We were pleasantly surprised with the one capable Technician, Ally, that came, made a competitive estimate, and completed the replacements quickly and efficiently the SAME DAY.

They were supposed to give me an estimate for a new bathtub as well as fix a clogged drain. They told me they could fix the drain in an hour. They didn't fix it. They also never gave me an estimate despite me calling back 4 times. The only time they called me back was to charge my credit card.

I am not sure which office my call went through, as I don't have the number in front of me but am thinking this one is closest to me. I called after looking on the internet (they have an 800 number). I also had a mailer I had saved that came with a magnet. I have been using this company for about 15 years. It was Drain Patrol when i first used it. The staff have always been respectful and neat and if they are running late because the job before mine is running over a bit, they have called me. My latest service needed was for a leaking faucet and old lines under the sink. I called about 9:30am and spoke with Alison. She asked for all the needed information and said she would check the schedule and call back 10 minutes which she did. She let me know someone would arrive between 11am and noon. Brandon arrived at 11am. We discussed what needed attention and he took care of everything and answered all my questions and gave me the estimate. Once I okayed everything, he went out and chose a new faucet. He sent a picture of it to my cell so I could approve. He came back and installed it and the new lines. Anyone who has looked at my other reviews knows I rarely give 5 stars (I had a separate Yelp account for work which helps me keep track of the catering). The final cost was very reasonable for what was done (my friend wanted to know how it went and he said the price was good, too). I could not be more satisfied with the way things went with the repair. I never thought I'd ever want to put 5 stars for a contractor, but there you go! Note - there are coupons on the website and sometimes they run unposted specials as well.

I just moved to a new house and the outside faucet wouldn't fully turn off, the shower sprayed water from the top and the sink leaked. Tony (tech 74) quickly diagnosed the problems and fixed them. He was kind, knowledgeable and finished the job in a timely manner. Thank you Tony and preferred plumbing!

Highly unprofessional. They didn't show up to our schedule *twice* and the third time they were showing up late, without a notice. When I tried to reschedule / cancel, they started arguing with me and showed displeasure at the idea that I might not use their service if I am not satisfied with the *free* quote. False advertising? Probably. Unreliable, definitely.

We had a horrible experience and hiring them was a huge mistake. On 11/7/11, we had a water heater installed by Preferred Plumbing and Drain. As part of the service we paid for they were supposed to obtain certificates and permits for the water heater as required by the city of Elk Grove. Today is 4/13/12 and they still have not completed the task of obtaining the required permits. This company is very disorganized and they will give you the run-around.

My sink started dripping out of no where so I called and they were able to get someone out at a time that worked for me even with my busy schedule. Lane came out and was very polite and knowledgeable. He didn't even mind when my dog wanted to sit next to him the whole time he worked, he pet her and went about replacing the faucet. He explained why I was having the problem, replaced the faucet and cleaned up all in a super short amount of time. I will definitely be using them again!

If I could give a negative star review... it would probably still be too high. We had a leak under the sink so my wife called a guy out yesterday - pinhole leak in the garbage disposal. Garbage disposal worked and sounded fine when the switch was turned on... just a very slow drip. So, my wife decided to let them install a new garbage disposal that we were told will only take 45 minutes to 1 hour.

A few hours later, he finally got it attached under the sink and was packing up to leave. I asked him if he was going to run water and test the unit before he left... and when he did a big white flash (like a lightning bolt) shot out from under the sink! Holy Crap... what the heck! From that point, the garbage disposal would not turn off at the switch.... just kept running no matter what we did. So, we unplugged it! He took the unit off and tried to tell us some BS about how the outlet must be faulty (even though it worked fine before he had arrived). He arrived again today... to install another garbage disposal - even though I told him that from some simple trouble shooting, even I figured out that something was fried in the switch from either a terrible job installing the first unit or because he had installed a faulty unit. Hours later... he figured out that maybe it was an electrical problem. Hey Sherlock... no kidding!

So, he decided that he would get the company to call an electrician to come tomorrow (now a 3 day job) but told me that he was done and he was not going to work any more because it was his scheduled day off. (So why was he here on his day off? Why even a plumber?) Told me that Preferred Plumbing was done and that I could install my own disposal after the electrician was done. What the hell? I called Paul at Preferred Plumbing and complained for the terrible service and poor work that was done. He assured me that he could send the same technician out (not an option) and tells me somebody is going to call us to schedule an electrician appointment for tomorrow.... but the electrician never calls! Maybe they are related. I already have to be suspicious of this electrician because he does business with Preferred Plumbing.

This is the craziest plumber encounter I have ever heard of... but you know, after reading other reviews on this same company - I think this is how they operate.

My toilet was leaking from the bottom. I called Preferred Plumbing and Tony # 74 came to my house promptly. Tony was very polite and courteous from the minute I opened the door. He was very knowledgeable and explained what the issue was and what needed to be fixed and replaced. Tony # 74 gave me an accurate estimate which I agreed to. He quickly fixed the problem and my toilet was in good working condition again. Tony had great customer service skills and I would definetely recommend Tony # 74 if you are in need of a plumber. He is both extremely knowledgeable and courteous.

My regular plumber was out of town, so I called Preferred Plumbing and Drain out on Saturday night, around 5:30 for a clogged sewer cleanout. The operator said she would get back to me within the next 15 minutes. 5 minutes later she called back with our tech LUKE, ready to come out in about 30 minutes. Luke was right on time

He quickly checked out the situation (no travel charge, no fee for estimates). He told me exactly what it would cost, assuming no major hidden problems were found. I also used a $20 off coupon I found online.

Luke snaked out the line...but it kept backing up. He kept at it, and on the 4th try, he pulled out a unique blockage. He tested all of the drains to make sure that they all drained correctly, and tried to flood the cleanout, just to be sure his work was complete and I was happy.

Luke was an absolute pro, did a fantastic job, for the price he quoted.

I think this is there first YELP review, and I'm happy to recommend their services.

Had a drain problem at my business on a Saturday afternoon with water coming out of the drain and wasn't stopping. Called many places but no one was able to come out and fix it that same day but these guys really came through. They arrived at 10:00 on a Saturday night and saved the day for me. Service took a while but I'm just happy they were able to come at such late time.

Our main water line sprung a leak and they sent someone out the same day. Jorge fixed the leak the same day. He was diligent, professional and cleaned up after himself. We just moved to Sac from SD and found out the house that we recently purchased had some plumbing issues in both bathrooms. Michael (#23) came in to inspect them and gave us different options to resolve them without being pushy. He was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He completed a follow-up appointment to fix/ correct the shower head in our guest bathroom and did an excellent job. We are very pleased with result. $255 for 10 minutes to replace a valve stem in the hall bath shower. I had it taken apart down to a stubborn galvanized fitting that I couldn't remove when the tech arrived so all he had to do was remove it. Being that I'm a woman, I then got the cash register song and dance of how it was going to be difficult to remove (it literally took him under 2 minutes), then I was told it would be difficult to find a replacement valve and he may have to drive all over Sacramento to get one. (it was a Price Pfister, not difficult to locate) I knew this was total B.S. and he was stacking billable hours, but what I didn't understand is why he didn't have a van with parts. He came in a pickup truck. The customer shouldn't be charged for the contractor not having the tools or parts for the job. Whatever. I was very busy with work and didn't feel like dealing with it. He showed up on time and the tech was very nice so the 2 star rating is nothing against him. The company pricing however, is absolutely criminal. It took him 5 minutes tops to install a new valve and test the water. I am looking to upgrade and install a new kitchen sink, faucet and disposal next month and I won't be using this company. If their pricing was fair, I would have given them 5 stars and had them bid the plumbing for my kitchen project.

Gerry really knows his stuff. He came out for what we though was a slab leak. Turned out it was in the joint where the wall and slab meet. He ended up doing the repair for less than half the cost he quoted. The repair in the wall was done right the first time. Thanks Preferred!

Experienced a serious and wholly unanticipated loss of hot water at a rented residence. Preferred technician was on site within just a few hours of learning of the problem. Moreover, he promptly identified the issue, resolved it and finished the hot water heater repair in a little over an hour's time. This all for a reasonable amount and by an obviously capable employee. Shout out to Preferred for a job well done!

Great response, repair, and rate!! Had break at the main line from our well to the house and had to shut down water at well and shut down pump. Called at 5 pm on Sunday evening. Had a return call in less the 15 minutes and a very professional serviceman here within the hour. Do to our pipes being an older style and size the parts needed were not stocked on his truck or anyone else's truck as he call all the other tech's to check. He told me what I could do temporarily myself to give emergency water and said he could get everything needed and be back first thing in the morning. I have heard that first thing in the morning story before but this man actually did come first thing this morning and had repair completed in about 30 minutes!!! He was extremely professional, honest, and knowledgeable. Costs was also very reasonable and did receive an estimate first. He showed me the problems and explained how he would fix it. Highly recommend this company!!!

Spoke with someone on a Friday about a sewer smell issue we were having. Made an appointment for Sunday, no extra charge. Was assured they would send someone who has dealt with this before. Before the technician even came he called and made it sound like he couldn't do anything and didn't want to come out but had to check with office. Called me back and told me he was told to come check it out. He arrived, very hard to understand when speaking, cleaned shower drain, snaked a little bit down the drain and poured some clog remover in the drain. Said maybe that would help but did not sound sure. Never did a thorough inspection. Glanced under the house at the pipes, opened clean out, said it smelled, charged over $400 and left telling us if it was still there to call again. Way over priced for the work that was done and didn't seem to know what he was doing. Would never call again.

A toilet angle stop valve started leaking on Sunday at mid day. After calling the office, a technician came out earlier than originally estimated.

The cost was confirmed before work was started. Matt was very thorough to check his work before he left. He is conscientious to complete the job to the customer's satisfaction.

He fixed the pipe in a very timely manner, and gave me a price below what I thought it would cost, which was so nice. Zack had Conner come out within an hour who assessed the situation and the next morning Zack came out, found the leak, suggested a couple a solutions and job done! I do not recommend Preferred Plumbing at all. I'm not giving any stars. The computer is forcing me to give them at least one star.

My first experience with them: A guy came out, looked at something that was broken, talked with me about the problem, didn't actually work on anything, and I paid $109 for that consult.

My extremely unfortunate second experience with them: The leach lines on our septic tank recently failed. I looked up the history on those lines - in 2009 Preferred Plumbing installed new leach lines (around $3000). How could the lines not be working? Why was all this water not draining out? I had a different guy come out to snake the leach line, maybe something was clogging the leach line. He snaked, said it was just dirt he was drilling into. I called Preferred Plumbing & explained the situation. They said there was a one-year warranty on those leach lines, would I like them to send out a technician? No, thank you! This other plumber guy dug up these leach lines, and what did he find? Preferred Plumbing did not put a sleeve over the leach line, so dirt poured into the holes. Also, they did not put rock down under the lines, they laid the lines in the trench of dirt. No wonder the leach line filed with dirt & became clogged a mere 4 years after installation. (It should last at least 10 years or longer.) Dirt pouring into the holes + liquid from the septic tank = mud.

