I had a very complex situation of installing an EV charge in my garage, which is detached from my house, but there is an existing underground conduit between my house and garage. Most electricians said they were not willing to do the job, or said it was impossible. However, Mejia electric assured me that it could be done. They were responsive to my messages and if I brought up any concerns they addressed it willingly. When the day came to do the work, everything went very smoothly. They also came by when the inspector from the city came to do the inspection and made sure everything was up to code.

I am incredibly happy that I now have an EV charger in my garage! Its been a few months since they have done the work, and there have been no issues. Overall, working with Mejia electric was a real pleasure and I would highly recommend them.

Jesus is the owner and was very responsive with our concern. Originally when I reached out to Jesus, it was regarding the breaker box and the switcher making a buzzing sound.

I reached out via Yelp message on a Friday evening and he was very quick to respond. We scheduled for Jesus to come out on Monday for a free estimate.

After my husband researched the issue, he found that there were grounding issues coming from the actual switch box. The last contractor we hired used a metal box which caused grounding issues that led to electrical overload. So, when Jesus arrived on Monday, we explained our findings and asked if he could replace the metal box with a plastic box to reduce the grounding from happening again. Jesus gave us an estimate of $180 and given that he was already onsite, we agreed for work to be completed.

Jesus was quick and efficient, but the only downside is that he doesn't do any drywall work, so we'll have to repatch the drywall ourselves since there was a new cut out for the plastic box to fit.

Overall, a good experience considering Jesus fast response and professional demeanor to our home.

Jesus fixed our aging electrical system problem quickly.  I will certainly use him again if need be.  Thank you Jesus!

My garage was an electrical fire hazard. My main problem was how the garage door opener was installed and receiving power through a dangling orange extension cord. The garage door opener was installed by a professional. My garage is not fully covered by drywall--only the wall I share with my neighbor.

Called Mejia Electric Service and Jesus, the owner, came out and immediately recognized the problem with the garage door opener and the other dangling cords throughout the garage. Also while discussing the electrical needs,  I mentioned I wanted more lighting for the garage. So LED lighting controlled through a motion sensor would be installed. There were seven individual tasks and one in the house that need to be completed.

Jose, the electrician, worked on this project, completing all tasks with focused attention to detail. Excellent work!

5 stars! We needed a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in our garage for EV charging and I contacted 15 electricians through Yelp to get quotes. The quotes I received ran the range from $380 - $1200! Mejia Electric Service and one other electrician offered free on-site estimates/consultations so I scheduled them both.

I communicated directly with Jesus Mejia via text and phone call and he was very professional and responsive. He came on a Wednesday at 11am to give the estimate (he was by far the most reasonable price) and one of his electricians arrived Friday at 10am to do the install.

Luckily, our garage has its own electric subpanel and was able to support the new outlet without having to run a new line from the main breaker box. Installation was completed in about 45 minutes and the electrician was friendly and professional.

Would 100% recommend them to anyone and use them again!

Mejia electric is a dependable company that offers quality service and repair. They listened as I tried to explain as best as I could what happened with my electrical outlets in the kitchen and they gave me an estimate for the repair with no sales pressure after I told them I would have to think about it.  

By the time I called them back it was after hours and they texted me, after I left my cell number on their answering machine to help schedule my appointment for the next day in the morning. Very convenient and responsive!

The next day the electrician was there right on time and got to work right away. He explained the problem he found with the outlet going out that then sent an electrical current to the outlet next to it causing that one to go out as well. He replaced replaced them both right away easily and then I was able to plug in and use my microwave and stove again!

Mejia showed up on time and was polite and professional. His work was top notch and honest. His prices are very reasonable and he is very knowledgeable over a large variety of electrical matters. Will definitely be using his services going forward.

SITUATION:  35+ year old house, no upgrades. I used a power tool plugged to an outside outlet and knocked out the circuit/line that was shared with the refrigerator, kitchen counter outlet and another interior outlet.  Then after googling the situation, I learned that a major appliance should have it's own line/circuit and power tools, space heaters, toaster ovens etc, can overload a shared circuit.
EVALUATION:  Did not know of any electricians, so I went to Yelp describing the situation that needed immediate fixing. Received 5 responses, 3 were free estimate visits. Jesus found a burned piece of wire behind the 2nd layer of the panel where the wires are.  He provided advice and did not push or oversell. He asked if he could provide additional items on the quote that we had discussed so that I can look over the description of the repairs and the pricing.  He provided a typed up quote that included the immediate repair of the short circuit, and other items we discussed including a dedicated circuit for refrigerator.  
WORK: Jose and Taylor arrived on time, answered our questions, described what they were doing and walked through the work after completion.  They worked... no dilly dallying.

