I found Mr. Speedy on Yelp. I had a plumbing problem on a Sunday and needed help over the weekend. They are open every day which I like because let's face it, plumbing problems don't always happen only from 9am to 5pm on weekdays. And weekends are the same price as weekdays. My previous plumber does not work on the weekends and another plumber I called was upset that I called on a Sunday. Mr. Speedy was the exact opposite, they were happy to help and sent someone out that day (speedy, indeed).  What a relief it was to find this company!

I have had Mr. Speedy do several different plumbing jobs for me and have been very satisfied with the work and the reasonable price. On larger jobs, the owner comes out to supervise and make sure everything is going well. He also picks up the phone when you call him and if he's not available will get back to you in a timely manner. Most importantly, I felt like this company cared and that makes all the difference.

Mr. Speedy is licensed and bonded, offers great customer service, is open every day, is reasonably priced, is reliable, clean and tidy, and always does a great job. I highly recommend them and would definitely hire them again.

I own an apt bldg and Fred (the owner) has always provided top notch service. His technicians are knowledgeable and always discuss what needs to be done in layman language.  My favorite tech is Randy.  Fred has addressed many issues that when fixed as recommended, has ended the merry-go-round of repeat problems.  

I believe you get what you pay for and this company has been worth the investment. They will be honest in their recommendations and you will pay a fair price for their service.

Well, Mr Speedy came to our rescue again!! We were leaving for Mexico in the morning and discovered that we had a busted pipe leaking raw sewage under our house. We immediately call Mr Speedy and talk to Fred because we're freaking out. Fred explains what needs to be done with abatement and right after that they will be at our house, so go to Mexico. Well, we return and true to his word Antonio is at our house by 9am and the abatement team is at our house by 1:30pm. The next day Fred comes with his team to make sure we get the most professional job done and he explains to us what they will do and how much it will cost. We are so impressed with the level of service and how fair we were treated. I'm sure most of you reading this know how frighting it is to have to call a plumber and we have a 100 year old home but just call Mr. Speedy!!!

Our front lawn pipes bursted in the morning without our notice. I was calling around 7:40 in the morning and Mr. Speedy had a great response time saying they could get to my house by 9am! Juan Madero came to our door and really helped us out fixing the sprinkler pipes and one of the sprinklers that was broken as well! I highly recommend Mr. Speedy plumbing true to there name very speedy indeed and ask for Juan!!!!

Excellent fast service! We had a clogged garbage disposal that was quickly becoming a messy problem. I frantically called and was able to have a technician come out first thing in the morning. Amazing, kind service and very reasonably priced.

Was told that a partially clogged drain would require going to the apartment beneath mine and investigating, and that it couldnt be snaked. Was charged for the on-site visit and consultation. After coordination with my neighbor, I called another company and they were able to snake the drain, didn't need to visit the apartment beneath mine. Everything now works perfectly.

We had a leaky sink and a toilet that stopped flushing. GAVIK came and quickly identified the problem. Fixed both within 30 minutes. He made sure to show me his work and that he fixed both issues before he left. Bonus for leaving his shoes at the door without being asked. 100% recommend this company!

TRUST - when it comes to your house, that's the only word that matters. Let me explain why I trust these guys, with a summary of two interactions. [Long story short, I reached out to plumbers 7 times, and only twice did I get an honest inspection. Both times, it was Mr. Speedy.]

1. A few months ago, we smelled a gas leak coming from the rear exterior of the house. In a panic, we dialed 4 different plumbers to get quotes for an urgent inspection. Gas line inspections are not cheap, all but one quoted me several hundred dollars. Freddy at Mr. Speedy asked me a few questions and was the only one that said for my specific issue, I should call SoCal Gas cause they'll inspect it for free. Freddy was the only one that recommended I call the gas company. Sure enough, SoCal Gas agreed and said the specific issue I had was their responsibility. They came out, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it, for free.

2. We've had problems with our second floor shower for years, and this month we decided to spend the money, whatever it takes, to finally fix the problem once and for all. We called 3 plumbers for estimates and two of them said we need to break all the tile and replace the entire shower. The only one that gave me a thorough/accurate estimate was Mr. Speedy. Juan and Randy came out, inspected the shower, as well as the piping underneath the house and realized the root cause was an old/damaged pipe underneath the house. They explained that replacing/re-tiling my entire shower would be a temporary fix, I could just replace the shower valve and the remaining money is better spent fixing the root cause, underneath the house. They took photos to show/explain the problem and brought out their specialists, Edwardo, Angel, and Carlos to fix the pipes. Edwardo took additional photos so I could see the before and after, the shower works great now, and ultimately, I spent less than the two other plumbers quoted me.

