This is THE George Baird drain service you are looking for, not to be confused with other local drain businesses who also call themselves Baird. (Chances are, if you're reading a bad review on this site for George, that person leaving the review may have mistakenly wrote it for the wrong business. From what I learned, George Baird is a one-man operation.)

George walked in, tall, chirpy, and friendly as can be. We offered him something to drink and he politely said he was good.

We called him in because when our toilet flushed, the water would rise through the shower drain. We thought that the toilet would possibly need to be snaked. He continued sharing stories and tips as he turned to the double sinks and turned the hot water on. Next, he goes to the shower and turns the hot water on too. We watch the shower water rise on the shower floor while the sinks were draining properly. We will leave them on for a few minutes, he advised. And then he continued with sharing a story and tips.

As we listened for a few minutes, the water in the shower started to swirl and drain properly. It looks like it cleared itself, he chuckled. My work is done, he announced.

He finished his story and shared a couple more tips and didn't charge us a dime, even after I insisted to pay for his gas and time.

Don't be fooled by the copy cat company. George Baird company I've been using for many years. Always very reasonable and their guys are very respectful not to make a mess.

I have used George Baird drain service time and time again. They are dependable, reasonable and fix my drain clog very efficiently. I always get the same day service when I call as early in the morning as possible. Not a doubt, the most reliable drain service around!

Our kitchen sink had been backed up for a few days. My wife looked for recommendations and pointed us here. She called in the morning and they were able to come late afternoon. It took them about 15 minutes to unclog our sink and it cost $35. Much more affordable than another plumber that quoted us over $120 for 1 hour. This is the right place. Highly legit.

I called to make an appointment for sewer line maintenance. Set the appointment up...no one showed up on the designated day. (I really hate that as I waited at home for nothing.). Called again, they said the service guy apparently was off and they'd call me the next day. Next day, no one called or showed up. I called in again and they said he was still not working. They said they had no one available to do maintenance. Still, no one has called and no one has shown up to do the work. I understand about the holiday but at least know your workers schedules and don't schedule work for them when you know they are going to be out. If something comes up, call your customer and provide a definitive date so they don't waste time waiting around for a technician.

I highly recommend George Baird Drain Service. Same day service and did a great joy of cleaning our drains. Water was backing up into the shower. Thank you. The pricing was very fair. This is the 3rd time we have used them in 28 years.

I've used George Baird Drain Service roughly 4-5 times over the course of 15 years or so.

Yes, sometimes you do have to sort of go by their schedule, which I assume they try and set based on how many other clients are within your area.

However, make some calls for drain cleaning to some other companies, or moreover some of the upsellers on Craigslist, and see if anything even comes close to Baird's awesome prices. At $35.00 per this review for a clogged kitchen sink, good luck.

I've always been very pleased, and I feel fortunate to have this company available to me.

Beware, there is another company using the Baird name, they have an 858 area code number. They are dishonest scammers and need to be avoided!

****Please beaware that there is a company out there that calls them selves Baird drain cleaning service, pretending to be George Baird service. They came out to my house and did a switch and beat with me and try to charge me almost $500 to clear out a main drain. George Baird Drain Service charges $75 for main Drain clear out. The Deceptive company phone number starts with an 858 instead of our Area Code of 619.

Do not let TOM CARLSON STONE enter your home! He could steal from your household! On June 30, 2021 he came to my house to fix the toilet and asked me for a screwdriver. He then left and said he would come another day to finish fixing the toilet once he bought some necessary parts. He never came back despite the many text messages I left him.

Two things happened: (a) He left my toilet making an annoying sound that didn't exist before he touched it. (b) I didn't realize HE STOLE MY SCREWDRIVER! This sounds silly and it is. I tried to be the most polite with him. I kept messaging him very frequently (several times a day some days) telling him I needed the screwdriver, he kept saying he would bring it tomorrow. Do NOT trust him when he says tomorrow because he doesn't mean it. He will never come. HE IS NOT PROFESSIONAL. He never came back to fix either of the bad deeds. It took two weeks (July 13, 2021) until a threat of mine to write a bad review that he Venmo'd me $23.97 for me to purchase another toolbox.

Now, the screwdriver is just a standard cheap one from an Ikea toolbox (see below), but guess what? I have had it for more than 10 years since I was in grad school and it has some emotional value to me. I realized that this guy had gaslighted me making me feel guilty for requesting something that is actually mine. Why should I just lose it now when I've had it for such a long time, it's not his decision to make.

This week I went to Ikea and got a new toolbox, but upon thinking it more carefully, I realized that I wanted my old screwdriver. On Sep 1, 2021 I messaged him saying I wanted it back and that I would return the $23.97 upon him returning the screwdriver. He wrote I still have the screw driver. What's your address. I'll leave it tomorrow. As I knew, that tomorrow was just an empty word from an extremely UNPROFESSIONAL plumber. He did not come. Instead, today (September 2, 2021), he wrote: Hey buddy, this is about a screwdriver. It's safe I promise. This is a little strange to me. I'll leave it.

I am fed up of him, so here's what I reply to him, in Google Reviews: TOM CARLSON STONE: Don't gaslight me into making yourself the victim when you are clearly the thief in this situation. Even if it's just a screwdriver, I want it back, and it's not up to you to decide to take that screwdriver from me.

Please avoid these type of uncomfortable situations and do not hire TOM CARLSON STONE unless you want him to take stuff from your home. He is easily replaceable by someone else.

Super UNPROFESSIONAL. Will NEVER use again. They may only charge $40 to unclog drain but NOT worth the hassle of their guys not showing up, or calling to let you know status. Also their employees don't wear uniforms or have company vans. I ended up calling a professional plumbing service.

I have used Baird Drain service for more than 20 years.They used to be great.I can no longer rely on them to get my drain jobs done.I call first thing in the morning and talk to old Mrs.Baird.She says she will call me back with a time to come unclog the drain.She does not get back to me and then when I call tells me they can't come today.It is now 4:00.I will no longer be giving them my business for my rental properties because they are totally unreliable and disorganized.Sadly,all good things must come to an end.

Me and my family have been using George Baird for over a decade. They are amazing! They have fixed every back-up we have ever had. We live in N. Clmt where the drains are old and have a lot of build up; they get clogged often. Baird is always fast and efficient. They clear the clog every time!

Be sure that you car calling the REAL George Baird drain cleaning service. There is a company in El Cajon that uses the Baird name, but the companies real name is E-Drains. They will tell you it's $35.00... by the time they are done it will be well over $200 and the problem won't be fixed. Then they'll tell you that the pipes are bad and they need to dig up the slab... $6,800.00

Do not pay them. Kick them out of your house. They are scammers!!!

Tried to book services for weeks without a call back from voicemails left and when a person was reached they still didn't call back when they said they would. This week we had an urgent need for services and they still didn't offer a time, called 3 times and was told we would receive a call back, never did. Family has used them for some time, but won't recommend anymore after these difficulties. 2 stars only because they'd been helpful in the past for family, but this was ridiculous.

We hired Baird for a slow draining bathtub and shower.
They scheduled a next day appointment. They arrived on time. They determined they were unable to resolve the trouble with a simple snaking of the drains. They didn't charge for the visit which was very kind of them. They were going to refer the issue to a specialist. We didn't receive a follow up call from them or a specialist. This was okay though as we contacted a plumber who determined there was a greater issue.
Bairds is quick, reasonably priced and efficient.
We would definitely contact them again if we were to experience a drain issue.

This is a top notch drain cleaning service. Fortunately for myself I have only had to use them 2 times but both times were good experiences. The people who are giving one stars because of the receptionist are missing out. She is to the point but I'm sure she deals with a lot of people every day. I was recommended to them by my normal plumber who stopped doing clogged drains as he was to busy but I'm glad he told me about Baird Drain Cleaning.

We were referred to Baird by our regular plumber when he thought we would eventually need hydro jetting. DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE: DO NOT CALL Baird Drain Services 858 - 215- 3910 ... the five stars is for GEORGE BAIRD DRAIN SERVICE and their number is 619-462-8229... if you go with the WRONG BAIRD you will be overcharged , not get anything really fixed and maybe end up with your whole house being flooded due to negligence.. this is not an over enthusiastic post.. even if you have a warranty for the hydro jetting .. stop going with Baird Drain Service and immediately call George Baird Drain Service and save yourself a stressful situation that will not be fixed properly or worse, a lawsuit :(

Never go to anyone else! So trustworthy, reliable, and always puts me at ease. Everyone they send is always honest and helps to try and prevent you from making the same mistakes again. We had an estimate from a (dishonest) plumber for $2400! When we called Baird, they said it should be $50-60 and they ended up at $50. Thank goodness; they saved us so much money! I can begin to say how grateful I am!

Not even a one star here. This is not about the work but about the person answering the phone. She had me waiting all day thinking they would call and schedule and appoint. We had a clogged drain. Not only did i have to call back 3 times but the last time she got upset with me rather than the other way round. i wasted a day with no kitchen sick then had to put up with her attitude. terrible person as a lead point for a business. she told me it was my fault and she didnt appreciate me arguing with her. she said you should have called an hour earlier. dont beg these people to come out call PIC.
they were friendly, professional and out in 40 min. it was worth the big extra $10 :) shame on the person answering calls for the Baird business. To the owner: wake up and realize who is answering your calls.

I just read another review further down in the feed. i had the 858 number maybe i didnt have the real Bairds? wish someone would clear this up. our handyman recommended highly and i think i got the rude scammers ??

This drain company came recommended.. first guy came out we thought was great then next day when we took shower from upstairs it flooded our downstairs tub. Call them and they sent same man he had major attitude left mad and made worse now smelling of sewer. They were sending someone today we have waited until 3 and guy had broken equipment he said he was getting new equipment Monday.. so still tub is still filled with stinky water. They made it worse than before they came. Waisted waiting all Saturday for nothing. Ad says work guarantee.. nope.. now all we have is worse mess.

Terrible customer service. Tone of the secretary is apathetic, bored and condescending. Second time using this place due to our landlords request. First time was ok service, plumber was nice and snaked our drain after we moved in to our new place. Second time, we needed their services yesterday due to an emergency and the plumber never even showed. No call, no show.

I called at around 2:20pm and spoke to Carol, then called a couple times to check on ETA, and didn't get notice from her until 3:40pm about an arrival estimation of between 4:30-6:30pm. My partner left work EARLY to meet the plumber, I had to pick up my kid from practice so I wasn't going to be available, which I told the secretary about. We did what we had to do to accommodate THEIR time. Still no call from the plumber or follow up from the company, and I am posting this review the next day at 10am. The office is closed at 5pm, so there was no office assistance available.

We sought services from a 24/7 company who is professional and acted like they want our business. Find another company to get plumbing help from, they really don't care. (Just within the time to write this review (last night), my partner called another company, got a call back from the technician, got a text confirming our booking and we are next in line for their services from the plumber... there are better services out there! Avoid this place entirely.)

I called Baird Drain but it was the scammers!!!!!

The drain for the sink next to my washer was very slow and they supposedly charge $35.00 to clear a drain. The service person came and told me that a snake wouldn't solve the problem. (It solved the problem for the last 3 years...) He then told me that it would cost $685 for a high pressure hose to clear out the problem. I said I don't have that. He said that he would be charged for the gas. I paid $35.00 for nothing.

Our outside wash basin which serves as the outlet for washing machine, became clogged, and flooded portions of our garage.
I placed a inquiry through Yelp, and received quite a few immediate responses. They all varied in availability and pricing, anywhere from $70- $139 per appointment.
I had initially set up an appointment, which was scheduled for a few days out.
Then I saw a note on the site Next Door about George Baird , being a reliable drain company, that was very reasonable.
Fortunately for me, I placed a call, to George Baird, and they said they could schedule me the next day. They even called me later in the afternoon to confirm our appointment for the following day, and they would call in the AM to confirm a time.
About mid morning the following day , I hadn't heard from them, so I gave a quick call, sure enough, they said they would arrive in the next hour, which they did.
When he arrived, the gentleman accessed the problem, and did a clear out of our main line, which fixed the problem.
The best part was the price $35 to clear the drain, unbeatable!
He mentioned they don't advertise, and most of their business is word of mouth and repeat customers.
He mentioned they are a little old school, which was fine by me.
I don't need a lot of thrills for my service.
Would definitely recommend.
I did cancel my previous appointment through Yelp.

I've used this Plumber before for a slow tub train and have always been pleased how efficient their performance was from beginning to end.
Called and left voicemail's two weeks ago and Carol didn't return any of my calls. Called Saturday at 12:30, and was excited because Carol picked up! Advised Carol of my needs and requested a visit. An appointment would've been okay too.
She took my detailed information and stated she would return my call and didn't. Obviously, they don't want my business nor I want theirs either at this point.
It's rude to treat any paying customer like this. Yes, they're cheap, but id rather pay much more for any Business to act professional and appreciate my business. This world is full of negative Nancy's!

Poor workmanship and they leave your house a mess. I've used George Baird Drain Service for several years. They are cheap and have done an adequate job. Unfortunately, they use a variety of inexperienced wanna-be plumbers. The last visit was the final straw. They were called to clear a bathroom sink drain. The 'plumber' snaked through the adjoining bathroom, not the clogged sink, and left. Not only did he not clear the drain but, the p-trap they had reassembled started leaking. I called them to come back the next day and the 'plumber' messed around with the p-trap and left without correcting either problem. No more George Baird Drain Service for me. I highly recommend you call a more professional company for your drain needs.

Garage sink backed up Saturday. I called and left message (finding out they don't work Sunday). I got a call back Monday at 9am, and had fellow at my house at 11am. Young man asked questions, got on roof, snaked the drain and he made recommendations on possible causes. 20 minutes later he was back in truck with $30 fee he charged. AWESOME!!!!

Called two other plumbing companies both with 30-50- 4+ stars reviews.i even used one of them at my house had success.
This problem came from my girlfriends kids staying at her house for a week/ while moms away. So yep, they flushed wipes down the toilet!!! We've told them hundreds of times / old pipes don't do that!
Well the company I used at my house last year , they did good, but expensive.
They wanted yesterday to hydrojet our system and charge a lot! I told them no thanks.
I was referred to Bairds by two friends so I called them this morning, came out 2-3 hours later / cleaned out on roof! W camera! 75$!!!!Ten minutes
And super friendly service .
As a small business owner, it was refreshing to final for business with a integrity based firm.
I will refer all my friends to Bairds!

This is a local business, family run, which provides excellent service at affordable rates. From my prior experience, they are excellent plumbers and pride themselves on providing an honest service. I highly recommend this company. Each time I begin to search for someone to do a particular job, I feel like the process is the same: engage with some great people, gather a wide range of bids, find some companies that are less upfront with pricing than others. I contacted Baird hoping they could snake my main line out to the city line - a tree root clog last year backed up our plumbing, and I wanted to make sure nothing had grown back.

They responded promptly and sent an awesome tech out. The job was done well, and most importantly, the pricing was transparent and the cost was literally less than half of other quotes I received. I'll be using Baird for any drain issues I have from this point forward.

Baird is great. If I could give them 10 stars I would!!! Fast and very inexpensive. You will not regret calling them and saving their number in your phone in case it ever happens again.

BEWARE of another company POSING as Baird that wanted to charge me more than 10 times what the real Baird charged me. I realized during the visit that they were the wrong company (despite having hats that said Baird on them - the real Baird does not have hats with logos) and I sent them away when they told me how much it would cost. Three hours later the real Board came and quickly fixed the problem.

The correct number is 619-462-8229. Do NOT call the 858 number!!!!

These guys came out and started snaking the drain. They realized they messed up when everything started overflowing and we had to scream at them to stop the process. They scratched the toilet up so bad we need a new one. They said it's the main plumbing line and they aren't professionals!! They tried to sneak out and leave without us knowing. Caught them and said um hey what's going on????...all they said was we owe you a toilet and left....that was 2 hours ago and we have not received a call. And the mess that was left and no compensation.

We had a fairly serious plumbing situation at a house we rent to our son. Drainage was the issue and I had heard great things about George Baird Drain Service so I decided to give them a try. A technician was able to get out there same day and get things moving again. Price was more than reasonable. I will definitely be using them again and can wholeheartedly recommend them.

I had a clog in my bathroom sink so I called a mobile plumber who was able to stop by on the same day. However, the guy was unable to unstick the drain after trying to snake the drain from underneath the sink for about 20 minutes.

He then began suggesting getting a camera into the drain and talking about cutting into the wall to replace piping. This sounded like major $$$. It felt like I was getting worked over so I decided to get a second opinion. My roommate called another mobile plumber who he was familiar with and highly recommended. He came the next morning.

Josh Henderson, an employee of the business stopped by, broke out a snake and had the drain unclogged in 10 minutes from the faucet. I'm pleased with the service George Baird Drain Cleaning Service provided and I highly recommend their service..

We've been using George Baird drain service for years and have always had our garbage disposal clog cleaned out in a timely manner. This time, they sent Michael B and he did not know where our clean outs would be and refused to go on our roof indicating he was nervous about our solar panels (every other time someone came from Baird, they went on the roof). He ended up doing a snake in our sink and told us he fixed the clog. We paid the $35 and tipped him $20 and he left. He cashed the check that day. Later on when we went to do dishes, the worst clog backup occurred and water starting coming up when black soot. And then water came up with black soot in our laundry room sink also! We called that night and left a message. Called again the next day and was told soMeone would call us back. We didn't hear from anyone so had to hire someone else to come in and fix the clog that also now backed up into our laundry room sink, which was never that bad before Michael came to us. $90+ later to the new plumber and we're grateful that the clog is fixed but super dissatisfied with the service Baird provided us this time around. Sadly, we won't be using them again and would not recommend anyone else do so - they don't honor their 24 hour guaranty and they are not bonded so if they were to break something in your home you would be responsible. We were so nervous he broke our pipes by snaking the sink but fortunately he just made the clog worse. Sad this happened!

Wow, I've used these guys in the past, always fast and fair pricing. But this last time I thought I had a major drain problem in the laundry room and after looking at it they said no, it's just methane gas, it will go away -- didn't charge me for some unnecessary pipe cleaning or worse! This place is the real deal!
Do not get fooled by calling a Baird drain service with the phone number starting with 858. George Baird Drain Service is 619-462-8229. I called and a guy came out(sorry I forgot his name) , looked and analyzed everything and took care of a clog. There was no trying to suggest work that does not need to be done. By the way, my father was a plumber and I can do a few things and know enough about plumbing, but as you get older I just decided to give them a call. They have so many good service reviews in NextDoor and my girlfriend was very happy with the work they done at her condo. The guy was very friendly, knowledgeable and honest. He explained everything along the way and did a great job for only $30. I will definitely use them in the future. The key here folks is the business is honest and that is rare these days. $25 to unclog a drain? Can I give more than 5 stars? Mr. Baird is great at what he does and super I informative. This is the kind of business you want to have do your plumbing work. No frills, great pricing and friendly service. They came out quickly after I got a call back saying they were in the area. He made sure we were well informed about how to care for our drains and took the time to talk with us. I don't get the bad reviews on here at all. Maybe the receptionist isn't the friendliest per say but don't let that detract you from using this amazing family run company!

My kitchen sink was clogged. They cam out ON TIME, cleared it out with ease, took care not to leave a mess or damage anything, and the price was as advertized. $35! I'm sad to revise my review so shortly after having given them a great review. The lady who sometimes answers the phone and sometimes calls back left me in a really bad spot with my tenant. I've always had a great experience with the guys who have come out but her bad customer service has forced me have to find someone else for my drain needs. Property managers need to give tenants time frames and be able to update if there's a change, Mr. Baird.

