I had 5 outlets that were not working on my kitchen island. I tried several things to fix them, but unsuccessful. I called Maine Electric and they dispatched Johnny the same day. He was on time, professional and informative. You could tell Johnny loved his job and the company he worked for. He quickly got the outlets working for a fair price. I would not hesitate to call Maine Electric and ask for Johnny.

My 1st Heating System check was performed by Devin. He was extremely professional and provided a detailed description of potential system problems/fixes. He also identified a builder related issue that impacted airflow to a bedroom that I had been complaining about. Very grateful that I chose Service Champion to perform my HVAV/ heater maintenance checks.

This service was amazing! & would definitely be contacting them again if anything else happens down the line. Robert was super knowledgeable and was able to find out the problem quickly and explain it to me. Genuinely cares about his customers and doing what's best for them! Other companies quoted me so much more to fix the problem but Maine Electric was able to fix it for a really good price!! Generally speaking for future problems I might have, I'll definitely be calling them back, the service is truly the BEST! And also affordable, Robert was amazing!

I had 3 outlets on 2 different circuits that stopped working at the same time, even though lights and other outlets on the circuits were unaffected. Michael was able to methodically test GFCI and outlets to identify that one of the outlets had loose wiring that prevented power getting to other downstream outlets. Service was on time and efficient and all my questions were answered as he worked through the issue. Highly recommend Service Champions.

OMG! Best service ever. had electric emergency - air conditioner and refrigerator out. strange since just half out. checked the breakers of course. No joy there. unfortunately late Sunday afternoon. called everyone who said they had 24 hr service. No help till Maine called back. He was already busy but said he'd walk us thru diagnosis on the phone. Our first reaction- are you kidding! But he did walk us thru every thing to check just like he would. actually figured it out -- solar system breakers. we offered to pay.
He said no way. saved us $700 for emergency call out and walk thru.  what a great surprise! Smart, helpful, great result.

Maine Electric has retired our home and whenever there is an issue they respond right away. Lights were flickering and randomly would be at full power in one room. Maine came early in the time allotted for appointment and replaced the bulbs. Turns out it was the
bulbs, not wiring. Roberto was courteous, friendly  and efficient.

We retained the services of Maine Electric to complete a 400 Amp panel upgrade at our house in Danville. Scott provided exceptional customer service and his crew was very courteous and knowledgeable.  They were very professional and did a great job of keeping me informed throughout the work and cleaned up at the end of the job.  I was very impressed with their work and would strongly recommend their services to anyone that requires electrical work.

This company is the real deal!! It's so hard to find a company, these days, that's incredibly responsible, professional, caring, budget friendly and responsive to my thoughts and needs. Alan is the fantastic lead person and Marcos and Alejandro worked 8-9 hrs over two days to install a new sub panel and rewire receptacles inside my old house. They were patient, polite, and answered my many questions during the service. They were also very mindful of remembering to keep the front door closed so my cats wouldn't escape. Don't waste your time looking around for the best deal and company. I did that for you as I got 3 other bids before settling on this company and I couldn't be happier that I did.

We called and confirmed an appointment for  replacing an outdoor light fixture that had been damaged due to recent weather conditions. Upon arrival Angel was quick to refuse service to us as it appeared that we were in an HOA complex, which we are but had confirmed that these light fixtures do not fall under HOA parameters.

Instead, Angel mentioned that he will call his company to see if this work can be done and just left without notice. Not a single call came through after his departure and when we were able to connect with someone -- we were left with no options and no explanation as to why we were refused service. This was completely upsetting and unprofessional in the way things were executed.

My house was built in 1952. I was referred to Maine Electric by a good friend who was impressed with their work.  I wanted to make sure that the electrical system was up to date on the house as alterations were done over the years.  I called them to set an appointment to check out the work.  Chase came right out to look at the electrical system.  He told me that the breaker box would need to be relocated as it was directly above the gas meter.  There were not many options on where to put a new panel.  The determination was made that the new panel would be relocated to the side of the house about 30 feet away on the other side of the garage.  Chase put together pricing and I gave them the approval to proceed.  The cost was under what I anticipated.  Maine worked with the city and PG&E to get all of the details for the permit and work to be in place this included drawings and photos for submission.  Due to a number of variables outside of their control this took about 2 months.  They took care of everything.

I was called by Karen when all of the paperwork was In place.  Work was set to begin the work on the following Friday.

On the day of the work, three men showed up and began work.  They worked efficiently and got most of the work done.  The Electrical Inspector showed up at the end of the day and needed more done to be complete.  Scott called the inspector and his boss and found that a change had been required that was unique to the jurisdiction.   Unfortunately, additional work would be required on Monday with an inspection the following day.

The owner of the company, Scott called me directly to let me know what was going on.  I had a generator and had set it up, just in case.  Scott offered several options including an additional back up generator to manage through the weekend.  He was helpful and supportive, even giving me his personal cell phone number.   Work was completed by Fernando and Martin the following Monday with the final inspection set for the following day.

The inspection the next day allowed the power to be connected but a couple of minor corrections were needed for final approval.  These corrections were done and the final approval given a few days later.  Eduardo coordinated the inspection process with
Juan for the company.

This was a large complicated project.  Maine Electric took full responsibility for every aspect of the project from the beginning to final approval.  This company is fully dedicated to customer service and it shows in all aspects of the work.  I will not hesitate to recommend them for any type of electrical work.  I will definitely use them again.

We just had a delivery of a new oven range when we learned upon delivery that the electrical needed to be updated from hardwire to plug-in, so the range couldn't be installed at that time and had to be rescheduled. We called several local electricians and for whatever reasons weren't available or not able to do the job. Our next call was to Maine Home Services and they were able to come out that afternoon. Angel did the electrical work that turned out great. He was professional, reliable, and the rate was reasonable. The service from the office and dispatch, and from Angel was friendly and helpful. We were able to get our stove in the next day. Maine followed up with a thoughtful thank you card in the mail. Maine Home Services will definitely be our first call for electrical services in the future.

If you're considering a career, look into HVAC. Pros are in high demand and it pays well.

We were selling our house.  I discovered that a couple of our dimmer switches were not working correctly.

I called Maine to see if they could fix the dimmers.  I also needed an motion detector light installed over my rear door.

My technician showed up and did the work as requested.  However, he did not charge me for the dimmer work.  I was amazed to find out that the previous electrical work Maine had performed still had a warranty which they honored.

Maine had done completed rewired our  house a few years back but they still honored the work and material.

Definitely they earn their Diamond Certification.

We've used Maine a couple of times in the past. We recently needed some electrical work done and didn't hesitate to call Maine again. After speaking on the phone with Scott about some questions and concerns we had, Scott sent Chase to our home to do the work. Chase was friendly, professional, efficient and made certain he answered all of our questions.  Scott and Chase have earned our trust for future electrical jobs. Leave electrical work to the professionals. We'll always call Maine for piece of mind and work we can trust. Thanks Chase and Scott, we appreciate your exceptional service.

We have used Maine Electric for over 15 years. The staff has done outside wiring, inside wiring, troubleshooting, lighting installs etc for us in 2 different homes. We never hesitate to call Maine for electrical help and feel we get a job well done for money well spent.

We needed to have a motor operated skylight repaired. The service person showed up and spent less than 1/2 hour...did not go up on roof, to inspect existing motor etc but checked the defective wall unit and determined he could not repair. All of this dismal efforts cost us $250.00
So much for so little. I would encourage anyone who calls this incompetent service to get a firm quote since this was a classic ripoff.

Beware people!!!! These people are unprofessional poor quality service. They send young sales people to your home or business; he did not know how to m aside correctly how to present material correctly ( not to mention they are outrageously expensive. Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing.
They quoted me $3120 to put three small sections (48. 24) sections under the kitchen cabinets lights with a switch. The actual installer show up with hospital like florescent lights 3 small tracks that wouldn't have even covered the entire cabinet when I asked for LED light.
Their boss gets on the phone with an attitude to tell me LED is more and you need more tracks your cost us higher.
Long story short they left!
This weekend I had the entire under the kitchen cabinet lights done with walk switch and LED lights for $1600.

Maine Electric you guys are some unprofessional money hungry company with no customer service skills.

