yelp and was surprised that they had a 2 star rating with over 100 reviews. I read some and immediately canceled. I looked for an Electrician on yelp and was impressed that Rod's had 50 reviews and a 5 star rating. We called and made a appointment. Oscar was the Electrician we communicated with. When he was unable to be here at the agreed time he communicated with us right away. I have to tell you, we thought we had a huge problem. It turned out to be an easy fix for Oscar and his helper. They were both courteous, honest and answered all our questions. They are very professional and trustworthy. The prices are very fare. All these reviews are true. Call these guys for any electrical. You will not regret it.

He is one of the best handymen we have worked with. Rod and his team are on time, honest, and do a great job as promised. If that wasn't enough, he also beats all other quotes. We had him upgrade a panel, add a few outlets, and install a few flood lamps around the exterior.

Any concerns or questions were always addressed. It's nice to know that he can communicate the issues rather than wait for the customer to question the work. This is rare!

This might seem like a minor point, but he also asked if it was ok to take an orange from our tree and use our restroom. Other contractors from the past, all of whom are licensed as well, have taken fruit from our garden and bottled drinks from our storage without asking. Sadly, those guys will never be used again. Rod, however, is a keeper!

I called Rod about a week ago to get a quote for a ceiling fan install and to fix a broken outlet, and learned that he charges about half of what our Home Depot contracted electrician would have cost us. So, we ended up scheduling on the spot.

We hired Rob again. This time we had him come out and install ceiling fans in our 3 bedrooms that did not have them. This meant crawling around up in our attic on one of the hottest days in March.

All 3 rooms look great. Except one room the fan didn't work. Which was a manufacturing defect with the fan, nothing Rod could do about it.

So he came back out 2 weeks later to swap out the fans. He and his assistant are super professional. My 2 year old son had fun playing peek-a-boo with them while they worked.

We are again happy customers and refer Rod to anyone in a heartbeat.

We will definitely being using him again for any future electrical work.

When we recently faced major work on our badly water-damaged kitchen, we turned to Yelp to locate local contractors. We considered quality of workmanship, knowledge, cost, time factors, licensed and bonded, warranty policies, customer relations and communication. We checked the positive and negative comments and placed these into context. For our electrical work, we identified three contractors who fit the necessary criteria to relocate outlets, add several new outlets and built-in USB charging ports, and work with aluminum wiring.

While the estimates were in the same range, the deciding factors were communication, experience, customer rapport and creativity. We needed new dedicated outlets for appliances. Two of the people wanted to replace the main breaker box or run new lines for outlets. Rod noticed that we had two 220-volt lines that had been used for electric ovens and cooktop; these lines could be split into two 110-volt lines each for four dedicated circuits, without having to run new lines to the breaker box.

We had to convert a wall-mounted over-the-sink track light into a hard-wired system. Rod suggested that we replace this with three LED recessed rotatable spotlights in the ceiling, which we could connect to a dimmer. These new lights look fantastic and are more efficient than what we had.

Communication by phone, email, or text (preferred) was always upbeat, with quick responses. He gave us no-nonsense time frames and answered questions easily and clearly. He and his sons and crew worked efficiently and cleaned up after every visit.

His assessment included a complete inspection of all circuits involved; one of the existing outlets was badly matched to an outdoor outlet (improper copper to aluminum join). When Rod opened the cover and checked, the wiring had gotten so hot the insulation had melted and charred, and wires were fused. Also, the circuit should have been 15 amps but was protected at the panel by a 25-amp breaker. He repaired the damage and replaced the breaker with one of proper rating, and tested everything when all installations were completed.

We are exceedingly pleased with the work done by Rod and his family crew. There is no doubt that for other remodeling projects, we will be contracting with Rod's Electric. If it were possible to award more than five stars, we would do so without hesitation. We feel Rod deserves and has earned our highest recommendation.

What a fantastic google find! Around 10pm, i had an outlet smoking and sparking in which i plugged in a new heater. Immediately unplugged, started researching google and came across Rod's. After having some very bad experiences with local electricians here in Newport Beach, I am so grateful to have found Rod. He is by far the best in every way. Yesterday, seemed like the hottest day of the year. I live in an old home with no air conditioning, and was using fans and portable air conditioning to stay cool. A circuit failed and I lost power to the living and sleeping areas. What luck.

I jumped on yelp and sorted through all the reviews. Made a few calls to get estimates and decided to go with Rod. He and Eddy showed up and got straight to work, less than 10 minutes later he had everything working and he then explained to me what the problem was.