I found a really great guy from one of the reviews below. Anthony Carlson Drain Service called me within 10 minutes after leaving him a voice mail. I'll leave two stars for the guys, but you need a new receptionist /scheduler.

Absolutely the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. They reason they can charge $35/ snake is because nobody would pay them any more than that to deal with them. I called and made an appointment and was told I would get a confirming time the day before service. No call received and no appointment made. I made a second call and this time was sent an invoice which needed pre-payment. I paid and was given a 2 hour window. The plumber called (supposedly) but did not leave me a voicemail or text me. Because I didn't pick up the phone call from a random number, they canceled the appointment. If I wanted to keep service the same day, they said they would come after 7p but charge me $125 for the service. No thanks! I'll find someone who will charge more and happily pay them because I know the job will actually get done.

We have been doing business with this company for years and have always had good quality service but the last time they came it was horrible. Worst experience ever they came out they did not snake the lines they use this hose they put the hose going up the pipe backwards which blew all the junk back up the pipe and clogged it up a day later they never came out for the secondary service call which is supposed to be free our tenants were out of their bathroom and sink and shower for over four days I personally had to go out there and snake it myself it took over two hours to unclog I got feces all over me and now we're trying to get a refund I'm being talked to rudely Hung up on and still have yet to get a refund needless to say they just lost a 30 year customer and be careful the guys they send out are considered a independent Contractor The company will not refund you personally they leave it up to their independent contractors who will just cussed you out on the phone

I am very happy with the service from Baird Drain Service. Rob was able to successfully snake my bathroom sink drain for $30. He's an honest, straight shooter & I would recommend this company for your drain clearing needs.
I found out about this company through the Next Door app for my neighborhood where there were so many positive endorsements for this company and many long-time customers had great things to say.
Scheduling was easy & the home office was in good communication with me about the times they would be able to send out a serviceman.

I heard great things about George Baird, and called the right 619 number. HOWEVER, I won't ever know if he does good work or not because the lady answering the phone appears to be allergic to scheduling appointments. 5 calls toward the number all resulted in I'll call you back. Honestly, I have no idea how Mr. Baird gets any work because his receptionist must have lost him so many customers. Very disappointed. I am going with Anthony Carlson Drain Service, who is much more professional and punctual.

I was a repeat customer, having used Baird Drains to clear my tub and sink several times, but after this last experience, no more. Our kitchen sink was backed up on Monday so I called late afternoon (about 4:30) and left a message. The next day I did not receive a call back, so I called again about 11:00, and it was obvious that they had not even listened to my message so the not so nice woman told me they would call me back. About an hour and a half later she called to tell me they wouldn't make it until the next day. Ugh! I had a kitchen sink backed up with stinky water, dishes to do, and food to cook, but I agreed to wait, mainly because their prices are good.

So the next morning she called to tell me someone would be there between 9:30 and 11:30. My husband was home so I let him know. The next thing I know about 10:00 my husband texted me to let me know he made the guy leave. When I called my husband, he said that the guy showed up groggy and stoned/wasted and stared at the sink for several minutes and asked my husband for a bucket, which he had forgotten to bring. My husband said he was slurring his words and seemed to not know what to do. So my husband kicked him out.

Well the normally rude woman called me a few hours later and said they would send someone else, no apologies when I told her the issue, but seemed like she'd heard this complaint before. My husband said no way, we could find another company.

Before, I tolerated the rudeness of the woman because at least they seemed to be prompt and efficient, but it's not worth the money anymore. Their service has gone down hill. We contacted Anthony Carlson Drain Service (found here on Yelp) and he came out within an hour, cleared our drain for a great price, and even offered my not-so-handy husband some tips to do it ourselves if we wanted.

Don't waste your time on Baird, the price isn't worth the poor service.

Had a plumbing issue, where the bathtub filled up with dirty, soapy water from the washing machine - and the toilet wouldn't drain. I was freaking out. My landlord called George Baird, they had somebody here within hours. The plumber's name was Tom Stone. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and quickly fixed the problem. He even let me see the video feed of the camera he sent down the drain pipe, to show me what the issue was.

Have used Baird for over a decade on various rental properties in OB. My maintenance person had them over last week for a $75 drain snaking. They cleared the clog and, as usual, offered a 30 day guarantee.

The next day the same drain clogged. The maintenance guy tried to get ahold of them at least five times. He left a couple of messages. He finally got someone else and got it fixed.

It is now 5 days later and still no call back, apology or offer to partially refund the $75. They have lost my business and that of all the other apartment owners my maintenance person works for.

I have used the REAL Baird Drain Service for years. There is a FAKE Baird s ervice who are unreliable and nasty overcharging folks. Be sure you get the right Baird service as they only do drain services and are usually about $30. The lady who answers the phone and coordinates the plumbers seems miserable. Her customer service skills are awful! The only reason this review is not one star is because the plumber, when we were finally able to meet, did a great job! But all of the time and frustration involved in coordinating the appointment means I will definitely go elsewhere in the future. The time the plumber was projected to show up on the first, and second attempt, we're both missed, and there was no phone call to let us know. My wife and I were stuck in the house waiting around. When we called in to inquire, we were told the plumber was running very late and probably would not make it. There was no apology, sorry for the inconvenience, etc. She actually sounded annoyed that we were calling to ask her about this, as if it was a problem we created and for some reason dragged her into!

I've been eager to enter a review since Baird's came out to my place to clear a kitchen drain clog. $30 out the door!! Came the next day! Will use them for any and every clogged drain I have. There was some confusion about whether I'd called the correct Baird's plumbing. My friend gave me the referral, but it was indeed the correct Baird's and I've finally found the right place to recommend them! Couldn't have been more efficient!!!

I've been using George Baird's drain service for more than 20 years. They always arrive when scheduled and have always been able to fix the problem drain. I recently had to call them and didn't have their number with me. I found a Baird Drain Service, saw that it was a La Mesa address - same as George Baird's, and scheduled a drain cleaning. 2 days later my drain backed up again, and I discovered that the Baird Drain Service I called was NOT George Baird's company. Instead, some company named E-Drains is doing business as Baird Drain Service, no doubt fooling many other customers as well. Be careful when you schedule and make sure that you've reached the real George Baird Drain Service. They are great folks, and don't deserve to have had their good name taken by this other (really horrible) outfit.

PLUMBING PROBLEM RESOLVED BY GEORGE BAIRD DRAIN CLEANING SERVICE. WOW! What a difference a day makes.

YESTERDAY someone came out to fix a clogged drain. The rate started at $67. then jumped to $475. and then by the time they were finished they said I needed a new pipe and they would give me a great deal. They marked the price down from $15,000 to $6,875. That was the Veteran deal. Obviously, I said NO THANK YOU!

TODAY, The truly wonderful George Baird Drain Cleaning Service came out and cleared my drain for less than $100. In less than an hour he went on the roof, cleared the drains and stayed around long enough to make sure they were all working correctly. After going a couple of days without plumbing, I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to have everything back up and running. It was a wonderful experience to have an honest and knowledgeable person here to help. If I am ever in need, he is our first call. He did say that someone is on the web as a George Baird imposter so I am posting his card and number. If you want an honest person and not a scam artist, call him. You will not be disappointed - 1.619.462-8229.

I had a clogged drain that I could not clear regardless of many different things I tried. George Baird Drain Service charges $35 for all drains. They showed up quickly and did a fantastic job in 5 minutes. Phone 619-462-8229.

Beware of Baird Drain Service who claims to charge $35 to clear a drain. I've called twice and they have excuses That's not a normal drain or That special expired. They wanted me to pay $225 to snake it or $480 to jet blast it with a warranty. They are far to expensive, and parlaying the Baird name to steal business in La Mesa.

We have used Baird quite a few times in the past, even though the lady who answers the phone is very unfriendly and kind of rude. For the most part, they were always able to clear out our drains. The most common drain that plugs up is the kitchen sink and there is a flush out drain on the outside of the house where the kitchen sink is located on the inside. I don't know why they never used that flush out and always insisted on going in through the roof. After one of the times they came, we got a huge leak under the house and we are pretty sure it was because of them although they informed me they are not responsible for pipe breakage. Don't think we will be using them again. Price is cheap, but you get what you pay for. We called a different company the last time the kitchen sink got clogged up and although they were $40 more, they used the flush out which made so much more sense.

CUSTOMER BEWARE. I have used Baird before and they were fine but this time was a TOTAL DISASTER. I guess I should have read the reviews on their bad customer service before I called. I called the service a week or so ago to get someone out to clear my kitchen drain. The day I called, the lady said they were all booked up and I need to call between 6-8 AM. So, a couple of days later I called starting at 7 AM and got the voicemail. Called 3-4 more times before 8 AM and got the same. Left my name and number but they never called back.
Last Friday, I called again and she said they could get out to my house in the morning. I had to leave at 10 AM so I told her that if they weren't going to be here by 10 AM, could we do it after 1 PM? She said they would call first before they come. At 10 AM, they hadn't called so I left and got home about 12:45 PM. They hadn't called so I figured they would be out sometime in the afternoon. By 3:30 PM, they still hadn't called. So I called and the lady said I was the one after 1 PM and she still had it on the books and when they had a plumber available, they would send him out. No call by 4, no call by 5. At 5:15, I called and got the voicemail. What a waste of four hours of my time.
I'm getting ready to go to dinner at 5:45 PM and the phone rings. It is the plumber from Baird Drain, and he is 20 minutes away. So, I wait for him and he shows up shortly after 6 PM. I show him the sink and the cleanout and he looks at it, stares at the roof, and says it is going to be $77. I calmly said no, it's supposed to be $35 and he insists it is $77, maybe he could do the toilet for $35, but the kitchen drain is $77. I feel like I've been baited and switched, so I told him no, he could leave.
I call Baird the next day and the lady says that because he came after 5 PM, it is after hours and the cost is $77. So, whose fault is it that he comes after hours? I told her when I made the appointment, I assumed they would come during the day, by 3 or 4 PM, and if they can't come by 5, they should at least call and let me know. And, before the guy comes out at 6, he should let me know it is going to be an extra charge. She said if they can't get out that day, they will schedule me for the next day, but I need to specify that I don't want someone after 5 PM. I didn't know that is a requirement. If I call at 7 AM for an appointment, I would think it would be for sometime during the day. Furthermore, she said I should have paid a $35 service charge for having the guy come but not using his service.
I assume they do a nice job clearing drains once they get to the house, but their customer service is the WORST. The plumber went back and told them I said I could get it done for $15. What a liar. I never said that, just said the charge should be $35, and I shouldn't have to wait 5 hours for someone to show up.
I guess that's what you get for $35. You get what you pay for. And, they take no responsibility for the problem at their end. Sad, because I have used them for years, when it was just George and then his son. I guess they have now gone bigtime. I can't get someone else to do it for $35, but whoever I get will show up at a reasonable time and the service people will be far more professional and customer-oriented than this company. The end.

Great, super reasonable, drain service. I used George twice, and another employee once. Only issue I had for the last one was the inability to get a good time estimate of service, so I waited around a while.

Our forty-year-old house has the usual sorts of plumbing-related problems: inaccessible valves and drains; loose fittings; and, more frequently, pipes that become blocked by calcium deposits or worse, roots that intrude from nearby trees.

We've suffered this last problem twice, and both times, we were very pleased with work performed by Baird's Drain Cleaning.

From the genial and empathetic treatment we received from the very knowledgeable Carol, who took our call and scheduled our work, to the quick, professional and friendly help we received (most recently from Kevin), turning to Baird's Drain Cleaning has proved, if not a happy experience, then at least a pleasant and valuable one.

Recently, a large, established plumbing company in San Diego quoted me $1,000 to replace a toilet, the sort of gouging I expect from people in the profession.

When I have occasion to call Baird's, experience assures me that I'll get value for money spent, and I believe you will, too.

Make sure you know who they are sending to your home. They subcontracted someone out who was supposed to do an easy fix, they broke the toilet in the process, collected the $200 fee from my tenant (which I provided) then told us after they would come back in a Day or two to fix what they broke. After a month of trying to track them down to fix the toilet I finally asked for a refund. Here we are weeks later and I've still been unable to get my money back. It's always an excuse and the women who takes all the incoming calls couldn't care less. She has me tracking down their subcontractor for the refund. It's absolutely ridiculous that it's been close to two months with no resolve. It's a shame because they have done good work for us in the past with snaking drains. I now question their ability to send trustworthy people into my home. I believe I was robbed of $200.

I was recommended to this business for a laundry room drain service.

As confirmed by the many other reviews on here, the lady on the phone is extremely rude, condescending, and not helpful. She spoke to me like I was an idiot for not understanding what she was asking me to do and like I was wasting her time, couldn't make it more obvious that she was trying to get me off the phone. She also made it sound like if my property didn't have a certain hose connected to the laundry room they couldn't come because it would take too long.

Despite the fact that the prices, timing, and service sound great, they just lost my apt buildings business because of how I was just spoken to. Owner of the company may want to consider training this woman on basic customer service and how to speak to a human being in general! And if she is the owner, she should consider retiring!!
We live in a transparent world now and this BS doesn't fly anymore. I ran a search for drain cleaners on Yelp and we customers have MANY other options. Best of luck with that attitude CAROL

My neighbor gave me their number when we moved into this cute but old-boweled house. Baird's has always come to the rescue win less than 24 hrs. Michael has been out a few times, always professional and helpful. Neil and also an older gentleman have been great too. They are reasonable, hard-working people and they guarantee their work for 30 days.
Michael even cleaned the small mess from the job. I highly recommend calling them for slow or clogged drains and toilets over anyone else who would gouge you.

I've used these guys a few times a long time ago, always with good results. They were always fast and efficient.
Today I get a text from my mother in law's housekeeper that the toilet is clogged and she couldn't plunge it.
So I call Baird, knowing that I don't want to try and tackle something like this.
They get to the house before I do, checking the main drain, I arrive and walk them in to the bathroom, and George proceeds to do his thing.
Turns out that all it needed was a good powerful plunge, no snake or additional work required.

Long story short, George highly recommends getting rid of the Kirkland toilet paper and change to Marathon toilet paper, a thinner and more soluble
product that breaks down much easier and won't clog.

Then came the great news!
NO CHARGE!!
He was just down the street and George said: we don't charge to plunge!!

Never again. Have used before, happy with the work and price reasonable (inline with others, in my experience). Called today with drain issue, one that they had addressed a couple of years ago. That job took 40 min from arrival to departure (included cleaning-up, writing check, everything!). Today, after call to office, they wanted $225 for same. No, and paid the $45 for house call (no issue there, time was used). Bill Howe (who is thought of as expensive) - $145.

Could not have been more rude.

Just called to inquire about getting a simple drain cleared. Lady answered the phone, asked me what my issue was, and literally mid-sentence said hold on a minute and placed me on hold. Came back on about 30 seconds later and asked what my address was (I have not even finished talking about my issue). I gave her her the address, she asked if i t was an apartment or home. I said it's a condo building. Her literal response (this happened 2 minutes ago): He's not set-up to do the condos. CLICK.

I tried to use Baird drain service because they came highly recommended.

But the receptionist seemed to be auditioning for Vampira. She interrupted me almost every time I tried to say something, and gave me only short, rude answers when I did manage to ask a question. but nevertheless I set up a repair and she said she would call me the next morning with the time that the repair person would arrive. Then she hung up.

I never got the call. By afternoon I decided I'd better give them a call. V. Did not apologize for failing to call me; she said the person that she had recommended wasn't available anyway. At that point I simply went looking for some other drain service.

I have heard that this woman has been answering the phone for years. It would be interesting to know how many thousands of dollars in business she has lost for Baird drain service.

This is the only business who has ever come in my home to fix something and not charged over $100!!!

It costs about $30 to fix a simple clog - this is cheaper, less toxic, and more effective than a couple bottles of liquid plumber.

After getting a recommendation from Duane Moore, I called at 1:15 and spoke with Carol. At 2:00, George showed-up to snake the drain from the house to the street. At 2:30, drain back to working order with no problems. Easy, quick and good quality of workmanship. Another positive note, inexpensive too for a Saturday job! $40

What an Awesome company! We had a slow kitchen drain and called Baird, super friendly employee and he gave us very helpful tips for keeping our drains clear. The price was excellent and Josh (I think that was his name), cleaned up the area really well. I've tried Anderson plumbing a few times and their prices were ridiculous and the employees don't clean the area up after they're done.

If you have drain problems, call Baird, you will be very happy!

George Baird is awesome, down to earth, knows his stuff and is reasonably priced. I was referred to him by Flow Right and they couldn't be more Right. George was able to snake my sewer drain line the better part of 100ft. Found roots at multiple points and chopped them out. His prices are so reasonable, I could call him out twice a year for the rest of my life and not pay a tenth of what another company quoted to replace my whole drain line. Nice to meet an honest business who isn't looking to rip you off. If you're drains line is clogged call this guy!!! Yearly drain maintenance seems a lot more reasonable than emergency replacement.

I used Baird Drain Service in the past but will not recommend them to anyone. My last drain cleaning was not completed the first round and I called the technician (Tom) who said he would handle the second cleaning and would install a cleanout in the yard. He promised on several occasions to do the work but failed to perform even though I repeatedly told him I needed the job completed because the house was in escrow and we were moving because the closing date was a week away.
Long story short (Tom) eventually completed the work the day before closing and was paid in full because I was no longer in San Diego so I was unable to identify someone else to do the work.
I called Tom and Baird and expressed my disappointment and informed them I felt like I deserved some relief for all the missed appointments, rudeness and threatening remarks Tom made. Baird informed me that it uses subcontractors to perform the work. Tom asked if $300 would be a reasonable amount to compensate me for the trouble he cause. I told him that would be a good start. This conversation and agreement was decided over two weeks ago and Tom being up to form has yet to close the deal.

We have used Baird's before and had a great experience however this time we were told they could come out but would call late morning to give us an estimated time. They never called. I called several times and left messages. We waited around the house all day with a clogged kitchen drain and they never called, never showed up or returned my calls. If they couldn't get to us that day they (after telling g us they could) then we at least deserved a call so we could have scheduled someone else and not waste a day waiting at the house without our kitchen sink.

We've been a customer for years and our only complaint has been the rude woman who answers the phone...Carol. However, after this last issue we will not call them back. First, we were given a time frame between 3 & 5 pm. Since this is a rental, time frame is important. At 4:56 Carol called to tell us the worker would be there at 5:30, my husband agreed. He tried to move his scheduled appointment (he has a job himself) but was not able to change the time. He called Carol back at 4:48....no answer, so he left a message. Carol called him back about 30 minutes later and she was so angry that we were not able to meet the worker. When my husband told her that he tried to call her back within two minutes, she hung up on him. Two days later, she called to try and re-schedule. Never going to happen.

George and his son are so nice. They have referred another plumber to us to do bigger jobs, and he was also very nice. Baird Drain Service is losing their good reputation because of horrible customer service. Carol needs to find another job, she obviously hates her job and resents having to speak to anyone on the phone.

Could not of had a better experience. Had a main line back up but it hadn't happened in a long while so we didn't know who to call.
I found these guys on yelp.
Talked to Carol, she was great, and she assured me they'd have a guy out between 3 and 5p. Carol called me at 2:54 and said Neil was on his way.
Neil was very pleasant and got straight to business. $50 later and a quick lesson on how to tie up an extension cord like an air-force pro and the water was flowing smoothly.

