We used New Light Electric to do a complete rewire of an older home in Long Beach in March of 2023. Jose and his team completed the job on time and it passed inspection perfectly.
But beyond that, Jose made sure that that the elderly owner was taken care of with minimal disruption of electrical service. They also installed new can lights in the living room with dimmers and a new heater in the bathroom which was way beyond the original scope of work. Jose even bought lunch for the owner!

Reached out to New Light initially for a panel upgrade as we had a very outdated/unsafe panel. Jose came by our home to check things out and answer our questions.
Jose, from the beginning, was very kind and explained to us the technical side as well as our options. We learned a lot from him. Jose was patient with us as we discussed our options and was always available for questions.
At the end, we went with a panel upgrade, removing overhead wires to the garage and placing underground, adding an exhaust fan to the bathroom, running to new circuits to major appliances, installing correct brackets/cieling fan mounting, and various other junction box improvements for safety. We believe they did a great job patching the areas that needed to be patched where the panel was changed.
While safety was our priority, we did have to consider prices while we were shopping around. Jose was what made us really want to choose New Light Electric, but his prices were an added bonus.
We feel safer in our home now. Would recommend them to anyone who needs major work as well as small projects. We truly feel like we found someone we always want us to help us with our electrical needs.

I just had new light Electric (Jose Castellanos, proprietor), do substantial amount of electrical work for me ( outdoor landscaping lights, motion lights, bathroom ceiling light with fan and heater, new upgraded electrical wall socket assembly and new dedicated line from bathroom to fuse box panel. I set an hour consultation for an estimate through New Light Electric's online system. The online system gave a specific start time (NOT an arrival window) and end time for this appointment and let me know the appointment would be with Jose Castellanos, who I now know is the owner of New Light Electric.
Almost 40 minutes after my appointment start time Jose still had not shown up, nor had he called. I then called him to cancel the appointment as I had another appointment happening at the scheduled conclusion of our appointment and would not have time to go through everything with Jose. When I called Jose fought with me on the phone about the cancellation, blaming the online system for having issues, saying he was unaware of the appointment; he even went so far to say he only got notice of the appointment while we were on the phone, asking when I made the appointment (it was 2 or 3 days before the scheduled appointment and I got the automatic notification from the system 24 hours in advance). He asked me if I wanted to reschedule and I said, No, thank you.
Jose apparently did not like this answer and got his team to begin texting me from the office after we got off the phone asking me to reschedule. I did not answer, because since Jose started to fight with me on the phone, I figured he was someone I was uninterested in working with.
My next appointment arrived and I was busy into that appointment time when there was a knock at my home door; much to my UNCOMFORTABLE surprise it was a very unprofessional Jose, acting like he should be there and I should let him in the house. He acted like he had the sudden realization that I was the one who cancelled with him about 25 minutes ago, then attempted to have an argument with me, saying he was only 3 minutes late, when he was an HOUR AND FIVE MINUTES LATE. He showed up at my house and tried to argue with me. I do NOT believe that Jose was mistaken and showed up to the wrong place, which was what he tried to play it off as (and would also be HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL!) and I do not believe I made the wrong decision of not working with Jose Castellanos or New Light Electric!
Full disclosure - I did not have actual electrical work done. My Aunt did and she raved about how good they were!
I spoke with Jose twice about a condo. Jose was full of knowledge and information concerning the electrical. He didn't stop me from buying it, but he gave me such detailed information I was able to make a very important decision based on the facts of a professional. Thanks José!

This business is amazing! Every staff member is knowledgeable and friendly. We were given a fair bid and time frame to complete the rewiring of our 1944 built home. The final price was within the range provided and they actually finished a couple days sooner! We love the work they did! The city inspection went flawlessly.

Jose (New Light Company) visited my house yesterday for a walk-through of the work I wanted done. He quickly provided a quote later that day and squeezed in the work the following day. The team arrived early to accommodate my schedule, arrived with masks, took extra care to prep spaces they worked in with drop cloths and hanging plastic sheets, swept areas after removing cloths/sheets, installed the components cleanly, and finished the job quickly. Very friendly crew. I enjoyed working with them very much. Best electrician I've dealt with hands down!

We hired New Light (Jose C.) to upgrade/replace an electrical panel from 60W to 200W. Work was done on time, communication was prompt by text and email. They also repaired some water damaged wall sections they discovered during the work. Candido and his team swept up after and left the patio clean. Overall, very professional and I'd hire again and have already recommended them to a neighbor. Their rates are competitive too, as we asked several places for an estimate.
If you want your electrical work done RIGHT these are your go-to professionals. Jose and his team arrived on time, wore masks and were respectful of my property, using drop cloths as needed. New Light Electric just finished installing 6 new Led can light modules and converted 15 - 6 inch can lights over to led modules. Arrived early this morning and 3 workers started on my job. Put down plastic tarp to protect my carpet and furniture. Installing the can lights was especially difficult because I have only inches of attic space. His crew did a fantastic job with minimal openings in the ceiling and wall to accomplish the job (they repaired the holes).

