John is basically a Marvel Superhero at this point. He's our exclusive plumber now because he is just so amazing.
The last time he was out here he fixed the shoddy work of our old plumber and today was more of the same.
Our regulator went out yesterday and I was very nervous about a bursting pipe or destroyed equipment because of it.
I called him up on Superbowl Sunday and he actually answered which was a HUGE relief. He told me he could come out immediately but it'd be pricey and it could wait a day if I was open to it.
He came out this morning and tested the pressure. We were at 110psi which is pretty high. We normally run around 60psi.
He verified the regulator was the problem and gave me a rate to fix it and install a new shutoff valve.
I couldn't figure why the regulator was bad it was maybe 5-7years old and he informed me that it was a cheap one. That old plumber was the gift that just kept on giving!
He gave me good quality one as he always does. And fixed me up quick!
He found the water shutoff on the street behind us, my neighborhood is weird.
And replaced the regulator and valve and flushed our tankless water heater all in about an hour.
An hour for all of that from start to finish!
I cannot believe how lucky we are to have this high level plumber available to us. He came in and checked our flow out too in a few places and was on his way.
Please treat him well he will do the same to your family's home.

Number one ... he questions the integrity of my memory (gaslighting)
Number two ... he is telling me how to feel... that I will regret writing this review and dismissing my personal perspective on the predatory pricing tactics of this unethical plumber...
Folks... I just had a structural mainline break in my home complete flood factor and the legitimate plumber I called out charged me close to the same price THIS JACKASS RIP OFF ARTIST charged me to chisel some granite to install a dumb toilet....
I discussed the pricing this rip off plumber charged me to install an EFFING TOILET to the LEGIT plumber I had come out TO FIX MY MAINLINE BURST PIPE... and they sadly said I was ripped off...

This guy at JOYCE PLUMBING is predatory...
Karma is a bitch you have been served
And all reading this you have been warned...
And by the way... this Jack ass plumber is sending me harassing emails... so... something is clearly wrong with this guy

I've used Joyce Plumbing on two jobs now and have been pleased with the quality of his work. I want to point out two positives here that do not apply to most service providers. First, John Joyce uses his own family name for the name of his business. No hiding behind a DBA (Doing Business As) name there. Second, both times I've requested an estimate from plumbers through Yelp, John has replied with an actual dollar amount. Most Yelp replies just say, Call me.

Our toilet flooded today and I called Joyce Plumbing around 1:44 pm and John answered the call. I asked him if he did work out in the Alpine area and he said yes. I asked if he was available today to take a look and he was thankfully. He was out at my house by 2:20 pm and snaked my main line to my septic tank and was out of there by 3:10 pm. He and his son were very pleasant and professional. I felt he was honest and fair with his pricing. I would recommend him to any of my friends that needed plumbing services. Disappointed. We used Joyce for several
years in our la mesa home and were always pleased. Recently we even recommended Joyce to the new owners of that home. We moved to mission hills and had him out to look at a couple of concerns. There was a repair that needed to be done in near future. The quote was never received but we kept getting emails for Sheldon's cafe (receipts and quotes). We never got our estimate-when I messaged to tell him, he asked to call him. I didn't have time that day and I let it go figuring we would eventually get to it when we were ready to do the work (non urgent). I messaged him today for an urgent matter with a bit of background on the problem and to see if he was available. Response was simply I am not.

We have other bathrooms, had he responded I'm not available today but...... we may have waited for him or at least planned to keep as our main plumber.

Honest, prompt, and efficient. Called on a Saturday morning about a backed up sink, and John replied promptly, was there in the afternoon, snaked the pipes through the vent stack on the roof to avoid a mess inside. Afterwards, he took the time the answer a bunch of questions I had related to the job and more general questions about plumbing. He was generous with his time and advice. Highly recommend.

Called John on a Sunday morning and he was at my residence before 12 noon... What an effort on his part, I am truly grateful. The main water supply pipe to my house blew apart and there were no parts available to fix it immediately. After calling a dozen plumbers, and receiving no response, I contacted John with Joyce plumbing and got a same day appointment! He snaked my clogged tub line and replaced the broken flush lever of my toilet and was on his way in good time!