So happy to have found Maine Electric and their representative, Alan Sopar. He was honest, through and helpful. And should I say, not pushy.
We had several issues that needed addressing and booked an appointment to have them fixed. He also fixed two issues we had while he was here.   Alan spent a lot of time with us and answered all our concerns and questions.   Our first schduled appointment  was today with Julio and Chris being our electricians. They were great, on time, polite and worked hard  the whole eight hours they were here.  I felt so comfortable with them working in our home. We have a second appointment set up in a couple of weeks and I called the office to make sure they send Julio and Chris back out. Happy to finally find my go to electricians and will continue to use them for future jobs.

The one star is for the outrageous pricing. We called Maine because they are one of the few electrical services that will come out in an emergency--and we ended up paying an absurdly high, rip-off price for a simple fix. We were then informed of horrible electrical problems in our house that would require walls to be opened up and given a (gasp!) quote of nearly thirty thousand dollars. Instead, we found an electrician who helped us think through the simplest, least expensive way to fix those problems, and did great work for less than one-tenth the price.

Buyer beware! This company may do good work but they will manipulate you into thinking you have more problems than you have, so they can charge you insanely high prices. You'll get lots of sales talk and a fancy brochure--but please, get some other quotes from electricians who will be honest with you and charge an honest price.

Remember, I'm giving 1star for how expensive Maine home services charging $443- per 6 recess light and $208- per dimmer.
That's insanely crazy, compare to few other experienced licensed companies.
5 star goes to Angel, amazing sales guy that came.

I should really provide 2 reviews.
One for pure electrical work (adding LED lights and new power outlets in the garage, running new circuits, installing a new breaker box, replacing switches including grinding out the corners of some old metal boxes so they would fit new switches without having to replace the box at much greater expense).  All that was 5 stars.

A second for anything involving construction.  They replaced 3 bathroom fans, one that was a match for the size and two that were not.  Instead of stopping and saying hey these will not fit so we could look for different models (they supplied them) they just carried on and the result was pretty poor.   To deal with the hole left by the square grill (replacing a larger rectangular one) they hacked in some stucco and said that I could find a tile piece to go in there, yea right (even if I could find a good match its always going to look like a path, the right approach would be to remove the whole tile and replace it with a smaller notch cut out).  The fan with a sheet rock celling was no better.   They responded that they only rough in bu in truth what they did has to be undone and done over.   1 star for that.

So for pure electrical work, no problem they're good.  But anything involving more that that I'd stay away.

Over charged for what we got!
$400 for fan light installation and check the front porch light that is not working. High, but it was going to be done on Saturday. Hour and a half for the ceiling fan. Spent 5 minutes taking the switch panel off and deciding it was the wiring. My wife later told me he did not check the light fixture. He was in a big rush to get to his next customer. $400 bucks for that, should have been half of that. We used Maine Electric before they expanded and they were much better before they turned into Maine Home Services. They should have stuck with what they knew.

Here's the timeline:

I get an estimate on Friday, 6-1.
I call to make an appointment on 6-4. My call isn't returned.
I call again on 6-7. I'm told the job will be done on 6-12 or 6-13.
I call on 6-11. I'm told I'll be called on 6-12 from 9:00 to 12:00.
On 6-13, I receive a call informing me that they can't do my job (It isn't big enough) for another 2 weeks, although they still weren't willing to give me a date. And we'll have to came back and take a picture. Also, you haven't given us a deposit yet!

They lie very well. I sniffed out a few other con-men in the process of remodeling, but I missed with these guys.

These guys are the BEST! If you want to see pros in action, just get Maine Electric to do the job.  We have a home built in '59, so there's no grounded sockets, can't use the microwave at the same time with the dishwasher, or dryer, or toaster. We had problems.  I also wanted recessed ceiling lights in the living room and separate circuits for my computer.  After Olvin, Beto & Antonio showed up on time, in uniforms, put covers on their shoes before entering our home, I felt like these guys would do a good job.  After watching them work for half a day I was REALLY GLAD I called Maine! WOW.
THEIR SERVICE AND PROFESSIONALISM IS OUTSTANDING. I didn't have to do anything. They moved & covered everything that might get dusty and before they left, they uncovered, swept & vacuumed and put back all so at the end of each day you couldn't tell they were there other than new switches and lights.

Scott at Maine Electric did work for me at my home years ago. I can't remember exactly how long, but I will say that I was impressed with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the guys overall. From having a menu of work and the cost in a binder, to their appearance and presentation (vehicles), they were a class act. All work was done as contracted, with no overselling or unnecessary delays.

Cut to years later. I am having a problem with one of the lines they ran for me. When I called to find out what it would cost to come out and fix it, they told me that the work was warranted, and they would come out and fix it for me. This is above and beyond what I expected, and is a good indicator of their work ethic. I understand what others might think about an electrician trying to sell them something they think they don't need, but we have been flirting with danger in so many old homes that it is surprising there aren't more house fires. Just consider that running a hairdryer can put more load on old house wiring than the housse full of lights it was designed for. It's a scary thought, and needs a professional to make sure it is safe.

We just had a rather big electric job done at our house to replace a lot of the very old black wiring (aka Knob and Tube) that is in our home. We have a lot of this old wiring throughout our home and are now in the process of replacing all of it.

It's not an easy job and the two techs who were here, Wayne and Kevin were absolutely amazing. Wayne was underneath the house in the crawl space, as well both of the techs up in the attic to replace wiring for just a couple of rooms. Both Kevin and Wayne worked extremely hard all day long. Throughout the entire 5 plus hours they were here they were very dedicated, worked extremely hard and were both, at all times, respectful, and informative, constantly explaining what they were doing. We felt very comfortable having both of them in our home.

Furthermore, they did an excellent job. We are thrilled with the results of their work and will continue to use Maine Electric to complete this job as well as any future changes we would like to do concerning our lighting and electrical needs.

Thank you very much for everything and I highly recommend going with Maine Electric if anyone is looking to change or upgrade any electrical equipment.

5 Stars No 10 Stars, this company is amazing!!! Upgraded my panel from 100 amp to 200 amp. Sounds like an easy project. Well it wasn't, due to PG&E. Scott and his crew were amazing!!! They walked us through the entire process. There was always some available for any questions we had, and to top it off when we had an urgent issue they had a 30 minute response time!! I would love to tell you the whole story but that would take way too long. If you need an electrician CALL THEM!!!

I had an electrical fire in my garage; the plugged in surge protector melted!
This is unusual as I know now; and I am grateful my house didn't burn down. I googled diamond certified electricians looking for the highest customer satisfaction rating and found Maine Electric. Their admin is professional, courteous and friendly. Sensing my anxiety, she got me an appointment right away.
After Jason evaluated the situation, we had a discussion about what happened, possible causes & repairs and cost estimate. Warranty and right to cancel was also discussed. My impression from that visit was customer service is a priority. A repair appointment was scheduled shortly.

I would like to give Chad and Luis a big thank you for doing a thorough detailed job going into the attic from the closet ( no small feat) , checking & trouble shooting the electrical panel,  surveying & assessing damage in the garage and the kitchen then doing repairs. Luis did break a picture frame that fell off the wall while climbing out of the attic; he apologized profusely.  And, Maine Electric true to their word, paid for the frame replacement quickly.

Everyone I spoke to at Maine Electric was really clear about being professional, knowledgeable, customer service oriented, and moreover exhibited a level of integrity that is rare in any business. They may not be the cheapest service in town but, they give me excellent, reputable, quality care I as a single mom can count on.

The electrician showed up on time and I thought terrific!  Then he proceeded to tell us that if his company did the work on the breaker and wiring, it would be at least $1,500.00.  He said that they were a 5-star company and how wonderful they were.  He never once investigated the problem we were having.  He made no effort to check out the problem for us but said to call when we were ready to have it fixed???  I thought we'd called for a repair not a live advertisement about the 5-Star company.

Don't use these people.  I've talked to friends who had issues with them after we experience the interaction.

Do not call this company! The only good thing was that they came out right away and identified the problem but the fix they quoted me was thousands of dollars and not at all necessary. Another company fixed it easily for 300 and it was no problem. The estimate from Maine was just a piece of paper with different numbers on it but did not specify the work to be done. I called to report this to the owner, Scott, but he has not returned my phone call. Stay away!

