Funky issues with some wiring, all sorted out. John was a pleasure to work with and exactly the type of help I was hoping to get. He was extremely clear and straightforward, fixed my issue (which I was missing sleep over), went the extra mile to take care of some additional clean up items (my wife is happy) and is now my permanent go-to for electric work. Ok, it was Super Bowl Sunday. My son lives in our condo and goes to a local college. Needless to say, when he called us and told us the power is out and it is just my unit we panicked. We are hundreds of miles away, and the HOA was useless to help us. I called 3 people all claiming to be open on a Sunday (did I say it was Super Bowl Sunday yet???). In any event, none of them answered the call for emergency service. Well, Ocean Electric did. When I explained the problem they were so helpful.

Over the phone, I explained the problem and he said have your son call me. Within 20 minutes, the power was on, and they did not charge us. I am not promoting taking a free service, but this company is now in my phone and is my go to electrician from this day forward. What amazing, caring people and I could not thank them enough. This is how you earn customers for life.

So as a worried parent whose back up plan was throw out everything in the refrigerator and get a hotel for the night to being back in business in minutes, the service and care was appreciated. 5 Stars all the way. Thank you Ocean Electric.

These guys were great - after trying to talk through a possible solution over the phone, they found time between appointments to come over and resolve a relatively minor issue with our outlets. They were friendly and efficient, no surprises, and even stayed a few extra minutes to fix an outlet box that wasn't quite deep enough in the wall and previously left the plate hanging out a few millimeters. Always hoping we won't have to call the pros again, but if the need arises, I'll call these guys for sure.

The day after Christmas, in the middle of a diy bathroom project, the power went off in my bathroom and adjoining bedroom. Called a bunch of electricians and they weren't open because of the observed holiday on Dec 26th.

John to the rescue!

He was quick to respond, did a thorough diagnostic of the problem, explained everything he did, and made recommendations going forward. Identified a shoddy and dangerous wiring job in the attic that had been done by the person who owned/flipped the house before I moved in. He fixed the problem and made sure it was in a safe and secure position that wouldn't be a fire hazard. Honest, reliable, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

Leave it to the professionals!  Recently started doing some upgrades to my home.  In our bathroom, there is a fan and light controlled by one switch and we wanted them separated out so we didn't always have to have the fan running when we turned on the light.  Seemed simple enough; buy the switch, install and... poof!  No light, no fan and even no power to some of the outlets.  Okay, took another look at the wiring and tried it again.  Nothing!

I'm definitely not the type of person who gives up on things, but on the other hand, some things are just better left to the professionals.  I began calling local electricians and mostly what I heard was our next appointment is in two weeks...  I called Ocean Electric and left a message.  Within a few minutes I got a text from John letting me know to call whenever I had a chance.  I called him right back and explained what happened.  Unlike all the others who told me it was essentially impossible to get someone the same day let alone the same week, John told me he was almost finished with another job and would be out to my home in about an hour!  I thought this must be too good to believe but sure enough, John and his work partner showed up and went right to work.

They are both very professional and within a minute or two they had diagnosed the problem.  Unfortunately, the bathroom wasn't wired for a dual switch.  They offered to put the old switch back and that would be the end of it or if I was okay with it, they would drill a few holes, run some additional wire and make it work with the two switch.  I really wanted the dual switch but it was going to require drilling possibly up to five holes.  Again, I really wanted the dual switch so I told John to go ahead.  I was able to return to my work while they went ahead with the repairs.  In all, I think it might have taken them an hour and it when it was all over, the dual switch was working perfectly!  

But not only that, through John's expertise, he managed to only drill one hole to run the new wire.  But to be honest, I don't know if it really would have mattered had he drilled more holes.  They are absolute professionals and did an amazing patch job of the hole they made and cleaned up entirely after they were finished.  I've had other electrical work performed where they had to cut dry wall and those people did NOT do any type of patch work or repair of the dry wall.  John doesn't just throw up a patch; he really does an amazing job that almost looks like nothing at all was done to the wall!  