We recently purchased an original home. Jose and his team upgraded the electrical panel and completely rewired the house bringing it up to code. They were outstanding !!! Even the inspector said these guys are good. Jose was a real pleasure to deal with. His team showed up on time and went about their work in a very professional manner and were flexible with another contractor on site. Not many will do that. In specking the job, Jose was very helpful with lighting placement and use of various dimmer switches. We have already referred Jose to friends who need work done. And if I need any electrical work done in the future, he is the only guy I will be calling !!

I had a list of electrical jobs that I needed to have done, Jose set an appointment to come to the house in order to give me an estimate and was ON TIME! After receiving the estimate we set up a date and time for the job. Jose's crew were on the clock at the time we had arranged and did a fantastic job, which included cleaning up their messes. This isn't the first time I have had Jose do work for me. He was the third, and final, electrician I hired to do an electrical job at one of my rentals. The job had been botched by the previous two and was finally fixed by Jose's company.

We recently purchased our home and needed electrical services and after a few estimates and speaking to different electricians about upgrading to a new panel , we went with New Light Electric. We're soooo glad we did, they did an amazing job from beginning to end, they showed up on time, did everything in the time estimated which was also impressive because there was soo much to do and they did everything in a good amount of time, they covered everything possible no need to call a separate person to address patch work and so on, and communication was amazing ! I honestly can't say enough good things about Jose and his crew. We have a 1929 home which until this past week had the original wiring. His crew came in and were so professional and so respectful of our home while they were working. We couldn't move out, and we have a senior dog that is anxious with strangers in the home. They worked with us and helped us help our dog be more relaxed. They cleaned-up every evening and left the workspace clean. They patched our walls as they worked, so we never had holes in the walls at the end of the day. We had the home completely rewired, had the panel upgraded to a 200A system, with a sub panel installed in the garage, new security lights, and new Nest security cameras. All around, they were fantastic. The inspection passed the first time. Top notch company!
Jose and his crew were awesome, installed a new panel and upgraded multiple switches and outlets throughout our home. Jose and two of his electricians installed two new electric wall heaters, wiring and installation of a new 240v air conditioner and installed a new ceiling fan in my condo. I recently bought a house built in 1950, and therefore it had no grounded outlets and wiring that had the insulation cracking off. It also had some suspect, unpermitted electrical work that had been done in the past. Jose and his crew did a phenomenal job rewiring the house, installing a new panel, and some can ceiling lights. They kept the work areas neat and patched everything behind them. I would highly recommend New Light Electric.
Norm from New Light Electric did an awesome job for me for a very reasonable price for electrical work. He had to diagnose a loose neutral which is a very difficult problem in electrical work. Great Job! He is now my permanent go to for electrical work around the house.
I had a great experience with New Light Electric: I called Jose mid-morning about replacing an outside light fixture. He was able to send someone same day. He asked me what kind of fixture I had and what kind of fixture I wanted, and then he told me what to ask for at the hardware store. Danny showed up at 1:00 PM. He was quick and efficient - I ended up replacing two fixtures. I am pleased with the outcome.

Jose came out right away when we were in the middle of a home remodel needed a complete rewire. We hadn't planned for a total rewire originally, but with Jose's very fair price and the comfort of knowing the wiring would be completely safe (house built in 1919), we went for it. Con artists. Jose took $12K for a rewire and months later we still have many outlets not working and he won't come out to fix it. We will have to hire someone else and will be filing a complaint against his license.
Jose was able to come in right away when my electrician cancelled at the last minute.
He and his crew did a fantastic job with my lighting needs. They were extremely clean and very friendly. I would use them again and highly recommend Jose and New Light Electric for all your electrical needs.

Such an amazing team Jose is definitely the go-to in our community when we need any electrical or construction work done! I'm so happy he was able to fit me into their busy schedule on such short notice! He wasn't going to be able to squeeze us in till about a week after I called but he was kind and understanding enough to swing by and help us out when he heard we were in a bind and didn't know what to do! Jose & his crew did a great job on our residence. They put in a whole new electrical box and installed some outdoor outlets for us as well. The job ended up taking more time than they thought because they ran into some problems with our very old wiring. They stayed much longer than they expected to complete the job so they would not leave us without power overnight. Also, he did our job very quickly after we got the estimate.
Jose is great! He upgraded our service panel to 200 Amps, rewired our entire kitchen and installed recessed lighting throughout the house.
It started while our home was in escrow, he provided us a bid for electrical work on the house. Jose was prompt and got the bid back to us quickly. Anyone purchasing a new home can understand how important that was for us.
When the time came to finally get the work done he came by to finalize the contract and go over the work to be done. Over the phone and in person he's a very personable guy. Not pushy, not scketchy, just a cool guy.
On the day of our appointment him and his whole team were on time, they started bright and early. Just like Jose, his crew are great guys too. I work with contractors all the time, Jose and his crew made me feel confident the job would get done right.
Sure enough Jose came through with great electrical work and an awesome new service panel to boot.