These guys are the best!! I use them for all my electrical needs. Show up in time and look very professional. My breakers kept tripping thought I had a real bad problem. Turns out I had my two drives in the garage on the same breaker which was causing issues whenever I plugged in my tools. Fernando said it's best to run independent outlets for each. Haven't had a problem since!!! His work was very clean looking and left everything looking how it did before he got there. Most people leave a mess that I have to clean up. Not these guys. If you need electrical work done you should call Maine. They're honest, fairly priced, and easy to work with. Thanks again Fernando!!!

Engaged the team at Maine to retrofit about 80 can lights to LED, replace several bathroom fans, add three new receptacles, and install a number of light fixtures.  Overall, the team was great, very professional and did excellent work. The reason for the low rating is really about value for the money. Maine is a very good firm, but their prices are significantly higher than a number of other high quality competitors. I learned this after the main project was completed when I obtained a bid for under counter lights from Maine and a competitor. The competitor bid was less than half of the bid from Maine and the products installed and workmanship was excellent in every respect.  If you're happy with Maine, that's great as they are a good firm. If you're planning new work, I strongly suggest you get at least one other competitive bid from a top quality firm.

Workers were nice and friendly. Had my kitchen remodeled do to fridge leaking. Had Maine come change plugs and new lighting. Well they shut off the power not asking or even seeing what was on the circuit. My fish tank happened to be on the same circuit. My fish tank backfilled and soaked my family room buckling the floor Karen had a company come to dry floor. The owner Scott came by being rude stating it is normal to shut the power off . What if someone was on a ventilator are so? And just shut power off. Had a conversation via phone told him I will have my wife send the last payment. Well I guess she took to long for Scott. Scott was very unpleasant threatening us 2 times to take us to small claims court will not recommend Scott to anybody Beware He did offer to help pay for 1/2 of a 4x10 floor. Well the whole floor needed to be changed because could not match the floor. Beware even had the nerve to ask me to give his company a good review huh

I had a bit of an issue with my wiring in my bathroom where the fuse blew? Shorted out and a lil singe appeared on the ceiling.
I am not sure,  which I believe was a HUGE factor in the heinous way I was treated when I called Maine Electric. I am not savvy about the wiring and such in my home.

My GOD, Ethan came out and sighed, tsk tsk d, rolled his eyes, and basically painted a scene of gloom and doom. He stated I would need to move my fuse box, create two more, rewire the ENTIRE house, knock out a wall to accommodate the calamaty that was my home, in his eyes. AND.....I was going to need permits, etc.

I am a single Mom, raising two kids alone...RIGHT before the Holidays and he quoted a price of 5000$

I called a friend of a friend, whos licensed and bonded....700$ total..parts and labor.

SHAME ON YOU MAINE ELECTRIC!

Just used Maine Electric to upgrade our electrical service from 100amp to 200amp with a new main panel and upgraded sub panel. Pricing was competitive and the service was great. Scott, the owner, and his team were professional and did a great job. Scott handled all inspections and coordinated with PG&E. Job well done and would highly recommend them for any of your electrical needs.

We initially met with Daric to discuss our needs and the job.  Daric spent about an hour at our home on the first visit to price out the job.  He came up with some useful alternate suggestions for us to achieve what we wanted and how it would work best for our setup.  So we were fine paying the initial $95 that would be credited if we decided to contract with them for the work, which we did.

Kevin undertook the work at our home.  He called us a few minutes before arriving and arrived on time.  He was very careful with protecting our wood floors and cleaned up after the job was completed - it was as if he had never been there.  We had other contractors at our home at the same time installing blinds that needed a power source and Kevin worked very well with them with no issues. When he was finished, Kevin went through everything he had done to make sure we understood how the outlets and switches functioned.

Both Daric and Kevin were very pleasant and extremely professional in how they conducted themselves and completed their work.  Certainly Maine Electric is more expensive than some other companies and have a set price for various types of work including obtaining the required permits.  They will also have a member of their team at our home for the Building Inspector's visit. This means that we don't have to spend any time dealing with the City Building Department.

We paid more than we were hoping but my husband and I appreciate quality work and professionalism and it's evident that the company invests in training its employees well.  You get what you pay for!  We will use Maine for any of our future electrical needs and I would certainly recommend them based on our first experience as described above.

So, here is an update. I am doing some remodeling at home and just to be sure and have no doubts at all, I had another electrician check all my electrical connections. Unlike what Maine Electric technician told me and what they have defended in their response here, my home has grounding. I got a the electrician to explain to me exactly how grounding is working at my home. I don't want any risks at my home. And yes, Maine Electric guy who came was either fibbing or plain incompetent. In either case, not recommended.

We asked for a quote for our light in front of the front door and we were given a quote for over $4,000.  We were also told that it would take all day to do this.  It seems like an excessively high rate.  Also they said that they would call the next day and never did.

We had our problems resolved within 24 hours of calling them. They quote an exact cost for the work. We called to replace the transformer for the doorbell and exterior address light, and to replace the canned fluorescent light in the bathroom with an LED light. It looked so good that we had him replace the canned fluorescent over the kitchen sink as well.

Daric was courteous, professional, and did excellent work.

They are worth their Diamond Certification.

So disappointed. I had a wonderful experience with Maine Electric the first three times I used them but my last experience was not. The amount they wanted to charge me to switch out a light fixture (for an identical fixture) was $236!  I felt it was totally unreasonable and reached out to the owner to see if he could rectify the quote. Unfortunately he didn't and I will no longer use this company.

I don't think I have ever been so angry about home service situation in my life until my mother called Maine Electric.

There are a lot of great reviews here though so I wonder how much of it was the technician  (name I have but will not mention here), the company's practices, or just the fact that the person on site was a mid 70's friendly lady who just didn't know anything about home electricity.

Our reason for calling Maine was that the dishwasher wasn't working anymore (or hasn't for over a year) and there was a single breaker in the box that would not stay on (at all). We had a mouse problem a while back and some of them hung around behind the washer so I was expecting some shorted wires. I wasn't expecting much to be needed except for a section of wire to be patched or replaced and maybe that single bad breaker just wasn't holding anymore so also needed replaced.

I wasn't there and didn't get a call from my mother with an update until he left.
So my mother calls me. The technician didn't fix anything really at that time, all he did was some troubleshooting and ended up turning off a different breaker above the one that was tripping (that was actually fully functional, not sure why he did that).

She tells me that they are coming back tomorrow morning to do the work. They wanted to start immediately but (lucky for us) one of the guys couldn't make it. They ended up scheduling for the next morning.

Then she reads off the work that was to be performed.
They were to disconnect the wires from the wall switch (that turned on/off pwr to washer) and run new wiring from the breakers to the dishwasher bypassing the switch.
Since the one breaker that was tripping left a burn mark in the back inside of the box the whole box and all breakers needed to be replaced.
The box also needed to be relocated because it wasn't up to code. It was to be moved just a few feet over and rewired and to do that a new firewall had to be installed, walls repaired after all of this, etc etc.

Total cost of this work, about $6500 (initial quote).

Now this is one of those things that really get me. They had this sort of pressure on her that she had to have the work done immediately and wanted to lock her into the agreement now otherwise there could be a huge fire, danger, death, world ending, etc. . He even knocked the price down to $5000 because she agreed right then. She didn't know any better and was just trying to be safe. But thankfully she called me right away.

Just to keep up, the price is now $5000 from Maine.

I was so angry the guy from Maine offered to speak to me but this was all just so ridiculous I was just not going to be a nice guy.
Needless to say, after a couple more calls I had my mother cancelling the appt for the next morning. My sister and I breathed a huge sigh of relief. . .
They did charge her $60 for the visit but that was fair enough.

So lets go forward a couple more weeks, past the holiday. My mother looks up a nice small company. She calls them and explains the situation. The company is a husband wife team and they were very courteous and helpful right off the bat.

(Now this is the best part)

The husband shows up on time to the appointment (after wife confirmed his time earlier, they told her he was on the way, etc). Now this guy comes in. Hears her concerns and goes right for that wall switch (for the washer). He opens it up and walaa! Here's the problem! He shows my mother that the little jumper tab behind the switch/outlet was never cut and since there is 120V source power connected in more than place the over current/voltage going through the breaker is causing it to trip.
He cuts the tab, turns on the breaker, and dishwasher & all work great. He addressed her other questions and concerns, does some final tests to verify everything is good and heads out.