I feel VERY fortunate to have come across John and without question, for ANY electrical work I ever need done, he will be the first person I will call.  He and his work partner were VERY professional and friendly.  They are very knowledgeable, thorough and quick.  If you are EVER in need of an electrician, I really can't recommend them enough.  Don't even call anyone else for a quote.  Just go straight to John and you won't be disappointed.  Thanks again John for helping me out today and responding so quickly!

Amazing service!

On a cold Friday night half my house suddenly went dark...including the central heating. I checked the breakers and nothing had tripped. Switching them off and on did make an electrical crackling noise though...so I knew I was in some trouble.

I called Ocean Electric Saturday morning and John was able to come by the same day. It's a 70-year old house with the ancient breaker-box to match, but he quickly diagnosed the issue and had a plan to fix it. After several hours of effort he was able to work a minor miracle and got the power back up and running. When it came time to pay the charges were very reasonable, especially considering all the effort involved.

I would definitely recommend John and Ocean Electric's services and will be going to them when I upgrade my breaker box later this year.

I've used Ocean for 2 project so far, both involving the installation of ceiling fans.  John did a great job both times and will be using him again for the installation of some in-ceiling speakers.  There was a set-back in the most recent job due to some warped screws (not due to him) but John insisted on doing it right the first time and decided to come back the next day so that he could bring the right tool to resolve the issue with my ceiling fan box.  I'm super happy with the fans and again, will be using Ocean again!

I called before July 4th. I got a call back same day. It was a good call but the guy asked if he could get back to me after the holidays. I said no problem then waited a week- no call. I called again and got hung up on. He called right back, said he had bad reception and would call me back. NO CALL, no text, no email. Went with Raceway Electric who scheduled a meeting the next day.

We had a problem with an outlet being hot and producing a strange fishy smell.  John came out same day.  He quickly fixed the problem.  He then looked at another outlet in the garage that was falling apart and he fixed that too.  Highly competent, good communicator, reasonable pricing.  Would certainly recommend.

If i could leave 6/5 stars I would. John came over to help, on his day off and was so professional, nice and all around genuine. I was initially a bit freaked out as the power had completely gone out in our kitchen and this had been an on and off problem for a week. My wife and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. After John got here he assured me it was a simple fix and even taught me a little on how replacing the outlets and breakers for our home works. The best experience I have ever had working with an Electrician. I will definitely be calling John back if i ever have issues in the future. Definitely will be recommending to my friends and family that live in the SD area as well.

John is really great! Had some wiring mixed up in our bedrooms after installing ceiling fans and he came right out and redid the wiring in both rooms. He also fixed an outlet that wasn't quite right as he was on his way out just because I asked him a question about it (and he was already off the clock) Great customer service!!I will definitely be using him again and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a good friendly honest electrician!

John and Daniel are the best. We needed electrical work to bring up to code before our new oven is installed. They came out on short notice ... squeezed us in. Routing the wires through existing construction was a challenge, but the killer turned out to be insufficient electrical service in the first place. So, we didn't do any of the work today, and my job is to find another oven. After that, it's a slam dunk that I'll call Ocean Electric to do the work. With John's great expertise and grace, OE is for us. Stand by ... !

OK ... more: the work did get done. It wasn't cheap, but it was done well. My recommendation is still 5-star.

We came home to a loss of power in half our house. I called John early in the morning the next day and he was able to come out that day and fix the whole problem in about a half an hour. He was able to switch out a burned out breaker and identify another that was sure to be next. Price was extremely reasonable, communication was great, and John is a very nice guy. Overall great experience.

John is really a nice guy and very knowledgeable.  Unfortunately, he was very unreliable and unresponsive despite my many efforts to be patient with him.  Essentially, I Had a 2 phase project with him.  Took extra effort to get the first phase setup and scheduled.  He disappeared on me after that and wouldn't return any calls or texts.  Left me in a bad spot and hand to start from scratch and hire someone else to finish the project he started.  I wish him And his business well as he really seems like a great guy.  Wish he just would have been more honest about his availability instead of not responding.  That is not the way to do business in any trade or industry.

John came over to install a ceiling fan in a 20 foot ceiling and change some lights over to LEDs. I had a short list of needs but he did such a quick and amazing job that I found myself adding more and more things that maybe I'll try that myself when I get time just weren't getting done. He was so fast, did quality work, was very reasonable. I won't call anyone else for our electrical needs!  Ocean electric is amazing

John was a pleasure to work with. I had to sell my mom's mobile home and there was a serious electrical issue and he fixed it and at a very reasonable price. Since I'm 2000 miles away he sent me photos and kept me up to date on the progress. Great experience and highly recommend!!