John asked if he could come early, which really worked out good for me. He explained the problem with my water cutoff valve, and I learned a lot from it. He then gave me a quote (lowest that I got from anyone) and he and his assistant got right to work.
They were done in no time, and I feel much safer knowing that if I need to shut off the water in an emergency, I can do just that. Looks nice, too! Friendly, fast, efficient and cleaned up after themselves. I DEFINITELY recommend this company.

We had a leak under our sink and I assumed we needed a new garbage disposal as that appeared to be the source. I called Joyce Plumbing on Sunday afternoon and got an immediate answer. No problem having someone come Monday to avoid weekend fees.

Plumber called in the morning to discuss garbage disposal options and gave me the pros and cons. I chose a middle price option.

Plumber showed up on time and looked at the sink for ten minutes. I didn't need a new disposal and he just tightened everything up. He even apologized for having to charge us a service fee since he didnt need to do much.

Joyce Plumbing is an efficient and friendly company. They answered my phone call promptly at night and advised me on how to turn the water off to my appliance which was leaking. I needed A plumber ASAP. I looked on Yelp to see what I can find. First up Joyce Plumbing , with 5 stars. I read the reviews and called right away. I got a call back and John set me up for the next morning. Denver fixed my garbage disposal and toilet and was out in an hour.

The man himself, John, replaced a broken, corroded, obsolete water shutoff gate valve in my condo's garage with a new ball valve. The direct communication via text was great. He gave different options, advantages, and disadvantages for the types of shutoff valves (import vs domestic) and the price differences. He arrived when he said he would. It only took him about 30 minutes to do the job. He was true to the price he quoted. He even took care of a minor toilet issue I had asked him about while he was here. John is very knowledgeable about his profession. Nice to talk to as well.

Finding a good plumber is like finding a good mechanic. No easy task. It definitely needed to be a licensed plumber for this job. After that, it came down to price, reviews, and reputation. I had quotes from a half dozen other plumbing outfits. The Yelp reviews were very helpful but it was also the gut feeling I got when I started communicating directly with John as well what I read on the company website. I will recommend Joyce Plumbing to family/friends.

Called on a Sunday to see if they could come out. The owner was extremely professional, knowledgeable, kind and prompt. After gathering as much info over the phone in order to put together a ball park estimate so as not to waste anyone's time and to give me the closest idea as to how much it might cost, he sent out one of his technicians right away. His tech, Denver, showed up within minutes and resolved our issue and even tried to help with cleanup- our septic had backed up into the tub. Will definitely recommend this company to everyone I know.

Requested Joyce Plumbing to come out and repair leaking bathtub faucet. Made appointment for the next morning. They were on time and polite. inspected leak and decided to replace shower cartridge. Turned off main water and removed old shower cartridge and installed new one with no problems. turned main water back on and no more leaks. All went as planned. my opinion the price was a little high for less than 30 minutes of work.

Had a backed up bathroom sink and some concerns about a possibly related slow draining tub. Based on good Yelp reviews I called Joyce plumbing who came out with the clear top priority of clearing the sink that was clogged and not draining at all and second priority to check out the potentially slow draining tub.

Joyce's plumber came and attempted to clear the clog in the sink but was unsuccessful. I was told I would be charged for the work despite their inability to clear the drain but that while they were there he could snake out the tub that didn't appear to their plumber to be draining slow at no additional cost...i took them up on that offer because if I am getting charged anyway I might as well have them snake the tub.

I appreciated the offer to at least provide a positive outcome for their services with the the tub, who knows maybe the slow draining would did improve, I don't know, I didn't notice any difference but as a result i am increasing my original one star review to a two star. The main thing here is the primary reason for the service request was to clear the sink which was not achieved. When another plumber was put to the task from another company, the sink was unclogged within a half hour of his arrival.