Final bill from this Non-Maine Electrician. $100

I hate to see situations where people or a company seems to try to take advantage of a senior citizen or just anyone who doesn't know any better. I can't say all Maine techs are like that and they likely are not, This was really one of those stereotypical being taken advantage of situations and we were lucky to have gotten out of it in time.

I'm happy though that everything turned out for the best. Just not with Maine. . .

Waited 3 hours for them to arrive for my confirmed appointment. Very disappointed.  I have had a great experience with Maine in the past and have given them over $20,000 in business.  Today, I have been waiting 3 hours for them to arrive. Still waiting. Either they are very disorganized or the customer experience is not something they value.

So why 2 stars, after they stood me up?  Because they pushed me into finding another electrician that came highly rated, did the same work for 50% less, and started that work 2 hours after I called them.  That's what 5 star electricians do.

Now as to what Maine Electric did....  I made an appointment 10 days in advance.  I described the requested scope of work--6-8 hours and some of it needed 2 people.  Chris, their electrician, showed up at 4:50pm (10 minutes left in the promised window), gave me a written quote, but said he couldn't do any work until 2 days later, again with a we'll show up between 1 and 5pm promise.  That was put into his written quote, which I accepted and signed.  Two days later, Chris called me at 3pm saying he'd be here in 30 minutes.  But at 4:45, he still wasn't here, and didn't answer his cell phone when I called.  At 4:55, I called his office.  At 5:15 he calls back and says he can't do the job for several days, and that I should find someone else.  Moral to the story--if you hire someone who does mostly commercial and PG&E work, be prepared to be suddenly put at the tail end of the queue, whether you have a signed agreement or not.

p.s.  I tried to reach the owner, but all I could do was leave a message with their customer service people.  Two business days later, I haven't yet heard from him.

I am not one to Yelp but in this case I feel that Maine Electric deserves five big stars.  I was anticipating buying a Tesla Model S but I needed to be sure I could install a fifty amp circuit in my garage.  Getting an electrician even to come out was a chore.  When I finally found one that looked at the job he said that a thirty amp circuit was the best he could do.  I was frustrated until I found Maine Electric advertised on the Internet.  I called the number and the phone was immediately answered.  I told the person on the phone that I needed someone to look at my project.  She said that someone could come over the following day to take a look.  She gave me a time and said Ethan would be the one to assess the work to be done.

Promptly at the appointed time Ethan showed up.  He was wearing a company uniform and driving a clean distinctly marked van.  He was very professional describing the work that I needed done.  He was able to insure me that a fifty amp circuit could be installed.  We sat down and discussed the options and the costs associated that were available to me.  I made the decision and he wrote an easy to understand contract that included the work to be done with a city issued permit.  He said that in three days the electrician would be a my house at nine AM with the proper parts and equipment.

At nine AM a young man by the name of Chase rang my doorbell.  He was dressed in the company uniform driving a company truck.  He knew exactly the work that need to be done and and got right to work.  In three hours the job was finished and I was extremely impressed with the neatness of his work.

All in all you get what you pay for.  Both Ethan and Chase are professionals and I highly recommend Maine Electric for any electrical work that needs to be done.

I'm kind of conflicted about this company.  I had flickering lights that were all on the same breaker, so I called Maine based on the good reviews and the fact that they are diamond certified.

First of all, they charge a fee of $59 just to come out and have a look-see.  Then, if there's work to be done, they will deduct that from the service.  I don't like that policy at all.  They won't even tell you what the problem is for $59 - just the general area of the problem. After you sign on the dotted line, then they diagnose the problem.   Don't contractors usually give free service estimates and if the price is good,  the work is done?

Replacement of a single breaker cost me $300!  Having never used an electrician before, maybe that's the going rate, so I have nothing to base that charge on.  It seems high, though.  I think a breaker can cost maybe $40.

But overall, the tech was very nice, professional, and punctual as in previous reviews.  I think they definately know what they're doing - I'm just not so sure about the prices they charge.

We've used Maine Electric for work on two homes now, and have always been 100% satisfied with the work they've done. We've had small repairs (fan installs) and huge jobs (entire electric panels relocated), and they've been on time, efficient, friendly, and extremely fair with pricing. We had several quotes for a large job, all within a few hundred dollars of one another, but we went with Maine Electric because of their previous awesome work.

Best part? They offer a warranty on their work. A couple minor issues came up after the last job, but the office sent out technicians immediately to correct the small issues. Really upstanding company.

WOW! I would just like to say that Al Moreno is fantastic! He was so courteous, on-time, explained everything, and was honest. Its easy to try and make a small job bigger-but he didn't do that, he just helped us out with out current issues. Who knew getting a new stove and dishwasher would be such trouble right? Well thanks to 1963 housing.

We will most definitely be using Al again. Our house has some electrical issues and its so very comforting to know that we have someone we can call. I can not say enough good things about my experience.

Oh and Maine electric is diamond certified too. Use them!

About a year ago we needed two light fixtures installed, one with a place already in the ceiling ready to go, and other that needed to be put in from scratch.  We originally called another company (Sparky) and they seemed nice enough during the quote visit, but then they flaked on us several times for the actual install!  Finally fed up with taking days off of work, just to have them cancel at the last minute, we went looking elsewhere and found Maine.

The man who came to give us a quote was friendly, neat, and didn't mind taking the extra time to discuss some other electrical issues we had around the house even though we weren't going to have those issues tackled during this particular visit.  The quote was fair, so we scheduled a tech to come out and do the work.  The Maine tech, as opposed to the other company tech, ACTUALLY CAME WHEN PROMISED :)  Not only was he on time, but he did very good quality work.  The brand new light fixture we wanted installed required putting some holes in the walls to run the wires, not only did he patch the holes but he took extra time to match the texture on our walls which is a very difficult texture to match.  Now you cannot tell there were ever holes in the walls which was a big concern of mine.

This week we wanted some ceiling fans installed, not a big job, but still something we decided to hire out.  We called Maine first this time.  I'm happy to say that our first experience with them was not a fluke.  Again we dealt with friendly, neat, professional persons from the original phone call, to the man who gave us our estimate, to the tech who did the work.  They were fast, but most importantly they came when they said they would!  No flaking by this crew!

We want to have some lights put out front and we are redesigning the back yard which will require some electrical work as well.  When the time comes, Maine will definitely be the company I call.

Maine just completed a job in the garage. Daric the estimator was personable, knowledgeable and professional - I agreed to do the job and paid a deposit. Josh the installer, also personable, arrived early today. We aligned and he got right to work. Good attention to detail, respectful, humble, conscientious, quality oriented. From the breaker, he ran and bent EMT conduit, perfectly, nice and tight. I am good with paying for quality work particularly when it comes to electrical, and that's what I got. Keep up the good work Daric and Josh. I am satisfied and recommend Maine.

I agree with the other reviewers regarding the fee to  Just to show up, however, in their defense I can see that they could easily spend the day driving around the entire peninsula bidding jobs, spending time researching parts and labor for their bid and no way to cover costs at the end of the day.

They are diamond certified and very professional.  The gentleman was here 5 minutes early, cleanly dressed, removed his shoes, took a look at my problem, wrote up an estimate and after my approval, got right to work.  He had all the correct parts with him thanks to a prior phone discussion, finished quickly, cleaned up after himself and was on his way.  I'd hire them again.

Very happy with the professional service.

I specifically contacted Maine Electric because I like to use Diamond Certified Companies.

We had an urgent need.  When we turned the dial on our stove, the stove did not turn on, the light in the den did!  As it turned out, we needed major electrical work from arcing.  It was a very complicated problem that involved endless hours of work from top rate electricians.  Kudos especially to GILBERT, a master electrician, who clearly diagnosed the problem, and kept in regular contact with me.  His team did an outstanding job.  One small caveat.  The work was excellent as mentioned, but the electricians would have improperly labeled the master control panel circuits had I not done a spot check/test.  Be sure to do a test yourself to make sure everything is labeled correctly prior to when the technicians leave.

Lastly, ask for a discount.  Their prices are high. Worth it, but still, costly.

I would recommend Maine Electric and would use them again!