I think Preferred Plumbing is a scam company. Not really sure what their deal is with their employees (these so-called plumbers), but they seem to have a system where the plumbers/technicians get a percentage of what they sell, so there is motivation to recommend more and/or raise the price (get the most $ out if the customer). Something the $109-guy said to his supervisor when he called him stuck in my head as weird business practice, and this commission-based service was the conclusion I came to. Their plumbers or technicians are probably very nice, but lack experience and possibly lack certificates or education (whatever one needs to be a qualified plumber). Maybe they are apprentices, or plumbers-in-training, so are paid a low salary or paid on commission. I don't know, but that leach line job they did in 2009 was definitely substandard.

I will never use Preferred Plumbing again, and I do not recommend them.

I called Preferred Plumbing to see if they could retrieve my elderly mom's lower dentures from the toilet. They had to break the toilet to check if they were stuck up in there so I had to have them install a new toilet. (Well worth it, considering new denture would close approx. $2,500.00) I asked them to install an Eljer like the one she but they were not able to locate one locally so I asked them to install a name brand, good quality toilet similar to the one she had. They installed a Kohler, however it was much lower than the one she had and it did not have a self-closing toilet seat like to the she had. I spoke to a supervisor and he said they wanted us to be happy with it. They installed another toilet (Kohler also, but comfort height like she had) and a self closing toilet seat. I was very impressed with their quick and professional services and would highly recommend them. There aren't many businesses around anymore that aim to please like they do!

A wonderful business!
The front office answered after 2 rings and then transferred the call to the Manager. I outlined the work needed and they responded with technician within 1/2 hour. Dave showed up on time and provided me with a reasonable quote. I asked when he could start and now was the answer.
Dave was meticulous and very experienced. He completed the work as promised and even cleaned the stains within the cabinet. His work was neat very professional and perfect.
Exceptional and beyond expectations. Thank you team.
I will be using Preferred Plumbing for any plumbing and drain needs in the future.

I am very unhappy with this company. I needed a new wax in my toilet. Me knowing nothing about plumbing I called these guys. They did answer and respond in about 1 hour. We were very happy to see them. They stole my flanch and told me I didn't have one. They charged me $700.00 to fix my toilet. How do I know they stole my flanch? A plumber told my they don't disappear. My toilet worked fine for 7 years. I had a new bathroom put in in 2012. It's 2019 and I only needed a wax replacement. They also cracked and scratched my tile floor. They also charged me extra to install my new toilet seat bought at Home Depot because I didn't want the old one. To top it off the seat was not installed properly. I don't want them back in my house. I'm so unhappy with them.

If i could give 0 stars, i would. this company is AWFUL!!! i had a clogged drain and he INSISTED it was due to the age of my garbage disposal. once he (overcharged me) and changed it - the drain was still clogged!!!! he then remove a U-shaped pipe, which was clogged with food and the problem was solved! he should have checked that first! not only that, he left an AWFUL mess behind that i had to clean up. ON TOP OF ALL THIS, i called to make a complaint, and was offered 10% off my NEXT service! there will NEVER be a next time with these guys, STEER CLEER of them!!! i wish i did!!!! Consider yourself WARNED!!!!!!

I started a home project and got in over my head with an water leak that I couldn't isolate (snapped water supply valve). Preferred Plumbing was at my house within an hour and worked past dark, outside to stop the leak.

I told her what I needed and she was sending a guy today. I told her what I needed and made an appointment for Saturday. Josh arrived and listened to my needs and went about taking care of the plumbing inspection.He was intelligent, pleasant, helpful and went over and beyond. I am glad to find a wonderful plumbing company that is honest, kind, capable and the extra mile to help is rare to find. I have used Preferred Plumbing on different occasions over the years for our and our kids needs and will continue to use them and refer them to my friends. They come out in a short period of time once my need was requested. They have even done work for me late up till 11:00 at night for we had no working toilets and other plumbers put me off. Their plumbers are courteous, respectful and go above and beyond my initial need to satisfy the customer. I have referred their company to my family located outside Sacramento county. I can depend on them to do it right the first time and it stays fixed, no repeat calls. I have other things for them to do. I have used them for garbage disposal replacement, toilets replaced, fixing toilets despite their age to last longer, checking my washer connection that was leaking into wall from prior owner and fixing it, Jacuzzi fix when water would only come out a few spouts and how to clean it, straighten my faucets and changing them in bathroom and shower, isolating a leak upstairs to be from older toilet not shower that other contractor thought was the problem , will use him again next week to change my kitchen faucet and reroute underneath house water main so it is easier to reach if water needs to be shut off immediately. Builder did a poor job. Too bad they don't do roofs, painting, remove wall paper, and other items on my honey do list for I would definitely use them in an instant without hesitation. I have their magnet on my refrig to call when ever I need a plumbing situation resolved. Thank you, Jason for all your help and expertise and experience. I will remember you.

Our tub drain got clogged a couple days ago and stopped draining completely. It left pool of water for hours at a time before it went down. Brad stopped by in less than an hour after we called which was also 7:30 at night!He was able to clear the drain in 10 minutes. The whole thing was quick and painless and less than an hour! Responsive and reliable and we got a discount! Can't say enough good things! Very professional and friendly, well rounded in experience! Highly recommend! Saved the day !

Be aware of this plumbers. This guys are scammers. Changed me 300$ to open a wall and tell me I have a little hole they cannot fix. But instead they want to replace all pipes in the house.

I'm surprised I didn't leave a review sooner.

When I was living at my previous residence, I had a slow draining issue with my shower that my lazy landlord didn't care to fix, so I needed to pay for this out of my own pocket. Thankfully I found this company. They were fast, used a HUGE snake to unclog the pipes, and he did not leave until my shower was flowing like normal. I was charged a very affordable rate, and I was more than satisfied. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name who helped me, because he was fantastic.

Made an appointment for 12 noon. No one showed up. I called and they said they had called me at 8am and didn't hear back. The phone did ring 3 times at 7:58am but no message was left. I had no idea who had called. They said they had a technician that could come out this evening. (To work on outside drains??) They had no explanation as to why they were not able to keep the appointment at noon other than they had a technician available at 8 am. Guess I should have read the reviews before I made an appointment with them.

Had a shower issue where the water would not turn off so had to shut the water to the house off. Called them at 10am and they were out to the house by 1:30pm and fixed the issue which was a faulty cartridge. Total work time was about an hour and the charge for the work and the part was $265. Possibly a bit high since the labor charge normally runs about $145 per hour but I now have the water turned back on and can run my dishwasher and a load of laundry and the family can take a shower tonight without having to turn off and on the main water line.
Debated whether to drop them to 3.5 stars since initially, the company said it would call me in 30 minutes but I had to call back at 11:00 to find out if they could come out today. Also, no mention about a warranty although I've used them in the past and had not had to call them back out.

The team did a great job from the person answering the phones, to scheduler, and the tech onsite. Mike told me the work he was going to do and was able to complete in about an hour. Tony #74 to the rescue!! Leaking toilet tank, appointment kept getting pushed out and Weds night before Thanksgiving I finally got someone out after three days. Tony arrived after 6pm after a drive from Yuba City, had to make a Home Depot run to get custom parts and got the toilet tank rebuilt in the guest bath...Tony saved Thanksgiving!! So my fiancée and I needed a plumber - badly. The main drain is clogged, causing 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and a bathtub to cough up awful stuff all at once. Since Preferred said they had the right equipment and would come out right away, we said, Yes, please! Also, once Paige arrived, I could tell my fiancé liked him because he was also a Marine.

HOWEVER, they wanted to charge $645 just to start to try to make a diagnosis...then, after Paige tried looking down the pipes with a camera, he stopped after a couple feet and said he couldn't go any further - one of his colleagues would have to come out and cut the tree roots blocking the pipe. Now the total was almost $1200! In dismay I said I'd have to contact our home warranty company. The cost was adding up quickly and we needed time to make a decision.

Long story short: I work for the prison system. I deal with criminals all the time. And, the only type of criminal I truly have issues with are those who LIE. Dishonesty does nothing but waste my time and yours. It also shows a fundamental disrespect for the person you're speaking to. You're assuming that they're too stupid to pick up on it. And you're assuming that they won't see you for what you are.

Well, Paige (and company), I see you.

I had my suspicions when you were standing in my kitchen, and now I know for sure.

I hope you hear me loud and clear: I don't like liars.

The next plumber didn't run into any trouble with his camera (notably the exact same type & size you brought out), and there were ZERO tree roots blocking the line anywhere.

But the thing that bothers me most of all - more than anything, in fact - is that you used your Marine Corps background to buddy up to my fiancée. For that, I am seething.

UPDATE: I just spoke to Mike Marcas - the boss. And, as much as I hate how the last interaction went with Paige, I have a feeling that Mr. Marcas is on the up and up. In fact, he spent a good deal of time with me on the phone, even though I started out pretty mad (not a fun task, I assure you). He promised me he'd look into it, and - for what it's worth - I believe him. If he's as good a guy as he seems, this *could* end up being a 5-star review after all... Thanks again, Mr. Marcas.

Preferred Plumbing was responsive to my request and came to the appointment on time. Technician was friendly, and did a good job. I saw other reviews about this company giving a quote and at the end charged more as they discovered more to do. I think Preferred Plumbing should do a better job estimating, or providing up front a more realistic estimate for customer to make decision, and avoid those at-the-site changes.

Completely unprofessional.
I emailed and called to confirm worker would be wearing a mask. After being left on hold for a long time, it was confirmed, but he showed up with a bandana loosely tied around his face AND another guy with him, so I had two people in my house.
He looked under my sink and without running the water or turning on the garbage disposal, he said I should replace it and that he doesn't do repairs. And then after some slow math, said it'd be $480. Very strange since I hadn't even selected a part - should have been a range depending on the part. Said it'd take about 2 hours labor.
I'm very confused about the claim of beat or match best price, because while he was here I texted another plumber would said it'd take him 1 hour and I could supply the part, which is $100- 150.
Free quote was the only positive thing about this experience.

We had them come out to clear our line and it lasted 3 days. They came back out under the warranty and for some reason couldn't run their snake because we have a possible broken pipe! That's strange it was fine just a few days prior. They tell us we will need to have a camera ran to see and that would be an additional charge and nobody could do that until the next day. We have one bathroom, having no toilet for 2 days is not livable. We end up being left with no bathroom again. We decided to call another company the next day they come out and clear our line no issue. They also ran a camera at no charge! I just find it very odd these guys couldn't run their snake but 2 feet but the new company comes in has no issue!!! We called and requested a refund being they were unable to provide the service we paid them for and the gal at the office said she would look into it and call me back within 30 minutes. Yeah it's been 2 days and still no call back and no refund. TERRIBLE WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS!

