Established in 1979.
We started George Salet Plumbing in 1979 with the premise of providing unmatched service to our customers. Our motto Skilled, Clean and Honest Plumbers says it all. Our technicians are put through rigid standards just to be eligible for employment including but not limited to a full background check, drug screening and a number of plumbing examinations to ensure and demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the plumbing industry.

George Salet started his plumbing business on his own in 1979.  After establishing his skills in the San Francisco Bay area, George Salet Plumbing grew to a team of plumbers. Our hot water heater's pilot light went out and stayed out (cold showers for a week).  I called two other companies before George Salet - one of which just tried to sell me on a new water heater but couldn't tell me why or what the diagnosis was so I thought they were trying to pull a fast one on me (I'm a female homeowner and unfortunately blue collar folks assume I won't understand and don't try to explain their thinking. It sucks.).  Several hours of research later, I started pulling out the thermocouple and was ready to make the repair myself (a $25 part, the first guy was going to charge me $495 for, no thanks) but then saw that the entire unit was corroded (the first guy had not pulled out the cover at all so could not have confirmed that). Because of my research, I knew that I did in fact need a new water heater.

I called George Salet plumbing, got a wonderful person named Ryan who came out the next morning and gave me the run down of all my options and priced it out there on an ipad.  He was able to come back the same day with my new water heater and installed it the same day.  I'm beyond pleased with this great company and would highly recommend them.  In fact, I'm going to recommend them to every female homeowner I know because not only did he treat me with respect, he also explained the pros and cons of the 6 and the 12-year warranties, and was exceptionally nice and professional doing it.  Thank you so much, Ryan! You've renewed my faith in plumbers!

Recommended by a friend who has used several times over the past few years.  Totally positive experience.  Friendly phone 1st contact.  Appointment set in a reasonable time and repair scheduled.  Jose and another gentleman came the 1st time to assess the situation and provide a quote (very reasonable!).  The part was ordered and the next appointment, Jose came alone and worked on the water heater, fully cleaning the inside control area and changing out the defective part.  Service was friendly, efficient and very reasonable, especially considering the repair took a bit more time than originally estimated.  Despite that, they stuck to the original price quote.

Fair, efficient, honest - Definitely going to be my go to plumbers for future needs.

I asked for an ball park estimate on a new water heater, since mine is on the older side, and Jose took the extra time to pull up a few estimates for me and give me an idea of some options for the future.

I had a Kitchen sink installed that I bought from costco. The job was very well done and I was overall impressed. I had a small customer sat issue at the end but even got a call from George himself to make sure I was satisfied, which I was. The issue was solved quickly and to my satisfaction.

The professionals they had who did the install were very easy to work with and transparent about any issues. I would 100% work with them again and look forward to have this shop do my next job.

Our clothes washer appeared to have sprung a leak last night. Our first call was George Salet based on our great experience with them in the past. David came the next day and suggested that he check the washer drain. Sure enough, after running a quick test, he confirmed that there was nothing wrong with our washing machine; that it was simply a clogged drain where the washer flowed into. After doing a deep snake a couple of times, the drain was cleared. David then tested the washer for a couple of cycles and confirmed no water was backing up any longer. On top of that, David cleaned all the old lint and dirt off the floor and everything was good as new!

Awesome company! John and Bobby were the plumbers that fixed the jobs needed in my home. They were kind, courteous, professional, reliable, respectful and efficient! There was no fee to get a quote , and they also quoted and charged a reasonable price for the work!  They helped me prioritize what jobs needed to be addressed professionally and were responsive and agile to add changes to the original plan easily and seamlessly. I really appreciate how easy they made it for me to work with them and also for their skill and professionalism, and for being honest, thoughtful and trustworthy. They even put shoe covers over their shoes before entering my home every time! They fixed the issues thoroughly and quickly. They did a great job and I highly recommend!

Only 1 star because I appreciated the text that indicated they would arrive in the Thursday before the Christmas holiday. Instead, revived a call that nobody is coming 15 minutes before the appointment because the technician got involved in a job that was too big. To me, indicates agreeing to business that can't be resourced appropriately. The fireplace was key before the Christmas holiday and now...no working fireplace. I could have easily hired someone else had Salet Plumbing understood resources to requests calculation. There is nothing worse than last minute cancellations when I could have solved this earlier in the week.

I recently had a clogged kitchen sink problem.  Knowing GSP is a local business and I have heard of immaculate feedback from Brisbanians, I decided to give them a try.  The online scheduling is painless and someone responded within a short time.  The technicians showed up on time next day as scheduled.   They respected my property and safety by wearing booties and masks.   They took care of the clog and cleaned up nicely.   I had to request for a second visit and the office staff was able to squeeze me in the very next morning.  All in all, this was a stress-free (my high priority) and pleasant experience.  This business cares about their customers and provides the best service possible.

I tend to write reviews when I am especially pleased, or especially unhappy.  This review falls into the first category.
I needed to determine if my problem was with my dishwasher (which I was planning to replace) or with something in my drain system.  I didn't know who to call.
A friend recommended George Salet, and I called on a Saturday morning.  It wasn't an emergency, and I left a message asking, if it was possible, for an appointment as early as possible on the following Monday, as the new dishwasher was coming Monday afternoon.
I received a call on Monday at 8:07 am ( I had asked for as early as possible), explained the problem I was having, and was scheduled for an appointment between 11 and 1.  Carlos arrived a little after 11.  I was impressed that he put little booties on his feet before entering the house.  He was very thorough in his assessment, and explained to me what he was doing and what he was looking for.  It turned out the issue was with the appliance, and not a big plumbing job.  The charge was more than reasonable, and I am confident that this is a company that does honest work, and won't make a big job out of a small one.  
I have found my new, go-to, plumbing company.  They are responsive, prompt, and fair.

I had a messy kitchen sink drainage problem in which a previous plumber ran out in the middle of the job. Monte (from George Salet Plumbing) not only resolved the tricky issue quickly but just completely exceeded my expectation on his service, thoroughness and politeness. I rarely feel the need to write a raving review, but here it is! And, I didn't catch her name, but the receptionist/coordinator was very communicative with updates and also had a very pleasant demeanor.

Amazing plumbing service that solved all of the lingering problems that have been in my unit since I moved in. They cleaned my water heater, fixed the toilet that was making a hissing sound, and fixed a rattling sound in my walls. They did all of this within 3 hours and were very professional.

I've had other plumbing services come in the past but none have been this thorough and professional.

I recently had Alan and Bobby out to fix a major pipe leak - water dripping from the second story to the garage.  They did an excellent job!  Of course they fixed the leak but they had to move my belongings out of a cabinet under the sink and Bobby moved them so carefully and organized them so well I was just amazed.  They were extremely pleasant to deal with, cleaned up afterwards perfectly, and I'd hire them again in a minute!

I was referred to George Salet by a service tech at Okell's for a problem with my gas fireplace. The PG&E guy had told me I needed a whole new setup.  Alan and Dave (Alan's apprentice, I hope I have the name right!) came when they said they would, wore masks, and even put on shoe covers to protect my new hardwood floors - without my asking! But best of all they were able to quickly diagnose the problem and offer an on-the-spot repair job. My fireplace is working again, and my house is warm in the middle of a vicious cold snap. I am so relieved and very grateful for their expertise.  Price was right, too!

Beyond the call of duty!  Spoke on the  phone with Alan about my issue because I hired another popular company that charges $198 to visit  and  assess and they could not/would not fix it.(wanted  to sell me a new furnace)  Alan guaranteed me if they could not fix it I would not pay.  
The heater had two different issues  and Alan/Ryan  fixed the issues one at a time. The old strong heater is working just like it should!  
To add they are prompt, HONEST,  respectful, wear masks and boot covers on shoes.

The hose that connects to the dish washer was leaking and causing water to pour out onto our kitchen counter and underneath the sink.  We are delighted with how knowledgable and thorough the technician, Jose, was ,  He came out within an hour and fixed everything, explaining in detail what was needed (replace the hose) and then  installed the new hose and tightened everything up.  He also suggested we put a fan under the sink for a day or so just to make sure the water didn't seep into the walls and cause mold.  Then he gave us a visual free home inspection to make sure everything from the washing machine and dryer, water heater, stove etc. were connected properly.  Great service that is very much appreciated!

We feel so lucky to have found George Salet Plumbing!  
Our house is very old, and Juan suggested the perfect corner sink for our very small bathroom and a utility sink for the garage. We also had them install a new faucet and filter in our kitchen.
Juan and Jose had their work cut out for them, yet they completed every job with masterful skill. They truly went above and beyond, especially because they had to deal with cramped, outdated, and old areas of our home.  We were also very happy when talking to the people on the phone about scheduling.  This is a topnotch business!

I have a Jotul gas fireplace that would not light.  I got a repair referral from O'Kells Fireplace where I bought it.

The repair man showed up and told me the starter assembly was not working.
I asked him the price to fix it.  I was shocked to find that it would cost a minimum of $673.00.

With out doing my due diligence, I agreed to the work.  

He had the part in the truck  and started right in.
I began to wonder, how much could a starter  possibly cost?  
I asked him and he didn't have a breakdown of the labor vs part.

Well...... I looked up the part and it cost around $73.00 retail.
From start to finish this repair took 45 minutes.
My math tells me I paid  $600.00 for labor.

I did let the technician know how I felt about the charges and he appologized and said he couldn't help his bosses pricing.  I told him I planned on writing a Yelp review.

Had a plumbing issue in our new ( old) home. Called George Salet plumbing. They were awesome. They got a tech here quickly.
They were just as their card says- skilled, clean and honest.
John Peters and his teammate ( sorry spacing on his name) were great! First they were masked, kept social distance but most of all worked really hard to resolve the root issue we had. They stuck to it till it was resolved, showed me they had it fixed. Ran a camera down to double check.
I am impressed with their work and how professional they are. Most of all they were honest! That goes a long way with me

I have used the same plumbing company for over 20 years and have been happy with them. This week I needed a plumber to repair a leak in the shower and a problem with my dish washer. A friend who lives in Shelter Creek (San Bruno) had a very good experience with Salet Plumbing and so I thought I would try them.

I am now a total Salet convert.  Juan did a great job repairing the leak in the shower and the problem with my dish washer.  The shower was a particularly  difficult job because various part were damaged and/or poorly installed and screws were frozen etc.

Salet's plumbers have over 4,000 spare parts in their vans which is a great time saver as no one has to interrupt the work to go to a hardware for a replacement part.

