Half of our house just lost power, so I called JR Electric for help, inspired by the other reviews here on Yelp.

I described what the situation was like, and David recommended I call PG&E; he suspected a phase issue. He added that he'd be happy to help if it turned out there was something else wrong, but to start there, and pronto.

And he was right. PG&E just fixed it, and it has barely been an hour. They had a loose connection at the street, up on their wire, and now everything is good to go.

JR Electric saved our afternoon with the right advice, right away.

I'll be calling them back next time I need an electrician, cuz ya know, there's always a next time. You just know it.

Needed smart dimmer installed scheduled an appointment. David gave an update on the eta within scheduled time . Arrived promptly. Wore shoe covers . He and his son were very nice and polite, got to work right away. Completed the job within 15 minutes. Made sure everything works correctly .

Awesome, awesome job for David and his team!
I have carbon monoxide issue last year, in two months, I've been inviting a lot of electric technicians (those who are with good reviews on Yelp) to my home, none of them can solve the problem yet charge me unreasonably. Finally my agent introduced David to me. He is nice, responsive, professional with good price. And he saved my life again yesterday, quickly responsive to solve my unstoppable chirping problem. Absolutely stellar workmanship and high level of integrity regarding my experience with JR Electric. I had two different jobs from JR Electric and not only are they very responsive and informative and respective, but also the work is of top tier quality. The people that they employ here (Sergio, Juan, the owner) are master at their craft. I am a very hard person to please as I feel that improvements can always be made. However, the work I received here I can firmly state that the closest level of perfection has been achieved.

I cannot say enough about how happy I am with his service. It started out with replacing a doorbell transformer to power the ring doorbell, which led to a few other minor glitches (not his fault), and he helped all the way through. JR Electric was one of 5 businesses that I contacted to get recessed lighting installed. Upon answering my call David immediately came over to assess the work to be done. He offered the best price and scheduled exactly when we asked. He arrived with his team when he told us he would arrive and took care with our property. David made sure that he limited the costs and damage necessary to install 14 lights. We were completely inexperienced in getting electrical work done and David took the best care of us. His team also made sure to leave everything as clean as when he arrived. We would absolutely do business with JR Electric again!

I can 100% understand why this place has so many 5 star reviews. I called a few minutes ago in panic because half of my outlets/lights went out. I explained the situation nearly in tears because I couldn't imagine having someone come in the house during COVID (we have a high-risk patient).

As someone who knows nothing about this stuff, he could have easily charged me and even told me I needed to pay something to hear his advice. But he didn't. He told me it's simple and I just needed to flick a switch back on again. Then he in-detail went over how to do it and told me what not to touch. He also told me if I have trouble, to give him a call again.

I'm beyond grateful and can't believe that this just happened. After all the bad things that happened during COVID, this was probably the highlight of my year. Can you believe people like this exist? We have so many insane lights around this house and I'm thinking of doing a remodel after COVID is over. Hands-down you have my business and everyone-I-know's business forever. I had a very large, heavy, chandelier hanging from a 19' ceiling that I needed replaced and JR Electric came through! They wore their masks, and put down cloth to protect my hardwood floors from the scaffolding needed to reach the junction box.

Over priced. Changed a simple breaker, took less than one hour and charged over $200. Oh and they were late and didn't even call, just showed up. I would not recommend
Response to David: #1- nobody ever expects anything for free so point not taken. #2- we didn't ask for two electricians. One held the flashlight. #3- don't give a quote explaining the amount would be applied towards the labor and then charge more when the job turns out to be simple. #4- we had to pay for two breakers when the problem was only one but they couldn't find the part so hey, why not, customer is paying anyway. Sorry to break your 5 star rating. Truth is truth!

I have worked with lots of contractors in the past and they are always a mixed bag. My entire experience with JR Electric has been nothing but pleasant. Responses were timely and there was no pressure tactics, unnecessary work, etc.

David and his team came and diligently and carefully did their work in the house to install recessed lighting. Some contractors treat the house as if it were a construction site but I never got that feeling with JR electric. The team was very easy to work with and they got the job done quickly and efficiently.

I would have no problems recommending them to others we know.

David and Sergio are quick, responsive and their service is great. I had a malfunctioning dimmer switch and I reached out to JR Electric via Yelp. David responded to my Yelp message pretty quickly. From then on, it was extremely smooth co-ordination and we agreed that he would send en electrician to fix my switch the next day. However, later in the day I smelt something burning near the switchboard and so I was a little concerned. I sent a message to David about this. He understood my concern and sent Sergio within the next 30 minutes. Sergio arrived on time with a spare switch. He replaced my old switch efficiently and quickly. He also came with a mask on - which we really appreciated considering the current pandemic situation.

The price was reasonable too. I'd highly recommend this business to anyone looking for any electrical services.

Daniel was great! I needed a outlet in my garage and we had the existing conduit from the panel to the wall but it had 6x 90 degree angles!!! and was a flexible pipe so pulling wire through that was a nightmare. He figured out a way to get it from the panel to an adjacent wall in the Garage and did an excellent job adjusting to the circumstances. His crew cleaned up and fixed the drywall holes he had to make. I appreciated his honesty and his knowledge about how to get the job done within budget. Next time I have another electrical request I'm contacting him, not even going to bother get quotes as he was very competitive and the quality of he work speaks for itself. Very happy.

This is the first time I used JR Electric. We had a bath room light that had been going out. On last Tuesday I heard a pop and the breaker was tripped. Not sure if we had a bigger electrical problem. Dave answered my call right away and came out the next day. They checked all. They repaired one wire inside the outlet for the light. I was so impressed with their quality of work. They were reasonable too. I also lied that they wore masks too. Will keep them as my new electricians. I also liked that they explained the wiring inside the outlet. Sergio, the visiting electrician, arrived right within the timeframe, and effectively got the problem fixed within an hour or so. He also patiently answered my questions and gave me professional advices on the options to upgrade electricity of my house.