I was very disappointed with Mejia services! It started off on a great note with him coming to our house and listening to our needs on installing a charger for our EV.. Jesus seemed very eager to be of service and gave us a really good price on installing a NEMA 14-50 outlet.

But when we set the appointment for Tuesday he NO SHOW! I called and no answered and messaged on Yelp.. to which he replied it's for Thursday.. I gave him the benefit of a doubt that maybe he mistaken for Thursday even though I confirmed Tuesday! Fine... Thursday come... NO SHOW again!! He eventually reached out almost 2hours later stating... parts were delayed and other job obligations..

While I understand he may be a busy guy.. but NO SHOW twice in a row with NO communication is unprofessional! He had a week to order or gather supplies for the installation. He's the electrician and the expert on parts and stuff!

My friend was at my house.. and made an appointment with him the following day to get lights installed in his garage. And he NO SHOWed at my friends as well!

I cleared 2 days of out my week hoping to get this EV outlet installed but only ended up in major disappointment!!

I wish his business all the best of luck! He needs better time management and communication with his customer because that is not a good look for his business!

This review is long overdue. I just want to emphasize that Mejia Electric Service did work for me in early 2021. I'm just as happy today than the day the Mejia team finished installing my new Electrical Panel. I needed to update from an old 70 amp to a 220 amp. Jesus was incredibly patient with my questions and explained the process step by step. Jesus was knowledgeable and helpful from navigating the process of getting a meter spot to working with Anaheim Utilities and Code Enforcement for inspection. Especially in my area that is considered Historic Anaheim. Which sometimes can be more strict about panel upgrades. Jesus made his recommendations and even shared a lot of his knowledge about electrical. Overall the process was painless. The work was done in a timely manner, very clean and professional. Best of all Jesus gave me a couple different options for the electrical panel manufacturer in terms of good, better, best or $, $$, $$$. I opted for the Square-D. I had a small silly job involving a fountain in a brick pedestal I needed an outlet for.   It required a rewire.   $650 was the estimate after several photos sent and some back and forth.   I had the exact same job done for $225 by a licensed electrician I located thru Next Door.   2 stars for being responsive.

The job got done right I will use Jesus and his team again when i need any electrical work done.

They came out to take a look at a variety of electrical issues.  They pressed the GFCI button, which fixed a portion of the issue, but didn't address any of the real electrical issues we were having with the TV not turning on, the fireplace, the outdoor outlet.  Then they charged $180 even though this wasn't communicated earlier.  It seems like they aren't really knowledgeable about how to fix real electrical issues and don't charge fairly.

I should have listened to the Negative Reviews..not satisfied with most of the work done and he's not willing to fix it right.NEVER AGAIN!!

Jesus and his guys came through after an initial scheduling issue. The work was done promptly and safely. They installed GCFI outlets. I would definitely recommend Mejia Electric if you need solid work at a good price.

PLEASE READ!  Do not hire this electrician.  We had a very bad experience with him.  He installed the electric panel in our home and we had problems. He decided on his own to drill Holes in my laundry area and put the grounding wires inside my house behind the washer. When the city did the inspection the inspector said he always prefers the grounding wires outside.  I asked him to move them outside and he finally agreed.  Before he moved them he accidentally text me instead of his worker to only ground the cold water pipe.  I asked his worker about that and he said he didn't know why he said that and that he was going to ground all 3.  He did not. When I questioned Mr. Mejia, he said he was going to send someone else to inspect.  He sent another worker and he came with the grounding wires already in his hand to connect the hot water and gas pipe.  He was dishonest and blamed his worker when I questioned him stating that he was new and did not have a lot of experience.  That may be true that he has a new worker but, ultimately Mr. Mejia holds the license and he is the one that told him to only connect the cold water pipe.  I can only assume that it was to save money on materials.  
After it was repaired I called the city to ask for