Can't say enough about John and his team at Ocean Electric.  I needed a panel upgrade on my fixer upper and once a permit was issued, John dropped everything to accommodate my schedule defined by the SDGE disconnect date.  He located all of the equipment needed for the job, much of it extremely hard to find given the pandemic, removed my ancient panel and installed a new one quickly and efficiently.  He made several suggestions along the way that will allow for a much easier renovation and solar install down the road.  SDGE ran nearly 3 hours late for their reconnect and John waited patiently for them to return, had me back up and running within mutes of their departure.  Best of all, his price of the job was well below the other estimates I received.

I had electrical wiring problems that everyone who tried to resolve them told me it was gremlins in the wiring.  I was lucky to find John he told he would show up tomorrow and would take a look.  Showed on time, professional they spent a total of 6 minutes before they isolated the issue.  He called up the following day to make sure things were working properly.  This is my first review but I was pleased and impressed with Ocean I felt I need to let people know.

Not having ac means a good ceiling fan is essential. I found one and John installed it. He also installed a TV hanging on the wall. He was on time, worked quickly and professionally. Set up the new TV as an added bonus.

The fan, unfortunately, did not work well. It was noisy and wobbly. That was NO fault of the installation, just a bad fan. I called John out and he came back and put up the new fan.

John from Ocean Electric is incredible.  He came out to give me an estimate on installing an outlet for our dryer.  He found a simpler way to do it and also caught a serious electrical problem with our appliance caused by the original installer.  He fixed it up and made sure it was working and safe before he left.  He jumped through a lot of hoops to make it right and did it without charging us an arm and a leg. He gave us an amazing deal and we won't use anybody but him for all our electrical needs in the future.  All around a great guy.

I've used John with ocean electric several times in the past and have always been happy with his work! I don't know if he is just too busy now, or into bigger projects, but I have been trying to get an estimate from him for several days now, and he just isn't responsive! It took several texts to get him to come talk to me about the job, and I was told I would have an estimate the next day, it's been several days now, and I have sent several messages, and received no estimate! My last message from him was that he apologized and would send it in a couple of hours, and it never happened. It's just disappointing when you feel you have a professional relationship with someone and they let you down like this. Unfortunately I'm in the market for a new electrician now!

Thought I needed a plumber because our water heater stopped working.  Well, they said it was an electrical problem but it was a weekend and finding an electrician would be difficult. I went to Yelp and the first person I called was...
Oceans Electric, John responded to me in less then 5 minutes and was at my house in 20 minutes, looking at the heater he knew exactly what was wrong. After working just 30 minutes the heater was working and hot water was flowing again.

These guys are GREAT!!!! I had a breaker go out in my office that powered my server.   I called several electricians and no one could help me that day but John said he would be there in 5 minutes.  His office was not even open, but he came in early when I needed him.

After assessing the situation, he was able to correctly diagnose the problem and fix it.  My server was up and running and I could resume my work. He is honest and professional.  I will be using Ocean Electric for all my electrical services going forward.

I must tell you, we recently did a remodel and have had nothing but nightmares all around; until John and his crew showed up. This job was not a small job and needless to say, I was stressed about it. When John and his crew showed up, the first thing out of his mouth was to not worry and he had this. I showed John what I wanted done and he got right to work. John was extremely honest and he told me upfront exactly what everything was going to cost, something up until that point was obsolete. He also gave me a ton of ideas on moving switches and outlets so that it would better suit me in the long run. On top of that, he also made sure that he was very precise when he installed anything. This was a pretty big job but John was there on time everyday and came prepared to work.

One of the biggest things that blew my mind was his time schedule. ALOT of companies offer 24/7 service but you never hear back from them or they tend to leave a job right at 5 pm. Not John! There were a couple nights towards the end of the job in which he and I were out till midnight trying to finish up the job so we could move on to other things.

If ANYONE needs any electrician work done, don't hesitate to call Ocean Electric. I know in the future, I will be calling them again!