Buyer beware. I got the quote when the worker showed up on site -- to clear a drain from the house to the main sewer line would cost $485 and include a year guarantee. We agreed. After 5 minutes of work (we happened to time it because our 3 year old started watching a movie when he started the work), the man stopped and said job could not be done. We asked what we owed him and he said we had to pay full price. When we balked, he called management and came back and said $85 less, so only $400. When I called management, they said the discount was up to him (see - each was saying it was up to the other to offer a lower price.) On the phone with management, I explained the job wasn't done, that we didn't need the value or cost of a year's warranty, that even if we paid for his time on site and his drive time, it would be a much lower charge than $400. THE KICKER -- the woman said they always get paid because they put mechanical liens on customer's homes. I feel like I was mugged in my own home. What a horrible experience and a total shock.

The only mistake I made, was not hiring this company sooner! They did such an amazing job for a fraction of what the other three companies (who could not fix our issue but charged us anyway) charged us. They arrived within a few hours of calling them and were professional and polite.

What great service!! Woman on the phone wasn't rude, she's just short and to the point. Any posts about her being rude are probably from self absorbed ego maniacs that like to be hand held crossing the street.
I had to leave a message on a machine but called in again and got a woman on the phone. She took my information, asked what was going on, and told me what their prices were. She was to the point, asked the right questions, and said she'd call me back when the guys responded with an ETA. I was working and told her I could be back home in 15 minutes.

Twenty minutes later, I get her call and she said they were on their way so off I went! I got home before Travis and Neil (I think that was their names, the whole thing went so fast I could have remembered wrong) arrived, they showed up a few minutes later and asked what was going on. The guys were chill, non threatening, but best of all knew their shit. I showed them what we had tried to do the night before and what we used to snake out the pipes ourselves and they went at it. I went in to find them soda's but all we had chilled was La Croix (which they kindly declined) and came back out. They were already done.

Flushing the pipes with hose water and explained to me what had probably happened. I couldn't ask for better service and at such a reasonable price. I gave them a ten dollar tip and off they went and back to work I went.

What more could you ask for?! Plumber we contacted last night wanted four times more for emergency services and three times more to come in the morning. He woulda done exactly the same thing. Don't get dupped to paying higher prices for a decaled van, Dickie pant, and a button up shirt with their name embroidered on it. These guys know what they're doing and offer a great service.

Do yourself a favor and call Baird's Drain Cleaning. Have the guys come out and do it fast, do it easy, and do it done at a fair price.

I called Baird's and left a message yesterday expecting a callback today. Tried calling other plumbers yesterday also with no availability or pay through the roof. Seemed a busy weekend (maybe due to the holiday not everyone was operating). I decided we could survive until today. I did receive a call back before 8 am this morning acknowledging my message and to see if I still needed service, confirmed yes and I would get a call back with the schedule. I know it is a holiday weekend and didn't expect to get rush service. I appreciate that they had people working today. Neil came by checked where to clear the main drain did his magic. He saved the day! I am so pleased. I and other members of my family have used Baird's in the past and they've always come through. Price is reasonable. How did you spend your New Years Eve? Lol

I understand that this company has been around forever. I also understand it's family owned, which is my favorite thing to support. HOWEVER they are so unorganized it's frightening. You can't schedule anything a head of time. The receptionist really has no idea what she's doing so she can't answer any questions. Constantly puts you on hold and her tone of voice on the phone is abysmally rude.

When the plumber finally did show up. He was brisk, rude, too much in a hurry. He didn't let me move anything around in the bathroom and even unplugged my wax burner getting wax all over my counter. He then charged me $30- which was $5 higher than what i was told on the phone.

One thing that's redeeming is he got the job done quickly.

The nail in the coffin is he then tried to hustle my other neighbors in my complex to pay him when he didn't even enter their apartment.

I sincerely hope to NEVER have to use this service again. Total nightmare.

I can no longer recommend Bairds. The frustration is not worth the usually inexpensive price. After letting the office know that I would like the line cleared from outside (due to Covid and an immune compromised family member) the plumber wouldn't even try. We called the office back and she assured me that a different plumber would come out and run the line from the roof and that they would honor the $35 price. Unfortunately, he got here and would not do what the office assured me he would. He tried to up sell me (bait and switch perhaps?) to jetting that cost over $400. I would only try them if you have a lot of time and multiple bathrooms so that it doesn't matter as much if they don't do what they say they will. Unfortunately for me, I only have one bathtub which is still clogged.

Bairds is by far the most well priced drain cleaning service. By far. I have been using them for years for my rental property and recently called them when my tub drain was backed up at my residence.

Bairds gets the job done for cheap every time. The only downside is they don't tell you when they are going to come until the day of. Tenants usually aren't crazy about that but oh well. They should be happy that I pay their drain cleaning bill.

Also other reviewers have mentioned that the woman who answers the phone was curt. I understand their point of view but If you think about it, she probably does not have time or want to hear your story and I don't blame her. When your busy, you don't have time for chit chat.

Bottom line is Bairds is the best place to call when you have a clogged drain and you don't want to pay an arm and a leg.

Could not be more pleased! Had a lateral blockage between two back-to-back bathrooms and the septic tank, but unclear if under house or outside house. Got $50.00 quote for ground level rodding through a clean out (e.g. extra charge for roof access via vent). Jess got on site, reviewed options. I selected $120.00 camera examination rather than just blind rodding. Cost of rodding was included if roots are found. They were found and cut out for now, and we know exactly where a joint is failing and allowing tendrils into the pipe. Response time was very quick to east of La Mesa. Recommend without reservation based on one waste line blockage.

Our two toilets stopped up and water/sewage backed up in both showers. I called George Baird Drain Cleaning Service and spoke to George's wife Carol. She contacted him and George came over and fixed the toilet drains and the shower drains.
Fast, expert and AFFORDABLE! He typically charges sixty if he has to go up on the roof - less if he doesn't.
George's number is 619 462 8229. Be sure to use that phone number - there are impersonators out there so recommend you make sure you know who you're calling. George warranties his work for three months. I'd call him again in a heartbeat. He solved our problems same day and it's not even noon!

1st attempt to call to get my kitchen sink drained I was told they would call me back the next day with a time they could come, Never heard from them. So I called back the next day just to be told the same thing. Long story short I've been trying to get them to come drain my sink for 4 days now. And just when I was finally told someone was on the way, it changed to being delayed another 3 hours after I had already put running errands on hold to Wait for the guy. Not sure how you go from on the way to all the sudden delayed. I get the idea someone is writing the appointment on a piece of paper and just throwing it away.

Baird drain - NOT RECOMMENDED! I know this business comes recommended by some folks on Nextdoor - mainly for their $35 any drain cleanout service.

HINT: That's not what they offer, at least not in our recent experiences.

I don't know if the company has changed but, based on our recent experience, I would absolutely NOT recommend this company to our neighbors.

They were not upfront, late twice, unprofessional and looking to up-sell us on a simple drain cleanout before even looking at the problem.

I'd rather pay 2-3x the price for an honest drain service that isn't looking for the cheap up-sell and that treats their customers with more integrity.

I have used George Baird's Drain cleaning for my rentals and personal residence on numerous occasions and for many years. They have always done a fantastic job for me. They show up on time, are priced competitively and are very reliable. They only clean out drains so don't expect them to make any repairs. If you have a broken pipe and they can't clean it out expect to still pay them. They still came out and they should be paid. If you need repairs call plumbers for that. Baird's pricing is fantastic if you are shopping around. I agree with the reviews about the front office, the gal is very busy and cannot take time for small talk. They are a great company to call to clean out the drains. They are a cash basis company and they have my recommendation and I will continue as long as they remain in business.

They're the best! My landlord recommended them to us whenever we had to get our super old pipes snaked.

They are efficient at scheduling and prompt in arrival. AND THEY ARE SO FAST. They can get a drain from 100% clogged to 100% clear in a snap (I suppose depending on the problem. We have only needed snaking).

Also, I think we paid $30 each time which is a steal. The people are nice and professional and have a good sense of humor. AND we saw no plumber's crack, always a plus.

We had another company out to look at a shower and sink that were clogged. Two guys showed up. Not long after they were here they said the task was above their pay grade and called their boss. Boss shows up with another guy and the 4 of them sent camera into the sewer line. They then said the sewer line was shot and offered to do the job for only $13,000. Ahhhh yah...

Called Baird the next day after a recommendation from a retired plumber friend. Two guys showed up, cleared the lines in a few min and laughed when I told them the story of the previous mechanics. If your sewer line is ruined your whole house will be impacted, not just a couple drains. It will be an ongoing situation.

These guys are knowledgeable, reasonable and HONEST.

Avoid the scammers. CALL BAIRD.

I was tired of paying a lot of money for a plumber to come out just to snake the drain. I have used this company before as a renter in an apartment to clear a blocked sink. Now we own a home and had a blocked main line at the bottom of our driveway that connects to the city sewer.

I called in the morning and they were able to schedule an appointment for the same day. Jess and George both came out, saw the problem and had it fixed within a matter of minutes. After the line was clear, they flushed the toilets and ran water for awhile to make sure the problem was solved. After they were done, the took the time to give me some additional information on how the house is piped and some tips/tricks for prevention in the future.

The price was the exact amount that I was quoted over the phone and the service was excellent. Jess and George were friendly, knowledgable and let me know exactly what they were doing each step of the way. I will absolutely call them in the future!

They were about half the price of everyone else, were able to come out quickly and arrived right on time. The ofice person answered and we got disconected, I called back and she told me she would call me back. I have up. If I can't get on the schedule in 2.5 hours, somethings wrong. Unfortunately, our plumber is temp. closed until July and Baird was referred by our neighbor. I don't know what is going on with them but when your sewer is backed up, you can't wait all day for an answer!

Two days ago I called Baird to unclog a lab sink at our office. The receptionist was one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to. She was not only rude, but she was argumentative and down right nasty. The technician came out but could not unclog the sink and said he would return the following day. He never did return. They had given us a price of $185 which I thought was extremely high but since we wanted the sink unclogged, we went with it. I used this company several times before and was very pleased, but they are now a rude, nasty, bend your arm, type of company. Maybe a new owner/manager has taken over so my advise is to run and duck-for-cover. They are one of the worst.

Let me just tell you that I have never had to call a plumber for anything. But I am so glad I called this company when I was in a pickle. I had called on Thursday to see if there was any appointments and the lady answering the phone had informed me that they could come out on Friday so on Friday they called again to schedule an appointment and they told me anytime between 10 AM and 12 PM. They came promptly at 10:00 AM and finished with in 10 minutes to unclog my kitchen and bathroom sink. Travis was so nice so quick and efficient and it was only $30 to unclog both sinks. I will definitely be calling this company againIf I ever need assistance.

Has been our family drain service one stop shop for years. Extremely friendly, professional and prompt in solving any drain issues. They even guarantee their work for a period of 30 days. They have service during normal business hours Monday thru Friday, but also offer service on Saturday if you work a full time job, like myself. Unlike most service oriented companies, they don't have you sitting at home waiting for them for long periods of time. They have always called me to a confirm a time prior to showing up. I appreciate both their professionalism, quality of work and inter-personal communication skills. Highly recommend to anyone who is concerned about not wanting to get ripped off!

After reading the reviews on the dispatcher, I have to say I have NEVER encountered any issues with Carol. Is she straight to the point and all business? Yes! But people please understand you are calling for drain service not contacting the girl scouts of America - take it easy on the woman. She is knowledgeable, business minded and efficient is what I would call her. If you want to feel warm and fuzzy watch lifetime and drink some hot cocoa.

Sewage backed up into 2 bathtubs and 1 toilet. This had never happened before in my 28 years at this North Park older home. My regular plumber diagnosed the problem, but he no longer goes up on roofs. He heartily recommended Baird as reasonable, expert, dependable and fast. Boy! was he right on all counts.
Carol gave me a same-day appointment and Louie was here on time.
He cleared the line completely and said the pipe was in good shape
with no invasion of tree roots. It would have been easy to inflate the

Who is this mean lady on the phone? I understand this might be a family business but my goodness Mom needs to stay at home. She either absolutely hates her life or her job. Maybe both. The guy who actually came and worked our appointment was really pleasant. I mentioned to him that the lady over the phone hung up on me when I called to check on my appointment time and he said yeah we get complaints about her being rude all the time Seriously? I unfortunately wasted my time trying to use the plumber's book of home remedies (eg., baking soda and vinegar; auger; bleach; taping up other connected drains and plunging) with no success - in fact it was much worse.

At Walmart I was advised to give Baird's a call, and I am so happy that I did. Within 2 hours the problem was solved, and at a reasonable price with a guarantee.

We live in an old home with old pipes that needs drain cleaning about 3-4 times a year. We have used Baird and been completely satisfied. They give you a window when they will show up and they have always shown up in that window. The price can't be beat!

Our landlord even used them to un-clog her sewer drain down at the street that was clogged from tree branches for a very reasonable price, about half of what other services wanted to charge.

We've been using Baird for almost twenty years without any complaints aside from the rude receptionist and chronic tardy ness, but they always showed up and did a good job until last week.

After getting my elderly aunt home after a few weeks in the hospital we found her drains were clogged in her home. We called Baird on Friday, explained the situation, but they couldn't get out until Saturday and they would call to set a time. No call by mid morning so I called and gave all the info again to the rude woman and was told they would be out between 4 and 6pm. Nobody showed up or called. I called but only got the machine and left a few messages. Per their message they are closed on Sunday. I received a frantic call from my aunt on Sunday at 2:30pm that they had just arrived To fix the drains. I dropped everything and raced down there to find out his (Travis) truck broke down the day before and that they called me to cancel. I showed him the call log on my phone and asked him to show me the call - nobody called... they ran a camera and said they found the problem but would need to come back Monday between 4-5 pm with the right equipment (water jet). I'm typing this at 7:23pm on Monday. nobody showed up again and of course it's just the machine when we called their number earlier. This is unacceptable under any circumstance. I'll never use them again and advise everyone I speak to to avoid them at all costs.

Do yourself a favor if you value your time and don't call this company. On the other hand if you enjoy sitting around for days after days with nobody arriving - knock yourself out!

I've used them numerous times, and never had them flake.

They don't come when it's convenient for you. You can pay someone real money for that, not 20 bucks. They come when their guy is in the neighborhood. If you can't be there, call someone who charges more for the convenience of working with your schedule.

The lady who answers the phone is abrupt. She's not actually rude, she just doesn't waste any words, doesn't want to hear your story, and isn't going to mess around with explaining why they're going to tell you when they'll be there, and not the other way around. She will call you back, always, it just might not be fast enough for your taste. It's $20 and guaranteed for 30 days, people. You don't need someone to sympathize with your babysitter problems and work around them for you. If you do, call someone who charges more for that convenience.

As for their service itself, they've always gotten the job done. Always. And when it was a tough job the dude hung out and tried the best he could to make it work.

Only reason I don't give the 5 stars is because I really don't care for one of the guys that they send out. But hey, he's in my house for 10 minutes, and it's TWENTY FREAKING DOLLARS so I just make sure not to start a conversation.

Come on people. You can't have it both ways. You either pay basically NOTHING and maybe sacrifice some of your precious time and deal with the misery of not having someone laugh at your jokes, or pay the going rate for a more professional service who have a bazillion technicians whose shorts aren't falling off their butts and enough coverage to make sure each precious snowflake is accommodated.

So from the reviews it seems like it's really hit or miss with this place. Luckily for us it was a hit! I called a different plumbing service this morning who came out and couldn't solve the issue but recommended Baird's. So I called this morning at 9 am for a clogged tub drain. The receptionist said she would check the schedule and get back to me. Less than 20 minutes later she called back and said they could be here between 10 and 12. Michael showed up just after 10. Super professional and friendly. Overall great. Snaked the drain in a matter of minutes. Charged $30. Which I thought was super cheap. Overall very happy with their service and will definitely use again in the future! Note-it was cash or check only. Just a heads up for anyone else who is like me and hardly ever carries cash anymore.

STAY FAR AWAY from Baird's. This is the most unorganized, unprofessional company with some of the rudest customer service I've ever experienced.

I received a call at 8:15 am from the scheduler, Carol, stating a plumber would be at my house between 8:30 and 10:30 am. Fine. The plumber arrived at 9:15. Rather than calling me himself, he called Carol to have her call me to ask me to go outside in the back alley and show him where to park. I first looked out in front of my house and noticed there was plenty of street parking the driver could have used. No problem, I headed out back and found the plumber's truck, nobody inside, parked directly in front of and blocking a set of 4 garage doors.

Since he wasn't in the truck, I couldn't show him where to park. Out of nowhere I hear the guy yelling Yo! Where is (address)...Are you (address)!!?? I walked back around front to find the sloppy, rude plumber and tell him he can't park where he was because he was blocking other resident's garages. He yelled again that it would only take him two minutes. I insisted that he move the truck back 30 feet in front of a fence where other cars would be able to safely pass. He made a series of rude comments, pretended to get in his truck to move it, then inexplicably drove off and did not return.

I called Carol back and explained what had just happened. In her typically annoyed voice, she said she would check the schedule to see when someone else could come out and call me back. After a few minutes, I called back and told her to cancel the service as I would be taking my business elsewhere. Okey dokey, she said, and slammed down the phone.

Do yourself a favor and find a real plumbing service to do your work. By the looks of the plumber, you likely wouldn't want this cowardly slob stepping foot in your house anyway.

Let's start with the attitude of the phone lady Caroll, who made me feel so unwelcomed calling ing. Going over to the Drain cleaner (TRAVIS), he really acts sketchy, and gives you not a trustworthy feeling.

If you live in an apartment building, and you have to pay yourself for the drainage service due to a clog WATCH OUT!!!

Last week they came over to unclog my upstairs neighbors. Instead of getting rid of the clog, Travis snaked the problem on to my unit downstairs. A little week later, all the water was coming out of the outside pipeline in my patio.

Instead of solving the entire problem, they make you wait a couple days so they can come over to bill you extra.

Therefore, THIS IS NOT THE CHEAPEST DRAIN CLEANING!

Called at 2 pm on Saturday; drain was cleaned by 4 pm for $35! I'm only using Baird's from now on for drain cleaning needs. I'd had a handyman that had snaked it for me an hour previously, but said it was stuck somewhere between the kitchen sink and the wall and it needed a snake with something sharp to get through the hardened grunge. Baird's electric snake did the trick once he went in from the outside. Nice guy,too. Color me Very Happy!

Once again Baird's did not disappoint. My kitchen sink has been draining slow for a few months so I decided it was time to call and have the drain cleared. I have had to use them multiple times over the past five years now (we have a tree in the front yard that keeps shooting roots into our pipes, and we haven't gotten around to taking care of the tree yet.) each time I call in the morning, they call me back within a reasonable time (usually between 9 and 10am if I call in the morning), and the receptionist gives me a time frame for the visit. The work is always fast. Josh has been the one out here the past few times, and he is pleasant, and professional, and doesn't mess around. The price is great too, if you just need the drain cleared.

Great service once you get someone to your house you have to leave a message with the lady and then she has to get in touch with the plumber based on what part of San Diego do you reside in and the time of day you are calling so if you have an emergency call first thing in the morning like six or seven in the morning to have a guy out to your house by 4 PM they only have about three or four plumbers the good thing is they take cash or check yeah I felt funny di GGING through my drawers looking for my checkbook their drain service is $30!!!