We were booked for consult and they called last minute to reschedule, then the person that was to come had to call as see what the dimensions of our crawl space were because he was a big guy and then ultimately didn't show. We get a call that night rescheduling a 3rd time for 2pm today- no one shows, we call at 5:30 asking what's happening and after repeating the situation at least 3 times are told they had another guy that was going to come but he wouldn't fit in the crawl space...needless to say we cancelled to project. Our crawl space is a standard house crawl space...apparently the guys that work here are large. Horrible, horrible experience- would not recommend.

So far, this has been my experience:

For the past week I have had issues with my water heater. I contacted my home warranty company (Secure Home Warranty, won't renew) and filed a claim on Wednesday morning. Someone at Preferred called my home phone, not my work or cell, but I was able to talk to a scheduler Wednesday around 4:45. The woman was very curt with me (like I was bothering her) and said someone would be out at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. My son hadn't slept all night, but stayed up since I couldn't take time off from work. At 1:00 p.m., Preferred called the house and said someone will come out between 2-3 p.m. I called them and rescheduled to today (Friday) between 9-10 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., they called the house and said someone will be there between 3-5. IF they happen to show up and fix the problem, I will change my review. Otherwise, I would heed all the negative reviews on here and choose another company.

They responded to my request do to a backed up main line. Their tech removed the toilet down stairs and snaked out the main drain pipe. I asked him to put a double wax ring on the toilet since the flange was below the floor level. He reset the toilet cleaned up and left.
Now here we are in August and we noticed dark spots on the floor. I called another plumbing service, they pulled the toilet and found the Preferred Plumbing Tech installed one wax ring, and it slowly leaked, staining the wood floor. So beware of using this company. ( a wax ring cost $1.00 at Home Deport they charged me $30.00 for one.)

UPDATE: My fiancée spoke with the founder/owner of the company, Mike, this afternoon; she was impressed. Now, after having heard his own concerns about Paige's handling of the situation, and his offer, I'm willing to be impressed. We shall see. Due to that phone call, my review has gone from a 0 to 3/5 stars--and, may go to five.

ORIGINAL: Yelp needs a 0 rating, truly. This plumbing company is poison.

Our sewer backed up into two sinks, two toilets and a bathtub. Paige, a (seemingly) straight-talking, (seemingly) professional U.S. Marine, arrived 45 minutes late. He opened two access caps, in the front yard. One didn't pose a problem--no more discussion about it. Into the other he ran a snake.

Paige's diagnosis was that he'd have to run his camera, and call another tech, with a Junior Jet and a root-cutting cable. He stated that he couldn't get his camera to work in our house's outlets; instead, he said that he would rent a generator, at our expense. The jet-and-cut guy was called off, by us, for another day. The proposed bill: $155.00/hr. for two hours(I'll SEE if, maybe, I can just charge you the commercial rate: $125.00 per hour.), to run the root-cutting cable; $100.00, for the generator rental; $250.00, for 2 hr. camera + locate; $370.00, for 2 hr. Jetting, to clear sludge; $25.00, for a couple of Dye tablets; and, a $10.00 Admin fee; 2 wax rings, at $12.00 each(for having removed one toilet); [that thing], [this thing], toilet bolts, and, [some other thing]. TOTAL: Pushing $1,200.00--BEFORE A DIAGNOSIS.

We called another company, Earl's. Devin(nice, honest guy) mapped the lines for the entire yard and problem. When he ran his camera(which worked just fine on our outlets), HE HAD ME WATCH WITH HIM. The pipe that Paige said was completely clogged with roots...maybe collapsed...could barely get the snake in there, had a little standing water(negative grade, part of the problem), NO SLUDGE, and NOT A SINGLE ROOT--clean as a whistle, almost pristine. Devin identified the type of pipe as Orangeburg(bitumenized wood pulp and pitch), and got his camera all the way across the yard with no problem. Had Paige's coworker run a root-cutting blade, THE PIPE WOULD HAVE SHREDDED AND COLLAPSED--requiring a replacement pipe($$$$$).

To actually diagnose, and map, and explain, Devin charged us $265.00. And, while he was performing honest work, Paige left a voicemail, doubling down on the need for cabling the roots; I'm keeping that one.

Synopsis: I served in the U.S.M.C., as well. Paige shook my hand, looked me in the eye, and LIED to me. (There's a very bad word for Marines who screw over other Marines. When I think of Paige, I'll use it, because, certainly, this crook has earned it.)

Call another company! Seriously. Don't risk it.
The plumber that arrived was rude and made inappropriate comments about the business that we operate. He billed for a toilet snake, but as it turns out he actually never brought a single tool into our facility. Of course, the very next day the problem reoccurred. It was extremely difficult to get Preferred Plumbing to correcting their shoddy work the next day. Finally, after endless back and forth, we got somebody out to clear the toilet clog at no additional charge.

No apology for the behavior of the first plumber and no response to being billed for a service that was not received. Oh, to top it off...the toilet is plugged again. Three days is a row. Something is amiss and Preferred has yet to fix the issue.

This company is NOT Preferred. Do not use them!

This company will be our go to for our plumbing needs. Tony #74 was awesome! He came out and gave us a free estimate, which we felt was reasonable for his time. He was able to install two faucets for our master bathroom sinks in just under two hours. He was thorough and tidy. When he came out and did the estimate, he was knowledgeable about the issue and recommended that we replace the two faucets. We highly recommend this company for your plumbing needs. I'm sure all the employees are great, but Tony #74 is our guy.

Tony #74 was really great. So was George too who did the original evaluation. We had a galvanized pipe 200ft in length, from the 1960's, that feeds our home with fresh water from the water main, at the back of our property, spring a leak deep underground. Tony found the leak and replaced the bad pipe. The job was completed in 2 days and he did the entire job on his own. Very good communicator, hard working, and trustworthy. He spoke to my wife, who has no clue about the irrigation vs water system (intake/sewer) in our back yard and helped her understand what was going on and explained the process completely. We had a realistic estimate upfront and didn't pay more for the job. We had an update every few hours on progress and learned so much about our yard pipes. The reason I'm writing this review is because I feel that this is a good company. They aren't trying to elevate the cost of the job by making it larger than it is. This is the second great experience I've had with different servicemen. Thank you Preferred Plumbing & Drain! Our yard is no longer flooded and we have fresh water.

My fault for not being more scrupulous.
Carmichael: My 92yo father had a new injury to his hip that was being evaluated for a fracture. That said I was in need of an ADA height toilet to replace his as promptly as possible. I live out of the area, so had to locate someone to get the job done as quickly as possible. I placed a call 24 hours in advance of the appointment that was established, with a very specific order request of a toilet height of 18 inches (ADA), low flush, to be installed with old toilet removed. The technician arrived only slightly after our arranged time (by 30 min), which I consider acceptable by plumbers standards. What I found odd was that he did not have a toilet or equipment with him, and stated he needed to review the job order and do an estimate first. So he looked at the existing toilet, (aprox 20 min) and put together a very high estimate of $800! I thought it steep, but figured it was just an estimate so signed off. He then left and came back over an hour later with the toilet and began the install which took exactly an hour ( I knew this as I was watching the clock in order to get my father his dinner once the technician was done). The tech was very nice, professional, and completed the job without any undue complications. He then presented me with a bill of $820 which shocked me but I was too wrapped up in dealing with my father to contest. Later I requested an itemized bill from the office and found that I had paid $99 for 4.5 hours of labor - so I guess I had paid for the time the plumber was driving around to find a toilet ( which turned out to be 17 inches, not 18 but..) In hindsight I would have gone to Home Depot or Lowes or something to get a toilet, and hire a handy man to put it in and could have saved a bundle.
My fault for not having questioned these prices, and not having called around more. But certainly won't do this again!

Our sink backed up, called first thing in the morning and by noon Rayner was here. Rayner was AWESOME, quickly assessed the issue and resolved the problem. It took them 3 days to show up after promising they would show on-time. For this, they gave me a 10% discount. I was quoted for an approximate time of work by dispatch, which is what I expected. This is not what the end result was. They tried to charge me by the job, not by the hour. After haggling with the tech and dispatch, they brought the total bill down to 3 hours, 30 minutes more than time spent. If from the beginning, they were honest and told me it was billed by the work being performed, I would have chosen someone else. $450 is a lot to spent to replace a sink. In addition, their office is very disorganized. I never received an emailed receipt and the dispatch team asked for my credit card 4 times prior to having the tech write it down. Apparently, they have very old systems and the dispatch team is not computer savvy. How do you do business in the bay area and not computer savvy. Even though the tech was awesome and did a really good job, I didn't like the inconsistency with their office, thus I will not use them again.

We called Preferred and Plumbing in Modesto area for an estimate. Our water heater was leaking and Cody was able to get a technician to come out within an hour. Drew arrived and diagnosed the leak, and resulted of us needing a new water heater. I was hoping it was minor, but we knew that our unit was old. Drew explained what needed to be fixed, installed, and quoted us for the work needed. Pricing was very reasonable and gave us a better quote than another company. Drew was very kind, patient, and knowledgable. He removed and installed the new heater on the same day. He worked hard and made sure all was working fine and up to code guidelines. We just moved in & all of a sudden our toilets weren't working. After troubleshooting with our family members, we noticed that sewage was starting to back up into our showers. So we called Preferred Plumbing & Drain and they were here within an hour! Tony #74 was so personable and friendly and even showed us what he hacked out of the main line under our house (a big ball of roots!). Needed pipes replaced. Old Cast Iron. Eric Adams from Preferred came out. Did a through inspection. Quoted me an excellent price to replace the pipes after running a camera through the lines showing me the tree roots and the pipe decomposing internally. He worked mostly by himself on the job. Took him two days and a lot of hours. Eric did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. I told him that he was my GO TO GUY from now on. I'm so pleased with the service I got from this company. I'm not sure why the other reviews weren't so good. The tech that came worked so hard to fix our issue. He was polite, efficient, & made sure the job was done right. Not only that but he was quick to try & clean up after himself which I greatly appreciate. They also gave us some helpful tips on things to avoid the issue we had. I've had 2 other companies come out in the past 3 days (2 of them were from my useless home warranty) & these guys were the only ones who fixed the problem. I'm very happy. I just wish they would have worn booties while working.
Update 3/25/16- I had to call them back because I'm still having issues in my kitchen. It's supposed to have a 30 day warranty on work. The lady over the phone when I called back in played dumb about that. Well the tech they sent out wasn't the original one that did the work. They sent a plumber over to do an assessment and said only one of the pipes needs to be replaced. He didn't have the part but did go to a hardware store to get it. He replaced the old pipe and, since then, it's been working perfectly fine. The cost of labor and the replacement part amounted to $200.00. The plumber did a good job fixing a simple problem in a short amount of time at a reasonable price.