Got me into?  Then he said that he loved it when people did things like this to him and that now he was going to make 20,000 dollars more for what I did to him.  I told him, if he would have done things right to begin with he wouldn't have a second inspection.  
We also had him install light pods in the kitchen.  In the contract we agreed that he would install 4 inch light pods.  At the end of the day, I called him and he let me
Know he had his workers install 6 inch light pods since he was not able to purchase 4 inch ones.  This made me
Pretty angry that he would on his own install 6 inch ones when that is not what was in the contract. He never changed them to the  4 inch ones.  
Mr. Mejia also told us that the holes they made in the walls were going to be covered back up. When it came time to cover up holes, he said he did cover
Them with plastic and blue tape. He said he doesn't drywall and that his contractor license does not cover
That.  He was not honest when he told us in the beginning of the job that he was going to cover them.  He lied and we had to hire someone else's to do that job.
During the time he was here he also made comments about my children's race, my ethnicity and when I asked him to fix the electrical problems that were not right, he told me that I had the attitude of a black women, just like his black workers mother.  I did not appreciate that.  That comment was rude and racist. Mr. Mejia asks too many questions that are not related to the job (very unprofessional) and he tries to take short cuts on jobs to save money on materials and is not honest.

The job he cancelled by text the same day. No explanation of why, just cancelled and said he would not come.  Very unprofessional!

Don't waste your time. They quoted me 1500 then 2200 to do some landscape lighting and then canceled twice. Reason for canceling was because they had a bigger job the 1st time and then a 2nd time because I asked about warranty. Very unprofessional.

Requested Mejia Electric Service to install two modern pendant style chandeliers above my kitchen island. Jesus scheduled a date and time when he could provide me a quote, showed up promptly for my in-person quote and provided a fair quote. He also informed me prior to the job that my ceiling may need dry wall repairs, which would be determined once he started installation.

I contacted the electrician and he immediately came and gave me an estimate with a fair price. I hired him on to move my electrical panel. Once moved and the city giving the ok they had the stucco done and before painting it started to crack everywhere. I made him aware of this and he said the city had signed off and he would do nothing else. So due to the owner being friendly and all I originally brushed off a few things during the process. They damaged the interior drywall when mounting the new box, when they broke the stucco they did not move items in the way or cover them to protect them. I would go with someone else if you are doing any electrical.

Mejia to the rescue! Another electrical company had to postpone installing new circuits and adding recessed lights since their techs got sick with COVID.

Once I found out, I started my Yelp search and narrowed it down to 3 companies. I reached out to Mejia Electric Service late in the day and didn't need to look elsewhere. I was looking for a company to help with upgrading my electrical for my bathroom remodel - upgrading to grounded outlets, changing exhaust fans, installing motion sensor for light, replacing vanity lights and more. I didn't want a big company taking my money. I wanted a small business who may have been struggling through these times. I ended up using them for other small projects I needed around the house, like installing a ceiling fan in my bedroom, replacing outdoor light and fixing electrical outlet in one of the bedrooms.
They were very responsive. Jesus came out to see what needed to be done and emailed me the estimate, which I then signed and sent back. They came very prompt at 8am and finished in less time than expected. They definitely cleaned up after themselves, not like other contractors I have been working with lately - cough-plumber-cough - but that's another review. After the work was completed, I gave the ok to charge my card and received my receipt via email.
My daughter loved what they did and wanted a ceiling fan installed in her room, so I called them back for another small job. Job completed! Fan looks great!

Mejia Electric Service came in to install three ceiling fans and all three turned out great. They covered all my furniture prior to beginning the work so my stuff was not covered in debris, and were able to finish in 4 hours. The two gentleman doing the installation wore their masks throughout the entire job. I am very please with the results.

Had a fairly simple outlet I needed replaced and ran into a wiring issue. I was in a bid and needed it fixed ASAP.  Jesus was nice enough to come out towards the end of his day. Was there in a half hour, fixed the issue and left no trash behind. Was a very nice guy too.

I was expecting the job to be difficult, as two other electricians had tried to install one of the fans, and both said it was the wrong fan, and I needed to buy a different type. My sub panel outside was shorting for some reason. Because of this, the breaker on my jacuzzi and transformer were clipping. I traced down the problem as best as I could and replaced what I could, but still couldn't figure it out.

Jesus was very patient in figuring out the problem and was very detailed in his explanation as to what was happening. After he ran through and fixed the issues, he found other problems as a result of the loose wiring. If I had figured out how to get my power working on my own, I would of missed what else was going on.

Because he was so detailed and thorough with his work, he probably saved my jacuzzi from catching on fire because he was thoroughly checking everything.

I'm putting his card on my fridge and will go with him for any issue I have because of this. Like he says, No job is too small.

I needed to get a line running for a new AC unit. Most people that I called were either too busy or did not pick up the phone.

