Derek Rock

Derek has been my go-to electrician for a couple years now. First, it was putting in a new sub panel in our rental unit. Next, it was putting in a new outdoor GFCI outlet to run outdoor lighting off. Most recently, it was diagnosing and fixing a circuit breaker that suddenly started flipping while we were on vacation.

Derek is consistently quick to respond, and charges a reasonable amount (for instance, forgoing a second service fee for a new issue a few days after his initial visit, for a new problem he felt he ought to have spotted before).

Highly recommended.

Derek was awesome!  Super professional, quality work, and stuck to the estimate.  We added added outlets and track lighting to our garage to convert it to a home gym.  We are so happy with the results.  Derek was also flexible with timing of our project and very responsive over email and text.  I definitely plan to use him for future electrical projects.

I called Derek at about 10pm on Christmas Eve and he was kind enough to give me a call back and offer his services the next day on Christmas. If I could give 10 stars for such service I would.

My problem was more or less fixed for now without needing Derek but if I ever need an electrician or give someone a recommendation you better believe Derek will be top of mind.

An electrician with great expertise, efficient with his time with a fair hourly rate....and good humored!  We had major ceiling electrical re-wiring for new lighting and fans. Derek has a great work ethic, flexible, and honest.

Hate to break the 5 star streak here but after having Derek come over for an estimate and then hiring him for a time sensitive job, he didn't show up on the scheduled date and then hasn't returned my call since (approximately 2 weeks later). Now I'm scrambling to find someone to do the job after wasting weeks on Derek.

Derek is the best. He returned my phone call immediately and was able to come over the next day to install two fixtures for me. I live in a very old building, and the wiring for each fixture is different and is not in great condition. But Derek was able to find solutions for both of the fixtures I wanted to install (and fast)! Can't recommend him highly enough!

Derek showed up, took care of business and was in and out of my house. Friendly, knowledgable and professionally fast. (His rates are very reasonable too!) Can't recommend him enough.

Derek was super prompt in returning my phone call and came over the same day to install a new flush mount fixture in my baby's nursery! He had it done in no time and everything worked great! He was super personable too!

Derek did an amazing job. Showed up the same day I called, easily identified the issue with our lights, fixed the main issue AND prevented a further issue that could happen down the road, charged a very reasonable rate & was done within an hour. On top of that, he's super friendly & was great with my 1 y/o twins (who probably would have gone home with him if I would have let them.) I will definitely call again if any electrical needs arise.

Derek installed recess lighting in our main living area, a wine bottle chandelier with a tricky mounting set up, and a bedroom ceiling fan/light.  He was efficient, thorough, and very reasonably priced.  He is very handy, as well, which helped tremendously in mounting the chandelier.  We had a painter working concurrently, and Derek was very flexible with his schedule.  I highly recommend Derek.

Derek has helped us with a few electrical projects these last several months. He has installed a few lighting fixtures for us. Derek is very accessible, responds to text messages right away, is super flexible and is fair in what he charges. I would certainly recommend his services to friends and family.

When we moved into our new house, there ALOT of electrical concerns, from minor safety issues to outlets that didn't work.  He fixed it all.  He was dealt directly with an outdated breaker company to see if there was a cheaper solution to making the circuit safe.  We needed to install a switch in our walk-in closet to turn on the light and he suggested a motion sensor so we never accidentally leave that light on.  I love it!

I called Derek just days before a travel per relying on Yelp reviews as I currently did not have an electrician, he called me back the same day and was able to schedule me almost immediately within days. I had some light switch problems and was concerned for possible safety issues and Derek was able to fix everything quickly, also checked the circuits and reassured me that all was fine.  I would certainly be happy to have Derek's services again for myself and for our building.  Very reasonable price!  Very nice and funny guy with some good stories!  Thanks Derek!

Derek did a great job . . . and it was a small job (fix a bathroom light).  We worked out a convenient time (as it was a small job, I'm always understanding and willing to work around their schedule) and he came over . . . fixed it in 15 minutes and charged me a very reasonable fee (considering he had to stop at a store and buy a part beforehand).  I will definitely use him again and will recommend him to friends.

I found Derek through Yelp and was very happy with both the work he did and the price. He managed to hang a new light in the kitchen without creating a bunch more holes in the ceiling. Then he routed power through the wall and behind a fireplace to power a new wall-mounted T.V. He was careful to preserve the sheet rock that he had to remove so that repairing the wall was pretty easy. It could have been a whole lot worse if he hadn't been meticulous. So, highly recommended. Provided a quote up front and he stuck to his price. No surprises, except for the excellent work.

Derek came to me via my contractor, Eastwood Development, during the renovation of my Victorian.  He was hired to complete a lot of the electrical finish work.  To say the least, having a Victorian's electrical upgraded is an exciting event.  I'm happy to report that the excitement all revolved around everything working well and looking good!  This project included running conduit into the attic redistributing the power from there to the rest of the house. RG6 for cable/internet/voip was also installed throughout the home.  I'm on the geek-side of life, so I really appreciated Derek's extensive knowledge of electrical systems.  Running wire is one thing, but knowing your electrician knows the principles behind what he's doing is really satisfying to me.  Post-renovation, Derek has been great in making himself available to me for a bunch of small things that I missed during the initial process, e.g. running CAT6 into my bedroom and living room the new generation of media servers.  Derek also made himself available to install outdoor lighting, including some advice on a self-starter project :-)  Very pleasant to deal with, timely and reliable, and a true classical music fan!

We have worked with Derek on several projects and each time he has been a miracle worker!  His advice on how to appropriately setup the electrical in a new office as well as teasing out and fixing the problems of a previous owner's crappy eletrical patch job were fantastic.  Very reliable and overall nice guy!!