My DIY shower/tub selector valve repair gone awry was quickly resolved. Although the resolution required a trip to a local plumbing supply store, the time from hello to goodbye was quite reasonable.
Although my problem was not drain related, Yelp reviews were quite convincing. I found an impressive preponderance of favorable reviews. As to negatives, I am compelled to comment. One review suggesting that one should consult with public drain service first should have taken his own advice before calling Preferred Plumbing. Another doesn't specify the reason for her complaint (?).

RUN RUN RUN!!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY RUN!

TLDR version:
Water heater replacement went terribly wrong! Damaged yard, Damaged house, Drilled 5 unused holes from outside to inside, disconnected fridge line and refused to reconnect, added water heater stand and comically oversized expansion tank (I assume for the up charges), installed EPA illegal water hear in Sacramento county, black pipe (not meant for water), cut b exhaust vent (illegal), the exhaust vent likely caused the unit to fail as it could not vent properly and others I am sure I have forgot about. Some of the damage was repaired by a senior tech but the senior tech missed a bunch or ignored of the shotty and illegal work that was done. Passed inspection after 3 attempts but many things the inspector could not see because it was on the back side of the water heater or in the roof. Black pipe exhaust vent etc...

Longer more detailed version:
I called Preferred Plumbing and drain in June of 2020 for a simple water heater replacement. My old one (20+ years old) was working fine but I noticed a small leak on the top. So I thought its 20 years old I should try to just replace it. Now I should add that I have replaced 3 myself and as far as plumbing goes they are pretty straight forward. The last one I installed was about 15 years ago, so I thought some of the laws have changed and that it would be good to have it done by a professional......

Oh boy was I wrong!

When I called they were able t get someone out same day to get me a quote which was great. When he showed up he was not wearing a mask which to be fair Covid was still new at this time but most places required the techs to wear a mask. They quoted me 1900 to remove and install a new one which I thought was a bit on the steep side but after looking at a few online quotes they all ranged from 1500-2500 so 1900 seemed acceptable. I agreed to the install and he said he would be out the next day at 9am.

The next morning Lane arrived and started to work. It took almost no time at all to realize he did not know what he was doing. He asked ME where he should start... Me.... I asked if he had installed a water heater before and he said yeah tons of them. I said from my experience you need to drain the old unit first.. he said ok and then attempted to start the drain. I went back inside cause I was working and could not supervise hime all day long. After about 2 hours I had not seen hime or heard from him at all. I went to check to make sure he was ok. When I got there he was playing a game on his phone and said that the drain was taking a really long time... I asked is it vented anywhere to help it drain he said yeah he connected the hose on the front. I then asked if he shut off the main and he said yes. I then asked so all you did was turn off the water and connect a hose? to which he said yes I then told him you need to open or disconnect a top hose to help the water flow out... He laughed and said oh yeah... I then asked again if he had done a water heater install before and he said yes a ton it had just been a few. months. I. thought ok honest mistake I will let him get back to it.

I then see him dragging the old unit across my lawn killing my grass in the progress. I ran out gave him a dolly I had and told him to call me if he needed help. He then pulled the new unit around back with my dolly and proceeded to get back to work as did I.

So a few hours later I hear a loud banging coming from my laundry room where the water heater is on a slab (this is important because a water heater stand is not needed). I asked if everything was ok he said yes its just an old pipe and he needed to get if off. I then saw there were pipes all over the place and I noticed a huge stand where my water heater should be. I also noticed he had drilled several holes from the outside of the house to the inside. I ask why he drilled so many holes (5 in all) he said he needed to align the new overflow holes I asked who so many to which he replied well I measured them out but the pipe I bought was not long enough so I had to drill a couple more to get it right.... I then noticed in one location he drilled outside in and pushed the copper pipe from the outside in which took off a huge chunk of drywall. I asked who was going to fix this damage to which he said Not Me... This is when I started to get really angry! I said no that he better call the company to get this figured out cause if I do it will not end well for him. He said he would call and let me know what they say when he finished getting everything connected. I said that is fine and went back inside to finish my work.

So not enough space for full review but 3 days of down time. Bad work caused water heater to fail after 6 months. Added Stand and huge expansion tank for up charges. Company refused to pay for damages sent tech to fix who left all the illegal things in place.

Had a great experience with Matt, #32. Came home from a weekend out of town and had a backed up guest bathroom (toilet and bath) with about 1-2 of water on the floor. Same for the MBR. Matt came out and accessed the drain cleanout and put a snake down the pipe. He discovered a large root blocking the flow. He put another snake with a saw on it and cut out the root. It completely drained immediately. He told me to prevent future problems, go online and buy a $20 item that prevents roots from re-growing. I did that, which I just had to flush down the toilet. Easy as pie. He charged me $121. He was in and out in 30 minutes and was very personable. I was expecting to have to dig out the pipes and replace them to the tune of $5,000 - $8,000. I immediately recommended him to my wife for her business. She called him the next day and was equally pleased. What a great surprise!

Had an old Mansfield toilet that kept running and a garbage disposal all go out in the same week. Having a bathroom go out with full house with kids and a pregnant sister was stressful at first but these guys came through. I called/requested a quote on Yelp from half a dozen places and a few more that were listed in Napa but didn't travel to Vacaville. After juggling the responses I had a few people come by. Not one of them actually touched what was broken. All they said was it was an older model and it's cheaper to replace it. I mean sure they could've been right but at least go through the motion and see if it can be repaired. Honestly, I didn't get back to these guys ASAP but after the third guy tried to tell my sister that the landlord okayed a full repair and estimated a ridiculous amount, I called Preferred Plumbing right away.

They're answering system was easy and friendly. They dispatched me to someone who sent someone over within 2hrs. I guess it was meant to be. Herman came on time, wore a mask, was professional, and thoroughly looked at both the toilet and the g/d. He was the only one that gave both an estimate of the rebuild and replacement. He also didn't press for unnecessary replacements like the cut off valve, which was still the old turn style knob.

I broke down the estimates to my landlord and got the okay. Herman was back after a job he already had in the same day. Even after the quoted prices for parts agreed on, he still found a better option that happen to be on sale.

The installation went accordingly and it feels like we didn't have a problem to begin with. I'm definitely keeping his contact info because it's difficult to find trusted contractors.

I called in the morning to make an appointment, asking if they could service 'same day'. They acknowledged that they could, their techs work 24/7. I checked throughout the day and never rec'd a service window as to when to expect arrival. At 8 pm, I rec'd a call stating they weren't able to service, but could the following day between 10 am and 11 am. The following day at noon, I rec'd a call indicating they were busy and didn't know when they tech could make it, if at all that day! C'mon. The person who called stated the owner recommended not providing any reason at all. Don't trust that they'll respect your time. Move on, find another plumber.

Old pipes, corrosion and a Saturday evening was a perfect mix for a disaster. Preferred Plumbing sent Michael (Tech 34) over immediately and Michael did a great job fixing the issue. The leak was behind a dry wall in a cramped dark corner behind the water heater. But for some reason Michael knew exactly what needed to be done. After removing the leaking and corroded joint, he fabricated an 'L' on the spot in my garage and then proceeded to fix it properly and at the end I had running water again. This was done very quickly too. Michael, thanks for saving my weekend and for the great service.

Ill keep this short. There is a landlord involved, but it really doesn't change the story. Our water heater went out the weekend before the 4th of July. I called a plumber Monday that 3rd that was recommended, but they couldn't come out. So, I looked on Yelp and found Preferred Plumbing, good ratings, available, let's go.

The Tech showed up reasonably on time and worked the issue (prob with pilot thermopile). PP's tech worked for a couple hours, but finally threw in the towel, saying the WH wasn't safely repairable, the WH should be replaced. Estimate $1800-2200. Then handed me a bill for ~$350, which I paid. Then I figured okay replacement time and told the landlord. He grudgingly approved, but in the meantime said lets get the other guys to check.

They check, find thermopile issue, BUT notice the WH is under warranty. He placed a call to the company, who knew of the issue and immediately drop shipped replacement parts to my home. Next day, Plumber returns, fixes the WH in an hour, no lie. AND the charge is ~$530 .. NOT $1800!!. BTW Preferred had a 2nd guy come out to make a detailed estimate for my landlord before the other guys, and he missed it too, handed me an $1800+ estimate. That's the story .. you guys missed badly on this job .. and i'm out $350, that simply stinks.

I'm between 1 and 2 stars. My main problem is they go full out with a FREE ESTIMATE. Yes I know by this time in my life I should know there is nothing FREE.

Here's the story. I live in SF CA, My mother lives in Camino, CA. She tells me her water heater is broken, does not work, she has no hot water. So, I get on the net and search for Water Heater repairs. I keep getting forwarded to some site that says let us find on for you. Fill out this form. I fill out the form and Preferred Plumbing and Drain comes up. I get an e-mail with there phone number. Then at around 7:30 am the phone rings, I'm not in the mood to answer the phone I let the machine pick it up. I'm still asleep in bed anyway it was my day off. Then 10 mins the phone rings again. goes to machine it's them again. They call back at least 5 times in less then 2 hrs. Then again at around 11:30 they call again. I return their phone call to ask them to stop calling me. Once was enough. That I would forward there number to my mother so she could set up an appointment for the FREE ESTIMATE on the repairs.

Before I did I asked Carl just how much might I be looking at. He said anywhere from $175.00 for one thing up to over $999.00 for a replacement. I said well I will have my mother call to set up an appointment for the FREE ESTIMATE but if we had repairs done would it be okay to give my credit card info over the phone he said yes. I said okay well have them call me with the ESTIMATE when they are done.

11:40 I call my mother giving her the number to call them and to ask for Carl since I had spoken to him.

Around 3:40 I have not heard from my mother so I call her. She said she was waiting for Carl to call her back because when she called he was in a meeting. I told do you want hot water or not. Just talk to anyone and have them come give you the FREE ESTIMATE. She called me back a few minutes later telling me someone would be there in about an hour.

6:00 she calls to tell me nobody is there yet but she called Preferred Plumbing and Drain and they said they were busy but someone was on there way.

around 8:00 my mother calls me to tell me they fixed it and the repair man wants her to pay. I was like where was the FREE ESTIMATE It was not clear to me if my mother was ever given an ESTIMATE free or otherwise just okay we fixed it here is a bill.

At no time was I told you know John it could just be a pilot light that needs a relight and if that is it...it will be such and such.

Do I think having not only to wait 8 hours is a little much but I think the bill for relighting a pilot light is a little steep. Oh, but I do have a 30 day warrenty on the lighting of the pilot light. I'm not sure if that means in the next 30 days if the pilot light goes out she will get it done for free.