I've had the extreme pleasure of having George come out to my home for many years. He's got decades of experience, is extremely knowledgeable, honest as the day is long, and very reasonably priced. He also keeps notes, so when he arrived today to troubleshoot my clogged drains, he knew that there had been tree roots invading my drain 40 feet from the clean-out during his last visit. That same spot turned out to be where the problem was today. Contrary to what other reviews say about the lady on the phone, she has always been pleasant. She told me today that George was at another job and that she'd call me back with a time once she was able to get hold of him. Half an hour later, she called me back to say he'd be here between 12:30 and 2:00. Then she called me back again to say George had finished his job early and asked if he could come right over. This is a mom and pop operation and I could hear her telling kids to get down today during a long pause in our conversation. I'd much rather hear that, and straightforward talk, than a voice with an accent from a call center that's thousands of miles away.

Borderline between two and three stars here, but I'm feeling generous. Drain clogged in the house I'm renting. Landlord contacted these guys, these guys reached out to me to set a time to come. Granted, they reached out to me immediately but they practically harassed me in doing so. They called me three times in about 30 minutes between approximately 7:40 and 8:10 a.m. First of all, that's a little early to be calling at all, but three times in thirty minutes? I was up, so that didn't matter, but I was on work calls all morning and I couldn't answer.

I call them back, am greeted by a surly woman, and we agree to 10:30-12 for service. 12:30ish rolls around and nobody's showed up. Call surly woman back, who is still surly in case you were wondering, and she says she'll page the guy.

When the guy finally did show up, he fixed the problem within minutes and was on his way. So all's well that ends well I suppose.

Only regret is not calling this company in the first place. Honest and for a fraction of the price of less scrupulous companies. No hard upsell for unnecessary services like other companies. Only problem is scheduling. Was told would get a call for Friday morning, but didn't hear until Saturday. But they came out and fixed the problem on Saturday, so if you can bear the appointment scheduling time issues that seem to be apparent on other reviews, i would be patient. its totally worth it.

The guy snaked the drain and didn't even check if it was still doing the same problem which was when we turned on the garbage disposal it would back up into our bathroom. He litterally snaked it then said okay $30. My husband asked if he checked to make sure the problem was resolved from the kitchen and the guy said you don't believe me?, so my husband went to the kitchen and turned on the water and garbage disposal to check while the guy sat on our couch with his hands up behind his head sitting there shaking his head because my husband wanted to check if everything was good to go. They obviously need to learn customer service.

My apartment has had issues for over a week now. We tried snaking the drain ourselves, tried sucking the issue out with a shop vac, and tried one of those liquid plumbers, but nothing worked. I got this company's number from my landlady, called, and got an appointment within the hour. The receptionist was very prompt, calling me back after I requested service, and gave me a window of 2:30 to 4:30. Lee, the man who came over to take car of my tub drain, came at 2:33 and was out by 2:50! He had fixed the problem in a jiffy and was very polite and charismatic. It cost $30, they only take cash or check, and it is so worth every penny being able to take a proper shower again!

Had an appt today with George btwn 1 and 3. Around 3:20 i called the office to find out if Geofge was going to show up. The not so pleasant woman on the other end said she would page him and get back to me. 20 minutes later I called her back since I had not heard from her. She said she'd page him again and get bàck to me. Didn't hear from her. Around 4:45 (assuming they closed at 5) i called again but i only got their recording.
My main complaint is that they should have kept me informed so i didn't sit around waiting for someone who is not going to show up. The receptionist could have called to tell me that he was gojng to be late or even to reschedule - that would have been fine. And twice she didn't even call me back when she said she was going to. She wasted my entire afternoon!!! And she wasnt even pleasant. I'd get rid of her ASAP!!!

Baird's is great. I called around 7:50 am and spoke to a woman answering the phone. She is professional but all business, I would disagree with rude as stated in another review. She told me she would call back between 8:30 and 9:30 with a window of when they could come. Close to 9 she called and said they were in the area. A nice young man came to the house and cleaned the drain out. There were a couple issues with accessing our cleanout but he assessed the situation and figured it out. The rate was 30.00 which is very reasonable. We have used them for years and I highly recommend this business.

Kitchen sink was clogged. I called after hours on friday. Receptionist returned my call 8am on the dot Saturday.

She is a straight to the point gal. Yea, she isn't much of a chit chatter, but she is efficient and effective at connecting her business time to your needs. She just asks which sink has the issue, and then will call you back to give you times the plumber will be in your area.

She called again around noon, let me know guy would be in area 2-4pm. Guy came 3pm on the dot. Did a good job for the kitchen sink clog, he even went on the roof to ensure the clogged was cleared thoroughly. Even chatted with my boyfriend about football for a few. In and out 30 minutes. Cost 30 dollars.

Quick service, gets the job done, no fuss, no BS, and awesome pricing. I absolutely adore it.

Will definitely use again, and recommend.

I love Baird's. George used to come to our house and snake our drains when I was a kid, and when I bought my own house, nearly as old and rusty as my childhood home, I knew just who to call when our first clog occurred. Many clogs have followed, and I always call Baird's. They may have their imperfections, but every company does. At least you know you are supporting a small, family-owned business that is run by honest and reliable people who charge you less than a tank of gas to make your bathroom stop smelling like rotting poo. If you want the dispatcher to act like your therapist, call somewhere else. If you want to pick your day and time, call somewhere else. If you want that nasty clog removed and enough money left in your pocket to buy some dinner, call Baird's.

Great Service!!!! Michael came to my house yesterday to clean my kitchen drain. After 2 different plumbers came by and couldn't do the job. Michael got it done within 30 minutes! He cleared my kitchen drain, then noticed my laundry drain was backed up. He did that one too, didn't try to upcharge me. And was gone within 30 minutes!

I knew from the first 2 minutes they were in my house we had called the right company. What a GREAT service these guys provide. After calling another company they spent 3 hours trying to clear a clogged toilet. After they couldn't clear the drain they told me we needed to rip out a wall to clear the sewer drain and still wouldn't guarantee that it would fix the problem. Quote was 1500.00 to start. I decided to get another opinion and i am glad i did. Within 1/2 hour after George and Jess showed up the drain was clear and it was $50.00. Got a great lesson from George and will only use them in the future. Do yourself a favor and call them first. Very honest and trustworthy and you wont regret it.

We have been using George for 14 years and up until about 10 years ago, he was always the one who handled our problems (we have a 60 year old house with old pipes and need them about every 2 years).

I'm writing this review on the small chance that either George or his son see it and hear that his wife wouldn't even let me talk to him about the recurring issues with our pipes. I was willing to pay to have him come out and advise me on the steps to take to keep roots out, etc but she won't even let me talk to him and said he's not available. I said I was willing to wait but she blew me off.

Everything that people mentioned about her is true. She won't remember you called, she apparently doesn't write anything down because I have to give her my info (ALL my info) again and again (spelling my street name every time) and remind her what we discussed. She will NEVER call you to confirm a time. When you call back to check on things, she'll say Oh yeah, they will be out between X and X. (Wow! When were you going to tell me?)

I HAVE to assume that she is his wife and he doesn't have a choice but to use her for his business and that is too bad. This last time I called her, I decided it was my last time...period!

I'd also like to extend an offer to any of his plumbing assistants to send me their phone numbers directly so that I can bypass this rude woman.

I don't want to hurt George or his business in any way but the way in which she is hurting him is far worse than this Yelp review. Is it really saving you money to have her, George? Really?

We just had Josh from George Baird drain cleaning come to our house to snake and camera our lateral connection to the main sewer. He is really professional, courteous, helpful and friendly. He explained everything clearly and made recommendations that seemed right on target to us. AND their prices are really reasonable! I'd recommend them in a heartbeat!

Terrible experience with Baird's Drain Cleaning today. I was scheduled for drain service between 12:30-1:30 and made arrangements with work to be home. I was called sometime after 12:00 and told that the tech was running late...which happens. I was rescheduled for 3:30 or after 4:00, so I decided to go back to work. On my way back home to meet Baird's, I received a call at 3:12 asking where I was. I told them that I was 10-15 minutes from home for my 3:30 appointment. The dispatcher told me that they had rescheduled for 3:00, not 3:30 and that they would not wait the 10-15 minutes for me to get home. No apology, no consideration for having already missed their original appointment time. It was okay for them to inconvenience me for 3+ hours, but they would not wait 10-15 minutes for the sake of customer service. I cannot comment on the quality of their drain cleaning services, but I can say that there are too many other options out there for me to choose from to be treated with the callousness that I was treated with by Baird's. I will not try to use them again and I warn anyone that values their time to be wary of Baird's.

Baird Drain Service is busy every time you call...because they are good. It might take a day or two for them to get to you, but for clogs, they are the best. I've used them three times. Friendly quick service. Their service time at the house take about 10 minutes. Each time I was charged around $25. Such a value for the service.

As referred to Baird's Drain Cleaning by a friend who used them and I could not have been more pleased. Kitchen drain got plugged up on a Saturday afternoon. I dealt with it until Monday and called Baird's. Scheduler was matter of fact, not rude as others have indicated. She took my info and called me back with a window of 12:30-2:30. Around 2pm they arrived. Friendly and professional. Went to work immediately. After not being able to clear it through the clean out valve he went up on the roof, in the pouring rain, and worked on the clog for about 30 minutes. Success! When all done I reached for my card and was politely informed cash or check only (FYI). When he told me the amount I assumed I misheard him. No way could it have been that low! I happily wrote the check for twice the charged amount based upon the time, effort and outcome. Use. This. Company.

Great service in East County! I would recommend it to anybody. They are friendly and professional. This is my second time to use them in unrelated issues...They do the job fast and they do it well. Most importantly they will not reap you off. Last year for a main sewage clogged was $49 others...$$$hundreds$$$ Today, main drain clogged and bathtub clogged for only $70.

We had Josh Henderson come out cleared whole house and tell us exactly what we needed to do to access the main sewer line where problem was in line. He came back the next day and only charged $50 dollars to clear drain! The first company wanted to charge us 3000 - 12000 dollars! Honest company and great employee! I would definitely use again!

I have used Baird's Drain for many years - I have always been completely satisfied. My kitchen sink & garbage disposal backed up Christmas night. I called Baird's the next morning. I was given a 2-hour window on when someone would be out. As is always the case, someone showed up within the time window. Yesterday it was Rob - super friendly, thorough, & professional. And you can't beat the price. I will always use Baird's! P.S. My clean-outs are on the roof, which a lot of other companies won't do because of liability. It's never been an issue with Baird's.

The ONLY reason they didn't get 1 star is because the cheap prices,BUT you get what you pay for. The dispatcher may very well be the rudest woman on earth, always pissed off. As proven by previous comments on their Yelp. That being said, the last time they sent a plumber, the guy just walks in the home, no call, no door bell. Let it be known, That's a GREAT way to get shot..... In my home. He comes in, immediately begins to use the restroom, without even closing the door. Then decided to get to work on my sink. He banged his tools on the cabinet, cracking the wood and chipping the paint. I did not notice until after he left and I immediately called the dispatcher she told me he doesn't work for the company that he's just a subcontractor I said that's great can I find a way to talk to him she says, I'll have them call you. Of course he never did so I called back and was completely blown off by the dispatcher again.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Least accommodating service imaginable. I arranged for a plumber to come fix my kitchen sink. I carved a two hour window out of my work day in order to be there for the plumber to arrive. I waited around watching time pass and he never showed up. I rescheduled, was given a large window of time where I had to rearrange my schedule to be available for them, and ONCE AGAIN THEY DID NOT SHOW UP. Unbelievably frustrating. I regret wasting all this time trying to work with them again instead of calling a competent service to get my problem fixed. Don't make my mistake.

To be fair, this was the second time I've gone to Baird's. The 1st time took them forever to get out to my place, but at least they fixed the problem.

On the 27 of this month, I contacted them to schedule George or his Son to come out and clean a lateral drain that clogged up - leaving my shower and sinks fill the garage sink and never drain. The morning of the 28th I get a phone call only to tell me they would call me in one hour to set a time.

An hour goes by, nothing. Another hour goes by, still nothing. I call back in and the lady answering the phone is brash to put it nicely. I explain my situation and she tells me they won't be in my area until after 1. I say that's fine because no one will be at the house until after 3pm, and if I can schedule it any time after 3pm.

She then comes back at me and wants me to call them after 3pm to set a time, without a reason why. I thought I was making it easy by leaving them a large open window.

At 2:38 she calls back saying they'll be there between 3:30 and 4:30. I then call my wife to make sure she's going to be there - which she was. I then returned the call to Baird's to confirm and she told me between 3:30 and 4:30.

3:30 rolls around, nothing. OK, Fine I understand no one is always on time. 4pm, still nothing. 4:30, still nothing. Call Bairds and get hung up on when I ask what the hold up is. Call at 4:50 and it goes right to the answering machine.

Absolute SHIT customer service and terrible breach of trust. At least the last time I used them someone came out. The annoying fact is that I was told I would be served - and nothing. No call, no txt, or a simple call saying sorry we're really backed up, but we'll still get out today.

Just nothing.

Called another very competitive service local to me, got it taken care of within the hour and for 55 bucks. Fast, friendly and came through.

I'm done with them after 20+ years. I am a landlord and have used them for many years but since last year their reliability is non-existent. Sure, their prices are low, but if you can't be sure that they will show up, it is not worth it.The tenant calls when there is a problem; they want it fixed the same day or at least by the next day. It's the same routine. Carol says she will call you back with a time frame - instead, I have to call her. She tells me someone will be out there between 3:30 - 5:30. No call. I call at 4:45 and you get the voice mail. You ask for a call back and confirmation that someone is coming. Silence. How can you run a business like this?! They will no longer have my business.

I see bad reviews, but my experience was amazing!! I was referred here by a friend because we had a sudden clog in our kitchen drain last night. Of course it happened while trying to make dinner. I powered through dinner and decided I would try draino first. So, I poured the whole bottle in the drain, let it sit for like an hour and then flushed it out! It wasn't a total clog, so water and such was slowly getting down. When I tried to flush with hot (read: boiling) water, it came back up in the sink. Defeated, I took to Facebook, and my friend gave me the number. It was 8:30 PM and I didn't want to call too late. So, I called at 8 am this morning. A nice lady answered the phone and said the guy would be in North Park between 12 & 2. I, unfortunately, already had an appointment away from home and would be here until 1. She called me at 12 and told me he was in the area. I confirmed that I wasn't home and couldn't be here until 1. She offered to call me back when he was done to see if I was home. She could have easily just written me off and told me to reschedule, but rather she worked with my schedule, knowing he was in the area. About 10 minutes after I arrived home from my appointment, she called and said he was on his way. He showed up less than 5 minutes later. Came in, worked the magic, and less than 10 minutes later the drain was cleared. All of this for only $25!!! Keeping this number on speed dial.

I had a stopped up shower drain that I thought needed to be snaked. A previous company had come out 6 months prior and charged me $145 to snake the drain. When Baird's came out, he said snaking was not needed and that I just needed to clean out my drain stopper. He gave me great tips to make sure my plumbing works well. While doing laundry water started backing up into the bathroom sink, then the kitchen sink. I called my usual plumber, he was very busy but recommended Baird. I called around 9:50am, Travis was at my door around 10:15am. Cleared the drain in the bathroom which took care of the kitchen backup. Decent price, and he even put up with our puppy jumping on him. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Dealing with them has been an absolute nightmare!!!! We recently contacted this company to schedule an appointment and a service date was scheduled. We were told someone would be calling to let us know what time the plumbers would show up. NO ONE EVER CAME. We waited and waited and basically our day was ruined since we took time away from work for this. When we called the office they stated they never had scheduled an appointment with us. I was weary about scheduling another appointment however the homeowner was having a bit of a plumbing emergency so we went ahead and gave them another chance. We scheduled another appointment for the following week. Again, we were told someone would be calling us in the morning to let us know what time the plumbers would arrive. We waited all morning and no one called. We the called the office and they had NO IDEA we had service call. They also stated they could not give us a time. We insisted they keep our scheduled appointment (although they seem completely confused about it). The receptionist stated she would call back then hung up before I finished talking. At 1pm the two plumbers arrived: One got out of the truck and the other one stayed in the vehicle. After looking at the pipes and showing the plumber the issues we were having he stated he couldn't do anything about it. Then, he asked the homeowner to write him a check. The homeowner told the plumber How can I write you a check if I don't know what you are going to do? What am I paying for?? She stated she was forced to give him a 60 dollar check. After that, both plumbers left.
We have NO idea why the homeowner paid 60 dollars. We did not receive a service invoice for ANY work that was done. The homeowner did not see them do ANY work, bring any equipment inside the house. No ladders were seen around the house. Basically, the plumber took the check and drove away.
I think this company is shady and I would STAY AWAY.

Big breach of trust.
I called Baird's regarding advise on best way to clear a slow drain, I mentioned trying sulfuric acid and the lady who answered said if I did then they couldn't clean out the drain if it didn't work, fine, I tried Liquid Plumber, however, next thing I know my Landlord shows up accusing me of pouring sulfuric acid down the drains. Guess Baird's is friends with my Landlord and gave her the wrong information. Nice, can't be trusted. Small town, big mouths.

CAROL IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I had a clog in my bathtub and they came sometime this morning to fix it while I was at work. I don't know if it's a coincidence or how it works, but suddenly my downstairs neighbor is having issues with her toilet. I called back to see if Travis could come back out (it was 2:30pm at this point), and she said no one was available. While Carol was explaining so rudely how plumbing worked (mind you, this clearly is not her job), I asked for her name and manager's name. She said her name wasn't relevant and there was no manager. And then hung up on me. When I went on Yelp, my coworkers and I had a field day reading all of the comments about the same unhelpful, nasty receptionist. Pay a little extra for the professionalism and thoroughness.

Awesome guys.

We had a drainage issue from the washer/sink in our detached garage to wherever the pipe drained (we are not sure where it goes and neither were the plumbers). They came out the same day I called them, inspected the issue, diagnosed the problem and then told me the bad news of, It can't be fixed but here's an alternative you can try and if you don't believe me here's the name to two other companies to call if you want a second opinion, all in a very apologetic way. Basically, the drain from our garage runs separate from our house and with the roots and other debris they were pulling up from the 120 feet of two inch cast iron pipe, it was going to be near impossible for anyone to fix. They didn't even charge me since the problem was beyond their control.

They even went the extra step of inspecting the rest of the pipes in our 1947 home and telling us everything else looks good as well as some suggestions for making some improvements.

The receptionist is a bit abrasive to deal with, but don't be put off by her. I am sure these guys get a ton of calls and the only thing that matters is who is showing up at your door. George showed up at mine with over 30 years of experience and he was a pro.

My landlord called and set up an appointment for Monday morning which is plenty of time to have someone come out to our house to unclog one sink, or at least a call to let you know they are running late. I scheduled an appointment and was given a time frame of when they would show up. I received a call from the receptionist asking if my tenant is home and I said yes, should be. Very rudely she told me that I had to confirm if she was home because he drain person was there. I called my tenant and confirmed that she was home and called the receptionist back in less then 2 minutes and confirmed to which she responded that the gentleman already left to his next job. I asked her how is that possible if he was there less then 3 minutes ago? I told her that my tenant had been there all day waiting for them because there was such a big gap in the time frame we were given and he didn't even bother knocking on the door... she then placed me on hold several times without telling me... was very rude and then hung up on me. We were recommended to this company because of their rates and superb work but regardless of how good your work is if you have horrible customer service it will turn business away.

of arrival based on when a tech would be in La Jolla area. The tech arrived in the window, took care of business with in 10 minutes. He was friendly and professional. I rent a nice large home from a professional RE company. We had our main line back up and our Agency called Baird's at 8AM on a Monday. Around 10:30, I checked with the agency to see what's up, and was given Baird's phone number. I called and talked to a very brusk lady that said, give me your number and I will call right back with an ETA. I waited 2 and a half hours and finally called them back Same lady answered and said: Oh, your agency didn't call you? We are not coming at all today, and then hung up on me. I called my agency, and they were surprised at my story, as Baird's didn't call them either.