I'm not sure how Maine Electric in livermore is in business.

The quote I received from them was $2,000 MORE than the ones from other companies I received (for the same material).

Their electrician's seem very young and inexperienced, and were DEFINITELY unprofessional. (You should NEVER tell your client that you really wish you could go home...).

The electrician we ended up hiring fixed a light at no charge that Maine Electric's electricians supposedly replaced, but said it was, a completely broken fixture, and that they would call us with a quote. When I asked our electrician what was wrong with that light, he said, It was just badly wired...whoever wired this light obviously had no idea what they were doing. Well said, I think.

If you feel like wasting your money, and hiring unprofessional children to fix your lights, this company is for you!

So here's the sequel to my story.  The rip-off artists at Marine estimated the cost to simply replace 13 light switches was $100 each.  The work was subsequently done by a very reputable local firm for $45 each.  Better Business Bureau, here I come!

My experience started off well with an estimate over the phone of $95, $50 less than another company, .  When the technician arrived, he told me the repair would cost $250 before he started the work.  Looks like bait and switch to me.  The tech did a good job, but he would have charged me another $109 for an outlet I bought at the hardware store for $1.25.  Be sure to get written estimates before agreeing to any work from this company.

For the second time Maine Electric handled an emergency situation we had like complete pros and saved the day for us! I called and Sharon answered the phone, listened to my pleas about our electrical problem and calmly handled getting me scheduled asap. I can't say enough about the staff at Maine....they are awesome. Ethan arrived in the time estimated braving the morning traffic from the East Bay and diagnosed the problem as a bad 100 amp. breaker. He was very friendly, communicated really well and he took the time to analyze the problem before honing in on the main cause. He left me feeling very confident in his ability to fix our problem. Our sub panel and all that was run through it were back up and running in no time.
I so appreciate Maine's level of service...at a time when customers are often treated as the enemy, the people at Maine treat customers like they are members of their family. Special thank you to both Sharon and Ethan for turning my day around!

My husband and I ordered a new dryer and when the installers came to install it they said that we did not have the correct type of outlet. Apparently what was there was a range outlet and it needed to be changed to a dryer outlet. As a result we called Maine electric and that is when the nightmare began. The gentleman who came out didn't even remove the outlet to check the wiring. He immediately said this is a BIG job. You need to have the wiring redone, you need to have a new panel installed ( because the company who made your panel is no longer in existence), you will need to then have fire wall installed because we have to fix the walls after rewiring. All this to the tune of $3,348. When my dad asked about permits the electrician proceeded to tell us we didn't really need them. Until my dad mentioned that he is a retired Fire Marshall and we don't do anything without doing it right. He then said of course we could get permits if we wanted and those would be another $400.

After a nearly $4000 estimate we said that we would have to think about it and get back to them. We then proceeded to call a friend of ours who is an electrician to get his opinion. He said that the box already had the four wires needed to change to a dryer outlet and that he would install it for us next day free of charge. Since we wanted to be absolutely certain that we were safe and up to code to just change the outlet we then checked with my uncle who is a building inspector. He too said that all that was required was a simple outlet change.

Our friend came out the next day and corrected the problem in a half an hour.

Thankfully we did not blindly take the word of someone who was just preying on what he perceived to be our lack of expertise.

If we would have gone with Maine electric we would have paid almost $4000 needlessly. It saddens me that companies like this just want to take advantage of people. I am sickened to think that the gentleman who gave us an estimate was either completely ignorant himself or was a con artist. I am thankful for second opinions from family and friends who are not in it just for the money!!!! If I could give them negative stars I would. I encourage people to take the time to read the negative reviews as most of them have the same theme. Maine Electric trying to charge an arm and a leg for a change that is not required and preying on people who are concerned for their families safety.

Called Maine Electric to get a quote on removing fluorescent lighting and adding additional canned lights, ceiling fan, etc. and was shocked that they wanted $95 to come give an estimate. After reading several Yelp reviews where home owners were told they might need extra work done when not really needed we decided to pass and found another electrician who gave a free detailed quote, scheduled the work, didn't even require payment till job complete. Have additional work that will done in near future and will use the same person again. In this day and age hard to find contractors willing to be up front and willing to work with you so when a homeowner does find someone they need to hold on to them.

Ethan from Main Electric came out to my condo in Concord and I had an problem with my front porch lamp. Many years back I had bough a fancy light socket that you plug in to the socket and it has a photo lens that will turn on the light if anyone gets within rage of that lens. Well I tried to trouble shoot the problem myself and after vacuuming all the spider webs, changing the bulb (which unknown to me I had a burned out light bulb with the new ones) It was a burned out light bulb and the fancy socket adapter that died. Ethan checked it all out for me and was on his way within a half hour at the most. I am very pleased with his work and although he said it would be no charge, I paid the service charge because I like coming home to a lighted porch when it's dark. Thank you Ethan for solving my issues with my porch light. I will try to buy a replacement for my adapter on line.

I just bought a house with major electrical issues and decided to go with a full house re-wire. Maine Electric had the most thorough and detail oriented estimate which also included drywall repair. Ethan was very helpful with getting the estimate done and working with my schedule.

I employed Maine to make our home safe when we moved in. We knew we needed a new subpanel, and wanted new lights added and all the old sockets replaced. We also needed a new circuit for our spa. Maine identified some other work that needed doing to make our home safe, including a new main service and proper grounding. I had every faith that this work was necessary. They dealt with all the permits and inspections required for the work, and a complex set of decisions about how the main service should be routed to meet with code and stay on budget.

All the electricians I met were polite and hard-working, they put on shoe covers when they came in the house and left the work areas cleaner than when they arrived. The pricing was straight-forward and clear, and although I felt like some items were a bit pricey I don't really have much to base that on, and I am happy to pay for peace of mind. I did get another quote for some of the larger items and it was comparable.

I'm only not giving 5 stars because the project dragged on for a while - this was mainly because of the city being slow with inspections and planning, but I felt that it could have been accelerated a little.

Overall, I'm very happy with Maine's service, and I would use them again. Daric was our project lead, and he was always helpful and made me feel he was gunning to get our project completed. He was polite, knowledgeable and very kind to my little boy (in my book, a good test of a contractor).

Stay away from Maine Electric. Hire someone else or have second opinions. I had a power problem with a backyard Shed. They came, looked around and removed an outlet connecting the power directly to the shed. It worked, but their diagnostic was that I needed to replace the whole Circuit Breaker panel, which would cost me 2,500.00. They told me I needed to do the job or could compromise PG&E connections. They left without fully fixing the original problem. I brought 3 other electricians and all of them told me the panel was a good quality panel and there was no need to replace the panel at all. A few switches cleaned and replaced and all was good again. Maine Electric are sharks looking to make some cash on you unnecessarily. I will never call them again. I am not sure how they got a Diamond Certified accreditation.

I had both Josh and Chris to work on hooking up a new electric dryer.  Both young men were personable, competent and efficient.  I would recommend the workers and the company completely.  Next time I need electrical work they will be #1.  Thanks guys, Brenda Gaspar Alameda

It is rare that you find continued superb service over several years as we have found with Maine Electric. We first met Scott and Chris of Maine Electric at a Home show in 2005 at the Alameda Fairgrounds. We were in the process of slowly renovating our home and we have come to find that small jobs was not what they were in business for!
But not so with Maine Electric: NO JOB TOO SMALL.

Most recently we had issue with our dryer not staying on even after we had bought a new one (the other was 29 yrs old!) and the wire started to burn. Thanks to the surge protector installed by Maine Electric about 4- years ago - the house did not go up in flames. We called Maine Electric and Chris came out that very day and informed us of the issue with the dryer outlet wire. Maine Electric made arrangement to come on the following Tuesday to replace the entire outlet and wire. Once again they did not disappoint! A job well done! Super as always!

Over the years Maine Electric has upgraded our electrical panels, 220 wiring for the kitchen, installed lighting in the garage and security lights outside, outlets outdoors and indoors, light switches, and even ran a line under the house so we have Internet connection upstairs as there was metal between the levels blocking the wireless feed.

Maine Electric has always been fair in their pricing. We have have always gotten three quotes and made sure contractors were licensed. Maine Electric beats them out. They are Diamond Certified and well deserve the certification. They are on time, courteous, and they clean up thoroughly after they are done and they did not leave any mess for me or my wife to sweep up.