This company gets my absolute highest recommendation and without question will now be my immediate call for ANY plumbing issues.

When a blockage in the pipes caused sewage to start coming up in the bathtub of our guest house, Gavik arrived within 45 minutes of our phone call. He was incredibly kind and efficient. He explained his work every step of the way, making every effort to avoid removing the toilet to reach the blockage, in order to save us significant money.

In the end, he had to call Randy (the owner?) who arrived with a larger machine. Together they were able to clear what ended up being roots in the pipes from outside the house. Gavik was meticulous about cleaning up the mess that had been caused by the blockage and I was honestly stunned that I wasn't charged any extra for all the time it ended up taking them to resolve the issue. They also left me with specific instructions regarding steps we could take to keep the pipes clear to try to avoid large future expenses.

I'm just so impressed with the quality and service provided. Gavik made a fairly horrible situation completely tolerable and I'm truly grateful!

Mr Speedy is great. What's amazing is when you have an issue, they can often come the same day. All Fred's plumbers are really nice and very good. Fred, the owner is a doll and his prices are fair. He's done a lot big jobs and small.

Wow. I have to say I'm impressed. I decided yesterday that I was able to replace a bathroom sink faucet...well, that didn't quite work out. This morning, after looking at what must have been 100 reviews on Yelp, I called Mr. Speedy Plumbing and spoke with Fred. He said he could have a plumber out today to resolve the issue.

Randy arrived early, got in there and fixed the issue in a very short time.

I have used Mr. Speedy (Fred) before with good results.

Yesterday, a plumbing emergency occurred at our home.  Called Fred who answered phone immediately (no please press blah blah for this, that) and had Juan arrive within two hours flat.

Juan's work, as well as Fred's responsiveness was above and beyond.

The charges were completely reasonable and I give this company my highest recommendation.

Frank has been a pleasure to work with for our building in regards to HOA related plumbing issues. We had some miscommunication issues early on with one of his workers, Randy, but he stepped in corrected everything. This is by far the BEST plumbing company. Recently I had construction work done to my place, when the landlord sent his plumber over the guy turned our water off to fix a sink, when he turned the water on we no longer had hot water in our shower anymore. For two months I've been taking cold showers. The original plumber we had for our place couldn't fix the problem he created. I've used Mr Speedy in the past for clogs and liked their service so I gave them a try. I am so glad I did. Paul came over, looked at the problem, told us what he thinks it could be, and he was right. Fixed the problem within an hour. He's so knowledgeable and worked so quickly. My only regret is I wish I called them a month ago. But Paul is awesome he did a great job. Professional and efficient

Wow! This was such a great experience! My shower has been problematic for months and nothing seemed to fix it. Yesterday I called Mr. Speedy Plumbing and they were there within an hour to fix it. I needed to have a new toilet installed on very short notice. I'd called Mr. Speedy Plumbing a few months prior to attempt to fix my toilet. The plumber who came back then was honest with me, and told me it wasn't worth fixing. I took my time shopping around, then needed to rush to get it installed once it arrived. I'd called to set up an appointment about 24hrs in advance, we had a small communication mishap in confirming my appointment, but Fred came through for me and delivered plumbers to install my new toilet exactly when he said they'd arrive.

Two guys came and set it up and hauled the old one away without any problems. I did pay slightly more than my usual plumber would have charged me, however given the fact that I needed someone basically immediately, I wasn't upset about it.

I'd call them again, both times I've called Mr. Speedy, plumbers came out to me very quickly and I found them easy to work with. No complaints here.

I called them on a Sunday afternoon because my wife notice a leak coming from our ceiling in our kitchen. We were sure where the leak was coming from.  Manny from Mr. plumbing was at our house within 45 min. He determined that the leak came from a broken flange from our guest room upstairs. He was able to fix the problem at a low coast! These guys are awesome!

Mr Speedy was great! I had to replace a few valves to install a new washer and dryer. The first plumber I had came and said he was going to have to open my wall up and it would cost at least 1800.