Seems like a nice person, but doesn't return calls or messages. I had a really important need for an electrician and thought I would have one out last Friday. I spoke to him early Thursday evening and we were to speak later that day but he never returned my call or messages. Sent a message last night, called today still nothing. Oh well, found someone to do the assessment for 80% less than the quote I received here. I'm sure they do great work here, but their communication needs some work. If you can't take on a client just let them know, I lost unnecessary time thinking I had an electrician already set up. I needed a very important report before a court case and I lost a whole day because of the lack of communication.
I hired this company for some home work and I've got to say I was blown away! they are fast, efficent, and a pleasure to work with! definately will be going back!
Jose was wonderful. We recently had Central-Air installed and the installer told us our panel could handle the additional load. 2 months later, our panel wasn't handling the load. Jose made us feel like a priority and he could have easily sold us on upgrading to a brand new electrical panel but instead, he fixed our problem at a great rate and said in the future an upgraded electrical panel would be a good idea since you have a pretty big load on this old panel but this will get you up and running. How honest is that!? And we were shocked that he didn't charge us an arm and a leg for the repairs he made. Great rate, great service, great reasons to put his number in your cell phone like I did. Thank you Jose! You will DEFINITELY be hearing from us in the future, especially when we are ready for that new panel.

Jose gets the job done.
We had some knob and tube issues after getting the old rat infested insulation removed (a different company, things like that happen). Jose could not find it the first time (it was dark, it was late, but he tried) but came back with a couple of his guys and they found and fixed the damage done.
Friendly, professional, personable, and more than competent...excellent.
I work in the trades and am looking at having New Light Electric re-wire my entire 1920 Craftsman Bungalow. They were that good.
Edit: We did get the whole house re-wired and are totally happy with the work and professionalism ...good crew and conscientious...highly recommend and any wire jobs I can't do myself, I am calling on New Light Electric. 5 stars all the way.
I had 3 overhead lights suddenly go off in my house & was concerned how long it would take to find the problem and solve it - and what the cost might be. Danny diagnosed and solved the problem completely within a few hours and for a very reasonable rate. I can enthusiastically recommend this company!!!

My husband and I rewired our entire home with the intention of getting central a/c installed. We took the time to get bids from several electricians to compare costs and approach. Our #1 priority was long term safety. Other electricians suggested short cuts despite us telling them that we didn't want short cuts. Jose listened to us and was HONEST. He told us how we could short cut, but suggested otherwise. He explained his approach, taking the time to explain HOW he would do it and WHY.
The crew was on time every day. They were quick - the entire house took less than a week. Jose pulled the permits (less hassle for us).
My favorite part is that they took the time to cover every piece of furniture every day! If you've never had work done in your home this is probably an oversight. This is a small detail that you learn after the first experience. The dust was kept to a minimum and they patched up every hole they made. All these things are value added and worth every penny. I should mention that he's reasonably priced so the value add, was really valuable.
Through the process we mentioned that we intended on buying a new lighting fixture for the dining room. He told us to take our time and that he would come back (at no additional charge) to install the fixture. That's service!
Jose is the man!!! Had plugs out in all upstairs rooms...had a bad breaker which he fixed and all is well now. Very fair price quoted from the onset. Happy campers on our end . I highly recommend this company ..
I wish I could show you pictures of my newly renovated shower - these guys are amazing! After years of having an old and damaged tub and shower, my landlord finally agreed to fix it after an estimate from these guys. They worked extremely fast, yanking out the old tub and shower in one day and prepping for tile-setting. By the end of day 2, all of the tile was in place and the new tub was installed. The end of day 3 saw all of the tile grouted, and the seal placed around the tub. They came out early this morning (because we couldn't be here later) and set the faucets, let us know how long to wait, and were done.
I don't know exactly what all they do - but there work was fast and nice. The owner is very friendly and accommodating to schedules, as well as being totally honest about the amount of time everything would take. He and his employees were not only on time every day, but they were polite and clean - making sure they covered not just the areas they'd be walking on, but every surface in my living room during the demolition portion to protect our furniture and electronics. I would recommend them to anyone looking to get some remodeling done.
I had accumulated several small electrical problems over the years but was always afraid of what it would cost if I called an electrician. I couldn't believe my good fortune when Jose gave me his bid to do the repairs. Why did I wait so long?