I called JR Electric around 9am and explained the problem with my malfunctioning landscape lighting. David was very courteous and promised to stop by later in the day to asses the issue. Sure enough he showed up with his assistant. They were able to troubleshoot the problem within 15 minutes (bad GFI box) and wrapped up the fix within half an hour. Superb service! I called JR Electric on Friday when I needed my circuit breaker changed after it turned out that it was affecting my AC short cycling. It was a heat wave and my family and I were literally dying in the house. They came the same day of me calling them and they replaced it and put some liquid on my coils to make sure it runs properly. David from JR Electric responded to my call immediately. We set up an appointment and David and Sergio arrived promptly, wearing masks, and courteously donned shoe coverings before entering my home. I had 4 kitchen outlets that hadn't worked in years because a previous contractor shorted one outlet which affected the other 3. We had already called two electricians who couldn't fix the problem. David determined that one outlet had mixed up wiring and another outlet had wiring problems as well. I forgot all the technical wording. Lol. David and Sergio had all the parts needed to fix all 4 outlets. I am one happy camper! I will call him again to install two new lighting fixtures in the near future. Thank you JR Electric!

In 2018 I was provided with excellent service on my old mobile home. The cost was very reasonable. In 2021 I needed help again because the power went out in certain areas of the house. I had no wifi, TV or phone. I called JR Electric and they were able to come out in a day and one half. They diagnosed the problem as a loose neutral wire in the circuit breaker box and tightened it. They only charged me for a service call.

A lot of times when I call a service person they want to upsell repairs to rebuild my old mobile home. I'm not going to upgrade this old place - just repair what is necessary. JR Electric did not try to sell me on rewiring my house and other unnecessary repairs. They are thoughtful and honest. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them in the future.

Really impressed by the professionalism and quality of work of JR Electric. David & Sergio are both super friendly and knowledgeable. We had 3 new outlets, a Ring motion light, and wiring for 2 exterior house lights installed by them. We got 3 quotes and found their pricing to be the most reasonable.

The work was completed in one day and they even took the time to add new wiring near the garage light/door lift because it was unsafely hooked up via an extension cord. They also installed the actual Ring light for us at the end, even though the estimate stated they would only do the wiring. Definitely appreciate their willingness to help out and wouldn't hesitate to contact them again.

We are so impressed with JR Electric! Our dryer stopped working, and we learned that our outlet was only putting out 120v and not 240. I contact JR because of all the positive Yelp reviews on Friday morning, and they got back to me very quickly and set up an appointment for that day at 2pm! Two workers showed up, fully gloved and masked, right on time. They diagnosed the problem and were able to replace the broken breaker just a little later. I highly recommend!

We had an emergency tonight and half of our condo didn't have working lights. I came to our trusty Yelp for an electrician and found David. He was at another emergency call but came right over when he was finished.

I really take pleasure writing a 5 star review when we receive outstanding service, especially in our home.

Right away David discovered BURNED wired in the wall in our bedroom behind the switch plate. OMG, we're so lucky that we didn't have a fire! You could look in and see there had been a fire that had obviously burned itself out.

He replaced the wires and made a neat plate where he had to replace more in the wall.

We're very grateful that he came out past regular hours and made our place home again.

We gave him a tip for, well, everything!

It was a great pleasure to work with David Garcia of JR Electric. He showed up on time and gave me an estimate for a job that involved fixing some poorly done work before we moved into the house. He quickly assessed the situation and even made changes in his schedule to get our job done ASAP to leverage the fact that we were having concrete poured and needed to dig a trench to put the electrical lines under the ground (not looped around the top of the house - as it was done when we moved in!!!). He was very pleasant and accommodating some slight changes in his scope to add a few other items. He was extremely professional and completed the job on time and within the budget. I have used JR Electric many times to address electrical issues in the never-ending updates to our aging home. Without exception, they are communicative, arrive on time, are professional, do an outstanding job at a fair price, and I always appreciate that they keep the work area clean.

On one especially hot summer Saturday I called JR Electric in a panic because my dryer, oven and air conditioning were not turning on: they gave up time on their weekend to brave the miserable beach traffic to assist. On another occasion, I was told that I would need to cut a large hole in drywall to address an electrical issue and while it would have been easy for JR Electric to just agree with that plan and start cutting, they fixed the problem without the need for extensive drywall repair.

I contacted several electricians from yelp and David from JR was the most responsive. I had electric go out in my upstairs and found that bottom breakers on my panel were damaged and burned out at the bottom. David came out quickly and diagnosed that contractors had miswired the bottom breakers during a kitchen remodel and cheated so they would not have to expand the panel. He quoted a reasonable price to replace the panel which is difficult in covid times because parts are hard to get and more expensive than normal. They guys who came out to replace the panel were great, professional, and went to extremes to get a couple additional parts to complete the job same day. Keeping their card as I would call these folks again in a minute for any future electrical jobs I need.

Update April 24. We had a overhead garage lamp ballast go out, call them that morning and he showed up around 1. He had the ballast replaced in about 20 minutes and I got great service once again! Thanks.

I would absolutely recommend David and his crew. We initially contacted them because of their positive Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. David came in person to evaluate our space and give a reliable quote, he was very responsive, and he was flexible with our scheduling. He booked us for two days but he and his crew worked from 8:30-5:30 and finished our job in just one day with very minimal damage to our drywall and hardly any mess in our house. They installed 10 recessed lights (4 of which required removing an old wooden light box first) and 2 pendants and also swapped in a new chandelier. I found David and his crew to be extremely professional -- prepared, fast, considerate, friendly, and not trying to oversell us. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who needs help with their lighting projects. Thank you, David!