Juan is a good communicator and explained the different options for fixing the repair and costs involved. I never felt like I was being pressured into a particular option based on cost.

More importantly, it was immediately clear that Juan loves his work as a plumber and thrives on problem solving odd and difficult plumbing problems.

As we all know, anyone who loves their work and who they work for tends to be a great professional.  This is also true of Juan!

Finally,  Juan looked for any possible way to reduce the overall cost of the job and applied a number of discounts I was eligible for.

Ten star review for this team, from initial request for a quote through sign off from the SF building inspector.  First, back of house communication gets an A+.  After I contacted GSP, they reached out to me promptly. Their team used a combination of emails and texts to set/remind me of appointments and to answer questions. Their messages were friendly and detailed. This up front operation made me feel like I could trust GSP.  Second, my technicians were AWESOME.  I made them write down their names so I could mention them here- that's how awesome.  So, a big shout out to Alan Byrne and David Ivacheff for making this process stress free and fast. These two were warm, professional, clean, on time and communicative.  It was clear they knew what they were doing.  Alan and David explained what was going on throughout, tried to save me money from my original quote by trying to salvage some pipes (I mean, who does that?) , were funny and non-invasive in the apartment. The process took two days and on day three, the SF inspector reviewed and approved their work.  Now, my 15 year dream of installing a gas fireplace is one step closer; and O'Kell's is coming out next week to start the masonry. THANK YOU GSP for helping make my dream come true. As you can see, highly recommend!

I work at an upscale property here in the city, and we have a lineal fire pit onsite that had not worked for years and several other companies would not even come out to look at.  I ended up calling George Salet and they sent Alan out to take a look.  We went through the drawings and the electrical plans, did some troubleshooting and found the problem.  I ordered the parts and Alan came back when they arrived and WE MADE FIRE!!  

I have not used George Salet Plumbing for any actual plumbing issues (yet) But what I got that so impressed me was the willingness to work through a difficult problem and GET IT DONE.  The job that they did made everybody involved just look great and I am so very thankful.

The absolute best plumber you will ever use!

I highly recommend this business. They are professional, knowledgeable and kind.
John and his partner fixed two toilets that three other plumbers said they couldn't fix(!)

Stop looking for a plumber! You have found the best group of plumbers out there if you've contacted George Salet.

I really appreciate how trustworthy, honest and competent everyone I've dealt with at GSP is.

The person answering the phone is helpful. You can even email them if you've got an issue that needs clarification. I've found them to be reliable where communication is concerned.

Did I mention that George Salet himself is incredibly friendly and super smart? I can't help from gushing when I find an admirable contractor.

Our fireplace wasn't lighting anymore. I called the fireplace company that installed it many years ago and they referred me to George Salet Plumbing. Since it wasn't an emergency, I got an appointment within the week.  They were very communicative. I received a call that morning saying their employee had finished his previous job early, could he come right away. Ryan was very nice, mask and booties. He diagnosed the problem and got to work, cleaning the unit and replacing something he thought was the problem. He said it might also be something else which is a little pricey, but that probably wasn't the case. He took the whole unit apart to thoroughly service. After three hours, everything was put back together but it seemed to still be cutting out a little. We decided to just go ahead and replace the other part. Poor guy had to take it apart again. It was a package price so I wasn't charged by the hour. Four hours later, our 25 year old fireplace that had never been serviced has been entirely rebuilt. So next time your service person is late, just think, he might have had someone like me as an unexpected lengthy service call before you. I will definitely be calling them in the future and referring my friends.

I owe George Salet Plumbing a big apology! They helped me out several months ago, and I just realized I never wrote them a review. Truly excellent service from this company. My washing machine had been causing water overflows in my garage, and my regular plumber said I needed somebody capable of industrial-scale work to come root out the pipes. That's what George Salet Plumbing did, and I've had no flooding since then. I wish I'd called them much sooner.

Gas fire had stopped working and they had someone available the next day. Carlos arrived punctually with all COVID precautions and quickly diagnosed the issue. They had someone drop off the spare part from their office and Carlos had it in and fixed and running in no time. Excellent service. Would use them again in a second.

Thank you Goerge Salet Plumbing for a great job in my bathroom but I'd wanna give a special thanks specifically for Tyler, he came in and fixed my broken toilet. Everything now looks clean and perfect, even better than before. he knew exactly what he was doing. He showed tremendous amount of knowledge, good work, and respect. I called George Salet Plumbing because my gas fireplace needed attention.  Mike came out and had it up and running in no time! He was very courteous and professional and took the time to explain the whole process.  Everything was left in good order and the cost was fair and reasonable.

Alan and Bryan came by today to fix my gas fireplace.  The fireplace is old and they had to jerry rig a a part that was no longer available. I was worried that I would have to replace the fireplace as I need it to heat a part of my house. I am so impressed with their work.  They wore masks and shoe covers and they worked hard and were able to make it work again.  They were friendly and professional.  I would use them again for any plumbing needs.

Our kitchen sink started to drip underneath cause water to accumulate.  We called George Salet Plumbing and a very responsive dispatcher scheduled a Friday afternoon expedited visit by two very competent and informative plumbing experts, Alan and Johnny.

They quickly assessed the sink issue and took care of our two aging toilets that didn't always flush and stop completely (often needing a jiggle of the toilet handle to get the toilet to stop flushing.)

Then they also quickly took care of an upstairs sink whose stopper would not close to hold water in the sink!

Thank you Alan and Johnny!  We're very satisfied!

Alan Byrne showed up *precisely* on time, wearing a mask, and with a great sense humor and good cheer. As far as first impressions go, I couldn't have asked for better. He also had some really good suggestions about the maintenance and operation of our fireplace, even though he couldn't help us (turns out we have a wood-burning one). George and his team did a great job servicing and repairing my Valor fireplace. Scheduling was easy and they were on-time and completed the job quicker than estimated.

Not only did they do an excellent job replacing the thermocouple and fix a broken seal in my fireplace, but they also thoroughly cleaned and wiped down the fireplace inside and outside. Now it looks like it's brand-new again.

We had a Takagi on-demand water heater that unexpectedly quit working. Bummer! No hot water. We called George Salet Plumbing, Inc ... they dispatched Tyler to come troubleshoot our unit.

Tyler was prompt, courteous & professional. He got our Takagi working in a jiffy, but he wasn't optimistic about its long-term functionality. Turns out you have to do regular maintenance to these sorta on-demand water heaters. We'd not. Not once. Not ever. That'd created a whole bunch of problems which Tyler patiently explained. His suggestion was to replace the unit.

EEK! Expensive! Is our old unit really a terminal case? Can't you futz around with it a bit? Help us get another couple years out of it? Tyler was not confident, but agreed. He did some fidgeting & some cleaning & some other technical stuffs I didn't understand & Lo! The unit worked. All was well. We were happy. Tyler was still not optimistic, but he felt confident he'd coerced another couple years out of our old unit.

It was 48hours before our old unit failed again. I phoned GSPInc & asked for Tyler. He was off for the next couple days & wouldn't be back in until the following week. Gah! No hot water for the weekend!?! We shoulda listened to him. We shoulda replaced the unit. Bummer! But we got on Tyler's schedule for the week following.

Who phoned me ON HIS DAY OFF!?! Tyler ... he apologized for the old unit's failure, said he'd done what he could, etc. But I felt he'd done a great job. It wasn't his fault. It was ours. We chose the cheaper option which was to fix our old unit. That's on us, not Tyler or GSPInc. So we agreed to replace the unit.

Tyler came the following week & replaced our old Takagi with a new sleeker, sexier Takagi that runs more efficiently, etc. Super stoked to be able to take long showers & wash dishes while we do our laundry. And we're super-super stoked with George Salet Plumbing, Inc & will be sure to do regular maintenance on our Takagi ... & when we do, we're gonna be sure to ask for Tyler.

We worked with Alan and David on two different projects within two weeks and they were lifesavers. As lead, Alan actually listened to what our issues were in both situations and didn't jump to the seemingly obvious answers that failed with two prior companies.  Both were willing to do the extra steps to test and troubleshoot rather than just offering broad solutions based on suspicions rather than real data.  I appreciate when someone can say 'I don't know for sure, but let's figure this out together'.  Two lingering problems were solved happily within days rather than the months of frustrations we tolerated before.  And, in discussing potential water heater upgrades before they left, they went the extra mile study our current model and find out we had important features we didn't know we weren't using.  I would absolutely recommend the team and use their service again!

I like to give a HIGH 5 shout out to all the team members at George Salet   My Vermont Casting w a Honeywell controller is at the verge of obsolete.
They sent out Mr. Alan Byrne to my Mariposa resident in SF, he was not only ahead of scheduled time, he has the magic touch to re-ignite my heater on the spot.  Prompt service, no horse playing, and an affordable estimate.   These guys have my heater unit on their record for convenience and hassle free understanding of what I have been going through. It's busy out there so I had to wait several weeks for a non-emergency appointment. It was worth the wait. John and Mike showed up not only wearing masks during this COVID pandemic time but even put on shoe booties to avoid tracking in during the drizzling weather. They not only serviced my Valor Fireplace, cleaning the glass and replacing a corroding battery pack, but they discovered and repaired a gas leak in the process with no additional charge. Given how 2020 has gone so far, I consider myself more than a little lucky to have hired George Salet Plumbing. Mike and John prevented what could have been a disaster. We had two sinks back up and Reuben from Salet was able to come out same day (To Montara from Brisbane) and help us. It was a difficult clog for several reasons, but Reuben tried several different solutions before finding one that worked for us. He stayed optimistic and assured me we'd get the problem fixed one way or another. VERY reasonably priced, prompt and professional service, and user friendly scheduling. Can't recommend enough!

My water heater went out, and I was left with cold showers -- one of the worst things ever.

I called up George Salet, got an appointment a few days later, and Alan came by.  He made a diagnosis in a few minutes, took some time to confirm that diagnosis, and then got to work.  He finished within 1 hour (granted, this was a fairly straightforward problem to fix).  He topped it off with some good recommendations and thoughts about what to do as my water heater ages and reaches the end of its useful life.

George Salet is now my go-to plumbers.  They are quick, knowledgeable and great communicators -- exactly what you want in a plumber.

Excellent service & work!

George Salet Plumbing installed an external gas line for our new fireplace. The team was very professional. George Salet took time to explain the process to me and was available for follow up questions. He came out twice to look at the fireplace prior to installation to make sure everything was good to go.
Trevor who did the actual installation was extremely friendly and professional. He did great work, was very knowledgeable and proactive in communicating the process to me.