Our kitchen lights were so dim it was hard to see in there at night. When one of the bulbs went out I tried to change it. The whole can came dangling down from the ceiling. Rod returned my call (quite a few companies did not, and one I reached told me there was a two week wait for service). Rod explained that the fixtures are no longer manufactured and suggested replacing all the lights with modern LEDs. What a difference this has made! Rod's price was fair, he was available quickly, and the new lights work very well.

I needed a ceiling fan installed so I called Rod based on the reviews here. Well first he answered the phone! That in itself was impressive. Then he had me text my address and said he'd let me know later in the day when he could do it, probably the next day.

He came the next morning and got it in stalled in about an hour. Well worth the money since I'd still be staring at the instructions. Thanks Rod.

Update: In July I was unable to remove the glass cover to change the bulb. I contacted Rod who was also unable to get it off. After getting jerked around by Customer Support for the manufacturer I tried the store again and they finally sent me out a replacement glass cover and light kit so I wouldn't have to break the glass. But to replace the light kit you had to break the glass so at that point I just said I'm done with this mess.

I texted Rod, now it's now 4 months after he installed the ceiling fan, to tell him. He was right around the corner, came by an hour later, broke off the old glass, changed the halogen bulb with the dimmer one I had bought, and replaced the glass making sure it would come off this time. Now that is good service.

I recently had some ventilation fans installed, and they weren't done correctly, leading to all the electrical in my house going sort of hay wire. Power was out in multiple rooms on different circuits, and my garage doors wouldn't open. Rod came over on very short notice (I no longer trusted the original company to fix this accident, and they seemed to have no idea what they had done wrong after charging me for 2 hours to try to figure it out). He and his assistant arrived, right in the time window they had given. Rod was able to identify the problem in about 5 minutes, and he had it fixed in less than an hour. He even fixed my doorbell, which hasn't worked since we moved in here. I have a few other things that will need to be done around the house, and Rod will be the first person I call.
The price he charged was reasonable, and I haven't had any electrical problems since he was here.

Rod is awesome! Two weeks ago, he came out to replace LED lights in my garage that another electrician installed that were way too dim and burned out after only about 1 year (they were supposed to last a lot longer)!

Rod gave me another solution that met my main criteria: 1) energy efficient, 2) long-lasting, 3) easy to replace lamps, and 4) way better lighting for my garage! The fixtures he recommended were very inexpensive to purchase and install, having thin fluorescent rods that are extremely BRIGHT!

I called Rod out again just today to replace three outdoor light fixtures. Again, Rod and his helper did an outstanding job. Super quick, very knowledgeable and professional, and neat!

I appreciate Rod especially for his responsiveness (via phone or text) and for being cost-conscious for his customers. I always feel like I'm getting a great deal for a quality job well done.

Had a breaker blow and need service. Rod was the only one of all the 7 electricians I called who had the option to repair an older panel rather than replace it after a 2 week waiting period because he knew where he could get the parts. I knew going in that it would need replacement over time, I wanted to get back up so I could open my garage door and not have to run the fridge off an extension cord. After that I could prep for replacement. Ultimately the way the wiring was connected to the panel was unsafe and warranted replacing then and there. Price quoted for the replacement was 1400 less than the next best price found, the panel used is sturdy enough that if I wanted I could add a whole new wing and still be able to use this breaker without a risk of frying the panel, communication was awesome, helpful in coordinating with SoCal Edison/city and he's got the reviews to back up selecting him over anyone else.

While I hate sounding like a cliche, if I could give more than 5, I would, and I've shared his info with a contractor friend of mine who will hopefully be able to refer his customers to the same awesome service I had the luxury of experiencing.

I found Rod based on his positive yelp reviews and decided to give him a call. He was prompt in responding and diagnosed the issue over the phone. We scheduled an appointment and he followed up the morning of the appointment to confirm the time he would be coming. Already impressed by his follow through, he continued to amaze me with his efficiency and knowledge of what needed to be done. I had a prior electrician work on this particular outdoor outlet and he had to finagle the outlet to make it work. Rod was able to rewire it correctly and reset my outdoor timers for me. I don't write many reviews, but felt it was important because it is hard to find trustworthy electricians who don't over-charge. Rod was fair in his pricing, reliable and very knowledgeable. I was recently in the middle of having central air conditioning installed and my contractor found that there wasn't enough power outside for the compressor. The contractor wanted to run a conduit through my bedroom, so I called Rod's Electric for a second opinion...and I'm so glad I did! After reviewing Rod's Electric on this platform I contacted the Company and here's how things went: 1) Rod, himself answered the phone and we set up an appointment right then and there!!--Imagine-no voicemail, etc. 2) Rod confirmed the appointment prior to ARRIVING AT THE JOB SITE. 3) The morning of the appointment Rod called me on the phone and told me he was on the way! 4) When Rod arrived he immediately diagnosed the problem, then solved it within the hour. 5) He told me the rate per hour on our initial phone call, and the bill was exactly what he promised!!