 David from Mr Speedy came and replaced my valves no problem. Only cost me a little over 200. David was on time and super friendly and did a great job!

Kind of expensive for the work they performed. Also they came to fix one problem and left a different problem. I called to schedule a service and inquire for pricing for the new problem and they said they would have a plumber call me back; however, they did not. Really frustrating to say the least.

Mr. Speedy Plumbing certainly lives up to its name, they offered to be at my place within an hour. My schedule was such that I was not available until the following morning, and Gavik did a fantastic job! I needed a new garbage disposal, and upon analysis he went to home depot to find the 3/4 horsepower one that was best for my situation. I needed some additional work with my  clogged drain pipes and dishwasher hook-up; luckily, he was able to fix everything with this one visit. It was a thorough, professional, great job!

We had 3 plumbers from different companies come try and fix our kitchen sink before the guys at Mr Speedy were finally able to get it done! This was a nightmare of a problem and the suggested course of action was to start opening up walls and change the pipes... So grateful I called up Mr Speedy - I'm not sure how they did it but they fixed it and actually made it better (by tightening the faucet and having it move lighter). The kitchen sink runs flawlessly and we are finally able to utilize it again. Super professional and genuinely trying to help. They arrived sharp on time and did it quick, I honestly couldn't recommend them enough!

So speedy, friendly, and HONEST!

Several months ago, we called Mr. Speedy to fix a clogged drain in our kitchen. He came out ASAP, fixed it, and said, This kind of clog always happens in kitchen sinks. It's really easy to fix - let me show you how to do it so you don't have to keep paying me for a service call.

Cut to last night. Our kitchen sink clogged up again, so I went out this morning and FIXED IT MYSELF!  

Mr. Speedy is now officially our go-to plumber for all plumbing-related issues.

Frank has been very helpful in accommodating our schedules and getting the works done efficiently.  The property had issues with the roots from plants getting in the way of the pipelines.  With 1 or 2 hours of hydrojetting, the issues are gone now.  Frank not only helped with the hydrojetting work, but also assisted in the cleaning process, after having learned that the cleaning ladies had issues with the stench.

Incredible, incredible service!

Like forreal though!

My biggest concern with an place I choose to do business with, above all else is customer service. And Speedy Plumber has displays a great quality of efficiency when dealing with clients (such as myself).

I called on a Monday to have three issues delt with:

* Boss dropped sunglasses in the toilet (don't ask)

* Hot water faucet in bathroom not working

* 2nd bathroom had running water issues

The rep on the phone told me that because I called last minute for same day service she could fit me in on the schedule between 3pm-5pm. I would be in a meeting during this time so I told her to reschedule for Tuesday morning. She politely obliged me and told me to expect a technician between 8am-10am.

Tuesday, at about 9:45am I receive a call from Rafael, my technician who was running a bit late and wanted to let me know he was on his way after taking care of an emergency.

I didn't trip. I appreciated the call and notification for his delay. He arrived at about 10:30, not bad at all.

In less than 30 minutes Rafael and his assistant Tony were able to knock out EVERY LAST issue I was having with my bathrooms out!

* Properly operating toilets
* Sink with an overflowing amount of hot agua

Oh yeah, and first time custies get a 15% discount on the entire bill.

Mr Speedy responded quickly and dealt effectively with a pretty tough emergency plumbing issue that required a fast fix and some follow up work -- drywall, etc. was all top notch. Pricing was fair and they were also helpful and responsive in helping deal with my insurance company. Two thumbs up!

I needed them to come out and hydrojet my area drains and initially they had a few small snafus but they did a great job and made sure I was pleased with the job they did.  They showed up wearing masks, as safety is very important right now.  They were punctual and polite.  Can't say enough about the job they did.  Would definitely call them again

I would recommend this company.  I had a leak from the upstairs bathroom, leaking to the kitchen below.

They sent a plumber the same day to look at the problem. It was bigger than originally anticipated so same plumber came out the next day to fix the problem. He was on time, professional, competent and very friendly.  

The price was fair as well. So hopefully, I won't have any more problems with any more plumbing issues for awhile but if I do, I will definitely call this company.