If that's their normal service, I am amazed they are even in business. Total lack of consideration for the customer, totally unprofessional. If I could give ZERO stars, I would.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I've used this company before in the past (Jun-08, Jan-10 and Mar-10) with mixed feelings. The techs are great when you finally get them to your house. The dispatcher... that's another story entirely.

I called Nov 9, 2013 at 6:30am and left a message. I got a call back at 8:20am** with confirmation of my name and address inquiry, and a told she would call me back between 9-10am to tell me what time someone could come out. I didn't get a call back until 11:40am that NO ONE was available for today, she'd put me on the list for Monday.

BTW, I'm writing this on Monday, and its 10:49am and no phone call. I'm not even going to bother to call her out on this.

We call someone else on Sunday and got great response, professional service, and reasonable price.

(** Office hours are M-Sat 8am-5pm. The answering machine goes on promptly at 5pm whether they have techs in the field or not. The last time I used this service Mar-10, the tech didn't get to my house until 6:30pm. As I'd not been able to reach anyone at the service, we missed each other. That service call took two days. There is only one phone line for this business so not unusual to get a busy signal all day long.)

Edited to add: Just got a call but pushed it to voicemail. And it was rude. And it was at 12:04pm. But no extra stars for this review.

By far the most affordable drain cleaning service in San Diego. I do not recommend them as an emergency service but for next day service they are great I've never payed more than $60. Five stars based on the value of service but keep in mind that you will usually have to wait to the following day.

I have been trying to get this company to come out for days. I have sitting water in my kitchen sink for four days now, and if I wasn't renting I would have switched companies by now (rental agreement states that our landlord dictates those who can work on the place). I called the company today, and the lady just asked what street I lived on, and told me he'd be there between 12-2. Didn't ask my house number, didn't ask my name, and when I assertively said I absolutely need someone, today, I have to make sure I'm on that list because I can't even use my kitchen right now, she simply repeated he'll be there between 12-2 and HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME! What he'll be in the neighborhood between 12 and 2? Or will he somehow appear at my house between 12 and 2? The most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with, and if I had another option, I would recommended using someone else.

10 Stars if I could. I panicked when my kitchen sink drain turned into Old Faithful. A neighbor recommended I call Baird and what a wonderful tip. Jaime came out as scheduled and the drain was cleared in no time. Most of the time when I need a plumber it is for a clogged drain and this was by far the best experience and for an incredibly reasonable price. I cannot understand any of the negative reviews as I would not even think of calling anyone else. Awesome job Jaime!!!

I had a clogged up bathroom sink, of which I tried to unclog it myself. After 2 hours, on a Sunday morning, I gave up. Luckily, my neighbor told me about Baird's Drain Clearing service. I made an appointment the next day, Jaime, their technician, arrived at the proper time window, and after 30-40 minutes, the job was done. Jaime was able to clear a kitchen and bathroom sink. Total cost, $40. I have found a gem!

I'm not sure what the name of my person who came out to my house today (as I wasn't home when they came) but he was great in explaining what work needed to be done. With that being said. I was quoted $50-60 over the phone after I explained to
Them what the issue was. The technician came over and did his analysis using the camera and everything and determined that they there was a clog and I needed to do a cleanout therefore they didn't have the equipment for that and I would need to call a regular plumber. That's fine by me. But then they charged me $75 which is more than what I was told I was going to be charged over the phone to fix my problem. So I basically paid $75 for them to use a camera to find the problem but didn't fix anything. I understand the service needed was out of their scope but to charge me more than what I was quoted over the phone and not even fix the problem ?? It's absurd

Love these guys. Fast clean and cheap. They have a kind of scheduling matrix where they get all the addresses for the day and plan routes, then call you back and tell you when they're coming that is confusing until you understand it.
They offer basic drain clearing and aren't always able to get the drain because it needs fancier gear. When that happens, you don't pay for the visit even when the guy got up on the roof and tried.
Most times they do clear it on the first try. When they don't, I'm still glad I called them first. They give you enough info that you can tell the next company what's going on outside. (They recommend Affordable Drain and I like them a lot as well - at twice the $30 to $60 fee)
I always start with Bairds and I'm always glad I did.

All people wondering if they should choose this company but see the some people give them lower rates because of their personalities, ignore those ratings and remember Baird's Drain Cleaning is coming out to do a job and do it right the first time. I have used this company for my girlfriend's place and now my own. If or when, if ever, I have a problem or know someone in need of services Baird's Drain Cleaning offers I will recommend them because they get the job done right, quick, and cheap. I've read complaints about the receptionist being rude, but I use them for their reasonable prices and as long as prices stay low, I can care less how my 2 minute interaction with the operator goes as long as she sets an appointment and they make it out on time and do the job.

Drains backing up and overflowing on our hardwood is no good. I called three companies and got quotes, all were around the same rate. Then I got a referral to Baird's from a friend who has used them many times. Thank god I did. Baird's was the most affordable by a wide margin, they came sooner than I could get from the others, and the service was fast, friendly, and easy. They may not have fancy uniforms or sponsor events around town, but they do their job well. Michael was running late and called to let me know that our time frame would be a little after we'd planned. After he arrived, he diagnosed the issue, quickly cleaned out the drain line, and made sure it wouldn't back up again. Then he gave me some tips to avoid having the same issue again in the near future. The older drain lines in my area (Bay Park) make the need for periodic professional cleaning inevitable, but I wouldn't hesitate to call Baird's or refer them to a friend. Highly, highly recommended.

Was having trouble with our kitchen sink. I took all three pipes out and they weren't clogged. So I called our plumber. Are I described the situation to him he told me to call Baird's. I was sceptical at first. I called them 8 am the last on the phone said they would call me around 9 to give me a time they would come by. She called on time and gave me a window of 10-12. They showed up at 11. They were great. He knew right away what the problem was. Took care of it quickly. The best part was that it only cost me $25. I would highly recommend them.

I tried getting an appointment with this company. Tried several times. I was always told they would call me back. They never did. Couldn't even get someone to come out and see the issue. How these companies stay in business is beyond me. Maybe there is so much work that their customer service can be subpar. SMH

If there was a 0 star, that is what Baird's deserves. My sink is currently clogged and I made an appointment for the plumber to come take a look. The receptionist told us he would be here after 4:00pm. We waited all night and he never showed up with absolutely no phone call. The next day, we spoke with the receptionist again and explained that we waited all night and he never came. She was extremely rude and cancelled the appointment. Our landlord insisted to try with them again so we were forced to make a second appointment. The same receptionist called and said he would be here between 12:00pm-2:00pm. It is now 3:00pm. This company is unprofessional and defintely NOT on time. If you want to waste your whole day waiting, then this is the company for you,

The short version.... the receptionist is great. She is straight-to-the-point, not rude, and she returns calls as promised. The plumbers themselves are super nice, always wipe their feel at the door, and are always done in 20 mins or less, usually 5 minutes.

Regardless, they're inexpensive, courteous, and get the job done. I have used them five times so far, and always a positive experience. If you want them to coddle you and talk to you like you're god, then call Bill Howe. If you want the job done right for around $20, call Bairds.

Eek! Methinks not. Is precisely what I would warn people... here... **** WARNING... STAY AWAY!!! ****

The 4-5 stars may be for a simple job.. and i get that managers / owners like them cuz they are so cheap.

but... you may have to re-define cheap... because we've had to call them back time and time again... i'm waiting now for their... 5th... visit.

and like so many others have noted... super rude recept... ZERO customer service...even by my landlords standards...so it's not just me.

this will likely (hopefully) be the last visit... and this is only to finish a job they started nearly 2 weeks ago... TWO WEEKS!!

First they didn't do it enough / or right or whatever ... 2 weeks ago... went to do laundry...and back to square one... called... they came out, the guy complained that his equipment broke... an engine broke or something... and he would have to return on friday or saturday... (4+ days later)... so... ok... i just go with this...cuz...what choice do i have... well...friday came and went, NO SHOW... saturday came...NO SHOW ...

called my landlord... she apologized ... and called sunday night... they never called her back... she called them monday monring... the recpt acted like we were interupting her day ... and was 'oh...ok... well... some time this morning i guess... you're sure it's not working?... yeah...

so... here it is... after 1...still no word... i called them, and then she said oh... when he's free, i'll call him, and i will call you back ... i begged for an estimate... I'M SITTING HERE ALL DAY!!!! and she said well...maybe between 2 and 4... nice

we'll see what happens by 4... I'M NOT HOPEFUL.

Very reputable, honest business. My toilet backed up and so did my bathtub--water all over my hardwood floor and ceramic tile. I called two other places, one wanted $275, the other never returned my call. Baird's quoted $50-75 on the phone and charged me *$25*, WHEN have you ever heard of THAT?!? I definitely recommend them.

How can you screw a loyal customer over? I'll tell you how...

Called Monday at 9:00 a.m. and was told that I would be serviced between 1:30-3:30 p.m. at 4:15 p.m. they called and said would be another hour. At 5:30 p.m. some called and hung up on me and when I called back I got the answring machine. I called again on Tuesday and the appointment scheduler acted like she had no idea who I was...we recheduled and someone did show up but could not unclog the drain. She promised somone more experienced would come on Wednesday. On Wednesday nobody called or showed up.

Very disappointed. I wasted 3 days trying to get my drain unclogged by these guys and I can't believe the disappointed. No shame.

WOW! Just amazing. I called last night for a septic clog. I was able to have someone at my house first thing this morning. $50.00 and the problem was all fixed. I don't see how Doug D could possibly be talking about the same Baird's Drain service. We've been using them for about 12 years now and George is the greatest. He's prompt, friendly, and truly wants to help. He is a rare find in this day and age. And, George always takes care of the clog *completely*, to the street, and tests extensively to make sure all is flowing as it should. And if there *was* a problem, George would have taken care of it right away. So, I just don't believe it was the same guy.

We bought a house that was built in 1957, so it has cast iron pipes. Believe me when I tell you we've had to get George out here on *numerous* occasions, including one Thanksgiving when he came as a favor because we had a house full of people and not a single working drain. I'm talking sinks, toilets, the works. To top it off, he didn't charge us that day, and instead left with some pie, turkey & fixin's as payment.

Last night my daughter and I were doing the dishes when I heard the tell-take gurgling coming from the laundry room bathroom. I called at 10:40 this morning, and George was snaking the drain at 11:10. $20 and 15 minutes later, my drains are working properly and all is well again. George ROCKS.

I had the best customer experience today. Had a clogged sewer line, called it in yesterday and completely fixed by 10 am this morning. Josh came out and was super nice, knowledgeable, and informative. Took the time to educate me on what was happening and why it happened. Had another big name company come out and take a look at it and wasn't feeling it. Got a referral from my realtor who uses them all the time for her rentals and couldn't be more pleased. Called them; got a busy signal. Called again 1 minute later and the no-nonsense (but NOT rude) receptionist got the pertinent information and said she'd check with someone to see when they could stop by.

She called me back in 10 minutes (about 1:30pm) and told me someone would be here between 2pm and 4pm.

A very personable and laid back young man showed up at 2:30pm and within a few minutes he was hard at work clearing roots between the clean out in our front yard and the city's sewer. The whole time, just as other reviews say, he was very friendly and informative. Before I knew it, our whole house was draining normally again, including a bathroom sink that had been running extremely slow since we moved into this house well over a year ago.

My experience was perfect, and the pricing was far less than even any bargain plumber I'd hired before: $40 to snake a clean out up to 100ft (roots in our main drain had backed up the whole house) and just another $10 to clear the bathroom sink's extremely slow drain (unrelated).

Until the city comes and fixes their mess of roots & pipes from my sidewalk to the street's sewer, I'm always going to call Baird's and save a ton of money!

Okay - so my tub has been off and on clogged for months. Some days it will be clogged, but with the miracle of a plunger, it'll go down eventually. Other days, not so much. So when I realized I would finally have to get it looked at by a professional, I put out a recommendation request on Facebook. Baird's Drain Cleaning seemed to be the consensus of my Facebook friends. I called on Friday morning, asking if they had any available times on Saturday. The receptionist said that she would call me between 9-10 a.m. on Saturday to give me an idea of what time they'd be there. To my surprise, she called me before 9 to say they were on their way to North Park from Serra Mesa. ZOINKS! So the guy comes in and notices that my bathroom sink is going slow, so he tells me that I can get that routed for just a little bit more money - suuuure! Might as well have all of my drains cleared. So he was done with my apartment in about 10 minutes. The only problem was they only take cash & checks, so I had to go to the ATM to get some cash, but I was honestly so happy to have my drains cleared, it wasn't that big of a deal. I have their number on speed dial for any future issues. $45 for a tub and a sink to be cleared is a bargain to me! Yay!

My brother and my neighbors recommended Baird and they were right. Scheduling was easy. Service was available the next day for a non-urgent problem. Quick and inexpensive. I have used Baird twice on the recommendation of my contractor. $25 for each visit. They showed up within the time specified (2 hr block) and called when they were on their way. The work was done quickly (15 minutes) and they kept the work area clean.

As mentioned in other posts, they use a dispatch system. You call and speak to the scheduler/dispatcher. She is direct, but efficient. She'll just need your address and phone number, then she can set you up with a time window for the work.

I would recommend these guys to friends and family.

The drain for the washing machine was overflowing. Not a good scene with guests coming to our house for the holiday weekend. We called Baird's.

I told them I was working and would need 20 minutes to get to the house. They said they would call me. True to their word, 20 minutes before they arrived they called and I ran home.

They were at the house for 35 minutes, cleaned out the drain for the washer and also two sinks that were draining slowly. I asked for the bill and when he told me I nearly fell over. What a bargain!

Clogged toilet led to the call. A friendly guy arrived, checked it with a bucket of water and declared it working just fine. I told him it clogged up after about a week of use. He said I had a 'touchy' toilet and nothing to be done. Kindly he didn't charge for the 10 min. call and left.I ordered a new toilet, knowing my wife wouldn't put up with a 'touchy' toilet any longer. It clogged up within 2 days and I had to have another plumber visit. He pulled the toilet and found roots clogging the pipe. 20 min. of root removal and he replaced the toilet. Works great! So, this co. sends guys who don't know or don't want to work. Simply not qualified.

The receptionist rude? No, just super straight to the point. The receptionist never remembers you? Probably, she is fielding 100's of calls. The guys run a little late?
Sometimes, but most the time they arrive on time and happy to help.

Remember people they charge $20 to clear your drain. I have been using them for over 15 years and will continue for the next 15.

This company is AWESOME! We use them several times a year (old house, old pipes), and they get the drains unclogged every time for a great price ($35 and of course I tip). When I call in the morning, they call me back w/ a 2 hour time frame AND give me a 20 minutes heads up call so I can leave work. They're in and out of the house quickly, and then I'm back to work. Plumbers are very nice. Not at all rude and know what they are doing. However the receptionist is rude. I've been calling for weeks about money that I didn't have to pay because I was still under warranty. There must not be any communication or paper work written for orders. Or else the plumber would have known not to charge for work that was still under the warranty. I shouldn't be treated rudely for their mess up. I will remove this review once the issue is resolved and I stop getting the run around. And if the receptionist does not like her job then she shouldn't be answering the phones and giving customers attitude.

I have used George Baird for at least 10 years on my drains and my rental properties, I have always gotten great service on the phone and even better service from the guys that do the work. TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT USE. This has to be one of the worse run businesses I have very experienced. The lady that answered the phone, carol, is extremely rude and unhelpful. After scheduling an appointment with her (which she made it feel as though she was doing us an extreme favor for just doing her job) for a two hour window, the plumber never showed up! The never called to say they weren't coming, they never answered our calls to see where they were. And now it's Monday morning(2 days later) and all I'm getting is a busy signal when I call them. Do not go here, there are so many other options.

We use Baird all the time at our complex in PB to snake the drains. The plumbing is pretty old and unfortunately tenants have frequent issues. Baird can usually come out the same or next day. They get the job done quickly and the pricing is more than reasonable; a fraction of the cost as some of the well advertised companies. Definitely recommend if you have a clogged drain.

SO happy with the service and with the reasonable price. I can't say enough good things about this company. Our main line needed to be snaked and we called 2 separate companies to come out and give us an estimate. Because we live in an older neighborhood and don't have 'clean-outs' in the yard, the other companies wanted to charge us $1200 & $1500 to install them and snake our line. Are you kidding? We haven't had an issue in 10 years with our drains and the last time we did someone just went on the roof and snaked to the street. Simple. But its not for the other companies because they don't get on roofs. Again, really??

So thank God we got 3 separate recommendations for Baird's Drain Cleaning. Jess came out the next day, immediately knew what to do, climbed up on the roof and within 30 minutes the drains are clean and everything is running great! He was incredibly nice, professional, and never tried to up-sell us to installing clean-outs. In fact, he told us since we rarely have issues and the pipes look good, we are fine without them. When we asked about price in case we want to install them in the future, he quoted me $650. HALF of what the other companies wanted. The bill for today? $125!! Worth every penny and I can't tell you how much I appreciate an honest business!! I will never call anyone else for our drains and highly recommend them :)

Mr. Baird is a no-nonsense individual who does a good job for a good price. I realize that when your drain is backed up you are probably a little upset and I would guess that most of you complaining about the receptionist weren't too pleasant yourself. Think Karma.

I noticed my cleanout by the street was leaking. I called Baird, he was out with a helper within an hour, they cleaned out my drain, gave me some advice about a ficus tree that was causing the problem and charged me a very reasonable rate.

I will never call them again. I called them yesterday because the condensation from my air conditioner was coming through my ceiling light. This happens every year and it's because the pipes under my bathroom sink get backed up. It was 92 in Santee yesterday and I have four pets, one which cannot take the heat at all. They said 4:30 when I get home from work yesterday was too late, so they made the visit for today. Keep in mind, I took a VACATION DAY so that I could get this done. My condo got up to 87 last night and I had to put on the air for a while because I thought my dog was going to die. I had to stay awake to make sure the leak didn't get too bad. I also had to keep the dogs in my bed since my bedroom is the coolest room. When they booked the apt for today and said they would call in the morning, I called them to see what time, since after all, it's HOT IN SANTEE and this is my VACATION DAY. Her comment was I haven't called you yet.... I said I know, I'm on vacation and just wanted to see when you are coming. She said she would call back in an hour (and then hung up without a bye, or sorry you just got disconnected), which she did. She booked the appointment between 1:30 and 3:30. At 2:42, she called and cancelled. Apparently some tool broke that the plumber needed. I sat here in my upstairs condo in Santee, that has two sky lights, with my four pets, sweating the entire day to the point of getting dizzy, and THEY CALL ME AT 2:42 AND CANCEL!!!!!!! I very well could have gone to someone else yesterday and avoided the suffering for two days, and enjoyed my day off. Yeah, they are cheap. But THIS is not worth it. If I could give a ZERO star I would. To let me (67 year old lady) and my pets suffer for two days and then CANCEL is just the most obnoxious and unprofessional service I have ever seen. He couldn't buy a new part for the job???? I'll pay more and get the service. Just made a call at 2:48 and found someone with high ratings on Yelp to come to my house before 4:00. Now, that's worth paying for, especially in this heat with pets. Unreal. Just unreal. Just got a call from the NEW plumber and they are running EARLY and will be here at 3:30. Wish I had found them yesterday.