Legit!! This business is very responsive, dependable, honest and did a GREAT job! We had a pretty minor repair that needed to be done on our freezer light fixtures and I knew exactly what the problem was, yet when I called other businesses for the repair, I was treated as if I knew nothing and two people totally tried to take me to the cleaners on the price. I called Rod's Electric & Handyman Service and not only did he answer right away, he asked me questions about the job, asked me to send him pictures, and then told me he would be here the next day before 2. He arrived at 12:30, had all the supplies he needed (from the pictures I sent) and completed the work in a very short time. He was polite, honest and the pricing was very fair. I called Rod a few weeks ago and got a recording saying they would be out until April 10th and to leave a message and that they would follow up. And he actually did!! So many people don't answer you these days! He was nice on the phone and was able to get a guy of his (Chad) to come to our house earlier than expected. My doorbell didn't work. Tried fixing it myself. Thought it was the transformer. No luck. I call Rod based on the Yelp reviews. He came out and check the transformer. Turned out I didn't fasten the wires tight enough. Doorbell still didn't work. He found that the chime was broken. The guys at Rod's Electric are the most knowledgeable, kind, and professional guys I have met! Not only is your customer care a priority, but they walk you through the process of what they are doing. This helped to keep us informed as to what was going on with our Church sign here at Faith Christian Assembly. It's important to us that our sign is lit when it's dark as many people who have visited us, let us know that the sign was one of the reasons they stopped in.

I also appreciated the fact that if they cannot do the work (we have another sign that is up higher on the building, heavy and awkward), they let you know immediately instead of just trying to wing it. Very reasonable prices too!

As I'm sitting here in this miserable heat I am comforted ever slightly by the gentle breeze of our ceiling fans. Rod and his assistant came by and installed all the wiring and mounts for the ceiling fans earlier this summer and we wouldn't have survived this heat without them. I used Rod's Electric to install recessed lighting in my home and to remove and re-install line voltage in my patio area - it was unsafe and badly installed by the previous owner of the home.

Rod (and his assistant Eddie) arrived on the day scheduled (several weeks in advance) and got straight to work. Because of a special paint finish that I had on my walls, I was insistant that he try and fish all wires through the ceiling before he had to damage any walls.

Rod took very great care and LISTENED to my needs. He and Eddie worked very hard to ensure that we had the job we wanted with the minimum of disruption.

I have no hesitation in recommending him and his crew, and would certainly use his firm for any other electrical work that arises in the future - both residentially and commercially.

Rid and his crew were great. He did some major electrical work due to a bad remodel. The scope of work quickly escalated and rod was knowledgeable enough to get it done. He also switched out 43 recessed lights that were a fire hazard and switched out multiple light switches too. All in all a great experience and a nice crew. Thanks rod. Rod is a stand-up guy. He was very attentive and showed up at the exact time and date as promised unlike other electrician's we have contacted. We are a non-profit organization and had a problem with our ceiling florescent light which would not turn on even when switching out the bulbs. When Rod arrived, he instantly knew exactly what it was and replaced the ballast in under thirty minutes. He was very informative and explained what had happened. The ballast was evidently leaking tar and was a HUGE fire hazard. He basically saved our lives. He also did not charge us for his service nor parts. I had an GFI outlet that wouldn't reset, therefor effecting the other outlets on the same wall. Those affected outlets provided power to the wifi, hot water heater, landscape lights & sprinklers. I called Rod on a Sunday at 530 pm when the electricity in my apartment went out. I was waiting to hear back from my management company and was looking into electrician just in case. I had a broken doorbell and two ceiling fans not working. Called Rod and each time had no problem reaching him..no phone tag! Rod semi-diagnosed my problems over the phone and asked me to get the potential replacement parts ahead of time and I appreciated that because it meant I wouldn't be charged for any return visits. We set a designated time for him to come and not only did he show up on time but called me ahead of time to give me an ETA. He was very honest and it turns out he was able to fix it without replacing the ceiling fans at all! Charged me a very reasonable $150 and spent almost 2 hours working on the fixes. Since he fixed the current fans without me having to replace it I am now able to return the two new fans which makes his work rate totally worth it! Would HIGHLY recommend Rod's services! Also, not to go unmentioned he and his stepson were very considerate as I had a newborn sleeping in the house and they worked very quietly which any parent of a newborn can appreciate.