Note: After seeing this review Joyce plumbing did call me to discuss the situation and wanted me to reconsider the one star review. In the end I did decide to up it to 2 but I definitely think of it as a solid 1.5. His reasoning was that services were still provided with the tub and that perhaps the second plumber was not concerned about potential destruction of the pipes between the sink and the main and possibly risked damaging them in in whatever method they used to declog it. To me, the bottom line in this the simple truth that:

I called Joyce to unclog a sink and they were not able to perform that task.
I called another plumber and they took care of it with no issues.
As a result I had to pay two plumbers to fix one problem that only the other plumbing company fixed.

Joyce gets good reviews in on yelp and that is generally how I select contractors and have had great success in the past. A low review like this is no doubt is a rare occurrence for this company and I honestly wish I never felt the need to write it because then I would have had my plumbing problem fixed without having to call another plumber and i would have a plumbing service that I felt confident in for any future problems.

Excellent experience.
My tenant notified me Fri evening that her toilet was leaking. Sat morning, I request quotes via Yelp from a few plumbers. 3 stated that they were available starting Mon (either they don't work weekends (?!) or were booked. John Joyce (owner!) calls me back relatively quickly to say he can swing by in about 2 hours. My tenant was cool with that.
He ended up getting there even earlier, called me soon after to give me the estimate. Although it was a little higher than I anticipated, without actually receiving quotes from other places, I don't know for sure if it was more expensive or not. Regardless, he said he was able to take care of it then and there, and would send me an email with an invoice (as opposed to needing a CC right away) so I said, YES PLEASE!
Received a text from my tenant about an hour or so later saying John was pleasant, and everything was working perfectly. If we did pay a little more than competitors, it was worth it because he was professional, available, and efficient! Joyce Plumbing will definitely be our go-to plumber for our East County rental unit. Although hopefully we won't have plumbing issues for quite some time!

My initial review of Joyce Plumbing was 5 stars...I used them for clearing some sinks and some sink/garbage disposal estimate...Denver was amazing and advised me on a disposal and associated items needed...Now the problem...Called the next day to schedule install and was advised Denver was off 4 days, but the Owner John Joyce could install...He was hesitant to accept, questioned Denver's advise but said would come on Saturday between 10-11am...No call, No show..I called and texted repeated no response...Called EBP plumbing Liorgi responded, can at time stated installed for a fraction of the cost...If you're a business owner who can't keep their commitment to their customers you won't be in business long....Don't Use them

These guys were great!. They truly have a 24 hours response. We called them on a mid-Thursday and they scheduled us for Saturday. They arrived sharp at 8:30am and by 2pm job was complete and cleaned. Very professional and nice, and answered all the questions and concerns we had concerning our tankless water heater. We had a leak so piping was cauterized and since our heater was 10 years old, they recommended it be replaced, which we did. Price was slightly above average ($2400) but worth it for their efficiency, resolving issue effectively, honesty and quickness.

When he realized he didn't have the required part, he went off to purchase one, and he did not charge us for the extra time. He also adjusted our sink drain stopper so that it moves up and down the way it's supposed to, and again at no charge. He's a very polite guy and very focused. An amazing experience all the way around. My 15 year old hot water heater started to leak, and I knew immediately I was interested in a more modern, energy efficient tankless water heater. I spoke to John on the phone and he gave me multiple options and offered some advice when it came to purchasing a tankless water heater. I called multiple other plumbers in the area and found that John charged a very competitive price without any hidden costs.

John, and one of his other employees, Denver, came out to my place and spent the day hauling out my old unit and fitting the tankless heater. He did a VERY professional job and the new unit is working great.

The BEST part of my experience was John's follow-up. He called multiple times to ask how the unit was running, gave me advice on how to care and maintain the unit, and made sure I was a happy customer. Will, without a doubt, use again for other plumbing needs.

John Joyce and his employee, Denver, responded to our emergency call to clear a blockage that had our granny flat toilet backing up the into shower. John had the problem diagnosed and fixed very quickly and very professionally. They were both very friendly. There was additional work he could have done and charged us for, but he was honest in saying that it was something my boyfriend or I could do ourselves and save the money. John Joyce's style is honesty and skilled worksmanship. When our water heater blew, John and Dallas showed up in about an hour to fix it. I got the sense that their emergency number is truly that - they will pick up the phone 24/7.