They do not disclose their prices when asked before they come out. Yes I asked about prices but was never told anything about a pilot light only if they replaced some part or the whole water heater.

Oh, and they said they did not call me with the ESTIMATE because earlier in the day I told them to stop calling me. Funny how they can call to get the bill paid after the work is done!

I asked for a copy of the bill I was first told that they would live a copy with my mother and she could fax it to me if I wanted it. What joke to bad I'm not laughing!

I had a clogged bathtub in a rental unit. I tried to snake myself and couldn't resolve the issue. I called on a Sunday and made an appointment for Monday morning. They called Monday morning to confirm and showed up on time. The quote to fix was for a $144 for the first hour. He tried to snake for an entire hour, nothing. Then said its additional $380 to cut a hole in the wall and snake from there. I was happy the problem was corrected very quickly but to charge $500 plus for 2 hours of work with no part costs and leave a hole in the wall is absolutely ridiculous. I wish I would have checked yelp of head of time. At that price I would not recommend and I'm sure there are plenty of very qualified plumbers that don't rip you off.

This is the most unprofessional company I have ever come into contact with. Last year I had hired them to come fix a leak in my toilet. After they pulled it apart it turns out I needed a new flange. To do this they had to jackhammer my floor and put a new flange on.

a year later, I was having clogs in my toilet so I called a different plumbing company to come over and it turns out that they had cracked the pipe that the flange is installed on and roots were growing in from the ground into my pipes! So I had to sit a week without my toilet for them to come out and completely redo the job, because from what they told me, their techs get paid comission so I was a LOW PRIORITY call. Fixing mistakes should be HIGH priority if I were running a business.

One of the plumbers who redid the tile work was smoking cigarettes in my driveway while cutting the tile, and ended up making mistakes while laying the tile, not using a grooved trowel, so now one tile sticks up higher than the others. I don't want to go through the hassel of dealing with the rude receptionists on the phone and service managers who don't want to talk to their customers so I'm just going to live with it. At least the job is done.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE DOLTS! We had an emergency issue at our rental and the tenant had no water. I called at 11pm happy to get someone on the phone to help... Brian assured me that someone would be calling me the next morning at 7:30am to confirm their arrival at 8am. Come the next morning, they were a no show. I called to check on their arrival. First they said they had no record of my call, after some probing when I gave specifics on our conversation, they found the ticket. I was then told they didn't have anyone to service until the next morning. The woman I had the displeasure of speaking to was dismissive and acted as if I was an inconvenience to her. The other companies insisted even though I had no hot water they couldn't send a tech until next week! The customer service from Preferred was impeccable! No quote or rough estimate given over the phone but will give you free estimate. Plumber arrived within an hour of placing a call and he went right to work, finished within an hour. They have coupons online, although they charge an additional processing fee of 10$. However they were very polite and understanding over the phone and on site. I got lower quotes over the phone which with the coupon came out to be same price. So be sure to check their site and print out a coupon.

Hired them to replace the two valves going to my washing machine since they were dripping from the on/off handle. They responded quickly and replaced them for $240. However after the water was turned back on the hot water in my show did not work. He explained that debris from turning the water off and on probably plugged the cartridge in the shower valve and he would take it off and clean out the cartridge. He was not able to get the cartridge out and ended up breaking the shower valve. He then had to cut a hole in the shower to replace the valve. I was not charged for the labor to repthe valve but did have to pay for the parts, $281. He did not have the right plate to cover the hole in the shower and I had to go buy one and put it on. I noticed that I was charged for the wrong parts after and he told me that his office would send me a refund for the difference but I am still waiting for that. While they were out here I asked them to also clear a clog in my sink and they did that for $300, no idea if that is a good price or not. The technician was nice and professional but overall the whole experience left me extremely frustrated.

I was selling my condo and my water heater wasn't up to code per the inspection that the buyers had done. I had very limited time to find a plumbing company that could come out and make sure that my water heater was up to code by the time my condo was closing. I contacted Preferred Plumbing & Drain on a Tuesday and spoke with a gentleman named Josh, he said it would be no problem at all to get someone out to my condo the next day at 10am. Technician Herman showed up right on time on Wednesday and looked at the Inspection paperwork I had on what needed to be done to the water heater and was able to bring it up to code in just a couple of hours. The customer service this company had was amazing, it made a stressful time go so smoothly for me. If you want a fast and reliable company who does great work contact them, I know I will definitely be using them in the future.

Terrible service! I have had such a hard time with a kitchen faucet (the company installed a new faucet one year ago, and just had to have them replace it again!) it is ridiculous! I will not be using this company again. It is so hard getting them to communicate! Very frustrating experience, just hope this new faucet lasts more than a year.

RECAP: While the repair appears to be done competently and the tech was nice, he showed up 2 hours late in a personal vehicle with no uniform and took several personal calls while on the job. We didn't get a written estimate or an itemized invoice, and the bill was much more than expected. When we contacted Preferred Plumbing via email with our concerns, we never even received a response!

FULL STORY: Called on a Saturday evening due to a substantial leaking bathroom sink valve. Got an appointment for Sunday between 10 - 12. Had to turn off our water while we waited for the technician. at Noon on Sunday, we called because no one had shown up or called. After several calls, we were told the tech would show up in about 1.5 hours and we would get a 10% discount for the missed appointment.

He showed up at 2 pm and told us it would cost $495 to replace the valve, install a new faucet (which we've needed for a while), strainer, and p-trap (and that this was more than 10% discounted). We did not get a written estimate. Since we had been without water for more than 18 hours, we agreed. The tech had to go buy parts and spent more than 45 minutes away from our home. He then spent a little more than an hour on the actual repair and almost 1/2 hour on the cleanup - and talking on the phone. We then got an invoice for $495 with no itemized listing of parts or labor. We paid by credit card and the tech had to use his pen to rub our number onto one of those old carbon credit card sheets!

When I called the office to get an itemized invoice, I was verbally told the tech said he charged us 3 hours labor at $145/hour and $129 for parts - this doesn't even add up to $495! The best we can figure is they charged about 2.5 hours labor (45 minutes of which was shopping) and $129 for parts. We checked Home Depot, and retail for the parts listed came to $48 plus tax... so they charged us 3 times the amount for the parts! AND they get them wholesale!

ZERO Stars. ZERO. NEVER do business with Preferred Plumbing & Drain.

I made a special day trip to our vacation residence -- three hours away from our home -- to have them install a toilet. They called us 4 times to confirm. We spoke with a different person every time, and each person had no idea that the others had called. On every confirmation call, we told them we needed them to supply the toilet. They told us that this wouldn't be a problem. Twenty minutes before our scheduled appointment time, they pushed our appointment back by three hours. And then the plumber arrived with no toilet.

I spoke with the owner, and he gave me a completely insincere sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused and offered me 10% off (which was going to be a whopping $20). I spent more than that on gas, not to mention the gas I'll need to use on the next separate trip I make.

Needless to say, we didn't do business with them and never will.

Zero stars for Preferred Plumbing & Drain. ZERO. ZERO. ZERO.

What a SCAM! One star is too much!!

I will just enclose a verbatim of what the tech did for me and then a verbatim of what another tech from Poot and Scoot did for me...
This was for a slow draining toilet...

Preferred - Cost $145 dollars (more if I bought a toilet!!)
1)Possible obstruction in toilet 2) Run closet Auger to clear obstruction would not break free. Pulled and inspected toilet - obstruction in trap. 3) toilet needs to be replaced. 4) Talked with homeowner and she says husband will come look at it after work. Reset toilet as courtesy - No warranty.

Poot and Scoot - Cost $32 - Problem solved!!
Complaint - toilet not flushing properly. Actions - 1)flushed with buckets. Flushes well. Not clogged. 2)found fill valve set 3 too low and fill hose not in the overflow tube. 3)reset valve and put hose in overflow so bowl will fill. - Tested several times - flushes with large amount of toilet paper.

What a rip!!!

Save yourself the aggravation. My home warranty company sent out Preferred Plumbing & Drain to fix a leaking pipe in my bathroom. The first problem started when it took the 2 technicians two days to fix a pipe leak that should have taken 1/2 day max. They had to make 4 trips for plumbing supplies and we never knew when they were going to show back up. After the first day of work, they left us with NO water before they returned the next day. The worst part is that while repairing my leak, they burned holes in my bathroom floor where they placed their hot welding tools on the floor. I notified the office that my floor had been damaged and showed the damage to the technician and he left saying he needed to go and find a match for the flooring and he would repair it. Are you kidding me, plumbers repairing flooring? The technician never showed back up. I've had to make numerous calls over the last 2 1/2 weeks and I still haven't gotten an answer of when my floor will be repaired.

They are not my preferred plumber and I will not be using my home warranty again for plumbing work since they are the only plumbing contractor they use to work in our area.

UPDATE: 6 weeks later and my floor has not been replaced. After numberous no show appointments, I give up. We will replace the floor ourselves and bill Preferred Plumbing. To add insult to injury, it turns out they did a crappy repair on my valve and that will need to be done as well.

This company is the most unprofessional organization, I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with and I am surprised they are still in business. I wish that we could give negative start ratings - 1 star is too generous for this company.

Our experience with your company was 5 stars. We are really impressed with the staff. From start to finish I felt prioritized and received excellent communication. We have gone with other plumbing companies in the past (Roto Rooters) and have had really poor experiences. We felt pricing was very fair as well. Technician overcharged me, and the office drags their feet on refunds. A tech named Eric arrived at my residence at 9:30 a.m. to clear a drainage problem with the main line. He said they charge $145 per hour, and tried to sell me a degreaser product for $35, that I declined. When I told him I'd be paying by check after he started working, he said there would be an additional $10 charge. At 10:05 a.m. the work was completed and I was handed an invoice for 2 hours of work for a total of $290. When I questioned the time onsite, Eric called a dispatcher who said he arrived at 9:05, and told me some nonsense about them being on military time, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and wrote a check. He also said he added the degreaser product for no charge. When I reviewed the invoice after he left, I noticed it had another customer's name and address on the top of the form, so I called the office. I spoke with Alison and explained the situation, that the technician had been onsite for less than an hour and gave me the wrong invoice. Alison said she added notes of the issue into their computer system, and that a corrected invoice and refund check of $145 would be mailed to me the next day, 2/27/15.

I didn't receive a corrected invoice or refund by 3/6/15, so called again, was transferred three times, and was told by a Luis that Alison was busy, and that a corrected invoice and refund check was being prepared for mailing on 3/7/15, and that I should receive it by 3/10/15. I still haven't received anything in the mail from Preferred Plumbing and Drain, and feel I'm being given the run around, so contacted the Better Business Bureau for help resolving the matter.