Very easy company to work with from beginning to end. Scheduled the appointment and Randy was there on time ready to fix the leaky knobs in the shower. He was professional and personable, and fixed the leak very quickly. I have used Mr. Speedy Plumbing a few times and they always do an excellent job! Had Manny help me out with a toilet repair for flushing issues. It took one hour and everything was solved. Manny figured out on his own which pipes to properly shutoff and knew what he was doing pretty well. Would hire again.

Valentine's Day weekend and the sinks are clogged at my job. Called literally 15 different places and everyone was booked.  Exasperated and frustrated, I called Mr. Speedy and they were able to help me out. Yay! They came within a few hours and their tech, Kevion, worked quickly and efficiently. He was also SO pleasant as were the people who helped and took the payment for me over the phone.

I was initially going to post a negative review about an overcharge here.  The person who serviced my toilet was quick, quiet, and polite.  However I was charged more than I expected.  Within a few short moments, I got a call from the company owner, Fred, who offered a full refund for the mistake.

A piece of jewelry fell down the drain on super bowl day. I was super stressed out since I though it was going to be nearly impossible to get a plumber.. Calling Mr. Speedy Plumber was the best decision I made about the clogged and flooding shower issue I was having. The service could not have been easier and more friendly. The communication between the plumber and myself was great and up to date. The plumber who came out was super friendly and helpful. He managed to fix the issue within 15 minutes. Amazing! I had an emergency, a broken hot water valve in the shower, and my usual plumber couldn't get here until the next day, with water spewing everywhere, and I was unable to get the streetside handle to budge. Fortunately, there guys were able to get a guy here in a half hour. He replaced the valve and didn't gouge me for it. Friendly and professional, I would use them again in a heartbeat

THANK YOU again to the team at Mr. Speedy. This was their fourth time out at our place.. old houses = old pipes = lots of plumbing issues. We had previously called Mr Speedy a few times out for hydrojetting, because our water would not drain. It lasts over a year, but ur old clay pipes were too cracked and full of ficus roots, so finally gave in and bust.

When I called with our emergency, Fred came out the same day, and gave us a very, very reasonable quote.. He showed us on the camera where the problem was, and gave us a temporary solve so we could still use water. We agreed to finally have new pipes run, and the front yard most likely would need to be excavated. After slowly taking apart our landscaping (saving stones, moving plants aside) and manually digging, they came up with a better solution, and didn't need to dig up the entire yard. They did use the excavator to dig a 7ft hole at the the end of our lawn, but other than that they saved most of our lawn. YAY! The job was done in 2 days, and they replaced our plants and landscaping back over the pipes.

It's extremely difficult finding plumbers and electricians that you can trust. Not only was Gavik and David friendly and knowledgeable . They really seemed to care about getting my Problem fixed quick and efficient as possible. A next door neighbor reported  the smell of Gas and the Gas company came and tested out pipes in and around my house. They found out that there were both city issues that had to be fixed and also internal pipes in my house that I was responsible for. Getting estimates from many other companies , this was by far the most reasonable and fair. If I ever have any other issues Mr Speedy Plumbing is going to be first company contacted for sure!

After waking up on a Saturday morning to a sink that wouldn't drain and a disposal that wouldn't work, I found Mr. Speedy via a google search.  I was afraid I wouldn't find anyone to come out on a Saturday, but it listed their hours as open until 10pm! The website was very thorough and impressive and the person I spoke with when I called was very friendly. We set an appointment for the afternoon (between 4-6). I got a call from the plumber at 2:30 asking if I wanted him to come any earlier, as he was in the neighborhood. David was friendly, professional, and was able to fix the problem in a matter of minutes! What I thought would be a headache turned out to be easily remedied and done with a smile! I would have paid a lot to have this fixed, as I can't live without a working kitchen sink - but it was only a $59 charge! I won't hesitate to call Mr. Speedy again for any plumbing needs!

Speedy Plumbing came to install a new water heater and they were great! I scheduled on a Friday, they came on Monday at the agreed upon time and were done within an hour. No fuss, mess, and the workers were great. I have relied on them in the past for stoppages, water line problems, water filter for the sink, and other plumbing tasks. They are indeed the best in the area and I will only use them for major problems. Fred, the owner is great and most importantly, they are honest I also have AHS but you never know who you get.

I learned my lesson early. I really rely on Yelp and check the reviews diligently. Hope this helps...you can't go wrong.