Jesus came out to my property in Santa Ana the same day I called him. He inspected my panel and I showed him where I needed the line for the AC unit. He quoted me $700 total for the whole job.

His prices are fair, other electricians wanted over $800. I knew how much it would cost since I had quite a few electricians look at it. It was a 4 hr job and the parts were $350....so I knew what would be a fair price and Jesus was HONEST with his quote.

Jut as I thought he was done in 3-4 hrs. He did a great job and everything was done to city code.

Jesus answered my message quickly for an estimate on a ceiling fan installation. We set up a time for him to come out and see the job and he gave me a written estimate. In a few weeks I notified him through Yelp that I purchased a fan and wanted to schedule a date. He and his wife arrived since it was a high cathedral ceiling and would need an extra pair of hands. They covered the work area and cleaned up after the job was finished. I would hire him again for electrical work and would recommend him to you.

Had Jesus out to finally estimate the jacuzzi electrical update for the backyard. He was on-time and so knowledgeable. Always a pleasure to have over and will always use for my electrical needs. A++++++

On time with a mask. Found an issue with the wiring and fixed it. Installed dimmer switches and ceiling fixture. Very responsive to inquiries and estimate.

Requested quotes from about 10 places to have two lights put on the outside of the garage, plus a timer for them. Also a new outlet in the garage.
Jesus replies to my request quickly and said he could come by that day to check it out. He did, he listened to what I wanted, explained everything he would need to do this and his quote was fair (about in the middle of other quotes I received), so I booked it.
We booked for that coming Saturday. He showed up on time, re-explained exactly what he would do, then he did it. Work was done clean and I was happy with it.
There's always room for improvement. The only thing I think could be improved is the quality of the timer installed. Little pins to set time are quite fragile and some will likely break off. Not a big deal, but the difference between a 4 and a 5 (would give 4.5 if I could). Overall am very happy and will use this company again for sure.

While they were working we were talking and all the guys were VERY IMPRESSED with Jesus's work. Saying that it looks like he (Jesus) really went the extra mile. This is the response from al the inspectors that have been out to check the work and sign off on it. I already have another job lined up for him. Jesus was good when I first started using him for my home and office but he kept pushing our appointment when i asked him to come to  our new building to get a quote from him. He didn't even call when he didn't show up for our appointment.
I just checked my home generator connection to electrical panel Jesus setup did not cover the whole house but only a few room. Now I have to spend more money to get it fixed for his mistakes.

Jesus came out to give me an estimate on 9/19 for under-cabinet lighting. I said I'd hire him to start the next day if he'd pick up LED lights and replace them in my family room. I recently had surgery and I couldn't reach up to the ceiling. He agreed, told me the approximate price, which I OK'd. He said he'd give me the receipt and I'd reimburse him for the lights.

He came out the next day, 9/20, with his wife to do the job. They seemed nice and I was happy with my decision.  Jesus told me that the bulb store was out of stock on the LED lights. He finished the cabinet lighting job and told me that he'd be back Wednesday of that next week (9/27) with the family room LED lights.

Not having heard from him, I contacted him on 9/28. He said that he was out of town and that he'd be back in 3 weeks, and that he'd call me as soon as he returned.

I replied asking him why he didn't tell me that he was going to be gone for 3 weeks when I hired him. It would have changed my decision to hire him in the first place. I asked him to contact me with the earliest date by which he'd come by with the new lights.  He only replied with a . and nothing else.

I never heard from him again.

I write this more than 5 weeks since he said he would replace the lights.

I thought I found a go-to electrician but I was wrong.

Dishonest.  Unreliable.

After hours of YouTube and tinkering I decided to call a professional. Jesus called me first and tried to walk me through the simple stuff to save me some money. Exhausting all the simple tricks we arranged for him to come the next morning (Sunday!!) and help. He arrived on time and had the entire situation mapped and troubleshooted quickly, a very experienced and knowledgeable electrician. Not only was he able to fix it he was able to improve it. I would strongly recommend you calling Jesus Mejia , he is a great person and a great electrician.

I recently moved to San Juan Capistrano, and I've been having trouble getting ANY electrician to come out to my house. It seems like most of them are to busy (or something). I was very happy when Jesus could come out the next day and give me an estimate in person. I believe construction workers need to be problem solvers and trouble shooters and it is very frustrating when you hire people who are not. Jesus came out and we negotiated a fair price for 5 recessed lights and two dimmers, he even ran speaker wire through the attic and into the walls for me for my surround sound system. He was able to do it all the very next day and I was able to continue on with my home improvement projects. I highly recommend Jesus and I will definitely call him in the future.