My tenant used Baird and referred me.
When I had a clog in kitchen sink and sewer back up in the washing machine, I asked for mainline cleaning. They said I did not have the sewer back up in mainline. Therefore, we only needed snake the drain.
They are professional always friendly, knowledgeable, honesty and fast; but thorough and theirs rates are better than anyone else. Basically 5 stars

Once again these guys were fantastic. I would never have anybody else come out to clear a drain except Baird's. I had a sewer line that was backing up into my house. I couldn't run water in anything in the house without it backing up somewhere else. It was really bad. Josh came out and spent several hours, not giving up until the job was done. He's very pleasant to work with, and does a great job. And the price was definitely right. I think I've had everybody from Baird's come out to my house at some point in time over the years, they are all professional, and they all get the job done while not charging outrageous prices. I have used Barid drain four times to clear drains in the home I rent since my landlord does not want to spend the money to replace the cast iron plumbing lines in this old house and continues to blame me when they stop up. The lines (per previous camera inspection) have about the size of a nickels diameter for water to pass through so as you can guess, the lines give me problems continually. Barid drain is not a fancy schmancy company like Andersons or other companies but I can tell you this, they get the same exact job done when it comes to clearing lines that the fancy companies do and instead of it costing 250 bucks it costs 25 bucks! Yes, that was not a typo, 25 bucks people! What are these reviews expecting for 25 bucks? ! A butt kisser appointment taker on the phone? Plummers to not have 'plummers crack' and to wear cute booties to protect your precious floors? You really need that silly bright pink Andersons folder with all the so called 'coupons'! Give me a break! All that silly fluff comes right out of your pocket folks...People want to pay super cheap prices and expect gold standard treatment, get real! Yeah, the phone lady can be grouchy but its actually kind of fun, she reminds me of Flo on Mel's diner back in the day lol. You can always catch more Flo Flys with honey rather than vinegar so be nice to the old gal and she'll warm up to ya....Hell, at these prices Barid drain is doing you a favor! I would have to say they are one of the last honest plumbing companies I have come across that do not absolutely price gouge the hell out of people. The only reason I took away one star is because I do have to call back a couple of times to get / confirm my appointments but for only 25 bucks NO BIG DEAL, they do eventually come out and get the job done!

Have used Baird a few times over the past couple of years at two different properties. The plumber always shows up when he says he is going to, he even calls first to confirm I am home!

They snake and clean drains fast and inexpensively without all of the cost and non sense of the $125 per hour guys that I've used in the past.

Just to let you know they are not plumbers, but do a wonderful job at clearing drains.

He also informed me that an incorrect washer was installed on my drain pipe; Bill Howe (whom my rental agency has a contract with for their tenants had came out a week before to Try to fix it; or else I would have contacted Baird to get it done right the 1st time !!) Anyways The Bill Howe guy didn't even notice that the gasket was an incorrect one!What a joke!! George Baird cost me $20 bucks !!!! I gave the Baird Plumber a $20 dollar tip !! Well worth it. These guys are the best. I've been using them for about 7 years now and they never disappoint. After a whole weekend of repeated attempts to unclog my main bathroom drain using a plunger, liquid clog remover, and finally a manual drain snake I gave up. At the end my main bathroom sink was still clogged, and I made things worse because my master bathroom sink was now also clogged. Not to mention the two days I spent trying to unclog the sink and going back and forth to Home Depot for the tools I needed (manual drain snake, liquid clog remover), I spent about $50 + gas for the couple of trips to Home Depot. My brain finally kicked in, and I finally decided to call Baird's on Monday, July 3rd. I figured they wouldn't be able to come until after the July 4th holiday, but they came that same day in the afternoon. As usual they came in and quickly fixed my clogged restroom drains. I paid them them their $25 fee, and they were on their way and I was a happy customer for the wonderful service. Why didn't I call them from the beginning to avoid all the trouble you may ask? I was convinced this would be and easy job that I could do myself and wouldn't need to call the professionals. In hindsight, I should've called them right away. I ended up spending about $100 to get the drains unclogged (about $75 spent trying to do it myself and $25 for Bairds doing it for me). Lesson learned. Bottom line, these guys come out quickly, do a great job getting your drains unclogged, and the price cannot be beat. Next time I will call them right away and give up trying to do the job they have mastered.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I didn't even get to use there service they were so bad. Originally called and spoke to a lady who answers the phone to have a clogged drain cleared. They have to call back hours later to just schedule a time. So I waited all day to just get a phone call stating they couldn't get to it until the next day. I called someone else for that job but had another job come up two days later. Called and spoke to the same RUDE LADY, stated very clearly that I had called two days ago about a different address, and said I had a new issue at a different address. Said she would call in the AM to schedule an appointment. Didn't hear from her so I called just to make sure I was going to still get a call to schedule an appt. She asked what address and confirmed the address. I got a call hours later they can be at the location in 10 minutes and again they stated the address. Went to the location and waited, nobody shows and I receive a call asking what the address was again. After I told her, she stated Oh no this was for the job at the other address I called about 2 days ago. SERIOUSLY!! She tried telling me that she was talking about the 1st address the whole time and she never referred to my 2nd correct address. Then she says for this job its not until later in the day and she will call with an updated time. So I go back to work and receive a call 2 hours later, my guy will be there in 5 minutes, if you can't be there, it will be rescheduled for tomorrow. UNBELIEVABLE!! Needless to say, I told her I was done with their company. They or should I say the RUDE LADY, is very unprofessional and clearly ahas no clue what she is doing and could careless what you think. You are just another number to them, not an important customer because they know you are at their mercy. My advice, don't bother calling.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Worst customer experience ever! I don't have a clue how they have 4 stars! 1) Receptionist is super rude. She never says goodbye she just hangs up on you. I had to call her back a few times because I wasn't done talking to her. 2) They don't make appointments, you let her know what day you're available and she says ok, I'll call you Friday morning, *click*. 3) She never calls back, I always had to call her to figure out what time the plumber was coming. 4) Twice the plumber was a no show, the second day I called the recptionist in the afternoon (eventhough she said she'd call me in the morning) wondering what time he was coming and she said I'll call him to see where he's at, *click* surprise surprise, she never called back and the plumber never came. 5)We give them one last chance, I call asking what time he's coming and she says between 12-2... HOW WERE WE NOT PRIORITY AFTER 2 NO SHOWS??? AND WHY DO I HAVE TO CALL TO REMIND HER THAT WE STILL NEED SERVICE?! He eventually shows up close to 2 and apologizes by giving us a bunch of excuses why he didn't show. (for some reason my landlord loves them, prob because they're cheap. My tub drain was completely backed up and my landlord suggested this place. Gave them a call yesterday and had to leave a voicemail. Received a call back first thing this morning. The lady took down my info and said she would call between 8-9 with a time someone could come. When she called back she let me know a plumber would be in the area between 9:30 and 11:30. The plumber showed up around 10:30 and had the drain unclogged in less than 10 minutes. Very professional, very fast and cheap, only $25 compared to the $100 I was quoted from other companies!

Basic service -- but it's valuable only when it's done right the first time. It wasn't. A surly, practically monosyllabic fellow showed up, snaked the drain swiftly and didn't run a sufficient volume of water through the drain, so he didn't see he had NOT cleared the drain with his snake. We had to call and complain, another day of not being able to use the kitchen sink. The second fellow from Baird's was even more monosyllabic than the last, obviously didn't want to be here and didn't give a hang about customer service, slammed through the job (now done properly) and disappeared. Yeah, it's inexpensive, but this experience was unpleasant and not timely.

We had our main snaked several times, (snaked all the way into the main sewer) & even called the city who flushed the sewer lines. Our neighbor had referred us to Baird's - We couldn't be happier! Disappointed by a company I've had great service from in the past. Receptionist is rude! Too bad since the owner seems nice enough, experienced, and inexpensive.

I called in today to see about getting a drain unclogged as I have more than a couple of times in the past 7-8 years. I was told I would get a call back with a time they would be available. I explained that I was in a classroom and would be unable to answer a call, and would not be available today until after 2:30 and I would call her back. I called during my break and only received a busy signal. When I called in at 2:30, I was told that they were no longer in the area and unable to complete the job today.

Well, ok, not having the flexibilty to be there until after a set time, I asked about tomorrow and was told that I would have to call back tomorrow morning to see what time they would be in the area. I explained again that I would not be available until after 2:30 and asked if there was any way to make an appointment time and she said no. So when I asked if there was any guarantee of them coming out tomorrow at all if I did call back in the morning, she rudely stated that no there was not and that it all depended on if they were in the area.

I get them not wanting to zigzag across town, but if you are going to accept only the clients that are in the area you are currently working during a time period, then that is not a great business practice.

If you happen to call at the time they are in your area, then lucky you. If not, you are S.O.L.. I think I will take my business to someone who can actually book a time for me and pay the extra for this little thing called customer service.

I had a tub drain at my rental property that has been a problem for years. I was replacing the tub and the installer told me it wasn't draining.

The wife called a plumber that offered a free camera inspection with the drain clearing. They came out, tried to clear it for about 2 minutes then went on to tell her how we needed to cut the cement and replace the piece were the tub drain connected to the vent pipe for $1500.

I got a recommendation for Baird's from a friend who even warned me the woman answering the phone was a little rough. She is but with the # of calls she's getting, I'm sure I'd be too and prob worse.

Anyway, the guy came out the next afternoon. He tried one snake, then swapped it out and tried another. Within 15 minutes of arriving, the drain was cleared.

Took about 24 hours from the first call till he got there the next day. Well worth the wait!

Back to the first plumber, When my wife asked about the inspection camera and he said he didn't have one on his truck and someone else would have to come out. He then used his cell phone to look in the pipe and said there was a piece of what looked like cement blocking the pipe. I went and purchased an inspection camera for $80 and looked myself. He must have just been getting a reflection because it looked fine except for the blockage where the pipes came together.

Long story short, I got $1500 of stress for $50. ($30 to clear the drain and $20 for a well deserved tip)

Horrible customer service!! They do not own up to mistakes are extremely rude. They blame anyone else but themselves, which to me shows lack of integrity. After initial call to provide a window for service. I confirmed I could be home during that time frame I have to initiate the call after they never called or show up and was then told that they couldn't service because they didn't have the initial information to begin with. ?? Seriously? Then why waste my time and call to give me a time window to begin with? If they did not obtain all the necessary information to begin with that is their fault not anyone elses. To not even offer an apology is lack of customer service. Find a better company to deal with.

Excellent cost effective drain clearing, I've used many times since November 2006. At least once they had heavier duty snakes than our plumber, therefore clearing the drain faster. Scheduling can be spotty--likely a byproduct of the low price. Note it's 20% to 50% more expensive on Saturday, and closed Sunday.

Receptionist is efficient and knowledgeable; some take that as brusque. A high quality, lightweight Bluetooth headset/mic rather than her apparent speakerphone might also make her sound less impersonal.

As someone else noted: If tighter scheduling is important, you can try paying 2 to 5x as much for Bill Howe/full-on plumbers and/or larger support staff.

Called a plumber around 8:30 am the first day after the Christmas holiday RE: clogged drain. We had two bathrooms suffering the effects and weren't sure how bad this was going to be. I knew they might be busy. They quoted time and a half prices and couldn't come until after 5:00 pm that evening. So I called Baird. They'd been recommended to us years ago as a good resource by a retiring plumber. Baird said someone would be there between 10-12 that day. Josh showed up at 9:30 and went straight to work. He had to haul a longer snake to the top of the roof, but he got the drain cleared with a bill of $60. I think he was there less than an hour and he was working hard the entire time. Great job. Baird, and specifically Josh, are our go-to for future drain issues. Really glad we found them.

We had two drains that ran slow, and I mean really slow. A girlfriend said, Call Baird's. I did, and I am so glad that I acted on her referral.

Scheduling was easy, George was on-time the following morning and walked me through the process. Our bathtub drain was clogged with hair, easy fix, and our laundry drain wasn't clogged at all -- he took the time to look at the connector under the laundry sink, cut a piece off and voila, that's all it took.

Called before 6am after toilets started backing up into my shower and left msg-call returned at 7:20am-and was told they could be at my home between 9-11am. Josh showed up at 9:03am and looked over my problem drains. He quoted the price before hand (2 different prices depending on over or under 100 ft) It took about 15 min total for him to clear the drains-Double checked both sinks, toilets and showers/tub before packing up his equipment. I've been using Baird's for about 20 years...older home in San Carlos...roots, old plumbing. You know the drill. We started out calling plumbing companies and I thin in those first years we had 6 or 8 different ones. Including Bill Howe (before the tv ads and an image to uphold--but that is another story)..

Bairds is a drain service, not a plumbing company...unplug drains--it is all they do. When we finally stumbled upon them at a neighbors recommendation, we were delighted with the service, the ridiculously low price and the lengths they would go to work with my ridiculous schedule. One time George Sr. helped my husband dig a trench through my front yard to put a cleanout drain in it! Pick and shovel...no joke. So we had to beg them to increase their prices when it was only $20 because we didn't want to feel like we were stealing.

Mrs. Baird (who runs the office) might seem a bit curt to some--just my personal opinion because we can all hear things differently--she is just busy, busy, busy....that is how they can keep your costs so low...no assistants, no voicemail appointments...etc . Get the information, check the schedule, give you an appointment. Pleasant, but organized and busy! If you want friends, go down to the Humane Society and adopt a furkid!

My shower stall drain was draining slowly. I called them at 9am, and after 45 minutes or so, the lady called me back with an 11:30am apt same day. The techie arrived at 11:15am, had to snake the drain many, many, many times before the hairy clumpy culprit became dislodged, and woohoo!!! it drains so well now!! charged 25 bucks, but well worth it for all the times that he had to snake it.

I've used them before, and it will depend if there is a techie in the area for the response.

This place is a gift! I have used them to unclog different drains at different times and every person they have sent over has been so nice and professional! Sometimes, Baird himself will do the work. Most of the time you can call with an urgent request and they will almost always squeeze in the job-even if it's towards the very end of the day. Once- they couldn't come out as quick as I wanted so I called several other plumbers in the yellow pages and all estimates were at least $100! Baird's is 20 bucks! Can't beat that! Very lucky this business is near my home :)

Read the reviews, be prepared for how it goes, and you can have a plugged drain cleared for $30, no messing around. We've had several different guys come out over the years, and they've all been friendly, considerate, and professional (if a bit run down from working). We've had easy ones like today's, and trickier ones that took an hour, and the drain is cleared. Tip the guys - this isn't a fun job. For the phone side of this, which you can read in the reviews: Just call for a future day, usually tomorrow, be friendly and quick, and she'll hang up when done. Only do one drain; you can't get into telling a story. Then be around all day. They'll call with a time window, then call right before.

Go with Baird's!

We have used Baird's for 4+ years. The company's prices and results puts Baird's in demand, so call volume can be high and scheduling tricky. That said, I understand why Carol is to the point. She is trying to coordinate several plumbers, working jobs with unknown time requirements, with numerous clients all over San Diego.

Overall, she has done well scheduling my jobs and letting me know when the plumber would arrive. If I do not hear back from her, then I call and she checks with the plumber and calls me back with an update. I have called and had pleasant, but short, conversations with her.

Jess, Jamie, and George are the most tenacious, hard working and honest plumbers I have dealt with. After years of back ups, which Baird's always cleared, we finally decided to have Baird's put a camera down the drain. Jess worked over three hours trying to clear the drain well enough to put the camera in so he could see what the problem was. He went from the clean out at the back of the house and tried from the sewer access on the driveway. He had a dental appt he had to go to but said he would talk to George about the drain saying George would probably come out the following day to try clearing it. The next morning George AND Jess showed up. Between George's years of experience and Jess's brawn, they finally got the drain cleared enough to get a good look at the problem - a huge, rubber test balloon that the remodel plumber had left in the pipe. George and Jess used the big snake with different attachments and were able to cut the balloon up enough to snag it and pull it out - it took both of them pulling to remove it. Two days, two plumbers and the total was only $125 (over 5 hours of work). SO REASONABLE! I ALWAYS TIP THEM - they work so hard for the amount they charge.

Baird did exactly what they said they would do. I was given a 2-hour window, and they were at my door within the first hour, and they had the drain cleared within 15 minutes of arrival.

They cleared my kitchen sink drain and even told me that it is usually caused by the garbage disposal, and that it is important that only small stuff goes in the disposal, and big stuff should go in the trash. So now I know how to prevent it too! I will definitely use then again!

The receipt they gave me does not have any company info on it. Their card says all work guaranteed though. But it makes me wonder if they are legitimate.

I can understand why other people had complaints about the woman who answered the phone, because she definitely sounded terse. She wasn't rude to me, but I definitely didn't feel like she was happy to hear from me. She took my information, then told me she would call back in a few minutes to let me know when they would be available. Less than 10 minutes later she called and informed me they had a guy in my area already at a job, and he would be by after he finished that one. Thirty minutes later Josh arrived. He was very professional, very friendly, and even offered some advice on how to avoid having my laundry room flood again. Ten minutes later my drain is open and I'm extremely satisfied with his service.

I only gave them 4 stars because they could work on their customer service when it comes to handling customer calls, but the actual worker and service were great. Five stars to Josh, and I would definitely use them again.

This place is a whole can of worms. I called due to a clogged kitchen drain on a weekend. when the guy got here he said he had to take the drain apart instead of just snaking it like I'm used to them doing (really old plumbing!). So we removed everything from under the sink and he grumbled and complained about the pipes being plastic and glued together and then suddenly there was a problem and a pipe was broken. He said it wad already broken but he could replace it the whole set of pipes but I wanted to verify that with my management company and he blew up! Started cursing that I wasn't the owner of the house and that his office person was supposed to make sure I was indeed the owner and called her up on his radio and they yelled at each other and long story short he left me with a bucket under the sink catching water when I had to run water in the the sink until the next day when our management company sent their guy to check it out. He replaced the pipes in less than 10 minutes with no fits or fuss or bother. Bottom line is I won't ever use these people again.

If you are not in a hurry, then this company will work just fine. I called late Sunday afternoon (assuming they would not be open, which was true) so left a message to call regarding a clogged kitchen drain. They called at 7:00 a.m. on Monday and told me then would call be back between 9:30 and 10:30 to let me know what time I could explain their rep. That didn't happen, I called them. Was then told it was looking iffy and may be Tuesday. Tuesday came and no phone call, so I called them and got the standard answer, that they would call back between 9:30 and 10:30 on timing. Again, no phone call. So I called again. Was told they were short handed and would try for the afternoon. Still no call, so I called again and now am being told it will be tomorrow which is Wednesay. So all those reviews about them coming out fast....I have never experienced. The cost of $25 is the only thing making me hang in there.

My father works for a pretty big plumbing supply store in San Diego and recommended them when my grandmother's drain clogged. After getting the busy signal several times a woman answered, I told her the situation and she told me the earliest they'd be able to come out was the next morning. Great, I expected that, no problem. The next morning we didn't get a call or anything, finally around 10:30-11:00 we call and the woman treated me like we had never talked and said they'd have some out between 1-3pm.
Around 2:45pm two young guys pull up in an unmarked white truck and get out, I assume they're the plumbers. They try using their snake on the drain through the sink itself then go through the washout behind the sink but have no luck. They say they don't have the right tool and leave. That's the last we hear from them. We didn't know if they were coming back the same day or the next morning, no communication. The next morning we call them to see when they'll be back out to FINISH the job they started.The same woman answered and once again treated me like a customer she had never talked to.
I asked when they'd be back to finish and she told me she would have to check and see if someone could come out that day. You would think a job they came out and started and hadn't gotten paid for yet would be a priority but apparently not. I told her to cancel the job and instead of trying to keep it or apologizing she said ok and hung up.
So due to their ineptitude not only did they lose this customer and will not be getting paid but they lost all the referrals my father and his company regularly gives out.