Wow is all I can say! This company truly came to my rescue and on Mother's Day when my water heater went out. I filled out an online request and within less than an hour they were at my door. Stephen 5 was extremely professional and explained everything every step of the way. He didn't leave a mess like some ithers have done in the past. He also noticed a leaking faucet in my front yard and was able to quickly fix that. I would definitely recommend them to any of my friends that need plumbing services. Way to go Preferred Plumbing!!

I discovered a broken pipe coming from under my house on Saturday. It was coming from under a concrete slab and I couldn't dig under far enough to get to it (and even if I could I wouldn't be able to do much about it) so I called Preferred Plumbing & Drain. They came right out and their tech was a really nice, clean, friendly young man (Mike) who diagnosed my problem and went under my house where there was a very small crawl space and was able to cap off the pipe before it went under the slab out to my backyard. Since it was only supplying a defunct sprinkler system he killed two bird with one stone by permanently cutting off the water to the old system and stopping the leak. Both problems solved. The fee wasn't cheap (I live quite a way from them) but well worth it to me. I would recommend them to anyone willing to listen!

Unfortunately, my recent experience with Preferred Plumbing was extremely disappointing. While I had previously had positive encounters with them, this latest incident has left me thoroughly dissatisfied. The replacement of a toilet took an astonishing 8 hours and resulted in a leak that caused significant water damage to our dining room ceiling. This situation was so severe that it required the involvement of a water damage company to dry out the ceiling and a carpet cleaning company to address the stains left behind. Despite their efforts to remedy the situation by coordinating additional services, the initial poor service and the resulting damage cannot be overlooked. I had higher expectations based on my previous experiences with this company, and I'm truly disappointed with how this situation was handled.

Called this company because I had a leak under my kitchen sink. Made an appointment for the following day but they failed to show up. Rescheduled for next day and they were over two hours late. Technician quoted me $450 for a 10 minute job. Spoke to owner and he gave me quote for $355. Hourly labor is $195. Decided to check around since it was so high. My neighbor came over and noticed technician had unscrewed two parts. Leak wasn't even in the area they were going to fix. My neighbor fixed it with some tape. This place is a rip off!!!!!

Was goin to rate 5 Stars but encountered a few problems. Needed immediate help prior to leavin for Hawaii. Plumbers came out & put my mind @ ease by Cutting hole in wall to bathtub faucet repair. Unfortunately, I came home to Saturated Carpet...Called Plumber & the Company (Cagon) who rescheduled return visits repeatedly Finally, different Plumber came & said source of leak was toilet not tub? He called Cagon for guidance & was told it was a different problem = More Money? Considering this guy was aware of ongoing scheduling & repair frustration, I found that absolutely absurd! Nonethess I subsequently spoke with Manager JORDAN who was very Kind & Apologetic. He explained staffing & service concerns of which I appreciated. He (JORDAN) also rightfully Authorized Repair @ No further cost. It is Jordans INTEGRITY that earned these Stars. Hopefully I have no more leaks but if so will definitely consider repeat business with P.P...

The thought of planning in advance for a plumbing emergency never occurred to me, so when multiple drains in a bathroom started to gush forth sewage and we were in this emergency, at night, we frantically called around after Googling emergency plumber. To be honest, we didn't choose Preferred Plumbing & Drain - they were just the first that got back to us. I don't even think we even asked the price.
Thankfully we chose well. After a modest wait, Nic G (plumber #9) arrived and proceeded to check the drain outside (in the dark), and then came in - respectfully with mask on - and took pictures to document the crappy situation. Within 90 minutes, the block was freed, the pipe was rooted, and the issue was fixed and we were quite relieved. He even did some troubleshooting of a previously slow faucet.
I don't know what I imagined late-night emergency plumbing would cost, but I was quite pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was. Best hundred-ish bucks we never wanted to have to spend. Thanks Nic.

Chris was the one who helped us in our apt.
The sink was starting to back up and our apt maintenance called in this company. & Chris did such a great job!! I was amazed at how thorough he was. He checked every apartment surrounding (mind you we live on the 3rd floor lol sorry chris) but he checked in to make sure he wasn't creating a mess in their sinks and nothing was getting clogged there. Not only did he check once in the beginning but AGAIN at the end just to be safe. He also had a great, genuine personality. Below is the initial day 1 review. 2 days later STILL waiting for this company to het a tech here to fix water. If I could give negative stars I would. This company is a joke.
Technician is 2 1/2 hours late so far! Not a good start to an already bad day. Was told an hour ago would be here in 15 mins. Called again and still on the way. Seriously? If you can't even be on time chances are the rest will be crap as well. Just as suspected the tech turned up, spent 2 hours in our house-texting photos of the drain parts as he had never seen them before- left our family with NO water for 3 days as has to come back after getting parts. We asked if leak could be capped so water to the rest of the house could be turned on. He said he couldnt. What??? So we have to turn water on at main to do anything while hot water spews out of leak (which will eventually ruin the hot water heater - not that HE mentioned that). Pretty sure this guy has no idea what the hell he is doing. Already put a complaint in with our warranty company that sent this group in the first place. Beware! Use a different company if at all possible.

Trying to do a project myself we bent the front main water line normally I use American water works owner Sean Cunningham but he was really tide up so he recommended this company... They came out on time provided an estimate...during the job it was a couple glitches and the job too longer but he stayed until the job was complete and didn't go up on the price. After the job he did a pipe inspection throughout the house I found out my kitchen drain was linking...next day I called my home warranty I was able to get that fix as well..good job and thank you for staying true to the estimate.

We have a hot water heater installed by Preferred Plumbing at our home. The original water heater is called State brand which was broken. This is the second time hired Preferred Plumbing to install water heater. The first water heater installed at our rental was Bradford White which is working fine over a year. It is good quality water heater. Second time, our home water heater was out of order and we called Preferred Plumbing to install the Bradford White water heater. After it was installed, we heard hammer sound in the master bedroom toilet, tub and sink, and later in the guest bath room. It was very annoying as this sound was loud that woke up in the middle of the night. We called the service man to fix the problems and yet it could not be fixed. We had this problem over three months and called the company again. Another experienced tech came out and checked the water main connected to our home. Yes, he did fix the problems. We satisfied their service. We will call them for future water heater service again. They did a good job.

We called for our shower faucet to be fixed and they arrived quickly. Jacky was our plumber, great service! He was in good spirits even though he had to make several trips to the hardware store since our issue was complicated. I had an appointment to get an estimate to repipe my entire house with copper (most expensive). They did NOT show up.
Being a reasonable person I called after they were 20 minutes late to see if they were running late/stuck in traffic/etc.
I was told they were NOT going to make it out today but if I wanted they could reschedule for some other day.
Preferred Plumbing didn't bother to call me. I had to call them.
Very unprofessional. I will go elsewhere. I suggest if you value your time you do the same. Unacceptable.

High prices! Then when you have an issue with their work, they do not work with the customer. I had a leak in my kitchen sink. It's a 2nd sink and rarely used. The warranty was good for 30 days. The same issue came up just after the 30 days, but they would not budge and charged me again .. I overheard the plumber on the phone with the company saying he felt bad for charging me again, that it was obviously the same issue he came out for the first time (same guy). The company charged me an additional $160. The gasket failed from the first repair which was $250, less than two months earlier.

We were dealing with a clogged main pipe near the tub. All the water from our garage and kitchen sink were overflowing into the tub

Our first plumber told us we needed to replace the sewer pipe and it would cost over $15,000 dollars. We told him we needed a second opinion. We called preferred plumbing at 530 pm and they had Raymond technician #26 come at 9.

Raymond called early and was on time and communicated exactly what the issue was. I asked if there were other issues he said nope and that he'll get to the bottom of it. I asked if he can check the other pipes and he showed me the residential packages they had. I went with package 2 (checked all the pipes in the house as well as cleaned and degreased) and it was well worth the money and piece of mind.

Raymond worked diligently and thoroughly. He updated us when necessary and made sure all the pipes were clog free. Cannot say enough good things about Raymond and his honesty.

Wow! That really describes this company and it's people. New Year's Eve and all sinks,toilets and baths were overflowing. No one could come out till next week so in desperation I called there number in Sacramento knowing they would say too far away. This was at 11.00 a.m. he told me that he could have someone out but would have to call me back,,,, ya checks in the mail. Well he did indeed call me back within minutes and told me he was pulling a man off a job 15 miles away and he'd be right up. I live in the hills. Well 30minutes later. 2 trucks pulled up and was greeted byMatt and Jack and Tadashi. Immediately and professionally jumped into action and in no time flat had it fixed. Super friendly and professional. What a customer wants. Great customer service and a price that was more than competitive.
I will never have to shop yellow pages again. I have found my plumbers.

We had a blockage in our line that caused the toilet to backup and overflow. Not a pretty sight.
I called Preferred Plumbing and Drain and they sent someone out within a couple of hours.
The plumber that came out was able to clear the drain quickly. He was very friendly and explained everything he was doing.
I was impressed with how he was very thorough with cleaning all of the areas he worked in.
He was able to complete the kob in one hourwhich made me feel that he was conscientious of the time and did not try to spread out the work to make it an extra hour.
I am very satisfied wiith their work and would highly recommend Preferred Plumbing and Drain to my friend in need.

Long story short, we bought our home two years ago, and from day one had sewer line problems. Come to find out the sewer line had to be replaced. When you have two kids, two car payments, credit card bills, and a mortgage every penny counts.
We called five different plumbing companies and they all gave us very expensive estimates except for Preferred Plumbing & Drain. The owner himself responded to my email right away. Basically for 75ft of sewer line to be replaced everyone wanted from $4500-$11,000, but not Preferred Plumbing.
Two hard working guys came out (I mean hard working, even on a major holiday they worked. I've never seen anyone work as hard as these two) got our job done for less than $3500. Very professional and put up with my overbearing attitude without a complaint. Oh, the best part they drove all the way to Winters from Sacramento. Thank you Preperred Plumbing & Drain for ridding our sewer line worries. We finally feel at home.

Charles is the man and shout-out to the people working the front desk too for being very responsive and quick.

Charles quickly fixed my water heaters thermocoupler and was responsive when issue with water heater continued. Came back around and carefully looked at the water heater, made sure I was there to hear from AO Smith customer service on the phone. In the end he cleaned it out and got it working.

Also had a good talk about replacing it and the options I have, when that time comes will call him back again.

Had a minor kitchen sink drain (sludge) blockage.

Started well, company said our tech is on the way. Called 25 minutes later: Can't find your address. I gave cross streets. Finally arrived 30 minutes later.

Once inside, 'technician' tried to sell me 2 drain clean outs for $220, plus a bottle of drain cleaner for $49. After 15 minutes of negotiating and a call to HQ, we agreed on one cleanout under the kitchen sink for $135. (My wife was making dinner for 8 and it was almost 3:00 pm. I was desperate.).
Actual work took about 20 minutes. A less wary senior citizen could have been pressured by this guy (who also wanted to sell a complete cleanout package for $349).
This name won't go into my rolodex.