These guys showed up at my house right on time. Prior to the appointment, they did a good job coordinating via SMS. When they showed up to my home, they were polite and very respectful through the whole process.

I showed them what needed to be done, and I asked them for a quote on adding grounding for few outlets in my home, and adding neutral wire to some light switches.

The ballpark quote I got was ~$300 per output for grounding them, which is approximately 3 times as high as other licensed contractors I found on Yelp. I cannot blame JR Electric for trying to make money, but I found this quote to be a bit too high.

I would advise anyone browsing reviews to make sure you get enough quotes before selecting a contractor.

We had bought a new induction cooktop in preparation for a kitchen renovation. But the old cooktop died before the renovation could start and we needed a quick install. I called JR based on Yelp reviews. David scheduled a 1-hr window for the next day and showed up on time. He and Sergio were knowledgeable, experienced and competent. They had to do some chipping of tile base and sawing of cabinet frame that protruded into the cooktop cutout so the new one would fit. They handled that well, got all the electrical done well and left us with a perfectly installed new cooktop. Communications were great throughout the entire process. I didn't compare prices, so I can't comment on that aspect, but for the time spent I think it was a reasonable price. I'd definitely use them again.

I encountered a tricky problem in master bed room electric outlets, and need to hire a competent electrician to fix it. Looking through internet, one comment caught my eyes. The author wrote that when he called an electrician to make an appointment, the electrician guided him to resolve the problem through phone for free. I decided to use this electrician, David of JR Electric to do my work. Since his schedule was full, the appointment had to be a week later. It was worth the waiting. I already know he is good from other customers' feedback, still my experience of his work has been above my expectations.
First, he identified the outlet that caused the problem and fixed it effectively. He not only fixed the problem, but also made the bedroom switch more convenient to use. He also checked other outlets in the bed room to make sure they are fine. He is really care for customers.

During the appointment they repaired a broken dimmer switch -- they found the problem and quickly fixed it.

We replaced the 400 amp main panel and installed a transfer switch for our backup generator. The permitting process is a lengthy one and so is the coordination with PG&E. David and his partner took care of all of it and the actual installation was completed within 2 days. I was happy with the end result and comfortable with the price they quoted. I called David after two circuits in our house blew over two days during a heat spell (had no idea we were running two swamp coolers on the same circuit, oops!). He and his son came out the next day to look at the issue and give me a quote. We weren't sure whether we would have to rewire any of the locations so I think the estimate was fair, and David was very good about explaining what he would do.

They came back on a Saturday and spent a few hours locating the issues, repairing and replacing where needed. They had to cut holes in the walls but put covers over them before they left so we can take our time learning how to repair drywall :) Got our power restored and were very professional. I hope we don't need to call them back out again, but if I do have future electrician needs, I will definitely give them a call.

I am very handy and can recognize a good handyman from a great handyman. David & Sergio fit the latter. Beginning with placing pads everywhere they would walk on to their attention to details such as packing the wires neatly inside the enclosure. This review should have been written a long time ago. When my husband and I first moved into our house over four years ago one of the first things we wanted done was ceiling fans through out the house and recessed lighting instead of the 70s style hanging lights. We had been dealing with contractors on different projects and David was a breathe of fresh air. He returned phone calls and messages in a timely manner, he showed up when he said he would, and his work was always great. We have dealt with so many flakey contractors over the years that I am so grateful for David. In addition we have had him come out several other times over the years to help on other projects and he has always been just as reliable. I will always contact him if I need an electrician and I would definitely recommend him.

The Best $450 Ever Spent.....

Pros: Excellent detectives. On time. Explained how they'd proceed. Reasonable cost. Nice guys.
Cons: None.

NOTE: This problem was like a science experiment. Agony of distress blared from alarms which worked fine. In the end, it was a faulty CO2 alarm sending signals to nearby smoke alarms - although the CO2 box itself did not make the slightest sound.

My wife and I arrived home exhausted from our 10 day vacation. You know the feeling. One vacation leaves you so tired you need another. We opened the door from our garage into the house and guess what? Sirens were blaring.

We quickly figured it was not our burglar alarm going crazy, but one or more of our fire/carbon monoxide alarms. I dropped the luggage and changed the battery in the 2 most likely culprits. No success. So we turned to Yelp and called the highest rated electrician in San Jose...Electrical Residential Services...also know as JR Electric. My wife spoke to David, the owner, who said he could make an emergency visit in about 3 hours at 7 PM.

David arrived at 645 PM...examined the situation and concluded a 2 person team would need to return the next morning around 9 AM to inspect each alarm ( if required )...including one in the ceiling 18 feet above the ground. His estimate was $450 and we agreed.

The nightmare continued. We had irregular blasts from at least 2 directions which prevented us, and probably our neighbors, from getting any sleep. Stranger still...although one suspicious alarm was removed from the ceiling and stripped of its battery...it continued to honk on the kitchen counter through the night. Was our house haunted?

The following morning, David's son and an assistant arrived on time with a huge ladder from the nearby Home Depot ( part of the estimate ). They replaced batteries, bought 2 new alarms and got the screeching to blare less often, but restful sleep didn't look likely for a second night.

While I was at work, my wife exchanged messages with David who was on a job in South San Francisco. He said I'll be there by 6 PM.

David arrived at 545 PM, waited for his son and the helper to arrive with their truck and tools and snapped on his detective hat. Through a process of elimination, they determined each of the smoke alarms was fine! But why the torture chamber noise? Then they inspected a CO2 alarm WHICH HAD NOT MADE ONE PEEP during the last 24 hours and discovered the battery had died.