Their price is unbeatable, they do their job well, but they didn't get the 5-er because customer service is subpar. I've used them about six times on our properties and they always come out the next day at the latest. Heck... I'll go for paying $20 for subpar customer service than $105 for great service like the other company I called.

I have used this service for years and found it satisfactory, in spite of the grouchy receptionist (it's the owner's wife I suspect). This time I called Monday morning and was told that they were very busy (the Monday after Thanksgiving) and I said I can wait until Tuesday. Calling again on Tuesday, I had to wait for her to call back and tell me the technician would be out between 2:30-4:30. No show and no call.

Wed. morning, again a call to Baird's. Oh,he didn't show up? No apology. When I asked why he didn't call, she said he didn't have your number and I left early. What technician drives around without the customer's phone number? Again she said, I'll call you between 9-10. No call. Finally called at 10:40 at which time I told her there was someone already on route from another provider.

Our rental needs the front drain snaked a few times a year to prevent the tree roots to cause issues. We were asked by our landlord to use Baird's because they are good and the cheapest in town. $40 on the weekday and $50 on the weekend.
Cheap and good is correct. I work in customer services so would say that the receptionist is very direct, but talks to you on a speaker phone, and it a little abrassive. I am ok with that communication style because I can be the same way at time, but at least be sure to be thorough when speaking to your customers. There is a difference between being direct and being short with you. I am glad they are busy; it's a testament to the service they provide; however, be sure you give your customer all the information they need before hanging up without a goodbye.
They came to the house while our son was there (working during the week but didn't want to pay the additional money to do it on the weekend, which is busy with baseball, etc anyway). They do not accept credit cards so he had cash for them. We did not receive a receipt so had to call back and ask for one. They were only able to fax or mail it to us (email invoice not an option).
4 stars for their price and handy work. Would have been 5 stars if the customer service on the phone was a bit better.

My family has been using Baird's for a long time now... older houses with older pipes equals occasional drain issues.
The price can't be beat and they always show up within the given time frame. They work quickly and are friendly with helpful tips.
Just called them this morning after trying to resolve the plumbing issues on our own with not much success. Was given a time frame between 10 and 12...they came out and had corrected the issue before 10:45am.

Same day service for blocked toilet from main line obstruction. Jesse was professional, friendly and efficiently diagnosed the problem. He went on roof, used his cable and located and cleared obstruction within minutes. He also gave specific useful advice to avoid recurrence. Work was guaranteed for 30 days. I would not use anyone else after this experience with Baird Drain. The price was also very reasonable.

I am only giving this a 1 because of the receptionist. She does not call back in a timely manner, rude, and unprofessional. I have called a total of 6 times in 2 days. The gentlemen that came out was very nice and knowledgeable, though he had to have someone else do what needed to be done, he left saying that if I don't hear from the receptionist within 20 mins that I should call back, so an hour went by and nothing, she was not even planning on calling, nor did she know who it was that was calling when I gave her my name and situation of the past few days, she needs costumer service training, organizational skills, and new attitude. This was to be costumer is looking at another company, and at this point I don't care if I spend double and it is sad knowing that it is only because of the receptionist.

Baird's was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. I called early this morning, explained the situation, and was able to set up an appointment that same morning. Like clockwork, Jess arrived as expected several minutes after the office called to let me know help was on the way. After introducing himself, Jess quickly diagnosed the problem and resolved the issue, all while keeping me informed throughout the process. I had a clogged shower, which I was unable to clear with my own snake. I had previously used (and reviewed) Zeller Drain Cleaning and when I called them, the voicemail referred me to Baird. I called around 11:30 AM and the woman who answered took my info, said she'd check his schedule and call me back. I didn't receive a return call, so around 1:20 I called Option One Plumbing And Rooter who said I could expect someone between 3:00 and 5:00 and that the plumber would call when he was on his way. At about 4:30, a guy in a pickup shows up. I show him to the clogged shower and he runs his hand-drill powered snake down, with no success (just as I had done). Before leaving, he said he'd call the office and have them send the guy with the bigger snake to come over and go up on the roof to clear the main line via the roof vent, since I have no main cleanout. Moments after he left, the Option One guy called, saying he was 15 minutes away. Shortly after, the lady from Baird called, saying that the tech with the bigger snake would not be able to come by that day, but she'd call me at 9:00AM tomorrow. Meanwhile, Option One showed up, came in with a hand-drill snake, looked at the clogged tub, and after discussing it with me, correctly concluded that it was the mainline, so he informed me that the cost would be more, since it involved going on the roof. I was fine with that, since I knew most major plumbing companies simply won't do that anymore. He got out the big rig, went on the roof and got it cleared. $99....I'm fine with that.

Baird called me around 10:30 (I missed the call because I was in my now-working shower) the next day and I told them never mind.

Poor communication = lost business.

Our landlord insists that we use this company, probably because it looks like they are cheaper than the others. Upon having our kitchen sink back up into the shower, we called and were delayed two days. The receptionist was difficult to deal with and kept giving us these large time frames that the plumber would come, and they never came. Finally he came and took care of the problem in 15 minutes. When we asked how we could prevent this from occuring in the future, he just shrugged and said that it was soap scum build up and it probably just hadn't been snaked in a long time. Not two months later the same problem resurfaced. Called the landlord on Monday, landlord called plumber on Monday, it's now Wednesday and I'm still waiting...

Bottom line: if i were paying for it, then maybe i'd be a little more flexible with their poor customer service since it's cheap. but with the landlord paying for it, i expect good service within 24 hours.

YES, you work on their schedule. But $20.00 to snake a drain...YOU CANNOT BEAT THAT.

Take a day off if you need and can.....but they will be there.

I called them to ask for an appointment. I was told I would get a call the next day. The next day came, I got the call. I told them what time I would be home. They came around the time they said they would (between A and B times).

Guy comes, snakes my sink and bathtub and in a matter of 20 min he made an easy $20.00

If you are patient, and are ONLY expecting them to snake your drains...that's what they will do.

If you want a scheduled time, and more plumbing services you got the wrong company. All they do is snake snake snake......hence the Drain cleaning name of the company.

Do yourself a favor, $20.00 is cheaper than $80 or more for a plumber who will do exactly the same. JUST BE PATIENT.

What if I told you that I'd pay you $80 just to wait a bit longer for your plumber to come unclog your drain?

That's basically the deal that Baird's is offering you. You are welcome to call another company, have them arrive at a set time, and then shell out $100.

OR...you can pocket the $80 and spend the day doing your laundry, watching TV, surfing the internet, or gardening, and just wait for Baird's services whenever they show up.

Also, throw your plumber-men a bone and offer a tip. Even if you can't afford much...these guys live on tips, and they're just regular people like you and I. Next time you call, they might just show up quicker.

I've had a slow drain for better part of a month in my 50+ year old home; it finally stopped dead last night around 8:30pm. I have long hair and I've clogged many drains in my day. Beyond that, I work at a grooming salon (dogs/cats) and clearing basic clogs is simply part of the job. I have children who are oh-so-fond of shoving anything small enough down there, as well. So, suffice to say, when my sinks or tubs back up I don't just wring my hands and prance from foot to foot wondering what to do. I roll up my sleeves and dive in, whole-hog, to clear it. I plunged and snaked the drain (with a snake attachment on a power drill) myself and found that I'd invented a new game: urban geocaching for the modern mom. I found a hair clip, a squinkie, a plastic puzzle piece, a pair of barbie shoes, a poker chip, a shard of glass, and a polly pocket rubber jacket. Yet still; my drain was clogged. After three hours of plunging, blisters on both palms and a bruise the size of Nebraska on my shin from whacking it on the spigot, I called uncle, went to bed, and stewed for the next 9 hours.

On the advice of my mother I called Baird's Drain Service. Begrudgingly, to be honest, because I'm adamant that I can do anything on my own. I called at around 9:30am and the receptionist/dispatcher/whatever was brusque but not at all rude - just efficient and to-the-point. She quoted me a time between 11:30 and 1:30 and said she'd call me when he was in my area, about 30 minutes prior to the plumber's arrival. True to word, she called me around 12:45 and Travis was here by 1:05. He was friendly, chatty, not at all skeevy, and had an excellent sense of humor. He gave me tips on how to help my older drain run more efficiently, cleared my clog, and left by 1:30. A check for $20 and no humiliating comments about the toy paraphernalia in the drain; I'm a happy girl - my kids can take a bath again.

Here is the story; if you are gainfully employed, Baird's Drain Service is not your best bet. Being on time, returning calls and fixing your drain is not part of the family credo. Cheap, absolutely. Quality service, debatable. After scheduling with them three different times to properly clear a drain and never receiving a call back when promised, I called a real plumber and had the problem, fixed. For twice as much, but promptly and correctly.

Baird's Drain Cleaning is the best. George Baird is incredibly honest and really wants to help people without over-charging. If you have to wait until the next day, it's because they are so busy with clients who trust him. He's a rare gem in the business. As a native San Diegan, I feel he is the best and most reputable in this line of work. A lot of his guys have worked for him for many years. I called him out last week and he fixed my problem in the basement AND as an added bonus, unclogged my garbage disposal. He's a very cool guy. We use his services at the non-profit where I work and they are in and out and only charge $35 for our business location. With our clients at work, there are many problems in the toilets. We always count on Baird's.

I had an incredible experience here. I read some of these reviews, and my experience was different from a few. This has been the most inexpensive and efficient drain service I have ever used. Some things to keep in mind: 1) There is not really any hand holding as far as the customer service goes. I did find it quick and efficient, but there is no room to talk at length about your plumbing-related dramas, and the impact this is having on your life in general. The customer service is direct and to the point. How many drains are clogged? Where are you located? That is it. You will receive a call back with some timeframes and you are on your way to having your drain(s) cleared, and moving on with your life, which brings me to my next point. 2) All they do are drains. They do not give plumbing advice, fix your shower head or replace handles on your tub. They keep it simple, and this keeps the price down. As an added note, when the only service you provide is drain clearing, there is no opportunity create or find additional problems that result in an additional charges (please see ridiculously inexpensive, below) And finally 3) My technician worked tirelessly to unclog the drains in my bathroom, was completely successful, and I have not had a problem since. If I did have a problem with any of the other drains in my house, I would call them right away. If that problem happened on a weekday instead of a weekend, it would be even less expensive, which is ridiculous, because the weekend rates are already approaching we wound our prices back to the 1940's menu status. Or at least what I remember of the 1970's. Obviously I tipped well. A very strong recommendation for a very specific service.

Anytime something goes wrong call them, and BAM they come. Drains clogged last night they were here this afternoon! Been using Baird's for a few years now. George and his son are great! They have helped me every time. But, there is no excuse for the rudeness of the woman who answers the phone. She's been rude all these years. Not abrupt because she answers so many calls, and not straight to the point; rude! It's apparent she doesn't care if someone gets to your house or not. I really can't imagine why they allow her to answer the phone. Family run company? I get that. But there has to be someone else who isn't so brash on the phone. Or, send her to customer service training classes to learn how to deal with and assist customers.

George came on time, and he fixed the drain right away. We had a problem with our toilet not flushing. His rate was so reasonable. We got quote from some other cleaning company that was 3 times as expensive as George charged for us. My husband and I were so pleased how professional he was. He gave us really good advice what to do what not to do as well. He won't BS. After 3 months, our toilet flushes great. I highly recommend Geroge!

Can't use any more. Used to be reliable, but no longer. When I called in Oct I was told they'd be there within the hour. Call back said they had left the area and the lady would call back in next couple hours with a time. Never heard anything so called back.... can't come until tomorrow. With main line backed up and not clearing even for a quick shower, had to call someone else, who did come within the hour. Another back-up New Years Day. Knew they would be answering, but recorded message said they were back on job Friday and to leave message. Did so, no call back. Called another plumber who came out within the hour. Bairds is cheap and will get the job done, but better have a back-up plan.

My elderly mother is not good with computers, so she asked me to help her post this review. She's been using Baird's for many years because they were dependable and their prices were reasonable. That changed recently when she called them to unclog a plugged drain affecting a bathroom toilet and bathtub. She was quoted a price of $25.00, which was what she expected, but ended up being charged $90.00.
When the workmen arrived she noticed that they placed a ladder against her house before they rang the doorbell, (which she thought was unusual). They did their work and then presented her with a bill of $90.00. After her initial shock, she asked them why it was so high this time. She was told it was because of holiday rates. Keep in mind that this was early afternoon on the day before New Years Eve which, the last time I checked, is NOT a holiday. She paid them and, the next day, called Baird's to get a better explanation. The woman she talked to said that the higher charge was because the workmen had to get on the roof to clear the drain through the vent. My mom explained that they never had to get on the roof before and that she thught it was odd that they put up the ladder BEFORE they had come into the house to check out the problem. Sometime during their conversation the woman hung up on her!
Needless to say, my mom will not be using Baird's in the future. It's sad when a previously reputable business begins to treat it's loyal customers so badly. If they intend to change $90.00 to clear a drain then quote it up front so customers can make an informed decision to use them or go to a competitor. This bait-and-swiitch tactic is as contemptible as preying on the elderly.

The worst experience I've had with a plumbing service. The dispatcher/customer service lady is by far the most rudest I've ever talked to. First she calls me at 10:45 asks if someone can come by between 11:30-1:30, why yes or course I'm available. She then proceeds to tell me that I need to have money up front or the job won't be done. Explainable, however, I'm the tenant not the account holder. You would think that if my landlord had gave this lady my number to call then wouldn't that dispatcher assume the landlord, who, by the way, has an account with this company would also be paying for this. And shouldn't that be something you would discuss with the landlord NOT the tenant. I then explain that I am the tenant and she states she doesn't care it doesn't matter as long as they get paid or no one is coming to my house. I have to then call the landlord who then calls the company. Oh and by the way that's another great thing about the company. The phone just rings and rings and rings, it's like she's sitting there watching TV waiting for a commercial break or something. Finally after 30 minutes of me AND my landlord repeatedly calling her to give the authorization she then calls me and explains that no one can come until tomorrow. What kind of company makes a commitment and knows that there are every intentions of getting this job done and within 30 minutes books that spot. The dispatcher had no concern or compassion about the customer and when I explained I was gong to write a review about my services with this company on Yelp then she stated Good Luck with that and hung up on my again.

Baird is the BOMB! This is the second time I have used them and yes you have to wait for them to come to your rescue but they will be there. I don't think they have a whole lot of people working for them so ya have to wait for them to make their rounds. When they're in your neck of the woods, they call to ask if you're available. Answer the call and they are there.
I spent two days trying to fix (snake) my drain. Got some of the hair and gunk out but I pushed more of it down the vertical pipe in between both bathroom sinks. This is a very difficult spot to get a clog because you can't unclog it from the vent pipe on the roof and it would be a real pain in the ass to snake it from the clean out (front or back yard).
I threw in the towel and called Baird. The owner's son (Nick) made it out, snaked one of the bathroom sinks and within 5 minutes no more clog! I had to pay an additional $10 because of the area the clog was in but all in all $30 well spent!!!!! I would do it again in a heart beat.

I will gladly wait one or two days for such affordable service. I understand that not everyone has a simple problem with their plumbing but ours always clogs and all we need is for it to be cleared. We don't need big plumbing companies coming to charge us hundreds of dollars to unclog. It's a chronic problem in this house. Bairds drain service is not the quickest to arrive all the time but once they get here it's a no nonsense, efficient service.

I have been using Baird's Drain Cleaning ever since I bought my house 12 years ago. Got the recommendation from a neighbor, and am so glad I did! Their results are outstanding, and their prices are incredibly affordable. I love being able to use a local small business and know that I am receiving superior quality service. Their receptionist Carol is no-nonsense, but I don't mind at all - and that's coming from a very chatty native Californian! She gets the information she needs and that's that. She not unfriendly, she's just very efficient! I have older cast iron pipes, and they keep everything flowing!

Not dependable. I called with an emergent drainage issue. They said someone would come out the next day and they would call me in the morning with an appointment time. They never called so I called them. A guy came out in the late afternoon and said he didn't have the right equipment so they would have to send out another guy to do the job. He was suppose to show up between 4-5 pm. The guy never showed. By the time I called the company to inform them of the no show they were closed. I ended up having to call an emergency plumber with a different company to come out after hours, which costs me triple the price. I was very upset that I was stood up without even a phone call. Very poor customer service.

I called this company Monday morning, they said they would call me back to schedule. Called late that afternoon when they hadn't called, and scheduler rather testily told me that she had the number down wrong, and couldn't get anyone out that day. As this company had been recommended by my landlord, I scheduled for the next day.

The technician showed in the time frame arranged (2 minutes before end of that time frame), couldn't perform the service because his longer snake broke earlier that day, but said he'd have someone else come out.

Called later that afternoon when I hadn't heard from them, the scheduler had info from the technician so he'd reported back, but no action had apparently been taken to get anyone else out, and the scheduler flatly refused to answer the direct question about whether they had our would have taken action to get someone else out. She only answered that they could 'schedule someone for the next day' again and again in answer to questions until I finally just had to hang up.

Landlord called them later, and they were much more polite and responsive to her. Told her a different story than they told me though, which was more complete and probably correct, so unless you have a relationship with them, don't bother calling this company.

I gave them 2 stars, since the technician who came out was on time (though barely), courteous, and seemed to be trying. The pricing for limited things they can do is also reasonable. The office staff gets a '0' stars from me though, as they seem to be getting from several others too...

Getting no where with the other company, I called Baird's to get to the bottom of my drain problems. Along comes Spencer and his partner and in less than an hour my drains were cleared! They used a camera to check on the alleged broken pipe and found no broken or leaking pipes. They were super courteous, efficient and truly inexpensive. I won't call anyone else in the future even if I have to wait till Monday!

I've always been a fan of Baird, and I will use them again. I would give them 5 stars, but on my last call, their follow through wasn't great. They never came back to finish the work so we did it ourselves. For drain cleaning though, they are wonderful, reasonable and quick (except for Sundays) I'm glad they're around. You don't have to go broke to clean a clogged drain.

These guys rock. I can't say enough good things about them. I have called them twice. They have unclogged 4 drains total. None of the drains they have unclogged has ever clogged again. Another zero star rating from us!

Well, we learned the hard way. Baird isn't a company with employees; it seems to be a receptionist who operates a referral system for people who want to get their drains cleaned cheaply. So, you might be lucky and get someone who knows how to do it (highly unlikely you'll get a trained plumber), or you might have our experience and get Nick who clearly can't handle anything but the simplest of drains.

When Nick figured out that he couldn't handle it, he pressed hard to get paid and then pushed us to hire his friend to do this very complicated job. I can only guess his friend gets paid a referral fee from him--kind of a Ponzi scheme of referrals. Anyway we got nothing from Nick's work, and when we tried to get recourse through Baird after we had hired a real plumber who fixed it in minutes, we were merely told that the receptionist would let Nick know we weren't pleased. Some consolation, when he already had our money. Of course, he never called.

We should have figured out from the reviews that were either wildly enthusiastic or very negative that something strange was going on here. So ask carefully about who they are sending. And if it is Nick, decline and try calling later when someone else might be assigned!

I called their office and asked if they could send someone to one of my tenants. The gave me an ETA of about 1.5 hrs. and that the tech would call me when he was on his way so I could meet and pay them. I called my tenant and told them someone was on their way. After about 1 hour I called my tenant and asked if someone had called. She said they came in, cleared the drain, and left, and that they will figure payment back at the office.