Lots of water was leaking out from the bottom of my toilet. After reading the reviews I called preferred plumbing. The downside was that they didn't have anyone available until 9 at night due to their techs being extremely busy. Matt was friendly and upfront about the costs. He found the problem and was able to fix it that night. Matt took the the time to show and explain the problem to me. He made me feel confident in the work that he did to fix my plumbing issue. He was clean with his work and was able to find and fix the problem in a timely manner. I would definitely call them again for any future plumbing issues.

So thankful for preferred plumbing, technican David and manager josh are amazing! I had an entire building blocked and tenants could not use their toilets. Josh pulled david off a job over an hour away at 5pm to make sure I was taken care of and didn't have to take wait overnight. I had a faulty part on my water heater. Same part that was recalled & replaced a little over a year ago. This man came out, & while he DID give me a full tank of hot water, he also told me I needed a new water heater, a new vent pipe, permits, blah blah blah. I was quoted $1575! He then disconnected the gas line & took off with my electronic ignition button, leaving the water heater unusable. It was deemed a carbon monoxide hazard for a yellow flame.

A couple hours later, new plumber, 15 minutes, new part, $100, problem solved. (yellow flame was only due to dust etc not letting enough oxygen to the flame, hence the yellow flame.) Make sure you get a second opinion before going with this company.

If it were possible to rate negative stars I would. I called on Monday evening and spoke to a very pleasant young man who transferred me to a scheduler, also a pleasant young man, who scheduled an appointment for Tuesday and let me know that the technician would call to confirm the time. The appointment came and went and no technician, no technician call. Then the pleasant young man called again and said you are not going to like this and then informed me that the technician would not be there. He asked if we could reschedule, being a reasonable adult I agreed and scheduled another appointment for Thursday evening. I also asked if he was certain the technician would keep this appointment. Appointment time came and went and no technician. I called and a pleasant young woman transferred me to a not so pleasant young woman who let me know that no one was coming as they were having trouble finding a technician who could work on a water heater. (really?) She asked if I would like to reschedule and I said only if you can guarantee that they will show as I have been without hot water for four days now and cold showers are getting tiresome. She said she couldn't guarantee they would find someone but we should reschedule. I declined!!!! So if you like making appointments call them, if you actually want a plumber don't.

Company was a breeze to work with and fast. I had my landlord involved making the arrangements with this company and all I had to do was receive a call from them and say the day available sounded great.

They showed up on time, instantly got to work and completed the job in a timely manner. The job was a repair to the pipe in our backyard so digging was involved. They replaced the yard as it was found including the stepping stones and washed all the dirt off the cement. Very polite and friendly guys. I have had complete messes left from other companies so this was a big plus in my opinion.

3rd time using and yes, I did run into some issues this time but the company made it right.

I was quoted one price but at then end charged another. I sent email to company explaining that they should of updated me on price if it was to change. They agreed and assured me they do but for whatever reason that tech didn't and they were very apologetic. They immediately told me they would be issuing me a refund and apologized. I didn't ask for a refund but am blown away and happy they are doing it. They are a company that knows how to make things right when they go wrong.

I want to give special thanks and recognition to two of the most kind and professional plumbing technicians; Herman (45) and Tony (74). How often does a person want to hug the plumber after the job was done?
My morning started out as a disaster when my kitchen sink backed-up. Things got worse when it was discovered that there was a broken pipe. They remained professional as they explained every detail about the needed work and cost to my landlord. Throughout the whole experience they were friendly and courteous. He (my landlord) gave them full approval to do the work. Both technicians worked as a team and were committed to the best results.
Through advice from their own boss they were also able to do a cost effective job for the maximum amount of results.

I suppose I did not realize this was not a local company. So watch that carefully.

Project
Our issue was that when the dishwasher was draining, ALL of the water was coming out from the air gap into the sink. I do mean ALL of the water.

The good!
Let me start by saying that Cody was very personable, quick and informative. He immediately diagnosed that it could be either 1. The discharge hose is plugged with food or sludge and would need to be cleaned out or 2. When the garbage disposal was installed, the small plug/knock out was not punched out and removed.

The haggle
So we settled on a price, which they don't tell you in the Yelp app that it is $175 hourly rate. After I said, no, $175 seems excessive to me. He asked what can you do?.
Anyway, we settled on a price after he talked to the office I guess.
Beware of companies that do not provide an estimate or their hourly rate up front and offer on-site estimates. I think that is a scam to pressure you into agreeing to their service. My mistake completely.

Job
When he removed the black discharge hose and looked in the garbage disposal, sure enough, the little plug/knock out piece was still intact!
So he removed that and cleaned out the hose as well.

The not so good
After removing the plug, we wanted it all tested of course and ran the dish washer in drain cycle and the water came through the discharge hose and into garbage disposal and into the drain! Worked great!
I press the switch to garbage disposal and a very loud noise was produced as if something was in there. (That was NOT happening right before this service call).
Cody looked inside garbage disposal and didnt see anything and said it is probably the blades in the disposal that need tightening??? I had never heard of that but OK.
He even said that the little knock out was probably still attached but wasn't in the disposal.
He said we would need to contact an appliance repair person to look at that.
So, I guess I do not understand how a service call can fix one issue, creating a new issue and leave it as it was.

Again, Cody himself, was a very nice person, but I believe this was UNCOMPLETED work on Preferred Plumbing and would NOT recommend them to anyone or use them again. I just feel that if you pay someone to do a job, it should be done right and NOT cause another issue that was not happening before.

We ended up doing more research and all advice and YouTube videos indicated that something MUST be in the disposal. So that evening or next, we took our flashlight and looked inside and guess what was in there!!?? Yup, the little knock out plug! We had to use some needle nose pliers to remove it and the disposal purred after that. So, because of an uncompleted job that we paid for, we had to still fix the issue ourselves....

We had a leak in the gas valve of our water heater. It's a holiday and I wasn't sure if I can get service right awa. I called Preferred Plumbing and they picked up my call at 8pm. The operator said I'll get a call back from dispatch and in 10 minutes I did. Jay was able to find me a technician who can come over. Michael did a great job fixing our gas leak. Called these guys and they came out for a free consultation and they replaced the solenoid for a couple hundred bucks and went to home depot for the parts the same day. Let me preface this review by saying that while I will never use this company again, they did make their mistakes right.

Now, for a little more detail. From start to finish, our experience with with Preferred Plumbing was about two months for only one needed fix: a new clean out, which wasn't discovered until 3/4 into the project. In the course of the two months we had over ten people in our home, and three misdiagnoses. We had spent (and were later refunded) over $2000. We had two bathroom floors, including foundation, dug out requiring new flooring for pipes, only one which required repair and the whole was caused by their company on the original visit 4 week prior to digging up the bathroom. We will also need carpet cleaning because not one of the employees in and out of our home put down drop clothes, took of their shoes or put on booties and our carpets are not severely stained. Having said this, Frank did refund us all our money except 1/2 of the very first house call and the cost of replacing the clean out, which was what we needed. So... all in all, I would say this: I was a terribly long, stressful and difficult time for us while we were without either our bathroom or shower and living in a mess with no real idea of what was going on with our plumbing. But, they did make it right. So, there's that.

If you decide to use this company, make sure you FULLY understand what they are doing BEFORE they do it. Know that all involved parties have clearly communicated with various employees are involved. And DO NOT write a check if something feels weird or not right. ASK QUESTIONS.

I do appreciate that the company refunded our money... it was a long, messy two months of our life that I am SO glad are over!

The night before Easter Sunday the kitchen clogged. Kumar came and helped in under an hour in the evening.

I am a renter who needed water leaks fixed in kitchen and bath. Testing showed the presence of mold in our kitchen and I needed evidence of related water damage under the house to confirm. Michael Rivera (Tech17) showed up on day one to fix the problem areas and was thorough, professional and courteous. He spent a significant amount of time determining where the kitchen leak was and he did confirm the presence of water stains, consistent with the mold-tested area. On the second day, Michael and I had scheduled his arrival to be at 9am and by 9:30 I had not heard from him so I called. He said he was picking up some materials and would be over - about 45 minutes later than scheduled. The later time was not really an issue for me but I do think he should have called me prior to 9am to inform me of his delay (professional courtesy). Nevertheless, he was able to complete the bathroom fix in less time than he predicted and was again very courteous. There is ALWAYS room for improvement in an imperfect world, so I will recommend this plumber and company with 4.5 stars.

Where to begin? I called this company because they were highly rated on Google and nearby. I had a plumbing issue and my insurance company insisted that we have a plumbing inspection. I called and was told that inspections are free and that they would quote us on site. Instead they send some young kid who treated us like we were idiots and after 30 mins left us with a bill for $145 for the inspection. Confused, I called the office to find out what the deal was. After being transferred three times, I finally talked to a supervisor who told me that inspections are free if and only if you plan on using their service for the repairs. Which was never communicated to me even though I told them it was for insurance. Turns out we do need some repairs and had they done what they said they would, I probably would have used their service and paid the company much more than the original $145. I even called them to see if they would credit the $145 to the repairs needed, they offered to credit us only $40 to which I told them to kick rocks. I found another company nearby with better prices and way better customer service that will be doing the plumbing repairs. Bud's Plumbing Service has been very open about the cost for parts and labor, they treated me like a human being, they're very professional and prompt with their service. Never again will I call Preferred Plumbing & Drain.

Do not waste your time and money! use another business. After repairing our garbage disposal in the sink, our dish washer floaded our dining room and messed up our brand new wood floor! it took for us to call them several times and get mad on the phone to have our wood repaired 3 weeks later. our faucet is still leaking and we are afraid to have them touch it, eventhou this happens after all their repairs.

I have used preferred on two occasions and they were both a disaster! The first visit was to unplug a toilet and the seemed to unplug the issue. We had to call him back three times and on the third occasion a different guy resolved the issue. The second call to Preferred was to redo plumbing for a new kitchen and unplug two drains in the bathroom. After the fourth visit the drains were still not flowing and the Lowes contractor refused to hook up my new kitchen after the horrible job Preferred did inside the wall to install two water lines and a stub for the drain. I argued with the plumber and they insisted that the work was done correctly. An inspector verified that it was not up to code and Preferred insisted that it was correct. After several arguments and $900.00 dollars later I had the Plumbing Therapist correct the work including the drains and a couple of other items for a fraction of the price. The Plumbing Therapist does excellent work at a much more reasonable cost. I will never use or recommend Preferred Plumbing to anyone. It was an expensive lesson that I will never forget. I would rate them as zero start if I could.