I had an issue with my hot water. I called Georges Salet, and they gave me an appointment a few days later.
I was served by Alan and Tyler. They quickly diagnosed that the tank was leaking, preventing exhaust and needed replacement.
They clearly walked me through the options, process of replacement, and took the time to explain what they were doing and why which was very beneficial for the novice that I am.
They had a lot of empathy since it was the middle of winter, and even though it was a national day off with many shops closed, they went back and forth to a warehouse and come back with a new tank and replace the hot water tank.
This was extremely appreciated. It was the right mix of professionalism, empathy and efficiency. I strongly recommend them.

The BEST! On a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend, after wasting 2 hours waiting for Ace plumbing to show up (they never did, nor did they call), I was desperate to have our toilet fixed before the weekend. I called George Salet Plumbing, they came out within 90 minutes and took care of everything.

Fernando was friendly, professional, competent, quick and neat. He put on shoe protectors before coming in and protected our bathroom floor with a mat. He explained the problem, told me the cost of the replacement part, and actually had the part in his truck --a real time-saver!

Very reasonable price for the repair, no separate charge for labor or travel time. And a 1 year warranty for the repair! What's not to like?

I'll be calling GS Plumbing from now on for all our plumbing needs. And so should you! If you need a good plumber, stop looking and call this company. You'll be glad you did!

Important to know that they dont work on the weekends.  Then, you can't just book an appointment -  you have to first get an estimate.  So I take time off of work to meet them at my apartment for an estimate on my broken toilet, which they subsequently email (the next day).  Then you can't just call them back with the estimate to book the appointment directly - you have to accept the estimate online and then don't call them - they will call you.  Of course I am at work so by the time I figure it all out and play phone tag to try and make an appointment after having accepted the online estimate, they tell me their first available appointment to actually fix the toilet is 2 weeks away.  A week lost trying to book with them!

The best thing I got from the company that installed my gas fireplace after it stopped working was a referral to George Salet and getting that referral wasn't easy.  The rest was as smooth as could be.  They arrived on time, dressed with COVID19 precautions, diagnosed and solved the problem quickly.  After the work was done, they cleaned up completely.  Alan was great - knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant..  I highly recommend them and now, after many years, have a plumber to call!

I live in an old building that had to be retrofitted. It looks like whoever did the retrofit screwed my landlord over and did a crappy job. Flashforward to 2018 when actual crap is leaking out of the plumbing into the bowels of the building.

Finally George Salet plumbing came to the rescue! I shared with two of the plumbers that I hadn't had a fully functioning toiliet in almost 14 months after other workers kept breaking their promise to fix it.

Amidst the coronavirus and being 8 months pregnant we had an absolutely fantastic experience with Alan Byrne. He is professional, experienced, ensures the work is done correctly, the quote was very reasonable (we called 3 other plumbers too) and they were clean and very careful entering our home. He installed our Grohe shower controls, spout and showerhead. Our building is tricky because it's a condo and requires water shutoffs but he was patient and worked through the parts and what the previous plumber had left behind. I recently had Alan and his apprentice Fernando come out to repair my Valor fireplace.  When I made the appointment, I was told Alan was the fireplace expert...and he IS!  He quickly figured out the problem and had my fireplace up and running properly in no time!  I had a different person try to fix it before, but he wasn't able to figure out what was wrong.  Alan was likeable, efficient, and very knowledgeable!  He was also clean and took the time to make sure everything was put back in place properly!

I also appreciated the way Alan worked with Fernando.  He took the time to show him what to do, explain why it needed to be done, and even have him do some of the work so he could get actual experience.  Fernando was also very pleasant and professional.  Overall, I am VERY happy with Alan, Fernando, and George Salet Plumbing!!

Alan and Tyler repaired my aging Montigo fireplace to perfection.

They make a great team as they were courteous, on-time, and did an excellent job. They were knowledgeable, patient, and well prepared.

We hired George Salet Plumbing to service our gas fireplaces (Heat & Glo). We live in a condo building and coordinated it so that two units could have service done on the same day. Alan arrived within the designated time frame, was very professional and courteous from the get-go. I appreciated that he brought disposable booties to keep the inside clean, especially since it was raining.

Each unit had two fireplaces and Alan was extremely knowledgeable about not just the fireplace but also took the time to explain things to me, and provide his expert opinion on prioritizing maintenance. I appreciated his honesty and candor, and he made me feel confident in his abilities and that he wasn't trying to sell me anything unnecessary. He taught me how to pair the fireplace remote with the receiver, and made sure to repeat instructions so that I understood before he left.

Another neighbor came over and asked if Alan could take a look at his malfunctioning fireplace and Alan was so accommodating, and was able to fit him in.

I'm extremely happy with the service we received and will not hesitate to call Alan again with any issues on our fireplace, or plumbing! All of the neighbors in the building agree that Alan is now our go-to man.

Update: Another of the Valor Fireplace insert-heaters was giving us fits. The biggest problem was that it appeared to go out (burner and pilot) when the wind blew too strongly. Since it was a relatively new phenomenon AND we had recently had work done in the area of the chimney, the suggestion was to put a wind-proof cap on the top of the vent.

When this proved not to solve the problem, Alan and Tyler came out and Alan's expertise from years of experience with this sort of appliance suggested a different cause for the failures. It's hard to prove a negative (like: it won't fail again now), so I'm writing this review before we even have 24 hours since the repair was made, in order to compliment Alan and Tyler on their knowledge, energetic response to getting the problem resolved and compassionate understanding of what it means to be a resident with unreliable heat.

Excellent! First time I had to call service on a gas fireplace. Went down the list on yelp and luckily I landed with them. First of all they were able to set an appointment within a week while everyone else could only give me an appointment 3-4 weeks from the day of my call.  Enok was one of the technicians that showed up and both of them were extremely polite and cautious and they wore shoe covers to make sure they would not bring dirt into the house. They identify and fix the problem in a blink of an eye, explained and recommend what future services their company can be useful with and walked me through on how to use the controls they just installed. What a life saver! Had a great experience with the water heater removal/installation service. A friend recommended their work and it paid off.

Dwayne was super helpful in explaining what needs to be done and how he'll be able to help. He gave me options to select from and explained all the details. Started the estimate discussion at 10am, had an agreement of the work at 10:30 and he was off to pick up the water heater ready for installation. He came back with the water heater around 11:30am and the job was done by 3:30pm.

My natural gas fireplace is up and operational.
Under any conditions such an installation is a long and a trying process. The really tough part of the installation came in the afternoon when the heating unit was taken out of the package.Parts had been damaged in shipment. It looked like the whole unit was going to have to be sent back to Amazon.com and the installation delayed a couple of weeks. Alan went to work thinking outside the box. He got the system installed and working. He went to do the permit process. He suggested a second chimney inspection to make sure that there were no safety issues. In short, he and Abe did a great job!!!

An installer came out to give us a price on running a gas line to our fireplace (a very short run, approximately 15 feet).  The bid came out at $3,600.  Needless to say, we took the bid for $1,000.00

When we mentioned that the bid was 3x higher than other bids, the installer said, We do lots of work in San Francisco.  Seriously lame.

Alan and his assistant came 3 times. when my tankless water heater was dripping they fixed it and a few days later it leaked even more but they came right away and tightened it again. they ordered a replacement part and came up with some other creative solutions to my other strange plumbing issues and got it all fixed up today.

I know that not all plumbers would have added a small drain pipe the way Alan did - and the fees were real really reasonable.

I had two issues....a gas fireplace that would not turn on and a toilet that would not stop running. Mike arrived on time and listened carefully to my concerns. They say that it is a free estimate but it is not. As soon as they show up, they tell you that to do a diagnostic is $158.  
They should tell you on the telephone that it will be $158 to do a diagnostic. The only thing they do for free is show up at your house. They did, however, diagnose the problem in one minute and repair of the situation in two minutes.

Alan helped me fix an inset heater (those are apparently pretty rare, a previous heater expert did not know how to work on it).  Turns out it was working, just needed to open the flume a little.  Alan explained the parts of the heater to me, and charged a service fee that was very reasonable.

I was happy to pay because he did indeed fix my heater- I would never have figured out the flume on my own- and I got a lesson on heaters too.

I will now be happily calling for plumbing and everything else that I need fixed.

I had a persistent leak in my kitchen ceiling that I had repaired by another plumber. I used Angie's List to vet a couple of plumbers and got two quotes. Although both estimates where almost identical with the exception of the add-ons on the other estimate.  After talking with Scott, the technician from George Salet, I decided to have him repair the leak. I was impressed with his knowledge and approach to repair this leak in a hard to reach spot and he explained why the old repair hadn't held up.

Ive worked with George Salet across a number of properties and issues. He and his team has always been prompt and extremely professional. Shout out to Isaac who came by yesterday and helped us diagnose a problem in our shower, recommend a way to  fix it that would cost less, and didn't even charge us for the visit. George Salet has been our go to plumber for a number of years.  He and his team have  put in all of our water heaters over the years and taken care of our plumbing issues from replacing toilets to fixing water lines, to showers to faucets for us. Recently MIke Ruiz came out to help us with a clogged sink and with our water heater.  Tai and Yvette on the phone are always professional and caring. Mike was prompt, polite, knowledgeable and efficient.  He always had a mask and shoe covers on and was ever the consummate  professional.   My husband and I were very impressed by him. Affable and smart,  he identified and addressed the issues right away  and made proactive suggestions to prevent future plumbing issues on the spot.  George Salet made the executive decision to replace our water heater to prevent any future problems all under warrantee.  Mike and Sal were efficient and professional.  They removed  and replaced our water heater with great teamwork. Mike had a plan and executed it well.  He is very safety oriented and a great teacher as he reviewed steps with his teammate . We have never been disappointed by George Salet Plumbing.  They provide excellent, superb, knowledgeable  white glove, full service.   Thanks to George Salet Plumbing . Not a good service. They came in to fix the shower trim just yesterday and I used a couple of times. After the second time it's a lot worse than before they fix it. No water is coming out! The guy who came in took so long to fix it, yet he didnt fix it right. He said next time they charge more. I was expecting him to replace the whole trim so its one time fix. So disappointed besides that they charge a lot! $150+ just to tighten the screw!?

Finding a reliable, trustworthy and capable plumber is about as simple as decoding the human genome sequence. Luckily, I was handed a golden ticket the day I was referred to George Salet Plumbing.