Huh???

The office called me half hour later and said they would send a bill since I no longer have a fax machine.

I have used them for a number of years now on our home and on our rental properties. Nothing fancy, they just show up and fix clogged drains. In fact I hesitate to give a glowing review because I'd rather keep them as a private and affordable solution but they deserve to be busy,
I have 2 recent experiences:
First, a few weeks ago we had a nasty clog on a tenant kitchen drain (they greased it up good and it backed right out the access line in the yard...) When the original responder realized he didn't have the big gun we needed, he called it in and went on to clear up a couple of slow drains in the bathrooms. When the big tool arrived (same day) the clogged was removed and we've been good ever since.
Second was today; the tenant clogged the disposal drain last night and Baird's had it cleared by 3pm. Now THAT is service.

There cheap , but I've always said you get what you pay for. In this case you get shi#@y service. They don't call you back and they cant set up a service time to save someone's life. If they do set up a time it wouldn't matter because no one would so up. Don't waist your time calling them !!!!!!!!

We must have been using this company for 20 years. They are simply perfect! A family run business, honest, efficient, courteous, and clean. The mom calls early and schedules appointments...usually the same day. People call before arriving, are friendly and efficient and if there is the same problem within the month they return for free. They are incredibly inexpensive! $20 each visit! Just had a drain problem that required 20-30 minutes, including snaking a drain from the roof clear to the main sewer line. The fee: $20!

Great service at a very low price compared to the competition.
I have used them for many years and they can usually fix a drain problem.
They do not charge if they cannot fix it.
You do have to wait a day sometimes but if you can the savings are well worth it. They normally charge $45 -$65 to clear a drain.

Yes, the lady who answers the phone when you call is a little brusk, not rude, exactly...but to-the-point and getting her job done. Who cares. I'll use these guys time and again. There is never any follow up. You call and try to get an update and they just give a random time, without talking to anyone. When they showed up they could not do it because they did not have the right tools. There would be someone there the next morning. No one came and I called and called and no one answered. Called another company and they were there in 2 hours as promised. Baird's is only for the jobs that the clog is within a couple of feet of the drain. There are companies out there that cost maybe $10 more but it is worth it.

Wish I can give this business a whooping -5 stars! The guy that came out and fix the problem with my sink was great! Very fast and has a great attitude. But the RUDE LADY who answers the phone is the most disrespectful B^#*# I'd ever dealt with! AND GUESS WHAT?! She is the owner! WHAT A SHAME! The owner herself treats customers so rude! I hope this business goes bankrupt or something! I didn't have any choice because my landlord chose to deal with this company, so I was expecting the service yesterday (Monday) and this B%#*^ called me around 4:45 and told me they got all booked up and that they won't make it until tomorrow.. So i didn't make a big deal out of it yet (no apologies, nothing whatsoever. Matter of fact she has a condescending tone because I kept asking of what happened why they can't make it, and I was really expecting them that day, and what time I should expect them the next day) so she said, tomorrow early AM. That early AM was today, I called at 9 AM to ask for ETA. She said (with a rude condescending tone once again) no eta but it will be sometime in the afternoon, so I'm like fine whatever I already waited obviously there's pretty much nothing I can do. She called me at 11:30 am and told me the guy will be at my apartment 1:30-2:30, it was 2:30 and the guy isn't there. So I called AGAIN and guess what? She said that she never told me 2:30 it was 3:30! Haha! Wow not just this B#%^* is a rude piece of S*^# she's also a liar.. I wasn't gonna go off, but the way she's been giving me attitude since yesterday, doesn't even know how to apologize for the inconvenience, instead she has the audacity to be all rude on the phone sitting behind her desk probably living such a miserable life not getting laid. I finally called her out and told her how rude she was and that learn about customer service! Like I said the guys are cool and really good, but the owner (specifically this rude b#%^ answering phone) forget about it! Go elsewhere... Somewhere where they will treat customers the right way...

Their business card says all work guaranteed. But they came to my apt. made a minor problem into a major problem. And now are washing their hands of it. They came to unclog the tub, which the guy did fine. But I asked him to also look at a slow drain in the kitchen. It was functioning but draining real slow. Why not have it fixed? The guy tried for a while then said another guy would have to come out. Meanwhile he turned a slow drain into a backed up nasty cesspool. I could cook and clean dishes before he arrived. No it's a disgusting mess. And it's Tues before Thanksgiving. He left me hanging all day. When I called back, the rude lady knew nothing of what I was talking about. Rudely, she said nobody else at her company could help me. When I explained that the guy caused the problem, that it was working before he messed it up, she just stayed silent, finally telling me to call someone else. I have called back twice more to no avail. She is rude every time. Do not risk this dangerously negligent company. They left me hanging Tuesday before Thanksgiving. A responsible company that claims to guarantee work would find a way to make it right.

This company is great! My in laws have used them for years and I just discovered that a woman at work has too. I've had them come out 5-6 times and they were wonderful! The woman on the phone has been very nice, they have come quickly most of the time, sometimes is has taken a little longer but that's what happens when people have plumbing emergencies. I have used Baird's drain cleaning for at least 30 years. It is tops in my book. George is a professional who is honest, caring, and most of all, always knows what the problem is and how to solve it, fast. He gives prevention tips too. The price has always been extremely reasonable. I should also say that the whole neighborhood uses him! I have personally never had a problem with the dispatcher, but I do know they are very very busy. However, they always come out within a very short period of time, same day or next day, usually. I trust George and his workers completely, with thirty years of using them at multiple homes.

Love George Baird. Today George was unavailable so they sent Spencer. What a HORRIBLE experience! He left my shower filled with still black water and even got upset at me because he said his hose broke. He demanded his $70 and said he was here to do me a favor. What?!? A favor? You gotta call Baird's drain cleaning for your draining, clogging, etc needs. The first handy man I called tried to detect and resolve with rudimentary tools, and could not fix the problem! Immediately, I called Baird's and next day they were at my house with the right tools and fixed the issue in 15 mins. Its service area is all of San Diego. Baird's has been around for at least 10 years. Many homeowners and apartment managers swear by Baird's prices, service, and dependability. I am one of them. There are special techniques to running drain cleaning snakes and these guys have it. They are experienced and have all the necessary tools to get the job done right and fast. You will be pleasantly surprised by their estimates. Ask about getting 2 or more drains cleaned during one visit as the cost per drain goes down. These guys are good! I last used Baird's in my house in September 2008.

Like others said, the lady on the phone is curt and just this side of rude. I was told by her that they would come out yesterday and they didn't. Today I someone named Neil came and he was perfection. He was so neat and clean and left everything just like it was when he arrived. He pulled a lot of stuff out of the drain and the blockage is solved. Too bad you have to go through that phone person. Despite her, I highly recommend these guys. Anderson Plumbing quoted me $469 for what these guys charged me $50!!!!! Unbelievable.

I have used these guys twice and both times they were great. The last time was a back up in the washer/kitchen. I am sure they get tons of calls (the receptionist seems a bit frazzled) and you may have to wait awhile for them to come out I called 7am and he came out at 5. But the guy was really nice and had to spend a a couple of hours to clear the drains. They do a great job!

I have used this business several times in the past, and they have always been reliable and done a good job. So when my kitchen sink stopped up, I called them on a Friday. I know the routine - leave a message and they will call back early the next day to schedule an appointment. She called at 7:30 am, got my information, and said she would call back between 8-9 am. At 9:15 I called her back, and she said she still didn't have a man to come out to my house but she would call me when she did. I had to go to work so I told her to call the same number, talk to my husband, and set up a time. I assumed my sink would be fixed when I got home, but they had not even called my husband. So at 4:15 pm I called them and got an answering machine. I called again at 5 pm and at 6:15 pm with no return call. I told them that I had a big party to cook for on Saturday and needed my sink unstopped. I can't believe the rude lady (yes, she is always short and rude on the phone) didn't even call back on Friday to say one way or another if a repair man was coming. I will NEVER call them again.

I called Nov. 10, 2013 Tuesday am and was told someone would come out the next day Wednesday between 12:00 & 2:00. Took the day off from work and waited, and waited, and waited...2:30 I called and got the same woman (not customer friendly), she again asked for my address and said she would call the tech and call me back. Obviously no one ever called back. I then called again at 4:00 and got a voicemail, left a message, no return call. This morning, Thursday, you would think they would at least call me back this morning, but No. Either they don't check their messages, or just plain don't care about customer service. I called at 9:00am, and the same drone woman answered, asking again for my info, which I gave, and she acted like she never knew anything about it. Then after refreshing her memory, she came up with the answer I called you back but no one answered, which is a total fabrication, I was home all day, waiting for them to show up. I told her this, and then she said that my answering machine was full and she couldn't leave a message...odd since I don't have an answering machine nor a voicemail on my landline. Then she said that the tech already left my area today, and possibly they could come out tomorrow, Friday. I said I wouldn't be home, then she said maybe next Monday. I said I didn't know if I'd be able to miss work again and be available to wait all day, especially with no guarantee of anyone showing up. I asked her what happened yesterday with the no show, and she just said I don't know, I haven't talked to him.
All I can say is what a horrible way to conduct a business. Perhaps they have enough clientele and clogged drains to keep them in business, but from other reviews I've read, if they keep up their inconsiderate business practices, I hope customers take note. Word of mouth goes a long way. For the people that gave them more than 1 star, I suppose you were the homes where they actually showed up. If I could give zero stars, I definitely would.

Unfortunately I cannot honestly review Baird's Drain Cleaning because the mother who answers the phone was rude and actually hung up on me! Baird's was recommended to me by a couple landlords. If you are a landlord and are looking for a cheap drain cleaning service and your tenets will will be available all day and evening, you probably can't get a cheaper service. If you are a customer looking for customer service, you'll have a hard time getting past the woman who answers the phone and schedules the appointments. While the price point and work of the crew is keeping this business alive and thriving, the woman answering the phone is killing it. They might do better to can her and find someone with a bit more people skills to schedule for them. Because of her I wasted half the day before calling another service that would work with me. I gladly paid twice the price for a service that was courteous and accommodating. What is your time and aggravation worth to you? The difference between $35.00 and $50.00? I'd rather give my $$ to someone who respects me as a customer!

Not sure what the man below is talking about when he says the receptionist is nice. she was extremely rude. maybe not so much to men but was definatly terribly rude to my girlfriend. i called on sunday when they were closed left a message. she called me back monday morning which was good. then she said oh im sorry we have no1 in your area today which is strange but i accepted it.. then came along the next day i was busy at work so my girlfriend went ahead and handled it. when she called the receptionist was rude off the back. the receptionist said there will be a plummer in the area from 12-2. my girlfreind replied to her that that wouldnt work out and if it was possible to get anything later. she said straight out with a rude voice no. not sorry no one will be in the area maybe we can work outanother time, just a plan mean no. so my girl said ok will there be a chance we can get one anytime tomorrow we will be available all day. she said ill give u a call tomorrow very rudly and straight hung up on her. wow is this there idea of customer service???????? if it is i have no idea how they are still in business. i guess its only to the fact that they are cheap and i see why now. along with cheap prices comes cheap customer service. there are a million plummers out there and customer service is one of the only things that can make you stand out from others and keep people comming back and reccomending. if i was the owner of this business i would quickly give her a check in attitude because it is costing you money.

We use them for our rentals, personal home and have used them at work. I've never found them to be rude. They are professional, honest and polite. I had a clogged kitchen drain on a Sunday morning. I thought that some drain-o-type stuff would work so I let it sit while I ran errands but that did not work. I tried to snake it myself, but that did not work. On Monday, at work, I told my sob story and someone overheard me who referred me to call. I was able to get same-day-service and they called me from their last stop so that I could meet them during my lunch hour. Their price was less than half as much as a plumber wanted - it was a win-win!

I live in a little house with old plumbing and they have been a lifesaver to me. As a senior on limited income, I am especially grateful for their affordable service. Reviews seem to be all over the place for these guys, but both of my experiences with them have been fantastic. Very cheap--no $90 1 hour minimum service calls here. I had Nick come out right away a few years ago. This time it was Dustin. Both were very quick and even took the time to explain routine maintenance to prevent further issues. The woman who took my call was also very easy to deal with and got back to me right away. From first call to completion of service was about 2 hours and cost $20.

Fortunately, I didn't receive bad customer service like the others. I called Baird's Drain Cleaning at the recommendation of my plumber who was unable to clear my clogged drain (that was affecting my back-to-back tubs.) The receptionist did said that she would have to check his schedule and get back to me, which she did promptly. Nick Baird came out that same day in the time frame provided and was able to clear the drain quickly. He was friendly and charged me $30 as it was back-to-back drain (instead of $20.) Hopefully there isn't a next time, but if there is I will definitely call them.

I have used Baird's about 5 times. My house is cute but old, hence old pipes. After get-togethers it seems the plumbing gets a little overwhelmed and slows down or stops up. Receptionist has always been curteous to me, and like others have said, straight and to the point. They guys are always sweet and provide speedy service. Very honest and inexpensive. Baird's will usually provide service within the day called. They are cheap, knowledgeable, and helpful. I have used them for more than 20 years. I had a backed up sewer more than 100 feet long, which would have cost about $40 for Baird's to clean. Unfortunately, I missed their technician and they could not come again until the next day. Since I had house guests, I hired some other company at the top of the listings on the web -big mistake.

These guys are great. I first had Anderson Plumbing come out and after an hour, the guy couldn't fix my drains, made a mess and charged me $42. A few different co-workers of mine recommend Baird's. I was hesitant to use them because BBB didn't rate them well at all. But there was only 1 complaint posted on the BBB website, out of all the thousands of drains they do each year. And the reviews were overwhelmingly positive on this website. So I decided to try them and was pleased. Be aware that this is a mom-and-pop shop, so I didn't expect the trappings of a more expensive company. Their son happened to be working in my neighborhood when I called and he was at my place within the hour. He was clean cut, knowledgeable, and did a good job. My job was a simple routing of the line from my washing machine, so it was very easy. I would use them again for a simple job like this.

I really don't know what to say, My Family and I owned an Maytag appliance repair business for 30 years and recomended them anytime a customer needed repair, but the George Drain cleaning we knew and the one now seems totally different. My whole family has tried to use them in the past 5 years and came away saying they would never use them again. Now I'm with them. I called a few months ago to clean a slow drain in the kitchen. It wasn't stopped up but slow. When I spoke to the woman on the phone she wasn't rude, I think short is the word. I asked for a time after noon. She informed me that my area was am only no exceptions. That was impossible for us so didn't schedule a call, which she seemed fine with. (I guess they don't care if people go to another company) last week I called again knowing that its am or the highway.
The lady on the phone said they would call that morning to tell me what time. These people seem to be on Bankers hours, when I called at 9am because she had not call us yet I was told she didn't know the guys times yet, what? 9am and he hasn't started yet, man I wish I had those hours. So my wife called again at 10 and was told 11am to 1pm.
This to be is barely am and again we had to cancel, which she was fine with. Sorry if you care that little about your business why should I?

Baird's Drain Cleaning is fantastic!! I can't for the life of me figure out why 3 people gave him only 1 star. True his receptionist is short, but she's there to schedule your poop drains to be unclogged. Does she really need to be all soft and cuddly? As for George, he is the best! His prices are more than fair and he takes his time to make sure that your drains are clear. He has saved us from plenty of plumbing nightmares and we will never stray. Thanks George!

We had used Baird's on one previous occasion, so we called them again when our sink was stopped up. I could not clear it with the snake. I called them around noon on a weekday. The lady was very helpful and thought that Jess might be in my area. He was. It was literally less than FIVE minutes later that he showed up at my door! It took about 15 minutes with the drill snake but he was able to clear the stoppage. He explained that the pipe opening was reduced to a very small size because of corrosion and buildup -- I would never have been able to clear it out myself. He even went out of his way in cleaning up the sink area so it was spotless, and suggested that we flush the sink every couple weeks to keep it clear, by filling the sink with hot water and letting it drain all at once. Superb service for twenty bucks -- you cannot beat that. We will definitely be using them again.

Great drain service, inexpensive and good work. They have never been unable to clear any of my drains despite more expensive companies telling me to expect high fees and a big job. Very impressed with this drain service. Have used them numerous times.

Have been using them for years. Great inexpensive price - fast courteous service from techs. If you call in the morning they are out the same day. If you call when they are closed, they come out the next day. They give you a 2-hour window appointment time. Take into consideration they are extremely affordable, therefore, very busy. Like any service company, unexpected problems may arise (maybe at your place) and it may take a little longer to arrive. Take a few moments to call back to see if there are any delays. Definitely not rude just efficient and to the point. The quoted price is the cost - no hidden charges.

Called Baird up Monday morning to come and unplug my drain. Their dispatcher, while brusque, was up-front about their inability to arrive until Tuesday morning. I accepted that, and they arrived as promised, even with a we're-on-our-way call. Once they were here, it was fast, clean, effective, polite, and very reasonably-priced. Frankly, I've had few experiences with tradesmen that worked so well. As chronicled in these Yelp reviews, if you need immediate service you should call someone else. But be prepared to pay the price.

Yes, they will snake your drain cheap. Yes, I WAS a customer of 8+ years. I put up with the service because of the price. You got to draw thew line somewhere though. After being called at 3pm after waiting ALL DAY and being told not today. What time tomorrow? Could not tell you was the receptionists reply. This is not the first time this has happened but my drain is really stopped this time. I like to support family run business but......... Maybe they should get grandma off the phones and hand the line to someone who gives a @#%$. Bottom line if you have the $ money $ to pay more do it. Call around you might be surprised. Otherwise it is kind of like .........Good Luck

Used them several times in the past with NO complaints with their field service! Just have to let you know their receptionist has no concept of service and talked down to us for the last time. All the other reviewers are either their staff, friends OR maybe just have thicker skin? Oh well, I guess we will take our money somewhere else. We are bummed but she obviously did not care as she even hung up on us. Call for service and you will see exactly what I am referring to!

I am a manager of an apartment building and have used their service several times. The receptionist is always very rude. She gives the attitude that they get enough business and they really don't care if they lose a job or customer here or there. They can never seem to give an accurate window of time for when they will be there. Even if you ask for them to call an hour before they are coming, they will call just before they are getting there instead. Makes it almost impossible to plan anything. If you have time to sit around all day and wait for them or you can drop whatever you are doing at any instant, then it might work for you. I think I would rather pay a little extra for better customer service. The only reason they get 2 stars is because when they do show up, they get the clog cleared well. But in all my years of property management, this has been by far the most difficult company to work with.

I called this company first thing in the morning to get my kitchen sink unclogged after my landlord gave me this number. Like every other person says, the receptionist is the problem. She said she would call back when she had the schedule of the plumber. 2 hours goes by and no phone call. I called her back to get a time and she gave me a 2 hour window between 1230 and 230. So I left work early to wait for these people. At 330, there is still nobody here. So, I called back to get a better idea of when this company plans on showing up and once again, the receptionist blew me off, telling me she will page the plumber and see where he is. Page him? Do pagers still exist anyway? A half an hour went by and still no call back. I finally gave up and called someone else. I had the courtesy to cancel my so-called appointment with Baird and all I got from the receptionist was ok no inquiry about anything such as why I am cancelling or anything like that. . Poor receptionist, little to no communication, and just bad all around. I will pay the extra money for better service elsewhere.

baird's is AMAZING!!! called them on memorial day when we had a shower drain clog, they came out and cleared it out within 15 min and only charged $30 when other places wanted to charge $200+. definitely would recommend them!!!