I came home Saturday evening to a leaking sprinkler pipe under a concrete walkway between my house and my pool where there really was not a lot of space to work. PP&D sent a plumber out first thing Sunday morning. Rod was great. He assessed and diagnosed the problem and recommended a solution. He then spent most of the day in plus 100 degree heat fixing the leak. I could tell it was a challenge but Rod was a professional and gentleman the whole time. He explained what he was doing and was super polite with us as we asked questions and discussed his work. He took care not to let debris get in my pool and to limit the mess from the work site and then pack up all his stuff when he was done. After 24 hours without water, it was a blessing to have it back. Thank you, Rod!

My property developed a leak in a 2 cast iron drain line under the house (raised foundation) around the area of the kitchen. Upon completion of the repair of about 2' of cast iron drain line, I decided to get three quotes, two from competitors and one from Preferred (rule of 3 bids) to replace the entire secondary line. The lowest quote I received was a little over double of what I was charged to repair/replace the 2' foot section of the same line. ($1,100 repair vs. $2500 complete replacement)

After comparing what was paid for the repair versus the quote to remove and replace the entire secondary drain line, I felt I was over charged. I contacted Preferred and spoke with Josh to dispute what I was charged for the repair work. Josh heard me out and took time to have a meaningful discussion about the scope of work and what was conducted. He refunded a portion of what I had paid. I appreciated the consideration and customer service.

My landlord called because my water pressure is so low that we are completely unable to shower or wash dishes at our house, they were supposed to come between 10-12:00 4/3. At 1:00 I called to see why they didn't show up and was told they couldn't find a technician to come out but they would try to get somebody there by 4 or they would come between 10-12 the next day. At 1:00 I called because they still hadn't showed up!! She said she could try to get somebody there within 45 minutes...I have been waiting for two days, have pushed back and rescheduled appointments for two days....I'm not willing to wait longer because I highly doubt they will show up!! And it would been a nice chunk of change for them too because something is seriously wrong with the water in my house!!!

Last week we had to call PG&E because we smelled gas in our kitchen. They came out and immediately shut off the gas to the house due to the severity of the leak under the cooktop. We were desperate and completely unprepared. We reached out to Mike at Preferred Plumbing & Drain.
We sent Mike some photos of the area under our cooktop and provided some additional information. After asking some of his own questions, Mike laid out where the problems might be, explained the process of trying to isolate the leak and what corrective measures might be available. Mike could tell we were very concerned and in a bit of a bind with no gas to the house. He assured us they would help get this resolved as quickly and safely as possible.
Mike said he would send us one of his top guys, Jorge, and he would be out first thing the next morning. Josh called to confirm when George would arrive. Jorge was on time, and very courteous and professional. He arrived wearing a mask and wore gloves the entire time he was here, which ended up being about a day and a half.
Jorge was very patient and informative. He had to jackhammer down through the foundation under the cooktop. He actually made himself a cave made out of plastic which kept all the dust and debris off our granite countertops and hardwood floors. It was ingenious, but I'm sure also very, very hot during this weather. At every step Jorge gave us updates of what he was finding, or not finding, and what he was doing next or looking for. I also noticed Jorge kept in close contact with Mike as they discussed the investigation as it unfolded. We view this as excellent teamwork, and a dedication to doing the best job possible for us.
The leak turned out to be further up the chain than we dared to expose and fix. We asked Mike his opinion to see what are options were. Mike explained what would be needed to expose the leak, fix it and then repair the area. Weighing the cost of the repair (exposure, fix, repairing) with capping the line in the attic and replacing our gas cooktop with an induction or electric one, we decided to cap the line. This was coming down to dollars and cents and we were thankful to have such a knowledgeable group of people to help us work through what was best for us.
Jorge quickly capped the gas line in the attic and returned the area under the cooktop to its original state. He had taken great care to get the flooring of the island out, so when he was done you could barely tell anything had been disturbed. He cleaned the area, tested everything and provided us photos of the capped gas line in the attic for our reference.
Mike called us to discuss how things went and to see if we had any questions. Again, he was patient and spoke in terms that were easy enough for us to understand. We raved about Jorge. Mike, too, is to be commended. It's rare to see this level of cooperation between the person in the field and the manager. And to have the level of care, professionalism and support we received from the entire team at Preferred Plumbing & Drain.
If you need any plumbing help we couldn't recommend a better company. They were timely, professional, very courteous, clean and detailed. They communicated and informed every step of the way. Our thanks to Mike, Jorge and Josh for a superb job well done!

If I could give a negative rating I would. I called this company this morning with a request to determine whether or not an apartment in a building I manage had a gas leak. They showed up several hours later but without the proper gas leak equipment. We then called PGE, who came out and determined what the issue was - a valve needed to be replaced. They then shut off the gas. I immediately phoned Preferred Plumbing and asked their technician to return to fix the issue, and I was very detailed in what needed to be done. I was told that someone would be out at the apartment between 6 and 7. Given the emergency nature of the issue, I very clearly stated that I was concerned given the late hour that they may not be able to do the job. I had a back up plumber who could. I had the dispatcher put me on not one but two holds and then assured me it was not a problem. The original tech who had come out later phoned and again assured me we were a priority and the job would be done. At 6pm another person at the company phoned and said they could not do the job after all. Are you kidding me? I explained the situation and was told that it was an unfortunate situation. What is unfortunate is that I have a sad little four year old girl unable to have heat, a warm bath, or dinner thanks to this company. I also have an elderly couple equally unable to eat, shower, or have heat. I am now trying to figure out if I need to send them to a hotel tonight, at great inconvenience, thanks to this soul-less company. Avoid at all costs. Promises apparently are just suggestions. I have never, ever, cursed at a vendor in my long history of property management, but tonight, I actually did let a few choice words fly.

Noticed a problem after everyone was closed ( of course ), so I called Preferred because their ad said 24 hrs. Unfortunately for my case, someone was not available for the problem I was having. However, I did have appoint first thing in the morning. The office called to confirm the situation and the guy arrived on time. The repairman did indicate it is still under warranty so he called the company and ordered the part for us. Took one day to receive. After the repair of the pilot light assemble for our hot water heater, we still noticed a strong had smell. We then called the office back and they were able to get me an appointment same day after work!! The ladies are very nice and communicative with the customers.

We had a clog that needed clearing, leaks to be addressed in both bathrooms, and a shower head in need of replacement. Jesus #87 was the technician who came out to address. He was so easy to work with. Very pleasant personality and extremely knowledgeable. Took the time to explain what the issues were and the fixes to address. Was careful with any equipment brought into the house, and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. If I had any questions he took time to respond. Also had someone in training along with him, Lizzy, it was a really good team. Based on my interaction with Jesus and the experience he brought to the table I would recommend this company without hesitation.

Our shower and laundry room backed up.
I contacted Cody at Preferred Plumbing, and he sent Gene out.
Gene is great! He snaked our pipes, and listened while my husband addressed our concern with a broken sewer main. We haven't received our estimate as of yet, since Gene just left.
If you have a plumbing need, I would definitely suggest Gene.

Jon from Preferred Plumbing was absolutely amazing! He was so knowledgeable and explained every detail to ensure that we completely understood our plumbing issues. He worked many hours and didn't leave until the job was complete. He was very responsive to our communication and made our emergency issue a top priority. I had kitchen drain plugged up during Thanksgiving. Called Preferred the next day. They were very professional on the phone. I got a rate quote set up an appointment-_within two hours Brandon showed up. He was very professional and courteous. Took his time and got the job done...drain unplugged at about 25 feet into the pipe. They also have a 30 day warranty - no charge if the drain should plug up within that time frame.

4 stars instead of 5 because I was given different quotes from different people, and I was also told all of their people are plumbers...which they are not. They are plumber's trainee technicians...which in this case I did not mind. I did not like the fact that I was not told the entire truth on the phone.

STOP. Call another company and save yourself the agony of dealing with Preferred Plumbing and Drain. I called them out to clear a backed up sewer. The first guy they sent wanted to pull off BOTH my toilets to snake the lines and he could do it for a special of $350. The poo water drained out of the bath tub, he left, and within two hours the sewage was backing up again. They sent a different guy out the 2nd time who told me the first one had done it all wrong. The 2nd did it his way and tried to tell me it might not be covered by their warranty. He got the water to drain and I told him the manager could call me if they expected me to pay more. The next morning, guess what? Sewage in the tub again! Preferred sent out a THIRD guy who told me the problem was in my shower and that this was not covered under the warranty. Plus the price to run a camera had magically gone up to $250 when I was quoted $150 earlier. (By this point I called another company.) Within 2 MINUTES the other company found the real problem (in the main, not the shower) and DIDN'T even charge for running the camera. LISTEN TO ME PLEASE - run! Avoid Preferred Plumbing.

Tyler and Cyrus/Silus/Cylus. were really great, quite knowledgeable and works fast. i had a kitchen sink problem and they got to it pronto. had fun chatting with them about pipes stuff. these guys were really young and i admire young people working honestly. that's a very rare characteristic. these guys will go far. based on other reviews here with different guys. id suggest calling these two guys. kudos to the company for having them!

Our kitchen sink ended up exploding water all over the cabinet and floor. We reached out to them they worked around our schedule so my wife didn't have to deal with it lol. Tony #74 was the tech that came out noticed it was the faucet that failed. He went and picked us up a new one installed it and got it all done within an hour. Great job very friendly and saved us from the headache. Will recommend to anyone and will be using them as our preferred vendor in the future. Thanks Tony

We had to have a water heater replaced (and brought up to code) in our 1923 home. The first plumbing company that we contacted came out to do an estimate, but no showed on us twice for appointments to actually perform the work (wasting two days unnecessarily off from work). We then called a second company and were told that it would cost almost $4,000.00 to replace our water heater (more than three times as much as the original estimate we received). We then called Preferred Plumbing. Firstly, they quoted us essentially the same amount as the first company did. Secondly, our appointment to get the estimate as well as our appointment to have the work performed were both after hours (e.g.,in the evening)...meaning neither of us had to stay home from work to wait around. Brandon (#56) is who did both the estimate and the work. He was prompt, courteous, tidy, personable and got the job done as quickly as one could. He did not complain about the complications/hassle factors - of which there were many (having to go into the basement to do the job, the very steep stairs, low ceiling, having to empty the old tank in bucket-fulls, etc.).There is no extra charge for after hour estimates or service. The estimates are free whether you have them do the work or not. The office staff were courteous and efficient. We were called to be kept appraised of when the technician would arrive. Actually, we had a specific appointment time (versus a window of time) for the actual repair job. The entire experience was excellent. We subsequently had Brandon out to do another (unrelated) plumbing repair and once again, he was prompt, courteous, tidy and got the repair done quickly and effectively! We had absolutely nothing but positive experiences with this company.
I do note that others have had less favorable experiences. All I can say is, ask for Brandon (or one of the other technicians who have received a positive review). You can specify who you want to come out!