Like clockwork, Alan (plumber) arrived promptly at my home and got to work on investigating a shower back-up issue that had caused a horrendous overflow. Alan's questions were direct, and his communication was clear and concise. He also took the time to explain to me what had caused the issue and shared preventative tips.

Alan's customer service oriented rapport and pleasant demeanor has secured my loyalty as a super satisfied George Salet Plumbing patron. I highly recommend!

This is a good company and Duane was a smart and dedicated plumber. I had one of those projects that you think would take an hour or two but ended up taking two days. :-) This wasn't  the plumber's fault; it was due to a number of factors.

First, I needed them to install a Toto Neorest toilet, which is not a standard toilet. It's big and needed to be carried upstairs. Everything about the installation was complicated due, in part, to the design of the toilet. It required the water to be shut off in the building and, since this is a new condo building, it wasn't obvious how to do that. The installation also required drilling new anchors into our floor, which also ended up being harder than expected.

Once the toilet was successfully installed -- it took 10 hours total dealing with a variety of factors -- there were impacts to our neighbors' plumbing. The building pipes were filled with sediment and turning the water back on clogged people's toilet valves. I called George Salet and they found a way to get Duane back out here the same day I called. He worked with me for a couple of hours going to our neighbors' units to get their toilets back in working order.

There was more to the story, but suffice it to say that every step of the way they were helpful and understood my situation. I would have happily paid them more for all of the unexpected effort; but they just charged me the originally quoted price.

This is the only plumbing company I will use in the future.

Alan did a sewer line clean-out for us from street to house. Cleared some very wicked tree roots and got us back on line quickly and easily. Great communication from the guys as they went along so that we knew what was happening every step of the way. Highest rating for the service.

I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who came to look at my hot water heater. He was just incredibly nice and helpful. He reset the lighting mechanism at no charge :) (the pilot light kept going out) and recommended waiting to see if that does the trick before moving on to any cleaning/replacing. So far, so good. I will definitely call George Salet if I need future work done!

We've called George Salet Plumbing several times over the past few years, as well as recommended them to friends.  Most recently, Isaac arrived right when expected, and quickly unstopped our kitchen sink and replaced the very old broken garbage disposal.  They have always come on time, and worked efficiently with great results, for a reasonable price!

Gosh, there are some kind and generous people in business and in the world. We saw the George Salet Plumbing Truck across the street from our house. My spouse trotted out the door and asked Marshall Samuels some questions about our dishwasher hot water connection. George Salet Plumbing was excellent! I called to get assistance with hooking up a remote control for a gas fire place. The office staff was easy to communicate with and was very responsive. Tyler showed up right on time and was professional, courteous and competent. He was patient in explaining what he was doing, and quickly troubleshot and resolved the problem. He also shared information about the other services George Salet Plumbing provides. Our cute little fireplace now goes on and off with the touch of a button. I highly, highly recommend them!

I was having problems with my tankless water heater. This company was recommended to me. I called for an appointment. One was available the next afternoon. The lady taking the appointment was nice and friendly. Alan was the tech that showed up a half hour after my scheduled two hour time frame. Very impressed!  Alan was fantastic. He showed me what was wrong with my tankless and explained things to me as he worked. Alan was awesome!!!  Super nice and funny. I'm beyond happy with my experience with this company/business!!!

We had a leaking Takagi water heater problem so Alan and his assistant came over to help us with a free estimate. Alan walked us through a few different options that we had with his professional opinion. Before leaving, he also helped us check the water pressure to make sure it wasn't too high for our heater. Overall, we had a nice chat about how to solve my heater problem and I learned more about how to take care of it!

Alan came to service our Valor gas fireplace. He did a great job! We told him about the problem we were having with the hot water in our house. We have a commercial tankless water heater.  Alan was able to examine the entire system and diagnosed the problem. The job was done methodically, efficiently and cleanly. I scheduled an appointment with a dispatcher named Thai on a Friday for the following Wednesday.  15 minutes after the 9-10 arrival window I called asking if the plumber was on the way.  She put me on hold two times and replied that the plumber's truck had transmission problems and that they would not make the appointment.  I expressed my frustration given the fact that I had specifically told her that the condominium complex was shutting off the water in my building for the appointment.  She claimed I never told her that.  I reminded her that I had most definitely told her that.  She interrupted me a number of times and became belligerent.  I asked to speak to her supervisor.  A gentleman named George answered and I relayed the events and how Thai had mishandled the situation.  He expressed little sympathy and said Life Happens as a justification for missing the appointment and doing nothing to contact me with the situation as it was developing.  I expressed my disappointment and he even tried to brush off their lack of responsiveness by asking me if I had a transmission seeming to suggest that I should be more understanding of mechanical breakdowns.  He said the conversations with Thai were recorded and that he would find out if I were telling the truth about the water shutoff restriction.  He asked if I wanted to reschedule and I enthusiastically declined.  If zero stars were available I would have used that as a rating.   Avoid this plumbing outfit at all costs.

They bailed us out.  We have a 1 1/2 year old gas fireplace that went on the fritz.  We called the retailer twice and they promised but failed to send a repairman.  We were referred to George Salet Plumbing by another gas fireplace retailer and they fixed it. They are very busy but the technician, Tyler, came on time, was courteous and knowledgeable.  We will definitely use them again should we have any other problems.

Here's how to save your self over $400 in the form of a true story from this week regarding George Salet Plumbing in San Francisco:  I have a Takagi TK-2 tankless water heater.  It has never worked properly, as it comes on only part of the time - sometimes it also shuts off unexpectedly.  I have called Takagi customer service numerous times, and never got to the bottom of it during those calls, but I was able to eliminate just about all of the potential problems through discussions with them and testing out various things like cleaning the water filter.  I didn't think was a problem with the unit or design, as it is rated highly and I own a second one that works like a champ.  On the last phone call with the manufacturer, they said that they burner was probably dirty from lint from my dryer or dust.   So I called Geoge Salet plumbing for a free estimate.

The receptionist was very friendly and efficient. They came out promptly and the technician was friendly, clean, and seemed to be knowledgeable.

I told the him what the manufacturer had said to me - the burner was dirty.  I also explained all of the other things I have checked on the unit, from previous phone calls with the manufacturer.  Thus, I had pretty much diagnosed the problem.  

Their estimate was a surprising $433.29 to clean the burner.  They said that the burner was probably dirty from dust during installation or from lint.  They showed me some dust at the bottom of the unit on the cover.  I was shocked at their estimate.  When I asked about a discount, they said that it already included a discount for being a new customer.  

The plumber then offered something about needing to hook up their compressor to an electrical power supply... was their one nearby the unit?   I said that there was.  At the time, I took this to mean he was making the job sound more difficult than it really was... trying to justify nearly $500 for cleaning a gas burner.  Cleaning a gas burner didn't sound like a big deal to me.

So I got an idea:  I went down to Office Depot and bought one of those cans of compressed gas used to clean computer keyboards with - the kind that shoots a benign jet of compressed air in tight spaces.  The can itself cost me $6.99.  I got home, turned off the gas and electricity, opened the unit with just TWO screws, then opened the cover to the burner with just TWO MORE screws.  I then shot some of the compressed air at the burner for about 20 seconds.  Then I closed the unit and turned back on the gas and electricity.

Guess what?  Problem solved for $6.99 - the cost of the can.  

POSTSCRIPT:  After I wrote the above review, I got a call within 1 hour from the owner of the company - George Salat himself.  He was patient and curtious with me and offered to see if they could do something to satisfy me as a customer - a great move on his part.  I appreciated that - but said that I was already satisfied since I had fixed the problem myself.  I wasn't asking them for anything other than to perhaps suggest this type of quick fix solution to customers in the future before offering a $400+ solution.

He understood my concerns - but advised that the fix I did wasn't the kind of thing they really should offer customers, as the cleaning might not be good enough in that the problem could resurface later.  I think he's technically right about this....  

On the other hand, (in my personal view) sometimes good enough is good enough.  In a perfect world (again my personal view only), the plumbing company should advise consumers that there might be a quick fix that could save them a lot of money.  They could advise that this fix might not work forever and that the problem could come back, of course, since that probably would be a good idea too.  

If they had done this in this case, they would have won a customer for life.  They would have lost a little revenue this time around - but Im sure I would have called them many times in the future.  It's a good thing to know a great plumber - especially in a town with a lot of old buildings with old plumbing.

Obviously there are always two sides to any story.  In this case, I'm glad I thought of my MacGyver (TV show reference) solution.  I bet it will be a good solution for many years to come.  If a problem resurfaces, I bet I can do the same thing again and get the same good result.

I'm sure the $400 cleaning would have been a better solution.  But as for me, I'd rather have that money in my pocket.

Wanted to charge me about 6 hundred to install a gas dryer and washer, claiming that parts prices would run high (though the new machines came with almost everything).
He also told me that he couldn't install the pedestals because I was short some pieces, and showed me the pieces.
I installed it myself for about 38 dollars in parts, and the pieces he showed me turned out to be patches for the back of the washer and had nothing to do with the pedestals.

I had a fixutre that needed to be changed in my bathroom.  I had called out George Salet Plumbing- Hamseh came the SAME DAY to fix the problem.  I would recommend George Salet Plumbing to all of my friends and family.

My first Yelp review.

Ed rocked this out!  I had serious blockage in kitchen sink drain, and lower level guest bath sink was draining slow.  He started with snake of the lines, and after 100 ft he realized this was bigger issue.

Long story short, Ed found the problem, cut the line having problems, snaked to clear it all up and then installed one of those access things (what do I know about plumbing) so this is easier next time I need it.

Super professional, super efficient, and super knowledgeable.  He gave great guidance on what the heck we can and cannot put down our disposal, and put everything back to 100%.  Awesome job!

Excellent service!

We had a component failure in our Tagaki tankless water heater which was misdiagnosed by Tagaki tech support and TWO other plumbers.

Alan was able to diagnose the actual problem in a few minutes, effect a work around so hot water service was restored immediately, and ordered the replacement part which he personally reinstalled within 24hrs of the part arrival.

Will definitely use again for any & all plumbing needs.  Good guys.

I recommend their services. Alan came out and got our gas fireplace working again. It took some simple adjustments.
In contrast, we'd been trying for over one month to get the fireplace which we purchased from Warm Solutions five years ago to ignite.  We called Warm Solutions. They took one month to reply after numerous calls. Finally they sent a repairman and a bill for $664 to accept before they'd proceed.
Alan found that the various parts that WS said were defective worked perfectly.
Professional, reasonable, and friendly service. I'll definitely be calling Salet's again.