Just wanted to thank Ocean Electric for their help. I had a crew of contractors in my house and they were using some machines. At one point the eletricity for the 2nd floor was cut off. I looked at the breaker box but all seemed fine. Gave a call to Ocean Electric, the guy was super nice, sent him photos of the breaker box and he guided me over the phone and solved the problem. The crew was able to get back to work immediately, and I was relieved. Really appreciate the help, I will definitely use Ocean Electric in the future.

John and his assistant came out to diagnose the issue working past normal business hours. After the diagnosis his team came back to complete the job which took several hours. We had an electrical outlet that been damaged when a night light shorted a couple of months back.  On Christmas Eve it started heating up due to the load on a nearby outlet.  I disconnected the outlet but that also left several other outlets without service.  

I called Ocean electric on the Monday after Christmas and John Perez came to my house within an hour.  He immediately diagnosed the poor wiring the had previously been installed and properly wired, grounded and upgraded the outlet.  I was impressed with his prompt response and the price was very reasonable.  I plan to use his services again in the near future for some upgrades to the wiring in our old house

After contacting John, he was at my house that evening to take a look, then back again the next day to install recessed lighting and some bathroom light fixtures. The job took him a couple days and he played very nice with the painters who were also in my home. All of my new lights look great and work perfectly. Overall, John was super friendly and very honest, plus he's a great electrician to boot. I would recommend him to my mom or best friend!

Man, what can I say about John and Ocean Electric? We had issues with intermittent power outages in our house, and we couldn't find what was wrong. I reached out to multiple electricians regarding my situation, and John was the most helpful. He showed up to my house on the same day that I asked for help, and diagnosed the problem. He was able to do the work in a timely and professional manor, and was able to drop some knowledge on me, regarding electricity and how things work the way they work in the house. He assured me that I won't have any issues anymore, and for some reason, if I did, he would come back the same day and make sure to fix the issue. Again, I don't know anything about electrical, but I was very confident in John as an electrician. I highly recommend Ocean Electric, and if any future issues come up, hopefully not, I will be sure to contact them again.

I needed someone to help me with the issue that I had with my circuit breakers the

Wow! Amazing service! We called at 5pm and expected to have an appointment the next day at the very soonest. He was at our home by 7pm (the same day) and fixed our pool timer issue. I am super happy I got John to fix a breaker that was acting up. He responded to my quote request asap and was honest from the start with his price quote. When an outlet melted in our kitchen, Ocean Electric came out promptly and fixed the problem at a reasonable cost.  They took the time to answer our many questions and to explain why the problem occurred and what we could do to prevent it happening again.  They also found a code violation in our electrical box and fixed it  with little additional cost.  We will definitely call them again for any future electrical work we need.

John was on a job nearby and arrived a couple hours later. Competent, professional and personable. His bill was very reasonable.  Highly recommend this company. I expect to use him again when we're ready to do some home lighting upgrades.

I can't express how awesome Ocean electric is! I was stuck with a small last minute electrical issue identified during an inspection and the owner went out of his way to run over to the house late afternoon at the last minute to fix the problem. Yesterday my breaker went out and left me without power to my range and microwave.  After one day I realized that I could not survive without these two appliances.  I checked yelp and found John from Ocean Electric.  He was on another job, but was very patient and courteous; he said he would come out by the end of his day.  I just had a great feeling about him over the phone, and I was not disappointed.  He came out on same day notice and changed my breaker and was very professional.  I highly recommend Ocean Electric, and I plan to call John for future work.

I had a problem with my pool pump and timer not running and after having a pool professional come out I was recommended to call an electrician. These guys came out the very next day and discovered one of my pool breakers went out. They were able to quickly fix the problem the following day! John was extremely helpful. I initially requested a quote through. I eventually needed them to come visually inspect my panel. The work and amount was very reasonable and even came with a two year warranty. I would say most people did not have a warranty past the standard year or none at all. John and his helper came out and had a quote including have sourced the parts within an hour if that. These guys were honest, efficient and told me what to look out for with potential second opinions. Thanks again! Spent the day in my attic fixing a lot of improper wiring and gave a reasonable price at the end.