Speedy is definitely the name for this plumber.  Our office sink was leaking from the garbage disposal.  I called at 9am, they said they would have someone there by about 4pm.  David called me about an hour later to discuss the issue so he was well prepared when he arrived.  I got a text message round 1:30pm that he should be arriving within the next hour.  He arrived and immediately set to work, fixing the problem within an hour.  New garbage disposal and sink faucet was the cure.  The cost was great, about 25% less that a quote from another plumber the day prior who didn't have the supplies needed and couldn't get back to me to do the repair for 3 days.  If you have any plumbing issues call Mr. Speedy - they are amazing.

I had a sewer gas problem. I found these guys on yelp.

Speedy came over and put a camera down the pipes, seemed to figure out a lot that way. There was an issue with how the pipes were attached so they put some glue in between the pipes.

It took less than an hour, and they charged me $750. In their defense they did wait outside for 30+ minutes so maybe they charged me for that. Still 750 is pretty steep.

A few weeks later, I still have sewer gas. They did tell me the first try was not guaranteed, and it might need more work. It could turn into a major job. However, I am hesitant to call them back because if a half hour is $750 I sure don't want them working on a big job. Scary prices with these guys.

They do seem more competent than most plumbers.

Update- they are coming back tomorrow and seem to be willing to fix it for no charge. We will see. It's very hard to pin these guys down to a price until the work is done and it's too late. They refuse to talk about hourly rates.

EDIT- I upped this review from 2 stars to 3 stars. After meeting with them in person and talking for a long time, here's what I can tell you:

These guys are ABOVE AVERAGE. However their prices are quite high. I don't think they are the rock stars of the plumbing world. I'd pay these prices if they were the best of the best like they say they are, but they are not elite at what they do.

I've gotten conflicting statements from them such as
that will fix your problem for sure vs we can't be sure what will fix it, it's trial and error.

In the 2nd visit they were ready to leave 3 or 4 times without ever getting to the bottom of the problem. They give up too easy on diagnosing. They had not checked pipes in the attic or under the house in the crawl space yet, and they were ready to hit the road saying I don't know what else to tell ya. I continued to question them and question them in order for them to check the attic and crawl space. They seemed to think let's just say whatever we have to say in order to get out of here and keep the $750 we charged him last time.

Also, as I said earlier they are a bit slippery and refuse to quote a hourly rate. Well this time I got it- $118 per hour per guy. Even the assistant guy gets $118.

I have a small amount of knowledge on plumbing from re-modeling houses, and was able to use that to get these guys to make a more solid attempt at diagnosing the issue. the average person would not have this knowledge and so I would not recommend these guys for complex problems. Also, the average person might not crawl around in the foundation and attic like I did. I had to go in along side these guys because their vibe was a bit lazy. They give up too easy.

If you have a basic job these guys would be fine, but expensive. They are reliable and they show up on time. If it's a hard job, they are not the top of the line plumbers you're looking for.

These guys called me up after they read this review and said I'm furious about the review. Another interesting quote was I'm very disappointed in you Casey which is something you might say to a 10 year old, not a customer who gave you $750 for an hour or 2 of work.

The guy who called was pretty confrontational. Maybe Speedy thinks they can bully customers into taking down negative reviews.

In any event, it's poor customer service. When someone gives you a 3 star review, it's not something to be furious or confrontational about. Calling about a review AT ALL is not cool. If you're gonna call, call to fix and issue or give a refund.

Anyway, I'm done with these guys. They charged me 750 to put a camera down a pipe and then put glue on it. They did a half-ass job of diagnosis. Then they got confrontational with me about this review, which I think is pretty fair overall. I'm not bashing them or making any personal attacks, I'm just telling you their skill level is above average once they know the issue, and their prices are sky high.

But if you're in the mood for a plumber who tries to overcharge you and intimidate you, call Mr. Speedy.

I cannot recommend this company more.

Our hot water boiler broke down over the long holiday weekend (of course) and Randy was so quick to respond and efficient.

Not only did he organized the hassle free replacement of our boiler with the original supplier, he went to pick it up for us, installed it within a few hours (despite some unexpected model changes) and took the old one away, no tidy up required!

He was professional, sympathetic and trustworthy, I wont be using anyone else for my plumbing in LA. Thank you so much Randy!