Tuesday night, 9 PM, new home in new town where we don't know much of anyone...kitchen sink clogs.  No way to use dishwasher, garbage disposal, or even sink.  Unhappy family; unhappy me.  So....

First thing Wednesday morning, use Yelp to find plumbers near my zip code.  First guy I call can't be here until Friday (!) but recommends George Salet Plumbing, so I call them next.  Receptionist is awesome, says someone can be on site by noon...then calls back 15 min later to say the guy is already on his way and should arrive by 10:30.  Which is to say, only about 30 minutes after I called!

And, indeed, Steve appears at my door at 10:30.  He diagnoses the problem, clearly explains my options, no pressure, etc.  I chose which option I wanted, and he took care of it meticulously and professionally--and cleaned up when he was done.  Plus he was personable and friendly, the kind of person I don't mind having in my home.  Excellent work!

Are they inexpensive?  No, they're not.  But this is the SF bay area, and their employees have to live in this insanely-expensive place along with the rest of us.  I figure I got what I paid for, which makes me a happy customer.  I'll gladly do business with them again.  Use them with no reservations...highly recommended!

This last time Rafael was awesome - he took the time to explain and show me the problem, discussed pricing and was really personable. My wife and I had additional plumbing related questions and he gave us some great advice.

Called George Salet on Thursday night (4/2/13) regarding a State water heater that had suddenly died 10 days previous.  I had called Sears service (they service state water heaters) come out and try to fix a week earlier.

Initially Sears told me that the heater had a broken blower and that it needed replacement -- we did this,  and it came four days later for replacement. However the Next sears tech guy (not the same as the one who originally came, which always creates problems of continuity) told me that I was missing a sensor that would unlock the heater control system, BUT, State doesn't make this part anymore (on a five year old heater???) and he suggested that I replace it with a Kenmore (Do we feel a scam coming on...)   More waiting.

I talked to Sears the next morning (4/2) and they offered under the State warranty, a new Kenmore (ok, not so bad) and they would come out the same day and install it.  The installer got to my house, took one look at the POWER VENT heater and said, I can't replace that with the model I have, it wouldn't even work in your system (power vent).  I called Sears, furious (you would think someone would have written down CUSTOMER HAS POWER VENT HEATER, REPLACE WITH SAME.  The Sears customer service person gets on and says, Oh, no, this is the correct heater, however, since code has changed in your area, you now need to install a new venting system in your house for the Heater and that the tech would install a chimney (I live in a townhome, NO WAY I would get that permit, etc for a heater? Are you kidding me?? - it's a townhome that's 5 years old).

I freaked out and said STOP!!  

Still no hot water. I then went online, found a set of plumbers on the State website and started calling.  One very nice woman I called, said they had no times to come out until Tuesday (it's Friday) and that I should call George Salet, I called George around 5, and talked to a receptionist, who was very nice, but when I went to setup the appointment for 4/3, she said, Oh, no, we don't service Emeryville, let me talk to the Boss, George.  She then handed the phone to George.

I told George my story, he listened quietly and never interrupted me once. I pleaded and begged George to help me, since there is only so many cold showers one can take before losing ones mind. He said quietly, OK, I'll help.  He said he would call me in the morning and to sit tight, all will be ok. He called the next morning and said that a tech would be out in the morning. I thanked him again, profusely.

The tech came (4/3), Alan, who immediately noticed that the lockout code on the heater hadn't been entered, PROBLEM ONE,  and that, GET THIS!! I had a gas leak too BIG PROBLEM TWO!!. The idiot Sears guys never checked for a gas leak and the heater was shutting off as it should have. Considering everything, if these idiots from Sears had managed to turn on the heater through whatever brute force MacGyver jerry-rigging they were trying (they were trying), they would have burned my house down. Thanks Sears, never use them again.

Alan fixed it, turned on the heater, and ALL was GOOD. I thanks them and we have HOT WATER!!

Now, George didn't have to help here, he could have done what the other 4 state certified plumbers did when I called them, sorry, out of our service area, call so-and-so. He went above and beyond the call and helped us and for that I'm very thankful.

I will most definitely recommend him to anyone needing a up and up plumbing company that helps its clients and doesn't attempt to burn down their homes like Sears.

We had a tough job running a gas line from our kitchen to the fireplace.  Alan was fantastic to work with and was never phased by any unexpected issues.  His team spent a lot of time making sure it was done right and that we passed our inspection.  George has been in the business for may years and now I know why.  We would recommend them for any plumbing job.

I've had George Salat's people out for a few different tasks -- fireplace maintenance, kitchen faucet, shower. Booking process is easy. Plumbers show up on time and are courteous/professional. Price seems fine, in line with other plumbers. Billing and estimates are provided via email, rather than on paper. Most recently I had Alan and Tyler to my apartment. They were patient with my questions (and theories) about the problem. Tyler is in training and it was nice to see how Alan coached him; it made me think it's probably a pleasant workplace. Great folks.

We just remodeled our entire kitchen in Brisbane. I've used George Salet before and always found him to be responsive, professional and fast. I was on a tight schedule with my wife in China for 2 weeks. When she came back, I needed to have the new fridge and sink in and working. George sent Steven to help me out. Steven is a great guy, a happy guy who wants to make the customers happy. He ran a water service to the new fridge in the blink of an eye, all the time explaining what he was doing and why. I had to call Steven back to hook up the water the new sink, and thought I'd made and appointment for the following Monday. It turned out that I had made a mistake. The appointment wasn't till a week from Monday, after my wife was due to return. Steven came over after his regular work day, and stayed 3 hours to get the dishwasher and disposal hooked up and the water working. He was the same happy guy, even when he ran into some trouble under the sink. He finished the work before he went home, and the estimate did not change. George is not the cheapest plumber you might be able to find, but he is the best. He won't sell you cheap water heaters or do a slipshod job. If you want it done right, with a heart, call George. Maybe you'll get lucky and Steven will show up to help you out!

Enok is excellent!  He brought booty shoes in this rainy day so my floor stayed clean.  He went an extra mile to show me how to replace the battery of my fireplace and put the battery box in a place easier for me to access.  He reset the time and temperature on the remote control for me.  The fireplaces works great now!  Thanks Enok and George Salet!

George Salet plumbers are very friendly, helpful and efficient. Last year, Alan did a great job replacing the thermostat for my gas fire which worked out very well. Alan and Tyler came out today and were very helpful. The fire was not lighting again, but it turned out that if you waited a while after switching it on then it lit. Alan explained that sometimes air gets trapped in the pipe after PG&E have done work and he kindly waived the charge.

well, my hot water on demand tank wasn't working, and i called salet plumbing. It was late in the day and Yvette (who answered the phone) said it would be about eight days before i could schedule an appointment. Eight days without hot water! Yikes! yvette was kind enough to hand me off to (owner) george and he asked me a few questions in an attempt to solve the problem over the phone. He spent a good ten minutes trying to help, and failing that, volunteered to try his best to work me into his busy schedule. The very next day, Yvette called and said she had an opening, could squeeze me in that day and two hours later, outstanding employee, alan, was at my door. He diagnosed the problem, pulled out a paper clip (seriously!) and temporarily fixed me up, so that i at least had hot water until he could get back to do some proper maintenance. (i asked alan if his last name was mcgyver''). Anyway, today, alan came and fixed everything-- and i am a happy camper. And in writing this review, i noticed Triston C had the same no-hot-water situation as i did, and in HIS review, he, too, had alan coming to the rescue. And, like Tristan C, i am also making Salet Plumbing my go-to plumbers.

Our Mendota fireplace has not worked properly since our contractor installed it during a remodel earlier this year.  Three visits from the company that sold us the fireplace failed to fix the problem.  We contacted George Salet.  Alan and Mike came out and immediately diagnosed the problem and suggested a fix.  These guys know their stuff and we couldn't be happier with the outcome.

When I called for appointment for fire places problem, I was told there is no charge, the service person will let me know the costs for parts and labor charge, but I was charged 260.00 for diagnostic.

Great experience. When there was a slight miscommunication George came to the appointment himself to make sure we got the best possible service. Alan stayed and replaced the valve for the dishwasher. The water was supposed to be turned off by the time Alan started working but the building's maintenance guys did not have it done yet and it was taking a really long time because they had to drain a whole tower of condos. Alan remained professional and helpful the whole time. I would recommend him in a heartbeat! He did such a great job that the on site maintenance crew (who apparently had a higher certification than Alan) asked him to help another tenant and asked for his card. I was super impressed.

Alan Byrne is amazing!  After 1 friend, 3 contractors and 2 other plumbers couldn't fix my Grohe Aquatower 3000 wall system, Alan did it...and in under 1.5 hours!  He also fixed my fireplace, which wasn't really broken after all, but I learned receivers have batteries too.  It was worth the minor embarrassment to me to have everything working properly again.  9 years in San Francisco and I finally have a great plumber! As far as the appointment system goes, George Salet Plumbing had availability 2 1/2 weeks out for my issue.  They cancelled because someone was hurt, which I understand, and rescheduled for 5 days later.  Alan wasn't the name I was given, but I'm glad it was him that arrived.

I finally had some much-needed plumbing work completed by Alan that was done in one day instead of the original 1- 1/2 day estimate. He did the walk-through with me and made recommendations for things I would never know could become a problem, and pre-flight, he was available for questions and concerns so I was fully prepared.

I had a whole-house filter installed (do your homework if you want to install one) which was tricky since we didn't have any blueprints to work with--I was warned I may only have half of my place filtered--the preferred half was the outcome. My kitchen faucet handles were adjusted (my previous plumber installed the faucet and walked away) so the paddles weren't sitting on the counter. Most importantly, all the drains were cleaned out [choir sings] and I no longer have to watch water drain...eventually.

There's more work to be done after I save more pennies but now I have a revised list with Alan's help, and hope to get this done within the year.