Within minutes, they had diagnosed the problem. It wasn't a leaking pipe, as I suspected. The old water heater had fallen off its last legs, and then some. John presented our two options and their benefits and disadvantages in a very clear way - tankless or tanked - that made it very easy for us to decide. There was no pressure or sales pitch - it seemed he wanted simply what was best for us. He asked about our family and our general needs to determine the best course forward.

During the job, John was very patient with our various questions about other maintenance items in the house. It's clear he knows what he's talking about. During the first call when I thought it was a smaller job and wanted him to inspect the anode rod, John turned down the possible business, telling me it's usually not a good cost proposition to replace the anode rods for a 3-year-old heater.

So it's now 3 hours later and they are totally done. I've seen through many water replacements in my time and I've never seen a 3-hour job including pickup. We're actually still waiting for a call back from another local plumber, but Joyce Plumbing already installed the new water heater. Everything works and is great. Won't hesitate to call back.

OUTSTANDING! Do you have a plumbing job, I HIGHLY recommend Joyce Plumbing. My parents (who are elderly) had a toilet leaking from its base. From initial contact, booking, on time arrival, work completion and clean up John (the owner) did a tremendous job. He was polite, thorough and professional during the entire transaction. Joyce Plumbing is EXCELLENT! We had water overflowing from our toilets and bathroom drains and it had flooded our master bathroom and portions of our master bedroom. We called John, the owner, after hours and he was honest and advised it sounded like something that could wait for regular business hours since the water had started to recede. Saving us hundreds in an after hours repair. A very polite young man showed up the next morning right on time and quickly got to work. Gave us a quote before beginning. Within less than an hour our problem was solved. He cleaned up everything nicely and had excellent manners. Thank you Joyce Plumbing! I can't say enough nice things about Joyce plumbing. The owner, John, first did work for me when I did a major kitchen remodel about 9 years ago. He was extremely professional, always on time, and very respectful about working inside my home.

I recently had to call them as I had a major clog in my sewage drain for the laundry and kitchen drains. He sent his assistant, Denver, out to work on the problem. He was thorough and completed the work quickly.

I have a big sewer pipe replacement project coming up this spring, and I will definitely be calling Joyce plumbing to do the work!

I have utilized Joyce Plumbing multiple times in our home, John is our go to for just about anything plumbing related. Every time, he or Denver have been out for a service call they have been more than prompt. They have always advised me of what the job would entail and upfront costs. John himself even came out on a holiday, when we had a mainline break into the house and a second holiday when our Hot Water Heater had to be replaced. I find John to be very reasonable guy with a great personality. I do not allow just anyone in my house and John is welcome anytime. Most Recently, he installed our dishwasher. One week later we had an issue with the hook up, and he responded immediately and fixed the problem free of charge. Good Plumbers are hard to find. And one that responds on a moments notice and puts his customers first are nearly non-existent. Joyce Plumbing has my business for years to come!

Outstanding service! John responded within minutes via phone, and within an hour of that, their technician Denver was out at our place. We had some leaky old plumbing in the outflow from our bathtub. He replaced the leaky plumbing with modern pipes and even did a little touch-up caulking in the bathtub for good measure. Denver was very professional and super friendly and explained exactly what was wrong and what he was going to do at each step. I can't say enough good things about him! Highly recommended and will return for any future plumbing work!

Saturday at 12 p.m we realized our granny flat was clogged. We had company from out of town and we're having a huge family get together at 4 pm. John was at our house within a couple of hours and had it fixed and cleaned up quickly. He was busy that day but since my husband explained that we had a party he made it happen. His customer service was outstanding. His clean up was superb. He sprayed something then cleaned up the mess. My company had flushed baby wipes and clogged up the system. He was quick and clean and I know who to call next time I need good service. Thanks John for making it happen and for the discount. It was greatly appreciated.