David and his guys did not give up even when it seemed all possibilities led to a dead end. And, despite more visits and longer hours than expected, the original estimate of $450 was the final cost.

Overall, David and his team met the criteria to earn 5 stars, including:
- Arrived on time or earlier
- Explained what needed to be done before doing it
- Completed the work with a minimum of fuss and delay
- No harm to the house
- Nice guys
- Stuck to their original estimate

We would trust David and Electrical Residential Services with any electrical related needs or problems.

My husband and I highly recommend David Garcia and his son!!
It can be very challenging to find an electrician last minute. Of course we turned to Yelp and saw that David Garcia had a very high rating. We were not disappointed!!
After speaking to my husband, David gave a time frame and was right on time. He put on shoe covers as a courtesy that we greatly appreciated. (He wasn't asked to do this, its just part of the exemplary service he provides.)
After spending a good 30 minutes he was unable to find any problems. Of course our lights worked perfectly once he showed up. He was very thorough and left us feeling good with his very thorough detective work. He checked and tested everything.
He then refused any payment, even though he spent time traveling to our residence and spent an additional 30 + minutes going through everything.

David was very upfront with the cost. And told us no matter how long it took to fix, there would be no additional charges. Because several lights were out upstairs and downstairs. I had no idea where the problem was. So David had to check every light fixtures and outlet in my house. He was very through and finally found the issue. Also he fixed and cleaned up the wiring of my fuse box at no additional charge.

We had David install recess lighting in our new living room with a dimmer switch and move a light switch around which took half a day. From the start, he was very easy to work with. I had 15 recessed lights and 5 closet lights to have installed. I got bids for 5 electricians here on yelp. David was straight forward from the start. He provided his written bid on the spot, no going back to the office to work the numbers.

David's price was half the other electricians on yelp. He offers to help me save more money by having me buy the lights at Home Depot. He offered, at no charge, to meet me at the store and guide me.

At every step David was on time and kind. I felt very comfortable with him in my house. He was kind and gentle to my family, always professional.

I could not be present during all the work, David, without me having to ask, kept me updated, sending photos of the progress. Who does that! I was so impressed with the constant, clear communication!

The quality of work was perfect. No wall damage, everything measured and placed with laser precision.

When David and his assistant were cutting the holes in the ceiling for the recessed lights, they not only took the care to lay down plastic across the entire floor, but they also held a box under the hole to capture the debris, there was never any mess. I could actually be comfortable whole they worked, no hacking in drywall dust.

I will hire David again, from the first phone call to him driving off in his clean van. I know I paid the best price and got the best service.

We hired David to install low voltage lighting in the backyard. He ran a main line down from the breaker box to a low voltage transformer where all the lights are connected. All the electrical connectivity is very well done.

David is honest and reasonable. He backs up his work with good customer service.

After all the lights were installed, we decided that we would like to add one more. David said he would drop by and install the light for us at no extra charge. He also works with you to make sure you are happy with the light placement.

We are happy with our new backyard lights. We'll definitely use David again.

David & Team are now my default go-to electrician for any future issue. I hired them based on Yelp reviews alone, and now here I am, adding a 5-star yelp review of my own, which I don't do very often.

He came over with his team of two guys to tackle a sauna install. They were all kind, professional, DETAIL ORIENTED, had high standards, and cut no corners with my project (Sauna/outdoor panel/disconnect hookups). Also, their price was spot-on, given the number of man-hours involved.

As an experienced multi-home owner (having been burned plenty of times before), I typically watch over contractors LIKE A HAWK to address issues, mistakes, and shortcuts as they happen, and to ensure my standards are met. These guys, however, worked at a controlled, certain, and safe pace. I literally had nothing to stress about, it was a pleasant experience and they delivered 10/10. The end result absolutely exceeded my expectations and I have complete trust in the durability of their work. Every crimp, tape, & screw received attention, and his team vacuumed the work site afterwards.

David built himself a solid reputation/company, and I wish these guys continued success. Will do whatever I can to spread the word and make referrals.

I had a 9am appointment with David and I received a text message at 9:30 stating that he would be at my home between 10 and 10:30 after working a 24-hour long shift and coming home staying up waiting for this appointment and then to get a text notification 30 minutes after my appointment that he going be an hour late I think this is disrespectful and no respect for time management... I would not deal with this company!!! I don't understand how they have good reviews please read all of their reviews before you select them...

I've had David and his son compete two jobs for me. One was a big job. I hired him to install garden lights both in front and in back of my house. The second time I hired him to install a large ceiling fan in our family room.. And, when I recently had a problem with one of my garden lights, they came out and fixed it at no charge.

I can't say enough good things about David, his son and their work. The work was impeccable. There were completely reliable and a pleasure to work with. David's prices are reasonable. I'm so glad we found him. It is great knowing that I have a reliable and fair electrician that I can count on.

This review is for a visit David and his son made to our house last year, and we were so pleased I told him I'd write a review...but I put it on the back burner and forgot about it. So even though it's a bit late, I owe him this review. David and his son came to our house last year when we lost power to several outlets in the house. I knew it was a loose or shorted neutral, but I just couldn't find it. With an old home, it's difficult to tell where the wiring is running. However David and his son spend whatever time was needed and went through all my junction boxes until they found and fixed the problem. In terms of how they carried themselves, they were both very respectful and genuinely caring. I just can't say enough positive things about them. I highly recommend them and will use them again for my future electrical needs.