What can I say? The reviews speak for themselves. These guys are outstanding. Had a shower drain blockage and shopped around various plumbers. Everyone had a week waiting time, but Mr. Speedy plumbing saw me within 24 hours. Speaking with Frank on the phone, he was courteous and very helpful, really putting me at ease. But i reserve special praise for my technician Gavik. He was right on time as promised and took care of the problem in an efficient manner. His friendly demeanour and service were amazing! Bottom line, can't recommend these guys enough for price, service, and response time!

GREAT experience -- from start to finish. Called very last minute hoping to have my bathroom sink unclogged TODAY. The lady I spoke with on the phone was very helpful and couldn't have been sweeter. She said she would squeeze me into the 4-6:00 window. HALLELUJAH!
Tony arrived right around 4, which was just a plus. We chatted a bit -- what a nice guy! He took no time to fix my sink, which was of course clogged with hair. Oops :x

These guys are the REAL deal....MD came and left, leaving out bathroom sink worse off then when they arrived.  While we weren't charged we were left with terrible options (cutting out the pipe-tearing out a wall or trying to snake the clog from the air vent on our roof).

I called Mr. Speedy plumbing (who did a small job for us a few weeks ago) and they sent the team of Raphael & Adam (same day within two hours of my call).  After a great conversation with Fred(owner?) he set up a plan to help un clog our old old bathroom sink.

I prepped for the worst but was blown away that on his first try snaking our drain cleared the clog and that was it....sorry for the anti climactic story but it was as simple as that.

Friendly efficient plumbers, fair prices and good business...Thank You!

These guys are not only Speedy, but very professional. I had a pretty negative experience with another well-reviewed service on Yelp who kept on pushing back times and delaying when they would come, and not even getting to the bottom of my Plumbing problem. I scheduled an appointment at his request to rectify the problem with a different plumber. WOW... I learned more about plumbing in the past 3 days then I ever thought I would need to...

Long story short - the valve on our water main broke recently and the high pressure messed up our hot water heater.

We found MR Speedy here on Yelp and gave them a call. Day 1, Dean came out and fixed the valve. He was here for about 2 hours and was just an all around awesome guy. Super smart and did a great job.

The next day, Greg came out to replace the hot water heater and he too was a super smart awesome guy.

I spent the whole time asking questions and chatting with them. They were friendly, polite, and my dogs loved them. The work they did was superb and they make it very clear that they are safety oriented and ensure everything is done to code.

I will never, ever use another plumber. A great plumber is hard to find and it's clear that whoever is hiring for MR Speedy is doing an amazing job because the two plumbers we worked with were outstanding.

Lately I've been having problems with roots clogging up my septic system. I tried snaking it a few times but those suckers are persistent. I decided to bite the bullet and pay for hydro jetting because that was the only thing that helped my neighbor. He recommended Mr. Speedy Plumbing. I called this company last-minute after a competitor, who I'd made an appointment with the day before, decided last-minute that they needed off-street parking for their oversize truck (something they should have known when I made the appointment). So, in frustration, I called Mr. Speedy Plumbing. When was the last time you called a plumber (or any home repair service for that matter) and they said, I'm going to save you $200, you can just do that yourself -- it's easy?  

I had just purchased a brand, spanking new fridge with all the bells and whistles and couldn't wait to use it.   I was already dreaming of that first cold beer, when the when the delivery guy woke me up and said, We just deliver the thing, you need to call a plumber to install the water line. So I called Mr Speedy Plumbing and spoke with Fred who made my day.  Three minutes after speaking with him, the water dispenser on the fridge was pouring out cold water and the ice maker starting making ice.  By the time I finish this review, my beer should be cold!