Today we had a little plumbing emergency and the plumber we normally use was busy on the golf course. I used Yelp and found Joyce Plumbing. Sorry, previous unnamed plumber, you've been replaced! Joyce plumbing was reasonable, knowledgable in the humblest manner (you could tell he knew his stuff), honest, polite and efficient. When we called him, he said, I'm on the 8. I can come right now. He was here in less than 15 minutes. When you've had to shut off your water, that is such a relief! We had 2 other non-emergency plumbing things we had to do and we were so impressed, we asked him to do those as well which he was able to accomodate. We will definitely use him again. After having a bad experience with a major commercial plumber, I found Joyce Plumbing on Yelp. John responded quickly with a fair estimate and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. The following day he called before arrival, arrived well within the set window and got to work. He works efficiently, but does not rush. He takes the time to ensure that work is done properly and double and triple checks things. His estimate was not the lowest, BUT he is using high quality parts. As a home owner I would rather pay a bit more for the parts and save potential future headaches. I definitely saved his contact info and will use him in the future.

Wow. Just absolutely wow. I fired my contractor and then the pipe in my bathroom breaks in the same day. John, the plumber just left and after of MONTHS of the chaos and headaches of trying to renovate our first home, he bought us genuine peace of mind. I was feeling discouraged and taken advantage of. I really trusted my so-call contractor..and yes, I did interview several contractors but he fooled me. Anyways, what does a plumber have to do with a contractor? Well John knows his stuff. He is more knowledgable of the overall, well everything, than the 4 dozen people I have talked to since I started renovating. He didn't put the work or person down, he was straight forward and said it how he saw it. That alone is telling. Not only that, he came to our house after 9pm and answered all our questions and concerns. Gave us options, and time to think about the next steps. (Most would just push and schedule then invoice.) AND he was so reasonably priced! What a breath of fresh air, he gave me hope again. Thank you, truly and sincerely thank you. Sorry if I'm over doing it a little, but there ARE good people out there. Not just ones trying to charm you, cut corners, and take your money. I will definitely call John in the future. Already asked him to schedule me for another plumbing issue that was done incompetently.

I've never actually called these guys but received help from them anyway! A calamitous, wet mess under the sink during my housewarming party (of course) led me to discover that the p-trap was installed backwards as a poor substitute for a too-deep sink and garbage disposal not lining up properly with the waste pipe. As I was standing in Home Depot trying to figure out what parts I needed (for the third time), one of the Joyce plumbers recognized my distress, set down his own stuff to study the picture I had snapped on my phone, and then gathered up all the supplies I needed and laid them out for me in the correct configuration. I had a sewage backup catastrophe at my condo and after calling a dozen plumbers on a Sunday, I found John who was one of the few who bothered to call me back. I could tell on the phone that he cares about his work and likes to solve problems.

When he arrived I could tell that he is a sincere person and not one of those rush-in rush-out kind of repairmen. He spent the time to assess the problem, spoke with the building manager, explained the pros and cons of different approaches, and spent several hours at the site. When he had to go out to get a part he did not charge me for that time.

I'm lucky I came across him when looking for a plumber!

Like many on here leaving reviews, I had a plumbing emergency and Joyce Plumbing was able to come over after hours to fix my issues. They assessed the problem and gave me a fair quote. Really professional...addressed me as sir and even asked permission to wash their hands in the sink. I am so very glad I decided to call Joyce Plumbing the other night. Excellent service all around. I got a call from my tenants Saturday night about a leak under the sink, and they pretty much weren't able to use the sink or dishwasher without everything leaking underneath. So I came to Yelp and decided to give Joyce Plumbing a call Saturday night since the hours listed were until midnight. I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to answer the phone at 9:30pm, but much to my surprise John answered. I explained to him what was going on and asked if someone could come out Monday morning, but he said no problem and that he could come out the next day Sunday at no extra charge to look at it, give a free estimate and do the job if approved. I was so pleased at his quick response time AND that he wasn't going to charge extra for a Sunday call. Amazing! John kept in touch with me throughout the day, and called my tenants right when he said he would. He didn't waste time and I appreciated him taking the time out on a Sunday to handle it with ease. The job was handled the next day, tenants were happy and me even happier. Reasonable price, and most of all I just felt I could really trust John...he gave some suggestions for future usage and ideas to help keep the drains clean. It shows that he cares about people, and fixing problems and it's clear he has a passion for making this his business of 20+ years - he's not out there to nickel and dime people for every little thing. Overall, a great experience and i will definitely be calling Joyce Plumbing for any future needs. Thanks again!!