Please read reviews by Danielle P, Rob E, and by Wilhelmine M....what they say is all true. You can count on Maine Electric to be there for all your electrical needs. You won't be disappointed!

Scott, Chris, and all at Maine Electric: Thank you for jobs well done!

Had them install a ceiling fan - i had purchased it myself but wanted the proof of installation by a licensed electrician.  the pricing was reasonable and clear as they used a checklist-based estimation form (it costs X if they need to do Y on the checklist).  They came when they said and were very professional respectful of my home (used shoe booties, cleaned up after themselves).  the installation was quick and neat.  My only quibble was that the wall patch was not quite so good, but since I was prepared to prep, texture, and paint the wall anyway, this doesn't bother me.  I'd recommend them heartily (plus I got a discount for saying i'd found them on yelp and also received a discount due to an ad I found for them in a local magazine - they applied both discounts).

I had them come out and install wireless motion detectors outside in my entryway.  After installation they never worked.  They broke the switchplate on the inside of the house as well. I've called them a half dozen times and received no response. If I can't even get a call back, what can you expect from them?

Excellent service from Maine Electric! I needed my bathroom lighting fixtures replaced (from older-style flourescents to new) and some outdoor light sconces (my purchases) installed on my back deck. The outdoor installation turned out to be a bit more complicated than they had anticipated, but they got the job done with dispatch anyway even if it took a bit longer. Everything was handled well, the house was kept very clean, and they were altogether pleasant and responsible people. I'm very pleased with Maine Electric, and I'll call them again the next time I need electrical work done!

When we first met Scott from Maine Electric, we were impressed about what he said.  No job is too small.

We needed only a few thing done in the house at the time, like adding electrically outlets in our living room and dinning area and adding more in the kitchen.  Every place we called and spoke too said that we do not do things like that, it has to be more things done for us to come out.  But not for Scott.  We have had him come out several times to add outside outlets (3 in all), add overhead lighting in the garage, put a surge protected on the house, updated our electrical sub panel in the garage, totally put in a new main electrical panel and grounded our house.

We have had Maine Electric do a lot of work at our house they are always neat, clean, friendly and professional.  They are always on time and get the work done in a timely matter.

We love the way they put booties on their feet before they come into our house.

When calling the office there are always friendly gals that pick up the phone.  And they are so helpful.  We had an emergency on December 23, 2011 and they had someone out here in no time to replace the breaker switch until the main electrical panel could be replaced.

Maine Electric is the place to call if you want great electrical work and very good pricing.

Scott and crew...................keep up the great work!

You are all the very best!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to take a room out at my business. I called Scott at Maine electric and received outstanding service from the inception.

Since we had customers until 7pm, Maine Electric came in after hours with head lamps and rerouted all of the electrical lines, boxes, and switches in one night. The technician came back after the demo and made the last few adjustments and connections.

These guys are Diamond Certified and I know why: professional, clean, punctual, and hard working.

I have used several bad electricians in the past and let me say that you get what you pay for. Maine Electric was a great value. I will call them again.

These guys did an outstanding job.  We had them come change position of light switches, run wire for our TV, and (as a major renovation) put canister lighting throughout our entire house.  Can't compliment them enough on the professional job they did.
Chris was an outstanding liaison and person to communicate with.  He made sure everything was exactly to our liking and when one thing was a little off followed up the next day and fixed it.
While they may be just a little more expensive, they were worth it as they did a phenomenal job and have what looks to be like an amazing warranty.  We will definitely be using them again when we have the need.

The company was highly recommended by a friend so I tried it out. First used their contact us page on the website but no one actually got in touch with me. So I called. Somebody came on a Friday and it looked promising. Told me to expect a call that night so I can confirm. Nothing. I called the same person following Monday and left vm. Wednesday came and didn't return my call. Called main ofc number to let them know of my situation and that I was ok with the quote and work can be done. Given window of 1-5 pm next day (Thurs). By 3, I had to call because no one called me. Left vm and finally guy called back saying we can now schedule and earliest would be Tuesday the ff week! Really?!? I needed the work done days ago. Wow. So disappointed.

This is the first time we used Maine Electric, and we'll be calling them for all our electrical needs. When our home warranty dispatched out another electrician, and that electrician couldn't work out a time that fit our schedule, we called Maine Electric. They were courteous and helpful when making the appointment. Our electrician called the evening prior to confirm the appointment and introduce himself. Upon arrival, our electrician presented himself in the professional manner I'd expect. When it turned out that the problem was some what simple, he quickly resolved it and said the service call was no-charge. THAT, is quality customer service.  Thank you Maine Electric!

Maine Electric is a company, who is customer's requirement-oriented under the strong leadership of Scott Mamola. Their employees are the honest and hardworking people of delivering the satisfaction to their customer.

Scott used to be a IBEW-trained journeyman before he started his company. I trust IBEW-trained journeyman in any electric works.

My original work requirement was to repair three (3) outside wall outlets. When an estimator was looking for breakers connected to those outlets, one of wires in control panel made a large blue spark.

He recommended to replace the control panel instead of repairing the wires. This was the start of my difficulty.

When the crew came to my home, they had two jobs; (1) repairing three outlets, which was done very quickly, and (2) replace our control panel.

They found that they cannot replace the old control panel in same location due to the new building code, which requires a new box to be a certain distance away from any fixed object. The crew suggested to move the panel 30 ft. away from old place and new wires shall be above the ceiling.

Since we worried about affecting the structural integrity of our house, we wanted to use the metal pipes, which were installed on the garage wall and all the wires to be inside the pipes.

The crew listens to our request and tried to accommodate such requirement, but failed to perform the job because there were too many wires to be in 4 large metal pipes, which were bent 5 times. They asked to use 5th pipe, which I finally rejected because my garage will look like a small garage factory.

Since I have 7,400 sq. ft. house with two control panels, there are many wires to come to this 2nd control panel.

When the crew was in struggle to perform the job for 3 days without good progress, I asked to talk with the owner, Scott.

Scott responded in the prompt manner, in which I wanted. He came in right away and figured out how to do the best job. He gave all the instruction to his crew and the work was completed on next day. We did not use any pipes at all and installed the new panel only 4 ft. away from old panel. Reason: He and I had the interactive conversation, and I removed one of our storage cabinet (fixed installation) in order to make the room for the new panel to meet the building code.

He agreed to check the integrity of work done by his crew including the check of our own wirings in the attic in order to make sure that we have the right wirings in our house even though this was not a part of the original contract. (We found that our original builder did very poor wirings.) He also did extra work of (1) fixing our wiring for pool lighting, which was not properly done by our pool contractor one week ago, and (2) installing the fire-proof door for our electric wiring room in the garage. All is free of charge except the door cost.

He told me that he wanted every customers, whom he serves, to be 100% satisfied with his company and apologized to take such longer time to complete the job.

After all, I was a happy customer.

Not the cheapest and neither the most expensive.  However, staff amazing.  Very courteous, explains work patiently, extremely fast, proficient and clean.  They taped cloth under their work, used covers for their shoes, if they needed to move furniture, clothes from closets, everything was neatly put back.  Would highly recommend and will not be going elsewhere for this kind of work.  They guarantee for 10 years and I had a lot of confidence that they knew what they were doing.

Daric from Maine Electric did a great job!  We needed to install a 3-way timer switch and he was able to install without any problem within an hour.  Previously, we had a handyman try to install the switch and was not successful.  We highly recommend Daric and we will definitely call him for any future electric projects.

I've used Maine Electric twice now, and have always been 100% satisfied with the work they've done. We've had ceiling fan installed, added an outlet in garage, and rewired service panel. I recently had work done in my Fremont home and am very pleased. And I mean I had a lot of work done. Over the course of 3 days I met 5 employees, Angel (lead), Luis, Robert, Chace & Nery (big boss).  Every one of them were wonderful people. Very professional, and they did an excellent job. They even worked in the rain. Everything I had done was explained to me as well. They also cleaned up at the end of every day.