I've gone through a fair number of plumbers in my home owning years. I recently had some issues with my Kohler toilet (Rialto one piece toilet), specifically with the flapper valve and continuous running of water.  I contacted a competitor and he told me that I would need to replace the entire toilet. I knew this to be false because I did a bit of research. I then found the plumber at George Salet Inc. He was able to fix the problem in less than 30 minutes. He saved me $400 or more by fixing the existing toilet. If I hadn't done my research, I would have ended up needing to pay for work that was unnecessary. I am happy to find a plumbing company and individual employees that have integrity and skills in their trade. I will continue to use this company in the future for other plumbing needs. I'm giving this company three stars only because their office personnel and the owner were really nice to me when I spoke to them. My husband and and I had George Salet's plumbers come out three times to fix or replace the toilet in our condo in San Bruno. The first plumber Dwayne was very nice but was not able to fix the leaking problem. By the second visit, we decided to completely replace the toilet so we bought a Toto toilet from a plumbing supply place. Enok showed up to install. He didn't even bother to take the toilet out of the box to look at it. He insisted that we needed an American Standard 14 rough in toilet that the compact 12 toilet from Toto would not fit and that there would be three inches or more gap in the back. We trusted what Enok told us even though he seemed very annoyed with us and he claimed every brand of toilet was crap except for American Standard. My husband and I spent the week looking for anyone that carried a 14 rough in toilet. After a few days we found that not many places carried that size so I contacted the office of George Salet and asked if they may be able to help us in the search. George Jr. spoke to me and spent me four different toilets descrptions as an option. A Toto Carlyle was one of the four options from George. We bought that model and when Enok returned he told us the toilet would not fit and to return it again even though that model of toilet has an adapter that will convert the toilet from a 12 to 14 rough in. At this point we felt like we were not getting the service we wanted so we told Enok that we would return the toilet and set up another appointment.
We had no intention of calling him back, we just wanted him out of our place. The very next weekend another plumber came and installed the Toto Caryle without issue. The gap behind the toilet is only 1 1/2 inch which is  much less than Enok told us. I don't know why he was so insistent on an American Standard but we don't plan on calling George Salet Plumbing again if this is the type of plumbers they hire.

These guys are amazing!  I have had several plumbing emergencies on weekends and holidays and they have shown up and expertly fixed whatever was wrong.  Allan, Dwayne, and John are a pleasure to work with and always leave everything spotless when they are finished.  Nothing is as satisfying as having a backed up toilet, leaking pipe or blocked sewer line fixed when it is critical to one's peace of mind and sanity.  Thank you George Salet Plumbing!

Very capable but very over priced. For any common job such as toilets, clogs, installations I would search elsewhere for someone who charges by the hour not by the job. Sallet's job pricing is inflated. For complex, delicate jobs like going behind walls and underground, their expert experience may be worth the inflated pricing.

They were quick to schedule a guy to come out and give a quote, he arrived on time, walked the job thoroughly, gave me the pros and cons of the various ways to install a tankless water heater.  Unfortunately, he didn't have the price of the heater in his book, so he'd have to get back to me.

So now here it is 6 weeks later, after 5 phone calls over several weeks, including talking to George (assuming THE George) himself, and I still don't have a quote.  Don't know how competent their installers are, or if they would ever respond to a warranty complaint, (but I now have my opinion, and it isn't warm and fuzzy).

Needless to say, I'm not impressed.

Don't know about their pricing, but on one piece of the job, their book price was $2500 (given verbally), the other guy was $1000.  I will never know about the rest of the job, since I told them not to bother themselves trying to finish it, and then the receptionist just hung up on me.  No apologies, not even good-bye, just click.

I called George Salet Plumbing the first week of June to get them to come out and do a sewer lateral inspection for a remodel.

The receptionist would not give me the price on this type of service and said that the plumbers would give it to me in person.  I figured it would be competitive though.  I was wrong.

When they came to the house, they looked at their pricing manual and it said $450!  When I said that seemed like a lot, they did give me a 10% discount though for a total cost of $400.  .

The plumbers' attitude and service were great.  However, the reason for the one star is the ripoff factor as the market price of this service is in the $200 range (per the city and online research).  

If you are going to use these guys, I recommend that you get some other quotes to verify that you are getting a competitive rate for service.  I probably won't use them again as I feel that my trust has been violated a bit.

Wow! We had a clog in our sewer system on a Saturday afternoon that shut our whole plumbing down. Dwayne came within an hour and spent two hours trying to clear the line. Steve came back first thing on Sunday morning with heavier machinery and got us up and running by 11:00am. Amazing work all around and both Dwayne and Steve were totally professional, clean, and conscientious. They were willing to answer all of our questions and were sensitive to our worries that we were looking at a huge plumbing problem, potentially. The overall charge was completely reasonable for emergency plumbing services on a weekend and I would recommend them without hesitation.

Alan and his partner were very professional.  They were able to fix my 'older' gas fireplace.  I originally requested for them to hook-up a remote control for the gas fireplace and I ended-up with a thermostat which saved me some money and better suited my needs.  They left my living room spotless.  I highly recommend George Salet Plumbing...thanks guys!

I've used these plumbers, in the past, for assistance in bathroom remodel projects I have done.  One of their senior plumbers, Scott, patiently listened to my design requirements and cheerfully obliged.  Scott was exceedingly professional and didn't treat me like I was naive.

Yesterday our tankless water heater stopped working.  I made the mistake of not calling George Salet Plumbing first.  I called another company who sent a guy out to convince me that it would cost $1500 to repair the unit, or $5000 to replace it.  He said he was an 'expert' with our model, and couldn't stop telling me what a piece of junk it was; even though it's been working perfectly for 12 years.

I was stressing about having to outlay that kind of money, when I remembered my past experience with George Salet Plumbing.  I gave them a call and they sent out Alan.

Alan looked at the unit and said this model is my specialty!.  I was a bit skeptical having heard that hours before.  He opened the unit, pressed a hidden reset button, and voilla!  Hot water!  It took him all of one minute to get my water heater working again.  Well worth the $65 service call fee.

I will never call another plumber except these guys.

I will also be leaving a scathing review for those other guys.

5 stars for the promptness. Gave them a call before noon and the technician showed up within 2 hours.

1 star for the exorbitant prices. The part of the water heater that needed to be replaced was covered by the manufacture warranty, but he still charged me over $300 for labor. I thought it was going to be a long and difficult process but he finished the job within 30 - 40 minutes.

He also charged me over $200 for a strap kit and said it was required by law to have it. When the job was finished I asked him incredulously whether the cheaply made plastic strap was really worth over $200. He said yeah, I had to measure and install it.

After he left I found out that purchasing the water heater had cost only $400, and now fixing it cost over $500! The landlord actually paid for all of this, so I didn't care that much. But I would avoid them, unless you think you have too much money. They call themselves your skilled, clean, honest plumbers. Skilled and clean, maybe, honest? not really.

I needed to fix a leaky bathtub, so I brought three plumbers in to give me estimates for the job.  The first guy gave me a vastly inflated estimate and the second said he couldn't even diagnose the problem without charging me.  Finally, the guy from George Salet Plumbing arrived and spent 45 minutes with me testing every possible angle for leaks, all without charging me anything.  We found out that the problem wasn't a big plumbing job, but instead required some sealant around the edges of the tub.  He suggested that I get a handyman out to do the work at a fraction of the cost of the other bids, saving me around $1000.  I would recommend George Salet for their friendliness, integrity, and insistence on putting the customer first.

We had moved into our 1942 home and had been living in it for three years with great pressure throughout the entire house, except the bathroom shower, which also had leaky faucets. We tried getting the problem fixed three times before finding and calling George Salet Plumng. Mr. Hamzeh Zagahahi, came out to and fixed our leaky faucets (preserving the original 1940's faucet facade) replaced all the inner seals, inner mechanisms, and fixed our shower pressure problem without tearing out any walls. We now take hot showers, with good pressure and no water is wasted from leaky faucets.
Mr. Zagahrahi, was extremely friendly professional, friendly, and  answered all our questioned and explained everything he was doing to fix the problem. He also educated us on how to best care for our plumbing. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THNAK YOU!!!!
I highly recommend George Salet Pluming, and would not hesitate to call them if another problem ever occurred and they were the most affordable and the only ones that gt our problem fixed :)

We have used George Salet for several jobs now and couldn't be happier. Most recently, Alan helped us with a very tricky cross-contamination problem and it finally has been fixed! It was a relief to find someone who is committed to solving a problem and goes through all of the steps to get to the bottom of it. Scott also did a wonderful job installing our gas fireplace. They are on time, knowledgeable and also they are very nice people!

this is the first time I have felt so compelled to post a 2ND yelp review...but I was so very impressed I had to share it on the WWW!  The same tech Ed Watkins came back out to add a hot and cold water line so I could wash my dogs outside w/ warm water.  It was a big job with a complex amount of copper elbows and connections....my handyman said not many plumbers could do something so complicated and in a timely manner.  Ed worked quickly and professionally and I couldn't be happier!

Great job fixing a problem we were having with our tankless water heater.  Before starting work they took us through the likely issues and various price points for different solutions.  Even though the job ended up being a little more complicated than first thought, and took about an hour longer, they only charged us the original estimated price.  I will certainly use them again.

I met George Salet when during a condo conversion project. He and his team were clean, courteous, knowledgeable, trustworthy, prompt, and reasonably priced for the work that they do. We, of course, passed our condo conversion and have been using George Salet plumbing ever since. We recently had a new garbage disposal installed and next week we have a smaller job scheduled. No matter what the job is, whether it's condo conversion or fixing a leaky faucet (which requires a hard to find washers), George and his team treat each job with respect and excellence.

Called George on Thursday night regarding a State water heater that had suddenly died 10 days previous and I had as Sears service (they service state water heaters) come out and try to fix. Initially was told that the heater had a broken blower and that it needed replacement, we did this and it came four days later. However the next sears tech guy told me that I was missing a sensor that would unlock the heater and he suggested that I replace it with a Kenmore. More waiting. Then they came out the next day and tried to replace it with a model that wouldn't even work in my system (power vent) and that I needed to install a chimney, which I freaked out on and said STOP!!  Still no hot water. I called another plumber on the state heater service vendor list and it suggested one I called who then said they had no times to come out until Tuesday (it's Friday) and that I should call George Salet, I called George around 5, and talked to a receptionist who then put George on the phone. I live in Emeryville, which is completely out of there service area. I pleaded with George, since there is only so many cold showers one can take before losing ones mind. He said he would call me in the morning and he would help me.

He called the next morning and said that a tech would be out in the morning. I thanked him. The tech came, Alan, who immediately noticed that the lockout code on the heater hasn't been entered and that, GET THIS!! I had a gas leak too. The idiot sears guys never checked for a gas leak and the heater was shutting off as it should have. Considering everything, if these idiots from sears had managed to turn on the heater through whatever brute force they were trying, they would have burned my house down. Thanks sears, never use them again. They fixed it, I thanks them and we have HOT WATER!!