I called for an appointment. We agreed on a time. He said to text him my address. I texted him in the afternoon, and he said I was supposed to text him right after our call. He did not make this clear. He than texted me the name of another electrician but no contact information. We agreed upon a time, he should not have given my appointment away or made himself more clear when we spoke that he needed it right away. When I asked him for another appointment he did not even try to accommodate, he just gave me the name of another electrician, but no contact info. For all of the great reviews I would have expected better service.

I'm very happy with the work they did.

I was trying to get the outlets done over the weekend and they could accommodate me in a short notice.

David and his assistant came on time, gave me an estimate that was reasonable. I have had extra work that needed to happen and they could do it on the same day.

The work was immaculate. All the gluing and taping the wire connections were perfect.

I had some issues with a pipe that went through the line. David explained how we can reduce the work by not going around it, even though it was gonna reduce his cost.

I am really happy about the work and I would hire him again in a heartbeat

I contacted David in the morning, explained the issue with the electrical in the master suite addition we did about 2 years ago, and showed up the same afternoon and fixed the problem. He explained everything, and was very clear with possible options, depending on what would be discovered when everything is checked. Needed an electrician for a wiring / short problem in the house, where the breaker would not re-set. Checked here on Yelp and found all the positive reviews on David from Electrical Residential Services so decided to give him a try based on the reviews.

Was not disappointed at all, Called and booked an appointment for the same day, and received a call a couple of hours later that David and his team were on their way earlier then scheduled, which was a pleasant surprise.

When David arrived explained and showed the room with the issue, and David begin to trouble shoot the problem, they found the issue within about 15 minutes (short in the wire between the wall switch and outlet.) After finding the issue, asked if they would look at another electrical problem that i had with a switch and outlet.

Again they begin to trouble shoot and found the issue within about 10 minutes (broken connector on Wall switch) which they repaired. After making the repairs and testing everything, David walked me around to each wall switch and outlet and had me watch while he tested them to show that they worked.

They were very courteous, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, they answered several questions that i had during their trouble shooting. The estimate / rate was very fair and less then what i had expected based on previous Electrical work. David also didn't charge me for the second fix / repair, but only charged the original rate / estimate.

Would highly recommend to anyone if needing a Electrician to give David a call, do not think you would be disappointed.

Ok- here's a lesson that probably many of you know... find out where your wires are before hanging your TV! We didn't and wouldn't you know that I picked the spot on the wall that would perfectly puncture our wires (not one but three). Dave and Sergio came out and fixed everything while consulting me on the way. Here's my highlights:
- Fast at responding- answered my call at 2pm and made an appt for next day at 10am
- Great at communicating - called me at 8:30 to say they could be over earlier if that was alright. Other issues came up and he let know what was happening to ensure I understand and agreed.
- Fantastic at solving the problem- did not leave until it was complete!

Excellent Service! Don't look anywhere else. I called over 10 other electricians and they either didn't have time or they were too expensive. David at JR Electric answered my call right away, scheduled me for the following day, and gave me a reasonable price. He and his also great assistance came and installed a chandelier in my daughter's bedroom. They put on the blue covers over their shoes before entering and covered the ground and did a very clean job. They were both very professional, courteous, and knew exactly what to do. JR Electric is an outstanding electrician. I had security cameras installed and was dealing with an electrical issue. David the owner was very good communicating all the necessary steps along the way. Also his associate Sergio did great job as well. While getting quotes from other vendors I was told that JR Electric is the company to go to. I guess the other company felt that what I needed was not really the type of work they do. We are so grateful to have found JR Electric! They are responsive, personable, professional and did great work for a reasonable price. One evening we smelled a terrible burning smell and then the lights and fans in both bathrooms went out mysteriously without tripping the breaker. After doing a little investigating ourselves we called another electrician who came by the next day. He told us that he couldn't find the problem and suggested that we just replace the wiring to the bathrooms and cut off the old wiring. He left promising to text a quote for the work. When the quote didn't arrive by the next afternoon (it still hasn't arrived) we called JR, desperate to have the problem properly diagnosed, for safety reasons, and fixed. They were doing work in the area so Sergio was able to come by within the hour. He told us that they would start investigating and keep looking until they found the problem. He called in help and got started right away, at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. They had the problem diagnosed, fixed and were on their way by 7:45. We slept well assured that we wouldn't have wires burning up in our attic over the weekend.

I called JR electric because my AC circuit breaker kept going out. They came out and said it wasn't a problem with the AC - I needed a new panel. I was hesitant because this was going to be a big expense, but I went with it anyway. I'm so glad I did my AC is working fine and we haven't had any problems since. Sergio and David went way above and beyond with helping me with this big endeavor. PG&E canceled on the day that my panel was to be replaced. They stayed on site all day until I could get someone out to turn the power off. They were patient and understanding with my needing to work with PG&E and the city inspector. They are very dedicated, their prices are fair, and they did an excellent job. I highly recommend JR electric for your electrical needs.

I highly recommend this company. David and his crew did a great job rewiring my sub-panel that controls the pool equipment. They worked all day last Sunday until after dark outside in the cold to get it done. My Pool maintenance guy was thoroughly impressed and asked for their contact info. David is very responsive and makes sure the job is done correctly. I think their prices were very reasonable.

The issue I had was that the 30 yr. old underground conduit connecting the main to the sub deteriorated and collapsed destroying the wiring. David's team did a great job to replace it without having to deal with underground conduit and concrete.

Kitchen renovation sucks! But it's harder when you have an uncle who thinks he is an expert electrician because he was youtube' trained in the art. We called David on the day before sheetrock was supposed to be put in for an additional outlet.

Thank goodness he took a glance at the rest of our wiring and told us we had some issues we had to fix before sheetrock. We didn't even know the wire to our oven was bad -- I guess when you hear a pop, fizzle, sizzle, you should think ut oh.

David and his co-worker worked hard and late to get it done before sheetrock which I truly appreciate.