Although we did not end up working with Maine Electric for our needs at this time, I want to point out that the organization was extremely polite and professional.  Chris came out to do an estimate and was careful to explain all the work in great detail, covering the various options available.  He was not pushy, selling hard, or impatient with all my questions.  He was also able to work out a misunderstanding with my scheduled estimate with the home office quickly and without any fuss.  His follow up calls with me were prompt and friendly.  They were flexible and fairly competitive on pricing, and under other circumstances I would have worked with them.  I would not hesitate to recommend Chris and will certainly strongly consider using them for any future work.

I give them two stars:  one star for  being very good about getting an electrician over at a time that worked with our schedule;  second star for the electrician calling to confirm he was scheduled, arriving on time, and with a very professional appearance. After that, I cannot recommend them as it took four hours to try to trace the problem, which he admitted that he  had proceeded to do entirely backwards from what should have been done.  He came up with general theories of what could be wrong, which were as good as we  homeowners had come up with.  The main drift-excuse the pun- was that an entirely new line would have to be run from point A to B  (the entire length of house, without any attic or crawl space to use-but even then that was up for debate.  Electrician thought he would go back to HQ and consult with elders of clan for ideas of what could be wrong.  I could have done that at Home Depot.  The weird thing is that we have never heard back from them-no follow up call, or billing, which if they ever get around to that, we will dispute.  Do not waste your time with them. We are still back to where we are, and getting another electrician who will honestly diagnose and offer an honest and genuine solution.
And we did. Bottom line was a very simple, inexpensive fix: circuit breaker replaced and one wire from a small section-4 ft or maybe 5-replaced and with out ripping out any wall(s).  I cannot recommend Maine.

We were very impressed with all the men we have met working with Maine.  Sal gave us good information about what we might need to help our tripping arc vault.  Then we used them to install ceiling lights and a ceiling fan.  Thanks to Pete, Allen and Kevin for their competent work and then the remarkable job of cleaning up all the dust.  We have had poor electrical work done on our condo and it is a pleasure to use a good group.

Maine Electric was extremely professional when they came to check out a circuit breaker that had been tripping while the air-conditioning was running.  The electrician, Ethan, checked into several possibile causes before identifying a loose connection that was the probable cause.  We have had no problems since.  Ethan was on time and very helpful with all questions.  I would recommend their service to anyone needing an electrician in the tri-valley area, or beyond.

My last review got removed by Yelp, so here is another review, hopefully it does not get removed again. Here is an edited and shortened version of my original review.
Last week, one of their electricians came by our house and took a necklace with huge sentimental value to my family. His story was that it accidentally fell into his bag (that is their only explanation, I did not receive of any other). However, in short, his story did not make sense to us (bag was on bed, necklace was on desk, somehow the necklace was the only thing that fell into the bag) and we feel we were only able to get it back after explaining the story and meaning behind the necklace in a voicemail left to him. There are other details that lead us to believe this, however, who you believe is up to you but that's both sides to the story.
I'm not saying that I think all electricians from here are thieves. The superintendent seemed like a good guy but if you're getting an electrician from here, be sure to keep your eyes on him and his hands the entire time.
Aside from that, the electrician also tried to rip us off by completely over estimating the service needed by a couple thousand. I suggest looking elsewhere for electrical service.

I had an emergency & looked up this company online with my smartphone

I am a DirecTV Contractor with 10 years of TV/Internet/Phone Installation experience (3 years contracting for DirecTV).  On this particular situation I was a performing a simple routine 1 box installation.  This customer had a flat screen TV mounted on top of the fireplace & I had to install a new cable outlet for the satellite receiver.  Consulting with the customer, they wanted the cable outlet as close to the fireplace as possible.  The location chosen was about 2 feet to the left of the fireplace.  The closest power outlet was 4 feet to the left of where I was to be drilling the hole.  There was a light fixture above me that had a matching pair on the right side of the fireplace.

I drilled for my outlet at the same level as the power outlet to my left which was 6 from the floorboard.  The wall is adjacent to the exterior & the Satellite dish was on the other side of the wall about 6' above.  As I mentioned I have installed for 10 years now & have NEVER hit a power line inside the wall.  I check to make sure I'm well away from the stud before I drill & always drill the same height as the center of the power outlets in the room in the hollow cavity of the wall of course.  Well you guessed it...out of the blue moon on this job/occasion I hit the power line.  I saw smoke coming out of the hole & immediately STOPPED drilling.  About 30 seconds later the lady of the house said there was no power in the house.

Obviously this was an emergency & I called a few family & friends & there we're 2 family friends that we're electricians.  One was out of town, the other was at work & wouldn't be off until 5 pm.  This was my first job of the day & I needed this repaired ASAP.  I called 3 contractors.  2 called me back.  Maine Electric was the one that came through bigtime.  (The 2nd one who called me back didn't return my call until about 2 HOURS later even though he was just down the street which would've saved me some $$$ on travel/emergency time)

Chris the Supervisor called me within 15 mins.  After telling him my situation he said his guys were on 2 other emergencies that at the latest he would have someone out 5-7pm TODAY.  But he would do his best to get someone out sooner/ASAP.  His guy Curtis called me about noon & said he'd be there NLT 2:30.  HE CAME AS PROMISED & did a FANTASTIC JOB saving my a**.

Curtis assessed the situation & was able to fix the damaged power line no problem at all & get this family's electricity back on track.  The lady owner was getting stressed about her food/meat in the fridge.  Chris the Supe & Curtis the electrician who came & performed the repair were both professional, prompt, & OUTSTANDING.  Especially Curtis who was cool & calm & knew his job.  Routine for him but he saved my day & the family.  Really excellent work & Curtis I have your card.  Will definitely use you in the future.  Thanks to the Supe Chris too.  Great all around service.  Thanks Maine Electric!  Btw I hate losing $$$ but the price was very fair for this emergency.

We've used Maine Electric for two homes over the past few years & spent in the $7,000 + range. We telephoned today to request an estimate to have an outdoor receptacle placed for a hot tub (wiring already existing). The woman stated she would send someone out to give an estimate for a fee of $80 (??).  We did not have that experience the last two times we've contacted Maine. Making the experience even more surprising and disheartening was the rude woman who answered the phone. Will not use Maine again... no customer loyalty and customer service is less than desirable (especially considering paying top dollar).

I had a networking need to hardwire my smart TV's with the router and use ethernet connections instead of wifi as the drop in connection was frustrating while streaming from internet.

I am very happy that I called Maine electric for the job. The estimate was little more than I had expected, but the service was very good. The work was professional and finished in time. Now the drop signals are gone and viewing exprience is very good. No more dropped connections.

They ran the cables underneath my house to 2 rooms. Any hole in the was patched.

I would recommend Maine electric for any electric work and would call them for future work, if needed.

Maine Electric came to our rescue after experiencing catastrophic electrical damage from a wind storm that hit Saratoga, CA, Thursday night, April 6.   All Maine Electric team members were very responsive, professional and conscientious, and they did a great job repairing the storm damage to our electrical circuit breaker box.  One person that we'd like to call out is Darryl.  Darryl went above and beyond to work all the bureaucratic coordination necessary between the Saratoga City office for permitting and inspections, and then again with PG&E to ensure that our electrical outage did not go beyond the 4 days/nights that we were without electricity.   Darryl is a true asset to Maine Electric and certainly is key in helping them maintain their Diamond Certified Award status.   This company, and their employees, demonstrate true professionalism and expertise in their craft to prove to us that they should continue to win that award again and again.  We highly recommend Maine Electric, Inc., out of Livermore, CA for any and all electrical work.  Hats off to Maine Electric!!!

Our home was built in the 50s and our outside electrical panel was original. I went outside and saw smoke pouring from it. We called PG&E who had to disconnect our electricity until the panel was replaced. It was a Sunday. We called Maine Electrical and they were out here within two hours. The panel had to be replaced. It was a huge job because of required upgrades and grounding codes. They were wonderful, very courteous and efficient. Everything they did was explained to us in detail. Thank you especially to Sal and Mark. We highly recommend them.

Work was good quality and technician was friendly and professional.  So what's the problem. The problem is pricing - for 12 hours of work doing minor repairs (fixing and replacing plugs, replacing existing fans with new, replacing lights, replacing motion detectors) the price was about $250 per hour.  If the work had been not been trivial, maybe the high price would make sense.  If it required complex diagnostics, then maybe it would make sense.  If they had to provide supplies other than a couple of plugs, maybe it would make sense.  But the work was as simple as simple could be.  When I tried to raise my concerns with management, they didn't bother to get back to me.  So, lesson learned - get bids from multiple electricians and expect the bids to be in line with the difficulty of the job.