One of the best people in the business. I called this morning because of a clogged sink, and they were very courteous and understanding. Joseph was at my house in an hour. Very professional, polite, and clean. He quickly figured out the problem, and explained to us in details what he will do and what to expect. He was done in an hour, and all is perfect. I'm not one to write a review, but in this case, both Mr. Speedy and especially Gavik deserve a review 10 times over.  I have a strange home (it's a corner lot) where the small house behind ours shares our main sewer line.  They did some strange things back in the 1920's.  On Saturday afternoon I saw my neighbor and she had her plumber over as her main line was clogged.  I knew instantly that if she was clogged up, so were we.  And upon checking my clean out, I wasn't surprised to see my main sewer line also backed up.  My neighbor already had her plumber out so I knew when he got the blockage cleaned out, our home would be just fine.  Well, my neighbors plumber couldn't get through whatever was clogging the line and he was going to come back on Monday (it was Saturday at 2pm).  So I called Mr. Speedy who I have used before and always been happy with their service.  I didn't think I'd get an appointment until Monday but to my surprise, I got an appointment for Sunday morning.  Gavik came out (he's so great) and had the line opened in less than 10 minutes.  As soon as our main line was cleared I checked with my neighbor and of course her line was also now wide open (confirming what we have thought for years) that our main sewer line is shared.  Gavik showed me what he took out of the sewer line and I thought for sure it would be roots from my huge trees, but it wasn't roots.  My neighbor who I share the sewer line with had put plastic gloves (the kind nurses use) and hair extensions down her toilet.  I still can't believe what Gavik pulled out of that sewer.  

If you need a GREAT plumber, call Mr. Speedy and ask them to send Gavik.  You'll be in great hands with an honest plumber.

PEOPLE OF YELP - HIRE THESE GUYS!

Like most people, I was wary to hire what could be potentially expensive and time-consuming services like plumbers. Being new to the area and with no hot water in my shower, I had to result to yelp rather than waste time asking multiple friends for recommendations.

AND I'M SO GLAD I HIRED THESE GUYS!

They identified and fixed the problem in LESS THAN AN HOUR! They were on time, friendly, and efficient.

Not to mention the owner seems like a really nice guy who has cost effective solutions in mind. We had a friendly initial conversation in which he warned me to stay away from certain local hardware stores for my own home improvement projects that mark up prices a million times.

Ok, so, I have used yelp for years and never bothered to sign up for an account until today.  I had to sign up today because I had the BEST plumber experience today.

To preface, last year we had a leak in the ceiling that soaked through the drywall and dripped down to the rug and sofa below.  We called a plumber and he spent a week ripping out the whole ceiling and replacing TONS of pipes.  Between the ceiling and the plumbing repair, it was almost 3k.  Depressing, but I decided that just comes with the territory of old houses.  

A month later, I hear the same dripping sound - - in the exact same spot.  My entire family thought I was crazy and hearing things so I ignored it, and I ignored it, and I ignored it until one night I decided to get a ladder and feel the ceiling just to be certain it wasn't wet and, what do you know, my hand went right through the dry wall.  

Since then I have had three different plumbers come out.  We've had a sink replaced, we've had a pipe replaced.  We even had our water filter system replaced, but the leak kept on keeping on.  

Today, a plumber told us that all of the pipes connected to the washing machine needed to be ripped out and replaced.  Everyone was on board except me.  It just didn't make sense.  The dripping was so sporadic, and really not a drip, more like a squirting - like an artery.  

I did some yelp research and called Mr. Speedy.  The woman who answered the phone really listened and sent someone out right away.  If I'm going to spend another 1k on this leak, I'm going to get another opinion...

So Adam arrives.  He's young, smart and really nice.  Unlike all the other plumbers who talked over me and treated me like a dumb girl, he really listened to what I had to say and was eager to trouble shoot the problem.  He went upstairs and downstairs and tapped on the floor and on the ceiling.  He went into the crawl space and looked around.   After about ten minutes of investigation, he discovered that there is a crack in the floor behind the upstairs fridge and that when the fridge runs through some cycle, likely the ice production cycle, it leaks water through the tiny crack and when it bottlenecks, ends up squirting out of my ceiling.

It is a crack in the floor that water spills through.  ALMOST FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS IN UNNECESSARY PLUMBING REPAIRS LATER.  I wish I had called Adam and Mr. Speedy plumbing last year, but alas, I made the epic mistake of using my mom's plumber.  NEVER AGAIN!!!  

Adam was so honest.  He knew I would have done anything to fix the leak but instead of trying to sell me on some expensive repair, he pulled out a tube of caulking and fixed the crack in the floor.  The fridge is another issue... but I'm so relieved to know that my floorboards will not be rotting anymore.  No more ruined ceilings, no more expensive plumbing fixes, no more being bullied and lied to.  

Adam was so great!!!  I will call him for everything from now on!!

Not very honest!