George didn't have to help here, he could have done what the other 4 state certified plumbers did when I called them, sorry, out of our service area, call so-and-so. He went above and beyond the call and helped us and for that I'm very thankful. I will most definitely recommend him to anyone needing a up and up plumbing company that helps its clients and doesn't attempt to burn down their homes like Sears. Who claimed to know, but never said to me, you know, I don't know this heater, here, call these guys, they will help and I would have respected them and they would have kept a customer and still looked ok.

I was given a work window of 10am-12pm and Steve showed up at 9:50am. The receptionist had already called about 20 minutes prior saying that he was on his way. I was blown away by such courtesy and he hadn't even walked in the door.

Steve was obviously very knowledgeable about his job and within 60 seconds he found the leak and gave me my options for repair. I decided to go with a whole new garbage disposal even though he said that it wasn't necessary. I appreciated his honesty but felt that I was better off in the long run going with a new unit. He even gave me some very helpful tips for taking care of the disposal. He was done within an hour and I was left a very happy camper.

George Salet Plumbing holds themselves to very high standards of customer service. I will be referring them to all my friends with plumbing needs. Steve, you're awesome!

Alan from George Salet Plumbing is AWESOME!!  Incredible workmanship and excellent customer service!!  I would give them 10 stars if I could!  Alan from George Salet Plumbing quickly identified the numerous problems with our buildings tankless water system, took his time to clearly explain everything to us and fixed ALL of our outstanding problems with our tankless system and it cost us a LOT less than other companies gave us bids for.  I was so pleasantly surprised by Alan's vast knowledge of tankless water systems (which your average plumber doesn't possess), his thoroughness in identifying ALL of our systems problems (and the time he took to help us understand those problems), and the very clear plan of attack he created to quickly and cheaply fix our problems- the best part, EVERYTHING HE DID WORKED!!!!  In days, he cured years of problems with our system where other plumbing companies had failed.  We just wish we had found George Salet Plumbing (and Alan) sooner and hadn't wasted thousands of dollars on other plumbing companies who never solved our tankless water heater problems.  George Salet Plumbing will be the ONLY plumbing company we use in the future.

Previous to hiring George Salt Plumbing we had hired two other plumbing companies over the past year.  One of the plumbing companies we brought in prior to hiring George Salet Plumbing just made our problems worse by bad workmanship.  The other plumbing company we brought in prior to hiring George Salet Plumbing said we had to rip out our entire current system and replace it at a cost of approximately $30,000.  Thank goodness we found George Salet Plumbing because Alan VERY quickly identified our ACTUAL problems and fixed the problems promptly for UNDER $2,500!!!  We now have NO problems with our system and have an abundance of hot water for all of our condominium units for a total cost under $2,500.  Needless to say, they are forever our new plumbers!

Just to make things even better, the communication and customer service with George Salet Plumbing is nothing less than excellent.  Both the owner of the company, George, and our tech, Alan probably have, all in all, taken close to two hours of PHONE time with us exploring various options and making sure we understood the problems and fixes.  This doesn't even include the extensive on-site time that Alan took with us so we could fully understand our systems issues and needed fixes.  Also, someone ALWAYS answers the phone- twice, George (the owner) answered the phone and spent extensive time with me consulting!  Other times, I have left a message with the secretary to have our Tech, Alan, call me and Alan calls back really quickly!  Also, after our fix, Alan followed up with TWO phone calls to make sure that everything was working correctly- which it was and still is!!  They are really on top of things from the time you first call them to completion of the job- AND even follow-up after the job is complete!  This level of customer service is a rare find these days!

All in all, George Salet Plumbing are definite keepers!! I am so pleased in every respect with this company.  Simply said, THEY ARE AWESOME!

Needed to get water heater fixed.  Three days of cold showers was enough.  After calling several plumbers and not being able to get a quick appointment, I was referred to Salet.  Originally they only had a spot late in the afternoon.  Well, ok, I need hot water!  About 30 minutes after making the original appt, I received a call that a technician was available now.  Awesome!!!  Steven was there promptly and instantly diagnosed the problem and got to work after giving me an estimate.  Less than an hour later, he was done, cleaned up and out the door!  I would recommend Salet plumbing to anyone!

Salet Plumbing sent Alan Byrne to our home to fix a tub leak. Doesn't sound like much, right? Wrong. Working within an insanely small space, journeymen plumber and all around good guy, Alan Byrne installed new hardware and fixed the leak.

This is the second time in a few years that we've used Salet Plumbing. They ROCK. And especially, Mr. Byrne.

I had a 1 pipe that was rusted to the inside of a 4 vent that went down to the main, which caused serious clogging after about 7-15 loads.  I've been dealing with having to go on the roof at least once a week to unclog the toilets with a spear fishing pole.  Ray and Ricco saved the day!  These guys were determined to get this fixed, and did everything they possibly could to avoid the heavy investment of replacing the pipes from the crawl space; an estimated  $2,000-$3,000 job.  As far as service goes, these guys hooked it up with the works!  Used a hydro jet, video camera, forged some custom tools on the spot, and made sure to thoroughly check from the vent and from of the front of the house to make sure the whole main was clear.  Very thorough work and extremely grateful to have their service.  Steve, who came out for the estimate was great too!  Sometimes companies have someone come out to give an estimate and then when the work is scheduled, someone else comes through that doesn't really live up to the expectations of the estimator.  Well, in this case, it felt seamless. Ray and Ricco knew everything that Steve and I had talked about and were completely filled in and ready to go.  Now, I gotta say, they were a little late . . . that was the only downside, however it didn't matter to me because I already scheduled a few hours for the work, plus they went the extra mile to make sure everything was working properly.  I gotta say, I am very grateful for the work, and they didn't charge an arm and a leg either.  I felt the pricing was very fair, especially with the huge amount of money that was saved by the work they performed.  5 stars, awesome guys!  Worth every damn cent!

We contacted George Salet Plumbing for a small plumbing problem.  Kevin came shortly after and quickly fixed the problem.  He then suggested checking the plumbing throughout the house for possible problems.  We have an older 4 bathroom home and he did find problems. He showed and explained them to us, gave us an estimate without any pressure.  We decided to have the problems fixed.  He began right then, after a quick trip back to the shop.  When done, he again showed and explained what he had fixed.  Excellent service from beginning to end.

Don't use these guys.  i have a Takagi tankless heater that was working intermittently.  Takagi recommended these guys.  The repair person came out, did not even take the cover of the heater off to look at it.  He did nothing to diagnose it, but gave an estimate of $637 for cleaning & maintenance.  He also said that maintenance should be done annually.  I've had it for 8 years without trouble.  I contacted another plumbing company who spent some time looking at the heater, had a testing tool and did the repair for $100!!!  The plumber that I used said he would only charge $250 for the maintenance recommended by these guys, compared to the $444 these guys wanted for the maintenance part of their estimate.

Go Alan Go Alan!  I called these guys out after another plumber gave me an estimate for over $2600 to fix my Takagi industrial water heater that kept having an alarm go off.  Alan spent 10 hours at my house over 2 days and wouldn't give up until he found the problem.  He was prompt, friendly, courteous and really wanted to figure out the issue.  My entire bill for his time, parts, repairs was $1100.  Can't give a strong enough recommendation for Alan.

George Salet plumbing was recommended to help install a gas line so we could install a gas insert fireplace.  They came out in two days to do the estimate and worked with us to get the work quickly scheduled. Alan came out  on the appointed day, and worked like crazy - finishing in exactly the 9 hours he predicted.  He had Neil, his helper with him. They were a pleasure to have around. Very professional, kept us updated on the status of the work, issues they were uncovering with our 100 plus year old house, getting input where needed.  They cleaned up after themselves, and the city inspector signed off in about 5 minutes the next day.  Couldn't ask for a better experience!  Thanks, Alan and George!

I had an amazing experience working with Alan at George Salet Plumbing.  He was prompt, clean, courteous, and funny to boot!  He patiently answered all my questions and didn't complain that he had to come out to my house three times...  So here is my experience with George Salet Plumbing...  

They were brought in by the plumber who installed our Takagi tankless water heater to diagnose some issues we were having.  We were having problems with intermittent hot water.  Alan came out, was on time, and even wore shoe covers to walk through our house to get to the backyard where the water heater is located!  Impressed.  He diagnosed the issue and called the company to get a new part.  Unfortunately the first part they sent was the wrong one for the tough emission standards in SF, so he ordered the new one.  He made sure that they sent this new one overnight and said to call as soon as we got it to make sure that we were scheduled ASAP.  Yvette at the office was able to fit me in right after we received the new part.  Alan came, got the new part in and was extremely thorough in testing that everything was finally working.  We have hot water again!!!  In the midst of turning on and off the water via the valves of our (admittedly shoddily old) bathroom sink, one of the valves pooped out and blocked flow.  Alan was awesome and replaced both that one and the other one for us and switched the hot and cold back to normal (since when we installed the sink, we switched them...)!!!

Awesome service, prompt, and reachable by phone.  Working with them was above and beyond what I expected.  I would highly recommend them.

SAVE YOURSELF FROM THESE SO CALLED PLUMBERS, I had previous problems with a plumber and wanted to make sure I would get a good company. After researching and reading Yelp, checking out the George Salet Plumbing Website, reading they had been in business since 1979, I thought it was the answer..WRONG..
The respone was immediate,plumber was on time, appeared to know what he was doing, asked about the price and he brought out a binder with several sections and prices..all I wanted was a dishwasher installed, he just had to connect the hoses and add a piece, it turned out to be almost $500. They changed the entire pipe under the sink, which had just been installed by another plumber, and then without my knowledge broke a pipe inside the wall by using a snake. The floor in my kitchen was flooded, ruining the laminated wood. The owner George Salet came over to check it out, they tried to blame me because the pipe was old. It was around 6:30 p.m. the owner said he would call his insurance company and get this taken care of.
To make a long story short, he did not get back to me in a timely manner, kept putting it off, telling me to call my insurance company..it went on and on. Finally, their insurance company arrived after many phone calls from me, and decided they would not cover this.
During this whole time I was left out in the cold, my floor was ruined, the owner kept on denying his workers breaking the pipe. I did have to call my own insurance company, and pay the deductible to have my floor replaced, all because of this plumber who broke my pipe. To top things off, I found out this plumber did not have a current license to operate in SSF or Brisbane where his company resides.
I hope this helps another person when they are looking for a reputable plumber because this company is certainly not one of them.