I have been having a lot of work done on my house, and Mark was the most professional of all the people who have done work for me.  He ran an electrical line to a difficult location in order for an appliance to be installed and fixed a series of outlets downstairs that did not work.  I wouldn't hesitate to call your company again when I need electrical work.

We recently used this company to find an electrical glitch that disrupted power to our garage. Their rep could not have been more professional and tenacious. He found (and this was corroborated by our association's manager) that the junction box on the street was filled with water and had shorted out the electricity. He fixed it and didn't charge us one penny -- wouldn't even take the Girl Scout cookies we tried to unload on him! Old-fashioned service with high-tech and highly-trained reps!

We have used Maine electric several times at our house. Yes, they are expensive; but my experience with other electricians tells me that their work is well worth it. They are extremely competent; they leave a job in good working order and very clean and neat; their estimates of time are about as good as one can expect. Our work has ranged from very minor to pretty extensive. I have never felt that anything was left in anything but excellent condition. This is what top of the line electrical work should look like; and I expect to pay top of the line prices. By the way, a lot of their work has involved redoing the work of less competent electricians that have worked on our house over the past many years. I would now only go to Maine Electric for this sort of work.

Maine Electric was very prompt and the electrician looked very professional.  He recommended that we replace the whole electrical panel because two outlets were constantly tripping for ~$1600.  When I asked if I would need a permit for such a major job, he said no.   I called the city immediately to confirm because it just didn't sit well with me.  The electrician then changed his tune and said the city will always say you need a permit.  When I told him that I am going to get another estimate, he said other electricians would just replace the GFCI outlet for a couple of hundred dollars.   Red flags were going off everywhere so I decided to pay the fee just for him to come out and get another estimate.  And I am glad I did.   That electrician did NOT replace the panel because the circuit breakers inside were in perfect condition.  He showed us what was wrong and fixed the problem for $125.

I had Maine Electric out yesterday to do some work for us and I have to say I was very impressed. It started with a quote from Ethan the day before, who came to the house after I called him to look at some ceiling fans that we wanted controlled by switches and a heat lamp we wanted installed in our master bathroom. It's an old house, so while Ethan was here he showed me some other things that should be addressed, like the panel outside which had breakers doubled up and was starting to singe from them overheating - major fire hazard, we also weren't grounded for lightning strikes. Ethan was honest, not pushy, the circuit box was a safety issue, no question, and we agreed to have a crew come out and replace it, install a grounding rod, and handle the original list of upgrades. I thought the price was reasonable for what we were getting, you don't mess with electrical, you want it done right the first time and that's what these guys do.

Tim and his crew arrived promptly at 8 the next morning and set to work, they worked the entire day, very professional, very neat, they leave your house cleaner than when they arrive practically. Tim took the time to review the work order with me one last time before they got started, very good customer service with this company, patient, polite, your job is their top priority when they're there. At the end of the day, we have a brand new circuit panel outside that will grow with the house and our family, all labeled, all safe and done right. The ceiling fans work, my wife has her heat lamp in our bathroom, and we're grounded (one less thing to do when we re-pipe the house). Overall I was very impressed with everyone from Maine Electric from start to finish and the work speaks for itself. Are they pricey? I don't think so, not for the quality and service you get. When it comes to electrical you want the best and that's what you get with Maine Electric.

Don't bother calling for commercial work, as I was informed they don't do it. Which is fine and if you read their website carefully it does say residential electrician.  However, the woman who answered the phone was less than helpful, told me to go look in the phone book. Guess I won't be calling them for my residential work either.

I should have read the reviews before I made the appointment to have them come out to see why the stove flipped the breaker.  After diagnosing the problem, the electrician informed me that I needed a completely new panel and that he would only put the new breaker in temporarily until he could get back out to install the new panel which would cost almost $2,000.  He also required a 20 % deposit, which I gave him.  After checking with other professionals, I am aware now that he only needed to put the new circuit breaker in.  I canceled the appointment for the new panel and was charged almost $300 for the one breaker he did put in.  Find another Electrical Company!  The office staff are remarkably nice and helpful and I was told I will get a partial refund.

Although I think they are expensive, I am more than willing to pay their rates. As others have noted, they are Diamond Certified and having used them three times in the past three years, I can attest to each of the reps being very good. Each called before arriving, letting me know when to expect them, very neat, left the area in as good, if not better condition than found, and made sure I was satisfied before they left. Actually got a thank you note a few days later. When was the last time one got something like that? Highly recommend them.

Dear Reader:
My husband and I just hired Maine Electric to complete a gigantic job on our 1963 Dream Home which desperately needed electrical upgrading as you can imagine!  I highly recommend this company.  The company is diamond certified and this is the quality of work you can count on from the company!  My husband did his research and obtained several diamond certified companies to provide bids.  My husband and I hired Maine who fulfilled everything they contracted to do.  The technicians, Mr. Rivas and Mr. Nguyen were professional, efficient, and friendly.  I very much appreciated the work done as it reflected respect for my beloved home.  They did not leave until the job was done and the clean up afterwards was outstanding.  These professionals left our home better than when they found it!  By the way, we love our new electrical panel and all of the work we had done.  We will definitely call on Maine Electric for our future electrical jobs on our home.  We will also recommend them to our neighbors and friends as well!

The worst experience I've ever had in dealing with a company. I have an appointment for someone to come in Walnut Creek, set aside the afternoon for it. The guy calls me before heading out, I waited and waited and waited and finaly called him back, he tells me he went to Pleasanton!!!! Wrong address!!! Didn't even call me to tell me he messed up!! Then, he says his office will call to reschedule, I never got a call back even after I called the office back myself. I think I'm in a wrong business, should've been an electrician but then again it wouldn't work because I'M NOT A FLAKE!!!

I used maine once before, and thought they were reasonable, so I called them when I heard arching in my circuit box one night. It was 6 o clock, so it was an after hours call, but I didn't want my house burning down..Ethan showed up an hour later, checked it out then said the 20 amp circuit breaker had failed, because the circuit was overloaded. The failed CB he said had damaged the box, and the entire box needed replacing... however he said because it backed up to a living space it would have to be relocated, to the other side of the garage, and we would need to run new copper wiring and replace the main box also...Hmmm...Ok I'm not an electrician, however I am a Honda certified master automobile technician, who has spent the last 30 years specializing in Drivablity and ELECTRICAL on cars...Ethan showed me a smudge of dark carbon on the bakelight inner box insulation, and said it compromised the entire box...he also said the bus bar showed signes of overheating, I could tell he was full of it...He had a fluke meter set next the box, so I asked how many amps was the circuit drawing, and why didn't it trip the circuit breaker? He also wanted to split the circuit for the circuit breaker...He then said well I actually never checked how many amps were on the circuit...Long story short, he gave me an estimate, for 9600 dollars, then worked it down to 3600 if I ok'd the work tonight...Needless to say, I paid him, then called a reputable electrician, who replace the failed circuit breaker, plus three more that looked a little old and suspect, tighten the bus bar, and wiring, told me there wasn't anything wrong with the wiring, the box, or the main box, and gave me a bill for 250 bucks, which I gladly paid..Maine charged me 125 bucks and left me without power to half my house for 5 days..I have an appointment in two weeks to split the circuit, and run an outlet for my garage door...the estimate for that was 500 bucks...Never again will I call these people..

I needed to replace 2 ceiling fans and one was on a high ceiling so I needed an electrican to do it for me.  I checked my diamond certified book and found Maine and then checked their yelp review which were very positive.   I didn't bother to shop around.   They arrived on time and performed the work well.  Al was super friendly and very helpful.  I had a remote kit for one fan and Al said that it might not install properly because the fan mount was on an angled ceiling.  He recommended a wall switch so I ran out and picked one up at the local hardware store and he installed it.   I actually like that configuration much better than the remote for that room.  I had purchased both of the fans myself.   And after they were installed I had a little trouble with one.  The problem was the fan itself and not the installation.  Maine came back to help me resolve that problem.   This is one of the best experiences I've had with a contractor and will recommend them to anyone.