Detailed review:

I called Fred Marzouk to get a quote for installation of a water heater. I mentioned that (1) I would need a gas sediment trap (the Gas Company had advised me that I should get this) and (2) there are steps up to the house.  I recommended that Mr. Marzouk come out to look at the job before giving me a quote, but he said that this was unnecessary and gave me a figure over the phone.

I had expected him to do the job himself, but he sent two other people from Mr. Speedy Plumbing. After the work was completed, I was presented an invoice that showed a price roughly 25 percent higher than the original quote. Given that nothing unexpected occurred during the installation, this is simply not right.  The installer should have informed me of the price increase before starting the job.

On inspecting the work, I noticed that there was no gas line sediment filter and pointed this out.  Fred told me that there is a gas line sediment filter internal to the water heater. I called the manufacturer, Rheem, at 800-432-8373 and spoke to Louis (X 350). Louis confirmed that the unit does not have a builtin gas line sediment filter, and said that he has never heard of such a thing. The installation checklist in the manual indicates that an external gas line sediment filter is required.  You must have this to prevent damage to the burners.

Mr. Speedy Plumbing did eventually install the gas line sediment filter, but not without much unpleasantness.  I will not use them again.

Great service and friendly plumbers.  They accommodated my schedule and seemed very knowledgeable.  I called on a Saturday morning and needed them to come after 6:30pm to fix my kitchen sink.  They were at my door at 7:45pm and out a little after 8.  My sink works great now.  They left the floor pretty dirty but that's not a big deal.

Let me start by saying I did not get to experience their plumbing expertise so they may be the greatest plumber on earth but this is based on my experience with them today.  Sunday morning, my tenant called with a bathroom sink not draining.  Called Speedy at 10am and asked if someone can come out.  They said they can between 3-5pm.  Trusted this info and made sure to be home and worked my day around that schedule.  Come 5pm, no one showed so I call their office, they dispatch the plumber and the plumber calls me to tell me he can't make it today and can he come in the morning.  Granted it's not life and death situation, I could have hired another company if they would have told me there is even a slightest chance they would not make it out today and even if something came up, certainly they knew by 4:30pm or so that they wouldn't make it so they could have called me first instead of letting the time pass and waited for me to call.  A very frustrated possible customer.  Just wanted to note it so if there are enough reviews of similar situation, people know to expect it at the least.

I called Speedy because it was close to where I live and because of the good reviews. I had a leak on the connector of the hot water to my washing machine. It was dripping pretty fast when I called them that evening.  It was almost closing time, so we agreed it would be fine to come the next morning. Adam showed up on time. I called Mr Speedy at 7:30am and received a call-back from Fred, the owner. He wasn't even at work yet, but returned my call in ten minutes. He asked all about my situation. He was personable and respectful. He scheduled me a visit for the same morning, saying someone would be to my house between 9am - 11am. Sure enough, Dean came well before 11am and checked everything out.

Dean worked quickly, explained what was going on with my kitchen disposal, and also with my tub and shower drains.

I live in West Hollywood and I needed a plumber ASAP with an overflow in the bathroom. It was not pretty. I called 2 places that tried to schedule me for the next day. I'm a HUGE advocate of spreading the word when it comes to good customer service because it's pretty rare these days. Mr. Speedy Plumbing certainly lives up to its name. Mike (the Plumber) got here soon after I made the appointment to fix my shower. He was extremely kind and most professional. He has a commendable demeanor and the kind of smile that lights up a room -- which was most appreciated on such a gloomy, rainy day! The added perk? Mike fixed the problem in no time at all! I'd even told him, This was the quickest, most efficient plumbing service I've ever had! WOW! what great service from beginning to end. After coming home to a clogged sink that had water back flow, I decided to yelp a bunch of different people who could come in on a Saturday or Sunday since I travel for work during the week. Luckily, Mr. Speedy Plumbing was able to come out on a Sunday morning with an estimated two hour window of arrival, which is typical for plumbing in LA considering the horrible traffic in the area. When Tony arrived he was great and got the job done in under an hour. That's what I'm talking about quick, efficient and cost-effective. Most other places estimated over $200 just to unclog my sink but Tony gave me a very good rate. He was also a great person to get to know; just thoughtful, nice and easy to talk to. If you want great service, don't hesitate to call Mr. Speedy Plumbing and if possible ask for Tony, he's awesome, I could've literally hung out with him all day, no problem. =)