David is honest, responsive, and he even replies via text messaging - how cool is that?

We will be calling him back for further electric work!

WOW! David took my call and was at my house in 15 minutes. My dryer didn't work and the outlet where the koi pond pump plugs in was charred. He was great at telling me electrical at the dryer site was fine that it was the dryer itself that was faulty. A new GFI and cover was replaced at the koi pond. He understood that without the air pump & waterfalls that there's no oxygen in the water and the fish would have died. He's an animal lover in addition to a great electrician.

David & his team are extraordinary. He's straightforward, prompt, professional. He's THE BEST!!

I had an great experience with JR Electric. I called and did not get an answer so I hung up. Within minutes, David called me back, I explained my tenant was without power and believed the breaker was broken. David was able to meet me at my tenants within an hour, and determined that we needed a new breaker. He checked his van and found a breaker that worked and was able to fix the problem right away.

I just have to review David and his crew, he's a wonderful electrician! I had an issue with my electrical panel (burnt plastic smell) but everything still worked in the home so I didn't get alarmed. I called my home warranty and they sent me a supposed licensed electrician who discovered the burnt breakers. He told me that the warranty doesn't cover it because my panel was overloaded (not true) so he put the burnt breakers back in the panel and left my home. Needless to say I was quite worried. The company wouldn't send him back to fix the issue. So I started calling other electricians. I called David from JR Electric who was on his way to another job, but once he heard my story and what the other individual did, he came right over to my home. I am so grateful that he came by and replaced the burnt breakers. If you need electrical work, I would call David. He's honest, professional and cleaned the area after his work.

Called David on Sunday morning due to a power surge the night before that knocked out power to 2 rooms. David came by within 2 hours and started troubleshooting. He had another job going and asked if he could come back on Monday with one of his employees to work on the issue. He came back today and spent about 5 hours going through all the outlets and light switches looking for the issue, he found it and fixed it! He also gave us some recommendations for our wiring which we will do by calling him!

I needed a bathroom fan replaced with one slightly different and a recessed light added in the shower area. They were available in the time frame I hoped to get it done, got what I needed done, and this was back in October, everything is still working perfectly as expected. Turns out, original bathroom fan vent through the roof was not installed correctly, they brought new vent hose and hooked it up right, and so it's better than ever. My husband and I are DIY people, but if we found a project over our heads again, we'd call David.

From the beginning to the end, David was prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous. He was willing to come take a look at my electrical problem before he quoted me. You think this should be the norm right? Nope, other electricians I called, insisted on charging for the visit even to provide a quote. I guess I could understand since it would be a big waste of time (and time = $$) if I decided not to go with them. Anyway, my issue was a power outage in the bathroom outlet. Well, David spent well over an hour inspecting my house to make sure the outage did not extend beyond my bathroom. It turned out I had two outlets with the same issue. After a few hours of deciding if I should get the issue fixed now or later I decided what the heck.

The next day (yes, he's that prompt and on time), David spent about four hours fixing the issue including making a Home Depot run to make sure I had the appropriate cover for the outlet in the bathroom (it was a safety precaution he wanted me to take seriously)...and the material was at no additional cost to the original quote he provided. Awesome!

Thanks to David, I now can use the bathroom outlet to plug in my hair dryer...I should have called David five years ago. LOL.

Based on the other reviews David probably does really good work. I called David because I needed some electrical work done. Phone call went well, I texted him my address with the agreed upon appointment and no one showed up. I took time out of my day and from work to wait at home from 8-10. Nothing against him or his work, but this kind of thing show lack of professionalism or common courtesy. I would have understood if he told me he was really busy and couldn't help me or at the very least call or text to make different arrangements.

We had an electrical failure on a Saturday morning which couldn't be resolved by resetting the GFI or the fuse box. We purchased a house in July and had a ton of contractors come in and do work. David was one of the best contractors we worked with.

He installed recessed lighting in two living rooms, our kitchen, and three bedrooms. He was on time, finished all the work when he said he was going to, and didn't complain about all the other contractors working in the house at the same time. He took lots of time to walk us through how everything was going to work, and even put stickers on the ceiling so we could see where all the lights were going to go. Everything working exactly as described, no call backs.

Later on we had him install some additional outlets in the kitchen. He was able to do the work quickly before work on the backsplash started. Again, no issues.

We recently had him install an outdoor outlet for christmas lights. Once we saw it installed we were not happy about the placement we had originally agreed on, so David moved it to the other side of the house for no additional charge.

I called David on Saturday about a dryer outlet issue and he came out on a Sunday morning for me after I explained how I couldn't take time off of work during the week. He promptly arrived at 8:30 am Sunday morning, found the problem right away, went to Home Depot for the part and fixed my outlet and breaker. JR Electric did a wonderful job replacing our electric panel. David, the owner, did a wonderful job contacting me via text and phone calls through the entire process. I have two young kids and David's updates through texting was helpful and appreciated. Heads up, replacing your electric panel is a long and painful process, it took a little longer than one month to have the panel replaced. This is due to the fact that PG&E and the city need to be involved. Permits and applications need to be filled out and filed. All three people: electrician, PG&E, and a City inspector need to be present on the same day to replace the panel. There are so many hoops to jump through. Both David and Sergio explained all the steps I needed to do in order to speed up the process. They came a week before to do the pre work as well. If you are needing your panel replaced, go with JR Electric.

I had an old junky fuse box from the 1950's on my house. My former neighbor told me he knew a guy who could take care of upgrading me to a modern breaker unit. David, Jaime and their assistant replaced a ceiling fan and light bulbs for me two days ago on short notice, and I am still marveling at their professional demeanor and unflagging customer service. They got to work with whatever needed to be done, including positioning cumbersome scaffolding in a limited space, then climbing the scaffolding and working at 18' off the floor in order to reach the ceiling fan and the bulbs.