We had to replace our ailing tankless water heater.  George himself, an amiable and knowledgeable fellow, came over to price the job.  It took about two weeks to get on the schedule but when the time came the installer, Scott, worked quickly and left the place cleaner than it had been before the job.  Calls and emails were responded to in a timely manner.

We have a condo in SF.  Our Heat & Glo gas fireplace has not been working since we turned it on after Thanksgiving. That's the only heat source for the family room. We called George Salet and his technician Enok came out to diagnose the problem.  He had to order parts.  The parts came in right after the New Year and I received a call to schedule installation.  Because it was after the New Year and they were busy I was asked if they could come in a week.  I said that was too long to wait and the office staff kindly squeezed me in today.  Once the parts were installed there was still a problem and Enok needed to check the exhaust vent.  George brought over a ladder and Enok was able to clean the vent.  I thought they might want to schedule another time to check the vent but they were very attentive and made sure everything was in working order.  I will use them again and will refer them to my friends.

We worked with Mo and Jose, who were incredibly helpful and always clear about we needed in our original 1941 kitchen. Dishwasher installation went without a hitch. Even better, when our water heater unexpectedly died two days later -- Sunday evening of Memorial Day weekend no less! -- they were back out to help us out. It's great that they guarantee their price quotes, so there are no surprise charges once they've started the work.

Great plumbers.  Our sewer backed up on Christmas - and no, they don't work on Christmas (I couldn't find anyone who did) but they sent Hamzeh out at 9 am the next day, and he was extremely knowledgeable, diagnosed the problem quickly, was very conscientious about making sure the job was done correctly.  It turned out to be a broken sewer line - ouch.  He charged me exactly what he said he would, and a reasonable price even given the circumstances.  George seems like a great guy when I talked to him.  I was VERY impressed with Hamzeh and George Salet Plumbing.

We called George Salet Plumbing to take care of what turned out to be a large clog deep in the plumbing.  They sent Alan, and he did a great job troubleshooting and then fixing the problem for us.  We would definitely call them again if/when we have another plumbing problem.

Be aware of their estimates. Their estimates were more than twice the most expensive estimate i got. Do your homework before you allow them to touch anything. The worst part is their explanation of the charges. Again, DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST.

Our Church was in a real pickle.  We have only two women's restrooms and one of them was found to be broken late on the Saturday prior to Palm Sunday, (a very big day in the Christian tradition.)  I discovered it was a Sloan Flush Master-a very unique flush system that is not carried by  home improvement stores or by most plumbers for that matter.  Checking Sloan's website, I found George Salet Plumbing.  Now remember this is at 5:00 pm on a Saturday.  I called and George answered the phone himself.  He informed me that he had the part but his servicemen were on the way back to the shop.  After explaining the Church thing, he said, Why not just come over to my shop and I will sell you the part directly.  WOW!!  His company missed out on a weekend service call charge and he was willing to bend the rules to sell me the part directly!!!  I went to the shop, met him and three of his servicemen.  What a great team.  They took the time to explain the installation process for my specific part and sent me on my way.  Once returning to the Church, twenty minutes later the women's primary toilet was working again.  This firm is definitely on my short list for outstanding service and a great plumbing team!  They will be called the next time Lakeside Presbyterian Church (San Francisco) or I personally need a plumber!

After two plumber visits and three days of not getting hot water to the house, Steve from George Salet Plumbing saved the day. He was was familiar with tankless water heaters (somewhat of a rarity), and promptly got the unit working. He saved us hundreds of dollars by not completely replacing it. He also referred us to another company to get some additional sheet metal work done. They also did a follow up call to rate their work. It shows that they care about their clients, their employees, and their business! Prompt and skilled professionals are not easy to find. Don't waste time your time and money, call the experts at George Salet Plumbing.

Called about a water heater problem on Sunday, and Scott the serviceman here first thing Monday morning. Whole thing couldn't have gone smoother. Scott was fast, professional, easy to talk with, and even made an extra no-charge visit when he found a part back at headquarters that he didn't think they'd get until the next day. George Salet Plumbing probably isn't the cheapest, but very likely the best.

My drain was stopped up in my house and the bath water was draining out into the shower pan in the other bathroom. I called George Salet Plumbing on Saturday and got an appointment first thing Monday morning. Steve came to my house and assessed the problem quickly. He sat down with me and explained my options. He worked confidently to get my drain cleared and also fixed a toilet. The areas he worked in were left clean. He got the job done quickly and had a very personable and polite manner. I would definitely call George Salet with any other plumbing jobs that come up in my house.

We slowly ran out of hot water and the plumbers of George Salet came out very promptly and replaced the hot water heater.  The job turned out to be very much more complicated than when they started and they ended up having to replace the flue to the roof as well.  They were prompt, professional and did a great job and now I think of them every time I take a shower.  Wait...not like that...I mean I appreciate the hot water!  Thanks!

We have used this company several times in the past, but this was the biggest job yet. Alan came out  assessed the situation, and told us we needed a sewer replacement. Not ever what a homeowner wants to hear, However he said that it would be done start to finish in one week, and it was. Alan and the crew were prompt, polite and neat. When they left it was as if no one had set foot in the garage. I don't think you can get around a steep price for plumbing if you want the job done right. I was very pleased start to finish, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

I am very impressed with the quality service of George Salet plumbing!  Alan, the service manager and plumber who serviced our GE water heater, was clearly highly trained and extremely knowledgeable about these units.  He was also very pleasant to work with.  Long story short, he fixed the problem in one visit that another plumber had failed to fix after three visits.  I thought the service, and how they charge per job, not by the hour, were very fair.  I particularly liked that there was a price booklet that I was shown, so that I didn't feel like the plumber was coming up with numbers off the top of his head.  In the end, it cost us less for George Salet plumbing to fix the problem than for the other plumber to fail at fixing the problem.  There was a little hiccup with scheduling at first, but Mr. Salet took responsibility for the oversight and got someone to us as soon as possible.  You can tell this business is run in the old school way of honesty and caring about the customer.  I highly recommend this company!

We had an emergency and called a plumber we've worked with before. He wasn't available, so he gave us a strong recommendation that we should call George Salet. I'm very glad we did! Our home is built on a downhill slope, so all our pipes drain to a sewage pump under the house, which kicks everything back up the hill to the main sewer lines on our street. The pump stopped working, and we quickly had a full sewage tank and a nasty problem on our hands. Steven C. from Salet showed up on time, he was straightforward and easy to deal with, he assessed the situation, explained our options and the associated costs, then he got to work solving the problem. He could have pushed us towards replacing the pump entirely, but instead, for half the cost, he did the dirty work necessary to extract, unclog and refit our existing pump. His truck was stocked with all the parts & fittings he needed to do the job, so we were back up and running in just a couple hours instead of waiting through the weekend. Honest, hard working and helpful. What more could you ask? Thanks Steve!

I bought a new hot water heater two weeks ago.  There was a problem with it.  The manufacturer sent out the new part and had Salet plumbing come replace the part.  Prior to Salet plumbing's arrival, I could turn the hot water heater on manually, but it didn't come back on by itself like it is supposed to.  Anyway, Salet replaced the bad part and it turns out that wasn't the problem.  So now the part is replaced and it's not working.  That's not Salet's fault.  So, I show the plumber how I can get it started manually.  Based on that, he thinks he knows what the issue is and how to fix it.  30 mins later he says he can't actually fix it and needs the manufacturer to send out a different part.  All still fine... Nothing wrong with Salet at this point.  He then leaves.  I go to start it up manually so my family has hot water tonight.  And, the manual process I was doing no longer works.  One note, this is happening today, a Saturday.  I call Salet and they have an answering service.  I explain what happened and that the plumber left 1 minute ago and can he come back to at least get it back into the state he found it, so I can start it manually.  He puts me on hold and comes back after 5 minutes to say he spoke to the plumber and the plumber said he didn't do anything and it's not his fault.  I asked to be connected to the plumber, which they do.  And, I say, can you please shoot back over here and get it back to me being able to do it manually.  He totally plays dumb and says he didn't touch anything after having explicitly told me he ways going to try and replace the pilot assembly.  I ask him if he could come back to help me and he says no, not until Monday.  He says he'll call me right back, and doesn't of course.  So, I call the answering service again and now he no longer will allow them to connect me, doesn't want to deal with it over the weekend.  I truly am flabbergasted and it takes a lot for me to come on Yelp and write a negative review because I realize it impacts businesses, but this is truly unacceptable to leave me in a worse situation than you found me and not be willing to spend a few more minutes to at least come back and see if you can at least try and put it back to how you found it.  Now, my wife, in-laws and two children under 3 don't have hot water for the next few days.

Called George Salet for help with a Bosch / Aquastar water heater. While they are pretty common these days, its hard to find a plumber that will work on them and knows what they are doing, let alone a good one. Friendly human answering service took message, George Salet called back in the morning and made an appointment for later that day, and finally came and fixed the problem on time, in a very courteous manner for a reasonable price. Good work, well done.

My two and half year old GE water heater was on the fritz. I suspected the defective thermocouple which auto turns off the pilot as a safety device. I wanted to fix myself but these newer closed chamber water heaters are really complicated. I called a few local plumbers but they were hesitant to work on this GE heater. I called George Salet plumbing on the recommendation of GE service line. Scott came out later the same day and had the right part for this particular GE water heater. I was impressed since they got down the model of the heater and brought the correct parts. Scott knew what he was doing and the fix looked rather complicated, I'm glad I did not try it myself. If you have a newer GE water heater with problems go with Scott at this place.

Alan and Kevin came out to diagnose our Takagi tankless water heater after PG&E had reported elevated carbon monoxide levels (200 ppm). Alan was honest and transparent about a range of options, from replacing everything with new equipment to simply cleaning the burner. He also suggested that I contact the manufacturer to see what is the normal level of carbon monoxide. I decided to call the manufacturer and discovered that our water heater is operating completely normally (the manufacturer says up to 400 ppm is normal), and we don't have to do anything. There was no pressure to do the cleaning or the replacement. and although their visit didn't generate any business from me this time, I was impressed by their honesty and integrity. My only constructive criticism is that if they carried a carbon monoxide tester on their truck, then they would be able to test these units themselves, but admittedly our situation is rather unusual and it's probably not something they'd use very often.