I needed some traditional outlets upgraded to GFI in all my bathrooms. Called and they sent someone right out. I was impressed with the speed and the reasonable prices. I ask them for one additional thing and they did it for no extra charge. They were fast, efficient, and most importantly, they did the job right the first time! I don't need to call anyone else for my electrical needs now. I'm glad I found them!

We needed an emergency repair done after a tree came crashing down and hit our power line.  SDGE couldn't connect our power until the weather guard was repaired.  We called John and he agreed to do the job.  He said he would be here in 30 mins but arrived in 20.  Him and his team got right to work and had the repair done quickly.  Thanks to John's promptness we were able to have the power back on the same day.  John called that evening to check on us and to offer his generator if we were still without power.  Now that's impressive!  He goes above and beyond and truly cares about his customers.  We will be calling him back for all our electrical needs.  Thank you, John!

Called on a Monday morning to have new electrical outlet installed in garage for a freezer.  John Perez and his associate came out Monday afternoon.  Very professional, courteous, nice.  Great service and reasonable price.  John also diagnosed a broken GFCI outlet and replaced that too.  Can't beat it!

John worked on my kitchen, living room and wine cellar remodel over the past 6 months and he is awesome! He is meticulous with his work and helped bring many outlets and switches in my house up to code during this process. He uses state of the art equipment and products to give the best installation of lighting fixtures possible. He worked with me on ordering my light switches online to save me money. I got a great quote over the phone and gave him my address and thought we had set up a timeframe, but then crickets. Multiple voicemails went unanswered over the next week or so. Seems like most people are happy with the work that they got done, but the fact that we had spoken about price and approximate time of work and then nothing was a little frustrating.

Woohoo! is right!!  I found the guy to go to, for all my electrical needs.  John exudes honesty and is truly one of those nice guys that you enjoy interacting with.  I had a circuit in my house that for some mysterious reason decided to stop working!  John methodically started checking all the possibilities out and found the problem in what seemed to me no time.  I know that most of you would also like to know that he is very reasonable on his prices, just icing on the cake!  I already have another job in mind for him :-)  You ready John?

John was Brilliant!  Everything I could want from an electrician.  Came round promptly (the Saturday after Christmas) and fixed our breaker.  He also gave me lots of honest tips and guidance about other ideas / options to improve our panel down the line, should we want to, and gave us an honest reality check on what others had told us in the past.   Lots of electricians on here and Angies list advertise as 24/7 and they go to VM / don't call back or later call you and tell you they don't work weekends, but John returned my call after around 10 minutes and was around in less than an hour, with our problem fixed less than an hour and a half after the original call.  Would recommend / refer and use again in a heartbeat.  Great guy, amazing Service.

Highly recommend Ocean Electric.  I asked for a quote through Yelp and John responded within the hour and arrived an hour after that.  They had the best rates and did a great and timely job with our small electrical problem and left the place tidy.  He also helped with an additional issue that we hadn't planned for.  Absolutely satisfied.

My husband and I were very pleased to have found John! I called up Ocean Electric after reading other Yelp reviews, and he answered right away. He was very easygoing on the phone, was extremely knowledgeable, and was willing to come out the same evening (I called him after 5 pm and was not expecting someone to make it out until the next day!). He came out, was able to troubleshoot the problem, made a quick run to the hardware store, came back and had it all taken care of before we got the kids to bed. Our problem ended up being the outside front light fixture went bad and had literally fried itself, and was tripping a breaker in our house. While he was here, he also replaced some loose outlets and installed a GFI outlet in our Kitchen. His price was extremely fair. In addition to the quick and excellent service, John really seems like a great guy. He was honest, friendly, and down-to-earth. He even took a few minutes to reminisce with us about growing up in Santee. I'd recommend him to anyone, and I know who I will call next time! Very professional! A+

John and his crew are responsive, easy to work with and fairly priced. He come over to do repairs on several items and made it quite painless for me. All around great guy and enjoy working with him.

John is the absolute best! He is honest with his recommendations and doesn't try to upsell you or do things that aren't necessary. We've had him out to our place several times to install ceiling fans, fix our fuse box, and change all of our switches/outlets. He always gives reasonable quotes and even though we have had many complications along the way he never raised the price!