They had another job to do that day, but worked me in toward the end of the day as far as I could tell. I provided them the wrong light bulbs twice and had to run back and forth to Lowe's during heavy traffic while they patiently waited. It was nearly 7:30pm before they were able to leave my place with the work done. They knew I only had the scaffolding rented for that day so had to finish the work that day. Still, how many electricians do you know who would be so kind as to basically work a double shift because of the customer's equipment constraints and the customer's (meaning MY) incompetence at picking out the correct light bulbs? It couldn't have been a picnic for them but they remained focused, constructive and gracious.

David and his team at JR Electric (formerly Electrical Residential Services) are my guys for future electrical needs--although they would probably only work with me again on the condition that I not be the one in charge of light bulbs. :-)

I checked Yelp and Called JR Electric with a GFI problem in the kitchen. They found a way to come to my home that afternoon. David was honest in recommending what needed replacing and what didn't. If you are reading this review, then my house did not burn down. My wife noticed sparks coming out of the junction box that connects to the oven. I called JR Electric and David came out, looked at it, and fixed the problem. Recently, we also had him add an outdoor plug for lighting, wire our barn for electrical and lighting, and add canned lights and sconces to our master bath and butlers pantry. Real nice guy, easy to communicate with, finish work is clean, and prices are very fair. Bottom line, he's our go-to electrician.

During double oven repair, we found the electric wiring was done incorrectly thus contacted David.
He came to our place immediately and gave the estimate quickly.
David and his crew found the cable for oven was for dryer and not safe.
Luckily they could redo the wiring with proper metal connector which is safe for oven.
I feel relieved that we are saved from the possibility of fire.

Yelp came through again! My 89 year-old mother needed an electrician. I, as always, got on Yelp and found David and Electrical Residential Services. He is everything everyone else that's reviewed him has said. Best price, knowledgeable, honest, nice, clean, friendly....

She had a little problem the following day and David came back within a relatively short time (in the middle of his day) and fixed it for nothing.

If you have a senior that needs someone safe, David is that person. My mom felt perfectly comfortable with him by herself (which is not always the case) when he came back.

I just wanted to leave an amazing review for the work that David did. I have a sun room and during the last storm with all the wind and rain ( I love the rain ) the water came in, from the door and I think the wall. Anyway, all the power went out in my room that night, the water got into the outlet and fried something. I called David, he asked me how late he could come by, I told him it did not matter, I just really wanted power in my room. He came over at about 5:30 with his son, ( sweet guy) and figured the problem was the GFI. He spent a good 30-45 min on it, and wala, I had power. He was very professional and has a great work ethic. This review is long overdue. We used David on two separate instances and he was wonderful. His price was very reasonable and he was incredibly professional and honest. It is refreshing to work with someone that has these qualities and I would definitely call David first anytime we have electrical needs. He actually saved us, as we had a dead plug in our garage (when we bought the house we didn't know this) and needed a plug for our dryer that same day. He made it happen even though it was a little complicated. The second instance was that our outdoor plug didn't work. He fixed that as well and always explained our options in both instances.

David and his helper came out to install a 220 volt charger for our electric plug in car. He showed up on time to give us an assessment. It was obvious immediately that he knew what he was doing and explained all our options. He offered several suggestions to save us money.

My daughter and partner bought their first house, an older property, that needed some much needed work. Based on Yelp reviews we contacted David and in a matter of days he conducted a walk through, provided a cost to complete and subsequently completed all of the work needed and then some.
Having bought, fixed up and sold several homes over the years I am very familiar with using contractors and in my opinion David is one of the best I have ever done business with.
David and his son Sergio arrived at the time they said, completed the installation of a Nest camera system, installed hallway and laundry recessed lights and fixed several incorrectly wired outlets outlets and switches.

Called David and he made an appointment to come out and provide an estimate. We had a very reasonable estimate later that evening.

David and his worker showed up promptly on the scheduled day and completed the majority of the work (lights in 2 closets, separate switch for bathroom fan, 220 service to laundry) the first day. They spent a significant amount of time trying to pull wire down through the wall without cutting a hole even though we agreed they would need to. They made a clean hole in the plaster lathe and did a great job cleaning up.

They came back the following morning to change out the breakers and connect the 220, and again later in the evening while I was home to review the work and make sure everything was working to my satisfaction. We found one minor problem and Dave cheerfully investigated and corrected it. He was even willing to change out a problematic dimmer switch he noticed.

Last night, several weeks later, Dave followed up to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. Value, quality and timeliness are hard to come by. I'll definitely call Dave again!

David came to my house in short to look at the electrical installation under the sink which failed causing my dish washer to not work. It was quite an urgent situation for me. He came promptly, tested the wires found the electric plug to have burned out due to voltage fluctuation. He replaced the plug with a heavy duty version and also in addition installed an additional power supply. It was professionally done at a reasonable price. The work was difficult due to the position of the plug underneath the sink and David did it without any complaints. I highly recommend him.

I found Electrical residential services here on Yelp and decided to give them a call. I was pleased to have David the owner answer the call straight away and offer to come by to look at the work I needed to have done the next day.

David was on time and after a few moments of dicussing my job I was completely confident his extensive experience in electrical work would make them a perfect fit for my job.

We had about 20 lights as a part of a new landscape project as well as the addition of a new circuit and several new GFI receptacles that needed installation. David worked quickly and was also very careful not to damage our house (paint, walls, etc) and then cleaned up thoroughly.