I had my only two toilets back up last night. Called Joyce plumbing early in the morning at 6 am. They were great about having Denver come out for 8 am. He was on time and very nice. The main issue for 3 star rating was he quoted me $365. These are the only two toilets in the house and luckily they were able to come out before I had to go work so did not have to miss any time. A couple years ago I had the same issue of the toilets backing up and another company (which I would have called but they didn't open until 8) came out and solved the same issue charging $180. I told this to Denver and he noted that due to having to go on the roof with regards to insurance/liability is the reason the price that his boss quoted was so high. Note that the other company went on the roof as well. The other option was to remove a toilet to snake it which would be the same price. A couple years ago the other company was unable to clear it from the roof, had to remove the toilet as well and still only charged $180.

Denver was great, he was nice, kept the area clean and finished the job in about 30 minutes. I straight up told him for that cost I will most likely not use the company again for something like drain clearing and no effort was made to adjust the price. I asked estimates for camera assessment and putting in an outdoor drain hole for easier snaking in the future and the estimates sounded average for what I have gotten in the past but I have not researched these much yet. Too bad this was so pricey for 30 minutes of work.

UPDATE: About 30 minutes after the job was done John the owner called and after talking to Denver reduced the charged amount and refunded the difference. He noted that often when going on the roof the jobs can often take longer than mine did and was happy to reduce the price for me. I now will be happy to use Joyce plumbing in the future.

It is not a comfortable feeling having water coming up out of the concrete but John's honesty and professionalism helped tremendously throughout the process. Since then, John has come out to help with a variety of jobs for myself and those I have referred him to. John does a first-class job and won't rip you off!

John came to my house immediately on a Saturday afternoon when we had a mainline backup. He worked hard and fast, getting the rusty cap off a clean-out and snaking out the mainline in about 15 minutes. He turned a bad afternoon into a nice one. And he didn't charge too much. I recommend him.

Hi,
I want to recommend Joyce Plumbing to anyone that has a tough plumbing job to do. I've never seen two harder working brothers in my life.

Joyce plumbing has been taking care of the large plumbing assignments for our condo HOA for several years. Some of their outside of the box solutions have saved us thousands of dollars.

Most recently, we had a bad slab leak in one of our buildings. The detection service that the HOA choose missed the spot completely. However, Justin Joyce just kept going, for 11 hours straight with that jackhammer, until he finally located the leak.

During those eleven hours of hard sweaty work, Justin kept a very calm and positive attitude, which must have been difficult considering the situation. His brother John was always available with that special tool, or advice on what to do next.

From now on, we'll always call Joyce Plumbing first, for a small or big job! Thanks Justin and John!

We called Joyce Plumbing on a Saturday afternoon after discovering a bad leak from our shower drain was causing substrate moisture in our entry-way. After attempting to diagnose and fix the issue ourselves we discovered some seriously deteriorated pipes realized it was above and beyond our knowledge on how to best fix this issue. Upon calling John he was very upfront about the costs due it being the weekend and our options, we decided it was worth it to have him come out on Sunday since we were without a shower until fixed. He arrived on time, was quick to asses the problem and asked questions to make the best decision on how to fix the problem. He walked us through what he was going to do prior to starting work and gave us an accurate estimate of the costs, which were reasonable. He even took time to discuss with us the concerns of the age of the plumbing and how to make it last as long as possible - he also recommended a product to maintain the pipes and keep them clear. After the work was complete he showed us what he did and any other areas concerns he noticed while working. It was very clear from our interactions with John that he is knowledgeable in the trade and truly cares about the work he does. We feel lucky to have found a plumber to add to our list of trusted companies if we need plumbing work in the future. We highly recommend this company.

Great Work! We had several issues with our heater unit that the company was able to fix all issues. The company was professional and was able to work with our busy schedule. He came prepared with all the necessary equipment to fix every thing. Very courteous staff with affordable prices.