No need to look for another electrician.  Jesus is a true professional and really knows his stuff!  He was able to fix our electrical issues that the previous electricians we hired wasn't able to.  We originally hired him just to fix a few lights and multiple outlets that had no power.  He knew the quickest way to solve the issue and was so pleased with his work we hired him again to do recessed lighting install, bathroom vent replacement, etc.  The recessed lighting looks amazing and just the right brightness. It's perfect! We're thinking of giving him another call again to install a few more in our kitchen and one more room .

Mejia services is the only electrical company my family deals with. Jesus has done all the electrical work in my home for a few years now . He is a very honest man and does exceptional work. I trust his word and I think that is so important when having work done in my home. He is a very good and decent man that treats our home as if he was working  on his own. Men like him  in this line of work are very hard to find. I highly recommend him.

My electricity went out yesterday and was in desperate need of wi-fi and AC. I called them and was able to set up a same day appointment. Jesus came out and determined was the issue was and was able to fix it the same day while I went to dinner. When I came back everything was in working order and receipt was in the mailbox. I am happy  with the service and will use again for future electrical problems.

Jesus Mejia arrived on time to every appointment and presented a fair estimate of costs and scope of work involved. One job turned into multiple jobs all around the house from adding junction boxes, indoor/outdoor lighting and switches, and even running conduit for a water fountain feature. There weren't enough lights in places that should've had them all along. He is very friendly and professional. He sent Omar to complete the jobs and we have been nothing but impressed by this family run business with customer satisfaction as their priority. Omar always is courteous and thorough in explaining the tasks required. He is neat and meticulous with his work and work area, and was able to provide solutions repeatedly that outperformed the original plan. With a small dog and two small children, it is not always easy to have any contracted work completed in the house, but Omar is very focused and efficient with his time. Every time I realize we need more light, or anything to do with electrical work, it is nice to know we have someone we can trust who will do quality work at a reasonable price. The timelines are always communicated up front and possible drywall patching required is explained, although Omar can get things done with fewer holes than anyone. We would recommend Jesus and his team to anyone in need of electrical projects. Thank you for all of your help so far in making our new house a well-lit home. I can't say enough great things about Jesus.  We had just got delivered a new electrical dryer  Saturday morning and the eletrical outlet wasn't powering the dryer.  I went through Yelp and found only a couple electricians that were open on Saturday.  Jesus called me back shortly after I left him a message. He was able to come by the same day. He found that there was a problem with the outlet and the wiring in the electrical box. He fixed everything and his price was 40% below what 2 other electricians quoted me.  If you ever have an electrical issue, make sure you call Jesus first.  You won't be disappointed.

Called on Tuesday and setup an appointment for 2:00 o'clock for the following Thursday.  On Thursday afternoon at 1:45 P.M. I got a call from the Electrician tell me that he was going to cancel because he could not make it.  He said that he could come by on Friday instead.  I needed the work done on Thursday as we had agreed.  I told him no.  I can't hire anyone if I can't trust them to keep their word.

He responded promptly and came over same-day in between his busy schedule to check out our electrical problem (A/C has been tripping power)...come to find out it's the A/C unit causing the issue. So he was quick to provide a Heating & Air referral whom we are meeting with tonight. Very professional, polite, and knowledgeable. What a great electrician! He is unbelievably skilled, yet fast and very clean. We had him install new LED can lighting in our closet and laundry room. He replaced old can lighting in a 14 ft ceiling in our library and front hall. He is trustworthy and reasonably priced.

I'm not big on writing reviews, but I had to write one for Jesus as I am fully aware of the struggle in finding trustworthy contractors/electricians. He did an amazing job in a short amount of time. I bought a condo and wanted to install recessed LED lights  (over 20) and sought someone that I could trust with our first project in this home. I am so grateful I found Jesus on Yelp after getting bids from other electricians. The quotes I received from other electricians did not itemize the cost of each item and I felt pressured to make certain decisions I didn't think were right for my place. Jesus didn't try to push me one way or another to make the job easier or more expensive. He also graciously allowed us to reduce the scope of work when we realized we were adding too many lights in certain rooms. He was great about minimizing the number of holes he had to create in the ceiling. He's a great guy and hard worker. I'm looking forward to recommending him to friends and family.