We had a breaker out that was crackling. A few of the rooms were out of power. These guys came out within the hour and replaced it. Friendly service and honest. When we do our recessed lighting, I'll definitely be giving them a call.

Made contact with David at 3:30pm and he was here by 9:00am the next day. Up front pricing included everything regardless of the time it took him to troublesoot and repair two troublesome outlets in the garage that just stopped working. He was done and gone within 90 minutes. Recomended by a friend and I would call on him again.

I hired David a few weeks ago to install a fan in the master bedroom and 2 security camera in front and back of our house. The job was more work than he expected, late morning he added a 3 person to help without even asking for more money and by end of the day it was all done, clean and professional. Goes without saying that I paid him more than the initial quote. In comparison to other quotes hiring David's service was a great choice.

I was SO impressed by my entire experience with David -- not only did he answer his phone, but came over promptly (and it's not as if he doesn't have tons of business -- he got about 50 calls while he was at my house!). He went to the store and picked out the lighting parts we needed (other electricians told ME to go do it), sent me pictures of his choices, and had our landscape lighting repaired that day. Furthermore, he followed up that night to make sure it was working properly. Super professional, knowledgeable, full service-oriented -- my new electrician for life!

I had purchased a Bluetooth Wall Switch for our family room and ran into issues with a self install. I had made an appointment with a recommended electrician, but he canceled the morning he was supposed to come out. I jumped on Yelp and decided to give Electrical Residential Services a call based on the reviews. David was able to come to our house the next day! David and his co-worker were able to figure out the wiring and had everything working. They were so polite and tidy! I will recommend David to anyone who is looking for electrical services.

I had an issue with our bathroom light switch - either the switch had gone bad or there was a wiring issue, and I wanted to get someone out quickly to take a look. I was going to call a bigger electrical contractor, but at the last minute, decided to call David since he was local. David was easy to talk to, and showed up the same day in the evening. He diagnosed the problem as a bad switch, and replaced the switch to my satisfaction. I have asked him to give me a quote for putting in 2 recessed lights in our bathroom as well. He only charged me for his 30 minutes. Definitely recommended.

My fiancé and I bought a chandelier and wanted it installed professionally. We also wanted it installed at a different location in the living room. David and his team came over for an estimate on time, friendly and punctually. We received a very fair quote and we decided to hire David. On the day of the installation. David and his team removed their shoes and was very respectful, of course we are Asians. They covered our floor as well as clean up afterwards. David explained the process throughout the installation and put my fiancé at ease. It was a great experience with David because there are very few people that you hire nowadays where one can depend on to get the job done right the first time and also be very personable, professional, and honest at the same time. I would definitely recommend David and his team for any electrical work one may have because they are that good. My fiancé and I will call them back to install two electrical outlets at our place as well as we will recommend them to our family and friends. If there is a way to give them 6 stars even if I have to pay yelp to do it, I would no questions asked.

Unfortunately I had an emergency situation on my hands. A tree branch fell on my electrical lines breaking our main weatherpost (mast). I had no power and a 90 year old grandfather to take care of :-(. All the licensed electricians were booked for weeks including David. David said he would still swing by our house. When he heard more about our unfortunate circumstances he said he would squeeze us in. He even started the work the same day. He finished the job the very next day. He gave us a reasonable quote for the job and even said we don't have to pay him until after the San Jose City Inspector comes out to sign off and PG&E connects the power. David and his son have excellent customer service and we truly appreciate him adjusting his schedule to squeeze us in. We finally found a knowledgeable, professional, honest and reliable electrician. My grandpa & I thank you for all your help!

My house had some power outage during the big storm at the around the beginning of December. I called more than 5 electricians and ask them to come over to diagnose the issue. Everybody is fully booked and David is the only person who is willing to have a look at the issue at his VERY BUSY schedule. It turned out to be that PG&E power line is the issue, of course, David pointed out. His advise really helps me to identify the cause of the issue and I am very appreciated that his willingness to come over. I left an impression that he is a very caring and professional person. I will definitely contact him when the next electrical problem comes up.

David and his crew were awesome! I had a different electrician lined up to do some work on my bathroom remodel. He didn't show up and didn't call. I found David on Yelp and took a chance. I called him and although he was booked he and his crew came out that night, after hours, to complete the electrical work in my bathroom so the drywall team could come in on schedule. They did great work, were very friendly and knowledgeable and were very reasonably priced. While they were there, David also fixed some of the work done by the previous electrician that I wasn't happy with. He's my new electrician. No need to look any further if you're in need of an electrician. You'll be very happy with David and his team.

David was recommended to me by my landscaping contractor and did not disappoint. He came over once to discuss the job, and again to go over my changes. After this, he provided a prompt and reasonable quote. He had a suggestion that saved me substantial money and obtained a better result. He took care to route wires inside a tight wall to minimize the impact of the new wiring on the house's appearance. The end result was excellent and I am happy to recommend him.

David was great. He was on time did the work we talked about in a quick and efficient manner which included installing a number of overhead bucket lights and rewiring some other problematic lights. He also found a potentially dangerous uncovered live wire left by a previous electrician. I would recommend him highly!

had a dryer outlet go bad due to a previous homeowner's splitting off the dryer circuit.. Called David at 5:30 on a Friday based on other reviews and he came out the next day to provide an estimate. I planned an entire day off to see this completed, When he came back, the install was professionally done, he labeled my breakers and changed out a breaker that was rated too high for the wire attached to it. Arrived at the time he said he would and was done with the job in just over 4 hours. Well Done and 5 stars!.

David and his assistant gave the best affordable quote to install two new bathroom fans with (light, fan and heater). He saved me a lot of money, considering receiving three other quotes from other competitors. I will use ERS for future business with my Landscape Design business. Very reliable, quick and clean work!
